So we're back and so is Fan Fiction Friday.
If you're new to the show and don't know what Fan Fiction Friday is, very simple.
Our listeners submit their marriage trade ideas to us.
We grade them on the 2080 scale, 20 being the worst,
being the best, of course, based on things like creativity, uniqueness,
and if it makes sense, not just for the Marys, but for the other team as well.
So let's get into this week's batch, starting with Alex, who has a deal with the Diamondbacks.
It's the A. Eugenio Suarez and Josh Naylor idea that we brought up last week,
trying to get both of those guys, not just one of them, but both of them.
Alex has the mayor is giving up
Logan Evans and Michael Morales.
You think that gets it done, Colby?
I don't think so.
These guys are a little tough to
judge together, though,
because their values are going to be,
I think, quite a bit different.
You know, Nailer is,
they're both rentals, first and foremost.
Nailer is a first base only
fringy
platoon battle.
I want to say,
you platoon, I mean, like, you can leave him in there against lefties, but he's not going to
perform all that well against them. He's not going to be a disaster. It's still worth the tradeoff,
but, you know, he's not an elite hitter. He's a very good hitter, particularly against
right-handed pitching. So, yeah, I don't know what that's worth. Right now, it's, it's tough to say,
because, again, it's a corner infielder. There's a lot of first baseman out there. That's a market that
usually gets pretty flooded.
So his value might be less than we think, but Suarez is quite a bit different because he's
a third baseman.
And as we talked about all winter, there's just not a lot of quality third baseman out there
in Major League Baseball right now.
So he's probably the best third basement that's going to be available, maybe the only
everyday third baseman who's going to be available.
And that is going to drive his price up.
But because he's a rental, that drives it back down a little bit.
And there are some red flags with Suarez as well.
He doesn't hit that well away from Chase Field, which we know is a very good hitters ballpark.
And he's actually struggled against lefties this year, which is weird.
That's kind of usually the last skill that goes.
But this year, I don't know, it seems to be a problem.
But obviously, Gino works because we know he works in the clubhouse and we know that the ballpark is fine and all that.
So, yeah, I don't think this is enough.
It's really tough to say what would get both of them.
here because I do feel like, like, what would you give up for Rhino Herd?
Because that's pretty much what Naylor is.
Now, Naylor's got a longer track record.
But again, we're talking about a rental who really shouldn't face that many lefties
who only plays first base.
Like, I don't know how much that's worth.
Gino is more difficult, but I don't think that this is enough.
This is essentially offering two number five starters for an impact, first basement impact.
basement in the middle of a pennant race i i think this comes up short of what the diamondbacks
would want i think it's better than maybe on first glance like when you see logan evans and
michael morales you go that's really underwhelming that maybe doesn't even get the conversation
started but we're talking about you know even though that evans and morales they're back into the
rotation type of starters evans has major league experience already
Morales is pretty close to making his major league debut, I would think.
This is a Diamondbacks team that could use some pitching,
especially in the back off of its rotation.
So maybe that is appealing to them,
but I don't think that you're getting both of these guys.
I don't even think you're getting one of these guys without a top 100-ish prospect.
So I don't think that you get this deal across the finish line
without someone like Michael O'Royle being involved,
Harry Ford being involved, someone like that.
out.
Yeah.
I mean, the price of rentals,
uh,
bats in particular probably would surprise a lot of people.
It's not as high as you would think.
Sure.
Um, but, you know, I mean,
kind of the outlier is,
is peak for Armstrong for Hoppy pie is.
Uh,
but you kind of look at what like Chris Bryant went for when he was traded.
A good prospect,
not an elite one by any stretch.
Uh,
so you just kind of go through and you look at some of the past rental trades.
Uh,
And again, it's going to cost you a little bit, but probably not as much as we think.
So would I be aggressive with it?
Would I give Arroyo or something like that to get both of these guys as well as other pieces?
Yeah, I probably would because, again, you're kind of killing two birds with one stone here.
But I'm just not quite sure what the rental market's going to be like this year.
It doesn't take a ton.
And I doubt that these two guys are going to cost more than, you know, two and a half years of Randy a Rosarena.
and what the mares gave up to get him.
So it's kind of a, it's a difficult thing when you add two rental players into the same deal.
But I would get pretty aggressive on something like that.
I think this one is too light, though, for Arizona.
That would be my guess now.
Gallant is a free agent after this year.
I think Carol Kelly's a free agent after this year.
He is, yes.
Burns is going to miss a good chunk of next year, probably, with his late Tommy John.
So they could use some rotation help, sure.
But I just don't know of these.
My guess is that they think we have Logan Evans.
We have Michael Morales.
We have those guys at home.
So we'll see.
But I don't think this is enough to get it done.
Now, I'll go 45 on this.
I see where your head was out with this.
But I do think, especially in order to get both of these guys in the same deal,
it's a seller's market.
Gino might be the only good third baseman available in this market.
or at least the only third baseman that provides an actual third base offensive profile.
So I think there is going to be a little bit of a premium put on that.
I think there's going to be a little bit of a bidding more to get him specifically.
Naylor not as much because, again, there's other options like Ryan O'Huron that other teams can eventually turn to.
But Naylor still, I mean, Naylor is a 300 hitter right now.
He obviously has a lot of pop there.
Yeah, so that's going to be he's going to be a sought after commodity as well, just not as much as Gino, even though that nailer's been a better hitter than Gino.
So I think that's going to get fairly expensive, even though both of those guys are rentals.
So I don't think Evans and Morales get it done.
So I'll land at a 45.
Again, I see your vision here, but I just don't think it gets it done.
Yeah, I think it's a 40 for most of those.
reasons and hey, this does get it done.
You should get it done tomorrow.
But obviously Arizona, pretty much right where Seattle is where it's like they could go either way.
But again, for this exercise, we're assuming if you're making a selling move, the mayors are actually selling and the team is actually buying.
Like, we're just assuming the teams are in a position when they would make this trade where it would make sense.
It makes sense.
Yeah.
Yes.
Yeah.
So just keep that in mind because we have buying and selling trades today.
Udanaus has a selling move
Speaking of with the Los Angeles Dodgers
Andreas Munoz to L.A.
for Ben Casperius, Alex Freeland, and Zaire Hope.
Anything about this one?
Yeah.
I'm big on
Cusperius.
I really like him.
I've liked him since this winter.
I was hoping that there was a chance
with all the 40-man moves that the Dodgers would have to make
that they would end up,
you know, that would be one of the guys they'd cut loose or trade,
but they just kept on putting guys on the 60 and clearing those spots.
So, yeah, that's an interesting one.
They're trying out and the rotation now, by the way.
He's been really, really good.
So I don't know if that's something that the Dodgers would want to part with.
Now, Munoz is obviously worth quite a bit.
But, you know, this is Zahir Hope, who's the top 100 prospect.
This is Alex Freeland, who's a top 100 prospect.
and possibly five years of maybe a mid-rotation starter or a high leverage reliever for Munoz.
I think that the Dodgers would probably look at this and say, like,
we can just not do better, but we can do pretty good at less cost than this.
I think that would be my assumption.
It's interesting.
Like, I think this is what Seattle should be shooting for.
Is they going to entertain trading Munoz?
us this summer.
So I think from a Seattle perspective, yeah, go out and set your standard high, set your
bar high and see if anybody reaches it.
And if not, whatever, not the end of the world, you can do this over the winter or you
could do it next summer or whatever.
Or you have a really good closer for the next couple of years at cost control price.
So, yeah, it's an interesting deal.
I think the Dodgers would probably rather spend less on a lesser arm and trust kind of the
bullpen that they built this winter.
But yeah, this is certainly interesting.
interesting. Full disclosure, I'm not a huge Alex Friedland guy. He's good. I just don't know if he has like a one plus tool or anything like that. He just kind of looks like he's average across the board. And I mean, he's a good prospect. Don't get me wrong. But I mean, yeah, he's Cole Young. I think that's pretty close. He's a Cole Young type of player, which is totally fine. And honestly, in this deal, he might be the third piece, which is insane. So yeah, I would really like this from the mayor's perspective. This is the type of deal that, like,
If the Mariners were in first place, they might even want to consider just because of the limited value overall that a reliever brings versus what this package could bring you.
But yeah, as things stand right now, I would say it's probably shooting the moon for the Mariners, and that's what they should be trying to do if they're going to trade Munoz right now.
But I don't think the Dodgers would do it.
I think it's just a little bit too expensive for them.
Casperius is the biggest variable here.
Because what is he?
Is he a reliever?
Is he a starter?
Even if he's just a high leverage reliever,
I mean,
you might just have your Munoz replacement right there.
And him.
So on top of that,
you get Hope who has been crushing it
in the lower levels of the miners,
Freeland,
who's just kind of a solid,
up the middle player across the board.
Could play third base, too.
Yeah.
part of me is like
maybe I'd rather see them just swing for like one big piece
in a Munoz deal rather than three
like how good of a singular piece could you get
for Munoz
but in general like if this if this was the deal
that they made to capitalize on Munoz's value
I wouldn't be bad at it
no
I think it makes sense
plus Casparius and Freeland probably help you this year
if not right away
and hope is, you know, probably at this stage,
he'd be the number two prospect in the system, maybe number three.
So, yeah, it's interesting.
Hope is a little bit of ways, though,
but that's kind of counteractive by getting two pieces who, you know,
one will definitely help you this year.
And Freeland could and definitely will at some point next year be up.
So, yeah, I think it's interesting.
But again, I think it's just a little,
I think that the Dodgers would look this and be like,
well, let's go see what,
you know,
two months of Brian Housley
will cost us instead.
Yeah.
But we'll see.
I mean,
that's probably how a lot of teams are going to view,
Munoz.
Like,
yeah,
Munoz is great,
but we have to pay an extra,
extra,
extra premium on him because he's still under club control for three years
at a very,
very team friendly cost.
Right.
Let's just go try for,
you know,
this guy who's rentals,
Garcia is.
Yeah.
Like just do that and give up a top 15 prospect instead of like three legitimate.
Yeah.
I'll go 50 on this, so solid.
I think it's what the Mariners should be looking for.
But I also don't think it's that realistic.
But if any team would do it, it would be the Dodgers.
So I'm thinking like 45.
We will look at more of your trades in just a moment.
but first a reminder of this episode of the lockdown Marrace podcast is brought to you by trade coffee.
Whether you're gearing up for back-to-back meetings, shuttling kids back and forth to activities,
or tackling an in-list to-do list, your morning sets the tone for it all.
That's why it should start with a perfect cup of coffee crafted just for you.
Inter trade. Trade is the number one coffee destination in the U.S.,
delivering fresh, incredible coffee from over 50 of the country's top roasters.
Whether you're a cold brew fan or pour over purists, they've got a roast you'll love.
love. So I took trades quiz and only took a minute and the first bag they sent me was spot on.
The coffee was fresh, smelled amazing and honestly, kind of ruined grocery store coffee for me in the
best way. And if the first match isn't perfect, trade will replace it for free until they get it
just right. Right now, trade is exclusively offering customers 50% off your one month trial at

And you're listening to the Lockdown Marriss podcast for instant reactions following every
Mariners game.

A couple things before we get back into your trades here on fan fiction Friday.
A little bit of news.
Laoti Tavaris has cleared waivers and has been outright.
to AAA Tacoma.
So he's still in the Mariners organization.
We'll see if they can continue to try and make some tweaks with him
and maybe get him back on the right track down with the raineers.
Secondly, let's talk a little bit about Feeding America,
as we always do here at the start of segment two.
Feeding America's website is finally working again.
So shout out to Darren for $25.
Aaron with 20.
Oz, your donation isn't.
showing up. It just shows your name, but thank you for whatever your
donation was. And then Micah with $22.20
saying 222 meals to match this team's batting
average with runners in scoring position.
Yeah.
How about we start donating
the sum of percentage of games. The Mariners
are shooting to win every year.
Let's turn those 54% jokes into something positive, huh?
Hey.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We've seen some good ones.
We saw the 360 or was it $36 and 50 cents.
Yeah.
For a meal a day.
Yeah.
And we saw the $76 don't know for the 76 year old birthday.
Do you remember his name?
It was Jim, I believe.
Yeah.
So anyways, yeah, we're raising money for feeding America yet again.
It's a great organization where they will, their goal is to feed America.
There's over 50 million people in our country who face food insecurity, including one out of
every five children who do not know where their next meal is coming from.
So feeding America takes every dollar that they earn.
And because of deals they've made with wholesalers and others, they are able to turn every
dollar that we raise into 10 meals to help feed the hungry.
So it's a great cause.
It's great bang for your buck.
Just $1 and you feed 10 people for the day.
So we really like partnering with them.
We did this a few years ago.
We hit $15,000 and some change.
The last time we did this right now, we're still a little bit under five.
I'd like to see that get up to over five by the time we record again.
But, you know, it's slacking a little bit, which, you know, whatever.
But yeah, it'd be great to see us get to five.
And, you know, it'd be awesome that we could break 50.
at some point.
We got another month to go, give or take, of our fundraiser, though.
So we have time.
And you guys have already shattered the goal that we said initially.
But hey, let's, like Pete Carroll said, let's not rest on our laurels.
Let's go break records now.
So, yeah, you know, donate if you can.
If you can't donate, then you can just subscribe to the channel.
And Ty and I will donate 10 cents for every new subscriber we get during the duration of this fundraiser.
I believe we're up over 110 new subs, give or take, which would be 110 meals, 10 cents a meal.
So just by clicking a button, we fed 100 plus people as a community.
So that's awesome.
So yeah, again, please donate if you can.
If you already have, subscribe and Ty and I will donate in a lump sum at the end.
Or, you know, share this link with your friends and your family, your coworkers and whatever.
get this out there. Let's see how high we can take this thing. It's always fun to track. It's a fun thing to be a part of. And it's exciting that, you know, in just what, about two weeks now, give or take? We raised 46,000 meals in just a short amount of time. So let's keep it going. Let's see how high we could take this thing. And again, please donate. Please share the link with your friends and your family. Subscribe. If you haven't already, that.
That also helps out.
And let's see how many meals we can donate by the end of this thing.
All right.
Let's get back into your trades.
Connor has a deal with the Cubs.
It's another selling move for the Mariners,
Luis Castillo and Gabe Spire to Chicago for Owen Casey and Brandon Birdsell.
So circling back on the Cubs as a fit for Castillo.
We don't necessarily know if Castillo wants to go to Chicago because he still has the no trade clause until January 1st.
so that does have to factor in here but but we did also hear that this winter if you guys remember back to the winter where
I don't know of saying it was really close as accurate or not but like the Mariners did have in-depth discussions about trading louise castillo to the cubs
Nico horner was going to be involved it was going to be a three-team deal i think with the white socks um so though those were real talks they really happened and they got pretty
darn close and then obviously
Kyle Tucker became available.
The Cubs pivoted there real fast and
Nico Horner is not available anymore.
And I doubt Nico Horner is available this summer.
It doesn't make a lot of sense for the Cubs to
trade Horner this summer.
So yeah, this is an interesting trade.
I wrote a little bit last night on my
substack. I haven't published yet, but
I also went back to the Cubs to look for a Luis
Castillo trade. And the Cubs are interesting.
There's a little
there's a little bit of an odd fit mid-season for a Luis Castillo type of trade.
So what I actually came up with, I came up with Owen Casey and Jackson Wiggins.
So a very similar deal.
Just for Castillo straight up, though.
I didn't have Gabe Spire involved.
And if Gabe Spire is involved, probably won a little bit more than this because
Gabe Spire himself is a really good piece.
But the Cubs are interesting because you're not going to get Matt Shaw.
You're not going to get Cade Horton.
Those are like their two best young players.
their number three prospect.
I can't remember his name.
He's a catcher.
He can hit a little bit.
He's gotten a cup of coffee in the big leagues this year.
It hasn't gone particularly well.
But he's young.
He's only 21 years old.
Seattle has Cal Raleigh.
They have Harry Ford, right?
Like he could play first base.
So that is still an option.
Owen Casey is really interesting because the tools are off the chart.
He makes a ton.
Well, part of the problem is he doesn't make a ton.
of contact but when he does it's very loud and it's very uh you know powerful so there is plus
power here he's a good athlete going to play a plus right field strong arm uh probably 30 home run
power probably can steal you 15 20 bags uh in a good year but he strikes out a lot and
yeah that is that's what i was going to bring up yeah uh it's also i'm looking at his
prospect savant page right now
54th percentile
on chase rate 26 percentile
on whiff rate
25th percentile on on contact
on pitches inside the strike zone
that's very much in line
with who the mirrors are right now by the way
he swings very hard
and he comes up empty a lot
yeah but then on the flip side
92nd percentile on hard hit rate
96 percentile on barrel percentage
94th percentile on
max exit velocity
the 90th percentile on average X-Vlossi.
You get the point.
You get the picture here.
Yes.
Like I said, when he makes contact,
it sounds like a missile going off.
Yeah.
He just doesn't make a lot of contact.
So there's a trade-off there,
and he's not a center fielder.
He's a right-fielder.
So you're not getting premium defensive positioning here.
So it's a weird profile.
Casey's kind of one of those,
like,
fan graphs had him seventh in the Cubs organization.
MLB pipeline has him second, I believe.
There's a wide gap there, and we know that the mayors have been trying to cut down on their strikeouts a little bit.
Casey's still 21, 22, I think, so he's still young.
But again, because I looked at the Cubs last night, the other guy who might make some sense here, Kevin Alcantra, also an outfielder, also just about MLB ready.
He strikes out a ton too.
Very similar issues to Casey.
So, yeah, it's kind of a weird thing there because, again, you're not going to get Horner midseason.
You're not going to get Shaw.
You're not going to get Kate Horton.
Could you maybe get like a Ben Brown and in Owen Casey?
I don't know, maybe.
But the thing with Castillo is that he's still a very good pitcher.
And he is a pitcher with multiple years of club control.
But he's not a number two, you know, like when the Mariners traded, acquired him.
So what's his value?
It's probably a little bit less than when they acquired him.
but we know that this is more of a seller's market now than it was back then.
And we know that the Cubs have interest and Castillo is still very good,
even if he's not a number two.
So it's a very weird type of trade if you're going to try and trade Castillo to the Cubs,
as I discovered last night.
But I think Casey and Birdsell, I think that's in the range of what's reasonable to expect.
Are we overlooking the Gabe Spire aspect of the steel, though?
Well, I was about to say, and then you throw in Gabe Spire on top of it.
Yeah.
Like, you need more than this, in my opinion, if you're going to trade Gabe Spire.
Because Spire by himself probably net you a pretty good prospect.
I mean, Gabe Spire right now, we talk about how valuable lefties who can miss bats with consistency are.
13.32Ks per nine this year, 216 walks per nine, 216 ERA, flat 2, Phipp, 0.7F4.
Spire has been really good and he's under club control for the next two years after this.
Yeah.
I think you're selling low on Gabe Spire here.
I don't think Gabe Spires are throwing.
Yeah.
No.
So, yeah, I think the Castillo part with the prospects you're getting back, even though they're not the best prospects, they're like, they have some red flags.
I think because Castillo also has red flags, maybe.
And one of the benefits of trading Castillo benefits for the Mariners is the payroll space that you clear that we know unfortunately matters.
Yeah.
But now you throw Gabe Spire on top of that.
It feels light.
It feels light.
And again, the Cubs are already kind of a weird fit in season because they're not going to trade Nico.
So I think overall, I like the idea behind this trade.
I think it's just a little bit of overkill with Gabe Spire being involved.
So I think that knocks it down to a 40, but obviously the Cubs are a good team to target with Luis Castillo.
And it's just the Cubs farm system right now, the guys who they probably would trade,
have some pretty serious red flags that the mayors have tried to avoid recently.
And then there's the money aspect.
And now you're throwing Gabe Spire on top of it all.
I think this trade gets knocked down to a 40, but I think you're on the right track.
Yeah, I'm with you on the 40.
All right, we got a couple more trades to go over in just a moment.

the breakfast foods yesterday because of the Italian breakfast nickname. So it actually got pretty
decent reviews from the commenters. They actually liked it a little bit. So, but anyways,
no doubt Pasquintino helps you. No question. I'm a little concerned your pain for
more for control than you are for impact.
Like Pasmantino's a good hitter.
He's not a great hitter.
He's 110 WRC plus guy, give or take.
He's, you know, but you get him for three, four years.
He's 27, I believe, no mistaken.
I think so, yeah.
Yeah, so like, but again, it's a 110 WRC plus first baseman.
Is that worth a top 100 prospect in Johnny Farm?
one with the upside that Marmello has.
I don't know.
We talked about Pasquitino yesterday,
and he kind of seems like a guy who might be available.
The Royals need outfield help,
and they have Caglione up now,
and he's a first base slash outfielder,
but better suited for first base.
And so Pasquitino might kind of get pushed out a little bit here.
But again, he's a 110 WRC plus first baseman.
Yeah.
Like there's just a limited value to that.
Not that it's not value it's not value list.
It's just not he's not a 130 first base.
And he doesn't play first base.
And he doesn't hit for traditional first base pop either.
Right.
His career high at Homer's is 19 and 13 and 131 games last year.
Which again, when you factor in, you're not getting that pop from third base either.
Yeah.
I'd prefer if the bearers are buying and they're buying a first baseman at the
line. If this is what it's going to cost to get Pasquitino, I'd rather that they just look
elsewhere at Ryan O'Hern and Josh Naylor, Nathaniel Lowe, go down that list. That's just too
rich for who Pasquitino has been. And it's, and it's like, he doesn't necessarily
counteract the lack of traditional first base home run power with a different elite tool,
either. It's not like he's getting on base
on an insane club. Like his career
on base percentage is 335.
Yep. He doesn't strike out
which is great.
But
I just
he's just fine.
He's fine and I don't think
Johnny Farmello is worth paying
for just fine.
Right. I think
the cost of Pasquantino
is heavily influenced by the number
of years of club control he
as and I would rather pay less for fewer years and probably get more impact.
Like I'd rather give up Michael Morales for two months of Rhino Hearn than I would give up
Farmello plus for, you know, three years of Pasquantino because Pasquantino is just
merely solid, solid first baseman.
I can get a solid first baseman for, I mean, last year it cost me what,
Jonathan Classe or whatever R.J. Shrek, I think, is the official trade there.
Yeah.
Like, okay, I'd rather go get this year's Justin Turner and pay that price than pay for
a 110 WRC plus first baseman who doesn't hit for traditional power.
I just, if you can get them cheap, fine.
Yeah, absolutely.
But I'm not trading a premier prospect for, you know, a slightly above average bat at first base.
Yeah, I'm going to go 35 on this one.
I'll go 40-ish
Pascontino's a
name we haven't talked a lot about
although if you listen to
CTZ yesterday
maybe that's where he got the idea but
yeah I'll go 40
all right last trade of the day comes from Jeremy
Tai Pete Tyler Locklear and Jeter
Martinez to Arizona for
once again Josh Naylor as well
as Jalen Beaks the
left hand of reliever
Does this get it done?
Yeah, Beeks adds another layer here.
He's been pretty solid this year at memory serves.
So, yeah, this is it.
Pete's had an interesting year.
There's still a ton of raw tools there,
but he hasn't performed particularly well.
Locklear, I don't know how much value he would carry.
because even if
like the
even if the diamondbacks
traded Nailer, they would probably
just put Pavin Smith at first base
and ride with that
for the rest of the year. So I don't know if Locklear carries much value
to them. Jeter Martinez is just a lottery
ticket. Like at this stage, he's
a noteworthy prospect, but
not much more than that.
So really, I mean, at the end of the day, the deal
is kind of like Pete
for Nailer.
And then it's Locklear and Jeter Martinez for Beaks.
I don't, I,
how much does Arizona love the raw tools of Taipei?
Because, yeah, a lot, a lot relies on that.
A lot relies on them looking at what he's done so far and going,
that's fine.
He's a project.
You know, we know that it's going to take some time,
but we really believe in the tools.
We believe that we have the tweaks in place to make in order to get him on the right track.
Taipede is a really interesting prospect when it comes to rental trades because he's kind of the ultimate lottery ticket, really.
Yeah.
There's just a lot of ifs here.
And I mean, that's ultimately what Fan Fiction Friday is.
It's just a bunch of ifs.
But there's an extra amount of ifs here involved.
I would say that the Diamondbacks are saying no to this.
I think you.
Yeah.
I think you need to have a more.
solid headliner here
like a Royal
someone like that
especially if you're also getting beaks and now
Beaks is obviously a rental as
well but Beeks is you know
again talking about
left hand of relievers who miss a ton of bats
now he's not getting a ton of strikeouts he's not getting
as many strikeouts as Gabe Spire
is this year but he is like
80th percentile in WIF and 80th
percentile in Chase so he's missing a lot of
bats he's keeping the ball on the ground
there's going to be
value in that even if he is a rental.
So him on top of
Naylor, and again,
obviously, you know, teams will be able
to pivot away from Naylor
if they want. So teams do have some
leverage there. You know, they can go,
well, you know what? We're going to go see what the Orioles want
for Ryan O'Harn. And we're going to go see what the nationals
want for Nathaniela, whatever.
But Naylor is having a great year.
I just, I don't think
this gets it done. I really don't.
If it did,
I do this deal 10 times.
time.
Yeah, I think I would too.
Which is kind of why I'm like the Diamondbacks are saying no to this.
Probably, probably, yeah.
Tai Pete, just quick, he might be the perfect prospect to try and flip for Luis Robert because you're both taking gambles.
And Pete is five.
I mean, right now, Tai Pete is not anywhere close to him.
Like, he's not five years away from the big leagues.
He's never sniffing the big leagues where he's at right now.
But the talent is still.
the raw tools are still insane.
So yeah, Pete's a tough guy to evaluate in these trades.
It's really more than just about any prospect, except for maybe Harry Ford.
It's really beauty in the eye of the beholder here.
But I think this ultimately still is too light for Arizona.
So I like Locklear for Beaks.
I would do that in a heartbeat.
I'd probably, I'd consider Tai Peat for Beaks if the Mariners were in a better position.
Like if it's, hey, we've added a couple.
bat's already and like we're yeah we're in first place or we're game back and like yeah i i would
okay like type heat for for a second lefty out of that bullpen who can come in and miss bats and
and really you know pitch some leverage endings for me sure i i would consider that but i think
overall the pack is just a little too light for a arizona to consider i think if you added a
michael arroyo type of guy this would get pretty interesting uh but as it sits right now i think
I'm going to give this one of 40.
Yeah, I'm out of 40 as well.
All right, that is going to do it for our show.
We will have more fan fiction Friday episodes coming your way between now and the trade deadline.
We might issue a couple of challenges like we did towards the end of the last cycle of fan fiction Fridays that we did.
Leading up to the start of the regular season where, you know, maybe we'll go, hey, you can only do selling moves or, hey, you can only do selling moves.
or hey, you can only target this particular player or what have you.
We'll come up with some creative ideas and see what you guys come up with.
