So like the show notes says over there on the side
Pitching and defense, baby. That was the story today for the Mariners.
Bryce Miller was really good today.
And that's, you know, after heading into this game with a road ERA of 628,
opponents had slashed 251, 304, 473 against him on the road.
But today he ends up going six scoreless, just five hits allowed,
no earn runs, one strikeout, only one strikeout, but no,
walks. He got out of a basis loaded jam. I believe in the, what was that the third inning,
second inning, whatever. Overall, pretty solid day for Miller. So, yeah, what did you make of
the defense, the really good defense day? Like the throw from Julio for the double play, the
leaping grab from Thai France. Jorge Polanco made a nice pick. And then, of course,
Miller, who was really solid. Yeah, it was kind of throwback, Bryce Miller today. This year,
we've really seen Miller try and incorporate all five or six of his pitches, however many he's
throwing that day.
But today it was very fastball heavy.
It was 49% four seamer, 23% two seamer.
So, you know, 72% fastball today.
I didn't really have a, you know, it wasn't a great fastball in terms of, you know, generating swing and miss.
You only had four whiffs total on those 72 fastballs.
sorry, not so, 62 fast balls.
Well, I'm adding the percentages.
My bad.
Anyways, so it was a really, really not a great swing and miss pitch.
Four whiffs on 57 fastballs, 72% of his pitches thrown were fastballs as what I was getting at.
But he did get five called strikes on the four seamer, three called strikes on the sinker.
And, you know, he threw 29 of his 39 four seamers,
were strikes.
And 13 of his 18, two seamers were strikes.
So he was pounding the strike zone all day.
He was being aggressive in the zone with that pitch.
You know, then he kind of mixed in everything else, all of his off-speed stuff.
It was a splitter heavy day for him, 13 splitters in this one, which, you know, was actually
pretty effective pitch.
He did get two whiffs on six swings.
Also got a called strike on that.
That was his swing and miss pitch on the day.
not that he really had one, he only had the one strikeout.
So this was just Miller challenging guys.
You know, just here's the fastball, try and hit it type of outing from Bryce.
And again, the box score six hits or six innings, five hits, just the one strikeout.
Not really anything to write home about in that regard, but he holds the Padres scoreless.
He gives up seven hard hit balls.
They only really threatened once in the entire game.
So, yeah, you know, Bryce was.
was really effective. He was solid today.
Just kind of, you know, number four performance against a pretty good offense,
even though it is missing, you know, one or one or two of their, their bats.
Well, I mean, shoot, yeah, they're missing Tatis, but there's a couple of, you know,
300 hitters in this lineup. There's a couple all-stars in this lineup.
This is a pretty solid lineup. I mean, you know, a lot of guys that make a ton of contact,
like Louisa Rice and Donovan Solano.
Jackson Merrill's been great this year.
He's been great.
Yeah.
Jake Croninworth is back.
Jerks and Pearl Farr is obviously having a great year.
Yep.
Yeah. So it's a skilled Hassan Kim can be, although he's struggling right now.
But.
Mani Machado, obviously.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's a legitimate lineup with or without Tatis in it.
Yeah.
But, you know, again, credit to Bryce for just going right after these guys.
He very clearly had a game plan that I'm going to challenge people today with my fastball.
And he would get through six on only 80 pitches.
He probably had another one in him.
But this is, again,
part of that workload management thing that they're going to do with their young arms.
They want these guys to be available in September and October.
And Miller just hasn't, you know, he's still on not as much of an in his cap or a pitch
counter, whatever you want to call it as somebody like Brian Wu, but they are going to be a little
bit careful with him.
And you had Stanick fresh, you had both fresh.
You had Munoz fresh.
So why not use those guys?
Yeah.
So, yeah, Miller was really solid today.
Got help from his, from his defense.
But again, you know, that's what happens when you're aggressive.
You're in the strike zone.
You work at a quick pace, you know, fielders stay on their toes and they're able to make these plays for you.
So Bryce was very solid today.
Far from the best we've seen them.
But again, I really appreciate the aggressiveness with the fastball, just going right after these guys and daring them to hit it.
And for the most part, they couldn't.
A lot of the Padres hits even were just kind of like worm burner or C&I single types.
So it's not like he got barreled up really at all in this outing.
So really nice job from Bryce.
obviously the defense, you know, a couple of really big plays.
And then just, you know, some some really small plays that tend to go unnoticed.
But they're actually kind of tough.
The short hops at third base, the final out of the game, just good positioning there from the Mariners coaching staff and JP.
So Cal had a good day behind the play.
Blocked a couple of sliders with runners on third in that last inning needed that.
So, yeah, the defense and the pitching run prevention, right?
It's supposed to be their strength.
And today it certainly was.
And so it was good to see because.
Yeah, you could tell pretty early on the offense.
It was going to be a tough day for them, tough sledding for the offense.
Yeah.
Now, that's an easier pill to swallow than some of their other offensive performances this year.
Because Michael King's, Michael King's really good.
Yeah.
This was more, this definitely looked more like the Padres threw the ball really well today.
Yeah.
More so.
Yeah, they have a really good bullpen.
Yeah.
Well, when you get into those back, the back end guys, right?
Those two or three guys they have in the back end, yeah.
Yeah.
They can really crank it up.
But yeah, this just felt more like, hey, the.
Padres pitching is really good today, more so than the Mariners' offense is terrible today.
Right.
And thankfully, at least the mayor's pitching was just that much better.
In the series today, let's talk about Logan Gilbert last night here in just a moment.
But first, a reminder, this episode of the Lockdown Marys podcast is brought to you by booking.

So the pitching, of course, was fantastic in this series for the Marys.
And that goes beyond Bryce Miller and Andres Munoz today.
It was also Logan Gilbert yesterday, as well as Gregory Santos,
who we're going to get into a little bit later.
But this was also kind of an example, and you worded it this exact way on Twitter last night, of Logan Gilbert turning a great start into a good one because of, you know, given up late home runs, which ultimately didn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
Thankfully, the mayor has dropped eight on the Padres last night.
So he had some breathing room.
But yeah, you know, it would be nice to see Gilbert be able to finish off a start.
like it seemed like he was well on his way to a Maddox last night that didn't end up happening
but still like a really really good start for the Marys All-Star
yeah he was really solid again I think this is probably the third time
where you know the last hitter he's faced is hit a home run off of him
and it's unfortunate because his already really good numbers could be great they could be
like Cy Young worthy if you could just avoid that mistake in his last batter but you know
it happens he was at 87
pitches. He had a big lead. He wanted to challenge the number nine hitting catcher.
And he just, you know, it wasn't a very good pitch. But overall, Gilbert last night, really
solid goes into the eighth inning, which is, you know, kind of common now for Logan,
seven strikeouts, only the four hits, just the one walk. But yeah, it was, it was really interesting
too, because Logan didn't have like the big swing and miss pitch until later in the start.
He really, I think through six, he only had three strikeouts. So he really,
really tacked him on there at the end and you can see the splitter really starting to play up
as he threw it later in this game and the curb ball was actually his best pitch last night which is
something new uh you know wasn't he only at like 37 pitches through five or through four
i think through four yeah he was being very efficient uh it it was a really interesting outing from him
because it seemed like the podre's game plan was we're going to sit on the slider and that's the pitch
we're going to hit. And it's like, really? That, that's your game plan, huh? Because Logan threw 34
fastballs yesterday. He got eight swings and just one whiff on them, but he had 13 called strikes
on the four sear. Like, that's an insane number of called strikes on, you know, just on 34 pitches.
You don't swing at 13 of them. Like, that's, okay. So it really did seem like they were going to sit
on the slider. And I mean, he threw 26 sliders. They swung at 17 of them. So,
it was just a weird looking game plan. Logan took advantage. He was using the fastball
early to get up and counts and to get a bunch of quickouts with his off speed. But yeah,
the swing and miss pitch last night was actually the curve ball. He threw 12 of them. He got
four swings or sorry, eight swings, four whiffs, even got a called strike on that. So he had
three pitches with a called strike plus, call strike plus whiff rate of 38% or higher, which is
quite good. So yeah, it was just a really weird looking game plan from the Padres. It really
did look like they're like, you know, we're probably not going to hit the fastball. So let's just
focus on everything else. And that's that's not the strategy. Uh, you want to take with Logan Gilbert,
not this year. Not when he's mixing in everything else really well. So, yeah, Logan just
mixed it up and then, you know, just the one blemish at the end, unfortunately got him again. Uh, so
thankfully, like you said, this time, they had, uh, they had the lead to work with where it wasn't a,
a fatal mistake or anything like that. So, yeah, just another all-star quality performance from Logan
Gilbert that so those little things they're going to keep him out of like the top five of the
Say Young conversation but I'm sure he's fine with it although it looked like he wanted to
punch himself yesterday as he left the mound so I'm sure he's not fine with the way his outing
ended yeah thankfully though he didn't uh Ken Giles himself sure um I meant to ask you this
we're kind of all over the place on this show but whatever I meant to ask you this in the last
segment when when peralta hit that ball and the crowd reacted did you think that was tie game
because i did i wasn't sure i could tell that he didn't hit it that hard yeah uh like it was very
clearly jammed him a little bit and it was just like because that kind of get over jp's head or like
is jp like playing in the hole or something then you just can't get there in time uh so i wasn't
because i know he didn't hit it hard but if that ball is i i thought for sure with the way the crowd
reacted at the and even goldie kind of had like a little weird reaction to it i i thought it just had
enough height to get over and i was like yeah no like jp didn't have to make a spectacular play on that it
was just kind of a lazy pop-up so yeah uh you know kudos to the mariners uh analytics people who had
him positioned in just the perfect spot and you know for all those people who hate the shift and
all those pitchers out there who still hate the shift like it just saved you the game uh so uh yeah i wasn't
sure because i knew he didn't hit it very hard but
you know the Padres weren't exactly squaring things up really all day and so it wouldn't have been
that surprising that was a bloop single or uh you know they had like I think three of their six
hits were just like 28 hoppers through the infield so it did feel like yeah that's pretty fitting
you walk a couple guys you're not going to get away with that uh but they did so nice and And Andreas
Munoz six saves now of four outs or more that leads the majors
All-Star.
Put that guy in the All-Star game already.
You're already going to have to replace Logan Gilbert.
We know this.
Just do it with Munoz.
Yeah.
They already didn't put Julio in the Derby, which, I mean, if he's only got four home runs, I don't care.
Like, Julio and the Derby, that makes it must watch.
But at this point, I'm pretty sure they probably approached Julio and he said, no, I'm good.
They should have put Cal in the Derby.
I want to see Cal on the Derby.
I mean, he's got 16 home runs.
He had two last.
night one from each side of the plate like he did it back in Boston last year which was awesome
um I would love to see Cal in the Derby I don't know if he has any interest in doing it but I think
that would be a lot of fun to watch uh and speaking of Cal I know there's stolen base today I guess that's
just a thing uh Alex mayor had us had a stat today he's like the fifth catcher all time
to have 15 plus home runs and five plus steals before the all-star break
nice and he's in there with like Carlton Fiss
and Pudge Rodriguez
and I forget who else.
So some nice company.
Yeah, some good names there.
Yeah, if Cal was hitting 2.30,
like he'd probably be an All-Star,
but he just got off the interstate last night.
And it's been a very up and down season for Cal.
So it's a little tough to be too upset about his absence.
But, you know, he's certainly probably the gold glove winner right now behind the dish.
And he said he's got the home runs.
He's got stolen bases.
so, you know, I think you can overlook the batting average a little bit.
Sure.
For Cal, but Cal going to mess around and go 30, 10.
Why not?
Why not at this point?
I appreciate how much the Mariners ran today, by the way.
Yeah, I mean, again, with how much this offense has struggled,
you got to try and find a way to manufacture runs.
And look, that Cal stolen base led to a run.
I mean, particularly, you know, with how King looked,
with how the bowl like the arms you were seen out of the bullpen look like today was a good day
to be like let's try and create some chaos on the bases and and you know they they stole a couple of bags
Bliss got caught this may not be a great base dealer he was out by a pretty good margin so I can't
imagine he got a great jump on that but whatever it was worth a shot yeah so yeah but you know
the offense did score eight last night so yeah it was an interesting series for for the offense
because again like we talked about today like Michael King's really good and yeah you know
know those three guys that they face out of the bullpen today are really good as well very good um so you
don't feel too too bad about that like not as bad as you know as we've probably felt coming out of some
other games especially in recent weeks um but you know another one of those kind of regressive days for
hulio after he has like a big game yesterday he has the four hit game yesterday he has a four
strikeout game today so that's still found a way to impact the game yes yeah so that's good you
obviously the big play on center field to double off Solano.
But hey, let's give some props to Jorge Polanco.
Three hits in the series.
He goes one for three today.
He ended up driving in technically both of the runs.
He only gets credited for one of them because the other one.
It was a routine ground ball for Luis a rise who just let it go through his wickets,
which we greatly appreciate.
But yeah, you know, overall, solid.
series for Polanco, who right now is fighting for his spot on the roster, I would think.
Yeah, he looked better at the plate.
The one hit he did have today, it was a really good piece of hitting.
It was a fastball.
It was in the middle of the play, but it was down below the knees, and that's a pitch that we've
seen him roll over on a lot this year, and he didn't, right, he stayed on top of it,
drove it into center field.
Also had the really nice play today, and he actually, he looked fine defensively yesterday.
He just had the one blunder in the ninth because, of course, he did, because we can't
praise Jorge Polanco without him doing something to be like
made up for it today though with a nice pick at second
sure sure and you know
drove in the only RBI at the game
and he also drove in the other run thanks to Cal Raleigh
yeah and you know again it was just another
day where it's like hey you know who really is doing their job right now
for the Mariners besides their pitching the role players
they're really stepping out
because it was again not a good day
not a good series for
JP, not a good series for Garber,
not a good series for Rayleigh.
So, I mean, it's only two games.
So it's kind of tough to be like, oh, they suck this series.
Like, you know, whatever.
Hey, Victor Rubles. Another hard hit ball.
He probably should be playing.
Yeah. So every day.
Let's talk about Domkan zone.
And then let's talk about Gregory Santos here in just a moment.
But first, a reminder of this episode of the Lockdown-Ares post-game show is brought to you once
again by Price Picks.
prize picks is the easiest and most exciting way to play daily fantasy sports unlike other apps on prize

Pick more, pick less.
It's that easy.
And you're listening to the locked on Marriss post game show.
Once again, you can catch the M's and the Angels tomorrow night and across the weekend
on the Marr's hometown broadcast with Sirius XM via the.
XXM app.
All you have to do to find that is search the word Mariners.
And Colby and I were just talking in between segments here.
You might not have to face Taylor Ward potentially in this series.
Apparently the pirates are being aggressive to potentially acquire the Angels outfielder.
So that'd be nice if you had to miss him.
He's one of the very few bats you have to worry about in that lineup right now.
Angels can hit a little bit.
You will 100% be missing Luis Rehifo.
this week, which is fantastic because that dude, almost as scary as Mike Trout against the Mariners.
Like, almost that level.
He has historically crushed the Marrers.
He's done a lot of damage.
At least in my head cannon.
I don't know what the actual number is saying.
I'm going to look it up.
So, like, you do your thing here.
Sure.
Sure.
I would be shocked if he's not hitting like at least 300, 400, 500.
Yeah, I have to imagine that's what it is.
It feels like he always does something against them.
but yeah so David Fletcher back in the day right it's show hey Otony whenever you need to yeah I think so yeah
Mariners pretty much handle show hey Oatani but anytime David Fletcher comes up it's like oh well great
comes a double just over the head of Thai France right no matter how it'll happen uh so some
unfortunate news uh Dom Kanzone landing on the injured list today with a groin injury uh they've
recalled jonathan claisei
We were dead wrong about Ring Hefo.
Okay, so it was a headcanon thing.
Yeah.
244, 286, 431.
Yeah, I know.
The Mandela effect, the Rinne Hefo effect.
He's been really bad at T-Mobile Park and against the Mariners in Anaheim, it's 276, 326, 436.
I mean, that's pretty good.
It's solid, but like that's not like, you know, terrifying.
It just feels like every time he plays the Mariners.
he does something. Maybe he does. Maybe he's got like six go ahead base hits or something. But yeah, for the most part, the mayor has handled him. Either way, you won't have to face him this weekend. How about that? So yeah, so Canzone on the IL, clause is back up. There's quite a few things that we can talk about with the Canzone injury. One is like, if this is more long term, I mean, that kind of forces them into adding at least one outfielder, right?
Right.
Possibly too.
And then the other thing is Victor Robles.
Does he end up playing more today?
It seemed like that would be a good opportunity to do that.
They ended up playing Dillamore and left field instead.
But Roblese has been solid.
He's eight for 22 since joining the team.
Obviously, that's, you know, over the course of 27 sporadic played appearances
since, you know, June 5th when he joined the team down in Oakland.
But he has five hard hit balls, I believe, are.
already seven barrels since joining the team for five of his eight hits have been hard hit
balls and he has like a couple of other part hit balls that have gone for outs like the
the data so far suggests that rubless has figured something out whatever that is who who
knows and how sustainable that is who who knows but not sure it matters how sustainable it is
I think you just ride the hot hand also also though you know for a team that you know it seems
like they need, you know, as much of an overhaul as realistically possible offensively at the deadline.
I might check off one of the boxes, one of the many boxes the, you know, mayors have on their
shopping list this deadline. You know, like could Robles potentially be the equivalent of like a Tommy
fam type? Yeah. You know, with better base running in defense. Yep. In this instance.
Sure. I don't think you can make that call on 27 plate appearances.
why you should play him more.
So you can make that call by the time you get to the end of July.
But, yeah, no, Robles has been pretty impressive, you know,
and, you know, he had a rough first couple of appearances.
You know, he was he grounded into a double play,
gaming and double playing his first,
and then his first start, he dropped the fly ball.
But since then, you know, it's been really solid.
And he's, you know, hitting the ball hard with authority and he's got a home run.
He can run a little bit.
He can play some defense in all three outfield spots.
Like, there's the potential.
here. And I'm not trying to hype up Robles as like, like I jokingly said last night,
like the Mariners have fixed Victor Robles. I don't know if there's anything to fix.
But he's been really solid for you. He's been a contributor for, for you. And now you really
don't have any excuses not to use him more frequently than you have. Lefty, right,
he doesn't really matter. Like, this is the, this is your best option right now. Unfortunately,
he's better than Hanager. He's, you know, better than Dylan Moore. And you want Dylan Moore to, you know, be,
you know, be able to play multiple positions anyways.
And so obviously,
Canzone's not around anymore.
And he's certainly better than Jonathan Klossay is right now.
So I don't get why you wouldn't use Robles more aggressively.
He doesn't have to play seven days a week.
But like this weekend in Anaheim,
I think they're definitely facing Tyler Anderson.
So I know they're getting at least one lefty.
He'll be in the lineup for that game.
But he should also be in the lineup for a couple of the games against the rights.
I would like to see him play three times this weekend.
Yep.
But, you know, do I think Seattle will do it?
I don't know, probably not.
They've been pretty hard-headed about writing the hot hand at times this year,
but I think Robles should play.
Like most of the playing time, that Canzone vacated by heading to the IL,
most of that should go to Robles.
And I'm not saying it has to be even more than 50%.
I'm saying that like if you're going to go 40, 40, 20 or whatever,
Robles should be one of the guys getting the 40% of those at-bats.
he should play over Hanager he should probably play over Dylan more most days and i mean look you know
he had 126 plate appearances last year um 36 games he slash 299 385 364 before he you know had to
unfortunately in the season due to a spinal injury so it's not that far fetch that he can't
hit at least a little bit so yeah maybe there's something there maybe again he's like the equivalent
of what you would be looking for out of you know the tommy
of the world.
Right.
And if there's not something there, you don't want to assume there is because he's playing
once a week in producing and then just not have an opportunity to fix that.
You want to play him so you can say, hey, look, do we need to go target a, you know,
right-handed hitting outfielder, platoon outfielder, fourth outfield type?
Or do we have that in-house?
Yeah.
You need to play him more.
He, like, you have 20 days before the deadline.
I think you have like 14 games before the deadline, something like that.
he should probably start at least half of those games if not more for sure all right so
gregory santos made his marriage debut last night did he and nearly joined team brawl and his first
batter faced as a mariner and it was in that moment that i immediately became a gregory santo stem
because you you know us don't you know no i'm not going to say that i'm not okay if if you saw me on
Twitter last night. You know what we're you know what Colby's talking about here. I'm not I'm not gonna say it
Gregory Stantos. All right, fine. I said it. I said it and we're moving on. We're moving on.
But it was in that moment though that I became a Gregory Santos stand because you guys know
both of us here on the lockdown Marrars podcast. We are hashtag team brawl and uh once a year. Yeah. And when
jerks and pro far and and Gregory Santos started John at each other and then I thought it was going to pop off for
sure when there was a playoff at first when there was a play up for space and pro far kind of
nudged santos and they started jawing at each other i thought for sure it was going to pop off
it was very surprised it didn't because it seemed like like there was there was something brewing there
but man what an electric start to uh to gregory santos's uh mayor's career so outside of that
what did you think about santos just from pure pitching standpoint does he look like uh the
guy that, you know, we were kind of dreaming on this off season?
I'd say as advertised, it's a really hard sinker.
It is a bowling ball sinker in 98 to, I don't think he dropped below 99 last night,
but typically it's 98 to 100.
He touched 101 a couple times last night.
And then the slider is going to kind of determine whether or not he is a, you know,
a big swing and miss guy or if he's just this, you know, ground ball, stay off the barrel type of guy.
because the slider is where he's going to generate whiffs if he does get them.
It's nothing against his two seamer.
It's just the two seamer in tip in general does not generate a ton of whiffs.
Just in principle.
It's not a swing and miss pitch.
It's designed to just move off the barrel,
which is what we saw last night.
We saw three ground balls from him.
So I think one of them was hard hit,
but whatever.
You know,
nothing in the air.
He only gave up two home runs all last year.
Like,
that's what Santos is supposed to be.
He comes in.
You know, you need a ground ball, fine, whatever.
There you go.
You put him in a clean inning.
You're up by two.
He's probably not going to walk a guy and then give up the home run.
Like, you know, Ryan Stanick is susceptible to, like Trent Thornton is susceptible to.
He's probably going to get some ground balls.
And, you know, every once in a while, will he leave something up and give up a double in the gap?
Sure.
But ground balls typically turn into outs, regardless of how hard they're hit.
And when they don't turn into outs, they typically turn into singles.
Yeah.
So that's as advertised.
It's just really hard to barrel him up and get the ball airwerew.
against Santos and that's what we saw last night.
So do I think he's going to sit 101
with that sinker most nights?
No, probably going to sit in 98, 99.
But yeah, to me, he had all five
of the game's top pitch velocities
last night when you look at the savant page.
He was pumped up. He was fired up.
He even gave a little attitude back to ProFar
when he dusted him with a second slider.
Like, what do you want me to do?
Dude, it's a slider.
The second one wasn't even really close to him.
And by the way, he also got squeezed on a couple.
pitches last night. That's one of my biggest pet fives in baseball, by the way, is when guys and teams
take exception to breaking balls running in close on hitters or actually hitting hitters.
Like, dude, it's a breaking ball or an off speed pitch. Like, they're not, they're not trying to
hit you. Dude, I mean, it's a five-run game, first of all. And the guy literally showed you he has
101 in his back pocket. You think he's trying to hit you with a slider? Right. No. It's so dumb. Obviously not.
So, you know, just frustrating night for ProFAR and the Padres.
So whatever.
Easy to write off that.
But no, it was basically as advertised.
Heavy sinker, he's going to get a ton of ground balls.
He's not going to give up, you know, a ton of fly balls and doubles.
Like, it's going to be very hard to get extra base hits against him.
And because of that sinker, he's always going to be one pitch away from getting out of pretty much any jam.
And, you know, for me, it really is going to come down to the slider.
or whether or not he like joins the Andres Munoz level is going to come down to whether or not he can start to get whiffs with the slider because he's probably not going to get him with the sinker because that's just the nature of the pitch.
It's not designed to get swinging misses.
So the slider will be the key.
He didn't have a very good feel for it last night.
So he just started chucking sinkers up there.
And you see it, man.
Like again, 99 to 101 with those bowling balls that he's thrown up to the plate.
Yeah.
It's good luck.
It's ridiculous.
He'll help.
As long as he's healthy, he is going to help this bullpen.
And we also heard that, you know, they might be willing to throw him back-to-back games as soon as, you know, next week after the All-Star break.
So they seem to be really happy with where he's at physically.
And again, he should help.
He is an arm that is better than Stanik, not as good as Munoz.
Now go out another one and you finally can start to put together a bullpen that is terrifying like you thought you were going to have at the beginning of the year.
And, you know, while we're at it, hats off to Austin both, who I believe has not surrendered a hit in his last six.
appearances.
Dude's been money.
Yeah.
Really, really underrated addition by the Marries this off season.
Awesome vote has been massive for them.
And he's kind of found his way into that like mid high leverage role, right?
Like that six-sitting guy, essentially.
We've seen him come in and like the seventh with a runner on second and two outs and
be that guy, kind of the fireman type of guy.
It's kind of the role that J.T. Chagua, he, he handled for.
J.T.
Chargua, Penn Murphy, those guys.
Yep.
Just kind of like, hey, let's get out of this inning without using our high leverage guy.
Let's get out of this.
And, you know, can you go four outs?
Sure.
If you need me to, I can go four outs.
But, you know, it's a really important role.
Scott uses it a lot.
It's a role that he really values.
And it appears, at least to me, that both is that guy, period, like full stop.
That is his role.
If anybody else comes into it, it's just probably because both isn't available that day.
Yeah.
And then Gabe Spire,
might be back after the All-Star break.
So that's even more good news for the Smyra's bullpen.
Cutstar's rehab assignment later this week.
Seems a bit aggressive to me.
But yeah, I would imagine before the end of July, at least, Spire is back, assuming no major
setbacks or anything like that.
Yeah, absolutely.
All right.
So that is going to do it for our show.
