Mariner's lose their series opener with the Angels by a score of 7 to 3 last night. We're going to go over George Kirby's lackluster season debut. Seattle's ongoing offensive struggles and finally get you set for tonight and tomorrow's matchups with Anaheim. We also have some minor league assignments to go over. The Mariners announced their minor league rosters earlier this morning.
Starting point is 00:01:20 So we'll go over some of the notable inclusions on those lists. But first, Colby, let's start with George Kirby, the man that I picked as much. My Sy Young winner for 2023, not a great start for him. And his first appearance of 2023 only goes four in a third innings, gives up nine hits, four earn runs, including a two-run bomb to show Hey, O'Tani. That was pretty much the dagger in this one for the Angels. So what went wrong here, Colby? Because I look at the numbers.
Starting point is 00:01:52 I mean, nine hard hit balls. That's not great. but he posted a 38% called strike plus whiff rate. He didn't walk, really, he only had one walk. The numbers themselves don't look that bad, but this certainly was not a great start for George Kirby. So what happened? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:15 You know, I would say that there was a pretty clear lack of a really solid off-speed pitch for most of the night. The fastball definitely ate at the top of the zone. we saw a lot of swings and misses on 95, 96 at the letters or higher. But essentially, you know, the Angels had a really good plan of attack. They were going to be aggressive with Kirby knowing he was going to throw a ton of strikes. And he just didn't really have an off speed pitch that they had to honor outside of the zone. So, you know, it's just one of those things where Kirby was pretty sharp, but the Angels had a better plan.
Starting point is 00:02:47 And now we had to see how Kirby kind of how he changes things up. You remember the one of the blow-up starts he had last year was against Baltimore, and they did something very similar. They were very aggressive with him, and he was able to rebound off of that start and make some adjustments and fix it. So long-term, nothing really to worry about. I thought he was okay last night, all things considered. But, you know, you can't let Jake Lamb and Luis Enkivo beat you consistently
Starting point is 00:03:18 and expect to shut down trout. and Otani, you know, to make up for it. So just one of those games where it's first time out, the fastball certainly looked really good, I thought. And he had a couple really close misses that could have gone either way that probably would have changed some at-bats. But yeah, for the most part, I think this was just the Angels had a little bit better plan than Kirby did.
Starting point is 00:03:41 And they executed it a little bit better than Kirby executed his plan. And, you know, you give up a couple runs to the Angels, fine, whatever. But you can't leave that change up, you know, middle of the plate to show, hey, Otani. It's a good idea to throw him a change up. Otani struggles if you can get it off the plate, he'll chase that pitch. But that was just about thigh high in the middle of the plate. And Otani did what Otani does, and that's the game changer for Kirby's entire outing.
Starting point is 00:04:06 So a little bit of a bummer, but Kirby's a smart guy. He'll adjust to what the league is going to adjust to. And he'll get it figured out. I'm not overall worried. The velocity was there all night, so that's not a concern. and it just kind of, you know, where's the curb ball, where's the breaking ball? And the one change up that kind of got away from him. Yeah, that's the one downside of being, you know, as much in the zone as Kirby is,
Starting point is 00:04:34 is that if you're not absolutely pinpoint and can't overwhelm hitters, an aggressive game plan from your opponent can come back and bite you, especially when you throw hard because there's naturally going to be a lot of hard hit balls with that. If guys can make contact and square the ball up. So that's just kind of what we saw last night out of Kirby. It's nothing that I'm too concerned about. Like you said, we saw a couple of starts like this last year. And this is just going to be one of those isolated, you know, starts this year as well.
Starting point is 00:05:04 So not too concerned about that. We'll see how he rebounds in his next start against Cleveland in Cleveland. So last night you tweeted from the Lockdown Mariners account missed cookies. That was kind of the story for the. Mariners offense last night. They did score three runs, but they left a lot more out on the table, right, Colby? Yeah, you know, it's just a bummer. I didn't think that Mers was all that good last night.
Starting point is 00:05:35 He was, he was okay, but he left a lot of, you know, pitches in the middle of the plate, and the Mariners would constantly foul them off or pop them up. They missed a lot of really, you know, hitable pitches, and that didn't change when the Angels bullpen came in to Perra through a couple of just hanging sliders in the the middle of the plate and they just pop them up and they're doing it at the worst possible time they they haven't really had an issue getting guys on base per se um they've had created a lot of opportunities they just haven't gotten through they haven't come through it's not so much the the runners with scoring runners in scoring position batting average stat which is horribly misleading anyways
Starting point is 00:06:10 but it's when you get a guy like tie france on third base nobody out and you go strike out strikeout, you can't have that. I mean, especially when you're a team that's supposed to crush lefties and you have your two lefty crushes up there and you go strike out, strikeout in that situation, you can't have that. You have to find a way to put the ball in play. And you hit a hundred mile an hour line drive and it just goes right to somebody. So be it, you know, but you can't strike out in that situation, not back to back. You have to put the ball in play. And we've seen that throughout the throughout the early part of this game or this season is the Mariners have no trouble getting guys on second, getting guys on third with, you know, early.
Starting point is 00:06:45 in the inning, but they can't get them around. They can't score runs. And when you're struggling like the Mariners are right now to hit the long ball in particular, you really have to take advantage of these opportunities to get a run here, a run there, a run here while you wait for the two, three run home run to pop up. So, yeah, it just, it's unfortunate because, you know, the opportunity was certainly there. The Angels pitching, I didn't think was anything special last night. It was very mediocre.
Starting point is 00:07:12 And the Mariners' bats just, frankly, out mediocreed the Angels. So it's a bummer because you had an opportunity to beat datmurs. Datmurs is a pretty good pitcher. And you could have stole game one from the series and been in really good shape to win it. Now, you know, you have Suarez tonight. We'll see what happens there. And then you got Otani going on Wednesday. And that's going to be a tough game to win.
Starting point is 00:07:33 So we'll see. It feels like they really could use a victory tonight. But if they keep on missing these, you know, gimmeys, gimmee pitches and don't even hit them hard. Like, fine, sometimes you're going to miss. the hanging slider in the middle of the plate. Sometimes you're going to hit it really hard and it's just going to be a line shot right to the left fielder. They weren't doing that last night.
Starting point is 00:07:53 They were swinging through it. They were popping it up and they were fouling it back. And just every at bat seemed like there was two or three opportunities to do damage with those pitches and they just didn't. And, you know, I don't have the numbers right in front of me. But the amount of called strike threes that I've seen this team take right down the pipe over the last four games, it's been striking to me. So there's a lack of aggressiveness there as well towards the end of some of these at bats that I'm hoping to see change here within the next couple of days.
Starting point is 00:08:26 I'm talking fastballs. I'm not talking about good curveballs that just land in the zone after it looks like they're going to go five feet outside of the zone. Like not like that. I'm talking about 94, 93 mile per hour fastballs. They're just right down the middle of the plate that they're doing nothing with. So that needs to change as well. lastly matt festa came in yesterday threw in a couple of innings gave up three earn runs i know you said that he's kind of on your your short list now for guys that might be on the bubble of the roster
Starting point is 00:08:57 if this continues for him what's going on with matt festa it's just a lack of control and command right now he's the first time he went out there he really struggled to find the strike zone uh last night i think you walk three guys uh in his in his outing like festa is not a guy who can overpower you you. He's only 92, 93 with the fastball. The breaking stuff is pretty good. I mean, the slider is pretty good in general, but so far it hasn't been. And Fessa's not the type of guy that you just
Starting point is 00:09:23 like, oh, well, he'll figure it out. We'll get it going. No. Festa is a guy who, if he doesn't figure it out soon, you have to go look for a replacement. Now, it doesn't have to be today. But, you know, he has a couple more outings where he's working deep counts constantly and he's walking guys and he's leaving a slider in the middle of the plate.
Starting point is 00:09:41 It might be time to go get a, you know, with Justin Topa. It might be time to go get a SOSAido. It might be time to go get somebody who at least gives you a shot because right now Festa is, you know, he's kind of a walking white flag off of his last couple, off of his last two appearances. So it's tough to trust him right now and you want to. We were hoping he would take that next step for you. And so far it hasn't happened. It doesn't mean it won't. But yeah, I mean, I'm not going to sit around and, you know, watch Matt Festa struggle for five, six appearances in a row and the hopes that he'll figure it out. He hasn't earned that. So we'll see what happens in his next couple of outings. I'm assuming he'll get a couple days off here. But, you know, it's a bummer too because, you know, Penn Murphy came in and Penn Murphy's look great. So.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Yeah, you know, it's just the the natural roster turn of bullpins on a year-to-year basis. Like we said, it's so hard to predict what these guys are going to do, even the high-end guys, like an Andres Munoz, or Paul Seawald or someone like that. You just, you never know. So, you know, Festa is just kind of one of those guys where you thought maybe he could take another step and that just hasn't happened so far. It doesn't mean that it won't happen, but it just hasn't happened yet.

Let's talk a little bit about our fundraiser that we are running right now with Feeding America. Over the weekend, we didn't get really any donations, but yesterday you guys made up for it and then some i want to shout out a few people here that made some donations walther came through with twenty dollars monica came through with fifth uh 15 chad came through with fifty one dollars curran came through with 25 dollars uh we have an undisclosed uh donation from todd and then dillan moore
Starting point is 00:12:32 enjoyer came through with $200. Look at that. So, Colby, we're almost at 4K. That's right. 4K. Now, tell the folks what we could end up do, or well, what I could end up doing
Starting point is 00:12:51 if we get to $10,000. Yeah, guys, we get to $10,000 by the end of the month, which is asking a lot, but, you know, been blown away by the support so far. So we figured why not throw it out there and see what, see what happens. But we get to $10,000 by the end of the month, 100,000 meals raised. Ty over there is going to get a tattoo.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Yes, we're going to get to pick where and what? No. No, no. You sickos are not getting that control. Yeah, no. Right. But if you guys want to see Ty get a tattoo and yes, of course he's going to film it. And yes, of course, we'll put it up on YouTube and Twitter and all that stuff.
Starting point is 00:13:30 You guys want to see that happen. You know, consider donating. You can scan the QR code right there. There's a link to our fundraising page in the description of everything we post. There's, you know, tweets that I think I pinned on our Twitter. So, yeah, there's a lot of ways to help out. So you guys want to make a direct donation to feeding America. That'd be awesome.
Starting point is 00:13:53 You know, they can turn $1 into 10 meals. So when we raise $4,000, which looks pretty clear like we're going to get to, that's 40,000 meals. There are 34 million people in this country who suffer from food insecurity, 9 million or children. We can make that number a lot lower. So scan the code, click the link, go donate. Or if you can't donate and you want to help out Ty and I are donating 10 cents for every new subscriber we get this month. So just click the subscribe button on YouTube and you've donated a meal to. somebody who needs it. So ties really bad at pantomimiming. So so. Click it. Click it now. Do it. Yeah. Do it now. Or scan it. So
Starting point is 00:14:35 or scan the QR code. Yeah. Yeah. Again, thank you guys so much. The support so far has been, you know, really overwhelming and it's awesome to see, you know, you guys get behind this and let's finish out strong. You know, we've already blown past our, blown past our goal. But, you know, let's see how far we can push this thing. And I think we can push it pretty far. Also, real fast guys, you know, if you've already donated and all that stuff, thank you very much. But do keep in mind, we are giving away a Mike Cameron autograph card and a Cal Raleigh autograph card at this point. And all you have to do to enter those giveaways is just make sure you subscribe to this channel and leave a comment on any of the videos we post this month. And you have a shot to win one of those cards.
Starting point is 00:15:17 And by the way, I've heard rumor that somebody might be acquiring a Bryce Miller autograph card. And that might be available here pretty soon. see we'll see how that goes but again scan the QR code click the link just help out any way you can it would be very much appreciated i think that certain someone should just give me the brice miller autograph card i think the certain someone should drop six thousand dollars in donation so that he has to get a tattoo and then i'll give him the price miller card appealing appealing it's appealing option i'll think about it i'll get back to you okay all right so tomorrow we or tonight rather we have josea swaris against
Starting point is 00:15:56 Luis Castillo, who was fantastic on opening day. So what are your expectations for tonight, Colby? Oh, Mariners probably find a way to lose. It's over. Yeah. It's gin over. It's over. Let's totally ignore the fact that the Phillies are on for with a negative 25 run differential.
Starting point is 00:16:15 Let's ignore the fact that the Blue Jays are one and three. Let's ignore the fact that the Astros are also two and three right now. Yeah. I mean, they're fine, but the Mariners, it's over. not like the Astros lost at home to Detroit or something like that, okay? Yeah. Oh, well. Oh.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Okay, well, it's not like San Diego needed to walk off the A's and extra ratings. That was Cleveland. Cleveland played the A's. Whatever. Either way. Anyway, you want to slice it. Yeah, it's still really early, guys. He's making up games now to prove his point, obviously.
Starting point is 00:16:51 Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So, yeah, obviously you need Luis Castillo to be the stopper here. this is what you acquired him to do. And, you know, it's a good lineup. So we'll have to see how he handles Otani. The changeup could be the key with Otani. We know that that's a way you can get him out, pitches that break away from him,
Starting point is 00:17:08 typically, you know, give him issues. And we saw Castillo use the change up a lot, well, effectively in his first out. And I think he's going to need it tonight. Then we'll see what the slider looks like. It's a pretty right-handed heavy lineup still. So I think you also need to see the slider, particularly against trout and ward. So I,
Starting point is 00:17:29 you know, this is why you acquired Luis Castillo to stop losing streaks before they get out of hand. And, you know, with the matchup against Suarez, the number six starter for for Anaheim, it should benefit the Mariners,
Starting point is 00:17:43 but the Mariners have had the pitching advantage in the last four games. Well, at least three of the last four, at the very least, and they've lost all of them. So, yeah, you need Castillo to go out there and be great. And, really need is you need the offense to go out there and look like a competent offense for more than an inning in this game. So, you know, Suarez's got some stuff. He's certainly no pushover, but this is a guy that you have to be able to beat.
Starting point is 00:18:09 And, you know, maybe knowing that they only have to score, you know, three runs to have a really good shot to win this game. Maybe that takes some of the pressure off. I don't know. But at the end of the day, you just got to start hitting. Like, it's really that simple. But I think Demarest have a good shot to win this game. but, you know, it's baseball. You never know. Well, on the topic of offense, does this offense have any chance against Joey O'Tani tomorrow?
Starting point is 00:18:38 Yes. I've left him speechless, folks. Yes, and I'm going to tell you why. Okay. Tommy Lestella, three for four, two doubles home run. So. Okay. There you go.
Starting point is 00:18:53 They win one to nothing. Tommy Lestella solo shot. Yeah. The Tommy Lussela revenge game, by the way. Sure. Sure. Last time he was good, he was an angel. So there you go.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Yeah, that might be why this game's pretty important, like as important as any game in April can be, which is not very. But yeah, if you don't win tonight, you're staring, you know, six game losing streak dead in the face. And at which point, if you think the panic is bad now, who boy. Let me just remind folks, you know, we talk about like, like, I've seen a lot on Twitter about like other teams that. have started out poorly that have gone on to win the world series and all that that's great and all but let me remind you on the flip side of that the 2019 Mariners started out 13 and 2 how did that go for them so i think they won it works both ways hot starts cold starts they both you know they both tend to balance one another out i think they won 54 games after that 13 and 2 start so
Starting point is 00:19:56 hey man every team's gonna win 54 every team's gonna lose 55 It's what you do in the other 54 that matter. So just, you know, avoid disaster, don't care. And, you know, take your day off and be grateful for it. The Mariners are one of the only teams that hasn't had a day off yet. Not that I think that matters a lot, but it would help the bullpen a little bit. And then, you know, you kind of, you go to Chicago or you go to Cleveland and then you go to Chicago. You know, you can kind of start to turn the ship around.
Starting point is 00:20:22 But, yeah, tonight feels pretty important because it's hard to imagine this offense, you know, putting up multiple runs off of show Hey Otani. But we'll see. You never know. Again, baseball. Weird things happen in baseball. It's true. Like Jake Lamb coming back to Hunt You and Mike Zanino coming back to Honu. Well, I mean, Jesse Winkers knew how good Jake Lamb was.
Starting point is 00:20:43 Obviously. I thought it was particularly funny that the two driving forces of offense in the game last night, at least for the first half of the game, were Jake Lamb and Ehuyaheohenios Sores. But on the nose, they're baseball gods. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:59 This totally means that Jesse Winker's going like 10 for 12 against the Mariners in a couple weeks when the Brewers come to Seattle. That's just what's going to happen. We'll see, but he'll never be as good as Jake Lamb, so, you know. All right. Well, we got minor league rosters to talk about as Colby does whatever the hell he is the one. But first, a reminder. Stunt on these haters.

Ultimate baseball GM start your dynasty today. And you're listening to the locked on mariners podcast. Thank you again for making us your first listen. We've got minor league rosters. Now we know that. The rainiers have already been up and rolling for the last few days here. But we have low A rosters here for the Modesto Nuts.
Starting point is 00:23:06 We have high A rosters for the Everett Aqua Sox. We have double A roster for the Arkansas Travelers. And we have-Do-I-2. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Who would have guessed? Yeah. Who could have guessed?
Starting point is 00:23:21 So let's go over some of these notables here. Anyone stand out to you on the Modesto roster, Colby? Yeah. Only couple guys. This is not a very fun looking roster. Cole Young is obviously the big one. You know, he's number three, number four, number five, number six prospect, depending on who you ask. Also, Gabriel Gonzalez is out there.
Starting point is 00:23:47 And so those are two, you know, top seven, eight prospects. I can't remember where we had them. I think we both had them top six. So, yeah, you know, a couple really interesting guys there. Tatum Levens is kind of an interesting catcher. He's a guy that probably needs to finish the year, at least in Everett, to kind of stay on this, you know, deep sleeper type of list. You know, and when you kind of look at the pitching staff,
Starting point is 00:24:12 Tyler Guff is kind of interesting. He's kind of a dark horse guy who could pop here. Blake Townsend is an interesting lefty from Australia. Anthony Tomzac was, I think, a sixth round pick a few years ago. So there's a few guys on this team. that are going to be interesting to track. But for the most part, you know, not a ton, Josh Hood, Milcar Perez. They're kind of interesting, but they kind of need to have some good years here.
Starting point is 00:24:36 So I would say this is probably, I mentioned guff already. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Good listening skills. You know me. I tune out as soon as you start talking. Sorry, what? Yeah, good one.
Starting point is 00:24:50 Yeah, I would say this is probably the weakest roster of the bunch, the least exciting. is how I would claim this. But there are a few guys. And, you know, Cole Young is certainly a guy who has an opportunity to move pretty fast here. So it's going to be worth watching Young's performance in Modesto because he could come up pretty, he can come up to Ever pretty darn fast if he hits here. So there's maybe a handful of guys that are really worth watching on this roster. Is it Guff or is it GOO?
Starting point is 00:25:18 I think it's Guff. Like, Alex McGoo. Okay. It's Guff. Yeah, because I've never actually heard it pronounced. I've just kind of guessed. Also, you know, Michael Morales getting his second shot in this league. Hopefully it goes a little better than last year.
Starting point is 00:25:31 Yeah, hopefully and hopefully you can make his way up to High A in short order. Speaking of High A, we got the Everett roster here. Harry Ford highlights this list. We also have Tyler Locklear, Axel Sanchez, Hogan Windish, who we really like. Who else on this list stands out to you, Colby? Jonathan Clossey is pretty interesting. Walking Cabrera has got some helium in the Mariners Circle. They seem to think that he might be a guy probably a fourth outfielder or ceiling, but, you know, he's interesting.
Starting point is 00:26:04 Charlie Welsh is kind of a fun prospect, you know, pinch hitting extraordinaire at Arkansas, and he's been okay in the miners. They think maybe the bat might be real there. So he's kind of an interesting guy. Sam Carlson finally makes the jump to high A ball after spending the last couple of years in Modesto. So that's pretty fun. Logan Reinhard is a guy that I like as a deep sleeper. Juan Mercedes is another pretty interesting deep sleeper. Yeah, this is a pretty fun roster.
Starting point is 00:26:32 You know, again, I think you're starting infields. Probably going to be Locklear, Parker, Sanchez, Winddish with forward catching. That's pretty interesting. That's a fun little infield to go watch. And Clossey's going to run around. He's going to steal some bags. And hey, you know what? Alberto Rodriguez actually looked pretty good in some, you know,
Starting point is 00:26:51 limited spring training at bat so maybe he's figured something out this is a pretty interesting roster uh and there's even a few fun arms so i i think this is actually a pretty fun roster to go up and watch the minor league baseball if you're in the everett area i would go you know watch some of these games there's going to be there's quite a few future big leakers on this roster yeah to me this is the most intriguing roster because there are a lot of guys that really we don't we aren't super sure on just yet and i think we're going to get a lot of clarity out of a lot of these guys this year in in 2023. So that's one that I'm going to be keeping a close eye on.
Starting point is 00:27:24 Looking at the Arkansas Travelers roster. Bryce Miller. Holy pitching Batman. Yeah, yeah. Holy pitching indeed. We got Isaiah Campbell. We got Perlainer Borough.
Starting point is 00:27:33 We got Bryce Miller. We have Devin Sweet. We have 110. We have Brian Wu. The list goes on and on and on. Not puck it. Not much on the offensive end of things. But Patrick Frick is here.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Spencer Packard is here. I could have sworn that he was no longer with the organization. I, no, I think you were thinking of the same thing that I initially thought, because I had the same thought. Utah Jones? Yeah, I'm thinking of Utah Jones. Yeah, 80 grade name. There you go. Patrick Frick also a really good name.
Starting point is 00:28:06 Also from the same draft class, right? Yeah, I believe so. So, yeah, what do you think about this roster outside of the pitching? Probably the bat that stands out is Robert Perez Jr., Bobby bombs, making the jump to AA. Yeah. Listed as an outfielder that That seems optimistic. Yeah
Starting point is 00:28:23 That seems optimistic, but you know. Good way to put it. Yeah, we'll see. I love Bobby Baum, so yeah. But that is a big step for him. Yeah, you know, this roster is it's all about the pitching. Yeah. I mean, Baroa, Campbell, Haber, Hancock,
Starting point is 00:28:41 Koeck had a really nice year last year. Yeah. Travis Koon. Travis Koon, Bryce Miller. AJ Puckett was a guy who put up insane spin rates in his workout this winter. You know, Devin Sweet is a personal favorite of mine. I just, there's a lot, Brian Wu, Wanting. There's a lot of pitching on this roster.
Starting point is 00:28:59 Ben Anishko as well. There's some folks that really like him. There's some fun. Yeah, there's definitely some fun guys here. But you kind of look offensively. Logan Warmouth was a former first round pick. He's kind of interesting, but not really. This is a team that pretty much offensively, if you're going to watch this team,
Starting point is 00:29:19 you're going to watch Robert Perez Jr. And maybe Spencer Packard. Packard might have a shot to be a fourth outfield type. But you're going to watch pitching. If you're going to go watch an Arkansas Travelers game, they're going to have to try and win a lot of three, two games because the offense, not a lot to look at, but that pitching staff, good Lord. So lastly here, we got the Rainier's roster.
Starting point is 00:29:40 Like I said, they've already been up and running here for the last few days. some interesting Yeah this this one is is fun Because there's actually You know prospects prospects I you know You'll recognize on here It's a good mix of veterans In like 4A types
Starting point is 00:29:58 But also some really interesting prospects This is a fun roster Yeah so Zach Deloch Top prospect Zach to Loach Obviously on this On this on this roster Yeah Taylor Dallard made his first start
Starting point is 00:30:11 The other day Only through a couple of innings But he's the most notable piece on that Rainier's rotation that right now is featuring guys like East McGee Tommy Malone, Darren McCacken as well. We got Jacob Nottingham is back with the club and he is on this Rainier's roster. Brian O'Keefe, who I got a chance to interview yesterday. That interview is coming out tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:30:36 That's going to be our episode for tomorrow. But Colby, the guy that we wanted to talk about here is Nick Solac. because the Mariners acquired Solac via trade from the Reds the other day for cash considerations. Hold up. The guy that we wanted to talk about? Yes.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Which one of us wanted to do an emergency pod and which one of us said no? I was literally, that was my last day in New Mexico. Which one of us wanted to talk? Which one of us wanted to talk? Which one of us wanted to talk about this yesterday and who said no?
Starting point is 00:31:12 Wait, yesterday. Yesterday was mailbag. Yesterday was just mailbag. So no one asks about... This takes precedent. No one asked about Nick Solek, which means that you're the one that cares about Nick Solek. I see, so you didn't want to talk about him. You said you didn't care.
Starting point is 00:31:27 So, all right, well, fine. When Nick Solek wins a game for the Mariners this year, you can thank me later. That's all I'm saying. All right. Nick Seleck, just do your piece here. Talk about Nick Seleck. He's fast. All right.
Starting point is 00:31:39 He's got some hit cool. Yeah. He's got a little pop. He's got a little versatility. I mean, in the sense that he can stand at like six different places. So he should probably DH though. No, no. He's fine in a corner outfield spot.
Starting point is 00:31:55 He can fake it at second. Yeah, yeah. Honestly, I don't know, man. It's weird to me that you love Sam Haggurdy when he's basically Nick Solac. Same guy, but oh, yeah, no, Lord forbid we talk about Nick Solac. He is. He is. And by the way, you know what?
Starting point is 00:32:12 he has a much bigger track record of hitting the big leagues and Sam Haggart he does fact fact Nick Solack is Nick Solac is better than Tommy the Stella right now He's better he's a better bad to hit the why is he at the major league level than cold Because Jerry made a mistake. I don't know what to tell you Wow Jerry's not perfect wow criticizing Jerry to Poto on this podcast how dare you He did get this guy for free so good on Jerry Nick Solac is he is interesting though you know we've seen him a little bit in Texas
Starting point is 00:32:42 he's definitely got speed he's 90th percentile and in sprint speed and all that stuff not a great base stealer but a pretty good base runner he does have some pop uh he does have some hit tool ability he goes line to line um pretty well so needs a basically he doesn't strike out all that much at any level but he doesn't walk a ton either he's kind of a guy who needs to hit 250 to put up you know league average on base uh and if he's that's what he's going to be then he has to start hitting for a little more power. He either needs to walk a little more, or he needs to hit the ball over the fence a little more to be more of a, you know, a 26 or, you know, a bench guy, basically. But I think it's there, you know, he's an interesting former, you know, fringe top 100 prospect. He's the type of guy that
Starting point is 00:33:27 Jerry and his crew love to take shots on. So I think Solex pretty interesting. And I didn't, did you know what to say is there Hernandez on that roster? I don't know. He was not on there. He wasn't that's interesting. The report say he has signed, but he hasn't been assigned to AAA. So we'll see what happens there. But I mean, they did have Pat, was it Balica? Volica. Yeah. Yeah. Like they did have him on there and he just signed yesterday. So maybe Hernandez isn't happening. I don't know. But yeah, it is interesting. The Mariners have gone out and they've gotten a couple of versatile defenders who can play second base and the outfield. Gee, I don't know. That kind of sounds like Dylan Moore's role.
Starting point is 00:34:06 but we'll see they still say Dillmore's doing great but Dillamore also didn't play at all in the spring training so they still say he's going to be up in like they want him to be up in like 10 days yeah no no he should get an extensive rehab stents
Starting point is 00:34:22 he should yeah but no in all seriousness the AAA roster is pretty fun Moran is an Moran's probably a major league quality guy Solax is a major league quality guy even if they are bench guys they're still you know if either of those guys are on your bench right now. You're not like angry
Starting point is 00:34:38 about it. Right. You're like, okay, whatever. Yeah, no, it's just they're, they're interesting shots for Jerry and Justin to take here. Sure. I like to sell out to anything. You know, again, it's, it's just for cash. And that's a guy that, you know, I think we had in one of our offseason plans, maybe
Starting point is 00:34:54 two years ago. Because after 2020. Yeah. So, it might have been 2019. Yeah. So that's you know, someone that we've kind of had our eye on for a little while here. Same what stays are same what say Yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:35:08 Take all the credit Don't break your arm pat on your back I was just trying to co-op Jake Bowers Then he was trying to co-op Jake Lam And now he's trying to co-op Nick Zolak And then the guy that actually was my guy Tayas is letting me down Good job
Starting point is 00:35:22 It's really letting me down right now Honestly they should DFA TAO and bring up So lac Right it's already over Like we're done It's over It's tough Yeah it's Tayo over So you might as well start rebuilding right now
Starting point is 00:35:33 Yeah it's Tay over It's Huli over it's uh yeah no that's it's a pretty fun it's a pretty fun triple a roster yeah yeah it's um yeah i think really all these rosters are pretty fun or at least they have uh some some merits um medesto i wouldn't strain myself to go to a modesto nuts game this year yeah the medesto one is there but cole young is on that roster gabby gonzals there's some dudes but it's pretty much those too.
