Logan Gilbert was good. Big Dumper is finally on the board, and it doesn't matter because the rest of this offense sucked out loud.
We unfortunately will talk about it.
This is the Mariners Postcast.
Your instant game reaction for the Seattle Mariners.
Part of the Locked-on podcast network, your team every day.
Welcome to the Mariners Postcast.
My name is Chris Crawford.
Anders Hurst is taking care of business at home.
He has to watch the bad hockey team.
I get to watch the bad right now baseball team.
The Mariners lose two to one in the first of three games against the Texas Rangers.
This is the locked on postcast.
We go live after every single Seattle Mariner game to talk about the good.
I'm sure they'll be good at some point.
The bad.
Oh, there's plenty of bad and the ugly.
Boy, oh boy.
this is a frustrating loss and they had their chances, but not really,
because they didn't create enough of them, I guess.
But it's another one run loss.
It's another anemic offensive performance,
despite one of the best at bats that I have ever seen from a Seattle Mariner.
We really appreciate everyone who's joining us live on YouTube.
Please hit like and subscribe.
That really helps us.
And we appreciate everyone who is listening to this in podcast form.
We always start with the start.
And let's just be honest, the first two starts from Logan Gilbert were not his best,
nowhere close to it, in fact, in particular that second start of the year.
I thought there was more good than bad in the first start.
But the second start was pretty shanky outside of the first inning.
And we'll talk about how the second run scores in a second.
I thought Logan Gilbert was really good today.
He commanded his secondary pitches much better than he did in the previous few starts.
He didn't have elite swing and miss stuff, but he commanded it really well.
I thought his stuff was really good today.
And his command was much better even.
That's what I actually meant to say was that his command was really good.
The stuff wasn't the best, but I loved how he harnessed it.
It's nice to see him get six innings.
It's been a while since we've seen Logan Gilbert go six innings.
We still haven't seen him go seven since that first start of 2025.
but I thought he was really good today.
And you know what?
The bullpen was really good today, too,
in particular, Jose Ferre.
And if I was going to give an unsung hero for this game,
it would probably be Jose Ferre.
Ooh, that changeup looked good.
And you see why the Mariners were so enamored with this guy,
why they were willing to move a top 100 prospect for him,
because he should be able to miss more bats than he has.
He hasn't.
and he hasn't exactly been a strikeout artist prior to today,
but he gets a couple of strikeouts.
Cooper Criswell does his job as well.
I still think the decision to bring Crizzwell in to one-run games in the late
innings is, boy, you want to talk about playing with fire.
I think it's a mistake in process, excuse me,
but the results have been okay for Crieswell.
And Creswell offers some versatility because of the ability to go multiple innings.
There's very little you can say about that.
this pitching staff. That is negative. Excuse me. There's a lot you can say about this defense,
and in particular, Randy, a Roserina. I'm not saying that ball has to be caught. It sure as heck would
be nice to have a left fielder who can catch that ball. And for those who missed it, a line drive
over a Rose Arena's head shortly after a Rose Arena also makes a diving catch attempt that just
comes nowhere close and it rolls by him. He's a bad defensive player.
this is a bad defensive team and randy rosarina looks awful and a few of you are bringing up in the comments
by the way a few people brought up that i didn't interact with comments last time just for those
listening on spotify or however you're getting the podcast and those watching because i have
so much stuff to do solo i really apologize if i don't interact um it's it's a bit of a work in progress
for me i have never done i did some last year but for the most part i there's buttons i have to hit
There's stuff I have to look at for timing.
It's just a little more difficult.
I love you all, and I really appreciate you guys coming out,
but I'm not ignoring you.
This is not pre-recorded, obviously.
But yeah, sorry about that.
Radio Rosarina should be the DH.
Randy or Rosarina should absolutely be the designated hitter.
Unfortunately, there's a few guys who should be designated hitters right now,
and it costs you the game in a way.
I won't say it completely costs you the game today
because you scored one flipping run and I believe only had one hit or excuse me two hits one hit after gosh we'll talk about in a sec i really think you got to upgrade left field defense
i don't think they will but i think it's something that you absolutely have to look at all right we'll talk about randy or rosarine is at bats
we'll talk about this offense stinking and we'll talk about a positive and that is that big dumper homer which was just a
spectacular at bat. But first, let's give some love to the advertisers. It's tax time, but for a lot of us,
the old way of doing taxes is a lot trying to book an appointment that's not the most convenient,
sitting in a waiting room with a stack of papers, emailing back and forth, and wondering if they
really get your situation. But this year, you are getting a major upgrade. Intuit TurboTax
now has in-person locations nationwide. You can meet face-to-face with a real tax expert, and your

Today's episode is also brought to you by game time.
And boy, is it ever game time whether or not you want it to be or not based on how
these Mariners games have gone?
Maybe not.
But the MLB season is back and you can feel it.
Fresh starts, big expectations and that first crack of the bat, whether it's a breakout
rookie or a division race that goes down to the wire.
There's nothing like being in the ballpark for it.
The problem?
Getting tickets and feel like a grind.
There's long queues.
There's surprise fees.
Prices jumping at checkout.
That's where game time comes in.
The Game Time app gives fans the advantage with constant innovation.
It's how you unlock amazing tickets and experiences in just a few taps.
It's simple to use.
The game time guarantee means you get 100% authentic tickets, delivered on time at the best price.
And here's the best part.
Fees are included in the price you see.
What you see is what you pay, period.
My biggest thing, especially if I'm going to a park I've never been to before,
is the ability to see what my seat is going to look like. You find these seats on other parks or other
websites and you're like, where am I going to be sitting? What is the experience going to look like?
I can see it there and I also know what the price is going to be. That's why Game Time is a no-brainer.

Anders Hurst watching the Cracken season just come to a screeching halt. And if the Mariners keep hitting
like this, their season's going to come to a screeching halt too. And I'm not predicting that
it will. But all we can do is judge the results, right? This is the, this is the react to the games.
Ty and Colby get to take care of the long picture stuff and tell you why everything's going to be
fine. I'm going to tell you why this offense stinks. It's pretty simple. It's because right now it stinks.
Like, not struggling, not picking things up. stinks. They are a horrific offensive baseball team today.
And we can start with the positive big dumper. But he's not. He's not on a 30 homer pace because Joe Adele was being a jerk and robbed him of one.
but I thought Big Dumber took some really good at bats.
Nope, that's not the show, Josh.
I apologize.
The stream froze.
It's back.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
It should be back anyway now.
That was really nice to see.
It was great to see even the fly out to center field.
He was phenomenal.
I mean, that was a phenomenal at bat.
Got a pitch to hit.
He drove it.
Just didn't get quite enough.
Right now, Mr. Crawford does have Wi-Fi that's performing like Cal on the
2006 first 10 games. But this was really encouraging. He draws the walk. He hits the homer.
And he drove a baseball after a nice at bat too. I was really encouraged with what Cal did.
The ninth inning, not so much. Julio was awful today. Josh Naylor was awful today.
Holy crap, man. I, it just.
I have Stockholm syndrome.
I have PTSD from watching this offense struggle so much for most of my adult life.
And there's just been too many of these games in my lifetime.
There used to be hair here.
I used to have hair.
It was actually pretty good.
And then I watched the Seattle Mariners.
And now I look like Friar Tuck.
Oh, my gosh.
It's just been awful to watch.
and it's been the process and the results.
There's been some terrible at bats.
There have been some good ones.
I think we just talked about Cal,
I think has looked much more comfortable at the plate
over the last few, even if the results have been shaky.
And today, the results I can't really complain about.
Homer to walk is a good baseball game.
Rough, rough, rough, rough.
A lot of people talking about Rob Reff Snyder.
Here's what I'll say.
Number one, it's April 6th.
Number two, I thought his bat today was good.
He works a three ball count.
He gets a pitch to hit and he doesn't hit it.
And I get in particular the PTSD with the Solanos and stuff like that.
I think we have to be more patient here, guys.
I do think you have to be more patient with Raff Snyder.
No, he can't hit right-handed pitching.
No, he's not a good defensive player.
There's too much of a sample size to be throwing this guy
and the DFA pile based on what's happened so far.
But he's looked awful for the most part.
But tonight was a good at bat.
The result was just bad.
And I've seen some process okay from,
Ref Snyder had a two-walk game the other day.
We're prisoners of a moment and, you know,
hosting a daily show like this.
It's really easy to be a prisoner of the moment.
But I'm more encouraged based on what I've seen from Ref Snyder over his career
than anything that's happened this year.
And the sample's too small.
the sample's too small.
My unsung villain, by the way, is pretty easily Dan Wilson
with what happened with the Victor Robles J.P. Crawford thing.
You played chicken and you lost.
And again, for those who missed it,
who are just looking at this for a straight recap,
Dan plays chicken with a left-hander on the mound.
He pinch hits Victor Robles.
Robles takes his time to get to the plate.
The umpire calls a strike for a
time issue.
And with a strike,
Texas says, okay,
now that Robles is up,
we are going to our right-hander,
and J.P. Crawford has to hit
with a strike count. And you lose
what, if that would have gone into extra
your backup outfielder. And I
just
feel like Dan Wilson
isn't making the progress that I want to see.
I know the endgame stuff.
I know the endgame stuff isn't good enough.
I don't know how good he is in the clubhouse.
I'm guessing it's great.
I'm guessing it's fantastic.
But I can only judge what I see and what I see as a manager that's in over his head.
Yeah, as many of you were pointing out,
it was almost like Dan Wilson was taking a nap today.
And here's what I'll final say before we leave.
Are these results predictive of the upcoming season?
I don't think so.
That doesn't mean you don't have every right.
to be irritated, to be really frustrating.
And hey, this stream's back.
Please hit like.
Please hit subscribe.
Pretend I said something great while this stream was frozen.
We will be back tomorrow.
It will be just me again.
Hopefully the internet works.
I love you.
But boy, this baseball team is just bad right now.
