Starting point is 00:00:00 Last night, the mayor has got a bat. Now they've gotten a bullpen arm. We'll break down the Jimmy Garcia trade of more coming up here on the Lockdown Marrars podcast. Colby, hit it. You are Locked on Mariners. Your daily Seattle Mariners podcast. Part of the Locked on podcast network, your team every day. Ahoy, Sailors.
Starting point is 00:00:25 It is Friday, July 26, 2024. This is Ted Angus and Colby Patnaud for the Lockdown Marys podcast. Part of the Lockdown Podcast Network, your team every day. So we already recorded a full show today. I was already editing it. But we're going to ax one of the segments because, oh, we have breaking news to talk about.
Starting point is 00:00:42 The mirrors just won't let us breathe, folks. More on that in a second. This episode is going to be Frankenstein together. There's going to be some awkward edits. But later on in the show, we'll talk more about the Randy a Rosarana trade. How do we feel about it now that we've slept on it,
Starting point is 00:00:57 where he'll play and where in the lineup he could slot in. The mirrors also are apparently far from done adding. and I assume that still applies even after this trade that they just made. And we'll go over some of the latest rumors about what they could do next. There's obviously a very big rumor going around with the same team they just made a trade with. So we're going to be talking about that a little later on. Holding out hope. I won't quit it.
Starting point is 00:01:22 I won't quit it. There's still four days left. We'll get into that a little later on. But before we do that, shout out to our title sponsor today. Booking.com. Booking. Yeah. The right state can make you a fan.
Starting point is 00:01:33 of any city, even your rivals. Check out booking.com for your stay today. And if you want to hear from me and Colby even more and help support the show, check out our Patreon. The link is in the description. You can sign it for a free seven day trial. So per Jeff Passant of ESPN and Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic
Starting point is 00:01:51 and MLB on Fox as well in foul territory, of course. The Mariners have acquired Reliever, Jimmy Garcia from the Toronto Blue Jays. And yes, it's Jimmy. It looks like Yemi, but it is Jimmy. for Jonathan Classe and Jacob Sharp, a minor league catcher. Jimmy Garcia, 33 years old is a rental and just recently came off the injured list with an elbow injury, which is a little concerning, but he's healthy.
Starting point is 00:02:20 So it seems, he's pitched already a couple times since returning from the IL. He came back from the IL on July 19th. And overall this year, 30 innings pitch, 270 ERA, 264, 5. 303 X-FIP. It's been worth 0.8F4, 126Ks per 9. That's kind of the big thing here, right? The Mariners needed significantly more swing and miss out of their bullpen than they were getting. And that's what Garcia so far has provided.
Starting point is 00:02:49 It's also a 24 walks per 9. Last year, 1077Ks per 9 and 66 in 66 innings pitch. So this is just a part of Jimmy Garcia's game. So Colby, what do you think about the deal? Yeah, it's a no-brainer. Seattle desperately needed back in bullpen help, particularly back in bullpen help that could miss bats. Right now, it's pretty much just Munoz. And Garcia can certainly miss bats running a 36.5% K rate on the year, which is massive. You know, for most of his career, the last two years prior to this kind of breakout year that he's having this year, he's been a really solid guy kind of, you know, better than Ryan Stanick, a little more predictable than Ryan Stanick. So certainly better than Stanick, even at his, you know, average level. But right now he's pitching above his normal, above his career
Starting point is 00:03:45 norms. And he is a guy that is in the middle of a career and you went out and you got him. He's throwing the ball very well. Opponents expected batting average against him is 169. He's in the 90th percentile of chase percentage. He's in the 80th percentile with percentage. The K percentage is, you know, elite right now. And so, you know, he just, he hasn't gotten enough innings to qualify. If he had, he would be among the top, uh, K guys in baseball, uh, this year. It's a really fun profile. It's a fastball, curveball, uh, kind of, uh, kind of mix here mostly.
Starting point is 00:04:22 But the thing is, it's fastball heavy, but he throws a curveball. He throws a two seamer. He throws a sweeper as well. And he mixes them all in, uh, 20% curveball, 20% sinker, uh, 14. 14% sweeper, 32% passball, even throws a change-up on occasion. So this is not a prototypical two-pitch reliever type.
Starting point is 00:04:41 This is a guy who's got a lot of weapons for lefties and righties. He feels good throwing all of those pitches. Opponents this year hitting a buck 14 off with a four-seamer with a 34% with rate. Keep in mind, last year, Luis Castillo led baseball in forcing a whip rate. And I believe he was around 33%. So it's an elite fastball. It's high, high-velo, 97 miles an hour.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Again, opponent's hitting 144 off of it. So they're slugging 173. So he's going to use the fastball a lot. He's got a two-seamer. Also, that's pretty decent. The curb ball has actually been his worst pitch and the second most use pitch. That shows how good this guy is. You add this guy to the back end.
Starting point is 00:05:26 He is your traditional eighth inning guy. But he's also a guy that if you want to use or you feel like you have to use Munoz and the eighth to pitch to the middle of the order, you feel totally comfortable sitting this guy out into the ninth to shut down the game and get the save. So the Mariners needed a guy like this. We've talked about needing exactly this guy, somebody who is better than Stanik,
Starting point is 00:05:48 somebody who is not quite as good as Munoz, you need that bridge, right? And we'll see what happens with the Santos injury. We still don't have an update on if he's headed to the IL or not. But if you could, if you do get Santos, Garcia, and Munoz, 7-8-9, your bullpen is significantly better. And Garcia is better than Santos in the fact that he misses a lot more bats. The K's are going to be there.
Starting point is 00:06:12 So runners on second and third with one out and you need a strikeout big time. You're going to Garcia, not Santos, to get that strikeout. It's a great deal for Seattle. They trade from a position where they have some depth. And they trade a guy who probably is not an everyday player, almost certainly is not, has some fun tools but has a lot of holes in his game. they trade that guy and then a single-a catcher that nobody listening to this podcast has heard of.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Apologies to the Sharp family of you happen to listen to our podcast, but I'm sorry, good luck. But yeah, it's a great trade. There is no downside to this trade. Garcia's a rental. He's a pure rental. So you only get him for a couple months here. But the impact of the 20-ish innings you get from him, you know, not counting the playoff, any playoff energy number is going to be significant.
Starting point is 00:07:01 because they're probably almost certainly all going to be high leverage innings that you're going to ask them to throw for you. So you're going to hear a little later on the show when we had our Randy chat that we'll see about what the corresponding move is to make room for Randy on the roster. This obviously trading class A clears away for Randy in terms of the position player group. They're obviously still going to have to make a move, but that move now is going to come
Starting point is 00:07:28 from the bullpen when they add Jimmy Garcia. So another thing that I want to know here, I just got word on this. So tonight, you're going to notice that Harry Ford is not in the lineup. That is not, I'm being told that is not because of a trade. He is sick. So if you see Harry Ford's not on the lineup, don't go, oh, oh, here we go. They traded for Yandi Diaz. They traded for Vlad Jr.
Starting point is 00:07:54 They traded for, you know, name of player. It doesn't mean they won't trade him. It just means, yes. Yeah, that that's not the specific reason that he's out of the lineup. He's just fallen ill today. So, all right. Lastly, yeah, so you mentioned the Gregory Santos thing. Obviously, this is something that they probably needed to do even if Santos was fully healthy.
Starting point is 00:08:16 But do you think this might signal that they got bad news on Gregory Santos? It's tough to say because, like you said, this is the deal they needed to make regardless if they had Santos. Honestly, this is a deal where, you know, they had healthy Matt Brash and healthy Gregory Santos all year, this is still a deal they should make. So I don't know if this is necessarily about Santos. I will say this. The fact that Santos suffered a knee injury and he immediately came out of the game, I would be shocked if he's not placed on the I.O. Honestly, he might just be the move for Randy.
Starting point is 00:08:49 He might just go on the IL and Randy takes his roster spot. So I don't know. I'm not saying it's a guarantee that this is, you know, Santos. is out for a while he's headed to the I. I would guess just purely on speculation that it's likely that Santos has headed to the IL for how long?
Starting point is 00:09:09 I don't know. But again, that is all speculation right now. The Mariners play in about three hours. So we should be getting lineups. We should be getting a Scott Service presser or whatever they call it the media thing, scrum. We should be getting that here in the next hour or so.
Starting point is 00:09:25 But obviously you guys will know all of this before, you know, we do now as we're recording. So, yeah, yeah, it's tough to say, but I would, I would speculate that Santos is almost certainly headed to the IL and that'll be the move when Randy gets here tomorrow. And I would assume Garcia, it will also be here tomorrow Sunday at the latest. All right. So once again, the rest of this episode is going to be kind of Frankenstein together.
Starting point is 00:09:51 There might be some things that you hear. I'm not exactly sure. I can't remember everything that we talked about, but there might be some things that are a little outdated, what have you. I'm just going to try and include everything that I felt was the most important stuff that we talked about in the original recording that we did. So that's coming up. First up is our closing thoughts on Randy Orozerana, the trade that brought him to Seattle last night and where he's going to play, where he might fit in the lineup, all that good stuff in just a moment. But first, a reminder, this episode of the Lockdown Marys podcast is brought to you by booking.com and eBay Motors.

Starting point is 00:12:17 with SiriusXM via the SXM app. All you have to do to find that is search the word Mariner's. So I was telling you this just a couple of minutes ago before we hit record on this thing, Colby. We had talked so much about Randy Orozarena this off season, not really during the season, because he got off to the slow start. And even after he started to get it together, and that was really around June 14th. I know a lot of people are pointing into June 1st, but like we talked about last night,
Starting point is 00:12:45 he really flipped the switch from June 14th onward. And he's been one of the best hitters on the planet since that time. But even at that point, I just kind of had given up on the idea of Randy or Rosarena being a mariner. And I figured like, you know, he's probably going to get traded this summer, but it's probably going to be the Dodgers or it's going to be the Braves. And he's going to figure it out. And he's going to be really good for them on their, you know, respective postseason runs, right?
Starting point is 00:13:09 So it's a little hard for me to process like, yeah, he's actually a mariner. Like he just kind of felt like one of those guys we're going to talk about a lot, but he's actually never going to wind up being a mariner, even though that it makes some sense. And obviously we, you know, like you talked about last night, we heard a lot of conflicting information about whether or not they actually liked him this off season. But yeah, now he's a mariner. He's making his mariner's debut tomorrow, or at least he's joining the team tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:13:34 I would assume he's going to be in the lineup tomorrow. We'll see what they do in terms of a corresponding move on that front. I would assume it's just sending down Marlowe or Klossay. But maybe they just go ahead and make the decision on Mitch Hanigur. We'll see. But, yeah, overall, how are you feeling now that you've gotten a chance to sleep on this thing? well somebody who predicted this exact thing on last night's patreon show exact thing is stretching it was I closer than you
Starting point is 00:14:03 oh yeah but I took the pessimistic route to to reverse jinks surprise tie the pessimist as we all know well-known pessimist tied in Gonzales and the reverse jinks worked out immediately it's funny because usually it's my reverse jinks that works out but yeah uh feeling good you know it's really not a lot has changed like in regard to how you feel about the deal. A lot of the times your initial reaction, uh, is a good one. And I say, you know, a lot of the times you're as an, I'm speaking in a third person here,
Starting point is 00:14:37 my initial reaction is usually a good one. Uh, I nail everything. Uh, but, uh, no, it's always right. Never wrong. Colby Patnaud. I'm not wrong. I'm early. Uh, but, uh, but, uh, no, it, it's, it's, like,
Starting point is 00:14:53 Like it's just impossible to poke holes in the deal because did they need a player like this? Yes, they did. Did they need outfield help? Yes, they did. Did they need a guy who's hitting right now? Yes, they did. Did they need to start looking ahead to 2025 as well and start planning for this offseason knowing that they're going to have to essentially rebuild the entire offense?
Starting point is 00:15:16 Yes, they did. And they did all that without touching, you know, your big, you know, five or six prospects, however many you want to throw in there without touching your elite prospects. And they had to give up a couple really good prospects, a couple of our favorites. And this player to be named later is going to be a name. But to me, this really feels like a Teddy McGraw situation. So, yeah. So Adam Jude threw out a couple of names that apparently the rays are interested in,
Starting point is 00:15:45 which to me that's like, yeah, those are the names they're deciding between. It's Walter Ford and Teddy McGraw are the two names that he threw out there. And McGraw makes a lot of sense. He's working his way back from an injury. He does have, you know, starter stuff. And he would have been a first round pick had he not had his second Tommy John surgery right before the draft last year. So to me, that all totally makes sense. And again, that's not nothing to give up.
Starting point is 00:16:10 And it's nice to see that the general consensus seems to be like the race did pretty well here. But so did the Mariners. And that's how this is supposed to work. So, you know, nothing's changed in the last 12 hours. pretty excited that Randy Rose Arena is here. It's, you know, nothing's changing regards to like, I still think they need to go add another player who's at least, you know, similar to Randy Rose Arena at the play at the very least.
Starting point is 00:16:37 And hopefully it may be even a little bit better, but, you know, we'll see. There's not a lot out there right now. So, you know, expecting a ton better is difficult. So, yeah, I feel really good. They're apparently trying to do that, though. We'll get into that a little later on. But, yeah, I still.
Starting point is 00:16:53 feel really good about this. And again, this is not only a move that helps you in 2024. It helps you in 25. It helps you in 26. Theoretically, as we know, we'll wait and see, you know, how he handles T-Mobile Park. But early indication, early numbers say he's pretty good there. So, you know, we'll see. I think Randy is exactly the type of player they needed to add from a contract structure, from, you know, from just like an on-the-field thing, but also, by all accounts, he's a great dude. He's a great clubhouse that plays the game with a ton of energy. I think he's going to inject some, you know, enthusiasm in a clubhouse right now that is just absolutely has dreadful vibes. They needed a vibes guy.
Starting point is 00:17:32 A Rosarina is certainly that. So I just, I love the bet. And the trade cost is, you know, again, a little painful for me personally because I'm a huge Aden Smith man. But whatever. I'd rather have Randy O'Serana for the next three years and hope that Aden Smith is as good as I think he can be. Yeah. Yeah. just to reiterate they had to do this
Starting point is 00:17:51 had to come away from this deadline with at least one guy that was controlled beyond this year they got that done hopefully they can add more and again we'll talk about that a little later on in the show so let's do some house cleaning things here on randy real quick before we move on one just to get this out of the way if you care about jersey numbers and stuff like that
Starting point is 00:18:10 the mayors have them listed to stick with the number 56 so it looks like he's going to keep the same number in seattle for at least the rest of the season and then where do you think he's going to play. He's been pretty much exclusively a left fielder with a raise. So I assume that's just where he's going to slot in in Seattle, right?
Starting point is 00:18:29 Yeah, I'd assume so. The general consensus is that right field is easier than left field at Team Mobile Park, which doesn't seem like it would be, but whatever, doesn't matter. Orosurane is really comfortable on left. I think he's played pretty much
Starting point is 00:18:46 his entire career there. He might have a couple in right, but yeah, if he's comfortable and left, you know and you don't want to mess with him trying to you know read the bat or read the ball off the bat from a completely different angle there's really no reason not to keep him in left he's not good out there we know this like rosorraine is a poor defender he'll make some like you know highlight worthy plays which we've seen mostly because he has to because he has a misstep or something like that but like he's better than hanager i mean to be fair though he's he's made a couple of really nice plays at the wall right a couple of not necessarily like home run robberies but but double robberies, stuff like that, crashing into the wall, all that. It's not a ton of range. So, yeah, he's a left field. I don't think the arm really plays in right either. It's not a canon, if I'm recalling correctly.
Starting point is 00:19:34 So, yeah, I think left field's his best spot. He can play in right, certainly, like, that's not an issue. You play either corner outfield spot, but if he's comfortable in left field, if he's gotten all of his working left field, there's really no reason to move him to right. Like the difference between playing left field and right field at Team Mobile Park, not that significant. They're both, you know, it's a big outfield either way. He's 16th percentile an ounce above average.
Starting point is 00:19:55 It's negative three ounce above average. Seventh percentile in arm value. So, yeah, not a strong arm. You know, 32nd percentile in arm strength. It's not a good arm. That's a left field arm. Yeah. If you have to play him in the right field, you can.
Starting point is 00:20:10 But he profiles best in left field. Mm-hmm. Yeah. And then finally, this is kind of a two-parter, right? it's before Julio and JP get back, assuming that both of them are going to get back. And then after at least one of those guys gets back and then both of them gets back. So maybe it's actually a three-parter. Where does Randy slot into the lineup?
Starting point is 00:20:32 And I, you know, also this is dependent on what else they do. But right now, like the players are actually in the organization. Yeah. With regards to the Chicago series. Like where do you think Randy is going to be in the lineup tomorrow against Eric Fetty? I would hit him two. I probably Robles would lead off and then I'd have Rosaray hit. By the way, those two guys are going to be a lot of fun together.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Personality-wise. Yeah. Yeah. Rosanana's got a fantastic personality. There's a threat out there from a reporter who works for the race about Randy, Rosarana that you guys should go check out. It kind of speaks to the individual he is. But yeah, I would hit him two in Chicago.
Starting point is 00:21:16 And I guess then in Boston, as well against crochet. I might hit him lead off, you know, for the lefty. But yeah, I'd hit them two, no lower than three until Julio and JP are back. We'll talk about what could be coming up next for the Mariners on the trade market in just a moment. You can catch all the action between the Marrars and the White Sox on the Marriss Hometown broadcast with SiriusXM via the SXM app. All you have to do to find that is search the word Mariners. It's the last game we have to watch with this specific lineup as currently constructed. Oh my God. Thank the heavens. I cannot wait to watch Randy a Roserana hit in this lineup tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:24:16 Not even for the for the fact of just seeing Randy himself, just to see someone. different in this Mariners lineup. Someone that is on paper. Again, we're not speaking in absolutes here. We're not making any assumptions here. But someone that on paper is good, is a good header. I mean, and who's actually hitting currently, like hitting well currently. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:38 So hopefully that rolls over. Yeah. So hopefully the mayors could add another guy like that or maybe two guys like that over the next four days. still a little while to go before the trade deadline actually comes around. Tuesday at 3 o'clock Pacific time, 6 o'clock Eastern time. We'll be doing a show after the deadline hits, by the way. So our show is going to be coming out a little bit later than usual on Tuesday, just so you guys know.
Starting point is 00:25:06 Seattle mirrors, they are apparently still trying to add something big. Now it's not Luis Robert apparently. Adam Jude said that's highly unlikely at this point, which is Jude's been nailing it the last few days. That makes me sad. I'll say that. Kind of makes sense, though. It does make sense, but it still makes me sad.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Yeah. But I get it. I get it, especially if, like, you know, again, the white socks need to nail this. They don't necessarily have to do this right now. Yada, yada, yada. Right. So.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Also keep in mind, unlikely is not equal to impotivis. possible. Sure. Every player is unlikely to be a, Randy Rosa Rana was unlikely to be acquired by the Mariner's. Good cope. Good cope. I like it.
Starting point is 00:25:58 I like it. I am the optimist here. But you did address the Vladimir Guerrero Jr. rumors that have been going around that the Maris have been very aggressive. John Heyman was the first one to report that. That they have been very aggressive on trying to acquire Vlad Jr. who the Blue Jays right now seem unwilling to trade, but again,
Starting point is 00:26:22 it's got a year and a half left. They're not going to do anything this season. Yep. And that organization is likely in order for significant change at the top level this off season as well. So there's been talks about they're trying to work on an out of an extension with him. That hasn't happened so far. Maybe they change their mind here.
Starting point is 00:26:49 And it seems from all indications, and I've even heard a little bit about this as well behind the scenes, that the Mariners are trying as hard as they can to change the Blue Jay's mind. Yes. I have heard the same. So Colby, that, what does that look like, do you think? Because we haven't heard what that would look like. So this is just pure speculation. Yeah. No specifics.
Starting point is 00:27:16 The only thing I've heard is that the offers or the talks that they are having are substantial in that the mariners are not trying to acquire this guy on the cheap. Like they are willing to pay the freight essentially to go get this guy. Now what that looks like, I don't know what it looks like to the Blue Jays to change their mind. Probably more than the Mariners will end up wanting to give up to get this guy. So the Vlad thing is still highly unlikely. If I was betting, I would bet money that Vlad is a Blue Jay on Wednesday. But we've heard it from national guys. We've heard it from local guys.
Starting point is 00:27:56 You and I have heard it as well from other people that their interest in Guerrero is legit. Like this is not a, you know, like exploratory talk. Like they are actively trying to get this done. They are actively trying to add Vladimir Guerrero at this deadline. again can they do it will they do it i it takes two to tango right if at the end of the day the blue jays just are not interested in moving him then there's nothing you can do you have to move on and you have to be willing to move on you know at least a day or two before the deadline so you can't go make other moves you can't just be you know beholden to this one idea and if it
Starting point is 00:28:32 doesn't work well oh well like no you have to make other moves so my fear here is that you know they get held they get like put on the hook by toronto just long enough that other deals pass them by and then they get to the deadline day and Toronto says no we're not doing it and Seattle's kind of stuck scrambling and they do need more bats and the mayors know that we know that the mayors are still active in trade talks we they were linked today uh to to to yandi Diaz yeah we'll talk about him a little later on as well so clearly first base is an area that the mayors feel like they need to go at help and so uh you know if they're interested in Diaz if they're interested in Vlad very interested in Vlad from what I'm hearing uh it kind of
Starting point is 00:29:12 feels like that's their next target. There is some flexibility here because if you can't get the first baseman, you can just go get another outfielder and move Luke Grayley to first base. So it doesn't have to be a first basement. But if they're getting Vlad or they're trying to get Vlad, I would think that they wouldn't be able to do it without giving up Colt Emerson. And I think that's a hard line that the Mariners will not pass. I do not think there is a player available that the Seattle Marriors are willing to trade Colton Emerson for.
Starting point is 00:29:48 And I think the only way that you are going to get the Blue Jays to budge and, you know, kind of force them to be like, well, we have to consider this now is if you include Colton Emerson a trade package. And I just don't think they're going to do it. I, my guess. Honestly, though, when I heard what we had heard, my immediate thought was, oh, they've already offered Cole Emerson. or they've offered Brian Wu. Yeah. Again, all speculation, we don't have. That's all, that's all speculation.
Starting point is 00:30:17 That's just what went through my, just to be clear about that. We have not heard of any players that have been like offered or names that have been discussed. No, no, no. It's all just speculation based on the verbiage that we are being told. I think what Seattle's probably trying to do is they're like, why don't you take Harry Ford and Las Montes and like Logan Evans
Starting point is 00:30:39 and you know blah blah, like and and and and. And the Blue Jays are just like, no, that's not a good enough headliner. So I do think that the attempt to get Vlad is legitimate. I do think the efforts are an honest effort to actually acquire the player, not just, you know, do due diligence.
Starting point is 00:30:58 Do do. So I know you're going there. So yeah, I think it's something to monitor. We've been podcasting together way too long. I know it's something. to, I, it's something to monitor. It's something to take seriously. At the end of the day, do I think it's likely?
Starting point is 00:31:14 No, I would say it's, it's like 95% chance that Vlad is a Blue Jay. Yeah. But it's, it's still, it's still out there. And it's not going away. So, uh, that tells me that there is at least some, uh, there are some legs to this rumor. I mean, Vlad's like a good, I don't know, 40-ish minutes away from me right now. I'll go help him pack myself.
Starting point is 00:31:41 You get on the plane, Vlad. I'll pack up for you. Yeah, yeah. I got you, bro. Let's talk about Yondi Diaz because he's the guy that we've actually heard a national reporter link to the Mariners. Mark Feinson of MLB.com said Astros Pirates Mariners on Yondi Diaz. So what do you think about that? I believe Heyman also followed up and said the Rangers, the Astros, and the Mariners.
Starting point is 00:32:03 So a lot of interest on Yondi. I think he's a good bit for. what this club needs. Obviously, his spot in the lineup is wide open now that tie France is in here. He's not a huge power guy, but he gets on base. He hits for a high average. He doesn't strike out a ton. And, you know, he'll hit doubles and triples. The occasional home run, not that he has no power whatsoever, but when, you know, France was actually looking okay, it's like, well, he can't play second. He can't play third. Like, he's a first base, DH only. But now first base is wide open. And he makes a lot of sense. He's a right-handed bat, so he's not ideal.
Starting point is 00:32:39 I think Camerner's in the perfect world would add another left-handed hitter, but you can't really get that picky this time of year. You have to get what you can. And I do think that the cost on Diaz, you know, depending on the market and the bidding war that follows, would be roughly in the same ballpark as Randy in that deal. So, you know, you get him for a couple years here. I think he's got a year and two months left on his deal.
Starting point is 00:33:05 So you do get him for another playoff run after this. And so I do think that he makes a lot of sense. And I think the bat would play pretty well at Team Mobile Park because, again, you're not worried about him losing power at Team Mobile Park. It's not a huge part of his game. You want him hitting line drives and hard ground balls and hitting 280 and, you know, getting on base, you know, 37, 38, 39, 40% of the time. And then the power that comes with it is probably going to be above average, but not spectacular.
Starting point is 00:33:32 So I think, I think Diaz is a tremendous fit for Seattle. I think he's exactly what this lineup needs. He could hit anywhere one through four, and it would make a tremendous amount of sense for this team. So Diaz is the guy that, like, I would probably prefer if we're just talking just like cost. Like, I would prefer that they just give up the cost to get Diaz over Vlad. Obviously, Vlad is the more dynamic player.
Starting point is 00:33:57 But, yeah, Diaz is a great, a great consolation prize, so to speak. And he is actually in a tier a little bit above a Rosarena. So you would accomplish that goal too of adding the big bat and making a Rosarena the second best bat you acquired. So I really like the Diaz idea. He just got activated off of the restricted list, which is essentially a team suspension. Team issue suspension. He was without pay for the last week. We don't know why that was.
Starting point is 00:34:30 And I assume teams are trying to figure out what that was. maybe that's also kind of the holdup here and why he hasn't been traded yet um so that's kind of curious and then again right now castle apparently is available the orioles have already traded something off of their major league roster awesome hayes for saranth de mingez and christian paschay so they seem to be open to trading more guys off of their major league roster despite competing so maybe mountcastle makes sense but that's going to be an expensive venture because you're talking about two and a half years of mount castle who is hitting right now um he's honestly kind of the first base equivalent of randy or rosarena right now i think they're i think
Starting point is 00:35:09 they're running the exact same w rc plus if i'm not mistaken so i'm i'm gonna just uh make this clear real quick so tomorrow i'm going to see Deadpool right that just came out last night i'm going to see it tomorrow with some friends because i'm seeing it with friends i'm going to toronto right so i'm going to be a ways away from my house it i'm going to be out of the house for a few hours right so I said this on the Patreon I'll say it again on here if you're expecting the to do anything I would say there's a pretty good shot it's going to happen while I'm away from the house because that's just of course that's that's how it would go down right what is the time of your showing what is the location specifically the address I'm not going to docks
Starting point is 00:36:00 myself, but the showing, I believe, is at 6 o'clock Pacific, or Eastern time, 3 o'clock Pacific time. The movie is about two hours. It's going to take me about an hour to get to the theater from the house, then about another hour to get back to the house after the movie. If you really cared about you guys, you could run home in 15 minutes. So, so again, if I will you, will you promise me this?
Starting point is 00:36:28 Uh-huh. If I text you, that the merits have acquired like Vlad while you're in a movie theater in Toronto will you stand up and be like Vlad to the Mariners and then leave immediately Yes but I will verify Twitter first because I know you and I can't trust you
Starting point is 00:36:44 So this is all to say though That if something happens while I'm in the movie Right it might take a little while for the show to get out Yep So we will get you a show Tomorrow if something happens
Starting point is 00:37:00 it just might be a little bit delayed. Yep. All right. And then if not, if nothing happens, we'll see you guys on Monday. Do mailbag Monday. We'll have CTZ Mondays on the Patreon. And then Tuesday, like I said earlier on, we'll be doing a deadline show after the deadline passes.
