And on today's episode of Lockdown,
Mariners it's fan fiction Friday you submitted your mariners trade ideas we'll be grading as many as we can
on the 2080 scale 80 being the best possible idea imaginable while 20 is a absolute trash so we are going to be
getting into these trades right now and you submitted a ton of them there are a lot to go through here
both on Twitter and via email at lockdown mariners at gmail.com so pretty much this whole episode
it's going to be a lightning round from us when it comes to reading out and grading these trades because
we want to get to all of them so let's start with the ones that we got via email and cole here who
submitted a few days ago a trade with the cardinals in which the mariners trade abraham
Toro and Justin Dunn to the Cardinals for Tommy Edmund.
Colby, what are your thoughts on this deal?
I don't quite understand why you would trade Toro for Edmund.
Yeah, I mean, like Edmund's a good player.
Don't get me wrong and certainly has a bigger track record than Toro.
But Toro carries just as much offensive upside, if not more.
So, yeah, to me, I just look at this and I say,
is that like enough of an upgrade to i mean because basically the deal is it's toro for
for edmund i mean let's just call it what it is i i think i might rather take a shot on
on torro um like i said edmund's better now but is he so much better that you know that
there's similar players right and it really depends on what you want right now do you want the
guy that has the longer track record, the one that's a little bit further along,
maybe, but I think you're fine with Toro and then you don't have to spend, you know,
done as well here to get a guy who's pretty, pretty similar, really, in terms of value.
Yeah.
Obviously, Edmund's done it a bit longer and has been pretty successful.
He was a two and a half one player by Fangraf standards this year, but I don't think the difference is as,
is as big as it needs to be for me to make this deal.
If I'm the Mariners, I'll give this one a 50.
I give it like a 45.
Edmund is, you're hoping he's Adam Frazier.
You already have that guy.
So I'd rather roll with Toro.
All right.
Thank you for the submission.
Cole.
Cole also wanted to know what we would give the Frazier trade,
the Adam Fraser trade, the real Adam.
Fraser trade.
Do you want to give a grade on that one real quick?
I'd give it probably like a 65 for the Mariners and like a 40 for the Padres because
I mean, honestly, might even be less for the Padres because of what they had to give up for
Frazier than he wasn't all that good for them over the last two months of the season.
Then they give them up for.
They go to Capita Mercano to Corey Rozier and Ray Kerr.
Yeah, I don't like that factors.
That should factor into the trade because we're.
only grading this specific trade.
For the Mariners, I'll give it a 60.
And for the Padres, I'll give it a 45, 50.
Yeah, no, I think you should.
I think you should include those things, though, because that's a pretty big L for
A.J. Preller to take.
It's a pretty big L.
podcast.
So go listen to Lockhart's.
Well, I'm telling you why I'm giving you, I'm giving them that score.
All right.
Connor has a trade idea.
It's a three-team deal.
and it is a big, big one, wapping one.
The Mariners, wow.
All right, you ready for this?
So this is a three-team deal with the Mariners,
Reds, and Mets.
And once the Mariners get Jesse Winker, Sunny Gray,
Mike Moustakis, and Jeff McNeil,
where the Reds get Noelvi Marte,
Kyle Lewis, Brandon Williamson,
Levi Stout, and Ronnie Maricio.
And the Mets get Luis Castillo and Eric Swanson.
Something feels like unbalanced about.
this.
I mean, you look at like the Mariners,
they give up Marte, Lewis, Williamson,
and Stout for Winker, Gray,
Mustakis, McNeil. I mean,
probably.
It's not a bad haul.
They do get rid of for the Reds. They do get rid
of Mustakis' contract and Sunny Gray,
who they want to move anyways, but
now they have to move Jesse Winker,
but, I mean, they
would get Maricio
out of the deal,
who's a very nice prospect.
But for me, the Mets, if you're the Mets, why wouldn't you just go to the Red and say,
look, this is a little too complicated.
We don't want to move, Mauricio.
We'll just give you McNeil for Gray.
McNeil says three years of club control.
I mean, the breads can turn around and flip him than to Seattle.
The deal is unnecessarily big for me.
I don't think the valuation is, like, grossly far off.
But it just, it's bigger than it needs to be because these three teams could line up nicely,
where Seattle gets McNeil and the reds get sunny gray,
even though the Mariners want sunny gray.
So, yeah, it just gets kind of a little too messy for me,
but the valuation's not too far off.
So I think I'll give it like a 50.
It's pretty good, definitely creative.
I'll give it 55.
I'll give it a 50.
It's kind of messy.
Like it's just way too big.
There's just a lot going on.
And something feels unbalanced about it.
but I'll give it a 50. It's creative.
So let's go to Daniel here.
Wow. Okay.
Mariners send Jared Kelnick and Brandon Williamson to the White Sox for Luis
Robert.
Daniel hates Jared Kellick.
Yeah, he's submitted a few Kellnick trades, right?
Yeah. Robert, the White Sox aren't going to trade Robert.
and why would they for Kellnick who I mean you're kind of hoping becomes Louise Robert in a way
and also Williamson you know and don't want to discredit Brandon Williamson who's who's one of the
I mean criminally underrated prospects in the entire game right now um yeah but the white socks are better
than the Mariners there are a bigger world series contender than the Mariners are right now so why would
they take a step back yeah prospects it just it doesn't make sense from their standpoint
Um, if Robert was, I don't know, 20, like 27 and he had three years left to club control.
Uh, then yeah, you probably consider something like this, uh, because he's a very good player with a lot of upside and a lot of, you know, a really good defensive center fielder and all that stuff.
So you definitely feels the need for the Mariners.
He's just not available.
Uh, the White Sox are not going to.
Not for that.
No.
I mean, it, I just, I don't think there's anything.
could give the white socks that would force them to to listen on the louise robert type of
trade so um so creativity is pretty high because we hadn't heard robert name robert's name for for
well the entire off season but um it just it doesn't make sense for the white socks because they're
not rebuilding so i'll give it a 40 i'll give it a 30 sorry um let's do one twitter uh proposal and then we
We'll do our little ad read and come back and grade some more trades.
Let's start with Nat Ling at Nat Ling 34.
Glaber Torres, Yankees shortstop second baseman for Brandon Williamson.
If I'm the Mariners, I'm not doing this, frankly.
No.
Yeah, I, I,
Torres, like, I like the idea of trying to get Torres and seeing if maybe you can go for the upside play there.
but for Williamson,
for how Torres has played over the last couple years,
that's going to be no Bueno for me.
That's just a little too rich for my blood.
So I'm going to give this one a 40.
Yeah, I like the idea of Glaber Torres at third base,
even though he hasn't played much there.
But yeah, his last two years have been atrocious.
and Williamson is too good to give up for a guy who has that many question marks.
Honestly, if you're willing to do that for Glaber Torres,
just go trade the bag of peanuts it's going to take to get D.D. Gregorius
and get pretty much the same production and keep Williamson.
So I'll give it a 45, though, because I do think it's, it's, again, Torres not a guy we've talked a lot about.
And I do think he would be available in the right deal.
And Williamson isn't so far off.
It's just not something I think the Mariners would do.
All right. So more trades coming on the way. But real quick, a reminder. This episode of Lockdown Mariners is brought to you by Bilt Bar. It's the New Year. So that means New Year's resolutions. And if yours is about getting fit or eating healthier, make sure you include Bilt Bar in your plan. Bill Bars the protein bar that tastes like a candy bar, maybe even better than a candy bar. You want to eat healthy, but it just gets so boring by like week three, you might be thinking, this is just not worth it. Where is the chocolate? Well,
Bilt bars are covered in 100% real chocolate, and most bell bars even contain 130 calories,
4 grams of sugar, 4 net carbs, and 17 grams of protein.
Meanwhile, compare that to a candy bar, which usually has around 240 calories, 30 grams of sugar,
and dozens of net carbs.
Now, here's an idea for the new year.
Go to all your secret treat stashes at home in the pantry, at the office, in the car, wherever.
They're out all the sugar of your calorie-filled treats and replace them with built bars.
So when you're craving a snack or treat, you can reach for something.
that's healthy and tastes incredible.
And there's so many flavors
that choose from. Coconut almond, peanut butter
brownie, raspberry, cookies and cream,
salted caramel, mint brownie, and
many more. In fact,
Bilt is always coming out with new limited time
flavors, so check out Bilt.com
often to see what's new.

You're listening to Lockdown Mariners,
Thank you again for making us your first listen of the day,
just like you do here every day.
We greatly appreciate the support.
Let's get into more of these trades that you submitted,
and we got a lot to cover the rest of the way.
So we're going to continue a little lightning round strategy with this, if you will.
Let's go to Derek Brown at Derek underscore Brown 7,
who has a Brian Reynolds trade.
this is a target that's been popular for for a lot of these proposals over the last few weeks
uh pirates outfielder bryan reynolds to the mariners for prospects no lvy marty
and then also kyle lewis is involved in this deal Connor phillips is involved in this deal
and isaiah campbell is in this deal uh that to me is not going to get it done for the pirates um
because really like marty and phillips are probably the two biggest pieces lewis carries a
lot of uncertainty right now with the injury the fact that jerry depoto his own gm has outright said that
they don't know where he is going to be able to play this year um that that plays a role and uh and
probably you know scaring some teams off on that front so i don't think the pirates they're uh
going to be jumping for joy at the steel especially when reportedly they wanted julio rodriguez
um no levi martay great prospect top 10 top 15 in baseball but yeah um needs at least a
secondary piece that's kind of in that Marte range and probably more I don't know but yeah the
simply put this isn't going to get it done for Reynolds it's probably what Reynolds is worth though
if we're being honest it's it's probably about what the pirates should be looking for but
they don't sound like they want to be realistic and why would they Reynolds has four years left
to club control they don't need to move them right now and he's young enough that he fits into
there rebuild if they have a plan for that at all.
So yeah, they should be shooting for the moon here.
I think it's a fair evaluation of what Reynolds is worth.
Maybe a little bit better than Phillips as a secondary piece.
But other than that, I think it's about what the pirates should expect in terms of what
offers they should get.
But I don't think the pirates are going to do it because they're looking to somebody to
overpay.
So I think I'd still give it a 50 though.
It's pretty good.
I'll give it a 45
All right
So Luke
Snitzler
L at L
Snistler on Twitter
The Merrinerson
Wow
Okay
Jared Kellnick
Noel V Marte
and Emerson
Hancock to the
Guardians for Shane Bieber
Um
Look I like Shane Bieber a lot
One of the best pitchers in baseball
When he's healthy
But three of like your top five assets
six assets, seven assets, whatever.
Depending on how you feel about Hancock.
Yeah, no, that's too rich for really any player,
if we're being honest, especially a, you know,
a starting pitcher who's coming off of a pretty significant injury
and time missed.
Just, yeah, that's way too much for the mirrors.
Not to mention he had some struggles after they banned the sticky stuff.
Spinner rates went way down.
It's a legitimate concern.
We don't know if that's related to that or the injury,
but it did coincide pretty nicely.
So you at least have to ask the question.
I said, Beaver is a great pitcher.
I wouldn't do that about the Mariners.
I think, you know, it's kind of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
So you have Robbie Ray's your number one
Just focus on the Sunny Grays
Frankie Montas
You know
Coal Irvin like that type of guy
And you know maybe in July
Bieber makes sense
But the Indian
I'm sorry did you just rope Cole Irvin
Into the same category as Frankie Montas
And Sunny Gray
Mariner legend
Can not call Irvin
I could not let you get away with that
Of course I did
Mariner legend Cole Irvin
But you know
Also the Guardians
have shown no real interest in rebuilding as of yet.
So, I mean, it doesn't sound like they're shopping Bieber.
It doesn't sound like they're shopping Ramirez.
So they're probably thinking they can compete this year.
So, yeah, I just, to me, it's, it's, I don't think the, I don't think Cleveland does it.
And I don't think the Mariners would either.
But it's definitely, you know, thought-provoking.
I mean, Cleveland would be honestly kind of stupid not to do this.
Probably, but Cleveland's kind of stupid.
So, I mean.
Yeah.
I'll give it a 35, 40, somewhere in that range.
I'm going to give it a 30.
Ouch.
Yeah, sorry.
It's way too much.
It's just way too expensive for the Mariners.
It's just not something that they should do because they're not one player away.
They're not one pitcher away.
And that's selling off three of your, you know, most valuable assets and one deal for one guy who has some injury concerns now.
And some performance issues since the, you know,
since the 60 stuff like you said as well so i just yeah it's a lot um all right so oblivion
at zero underscore collins underscore one um Kyle lewis Levi stout and sam carlson question mark he says
for cedric mullins maybe another almost MLB ready pitching prospect instead of sam carlson
he adds um yeah no the the the the Orioles aren't going to
do this.
The Orioles are saying.
The Orioles are going to ask you for Julio, like straight up.
And you're going to say no, and that's going to be the end of the conversations.
I don't believe that Mollins is actually available.
I think the Orioles are saying they'll listen, but I think they want somebody to come to
them and say, hey, do you want Julio Rodriguez?
Yeah, someone in that range.
Yeah.
So, no.
It's, that's just not going to get it done.
I like Cedric Mollins, but he's far from a sure thing.
And to expect him to repeat what he did last year, probably asking too much.
So there's a lot of risk for Seattle.
But at that price, Seattle should do it in a heartbeat.
And other teams would beat it.
So I'm going to give that one like a 35, 40.
I don't know if we have many Cedric Mollins trade ideas, but I'll give that one.
I'll give that one a 40.
It's just Seattle's going to have to pay up even more.
And even if they avoid giving up Julio, they're going to have to give up, you know,
Hancock
Kirby
Brash no LV somebody like that
So yeah your your leading piece has to be better than Kyle Lewis
Yeah
I'm gonna give this one a 30
Honestly
You're mean
It's a it's just it's not gonna get it done
Mullins I mean the Orioles look
The Orioles don't have many
Valuable majorly assets right now
And they are going to hold on for dear life
To the to the few that they do have
that actually have like legitimate trade value right now.
And Mullins is coming off of a career year.
He's still young.
He's still got more than a year left of club control.
I just, I think they're going to ask for the moon.
I think they're going to ask for pretty much what the pirates are asking for
Brian Reynolds as ridiculous as that might sound.
And, yeah, that's just that's just not really in the ballpark in terms of what they're going to ask for.
so sorry.
All right.
Mike T.
at M6374.
Robert Hassel and Will Myers
from the Padres for
Drew Steckin Rider,
Zach the Loach, Jake Frailey.
Oh, that's it.
So Drew Steckin Rider, Zach the Loach and Jake Frailey
to the Padres for Robert Hassel and
Will Myers is a full salary,
by the way.
I
like I think
think that the Padres want to get rid of Myers's contract, I don't think they're desperate
enough to do it to attach hassle to him for just Steck and Rite and Deloge and Freely.
Yeah.
Freely probably doesn't even make their opening day roster.
So not that it's a bad thing to have depth and AAA, but doesn't do much along with the trade.
they would probably
honestly rather eat more
of Myers' salary
and get a better return than this.
I think Steck and Rider would make a lot of sense for them.
It was just Myers for Steckinrider straight up.
They would do it in a heartbeat.
And I do think Will Myers is a guy
who does make some sense for Seattle,
despite people seemingly thinking
he's a terrible player for some reason.
I still don't get that.
But yeah, I just think it's going to be
more than this.
And honestly, if you're Seattle,
you don't really need Robert Hassel.
I mean, like, you want to talk like Adrian Morrigan, then fine.
Like, we can have that talk.
But Hassel doesn't really do much for Seattle.
So when you look at it from a 2022 standpoint,
it's literally Myers for Steckenrider, Deloche, and Frey.
You're probably going to get more value out of Steck and Rider
and Freely this year than you will, Will Myers.
If Myers could play a competent center field,
this would be a completely different story, but he can't.
So I'll give this one, though.
It's definitely creative.
So I'll give this one a 50.
I think you can make this work.
You just have to rework a few things here, Mike.
Mike, yeah, I, I think hassle needs to be out of the steel.
I don't think the Padres would be that desperate at all to get rid of Myers' this deal.
Really, yeah, I think it's just you got to have them taking on some of that.
some of that contract and um you know and maybe a swap for second rider straight up would would make
some sense um but yeah as it's currently constructed with hassle and all the salary going to the mariners
etc and the return to the padre is not being great um i'm going to give this one like a 45 so uh let's
tell you about betonline. a g real quick and then we'll get into some more trade ideas bet online would

All right. So let's try to get in as many of these remaining trade proposals that we have here on Twitter as we can.
Starting with Daisy and the dingo at Daisy's dingoes.
I like this idea.
Matt Brash for Twins' Prospect
Second Baseman slash third baseman
Jose Miranda
I actually really like this idea
Um
You guys heard of your first
Ty hates Matt Brash
Yep
Clearly clearly that's what we've taken from that
Noted Matt Brash hater
Ty
No it's interesting because Miranda is probably the most
underrated prospect in baseball
If we're being honest
dude hit like 344 with a 400 on base and a 570 slugging this year in the miners 30 home runs
he doesn't strike out doesn't walk a ton but it's not like he won't take some walks
I want he's only 23 he's I wonder if you're trading for Thai France
which is fine and I mean literally Thai France a guy who can only play first base
Miranda plays second he plays in third but he's not very good at either spot
kind of like Thai France
you're not going to be wrong obviously you're happy if you get Thai
Francis multiple Thai France France France's
Thai France whatever the plural Thai France is
and Miranda's been pretty good
you know but this was really the only year where he's been like
an exceptional and like huge prospect so
is it possible that he just popped out of nowhere at the age of 23?
Yeah, sure, definitely.
To trade Matt Brash for it, I'd rather have the pitcher than a corner out, corner infielder, more than likely, who's probably best suited for first.
But I do like it.
It's definitely creative.
And it's one of those deals we could spend like hours talking about.
So I'll give it a 55.
Yeah, I'm going to give this one a 58.
I think it's a really interesting deal.
ultimately I probably keep
Brash if I'm the Mariners
But yeah it's a really interesting idea
Prospect swap I like those
And then this is one that certainly makes some sense
Because Miranda could potentially fill a hole at third base
And it seems like he's probably ready for the for the challenge
Of Major League Baseball are pretty close to it
After the year that he just had
So yeah
I really like that proposal
Good job Daisy
so let's let's move on here um oh wow so we actually have another beber trade proposal man you guys
are really focused on the guardians uh this week and wow this is a biggie uh c l henson at c l red pill
on twitter jose ramirez and shame beber for noel v martay justin don't kyle lewis abraham
Toro, Emerson Hancock, and Matt Brash.
You're going to need Julio Rodriguez in the Steel or Jared Kalick or whatever.
This is just like, even though that there is a lot being given up from the Mariners side of things,
there is not, look, and I love Noel V. Marte.
I think he's a fantastic prospect.
Even then you need to be going a lot higher if you're trying to trade for a Sy Young candidate
and an American League MVP candidate in one swing.
I don't think that there's anything really if we're if we're being honest
I don't think there's anything the Mariners could give up where they're going to get both
Bieber and Ramirez in the same deal and again it kind of goes back to the to the
conversation that we had about Bieber just a second ago that you know you're not one or
two guys away because like even if you do get Ramirez and Bieber while those guys are
fantastic players and significantly boosts your roster
and your chances, you're still not done.
And now you've given up a ton of capital in the process.
So I just, yeah, there's a lot going on here.
For me, this deal, while, you know, I appreciate the sentiment.
Probably I feel like I got to go like a 40 or 42 here.
It's definitely quantity over quality.
and that's not to say Marte and Hancock and Brash aren't really good prospects,
but Dunn is a reliever at best.
It's how you have to seem right now.
Lewis, you can't count on.
Toro is a big question mark.
So to me, if I'm Cleveland, I'm going to go,
why are you willing to go up those three?
Just give me Julio.
Give me Julio and give me, you know, Brash,
and let's just do that.
And, you know, I just, I don't see Cleveland doing this.
And again, Cleveland is a really tough team to gauge because, you know,
they don't trade guys when they should.
they trade them at the worst time,
which means that Ramirez probably gets traded next winter.
Plus,
I do wonder,
you know,
how can big deals like this come together
in what is probably going to be a very short and time period
to get stuff done before spring training starts?
I don't know how big deals like this can come together that quickly,
but overall,
I'll give it a 45.
At least it wasn't,
you know,
Ramirez and Bieber for like Lewis,
Toro and,
and,
and,
and,
and,
and stout,
like,
there's some realism about how,
how good about how good the two pieces the Mariners would be getting are. So I'll give it a 45.
All right. So we, we're going to go super, super lightning round now. All right. I just want the grade.
And then we're, because we still got like seven or eight trades to do. I don't want to at least try to get to most of them here.
So, uh, you ready, Colie? Yep. All right. Daisy and the dingo at Daisy's dingos. Mariner's trade.
Emerson, Hancock, and Connor Phillips
to the raise for Josh Lowe.
Great.
42.
Phillips is only a deal.
Yep. 40.
At Tanner v. 202.
The Mariners trade,
Emerson, Hancock, Zach the Loach,
Levi Stout, or
Matt Brash, and Kaden Polkovich
for Ramon Luriano and Frankie
Montes. I'm going to go
40
because it's just
it feels like a lot. Especially
if it's brash instead of stout.
Yeah, because you hate leave my stout.
I'll go
45.
Loryano's overrated.
Okay. Aiden
at SFNE 58.
Mariners acquire
are Estee's Aquino from the Reds for Robert Perez and Diasan Arias.
45.
Not super excited about Aquino.
But you're not really giving up a lot either.
Yeah.
It's 50 because at that price, he's basically free.
But Aquino is not a mariner at all.
Strikes out way too much.
So yeah, if you want triple A depth, there you go.
All right.
Don't know if you saw this last week.
All right.
This is Tyler Cartwright.
at tie cart 50
Mariners get
Kane Chapman
and Montes Brewers get
Matt Olson
A's get Zach Deloach
Connor Phillips Levi Stout
Abraham Toro
Garrett Mitchell and
Ethan small
There's a lot going on here
I don't know
You got a grade for this one
Aaroners get Lorenzo Kane
Matt Chapman and Frankie Montes out of that
out of this
and they give up
Zach DeLoch,
Connor Phillips,
Levi Stout,
and Abraham Toro.
And possibly Williamson.
I think the Mariners
are giving up too much
for what they're getting.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well,
yeah.
Yeah.
It's a lot.
I'll give this.
Yeah.
They don't do.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Plus you're taking on Kane's contract.
And Chapman.
That's like $23 million in South.
Actually,
30 million.
dollars in salary you're taking on right yeah yeah it's it's too much um especially if
williamson is in there i'll give this one of 38 40 40 i'll give it a 42 without williamson
of 40 with williamson all right um all right let's try to do a couple more of these uh ones from
red elves and then we're going to hop off here uh meritors receive matt olson match
Chapman and Sean Maniah from the A's for Noel
V. Marte, Kyle Lewis,
Isaiah Campbell and Wyatt Mills,
25.
Not enough on the back end.
Yeah.
And also
Yeah.
Yeah.
Exactly.
All right.
Mariners get Cedric Mullins
from the Orioles for
Jake Fraley, Noel V. Marte, and Joe Rizzo.
Sorry, 20.
Freilly and Rizzo are worthless.
Yeah.
So 35.
At least you had no LV in there.
Yeah.
Mariners get Brian Reynolds for George Kirby, Kyle Lewis, and Harry Ford.
Valuation, not far off.
It's a lot, though, for the Mariners.
I wouldn't do it if I were the Mariners.
Just because it's Harry Ford's in there, of course.
That is irrelevant.
Also, George Kirby.
like no they're not trading two of those guys for Reynolds
talk to me in July when they're you know
15 games over 500 and they're in first place by three games
and Reynolds is on pace for another six win season
then we could talk about a deal like that right now
it's just it's too much for a team that's
you know still probably best classified as a wild card contender
yeah um yeah
uh it's uh it's
probably going to be
38 for me
okay
all right
so that's uh
I think that's all of them
so we did it kind of
sorry it's just kind of all over the place
and you know we weren't able to take our time
with quite a few of these but
there was a lot you guys submitted a lot
and at least we're able to
get to everyone's
so that's going to do it for our show
