All you have to do to check that out is click the link in the description of this episode.
Marries kick off a three game set with the Rangers tonight.
We'll get you set for that a little later on.
We're also going to be joined by the hosts of the Mariners Postcast,
which is our new show kicking off here on the Lockdown Marriage Channel.
Chris Crawford and Anderson Hearst are going to tell you a bit more about what they've got going on with that.
Colby, to follow up on our episode,
from yesterday.
We have some more injury updates from Jerry Depoto, who was on MLB Network.
This comes via Shannon Dreher, who says that Depoto said the Mariners are hopeful.
They will see both George Kirby and Logan Gilbert back by the end of this month.
It says outlook is better than what it was initially,
and that the plan for Kirby is to make, quote, at least two, maybe three rehab starts.
I assume the outlook part is about Gilbert's injury, that the outlook on that injury is better than what they initially thought.
So Kirby, like we talked about yesterday, he told the media that he thinks he might have a rehab start on Sunday.
That would presumably be either in Eugene, Oregon with Everett or down in Vegas with Tacoma, but both teams are not.
Washington this weekend.
So we'll see they might have him
go pitch for the Aqua Sox
down in Eugene just because it's closer.
But we'll see
on that. We'll see if
he actually does make that start
on Sunday.
But Kirby
threw 35 pitches in his
live bullpen on Monday.
And Hollander yesterday said that they
want him to get to about 75
to 80 pitches before they
activate him from the injured list.
So we'll see what the pitch count is for him
whenever he does make that rehab start.
But you and I talked about this a little bit on
yesterday's episode of CTZ that
seems like maybe the next road trip could be the earliest
we would see Kirby.
Maybe like May 21st, that final game in Chicago,
which would be a nice landing spot for him.
or maybe it's that final homestand of the month when the mayor has faced the nationals.
So we'll see on that.
How are you feeling about Kirby right now and the news about Gilbert?
Yeah.
So the Gilbert news is really no news for me right now.
It's a flexor bundle strain.
Like until he's on the mound throwing and he feels good and all that, like that's always going to be a concern.
And so the idea that, oh, it's a little bit better than we were hoping or than we thought it was going to be like cool.
but also that's not really news.
It's been like five days.
And so we still have another week and a half before they're even going to look at it again.
So we'll see what happens with the couple weeks rest.
But, you know, obviously there's the ramp up stuff at that point.
But we need to see that, you know, the injury is on the mend before we even talk about how they ramp them up.
So the Kirby thing is certainly more news slightly.
You know, I think we assumed three or four rehab assignments.
for him. Two or three would still put him in line for that May 21st start.
And really any start after May 21st, he's going to get an extra day off because the
Mariners have the following Monday off. So he would either you throw him in the last game
against the White Sox or you could throw him in a series against Houston.
And then his next turn would be on five full days rest instead of four because of the off day
on Monday. So that seems like a pretty good area to target.
here for George and the Mariners.
So yeah, we'll have to wait and see what they do on that front.
But it's certainly, you know, good news right now.
And this team really needs George Kirby, especially if Logan isn't going to be back by
the end of May or June or whatever.
So yeah, this team desperately needs George because he's, you know, fairly likely to eat
innings.
Now my first couple starts, you know, we'll see probably only go 75, 80 pitches like
Justin said.
But yeah, you're quickly approaching that period in your schedule where you're playing 10, 11, 12 games in a row without a day off.
And you can't ask your bullpen to cover four innings every single night like they basically have for the first 30 games of the year.
So, yeah, we'll see what goes down there.
But yeah, I think George, you know, obviously more optimistic on George than I am Logan right now.
But the big tells for George will always be the day after.
the start.
Like George wanted to pitch through this.
He was pitching through it, like early in spring training,
and it was just he wasn't bouncing back quite as quick as he did.
And so if he goes out there in Vegas or whatever,
Eugene and throws 50 pitches and the next day, you know,
it's not where it needs to be.
Then they're probably going to shut that down pretty quick.
So we'll see.
It's always the day after that, you know,
for an injury like George is always the day after.
Injury like Logan, it's the day of and then it's the day after.
And it's just one of those things that it's going to be a while before you fully trust
that the elbow is not going to snap on Logan.
Even then at some point, it probably will just because pitcher.
You know, that's just kind of the way it goes.
Sure.
We'll see on that front.
But yeah, overall, I mean, it's certainly not negative.
Yeah.
I just classify the little Gilbert.
tidbit is like that's no news until he starts getting back on the mound.
There's really nothing that we really don't know anything.
And then, yeah, for George, it's a little bit faster than I thought.
But I still think that, you know, that May 21st-ish timeline makes a lot of sense because,
like I said, any time after May 21st, you can give him a day off between an extra
day's rest between his first start and his second start.
And you might want to kind of, you know, ease him in a little bit as you get started.
you guess 75 to 80 pitches.
That's a little bit below what they like the guys to be at coming out of spring training,
but only by about 10 pitches.
So like it's not a huge deal.
So yeah, I mean, it'll be nice to have George back.
Hopefully he bounces back well after these rehab starts.
And he can be here in a couple weeks.
That'd be great.
Yeah, so far so good.
It seemed like he felt pretty good after his live BP.
We'll see what happens when he throws, you know, 50 or 60 pitches, whatever.
the cap is going to be for him and his first rehab start.
Yeah, Gilbert, I mean, it's just a little hard to believe that even if this isn't serious at all,
that he's going to be able to make it back before the end of the month.
Because still, he's going to be shut down from throwing for two weeks.
He's got to ramp back up a little bit.
I have to think that there's at least going to be one rehab start in there for him before he's able to get
back as well as
you know live BP
a couple of bullpins who knows
right but
that's going to take some time
especially because what
the re-evaluation period for him isn't even
for another week
yeah it's been exactly a week
since the injury occurred so yeah it'll be
at least next Friday
until they reevaluate him
just
I don't know I'm having a hard time
wrapping my head around him being back by the end of the month.
We'd love to see it as long as he is, you know,
everything checks out.
But yeah,
that seems a little too optimistic.
I still feel like even if this isn't that big of a deal,
the injury,
June feels much more likely just because of the time that it's going to take
for him to get back into the swing of things.
So we'll see.
All right.
So we are going to visit Chris Crawford and Anderson,
Hearst, they are the host of the Maris Postcast, which is our new show.
We're going to be kicking off next week here on the Lockdown Marrish channel.

And you're listening to the Lockdown Marrists podcast.
visit with Chris Crawford and Anderson Hurst, the hosts of the Mariners Postcast coming to you
next week. They're going to tell you all about what you can expect from that show. So as we told
you guys at the start of the week, Locked Out Marins is expanding. Now, Colby and I aren't going anywhere.
Just want to make that clear once again, but we are adding another show to the channel that's
not going to be hosted by us. It's called the Marys Postcast. And here to tell us more about
the Marys Postcast are the hosts. You guys I brought alongside Overse,
over at the Emerald City Spectrum, Anderson Hearst from KJR and Christopher Crawford,
who you probably already know from his channel, My O.Y and Molliwap Mondays on KJR, as well as NBC Sports.
Welcome to the channel, fellas.
Pleasure to be here, man.
Thank you so much.
Looking forward to working alongside you guys, welcoming you here to the Locktime Maris family.
So either one of you can take this.
I just want to know, like, what, what is?
is the Marrers Postcast? What is this all about?
So basically, if any of you guys have watched Mile Y for what Christopher Crawford does here
to my left here, he does an awesome job at after every single Mariners game recapping
exactly what just happened right after the final pitch happens. So the idea here is that we
go live on YouTube and we recap the entire game, not
from a box score perspective, more from a big moments perspective, you know, how was that pitching
decision, you know, what did the lineup look like, what was the big kind of turning point in the
game, whether it was a blown save at the end, which we haven't seen yet, thankfully, but, you know,
maybe a pinch hit decision, a missed fielding error, whatever it is, or maybe it's a blowout.
We talk about how good the offense is, which I'm surprised that we're doing at this point.
It's basically the idea is to kind of recap everything that you've seen in that previous game for about 15 to 20 minutes.
So you guys get basically if you're watching the game in a sports bar with your buddies, and me and Chris would be one of your buddies.
You would turn to us and be like, all right, what just happened?
What is your initial reaction to it?
And him and I would kind of bounce things back and forth.
I like to rely on him a lot.
He's more of the expert.
I'll kind of drive the conversation a little bit.
it and then he's going to tell me when I'm wrong and why I am wrong.
Yeah.
I'm looking forward to that portion of it quite a bit.
By the way, you see Anders Socials right there when Andres Munoz blows a save after
our first postcast, you know exactly who to go out.
Yeah, that's kind of my bad for manifesting that a little bit.
That's all right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I'm sensing a little like tie-in Colby dynamic here.
All right.
So we might not be skipping too much of a beat here.
No.
I like it.
I like it.
So when is this thing kicking off?
When can, you know, the people expect to see you guys for the first time doing a Marius Postcast?
And how often are we, you know, going to see the Marius Postcast?
It's looking like we are starting on Monday.
So Monday after the game, we will have our first postcast.
I haven't booked ahead of the schedule yet.
But I, the Monday, starting next week, I think that would be made.
fourth. So that would be the first time you see us. And after every single Mariner's game,
you will see a combination of me and or Chris. Most of the time, it will be both of us.
Sometime it may just be one of us if one of us has other commitments going on elsewhere,
which is another positive to having both of us on the show. But I like to have the banter with
Chris here. And you will see us after every single Mariner's game live on YouTube.
Yeah, it's kind of funny that our first game, I believe, is going to be against the A's.
Sacramento. So we're kind of starting off major league versus minor league right away.
Not because they're either of the minor league roster, just because they're playing in that
rinky dink stadium. So, you know, we won't have that much pressure on us.
Clearly. I love it. So, yeah, so I believe that's going to be May 5th, actually.
Oh, yeah. Yeah, Senko de Mayo. So that will be the first time you guys get to see
Anders and Chris here do the show.
And just to make things clear here,
Colby and I are still going to do some post-game shows
when it makes sense, right?
If it's a day game,
it makes sense for us to record after the game.
So we'll go a bit more big picture with it, right?
We're still going to do exactly what we do, like always.
We're going to really dive into the nitty-gritty of the game.
We'll get you sent for what's coming up,
all that good stuff like we always do here.
So, guys, again, I'm pretty sure a lot of people that are watching right now are familiar with you both.
But for those that are watching, that might not be, tell us a little bit about yourselves, about your background, being a Maris fan, all that good stuff.
I go first this time.
Thanks, Anders, for letting me finally talk.
It's nice to know.
Wow.
Yeah, exactly.
So for those unfamiliar, I've covered sports for a long time, a very old man.
You don't get this beard without experiencing some Seattle Mariner sports fan.
So I have written for NBC Sports a little bit off and on, actually a one-year break,
but since 2016.
But I've also written for baseball prospectus, vice, ESPN, a whole bunch of places.
I started my own YouTube channel in 2023.
My OI, it's been an absolute blast.
And I'm still going to be doing some stuff there.
I'm going to be doing a bunch of other sports.
But I'll do some Mariner previews looking at the series and stuff like that.
Won't do nearly as good a job as Ty and Colby do,
but I'll do my very, very, very best.
Oh, stop.
Yeah, yeah.
But yeah, this is, I've loved Seattle sports since I was unfortunately born in good old Tacoma,
Washington and have lived here for 36 of my redacted years. So I've always, always loved
this area. And I'm an apologist for this sports team sometimes. And sometimes I'm the
exact opposite of an apologist. But yeah, that's basically my background. So basically your fan is
what you're saying, which is great. No, that's something Chris and I share is I'm born and raised in Seattle.
I have not actually lived in any other city my entire life.
So my main gig is those of you who listen to sports radio, KJR, on the radio,
you'll hear me on Ian Fernessa's show.
I'm one of his producers.
But I also, you know, fill in for crack and broadcast here and then.
You'll hear me on Sounders Weekly.
I used to host my, well, actually, I host a off-season Mariners podcast with Chuck Powell called Stove.
while we kind of go through all the Mariners' moves and stuff like that.
But then once the season gets rolling along, we kind of back off that and let, you know,
Colby and Ty let them do their thing a little bit.
But, no, it's a blast.
I've also been covering sports for my entire career.
So that's something that I've grown up with.
It's in my blood.
And the Mariners team or the Mariners were the first team that I ever loved.
even though I kind of soccer is my playing sport because I played in college,
but in terms of covering and writing about and, you know,
being able to talk about the Mariners is my number one.
So you guys are coming in at a really good time.
Yeah.
He was 18 to 12.
Despite so many things going wrong.
So many things going wrong.
Hey, if things go south, you can't blame us.
Like, no.
Yeah, no.
Colby and I have already talking.
about this that we have an out now that if things go sideways we can link it back to you guys starting
up on the mayor's post guess that's totally fair that's god yeah i think with every outfielder that
gets placed on the injured list they just go stronger like it's absolutely crazy to see like every
single time somebody goes down with an oblique string or hip inflammation they just get better it's uh
it's magic but it's a lot of fun it certainly beats the alternative i'll tell you that much for sure yeah
Last year when they blew the 10-game lead in record fashion, yikes, we can directly link that back to having Gary Hill on the show.
We interviewed him and we were like, we're like, Gary, this is amazing, right?
He's like, yeah, and we're like, but how are they doing this?
The offense sucks so much.
Yeah.
Yikes, yikes.
Yeah.
Oh, poor Gary.
That's a lot of pressure.
I just got to listen to Gary for a full game for the first time in a long time.
And gosh, he's so good.
But I'll curse him now for ruining my summer last year.
It's kind of in between how I'm feeling about that.
Yeah, yeah.
I saw Gary in Toronto here about a week or so ago.
And I had to rip him a little bit on that for sure.
He had a similar situation with Jason Stark coming on the Ian Frenasio.
And he literally pointed out, hey, in the Wild Card era,
I hope you guys don't know this, but no team has ever blown a 10-game move in a while.
Oh, wow.
Literally, I think the clip.
We kept the clip and he says, does that make you feel better?
And no, no, it doesn't, Jason.
I love you, but no, it doesn't.
All right, guys.
Well, thank you so much for quickly hopping on.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you guys do here on the Maris Postcast.
I'm sure that we'll also, you know, collaborate from time to time as well.
You know, I need you guys to fill in.
Maybe we can do that.
If you guys need me to fill in, maybe we can do that, all that good stuff.
This is a family here now, the lockdown errors family.
So looking forward to having you guys join this family and looking forward to you guys starting on Monday.
And hope everyone watching right now will be tuning into that.
So appreciate it, guys.
I really appreciate it.
And I just want to echo what you were saying earlier.
Like, you guys aren't going anywhere.
This isn't a situation where we're filling in or taking over for anything.
This is something where if you're a locked on fan, you're going to be tuning into both of us,
you know, Ty and Colby before the game, getting a bigger picture of what's going on with the roster,
all that stuff.
And then Chris and I will be reacting to what you just watched.
And then by the time you need to get prepared for the next game, you're listening to Ty and
Colby the next day.
So make that a part of your routine.
And we're super excited to be here.
and I'm so thrilled and feel very welcomed about you guys.
So thank you so much.
This is a face that's only supposed to be on for 10 to 15 minutes at a time.
I'm just going to be honest with you.
This will be as much Chris Crawford as you really want.
So, yeah, we're really excited about the opportunity and I can't wait to get started.
Thanks, guys.
Appreciate it.
You bet.
And you're listening to the Locked-on Mariners podcast.
Once again, that is the Mariners Postcast coming your way after the Mariners game
against the A's on Monday, so look forward to that.
Be sure to check in with them and tell them how much you miss Colby and I.
Yeah, you know, sometimes new people come into your life and you don't love them as much,
but you know, whatever, you tolerate them.
Kind of like, you know, step siblings, but, you know, weird cousin that your mom feels bad for,
so he spends all your time at your house, like stuff like that, like that.
like that treat them like that
moving on
the mariners are going down to Texas
for three games this weekend
Colby and
uh
yes tonight
we're going to see Brian Will
pitch against Jack Lider
who had what a blister thing
what's that what he
didn't uh
lighter land on the aisle with like a blister
or something a while ago
so yeah
but overall he's had a really nice start to the year
seems like he's figured out some things there
so that's going to be a pretty tough match up there
should be a good one between woo and lighter
a couple of young talented pitchers
the Rangers are going to be without Corey Seeger
he's on the aisle with a hamstring thing
and the Rangers just sent down Jake Burr
who's really struggled to start the year
and they called up Blaine Krem of the Independent
who's apparently a real person
Yeah, the Krim guy's got like 2,500 plate appearances in the minor, so he's been around for a minute.
But still, you know, it's kind of cool.
See a guy stick around that long, make his major league debut.
Hopefully, he doesn't get his first hit, but we'll see either way, the Rangers are not operating at 100%.
And we saw that offense here in Seattle, and it already wasn't that impressive.
So could be good news.
Yeah, Jack Peterson has this WRC Plus up to 12.
12 now, which is better than Donovan Salado.
We'll get there someday.
Yeah.
But still very, very bad.
He does have five hits in like his last seven games, seven or eight games.
So not necessarily starting to heat up, but he is at least.
He's still a dangerous hitter.
Yeah, he's at least contributing now a little bit to their offense.
Marcus Simeon has been pushed down the lineup.
His rough starts of the year just continues.
a lot of guys struggling right now in this rangers lineup
which is good news for a merr's rotation that is beat up
and also has struggled quite a bit on the road to start the year
and obviously struggled on the road last year as well
sure it also makes them a little bit terrifying
because is this the breakout series
yeah I mean that's sure but I mean also again
it's not like you're rolling George Kirby and Logan Gilbert out there
in this series I mean
you feel really good about Brian Wu, but, you know, Castillo on the road this year,
been a little iffy.
And then Logan Evans making a second start in the toaster box that is Texas, like, you know, we'll see.
Going up against Jacob de Grom, by the way.
Yeah, yeah.
So again, if you want to keep your series streak alive, you probably should win the first two.
But then again, they handled DeGrom just fine.
And winning the first game has not been a prerequisite on this series run that they're on.
So who knows.
but yeah it's one of those things like yeah to grow him at home you have a rookie going up against him
you probably don't want that that game to decide the series but whatever you know the
marriage playing some good ball right now but obviously they continue to look like a different team
pretty much every single day as another starter hits the iL so yeah there is a little bit of a
like you know is this the series where things start to kind of fall a little bit like the
the pressure starts to become a little too much or can they continue to win and find these improbable ways to win with what is really a very mediocre roster due to the injury.
So injuries, I should say.
So yeah, yeah, it's a fun little six game road trip against the American League West.
You'd love to win both of these series.
And, you know, kind of continue to build a little bit of a buffer in between like the tiebreaker stuff.
Yeah.
So win series, you know, get the tiebreaker.
on these teams. Oakland's, or sorry, you know what, no, Oakland is playing good ball.
So they just took three or four from Texas, so I'm not mistaken.
So, yeah, the Rangers, kind of like the Angels right now.
They're struggling a bit.
The offense isn't getting going, but they still have good pitching, or at least they have
pitched well.
So we'll see.
It's like we all predicted, the Mariners are going down to Texas, and it is the Mariners elite
offense versus the Rangers elite pitching, just like we all assumed would be the case.
Yep, naturally.
early season baseball.
The guy that you want to get to right now in that Rangers
bullpen is Luke Jackson. He has had a rough
couple of last outings. He obviously made the
errant throw that led to that Little League walkoff home run for
Elliott Ramos in San Francisco that I'm sure
we've all seen by now. Then his last
time out when I was watching,
Rangers A's A's, he gave up a
game winning to run bomb to Brent Rooker.
So,
I think his confidence is a little shaken at the moment.
So if you see Luke Jackson step into this game,
you definitely want to get to that guy.
And then, you know, Jacob Webb,
the MERS have handled him very well in the past during his time with the Orioles.
So you see him.
Just about the only team that does hit, Jacob Webb.
Yeah, Hobie Molnar, though, had the mayor's number the last time
the M's saw the Rangers.
So we'll see if they make an adjustment.
to him if they see him at any point in the series.
Yeah, I'm sure we'll see Milner pitch against, you know, the Polanco spot to try and
force Dan to take his best player out of the lineup.
Dan should just tell Polanco to go up there and stand there, particularly if he's going
to get another at bat later in the game.
When are we getting to the point of him swinging from the right side?
Because in Boston, Brad Adam said that Polo told him he was.
only a few days away from doing that but now it's been a week we saw i've seen him
the up at that's against tyler anderson so yeah yeah so is this maybe the series where we see it
you got a you got a lefty starting tomorrow and patrick corbin so i don't know we'll see yeah
but if he's actually able to to hit from the right side i mean that would be huge in terms of like
what the rangers can do with milner i mean statistically speaking the right side is his best side to
So we'll see.
I mean, we's also talking about him being like close to playing in the field, close-ish.
And we haven't seen that yet either.
So I assume those two things go hand in hand that when he's swinging from the right side,
he's going to be playing in the field or vice versa, whatever.
Yeah, I think maybe like if he's, if it's like, for example, tomorrow,
like let's say he could play second base tonight.
He does that tonight.
Tomorrow against the lefty, he's going to be swinging righty.
Let's not put him in the field and have him swing right hand.
to let's see him tomorrow as a right issue.
I think we might see something like that.
But yeah, you know, I mean, right now, also part of it, though, is like, how much do you want to mess with what's going on right now?
Right.
Yeah, I have to wonder if there's, you know, maybe a little bit of rust from the right side.
And does that maybe mess at all with, you know, what he's got going on from the left side?
Sure.
One other thing I would keep an eye on this week is that this weekend is that yesterday or,
sorry, Wednesday against Tyler Anderson, lefty on the mound.
The Mariners moved J.P. Crawford up to the leadoff spot.
Do they do that today against a righty?
They should, but will they?
I don't know.
I guess we'll find out.
But that could be more of a permanent switch,
or is that just because Dylan Moore is not there to be the leadoff against the lefty
and, you know, they don't want to give it to Julio or whatever reason.
And J.P. has handled lefties.
Yeah, J.P. has been better against lefties, basically for his career.
So, yeah, that's an interesting thing to see.
I would like to see JP in the leadoff spot going forward, at least while he's hot right now and Julio's struggling.
So yeah, that's another thing.
And I assume also tonight, just a hunch, I assume we'll see the major league debut of Rylan Thomas,
unless the Mariners make a roster move between now and, you know, it'll be a couple hours after we're recording this.
But, yeah, I would assume Rylan Thomas gets his first start.
So major league debut, those are fun.
but you'll probably be hitting ninth playing right field but we'll see how all that looks but
yeah it's I think it's going to be a pretty tough series just because it always is but the Mariners
play Texas very well they have over the last year plus Texas is not the juggernaut offense they
were in the past and the Mariners are at least you know not throwing both Hancock and Evans
at them in the same series but yeah Logan Evans
first road start. We'll see how that goes. And yeah, you know, it's, they're playing good ball.
So you have to feel pretty good about it. But man, the injuries just continue to stack. I am shocked.
We haven't had another player put on the IL as we are recording this right now. So we'll,
we'll see if everybody can make it into the lineup tonight. But that's not always the case because
Luke Rayleigh made it into the lineup the other day and then he was scratched. So we'll see. But,
it should be a fun weekend
and hopefully the Mariners can
take at least two of three.
And yeah, you know, if they want to sweep
and push back the Rangers like
five and a half, six games back this early
in the year,
the Marys would never blow a five game lead
on May, you know, fifth.
Something like that, it's never happened.
I hate you. That's going to do it for a show.
