Welcome to Locked-on Mariners, part of the Locked-on Podcast Network, your team every day.
Here's your guest host filling in for D.C. Lundberg, John Miller.
Thank you, Joey Martin. D.C. is not able to join us today. He has set out on a pilgrimage to find the perfect flaw in recipe.

Last night's pitching matchup pitted the veteran Rich Hill of the raise against the Mariners Justin Dunn.
The umpires for last night's game. At first base, we had Quinn Walcott, at second base Nick Lentz, over at third base, Edwin Moscoso, and behind the plate, the veteran umpire Cowboy Joe West.
Ray's pitcher Rich Hill was seen talking to Cowboy Joe West several times throughout the game.
The rumor going around is that West is asking Hill to sing backing vocals on West's upcoming song.
We'll have to see if that actually comes to fruition.
The Mariners game saw very little action until the third inning, just a few hits here and there.
Unfortunately, Justin Dunn did not make.
it that long. He only completed two innings last night as he was removed from the game with
shoulders discomfort. This may be a little bit alarming because he already had a stint on the injured
list with the same issue earlier this month. Before leaving the game, Dunn allowed just one hit
and struck out one batter. In the top of the third inning, J.T. Chargua was sent in to replace
Justin Dunn. As I stated, the action really did not get started.
the third inning. It was in the bottom of the third inning when Shed Long led off when Shed Long hit a lead-off
double to right field. Taylor Tremel then had a bunt ground out to the second baseman and drove long
to third base. J.P. Crawford came up and singled on a line drive to deep left center field,
driving in long and scoring the first run of the ball game. The Rays then picked up on that in the
top of the fourth inning, G. Man Choi led off with a single to center field, and then Randy,
and then Randy on Rosarena came up and hit an O2 pitch off of J.T. Chargwa into the left field seats
to score himself and G. Man Choi. Then in the top of the fifth inning, the raise were added again.
Brett Phillips walks off of Mariners pitcher Raphael Montero with Brandon low up. Phillips then
Steele second. Lowe then hits an O2 pitch single to left field driving in Brett Phillips.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Mariners decide to strike back. Luis Torrens drives a
one-two pitch off of Rich Hill, who will not be singing on Cowboy Joe West's latest song,
to deep left center field into the seats. It is a home run for Luis Torrens. The top of the
sixth inning, the raise are back at it again.
Randy Arroserena, singles to second base.
Anthony Mischavitch replaces Raphael Montero at this point.
Austin Meadows comes up and on the third pitch from Mishavich,
I know I'm butchering his name, I am sorry.
He doubles driving a Rosarena to third.
Joey Wendell comes up and hits a sack fly to center field,
scoring a Roserena and driving Austin Meadows to third.
Taylor Walls comes up and strikes out swinging on three pitches.
Kevin Kiermire comes up, singles to the shortstop, and scoring Austin Meadows.
At this point, the Tampa Bay Rays are up, five to two.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Mitch Manager-Hanniger leads off against Rich Hill,
and on a two-two pitch, it's a line drive past the shortstop into left field.
Brings up, Ty Franz comes up, takes a big swing, and hits a ball in a deep left
field into the stands scoring Mitch Manager, Hanager. The score is now 5 to 4. Nothing really happened in
the game at this point. From the bottom of the 6th inning through the bottom of the 9th inning,
once again we saw very little activity, some hits, a bunch of strikeouts, but not really very
much else going on. We moved to the bottom of the 9th. The Mariners are down 5 to 4. Mariners are
down five to four. Dylan Moore leads off against Pete Fairbanks with a walk. Jake Bowers comes up,
singles to center field, drives more to second base. Louis Torrens, it's a bunt pop fly to the third
baseman out number one. This brings up Shedlong, hits a line drive double to left field,
driving in Dylan Moore and sending Jake Bowers to third base. Taylor Tremel comes up. Oh wait,
it's not Taylor Tremel. We have Corey's brother.
Kyle Seeger comes up, pinch hitting on an 0-1 pitch.
Seeger, it's a line drive just past the diving second baseman into right field,
scoring Jake Bowers and winning the ballgame.
The Mariners come from behind in nine innings.
Corey's brother with a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth wins it for the M's.
The Mariners now have 35 wins, 36 losses, and they are sitting in third.
place in the American League West. For today's trivia corner, this middle infielder played in the
80s, 90s, 2000s, and 2010s. He won 11 gold gloves, made three All-Star teams. He had 80 home runs,
77 triples, 456 doubles, 2877 hits, 14455 runs, 404 stolen bases, had a 272 career batting
have. Would you consider this guy for the Hall of Fame? We'll find out the answer after a word

The answer to our trivia corner slash hall pass is none other than former mariner Omar Vizkel.
Would you consider him for the Hall of Fame? He is still currently on the ballot. Only time will tell
if he does indeed make it.
Coming up, I'll attempt to place a call on air to D.C.
to find out what his recipe findings are.
Now back to Locked-on Mariners and your guest host, John Miller.
Thank you, Joey Martin.
Welcome back to Locked-on Mariners.
I am now attempting to place a call to D.C.
Hello, D.C.?
Are you there?
Oh, sorry, folks.
I guess we've lost him.
We can't reach D.C.
seed to find out what his Flan recipe findings are. Hopefully he can get back to us after the weekend.
Today's matchup against the race pits former St. Louis All-Star Michael Waka, who is one-and-one
with a 4.54 ERA this year in seven starts against the Mariners, You Say Kikachi, I do hope I
pronounce his name right. He is three and three with a 3.67 ERA in 12 starts.
He has 75 strikeouts and 23 walks.
This is fixing to be quite a game, folks.
Penultimate game in the series will raise pitcher Josh Fleming against the Mariners Logan Gilbert.
Fleming in his two years in the league is looking mighty impressive for a young guy.
Last year, he went 5 and 0 as a rookie with a 2.78 ERA.
He struck out 25 in all of his.
his five starts and only walked seven. This year he's not doing quite as well, but he is six and four
with a 3.20 ERA. And once again, it's 33 strikeouts and 13 walks. He's not bad. The Mariners,
Logan Gilbert, in his rookie season, is two and two with a 4.13 ERA. He has 29 strikeouts and
eight walks. Let's hope he can improve, move that ERA down, and add a few more wins to that. He looks
to have a promising career. Let's hope that pans out. The rubber match of the series sees Ray's
pitcher Shane McClanahan up against the Mariners, hopefully longtime ace, Marco Gonzalez. McClan
right now is two and two in nine starts with a 4.42 ERA.
He has 46 strikeouts and 13 walks.
Gonzalez is not having the season we hoped he would, folks.
He is only 1 and 4.
I had to drop him from my fantasy team.
He's just not working out.
In 8 starts, he has 36 strikeouts and 15 walks.
His control is not there.
He is getting hit.
He's giving up a lot of runs.
Let's hope that he can do some work
with the pitching coach and get back to what he did. In 2018, he was 13 and 9. In 2019, he worked his way
to 16 and 13. And last year, he was 7 and 2 and had his ERA down to 3.10. He had 64 strikeouts
and all of seven walks. He's already doubled his walk total from last year in three less
games. He played 11 games last year. He has played eight games this year.
year. I hope you can turn it around, Marco. We really need you. Do you have a question or comment for DC?
Perhaps you would like to know what it was that sent him off on this pilgrimage to find the
perfect flon recipe. If so, if you'd like to know anything, send your emails, locked on mariners
at gmail.com. Question comments on any subject or welcome and highly encouraged. Doesn't have to be
about Mariners or baseball or sports at all.
D.C. does prefer questions about bowling, curling, music, and baseball.
But anything is acceptable.
Just please keep it appropriate.
This is a family show.
Coming up, we find out if Rich Hill is really going to sing
background vocals on Joe West's new song.

We now return to Locked On Mariners with your guest host, John Miller. Thank you again, Joey
Martin, I am Locked-on
Mariners contributor John Miller, filling
in for DC,
who is off trying
to find the greatest
flan recipe. We will
find out if he does.
And now, for your
listening pleasure, we bring
you something rare,
something that has never before
been witnessed in
Major League history. In one of the
weirdest versions of the play you will ever
see, the scorebook
read a 136-256 triple play. The first time triple play like that has ever been recorded,
according to the Sabre triple play database. This is also the first time in franchise history
that the Yankees have turned two triple plays in the same season. After allowing a lead-off
walk to Marcus Simeon and a single to Bo Bichette, Yankee's starter, Michael King,
was up against slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
He throws a wild pitch, moving runners to second and third, and in the process, King throws
three straight balls. He does battle grower to three-two count and watch his grero fouls off
the next two pitches. The eighth pitch of the at-bat was a sinker near the inside corner.
Blue J's slugger chopped at it awkwardly, and the ball came floating back to the mound softly.
King filled it cleanly, tossed it to DJ Lemayu at first base for the initial out.
LeMayu then threw it to shortstop, Glaber Torres in the middle of the infield,
who quickly sent it to Gary Sanchez, sentencing that Mark and Simeon was in no man's land between third and home.
Backstop then threw it to third baseman, Gio Ursula, who tagged Simeon out.
Ursula then spun around, quickly tossed it back to Torres, who tagged out a sliding bobbocet
is he tried to advance from second amidst all the chaos.
For those of you scoring at home, and if you may have gotten a little bit confused,
that was a one, three, six, two, five, six triple play.
The pitcher to the first basement, to the shortstop, to the catcher, to the third basement,
back to the shortstop.
Look up the clip on YouTube.
It is fun to watch.
We do not see plays like this all the time.
That was great.
I absolutely love.
good fielding plays and perhaps one of the hardest things for me as an umpire over the years
is that I get paid to stand there and watch these great plays but I don't get to cheer them on
like an ordinary fan. So when you watch a play like this it is great to be able to cheer it on
even if you don't really like the team. Seeing the pure talent is what baseball is all about.
Well that'll do it for this one gang. DC may be back tomorrow if he happens to
find the perfect flaw in recipe. If not, we will keep you informed as to what happens to him.
In the meantime, please remember to download and follow Locked-on Mariners. Look for us on any
podcasting app you can think of. Leader rating, review of your podcasting app of choice so
allows. Thank you very much for listening to me today. DC hopes to be back if he can find
the perfect recipe. If not, I may be filling in for him again. I wish you all a good
afternoon and go Mariners.
