Locked On Mariners - Daily Podcast On the Seattle Mariners - Julio Rodriguez Gets Back to What He Does Best as Mariners Take Series Against Rays

Episode Date: August 29, 2024

In what has unfortunately been a rare instance this season, Julio Rodriguez pulled the ball multiple times on Wednesday, including on a two-run blast to help solidify the Mariners' 6-2, series-clinchi...ng victory against the Rays. Ty and Colby react to that very encouraging development from Seattle's star, as well as the big days from Julio's outfield counterparts, Victor Robles and Randy Arozarena.Ask us questions!Follow the show on Twitter: @LO_Mariners | @TyDaneGonzalez | @CPat11Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!TonaITonal is the world's smartest and most effective strength training system that helps get you stronger. Starting point is 00:00:00 So the Marys actually won a getaway day game at T-Mobile Park. How about that? And it was thanks in part to Julio doing something. We've been wanting to see him do for a while. So let's talk about it here on the Lockdown Marrars Postgame show. Colby, hit it. You are Locked-on Mariners. Your daily Seattle Mariners podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Part of the Locked-on podcast network. Your team every day. Ahoy, Sailors. It is Wednesday, August 28, 2024. This is tighting as Alice and Colby Patnaud for the Lockdowne Marys Post Game Show. part of the locked on podcast network, your team every day. Marys beat the raise 6 to 2 this afternoon at T-Mobile Park.
Starting point is 00:00:42 That keeps them at three and a half games back of the Astros and wraps up a four and two first homestand for Dan Wilson. So congratulations to him. First time the Marys have won back-to-back series and a couple of months. So yeah, that's all great stuff. And now they head out on a very, very important road trip. And hopefully that one goes at least a little bit better than the last one. they embarked on.
Starting point is 00:01:07 Before we get into today's game, shout out to our title sponsor today. Game Time. Download the GameTime app, create an account, and use the promo code Locked on MLB. That's L-O-C-K-D-O-N-M-L-B for $20 off your first purchase. Terms applied. Download game time today. What time is it?
Starting point is 00:01:23 Game Time. If you want to hear from me and Colby even more and help support the show, check out our Patreon. The link is in the description. You can sign up for a free seven-day trial. So the mayor's picked up one game. on the Astros and the series, have the opportunity to pick up two games.
Starting point is 00:01:38 I just unfortunately couldn't get it done. Yesterday, they win today, but the Astros also win today. They blow out the Phillies. Thanks a lot for that, Taiwan Walker. But some progress being made here.
Starting point is 00:01:51 The bearers seem like they're playing some better ball overall. Kind of past the point of, you know, buying in, especially on a small sample size. But what we've seen so far under Dan Wilson has been more good than bad. Colby Hunt. How are you feeling?
Starting point is 00:02:08 Pretty good. You know, they've just won back-to-back series. So I haven't done that. I think it's been 10 weeks since they've done that since I've won back-to-back series. You have to go all the way back to, I believe it's like the June 10th where they took three or four from Chicago and then swept the Texas Rangers. So, yeah, it's been a while since they've won back-to-back series. You know, it's it looks like they're.
Starting point is 00:02:35 playing some cleaner ball. The offense looks marginally better, although it was still obvious road bumps on the way. That's not going to go away. That's not going to change this year, just accept that that is the reality of your situation. You're going to have games where it looks like, you know, a varsity club is playing a 10-U team in a tournament. You're just not going to have a shot on certain nights. No matter how good you're starting pitching is, you're just not going to have a shot because they're not going to be perfect, essentially. We saw that last night.
Starting point is 00:03:04 So, you know, it's nice to win back-to-back series. It's nice to pick up, you know, a couple of games in the last, you know, five, six days on Houston to kind of, you know, give yourself a legitimate shot here and stay in the race as Houston's starting to play, you know, you're starting to come back to the pack just a little bit as their schedule tightens up. So it's good to see overall pitching in this series was really good. with the exception of, you know, the bullpen last night. The home run issues reemerged for the Mariners pin. And it's been pretty common here this month. The Mariners are bullpen is handed a lead, albeit a small one. And they just start giving up, you know, giving up the bomb.
Starting point is 00:03:50 And there's just not enough time for this offense in particular to recover most nights when that happens. So yeah, overall, feeling reasonably good. They've won four of six here while Houston, I believe, has, you know, they've gone three and seven. Or they've won just three of seven. So you picked up a game and a half, two games on them in the last few days. And, you know, we've talked about this like what is realistic to, you know, what's a realistic goal to stay in this playoff race and make that Astro series have meaning? You're about halfway there to where you need to be for that Astro series to have any meaning. whatsoever and you've got a couple weeks to make it happen.
Starting point is 00:04:33 So, you know, understanding that you're going to lose on days where the Astros are going to win that's going to happen at some point, probably multiple times. It does make last night a little more frustrating when they lose and you have a chance to get back within two and a half. And your offense just honestly looks disinterested. Like they've never seen a change up before in their lives. So that's a bummer. But, you know, they went today. They win the series. And that's really all you can do if you're the marriage.
Starting point is 00:05:00 have to keep winning series and, you know, what the Astros do, you can't really control it, but you have to win series. And that's just the only way you're going to get back into this. You have to get into a spot where you get to that Houston series. And if you're a game back or better, then you have a really good shot to, you know, control your own destiny and get into the, and actually be in the race. If you're two back or more, it's going to be a little difficult. It's going to be a little bit difficult to infer that series to me and anything.
Starting point is 00:05:30 unless you sweep Houston. And so that's really the goal is to get within a range where when you play Houston three times, the outcome of those three games matter greatly. And ideally, you don't have to win all three of them for the outcome of those games to matter. So, yeah, you know, overall feeling pretty good. Pitching was pretty good. Again, aside from the two innings, the bullpen had to cover last night. You know, offense, a couple decent games, one crappy game.
Starting point is 00:05:58 I think that's just the new norm, the new reality of the situation. J.P. proffered his back was immediately put in the leadoff spot, which is gross, but, uh, yeah, I don't, I don't know why that happened. Um,
Starting point is 00:06:11 Victor Robles setting nine as a result of that. And Robles had a great day today. JP, not so much. Obviously it's his first game back, but he did have a major, major oopsie at, uh,
Starting point is 00:06:24 at a point in this game where, um, he hit into a double play and either he forgot how many else there. were or he just gave up on the play and was like well that's a sure fire double play i'm not running that out uh either option is bad folks either option is is not uh right great because the best case scenario is that your captain uh forgot how many outs there were in a tie game in like the third inning like not not you know at the end of a 10 to one game or whatever no tie game in the third inning where every single game that you play from here on out is more or less a playoff game.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Like it's getting pretty close to being that time where any loss is devastating to you. And he forgot how many outs there were. Like that's best case scenario. Lack of concentration, lack of effort for J.P. Crawford, not a great sign. Again, that's best case scenario is that he was just absent minded or lazy or whatever, however you want to put it. like best case scenario. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:29 Not great, but, yeah, they still win this game six or two, so I don't want to harp on that too much. But yeah, the Astros are hosting the Royals starting tomorrow. The Royals have historically played them very well over the last couple of years.
Starting point is 00:07:44 And the Royals are on a bit of a heater right now. They've caught the Guardians at the top of the AL Central. The Guardians blew a nine-game lead in the AL Central. That sounds familiar. So yeah, we'll see how that goes. So tomorrow, because you're off, you're either gaining or losing half a game, depending on what happens in that Astros Royal Series. So you're either three back or four back by the end of tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:08:08 So we'll see. All right. Well, today was a really good day for Julio, a very important day for Julio. We saw some really encouraging signs out of him from his big day on the field today. We're going to go over that in just a moment. But first, a reminder, this episode of The Locker, on Marys podcast is brought to you by Liquid Ivy and once again game time. And down in New Mexico, there are zero pro sports teams. And a lot of the bands and artists that I listen to skip going there more often than not.
Starting point is 00:09:44 So when I moved to Toronto where there's a baseball team, a basketball team, a hockey team, even a soccer team, and there's great music being played every night in the city. Yeah, I was right in my element. And when I want to catch a ball game or my wife and I want to see a band, I always get our tickets through game time. And that was the case well before GameTime sponsored our network and before I even join the network because it is truly the best ticketing service hands down. I really, really believe that. And now it's getting even better thanks to Game Time Picks. And you're listening to the locked on Marrars podcast. You can catch all the action between the Marrers and the Angels Friday night on the Marriss hometown broadcast of Sirius XM via the SXM app. All you have to do to find that.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Search the word Mariners. Julio. How about him today? He goes two for four. He had three hard hit balls on the day. He had a two run home run to put this game further out of reach for Tampa. And guess what? He actually pulled the ball today a couple of times.
Starting point is 00:11:27 the home run being one of those instances and then in his first of this of this game he pulled the ball he pulled a four seamer on the inside corner from Drew Rasmussen and hit it with authority for a single that was
Starting point is 00:11:43 one of the most encouraging things I've seen from Julio frankly all year so hopefully this is a sign of things to come now it's only one game and you know as recently as as yesterday he was still hitting everything to right field and was still, you know, chasing and all that that we've talked about with Julio over the last, really, you know, it's not even since he's returned from injury just over the last, you know, four and a half months since the start of the season. But, yeah, what were your impressions of Julio today, Colby? Yeah, it just looked really good.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Obviously, the two hits. Ironically, the home run was his softest hit ball of the day. Well, of the three hard hits, I should say. left the bat at just 95 miles an hour, but you pull it down the corners at Team Mobile Park. You don't have to crush it to hit home runs. We've talked about this. If you can put it down the line,
Starting point is 00:12:35 you can get some cheap home runs. And, you know, Julio's not exactly cheap, but just 95 miles an hour off the bat. So not one of his more majestic shots, but whatever, we'll take whatever you can get. He also had a screaming line drive that Yondi Diaz made a great play on that. Probably would have gone for a double. So Julio had a shot to have a fantastic day at the plate.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Instead, he settles for a really good day at the plate. And he also made some really nice plays defensively in this one. He had a diving catch running in on a Yanni Diaz blooper. And then he had the sinking liner that he had to try and deal with the ball hit right at his eyes. I can't remember who at that one. I believe that was Carlson. I don't remember either. I think it was Carlson.
Starting point is 00:13:21 So, yeah, made a couple really nice. nice plays in the field. He pulled the ball a couple times, including once for a home run. And he hit the ball hard three times. Didn't strike out in this one. Even took off and tried to steal a bag. I think he probably did. But whatever. Yeah, on the on the on the on the close up angle of that, it looked like Caboero's glove was just in between Julio's arms. I don't know if it's like made contact with chest. Yeah. It seems like it just went right between his two arms. So to
Starting point is 00:13:46 me it like that was worth a challenge because of yeah. But like I texted you, they weren't overturning that. I don't know. They weren't returning. Replay is unpredictable, which is the exact opposite. It's the exact wrong way to do it. Like replay, like replay challenges should not be unpredictable. They should be incredibly predictable.
Starting point is 00:14:06 And in that one, it looked pretty clear to me. Remember, strings don't count. It has to be part of the glove. Didn't tag him until it was here or like square in the chest at which point his arms are outstretched. So this is the, this was the second time we've seen him try to steal a bag since the injury. So it seems like he's getting more comfortable. And it doesn't seem like we're seeing him grimace as much after, you know, running first or what have you or after taking swings.
Starting point is 00:14:33 So it does seem like maybe he's he's finding a way to. Because like let's be let's be clear about this. Like there's absolutely no shot that like the pain is just gone. He's still managing the pain. But it seems like he's finding a way to manage the pain a little bit better than he was at first. Yeah. Again, looked really good in center field today running balls down, getting good jump. he's funny thing is that like running in a straight line he's still like very fast like the ankle
Starting point is 00:14:58 injury hasn't sat like i think his first hit was that infield single or whatever and it was like a 30 feet per second sprint speed which is elite so you can still run in a straight line it's just the sudden twist or the sudden like turn on the ankle rounding the bases or something like that is always going to be an issue so uh but yeah and i think there's also some probably a little bit of concern of him becoming stationary and then trying to push off of that ankle really quickly. So seem kind of keep that ankle moving at all times to try and keep it loose. So, but yeah, he looks, he looked healthier today than he has. A big part of that is probably just because he hit the ball hard a couple times,
Starting point is 00:15:35 including to his pulse side. So he just looks healthier because, you know, we're not swing experts, but it's real easy to say like, oh, well, his ankle's bothering him. That's why he's, that's why he can't hit 92 on the inside corner. So, yeah, he looked pretty good today. And it's great to see because the Mariners desperately need it. It was a great day for the outfield in general offensively. Victor Robles goes two for three.
Starting point is 00:16:00 Randy Rose, Rana goes three for four. The outfield in general goes combined seven for 11 today with a trio of home runs. Victor Robles had the first of two to run shots in that fifth inning before Julio had his own. And then Randy caps off, you know, the reverever. revenge series essentially with a big day today he set up that first run that the mayor has scored in the in the second inning of this game gets on base vance the second on the throwing error advances to third on some aggressive base running on the on the fly ball from horre polanco and is able to score on the the sack fly from luke raleigh that was huge it does appear at least you know
Starting point is 00:16:43 for now again we're only six games in but it does feel like they've kept their aggressive mindset on the bases that they had in the final game in San Francisco. It feels like they have carried that over a little bit here. And, you know, they're starting to get healthy. And they have some guys who can legitimately steal some bags. You're talking about Robles. You're talking about a Rosarena, Julio. You know, we'll see if he gets back.
Starting point is 00:17:05 Fulgo, Dylan Moore can certainly steal some bags. Luke Rayleigh is capable of stealing some bags. So it does kind of feel like the mayors have looked at their roster and been like, I mean, we're going to strike out so much. We can't just sit around and wait for the three-run homer, although they've got a couple big home runs in this series. So we're not saying we don't want to hit home runs, but we just can't sit around and wait for it to happen.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Sometimes we have to make our own breaks. And so so far, I think it's fair to say that the Dan Wilson regime is much more inclined to attempt to manufacture runs than the service one. But again, also, it's only six games. Right. I think it is just like assessing what you have, though. Right. How do I make this work in spite of how inept this offense truly is, right?
Starting point is 00:17:53 Like, there is, they have given you no reason to think that they can string together hits. Now, they might do it on occasion like they did, you know, against San Francisco the other night where they, you know, had six hits in a row. That's the outlier. That's going to be a very rare instance where that happens. So how do I actually manufacture runs, especially with how good this pitching staff is and how, you know, more often than not, they're going to keep this game close. Right. So, you know, the difference can truly be a matter of a run or two.
Starting point is 00:18:25 How can I get that run or two, right? And it's really just kind of by any means necessary type of thing. And look, sometimes it's going to bite you, right? The aggressiveness is going to bite you sometimes. But you're hoping that it's just, it's going to work out more often than it doesn't. So, yeah, you know, kind of a fun note here. That's a little bit hard to believe. The Mariners are the most efficient base stealing team in baseball.
Starting point is 00:18:47 really yes they are number one in base stealing success rate it's about 82 percent so you know and they're about middle of the pack in terms of stolen bases they're 12 13 14th somewhere in that range uh so they don't run a ton but when they do they seem to pick their spots really well uh and again the keep in mind that's they're doing that without julio who's a very good base dealer basically hasn't attempted to really steal many bases since june uh they've really put the clamps on him so Robles has been fantastic at it. Randy has started to do it a little bit more. Dylan Moore had, what, four steals in the last series alone?
Starting point is 00:19:26 So again, they're trying to put the ball. They're trying to put pressure on the defense to make plays. And they are pretty good at stealing bases. When they decide to do it, they're really good at making sure that they're safe. You know, they're good at it. They don't do it a lot, but when they do, they're very good at it. So why not? If you're good at something, why not try and do it a little bit more?
Starting point is 00:19:47 well we've we've seen a couple of steel attempts at third base pan out for them as well you know rubless scores on the on the errand throw by alex jackson last night uh dillamore steals third and the the bottom of the 10th against the giants and which leads to the walkoff uh so uh particularly in those situations as well they've had a lot of success and that's led to some pretty big swings in these games um so huge uh and again huge day for this for the outfield in general at the plate. Victor Robles had himself quite the day. I also just saw a picture of him on Twitter of him
Starting point is 00:20:25 in between innings jumping the fence and right field to sign autographs. So Victor bringing the energy. Yeah, last night he went for a ball and he jumped up on it and he just dab somebody up. So Victor, yeah, having a lot of fun. You know, he went through a real rough stretch there for a while. And so you hope that, you know, him kind of creating a run out of nowhere last night, getting a couple hits today, including the home run. Like you kind of hope that maybe, just maybe him actually being able to sit in, you know,
Starting point is 00:20:57 matchups that aren't necessarily advantageous to him can keep him fresher and can keep his production up because Robles is the guy who brings a lot of energy today. And the Mariners today in general actually had really good, like, vibes. You know, Julio was laughing and joking around. Robles is doing his thing out there. we know Randy is a vibes type of guy so the Mariners today went to 43 and 4 this year when scoring at least five runs honestly my takeaway from that is not the same takeaway that I think a lot of people have when they see that stat my takeaway is they they've scored five plus and 47 games this year yeah um the that there's a number going around the last couple days,
Starting point is 00:21:46 what their record is when they score four or more. And they've won like 55 of 68 or something like that. So I was just curious, I did the math on that. Over the 162 game schedule, that win percentage is 135 wins. So this team just scored four runs a game. And obviously there are some games where, you know, they won four to three.
Starting point is 00:22:08 There are some games where they were, you know, they lost six to four. So it's not like if they scored, just flat four every single night. They'd win 130 games. But I'm thinking if they scored a flat four every single night, they'd probably be the best team in baseball record-wise right now. So again, we're not asking for much.
Starting point is 00:22:28 We're really not. We're just asking for a league average offense here, folks. Oh, I can't even imagine what that must be like, although they had it last year. Yeah. But this pitching stuff is somehow, some way even better than it was last year. And, uh, yeah, if you paired that with, uh, a league average offense, who boy.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Be having a lot, a lot different conversations than we're having this year. Anywho. All right. Let's, uh, let's talk about Luis Castillo. Uh, let's wrap things up on this game in just a moment. But first, a reminder this episode of the lockdown era's podcast is brought to you by prize picks. Prize picks is the easy.

Once again, you can catch all the action between the Marers and the Angels Friday night on the Marr's hometown broadcast, Sirius XM via the SXM app. All you have to do to find that is search the word mariners. So it's a very good thing that the mayor is won today
Starting point is 00:24:20 because had they not in addition to the Astros loss, there was also this interview with Ryan Divish and our friends over at Marine Lairte and Lyle that had some interesting and let's say not so
Starting point is 00:24:38 great things in there about how the marers could approach this off season and I've seen you guys on Twitter ask us our thoughts on on some of that uh we might get into that tomorrow because i don't really know what else we're going to be talking about anyway i mean we're going to talk about this upcoming road trip but other than that i don't really know so we'll probably get into some of that tomorrow but also uh we're just going to get the man himself on the show we're going to get ryan davish on the show and ask him about some of that stuff we have some
Starting point is 00:25:04 or i at least have some follow-ups that i want to ask about uh some of the stuff that he talked about on uh that interview and uh just some other questions that i have uh for him uh so We're going to do that on Friday. That's the plan as of now. He's going to be down in Anaheim, so maybe something changes with that. But for now, we have him scheduled to join us on Friday. So look forward to that. All right.
Starting point is 00:25:27 So Luis Castillo pitched today. Five and two-thirds innings pitch, six hits, two earn runs, a couple walks, four strikeouts. Give up the home run to Josh Lowe, who apparently is the only guy in the raised lineup who can consistently hit the errors. Looks pretty good at Team Mobile Park. That's all I'm going to say. Sure. Sure.
Starting point is 00:25:50 So just, you know, bank that for the off season, maybe. Maybe we'll revisit that. Castillo, it's been kind of a crap shoot as of late with him. And the fate of this series
Starting point is 00:26:03 essentially hinged upon his success today on the mound. And he was fine. Give up a lot of hard contact. Command wasn't all the way there. But overall, gave the team a chance to win, almost goes a full six innings today. What did you think about his day? Yeah, pretty interesting.
Starting point is 00:26:22 Castillo's having a really interesting month where his stuff might be the best we've seen it like all season. Like just consistently, he is getting a ton of strikeouts, a ton of whiffs this month. But his command and control is all over the place. You know, he's looked great. And then he'll give up three, you know, three home runs, two of them solo and then a two run homer. and his final stat line doesn't look very good. We've also seen him pitch incredibly well, for example, against the tigers at T-Mobile Park,
Starting point is 00:26:52 and he just gets BAP-Hip to death, and he gives up three runs and six innings, and it looks like it's worse than it is. So we look at like ERA and stuff for the month, not a great month for him. But when you watch him, like, pitch and you look at the stuff, like it's incredible stuff. If he had 50 command this month,
Starting point is 00:27:08 he'd probably be challenging Brian Wu for pitcher of the month. He just most of the time this month, he's at a 40, 40 grade command. You know, and he's walking just enough guys. He's getting into just enough three ball counts that it's kind of limiting how good of a month he's actually had. But he's pretty solid today. I'll say this, this is probably the most effective fastball. We're going to see from Castillo this year, four seamer.
Starting point is 00:27:34 15 whiffs on the four seamer on 39 swings. That's 38% whiff rate. Anything over 30 is pretty darn elite for, a whiff rate on a four seamer. So, you know, he topped out at 97, sat 96 most of the day. It wasn't as though the fastball was, you know, 100 miles an hour. He was sitting a couple miles over what he normally was. He was just getting a ton of value out of that pitch.
Starting point is 00:28:00 He threw it 65 times. And he got 39 swing. So obviously the Ray's game plan was to be very aggressive on the fastball. And when he's throwing as many fastballs as he did today, 67% of the pitches were forcing fastball. 19% of the pitches were two seam fastballs or sinkers. So, you know, 86% fastball today. He was going right after guys.
Starting point is 00:28:22 He ended up with 19 whiffs on the day, 36% whiff rate, seven called strikes. So 60 strikes on 97 pitches, pretty good. I gave up the home run on a changeup that was down. It was at the knees, but it was in the middle of the plate. So, you know, not the best location, not exactly where you want it. But overall, I thought he was pretty good today. It was just fastball dominant. Here it is hidden.
Starting point is 00:28:45 We're starting to see the mirrors do a lot of that. Brian Wu obviously always does that and Bryce Miller does that too. But we saw both of those guys going to this, going to this series and just say, here's the fastball hit it. And today the Ray's not really able to make a ton of contact with the fastball. When they did, they average 93 miles an hour exit be low, which again, when you have 15 whiffs,
Starting point is 00:29:10 but your average exit ofilo is that high, kind of speaks to what we're talking about, where the stuff is really good, but the command is just not consistent enough. So that when he's on the corners, he's unhittable, when he's in the middle of the plate, no matter how good the stuff, it's going to get hit.
Starting point is 00:29:25 It's probably going to get hit hard. That's what fastballs do. You leave a fastball in the middle of the plate. It's probably going to get hit hard. So again, just kind of a really, I'd say a typical August start with the exception that he only gave up the one home run. Like he was able to keep the ball in the ballpark for most of the afternoon.
Starting point is 00:29:42 which has really been his big bugaboo this year or this month. So Castillo, really good stuff. Control and command. Some days it's a 55. Some days it's a 35. And it's 35. He's liable to give up three, four home runs. If it's 55, he might go eight shutout innings and strikeout 12 dudes.
Starting point is 00:30:01 Like he has that in him. So Castillo, having an underrated year, he's been really solid. And he's an easy guy to hate. He's an easy guy to say trade him this winter. And maybe they should consider it. but he's having a really solid year. It continues to be a fantastic bargain at what, $22 million year, $23 million year, for a guy who's going to go, you know, 190 innings again,
Starting point is 00:30:23 strike out more than a batter per nine and run, you know, a FIP in the mid-threes. Like he continues to be a really good value. So solid day for Castillo. Awesome. Both was really good today too. Has been really good. That curveball to Yandi Diaz for strike three to end his day.
Starting point is 00:30:41 in my head somewhere over the rainbow started playing watching that thing just drop out of the sky and freeze yondi did that to matteo right where it just oh yeah yeah yeah he medina dim yeah he'll throw that pitch every once a while now he'll just drop this big like loopy curveball uh from i believe goldsmith says from the heavens yeah and he'll drop it on the top line for strike three only curfall he threw today just the one all he needed both has been very underrated uh to the point now where it's almost like it's awesome both like a priority resigning uh so i mean like look i don't think he's a high leverage guy uh but when you look at what he's done in the middle of the merr's bullfin uh this year including the ability to
Starting point is 00:31:36 give you more than three outs uh there's a lot of bright red on his stat-cast profile, including 97th percentile on average exit fee low, 83rd percentile in Chase, 82nd and whiff, and 99th percentile in hard hit percentage. It's incredibly tough to square up. And he gets enough whiffs and swing and misses that he can actually get strikeouts in key spots. So both continues to be very underrated. Him and Snyder, you know, Snyder getting a lot of the buzz right now, rightfully so.
Starting point is 00:32:03 Colin Snyder's been exceptional as well. But both has been exceptional, really, for all but three or four outings this entire season. So hopefully he is, you know, the Mariners plan is to bring him back. And he probably can't do it for a couple million bucks. He's not going to cost a ton of both. Has been very good. Really underrated guy in that bullpen. Yeah. All year. All right. That is going to do it for our show.
