This is the Mariners Postcast.
Your instant game reaction for the Seattle Mariners.
Part of the Locked-on Podcast Network, your team every day.
Well, if there's one positive to the game ending the way it did,
I didn't have to watch Dylan Moore swing another at bat.
Because you probably would have if that game goes into X trainings.
Probably.
Yeah.
Yikes.
The Mariners drop this one.
Their winning streak ends at eight.
and now with the Astros winning tonight,
they are back a game below them in the ALS standings.
Final score was four to three.
Baltimore, more rain delay issues,
more Logan Gilbert, one mistake issues.
It's bound to happen.
You're not going to win the rest of your games of the season.
It just kind of sucks to have it in this way.
Boy, you even mentioned on the air for KJR.
I think you spoke this into existing Chris Crawford when you brought up the guy
who was hitting 9th tonight to me as you were hosting today for Ian Furness,
one to three.
It's tough to watch.
Now, not only with the bat, but with the glove too.
And he makes a good catch, but we'll talk about that.
This is your Mariners postcast, Anderson Hurst, Chris for Crawford right next to me.
We go live right after every single Mariner baseball game on the Locktime Mariners YouTube channel.
Appreciate everyone tuning in with us today.
we're going to talk about Mr. Dillon Les.
We're going to talk about Logan Gilbert's start.
We're going to talk about the offense or lack thereof.
And then we'll do our unsung hero slash villain and hopefully flush this one down the toilet and start a new winning streak tomorrow.
Chris Crawford, your initial thoughts after today's game.
You know, I'm not, I'm not numb, but I'm having a tough time getting too angry about this one.
Like it's frustrating and process was bad today and results obviously bad too.
But like it does kind of feel like the you can't win them all, right?
Like you can't win them all.
And you know, there was good stuff tonight.
I thought that Julio Rodriguez played a fantastic game.
I thought Logan Gilbert pitched fantastically.
I loved what happened in the ninth inning one particular play.
I'm going to give Dan Wilson some flowers there.
But man, it's frustrating to lose that way.
It's frustrating because you were the better team for the almost entirety of the game, right?
And Baltimore stinks.
This is a bad baseball team, like really bad baseball team.
But I'm having a tough time getting too worked up over it.
I'm frustrated.
I'll probably be more angry about it tomorrow, particularly if they don't win tomorrow because you need win series like this.
Yep.
not having that angry reaction that I thought I might for a game that they lost because it was justifiable.
Yeah.
Like the, this was a bad game.
This was a game that you should have won and he didn't win.
And when things are this close in the division race, losing is bad.
Losing is really, really bad.
There's a quarter of a season left.
These games mean so much.
But I got to be honest.
I'm,
I'm not as pissed as I thought I would be.
I stand a little more on the other side.
To me, like, number one, I wanted this winning street to kind of keep going.
Because if we saw in 2022 with their 14 game winning streak, I believe,
how much that alone can change your entire season.
And I wanted to see, you know, obviously that's the longest winning streak in Mariner's history.
So I'm not saying you're going to get to that again.
But those types of runs that you're going to go on.
and it doesn't mean it's over now.
But those types of runs can change an entire season.
That's what got you to the playoffs at the end of the day.
So I just kind of wanted to see the run go a little bit longer.
It's not going to go for the rest of the season.
I understand that.
That plus the way it happens, right?
I'll push back a little bit on the better team.
This offense was bad.
Both pitchers were good today.
good. Trevor Rogers having a great year. And Logan Gilbert was amazing minus one pitch.
It's like, and it always happens to be in the worst times for him, doesn't it this year?
It's just like, I don't know. And I have a feeling you're going to defend him a little bit, which is fine.
I just find myself increasingly frustrated by it because he can't seem to put a full start together.
And I really want to see that from him. So let's start with the start. What do you think of Logan Gilbert?
I thought it was fantastic.
And I think my biggest issue with Dan Wilson is pulling him when he did.
Like I thought he definitely had more left in him.
I think that Dan Wilson made a mistake not letting him go all seven because I think he definitely had it in him.
And while Gabe Spire has been fantastic, I trust Logan Gilbert today more than I trust.
I trust my starting pitcher more than any reliever outside of maybe Munoz and Brash when they're at their absolute best.
But yeah, I really liked what he.
I loved how efficient he was.
was the most efficient we've seen Logan Gilbert. Yeah, that's true. I'll leave 79 pitches today,
which is, you know, again, sometimes I think Wilson's guilty of managing to pitch counts a little
too much. Like, hey, if he hasn't thrown a lot of pitches, it means he should keep going. So I don't
think it was actually the opposite. You know, let Logan Gilbert pitch to Jeremiah Jackson. Let Logan
Gilbert pitch to the bottom of that order. It's not a good order. But I was really impressed with
what I saw from Gilbert today. And, you know, the, the, the pitch to Mount Castle, right?
It's the Homer. It was a bad location. It wasn't a question of stuff, right? It was a fastball
that had plenty of movement. It just backed into the middle of the plate and Mount
Castle put a good swing on it. One of the, if they had more than two extra base hits today,
I'd be surprised, right? Yeah. Just wasn't a lot out of it. And certainly, the Seattle Mariners should
have done enough for Logan Gilbert to get a win tonight, right? Yeah. And by no means, my
saying he's the reason they lost the game.
No.
And that's definitely not the case.
I just, I don't know.
I maybe it's just a me thing.
Maybe I have unrealistic expectations for him.
I'm seeing a couple comments saying like he was getting some hard contact in the sixth inning as well,
which I kind of remember seeing as well.
And then even the single right before they pull him because he left him in after the home run,
strikes out Ryan Noda.
And then Kobe Mayo hits the single.
And it was a pretty hard hit single.
and so I didn't have any alarm bells ringing when they took him out at that point.
I was like, yeah, kind of makes sense.
And we've seen it before with Logan Gilbert where one thing goes wrong and it all,
I don't want to say collapses, but it just looks like a completely different pitcher.
And it was starting to look that way.
He got a couple of bad calls and the Kobe and the Ryan Noda at bat.
It was like, what's going on here?
I think I'm not saying that, you know, he should have pulled him.
I definitely have more understanding of it than times in the past.
Let's talk about, let's jump right to the seventh inning,
because I think that's where things kind of got going.
It was nothing really going on.
Both pitchers absolutely dealing.
Give Trevor Rogers his credit.
He's had a fantastic season.
Yeah.
And he looked really good today, too.
I think this was more how good he was than how bad the Mariners lineup was.
Kind of the opposite of yesterday.
I know I wasn't on yesterday.
But I feel like this is more of the quality of the pitcher.
I saw very few pitches where I'm like he should have crushed that.
It was more just he just did not leave anything over the plate.
And you just got to give credit to him at that point.
But we get to the seventh.
Julio triples.
By the way, Julio, awesome day to day.
Yeah.
Really, really good baseball game.
It sucks.
You don't win it.
He gets things going.
It's still zero zero at that point.
You could tell he's like, let's go.
Let's get it fired up here.
awesome triple.
And then Gino flies out, but then Josh Nailer hits a ground ball to score Julio Rodriguez to make it 1-0.
Mariners.
Mitch Garver pops out, another bad day to day.
Jorge Polanco flies out as well, another bad day to day.
And then literally the first pitch of the bottom half of the seventh inning is where I'm Mountcastle-Homers to make it 1-1.
Do you want to talk about any of that sequence or do you want me to go to the other sequence in which the Baltimore took the lead?
Just real quickly, that was such a great bat from Julio Rodriguez on the triple.
He fouled off some really tough pitches and then, I believe it, the exit velocity was 108 on that triple.
Yeah.
And it was a great pitch.
It was a great pitch.
That is the Julio Rodriguez that I want to see, right?
And we've seen a lot of it so far, so far.
We've seen it since really the middle of July till now, right?
This has been the Julio Rodriguez that we want to see.
He has always a terrific bat in the ninth that we can talk about as well.
But that was big.
And then big for Naylor just to make that hard contact, to get that ball through there.
Mitch Carver is just not a very good thing.
He's atrocious.
He's atrocious.
It's really a problem.
And you take a look at what Harry Ford is doing in the minors.
And it's, you know, it's slowed down for sure.
But like, you still take a look.
And it's hard for me to argue that Harry Ford doesn't make this team better, right?
It's hard for me to argue.
It's stunk that they couldn't get more done than just that one run, right?
Like it's great that they at least got the one and you feel pretty good because of how
Gaelilbert is pitched.
But then, you know, a fastball just leaks over the plate.
It just leaks over the plate.
But then bottom of the seventh, right, you bring in game Spire.
That was an awful pitch from Spire.
Yeah.
Awful to a horrible hitter.
Jeremiah Jackson's hitting like 296 because he has a sample size of about negative four at bat, right?
You hang that ball there and the ball goes off right field.
and we're going to have to talk about,
there's no way Dylan Moore could be our unsung villain
because it's very sung.
It's a very, very song.
He's the villain.
He is the villain, right?
And again, I'm glad you brought up.
He did make a really nice play in the album.
Yeah.
I was just real quick,
he was going to be my unsung hero of the game
if they win this one because next player,
Gunner Henderson hits a double.
He scores on that play if Dylan Moore doesn't make that play
and the Mariners lose.
So I'm thinking that's my unsung hero.
Yeah.
F no, that's not what's going to happen.
because and I'm sorry, I love Ryan Rowland Smith.
I think he does a terrific job.
He called that unlucky how Dylan Moore played that ball off the world.
It was horrible.
It was a horrible read.
You know what it looks like to me?
I'm just going, like you can keep going.
Sorry, it just looked like he thought above the scoreboard was a home run.
And he could have been.
Could have been.
Yeah.
And then I will give him credit.
He makes a nice throw into Naylor to further cutoff.
And you know what?
Josh Naylor, Hero a little bit.
You could argue one song villain awful throw there, awful throw.
And that's the third time I've seen Josh Mailer make a god awful throw for the Seattle Mariner so far.
I've seen some good ones.
His arm strength is elite.
He has one of the best throwing arms.
But the accuracy has not been there, man, at all.
That was a huge play in that moment.
And we can't blame it on the rally tag there.
No, that was just a really bad throw to the plates.
But man, that's got to be played better.
If you play that better, you have runners on second and third and you give Spire a chance to get out of that inning without giving up stuff, except it wouldn't have mattered because Dylan Moore drops a frickin fly ball on the very next play.
And what happens?
I think goodness it was foul, except it didn't matter because the guy hits a hit right afterwards, right?
That was pathetic.
That was pathetic baseball.
Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic.
And here's what I'll just say.
We can talk about it a little bit in the second half.
It's pretty easy right now.
When Victor Robbins is ready to play, Dylan Moore gets designated for assignment.
It's an easy move.
You don't have anybody in Tacoma.
You're not calling up Harry Ford for him because you can't play in the outfield, right?
That's just not something that can happen.
You're not calling up Luis Arias right now for him.
He can't play in the outfield.
That's not going to happen.
You need an outfielder.
Victor Romless is going to be ready in about a week.
Victor Robles takes Dylan Moore spot.
He's designated for assignment.
He goes unclaimed and you say, thank you for a couple of nice seasons.
You're done.
He cannot be a Seattle Mariner anymore.
I really hope today is his last game played.
Like he should not like maybe pinch runner before that happens.
But dude, you're known for your defense.
You're hitting like 0.34 since May 28th.
I think we did it.
And it's worse because he went 0 for three tonight with two strikeouts again.
Strikeouts, yep.
Absolutely.
So like, okay, if you're going to do that, you better be good at defense.
And he's not.
Like he's just not.
Okay.
I'm sorry.
They didn't even give him the error.
on the mist off the wall thing,
which allows it inside the flipping park home run.
How is that not an error?
Are you kidding me?
They give the air, it's unfortunately to Nailer,
and they give more of the air on the drop foul ball,
but it's like the defense today,
and it's too bad because there was actually
some really good defense today,
but those are the type of mistakes you just can't make.
And as particular, I'll just say this,
these are mistakes you can't make on the road, right?
Like, you can't make those mistakes.
on the road. And this is my biggest concern is the Seattle Mariners. It's been not this case for
at times this year. They're so much better at home than they are on the road. So much better of a
baseball team, man. This was bad. This was a really bad game. And Dylan Moore, I don't know what
the WPA is, but like it's got to be way down there because he really hurt your chances of winning
today. Yeah. We'll talk more because I have a question regarding Dylan Moore.
later in the game. I don't know. To my untrained eye, it looked a little weird. I'm going to ask
you that. It comes in extra innings. Let's take a quick break. We'll come back and kind of
break down the rest of the game. We'll do our unsung stuff and then kind of go from there. And we'll
give some props to Julio because he deserves it today. He had an awesome baseball game. He's like
the only one that did. So him and Logan. Okay, really quick at the end of this break,
chat what's your unsung hero who's your unsung hero who's your unsung villain can't be dillan more
i'm sorry he's too sung everyone's gonna say it but he should be dFA at this point like honestly
he should that that should be the last game that dillmore plays as the seattle mariner uh we'll come
back uh and we'll we'll chat about that on the way on the other side if you're running a business
you know that every miss call is money left on the table think about it think about the last time

All right.
Let's get in the rest of the game.
I was thinking that too.
Is that the actual stat?
Is it a home run in 21 other parks?
I believe it.
I can take a look at Savant, but I thought it would be more, to be honest.
I'm checking right now.
Yep, 21 out of 30 is what they say.
It's interesting.
It has an expected batting adjudge of 100, but that's just because of the fact that it is a,
you know, it's a long fly ball if it's not going to be, you're probably going to catch it.
But it is not a home run in nine parks.
Chase Field, Baltimore, Chicago, Colorado.
Kansas City,
Los Angeles,
Miami, Milwaukee,
and St. Louis.
It would have been a home run
in Safeco Field,
T-Mobile Park.
It would have been a home run
in a bunch of other parks.
And, you know,
sometimes I get mad at announcers
for pimping the home run
when it's not a home run.
Nope, Rick,
I thought it was a home or two,
man.
I thought that ball was long gone.
And that was disappointing
because I really thought he had
number 46 there.
Glad somebody brought it up.
Yeah.
No, honestly,
it's a completely forgotten moment.
for me in this game because so much happens after that well after that kind of blow up inning and
one thing i forgot to mention um when uh baltimore took their free one lead uh in the seventh they showed
a picture of logan gilbert in the dugout like what in the name of god just happened and he's like
seriously that's what happens after i leave this game and i just was like yeah me too logan me too uh
Uh, anyways, uh, let's get to the top of the ninth because, uh, after, you know,
Mariners flail in the top of the eighth and they get through the bottom of the eighth.
Good job Carlos Vargas, by the way.
Yeah.
Does his job there.
It goes one, two, three.
Top nine, Julio Rodriguez, uh, another single for him.
That was his second hit of the day.
Uh, I had a text chain going with my friend.
He arguably, I'm not going to say he single-hand.
I did Lee scored all three runs for the Mariners,
but he created all three runs for the Mariners.
His triple, and then he scores the Josh Neanderhorn run for the first run.
The single here, the double steel, which doesn't happen without Julio's speed.
He scores that run.
And then because of the double steel, you're able to move Eugenio Suarez to third.
And that's how the sacrifice fly happens to tie it up.
So really, in my eye, Leo created or at least had a hand in creating all three runs tonight.
No question about it because you're throwing a second base on the Suarez walk.
But I don't want to move past that too much.
That was a really nice walk from Suarez there too.
It was.
Right off some tough pitches, just barely held on on a few of them.
That was a really nice about.
I thought Suarez actually swung the bat pretty well or had a good offensive day today.
He gets the hard hit single.
He draws that walk.
Boy, there was a throw today that was concerning as heck, though.
He threw like a change up.
I saw that.
That was a little weird.
I'm just going to guess that the ball was moist.
I know everybody hates that word,
but I'm going to guess that it was like just a wet ball that just...
Because it's just something we never see from him.
No, it's not very far because the footwork looked fine.
Like it wasn't like he was super off balance or anything, but not a great throw.
But then, you know, Nailer, productive out is a stupid stat, but that was a productive out, right?
Like you hit the ball hard.
I was surprised that Baltimore wasn't playing at least halfway.
The run was scored either way.
Like, Julio's going to beat that out.
But nice job there.
And I also, I have to give credit for Dan, not just a double steal, because that's risky, right?
That is risky.
If they thought a second, I think Gino's out, by the way.
There's a very good chance.
There's a very good chance.
But runners, they always try to get that lead runner, right?
They always try to get that guy.
And at first, I thought Gino hadn't stolen first or second base because they didn't update
the little square.
Yeah.
And I was like, well, that's pointless.
That's the double play still set up.
It's great that maybe he's going to score.
but seeing him get to second base,
but good for Dan for taking that risk.
That's a good risk to take.
Now, I will say if he gets thrown out there
with the fact that there's nobody out,
maybe you're a little bit,
but I liked it.
You get more chances to play with runners and scoring.
But also think about the result, right?
It's a ground ball to the second baseman for Josh Naylor.
If you don't make that double steal, it's a double play.
Yeah, 100%.
So even if you do get out in that situation,
it's the same result, right?
Right. So I think 100% the right move.
100% but there's risk there so I'll hire him for taking that risk I will also say you know
they announced canzone as the pinch hitter good for him for leaving him on leaving him in there leave
there you know don't canzone with a chance because it would have been you know pretty tempting
i think to go to salano to go to somebody else on the bench I don't know who the heck was left on
the bench but like I thought that was the right call and really nice job by domkinson
getting that ball in the air and tying that game up really nice job doing that so right abe he knew
exactly what he needed to do and he's been doing it against
lefties. And that's maybe why I'm just not as mad about this game, because I really liked what I saw in the ninth inning. And then Matt Brash comes in and he gets, I believe the first two outs fairly easily. Yep. Then he gives up a single and that ball by Jackson Holiday who's going to be a superstar. I'm just telling you right now, Jackson Holiday, it's not been great yet. Jackson Holiday is going to be a superstar. There's unbelievable potential in that dude's bat. He lines a single.
I'd like my outfielder to get to that ball quicker.
Okay, that's what I was going to ask you.
Why, okay, why are we playing in the gap against a left-handed batter?
Sure.
In right field.
Yeah, it's, and it's a dead.
It's for Dylan Morgan.
Yeah, it's, it's, that's a tough one because, you know, if the ball does get into the gap,
then you're saying, well, why weren't you playing in those gaps to get there, right?
That's, that's, that's just a logical thought that a lot of people would have.
I mean, it's, it is what it is.
I would be playing closer to the line there.
because I just, number one, I trust Julio to be able to get to a lot of that stuff in the gap.
And number two, you've got to play to Dylan Moore's strengths is probably the wrong word.
But like, you don't, and Dylan Moore's not slow by any stretch of the imagination, right?
He's not the fast guy that he used to be, but he's not slow.
But his reaction time there seemed pretty slow, man.
The reaction time seemed pretty darn slow.
and maybe we're just trying to pick on Dylan Moore because we need a scapegoat, right?
But like it's a pretty easy scapegoat when you're like two for your last freaking 60, right?
It's just, it just isn't good enough.
And, you know, also it's worth pointing out, Matt Brash make better pitches, right?
Matt Brack has got to do a better job.
Where's closure mentality guy, by the way?
And where's he at?
Because I don't think he comes back here anymore.
I don't think he comes back here anymore.
And that's okay.
I hope he's doing well.
I hope you had a really nice day.
And I love Matt Brash.
I've made that abundantly clear for my 45 years of being on these stations and doing this stuff, right?
I love him.
But there's flog.
There's flog.
You got to make a better pitch.
You got to make a better pitch there.
And good for holiday for ripping that ball into the gap.
You know, you got to give credit to the other team.
Those things happen.
But you got to make a better pitch.
You got to get out of that inning and give your chance for your offense to score.
a run in the 10th inning.
Selfishly, I may get in trouble for this.
Kind of glad we didn't have to do an extra any game again.
Sure.
I guess.
We've done so many, man.
Yeah.
We've done so many.
And they're just anxiety-inducing, right?
Like, they are just one of those things.
This wasn't?
You had already given up on it, didn't you?
You're like, yeah, we're losing this game.
No, I really thought they were going to win.
I really did.
In fact, I was so confident that we were going to extra innings that I put my laptop down and I was going to go, you know, like go water my plants and go take care of some of that stuff because it looks like the rain's not coming until Friday, started planning some of that stuff.
And then all of a sudden, line drive into right center field.
Oh, I better get my computer ready and move this on over.
But I mean, it's, yeah.
John Badger points out.
Yeah.
You can't give a single to the nine hitter.
You just can't.
No, and that just can't happen.
Oh, let me give my unsung hero real quick.
J.P. Crawford played a really good game today.
I was going to say, he made a couple good plays, too.
Made a couple of really nice defensive plays.
He hit that ball hard to the opposite field.
It feels like he's starting to rediscover a little bit.
Now, again, I don't want to change this batting order.
Even with the offensive results, these last two games being lackluster, I'm fine with the batting order.
that they're putting together.
I'm not fine with two of the players playing,
and we're going to see Mitch Garver tomorrow.
Absolutely, are we going to see Mitch Garver tomorrow?
Why is he playing tonight then, man?
That's why Solano should have been in the lineup today.
And I realize Solano's not on better.
No.
I get that.
I'd still rather see him.
He takes better A-Bs to me,
and I realize the numbers don't suggest that,
but it looks better.
I don't know.
I do.
I think so, too.
And it also just lets you play with more stuff,
you know.
We talked about that on KJR today.
That's,
should we ask the Cleveland Browns?
No, we won't ask the,
Chris.
My unsung villains is Jorge Polanco.
Chris,
you're tripping,
just like Dillemore cost us that game against the Rangers.
He single-landedly lost us this game,
or my bad, enter Mitch Garber.
I'm confused.
I'm confused, too.
Matthew, I'm sorry.
You're probably making a ton of sense.
and I'm just really tired.
But, yeah, Dillon Moore absolutely cost us that baseball.
He's the number one reason why we don't win this game.
A thousand percent, a thousand percent.
Matt Brasch wasn't good enough.
The offense wasn't good enough.
But if Dillen Moore plays an average baseball game, then I think you win.
I think you win this game.
So that's very, very, very, very fresh.
I know you're used to going solo because I failed on you last night.
But I just, somebody talked about me and I wanted to see what the heck they were talking.
I get my unsung in.
Well, that's going to do it for us.
Thanks so much for tuning in.
No, please.
Go ahead.
No, it's all right.
My unsung villain is Jorge Polanco.
I've been kind of seeing this praises lately because of how good his at-bats have been.
I think I didn't see him make a bad defensive play tonight, to be honest.
So I'm not going to comment on that.
I think his defense has been fine recently.
At second base, he's fine to fill in.
playing second base against left-handed pitching,
which is exactly what happened today.
But, man, he had a bad game.
He had a bad game.
There was some bad A-Bs in some big moments there.
Yeah, I would agree with that for sure.
My biggest concern right now with Polanco is
he came into today hitting 258 in August.
That's, you know, that's okay.
343 on base percentage.
I'll take that too.
That's a solid OBP.
Slug in 355.
Yeah, a lot of singles.
A lot of singles.
only the one extra base hit in that month.
It was that Homer against Texas,
which was a huge homer because that's a game you win by one run.
But like,
I need to start seeing him drive to baseball again.
Yeah.
You know,
I would like to.
He goes through these ups and downs.
He does.
Oh,
he's always going to be like this.
It's a frustrating triangle of looking really good,
looking really bad,
looking at the 15 injured list with a strain hamstring, right?
Like that's just, that's unfortunately, that's, that's a script now, unfortunately.
So it's nice having in playing.
I will say this.
Cole Young needs to be a defensive replacement for Jorge Polanco-Lagin games too, right?
Like, are you seeing that?
Like, is that because of what you've seen up to this point?
Like, what tells you that that needs to be the case?
Because my eyes are telling me that he's actually okay at second base.
I haven't seen like a big play that he misses or a ball is that he's.
should be getting to that Cole Young does. It's a couple of things. That's a really good question,
by the way. That's why they pay you the big mucks. It's a couple of things. Number one, I just think
Cole Young is better there. Like I just have more confidence in him making the right play. And that's
not an insult to Jorge Polanco's mental ability or anything like that. The other thing is just
keeping him healthy, right? Just taking him off the field when you get that chance for him to rest,
I think is a big thing as well. So I personally think Cole Young needs to be your everyday second
basement. I want him in the lineup against lefties. I want him in the lineup at second base.
Like, I want him to play. And I want Jorge Polanco to be your designated hitter. That's just the way it is. And,
you know, if you have to make a change where Polanco has to come in late, so be it, right? If you have to
make that move. But Cole Young helps this baseball team so much. The at bats that he's taking,
like, I don't see how you can do anything but have Cole Young play as your second baseman right now.
So on the inevitable days, because it's not going to change, where Mitch Garvey.
her has to come and catch for Cal DHS, which one are you taking out?
Cal Raleigh needs to get some time off, man.
Like, Cal Raleigh just needs, and that's okay.
This is one of the reasons why you make that trade, in my opinion,
is because you don't need Big Dumper to be your savior.
You don't need him to be that Barry Bonds behind the plate, right?
Let him take a day off.
Let him get tomorrow off because you've got six games in two, three different cities
over the next week, right?
because you're going to have to go from New York to Williamsport, which I know is a very short trip,
but you're still going to have to do that. And yeah, Stackcast doesn't like Cole Young's defense,
but the eye test tells you, right? Every once in a while, you can just go with the eye test.
The thing that Stacast really hates about Cole Young's defense, by the way, is he has noodle adjacent arm.
Which the eye test does agree with.
Oh, absolutely. I made the joke about the Rawling stamp that would be there if you played Torstab, right?
But yeah, Cal Raleigh deserves some time off, man.
And this is the perfect time for it because you're going to want him in the lineup every
freaking day in September, right?
Every freaking day.
Let him take some time off in August.
Let him get a few days and have that day to be that weapon off the bench too.
That's a nice thing to have when you give one of these guys a day off, right?
You have one of these guys that you have to manage against.
It's not a great reason to keep him out of the lineup all the time.
but it is kind of a nice thing on those getaway days that oh crap there's josh naler on the bench oh crap
there's count raleigh on the bench oh crap can't really do hulio because no one else can play
center field but like oh crap randio rosarina is on the bench you change how you manage a game that
way there is a benefit to that too you clearly need to give these guys some time right and it's
yeah but if you do that guess who's playing the dillon moors and the mitch garters of the that is
that is that is why luke raleigh and that is why victor rubble's
need to get back as soon as possible, right? And you don't rush them. You don't do anything that
would affect their long-term health. But at the same time, you know, Robles looked pretty darn
good in his first rehab game back. I'm guessing that this is going to be a thing by the
probably the start of the home stand. It's my guess is when Victor Roblo's comes back. And
those guys make you so much deeper, so much deeper. To have Victor Robles and Luke Rayleigh,
not as everyday players as guys off your bench, right?
That's pretty exciting.
That's pretty exciting to me.
Yeah, I'm with you.
Sorry we went along a little bit tonight, guys,
but the Mariners dropped this one tomorrow,
a 10.05 first pitch, Logan Evans against Tomiuky Sugano.
It's not a given, guys.
This offense really needs to put together a good day
because they haven't in a pretty hitter-friendly part in these first two games.
They haven't put, like, the offense together that we've seen.
recently since the trade deadline.
Really quick.
Last question.
Who's a bigger issue?
Dylan Moore and Mitch Garber.
Oh, Dylan Moore for sure.
Like if Dylan Moore could catch,
then we could have an honest conversation here, right?
But like literally and figuratively, right?
If Dylan Moore could catch a baseball.
Or if Dylan Moore was capable of playing behind the plate.
But right now, I mean,
this is now three months,
three months of some of the worst
baseball that we have seen from a Seattle Mariner ever. That's not hyperbolic, guys. Go look at the numbers.
Go look at the numbers. And you can talk all you want about how it's a small sample because of the
fact that he isn't playing very much. But this is really bad. This is really bad.
James, all the best to your wife. We're praying for you, hoping for you, making sure everything's
okay. Thanks for spending time with us today.
I'm sure a difficult time for you. So thank you so much. We're all hoping.
for the best for you.
We'll talk to you guys tomorrow.
Really, you know, I think it's an important game, to be honest.
Like, I realize, like, yeah, like drop in two after you win eight in a row is not the end of the world.
But this is a series you need.
You have to win this series.
You will look back on going one in five against the Baltimore Orioles if you don't win this division or don't somehow miss the postseason.
You will look back that and not look back on that fondly unless you hate the Seattle Mariners.
And in that case, I hate you.
