This is the Mariners Postcast.
Your instant game reaction for the Seattle Mariners.
Part of the Locked-on Podcast Network, your team every day.
Cole Young, Dylan Moore, Dom Canzone.
Those are the names that got the Mariners to dump tonight.
Oh, and Edward Bizarro, by the one.
So many moments to talk about in this game.
The Mariners beat the Astros by a score of seven to six in 11 innings.
They win the series.
They already have clinched the series wins.
So you go with a chance tomorrow for the sweep to get within two of the division.
It's wide open, folks.
It is wide open.
This is exactly what we were hoping for coming out of the All-Star break.
Maybe not exactly as we drew it up in terms of a baseball.
game, but we will take those dubs, ladies and gentlemen.
This is Anderson Hurst.
To my left is Christopher Crawford.
We are your locked-on Mariner's postcast.
We go live right after every single Mariner's baseball game.
And this is a fun one.
We're going to talk about just so many moments in this game.
I don't even know.
We're probably not going to hit all of them, honestly, because I've already forgotten
about some of them.
I'm going to be completely honest right now.
We'll start with the start as we always do.
will do our unsung hero as we always do
but Chris Crawford your initial thoughts
after this huge win. What the hell
just happened? Like
I'm so
like there were
so many great things you saw
in this game, so many less
than desirable things
in this game. There were some
questionable decisions. There were
some questionable decisions from umpires
both calling strikes and with
warnings and
I don't know
what I just watched. I joked on Blue Sky that I was just going to go play
snood. Like, I don't know what else to do. It's too overwhelming. I can just
shoot my little guy up and try to get four. And all I'll say is this. Well,
I have a lot to say. But here's what I'll say to as succinctly as possible. You had to
win this game. Yeah. A loss here would have been devastating. A devastating loss. And to come
that on top. Now that's a devastating loss for the Astros. That is a horrible lot for the Houston
Astros. And now you got a chance to do something special. But at the very least,
even with Logan Evans on the mound, you have guaranteed yourself a series win against the Houston
Astros to start the second half. And let's just real quick, think about how we were feeling
last year at the start of the first second half, right? Because the Mariners had blown most of
that lead and they open with the Astros again, but it doesn't go nearly as well as this.
Doesn't go nearly as well.
Here's hoping this is the reverse of that.
This is an excellent start to the second half.
Yeah, completely agree.
I was about ready if we were to lose this game to go and just bash management for starting
Logan Evans in this game.
Let's start with the start.
Yeah.
Logan Evans, good for a few innings, not so good for a couple more.
Doesn't get a ton of help from his bullpen either.
No.
But what did you see from him today?
Just so obviously your fifth starter at this point.
It's pretty obvious.
And the umpiring did Logan Evans a lot of favor in this one.
There were some strike calls there that somebody joked with me and said,
maybe Logan Evans wants to give him the glasses he's wearing.
And I was like, no, he doesn't.
He's perfectly fine with what's going on better.
It's the opposite.
I mean, there was so much hard contact, so much hard contact that either went right into
Julio's glove or in a Rose Arena's glove sometimes.
It was not good.
But here's what I want to say.
I have to give Dan Wilson a ton of credit for taking Evans out when he did.
Yeah, I was going to mention that.
It's a 4-1 game.
You have a couple of runners on.
You don't try to manage for him to get a W.
You have to pull the dude.
Have to.
Now, the pitching afterwards wasn't great.
But I think you saw there, and it's worth pointing out that Bryce Miller reportedly
looked really good in his live bullpen session today.
That's great to hear.
Touch 97 miles per hour was throwing his secondary pitches, which is huge for a bullpen
session.
A lot of times they just say fastball, and if you have a change or split, you can throw that.
but the fact he was used in his arsenal was massive,
it's still a position that I think you got to look at upgrading.
Because if you, the eye test for Logan Evans on top of pretty mediocre numbers,
four innings of two run baseball, three walks, five strikeouts.
And those five strikeouts, I think, are misleading, right?
Because it wasn't swing and myths, right?
No.
It was a case where he got some fortunate calls.
And I'm not a Logan Evans hater or anything like that.
I'm just a realist that realizes a team that should,
be competing for a at least an aOS championship and after that hopefully beyond that it probably
is an ideal to go with logan evans as your fifth starter in that case yeah and i mean it's just
it's a tough scenario to be in because you can look at it two ways you can look at it one
how many fifth starters around major league baseball are giving you significantly more than logan
Evans is right now.
I'm not, man.
I wish Chris is my dad.
Yeah, he kind of is at this point for me because I just spend so much time with him.
So it's just, what a way to call me old.
Goodness gracious.
Come on.
Come on.
Yesterday, by the way, somebody in the comments said I look like George Carl, and
that's why I'm wearing a hat today.
All to respect to George, who was, you know, one of the greatest coaches in Seattle history.
I'm not putting up with, oh, you look.
look like George Carl.
Oh, that's so great.
Well, your actual son, J.P. Crawford, had a decent day today,
offensively.
And it made a couple good defensive plays as well.
It's just overall.
But anyways, back to Logan Evans.
Yeah, I just, if you think about it one way, a foot starter,
you're not expecting a ton from that position anyway.
But the way the Mariners are built, the way this roster is built.
We've talked about it all year long.
they need every time a starter goes on the mound, they need to give him a chance to win.
And far too often, Logan Evans or sometimes Emerson Hancock and even Bryce Miller when he's
been in there, obviously not healthy, they haven't given you a chance to win.
You need a chance to win at every single time a starter goes out on the mound because
this offense is so inconsistent, right?
So that's something where I think getting that fifth starter is going to be really, really,
really important. If Bryce Miller comes back, healthy, good to go, looks like the 2024 version of
Bryce Miller, then that's a whole different story. I'll be so down for that. But Logan Evans today
showed you his limitations. Let me just put it that way. That's a really good way of putting it.
And by the way, sorry for everybody you had to watch me. I don't know, I didn't know where the charger
to my laptop went. It's one of those things I probably should have figured out before we started
recording, but I had to do some maneuvering. I think that's a really good way to put it, the limitations,
right ceiling and floor we talk about ceiling and floor all the time especially the draft your ceiling
is with logan evans is five or six innings of two run baseball whereas the floor i mean that could
have been disastrous tonight if wilson doesn't get the early plug right like that's the biggest
issue is there's just not quite enough ceiling and the mariners aren't a good enough team there are
some baseball teams that are good enough to have a five and dive fit starter yeah
Battle Mariners aren't one of them. They're not one of them. They're still so built on run prevention and built on starting pitching being a key core as an understatement that you just simply can't afford to have Logan Evans be your fist starter. Just real quick, let's just get into who came in afterwards. Carls Varis can't work in high leverage for a long, long time. That was awful. And, you know, it started out great. And we have to think, I don't remember who it was who hit into the double play.
But thank you for swinging at that first pitch because it helped a lot because if you
would have been patient against Vargas, there's a great chance that you're either going to get
plunked or you're going to hit an absolute, you know what missile into right field.
Like his command is just so off. And it's worth pointing out that Carlos Vargas was away for a while.
He was on paternity leave. Congratulations on the new member of your family.
But I've seen enough from Vargas to know that he can't.
be that seventh inning guy, right? Like if you go, if you start to go six and you want to go the
traditional seven, eight, nine, dude, that seventh inning guy has to be bizardo now. It has to be.
And I'm trusting Trent Thornton and Casey Legamita more than him right now as well. Yeah. I mean,
the Mariners, the production that they have gotten from Carlos Vargas makes this a success, no matter what,
because who could have expected anything. But he, it's over. That's over for a while. He's got to work himself
back into a role that is more than just low leverage stuff right now.
I completely agree. And, you know, it's actually a conversation to be had. And it actually
worked out on your favor today, even though you had the things flopped, right? If you had
had maybe Bizarro come in in Vargas's situation, we wouldn't have had even go to extra
endings. Yeah. Yeah. But he ends up coming in and extras and just shutting down the middle of
the order. So it just, he looked so good out there. And,
getting no runs at the top of an 11th inning.
So you just have to get an answer opened up that sacrifice bump,
which I was okay with, by the way.
Perfectly good situation for that when it's a tie game,
bottom of the inning in an extra innings game,
master bony's up.
Perfect situation for the sacrifice punt.
I am totally okay with it in that spot.
And Koyang ended up coming through.
Let's talk about the offense for a little bit.
We're going to give our love to our sponsors in a second.
I just want to give some love overall to the offense.
before we dive into a couple of the bigger moments today.
Yeah, it was a pretty solid offensive game.
The top of the lineup wasn't very good.
JP, Julio, and Cal combined to go one for 14 with a walk and a run score.
That's not the best.
But some other guys really contributed today.
You saw a really strong game.
Well, there's an abat from Dominic Canzon I want to talk about a little bit.
That's one of the worst at bats I've ever seen in baseball period, any level.
Yes.
Any flip and level.
But Randy was good today.
I want to talk about something Randy did earlier in that game in a second as well.
Luke Rayleigh was good.
He scores seven runs and he draw six walks.
That's a good offensive baseball day.
That is a good, solid offensive day.
It probably should have been more.
Lance McCuller sucks.
And it's not fun for me to say that, even though he's an astro and all of that stuff.
But like, it's fun for me to say it.
You can be nicer than me.
It's so fun for me to say.
He sucks.
He is a terrible baseball pitcher.
I could say that about Dylan Moore.
I could say it about Lance McCuller.
Here's the thing.
It just,
you already called me old once.
And it wasn't that long ago that Lance McCullors was one of the best starters in the
American League.
Yeah,
it was a really good pitcher.
And then misses two full seasons because of injury.
It's hard.
It's hard sometimes as a father time guy who is realizing, you know, how life works.
That sometimes, um,
people just become terrible.
And Dom, or excuse me, I almost said Don Fianzone, Lance McCuller's Jr.
is terrible now.
And you probably should have had had more offensive success today.
But overall, a very solid offensive day.
Yeah, let's quickly talk about some Fandol,
and then we'll get into a couple of the bigger moments in the game.
There's so many to talk about today.
I don't even know where to start.
But comment where you guys think this game changed.
You can go to Col Young walkoff, obviously.
We can talk about the Randy.
situation, both good and that from him.
We can talk about the, the Bizarro just shut down Masterclass, the top of the 11th inning.
The, I don't know, the Dylan Moore knobbunt, like what's going on there.
But first, Chris and I are going to talk about fandom while you guys jibble javille
in the comments.
Sound good.
Jibble jable jibble jable.
Yeah, jibble javl.
All right, summer sports are in full swing, and whether you're all about baseball under the lights,
golf on the green or high-stakes soccer action.
FanDuel is the best way to make every game even more exciting.
You're already following the action.
Why not make it a little more thrilling?
I can't imagine more thrilling than this one.
But with Fandul, you can get in on the game while your friends are getting burnt at the beach.
Honestly, the coolest thing about Fandul is the fact that they have those daily new
promotions.
Like, you can never get bored with what you're doing with Fandul.
They always have something interesting for you to try out.
And then the fact that they pay out so quickly.
the fact that you can use that money and put it in your bank account right away,
or you can use it to make another bet.
It makes things super easy.
We should all thank Fanduel for that.
New to Fandle, new customers can bet just $5 and get $150 in bonus bets.
If your first bet wins, open the Fandul app today or visit Fandul.com to get started.
All right, Chris Crawford, what do you want to start?
Tons of big moments in this game.
I'm going to go quickly with the, I forget what inning it was,
but Randy Rosarena hits a single.
Yes.
And then tries to stretch it into a double.
I think this is the third inning, I want to say.
I think it was his first at bat.
Okay.
You are correct.
Yes, because this is where Dom Kanzone gets hit by the pitch.
And then J.P. Crawford gets called out on strikes with bases loaded, which wasn't a strike.
But give or take with what was going on with the umpires, it was about.
even doubt because there was a couple walks in there that shouldn't have been walks.
Anyways,
Randy's tries to stretch into a double week.
We talked about this with Julio, the base running blunders, they need to stop.
They absolutely need to stop, whether it's Julio, whether it's Randy.
I can't think of it.
It's happened a couple times of Polanco this year, too.
It just can't happen.
You're giving away out for a team that, you know, offensively has been good,
but one thing that I think it can be better at is on base.
So you're just giving away more opportunities to score runs.
Talk about what you saw from Randy in that situation.
So my issue with what Randy did there was just keep going.
Just keep going.
Once you've made that turn, just keep going.
You get thrown out at second.
Yeah.
It's, you know, it's aggressiveness that gets, the problem is,
is trying to get back to first, right?
Like that defeats the whole purpose of being aggressive.
But I will say this.
What I really liked was that Randy was still aggressive on the double.
He was on the double that he hits.
He didn't take it with him.
And he said, you know what?
Screw it.
I'm a fast young man.
I'm going to do this and I'm going to put myself in the scoring position.
And it paid off.
Huge.
It was a massive play.
They do not win that game without that play.
But yeah, just silly stuff.
Don't give up outs.
Don't give up outs.
You know, especially against a guy like McCullors where he's going to give you opportunities with free passes, right?
Like you don't need, if you are going to be aggressive, go for it.
it. But if not, hey, just station to station is fine against this guy because he's going to help
you get more stations, right? That's the whole, my biggest issue with it. So that third inning,
they do, or excuse me, that next inning, they end up getting a couple of runs and it's four to
one. And then they hit it, they give up another run that's charged to Evans in the fourth.
we could probably spend 64 hours talking about the fifth inning where or it wasn't the sixth
no whatever inning it was where hit by hit pelusa starts right oh yeah six stop top six yeah top six
okay so one thing i just want to make abundantly clear all right a warning to a pitcher does not mean
that if you hit someone you go to jail right that's not what it is right the the the the
warning is to say if we think you are throwing intentionally at this person,
there will not be another warning. You're done. You are gonzo. Okay. It is not to say,
if you throw inside, then you are going to jail. That's not what this is. Okay. So when Solano
gets hit and everybody throws a fit, no, you should not have ejected Brian Abrae there. It was
clearly not intentional. Having said that, my unsung villain, here's an early one of
you is Mauricio DeBahn because how stupid do you have to be to think that that's intentional?
And I saw a bunch of people telling me, no, he wasn't saying it was intentional. He was saying
what is he saying. Well, here's the thing. Apparently what he was saying is, come on, man,
figure this out. You're going to hurt one of us, right? That's not your call. That's not your call.
And if it was that easy, then Carlos Vargas wouldn't hit anyone in the first place.
Yes. He doesn't want to hit these guys. He doesn't have a clue.
where the ball is going and good for Maniacta.
He points to the scoreboard, right?
And he's not saying scoreboard.
Like, we're ahead.
Shut up.
Sit down.
He's saying, dude, we're up by two.
Why would we want you?
Yeah.
That whole inning was absolutely bonkers.
Just bonkers.
And I almost had unsung villain for this game.
If they would have lost it, it would have gone to Ben Williamson.
Because I know they give him a hit and that ball was scorned.
scorch, don't get me wrong.
If you're Ben Williamson and you don't provide offensive upside, you have got to make that
play.
And that probably should have been a double play.
It probably should have been a double play.
Even if it's not, you keep it in the infield and avoid the run.
Yeah, and here's what I will say.
Once it hit his glove, there's nothing he can do about that, right?
Like maybe if he was six foot two, he could like, you know, Alexi Lawlison jump up and
try to head it into somebody.
But like, that's out of his.
control in that part, but at least knock it down and keep it in front of you.
You know what I mean? Like happy Gilmore, you know, maybe just like let that thing
each you a little bit. And Ben Williamson can't be insulted for his defense very often because
he's been spectacular, right? He wouldn't be in the lineup if he wasn't. But you have to make
that play if you're Ben Williamson because if Ben Williamson is not helping with the glove,
he ain't helping. There's just, I think he's probably the only Mariners.
you can say that you literally have to play quality defense in order to justify not just a line-up
spot, a roster spot.
That was big.
That was really big.
And I was prepared for that to be the talking point of this game, right?
Yeah.
Because Gabe Spire wasn't good either.
Gabe Spire was not good tonight.
But I will say this, Casey Legamina, man.
That was really good.
Trent Thornton was really, really good.
And we talked about Bizarro and Andres Munoz was fantastic.
Yes, he was.
Tonight as well.
Fantastic with his slider.
Matt Brash.
Oh boy.
This is looked kind of rough lately.
Now, look, the first run, the run that scores is kind of not his fault.
It's an error by Miles Mastroboni.
I hope they gave him an error on that, by the way.
I did not see if they did or not.
We got one error.
So if they didn't give it to Williamson, I'm assuming it's on.
Oh, the other air was Julio Rodriguez.
Did they give that to him?
Yeah, they gave Fulio that air.
That's fair.
That was an error.
Yeah, I was an error.
Luckily, it didn't end up mattering.
Nobody scores or anything like that.
But, hey, play better, Julio.
The, and Brash gives up the run and it's not earned because it's the zombie runner and blah, blah, blah.
Boy, his command was awful to me.
Not good.
Awful.
And if there was a closer controversy, it ain't going based on what we saw.
And there was one, right?
There's just some people who really like Matt Brash.
And I, that's, and it's kind of nice that Matt Brash has given up runs now rather than like later in the year.
Right.
Like you can't have a 0.00 you're right forever.
But man, oh man.
What else?
There's 45 things I want to talk about.
I have so much written down here.
The top of the six, right, what you said about Ben Williams,
and I want to touch on that for just a second.
Sure.
I was curious because, like, at first I was like, yeah, okay,
I was hit really hard.
And, like, okay, he does well just to even touch that.
And then on replay, I was like, yeah,
maybe he should be doing a little bit better with that.
And the more I watch it, the more I expect Ben Williamson
to be doing better with that.
You know, he's been great with the glove.
It's more compliment than insult, isn't it?
Exactly.
Yeah.
And I think what you said is perfect, especially if you're not providing offensive upside,
which he's not right now.
You have to be making these elite plays.
This is where your value comes, right?
So in these big games where you need to make those stops,
and even if it's not getting it out, it's stopping a run,
that's what defensive run saved is all about.
That's where it comes from, right?
And it's making those plays, keeping it in the infield.
And it ends up biting them in the moment.
but overall we end up making up for it.
That was the big sixth inning.
I want to touch back on Randy because we talked about him making the base running error,
but then overcoming that against Brian Abrae.
I know for whatever reason the Mariners have Brian Abraeus number,
but guys, this guy is one of the best relievers in baseball.
If you only watch Mariners games, you won't think that because we just rake on him for whatever reason.
this dude has only given up, I think, like, seven or eight runs total this year.
And I think like six of them have been Mariners, which is crazy.
So him hitting that and then recognizing, hey, I need to be aggressive here.
I need to get that double, get into scoring position, and we need to score a run here.
Because I think the Mariners were down at that point.
Yes, they were.
It was five to four Houston.
He gets the double.
Donovan Salono gets hit by the pitch.
Dompkins owns that bad.
Second and third.
Oh, one out.
Oh, my God.
I don't even want to think about it.
It's so bad.
And look, credit to Canzon, who has the big double earlier in the game and had a couple of other decent at bats in this one.
But like, to say he was overmatched in that a bad is the understatement of understatements.
And thank God it doesn't end up hurting them, right?
because
yeah,
a brain who ends up
throwing that wild pitch
to masturbone
and like you said,
a Rose Arena is not
scoring that run
if it's not for that hustle.
It's not for that hustle.
And,
but boy,
that is just,
the crazy thing is,
I've been asked about Canzone a lot
and like how much confidence
you should have in him.
And if you look at the numbers,
it's probably should have some confidence.
It's backing it up.
But then you look at bats like that
and you say,
are you sure? Are you real sure? Like, because you can't get overmatched like that and feel,
and I'm not asking anyone to be perfect, but I am asking people to look not like a
little leaguer facing a Hall of Fame pitcher. That's what it looked like, right?
That at bat was just terrible. So I liked the sack buntz the Mariners had minus one.
Okay, which one didn't you like?
Jorge Polanco Sackbunt is not my thing.
Even though it ends up working out.
Well, it does and it's purely by luck.
Yes.
And here's where we have to give credit to Big Dumber,
who played a horrific offensive game today.
Okay, horrible.
Horrible, horrible, horrible.
missed some unbelievably easy to hit pitches, for Big Dumber anyway.
You and I, the rest of the chat,
there's 545 people here right.
now, by the way, that's insane. So much fun.
I love you guys. Come, come hang out with us every game. We're live right after every single
Mariner's baseball game. Like the video if you haven't already. Really appreciate it.
Yeah. And, you know, I almost guarantee, and Goldsmith brought this up on the broadcast,
Aaron Goldsmith, for those of you who are unfamiliar somehow, uh, saying, you know,
Jorge does bunt on his own a lot. He does. And I think probably, and, you know,
the way he didn't set himself, right? So I don't, it was drag bunt adjacent.
where you're bunting for a hit there.
I want Jorge Blanco swinging the bat,
especially with the guy who's batting next.
The reason I think it was his decision is because he's done this multiple times
against left-handed pitchers and it was against hater.
So for whatever reason,
he just has less confidence swinging the bat when he's from the right side.
So he feels like, hey, I can put the bunt down
and at least give some sort of value offensively,
which good on you from Jorge, if you feel like, hey, you know what,
I can still provide offensive value by swinging from this side of the plate.
But at the same time, you have to know the situation, know who's behind you.
It's Dylan flipping more against Josh Hater.
So like, let's get into that.
We could talk about that at bat forever because he looks so lost, so lost at the play.
He swings and misses twice and you're just thinking, oh my God, this is.
over, right? Like, because Don Quanzone ain't getting a hit off of, so. And then,
which he doesn't right after that. No, he does not. And I have to give a ton of credit to two people
here because the umpire was atrocious tonight. The balls of strike were just all over the place.
Shout out to home plate umpire for not calling that a hit by pitch immediately. It's good call.
Because it's similar to the NFL thing where don't call the,
fumble or don't call it not a fumble right away. Don't call it dead because nothing can happen.
It's a lot easier to reverse what happened. Well, I'm still not sure what the hell happened there.
I don't know if that was a foul fair ball or not. Like it looks like it hits two thirds of Dylan
Moore and one third of the bat. And I guess property blah, like it's just like two thirds or whatever.
I don't know. But I've never been.
and I'm super glad Dylan Moore's okay, just to make that clear,
because it looked like he was in a lot of pain afterwards, right?
Like a lot of pain.
And good for Big Dumpur for hustling his Dumper off.
Good for you, man, because a lot of people would have just assumed dead ball,
nothing to do, but that dude is so smart and gets in to score that run.
I mean, that's the most good luck I've seen from a,
Seattle Mariner team in a long time. Yeah. Yeah. I had a different view on, I think that was almost
all that. And Dylan Moore was trying so hard just to get on base. Interesting. Interesting.
And then he saw him laugh at off as he was walking into the dugout. Well, see, I missed that.
So that's great. And if it is, if it is good for Dylan Moore. And that's a great heads up play
because it stopped everyone. Everyone's like, did it hit him in the dumpers running the home
point that he even have a chance to get him. So like even if he is faking that, it ends up working
out in his favor. But it's just hilarious to me how Dylan Moore just struggling his tail off for
the past month tries to get on base by getting hit by pitch. The wrong play, because the better
play is to actually have that be a live ball and have dumpers score. And it ends up working out in
his favor because everyone thinks that him reacting that way means it was a hit by pitch. So that's
And to be clear, he couldn't place that.
He couldn't have tried to do that, right?
No.
Like, there's no way he could have tried to place that baseball any better.
No.
But, oh, that was so fun.
And then Pizarro, we talked about it, just shoves in the top of the 11th.
And then, so you got a runner on second.
Love the decision to bunt for Master Boney.
Yes, that is the one where it's like, yes.
Yes, 100%, where you just need the one run.
Like everything else doesn't matter, right?
You just need the one run.
And then Cole Young did not look great on the first couple of swing attempts there,
but just enough.
And it's so cool to see this guy's got two walk-off hits now.
That's two walk-off hits in the span of what, a month?
Like almost exactly a month, I think.
Yeah.
Came up right in the middle of June.
Yeah.
That was really cool to see.
And it's awesome to see hard contact against the lefty,
even if there have been moments where it's like, oh, there's a long way to go here.
But there's just enough good.
In fact, just enough's not nice enough.
There have been enough good moments to say it's worth him going through some lumps because the bitter is going to be better.
The better is going to overcome the bitter in 2025.
And it's way going to overcome it in 2026, 2027.
He is a core part of your club.
that's just such a massive win.
It's so big.
And I talked about it at the beginning and I'll mention it again.
Now this is a horrible, no good, very bad loss for the Houston Astros instead, right?
And that feels great, baby.
Let's go.
And here's the thing, right?
Like we kind of made this assumption last time that, hey, these high leverage guys aren't going to be available for Houston.
Now I think for sure those high leverage guys aren't going to be available for Houston.
Josh Hader ain't pitching again after throwing two innings, right?
No.
There's a good chance that Brian Abreu's not going to be available tomorrow either.
And heck, even if he is, the Seattle Mariners are the legal property management owners of Brian Abreu.
Like it's just crazy.
He has four blown saves all year and three of them are against the Seattle Mariners.
It's just crazy.
And some people forget that two of those are on massive hits by Julio Rodriguez, by the way.
Those line shots down the right field line.
But then today it's just a hustle double and a horrible pitch, a wild pitch.
But this, this, and you got your, you got your ace on the mound now.
You got your ace on the mound against not Houston's ace, but a very, very good starter.
I would have guessed that we have a lower score tomorrow than we did today.
But this is just huge.
It's absolutely huge.
You done what you needed to do.
It is now three games, chance to make.
it too. Worst thing that happens is it's four and you pick up ground, right? Also keeping an eye on the
wild card stuff right like Boston loses. I didn't see if Tampa Bay won that game or not.
I think that lost. Great. The York one though. Great. Yeah. Yeah. And you know, Toronto's playing
really well. So it kind of looks like the Yankees are a wildcard team right now, which is kind of crazy.
But this is just awesome. This is just really, really awesome. And, you know, we've talked about this
couple times before when we do the postcast.
I know we're going a little late, but there's just so much to talk about today.
When you win the first two games, you go into that third game playing with house money a little
because you have a chance to go sweep.
And I think the Mariners will see how much urgency is with the lineup they put out tomorrow.
And I'm not saying that there's any sort of like, hey, we're punting this game sort of thing.
But there can be more of a sense of urgency tomorrow with an ability to get within two games
of the AOS just in the first series right after the All-Star break.
But you have whatever you want to look at, however you want to look at it.
You got Brian Wool on the mound tomorrow.
I know you're going against Hunter Brown, who has been dominant this year.
So that's the change, by the way.
It was, it was Frambrough, and I apologize.
It was now that they switched it.
It's Hunter Brown now.
That's my fault.
It's Ace versus Ace.
That's Ace versus Ace.
That is, in my personal opinion, the second best starter in the American League going
up against Brian Wu, who was in the top five right now.
So, like, this is, this is big.
Like, you don't have to win this game.
I want to.
I want it so bad.
I will have my broom ready to go that I used to use for my awa.
Oh, right?
I will have it ready to roll.
But it becomes a lot less necessary.
And the more the Mariners can do to make things not necessary over these next 60 plus games is
wonderful.
Yeah.
And just the vibe that you already won the series, you can go out and try and win.
And if you don't tomorrow, it's fine.
You've already gained ground on the Houston Astros.
But I want to see a sense of urgency, all right?
The division is very much still in play because of tonight.
Because of these last two games, the division is still in play.
And that's what makes this series against Houston so dang important.
And you got it throwing out Logan Evans.
And I love you, Logan Evans, but you are our fifth best starter right now.
It's just the way it is.
At best. At best, right?
Yeah.
And, you know, I do want to say this just to close things up, I suppose.
Appreciate this.
I have been a Seattle Mariner fan.
And I'm not placating and I am not saying that what's going on is good enough.
Let me make that abundantly clear.
But we're fans and we can't control a damn thing.
We can't control anything.
Appreciate this.
appreciate how big these games are because a lot of years,
Andrews and I have agreed to do this through 2047.
We just signed along.
No, we did not.
But there's going to be a lot of years where we're talking about the Mariners win
to go to 48 and 63.
And it's just like, it's not that fun.
It's not that fun.
So when you have years like this where you are competitive,
we don't have enough of a history in this town to be like,
And I'm not that interested in this.
If you're a true baseball fan,
this should be an absolute hoot and holler for you.
And I'm having a blast watching this team over the last week and a half.
And that's crazy to say after the Yankee series, right?
Like that was such a kick in the took us.
And now look at what's going on.
Baseball's a weird, wonderful thing.
Yep.
You can start looking ahead to the trading deadline now.
Hopefully that you're adding to this team to make it better.
Like there's so many big, big revelations from this series specifically that are happening right now.
So enjoy it, Mariners fans.
You guys are showing out, by the way.
The broadcast, it's looking awesome.
Last night was completely packed tonight, not as much, but still the energy was totally there.
Hating on the Astros, which I absolutely love, by the way.
Please continue to do that.
Boo out to every time he comes up at the place.
By the way, I would have loved to see Carlos Vargas after the morning,
after hitting two straight guys, the Nav and Altuve come up.
I would have loved to see him just plunk Altuve get tossed,
and you were going to swap him out anyway after that.
Anyways, I rest my case.
Keep it going, boys.
We really appreciate you guys.
This has been probably our biggest turnout in terms of people coming to hang out with us today,
which is why we went a little bit long today for you guys, keeping up the content.
Stick, keep it here.
Locktown Mariners will have an episode for you guys.
coming out on Monday.
We'll be with you guys again tomorrow
right after the game at 1-10.
Let's go get the sweep.
We got, like we said,
it's Ace versus Ace tomorrow.
Hunter Brown versus Brian Wu.
Brian coming off
his first ever all-star appearance.
So hopefully he's got the juice
going through his vein.
So I would really love
a huge, huge series sweep
versus the Astros.
Last word, Christopher Crawford,
before we say goodbye.
I'm tired.
I am too.
But good dove.
Good dove.
Thank you.
