This is the Mariners Postcast.
Your instant game reaction for the Seattle Mariners.
Part of the locked on podcast network, your team every day.
Anders, you sure you want to come back?
You sure you can handle this?
Because to quote my good friend, Beyonce, I don't think I can handle this.
I do not think I am ready for this jelly.
Mariners went 7 to 6 and 12 innings.
It was 12 innings, right?
They take the first game of a three-game set against the Texas Rangers.
Hello, everybody.
My name is Chris Crawford.
Usually I'm joined by Anders Hurst.
He's taking some much-deserved time off.
So it's just me solo.
We'll be back as the tandem tomorrow.
Oh, boy.
What a...
This is going to be hard to keep this a short video.
Oh, because this was a video coming up on the show.
And this is the Mariners Postcast, by the way.
We go live after every single Seattle.
Mariner game. Whether we want to or not, we go live after every single Seattle Mariner game.
Ty and Colby handling the day-to-day stuff and doing an excellent job. So please make sure you've hit
like. Please make sure you've hit subscribe. We really do appreciate the support. Coming up on today's
Mariner's postcast, we'll talk about a decent start from Logan Gilbert. Some really not great
hitting with runners in scoring position, but kind of a weird day.
offensively. I can't call it a bad day. I can't call it a good day. I guess I can call it a good
day because they win, but I can't call it a great day. And we'll go over our unsung hero. A lot of
you already have thoughts. Leave who your unsung hero is in the comments. If you're watching
this afterwards, leave it afterwards. That's totally fine with me. Let's start with Logan Gilbert,
okay? Because for the first four and first five innings, this looked like it was going to be
Walter. It looked like it was going to be a Walter start. And he gets seven strikeouts.
He only gives up four runs. Boy, oh boy, did he really struggle in the sixth inning?
I will say this. There was a play that scored two that you really want your shortstop to make.
And look, J.P. Crawford is having a fantastic offensive season. He's also rated one of the worst
defensive short stops in baseball by a lot of metrics. And, and, and,
Anders and I disagree on this.
I think where I come from is different from where Anders is.
I think Anders may be looking at defense, and I hate to be smirsched a guy.
He's much smarter than me or whatever.
Defense is not just about making the plays in front of you.
Defense is about taking away outs.
J.P. Crawford doesn't take away outs.
It should have been a two-run inning.
At the most, it should have been a three-run inning because he makes that play.
But Gilbert did fall apart a little bit in that sixth inning.
and I've seen flashes of brilliance from Gilbert.
You know, that first start he comes back.
He has the 10 strikeouts.
He was great.
These next two have just been okay.
I expect more from Logan Gilbert.
I expect more.
I'm not saying that Logan Gilbert's in trouble.
I'm not saying that Logan Gilbert still isn't one of the 15 or so best starting pitchers in baseball.
I just, you know, it's easy to forget about Logan Gilbert, too,
because this start happened.
He left the game like,
three hours ago. But we always start with the starter or starter with the start. No,
it's start with the starter. He was okay. He was okay. Let's talk about this bullpen because I want to
spend the second half talking about this offense. Nice job by Carlos Vargas. Gabe Spire was okay.
He gives up that tying run. I thought Casey League of Mina was awesome. And maybe Casey League
of Mina is my unsung hero. I know a lot of you want to go with a guy. I don't think
he's unsung. I don't think he's unsung at all. But Legamina excellent, Matt Brash, excellent.
So let's talk about Andres Munoz because he blows his fifth save of the year. That's too
money. You know, you see two walks, one of those intentional. I'm almost just, yeah, exactly.
There are exactly. There was an intentional walk there. That's like I'm talking to myself,
which I am. I have a hard time thinking anything negative about Munoz.
like he gives up a couple of fly balls that the runners advance on, right?
And I have one criticism from Julio Rodriguez for this game.
Julio Rodriguez needs to cut that baseball off and make that throw, right?
He needs to cut that baseball off and make that throw at home plate.
Because Luke Rayleigh's not a good thrower right now.
He has usually okay arm strength, but I think the oblique injury is really affecting his ability
to get the ball with any velocity.
And that it was obvious.
That throws flat-footed and it had no chance to get there.
Julio Rodriguez needs to just, I joked that he needs to do the Ryu spin kick and get
Rayleigh out of the way and make that play because Julio's arms fantastic.
That's my only issue here.
But let's talk about Eduardo Bizarro.
It's not always pretty.
It's not always going to wow you with the stuff.
it's more effective the Hedukin.
Yeah, absolutely the Hadoon as Deng Bud brings up.
Like, Julio's arm is so strong and Luke Raley's is not right now.
So put the guy in the best position to make that play.
But back to Bizarro, what a terrific job from him over his two winnings.
I know you see three walks.
That's so misleading.
That's so misleading.
One intentional, of course, but he was careful, but effective.
effectively careful with his stuff.
I've been so impressed with Bizarro since the start of June.
I'm not saying he's their next high leverage guy.
I'm just saying that, like, I'm relying on him more and more.
I think he did an excellent job.
I thought he did an excellent job.
As Anna here says, thank you, Brashton Bizarro.
Yeah, that's a great point.
I think both of those guys were absolutely outstanding.
17 appearances now for Matt Brash without allowing a run.
So the pitching wasn't superb, I would say, but I think definitely good enough.
A jolly badger breaks up a great point here.
Cal was calling such a good plan for Bizarro, too.
Totally agree.
Big Dumber is so good at this.
So good at this.
We're going to talk about Big Dumber offensively as well.
And hello, Anna.
It's very nice to see you.
Thank you so much for coming out.
We're going to talk about that offense.
Kind of an inconsistent day.
I certainly wouldn't call it a bad day, but we'll take a quick commercial break before we get into all that.
A word from the good folks of game time.
Have you ever decided at the very last minute to head to a ballgame with friends or family?
Maybe it's game day and suddenly you realize you want to be in the stance.
That's exactly where game time comes in.
It's the easiest way to grab last minute tickets without the stress.
With the money you save on tickets, you can splurge on food, drinks,
merch or even invite a bigger group to come with you. Game time makes it possible. Game time makes
buying tickets fast and simple. The prices on the app actually drop the closer you get to first
pitch. They've got incredible last minute deals, clear seat views, and a lowest price guarantee that
takes the worry out of buying. To me, that's the big thing is that last minute deal. How many times
have you thought, hey, I'd really like to go to this game, but I don't know if I'm going to have the time.
I don't know if I have to do a work project or I don't know if my kid's feeling.
well enough to go to the game or just, I don't know if I have friends.
That's the big one for me.
50-50.
But GameTime makes it nice and easy to make sure that you can get to that game.
So take the guesswork out of buying tickets with GameTime,
download the GameTime app,
create an account, and use code locked on MLB for $20 off your first purchase.

last minute tickets, lowest prices guaranteed.
All right, let's talk about this offense.
Weird day.
Just a weird day.
I don't even know where to start
because it's the most disappointed I think I've ever been
in a game where they have 16 hits.
16 hits, you drop five walks,
but you only score the seven runs.
that feels weird to say only seven and beggars can't be choosers. I know with this offense,
especially beggars can't be choosers. I wanted more. I thought the top of the lineup
offensively was really good today. Crawford with the three hits, Julio gets on four times,
and I think was robbed of a homer? You guys have to tell me, was Evan Carter when he made that catch
because I kind of sought from a weird angle. I was taking my dogs out to go potty.
and I saw I make the catch, but I couldn't tell if it was outstretched.
Either way, it was a terrific play on a hard hit ball.
But it's nice to see the double.
It's nice to see four.
Maxwell, thank you so much.
It was a robbed home run.
So Evan Carter, what the heck, man?
I own so many of your rookie cards.
Why would you do that to me?
Why would you do that to me to take something away from my sweet, sweet, sweet
Julio?
But the top of the lineup was great.
J.B. Crawford gets on three times.
Julio gets on four times, big dumper gets on four times, two intentional walks in the early part of this game.
That shows you how much pitters, or pitchers, excuse me, I think hitters fear them too.
But how much pitchers fear this dude right now?
Like, you are not going to let this guy beat you.
You are not.
And unfortunately, the guys afterwards didn't do the job.
Now, Jorge Polanco does drive in a couple of runs, and he gets on three times two.
he hits into a massive double play after the second, excuse me,
intentional walk to Big Dumper.
He struggled.
Randy or Rosarina really struggled today.
It was just not his day at the plate at all.
Luke Rayleigh gets a couple hits,
but he doesn't come through in a big situation.
We got to quickly talk about Dylan Moore because a few of you have brought it out,
as crazy points out here,
and you're not crazy.
D. Moore isn't a serious ball player.
Putting him on is a free out.
Now, is that true all the time?
I didn't need to exit out of that.
Sorry about that.
Is that true all the time?
No, of course not.
It's not, he's been an effective offensive player.
Is it true right now?
You bet your sweet bippy it is because he is one for 30 in the month of June and he's
struck out 17 times.
So it's not bad bad bad luck.
You know, it's him not being even remotely effective.
And I really didn't like the decision there for Dan Wilson to pinch it for him.
As somebody else brought up to Cole Young was driving the baseball today.
And then Donovan Salado pitch hits for him.
I don't have an issue with it per se.
I would like to see Cole Young played less as a platoon player.
I want to see how he can do against those lefties.
And look, Solano has a huge hit.
today too. He drives in a run that
looked like it was going to be the game
winner. Had a picture already
with Donnie Barrels on it. Instead, I go with
Master of the Maestro,
who we'll talk about in just one sec.
But Dylan Moore's a problem right now.
Just going through the offense, too. Ben Williamson
had a nice day before he gets pitch
hit for you know who.
Solano with that big RBI.
But like you just saw
so many failed attempts with runners in scoring
position. Four for
23 today. Young was one for three, rally O for two, which feels misleading, a Rosarina
O for three, that feels right, and Polanco one for four. You had a chance to have like a 12 to 13
run game today with just a modicum of success against with runners in scoring position. By the way,
RISB business is very funny. You guys have to admit that. All right. Let's talk about Miles
Mastroboni because if I don't talk about it,
now I may forget what an unbelievable game from him today off the bench.
The thing that's going to get lost is that catch that he makes down that line because
I thought that was going to fall in.
And I was a little bit upset that I didn't have Ben Williamson in defense at that situation.
And that's not an insult to Mastroboni.
It's just Ben Williamson has more range.
He is a faster runner and he's a better defensive player.
most Ben Williamson's a better defensive third baseman than a lot of people but like that play
was unbelievable because how frustrating of a loss is this I would be screaming forever if they lose
this game because they just blew so many golden opportunities so many golden opportunities
but Mastrobony doesn't let that happen and then in the bottom of the 12th he lashes that
single. And I want to give credit to Randy a Rosarina there too because he got an awesome jump.
That ball was hit hard. And that play was really close at the play. If a better tag, I think he gets
him there. But it didn't. And Bastroponi deserves all the credit in the world. The only reason he's not
my unsung hero today is because how could he be the unsung hero? He's just the hero. He's just
flat half the hero. You know, there's nothing unsung really about it. I think my unsung.
sung hero today is going to be Legamina because the job he did coming in into that tie game
facing some quality Texas hitters, not the best, but you know, quality Texas hitters for him
to be, uh, and, uh, somebody says here that Randy was 100% out. I don't, I don't know.
I don't know. I don't think he was. He probably should have been, but I don't think he got the tag down
in time. I don't think he got the tag down in time.
But great job by Master Boni.
But Legamina is my unsung hero because it's pretty easy to,
um, it's pretty easy to forget how good he was and how he kept the team in the game
for as long as he did.
I was really impressed with Legamina.
And I got to be honest, I've been impressed with Legamina for the overwhelming
majority of the year.
There have been a couple clinkers, as we like to call him.
But for the most part, that was really impressive.
And he's done a very nice.
The one thing the Mariners can do is they can find arms like this in the bullpen as well as
anybody. Having said that, please go get another lefties. Please go get another lefty for this bullpen.
And please hit like, please hit subscribe. Really appreciate all of the views today. You know,
I appreciate any views, but like a lot of you are out here. I know I say like too much. I know I say
really too much. I know I say look too much. And yet you guys still keep coming out here.
what a big win.
What a big win.
And now you got a chance to have a special road trip, right?
You have a chance to have a seven and three trip.
You got to win the next two to get there.
But you have a chance for it now.
And at the very worst now, you should be looking at six and four.
If you go five and five, it's disappointing,
especially with how well you played against the Cubs.
But you got that chance now.
You got that chance.
And we love you too, Sushi, dude.
I really appreciate everybody who came out.
It's been a blast.
I've had so much fun doing this.
But please hit like, please hit subscribe.
Tell me who your Unsung Hero was in that comment section,
because we love to read your comments,
and I'll do my best to check all of them out because that's how much I love you.
We'll see you soon.
Back tomorrow with my good buddy Anders.
Hoo, what a win.
