So before we get into the bad of this game, and there was quite a bit of it.
Let's get into not necessarily the good of the game, but the decent of the game.
Hey, Josh Rojas and Luke Rayleigh had decent days at the plate.
You know, both of those guys have been really struggling as of late.
So it was nice to see those guys be able to contribute a little bit today.
Rayleigh went one for three, had a couple of hard hit balls.
So that's nice to see from him.
And then Rojas went two for five.
Obviously had the home run to essentially.
dead center. It was more like left center, but you get to just two hard hit balls on the day for him in
general. So that's nice. George Kirby, five in a third innings pitch to earn runs on seven hits.
Just two strikeouts, one walk on 95 pitches, five hard hit balls allowed. It was pretty cool the way
that he started the game. His first time pitching in Fenway Park since the passing of Tim Wakefield,
the legendary knuckleballer for the Red Sox. And of course, he threw a knuckleball. He threw a knuckle
ball in honor of him on his first pitch of the game. Of course,
George also threw a knuckleball on the day that Tim Wakefield passed against the Rangers
last year against Corey Seeger. So that was cool to see. But overall, not a great day for George.
Not a terrible day for George either. What did you make of that, Colby?
Yeah, he's just not missing bats. And that's a problem. And really,
none of the Mariners starters are missing a ton of bats right now. We're seeing a lot of, you know,
three, four, five strikeout nights from the Mariners rotation.
And their stuff is good enough that they should be racking up more strikeouts than that.
And the reason that's a problem is against the team like Boston in Boston.
Any ball put in play is a potential danger.
You can hit, you can give up a routine fly ball and it's a double.
Like it's just one of those ballparks where you have to find a way to miss bats consistently.
And George had six whiffs today total on everything, on 95 pitches, six whiffs,
percent whiff rate. That's not good enough against anybody, let alone the Red Sox. The Red Sox had 20 foul
balls in this one, 22 balls put in play, 17 called strikes, which is a good number, but obviously
the low whiff rate kind of knocks all that away. So just too many pitches were thrown in which
damage could have been done. Overall, you know, George was pretty solid. He only gave the five hard
hit balls in this one.
So overall, his command and control were good enough.
He was on the corners for most of it, but he just couldn't generate any swings and misses.
And that's an issue, as we know, when you can, you know, when George isn't generating
swings and misses, he tends to have long innings and long at-bats because he can get you
02, but he can't put you away.
And then we're just looking at, you know, a three-pitch at-bat becomes a four-pitch
at-bat, becomes an eight-pitch at-bat.
And next thing you know, he's got 25 pitches.
while he's facing his third hitter.
Like it's something that's happened in the past.
And we know that George isn't a guy who's typically going to perform as well after he hits about that 90 pitch mark.
It seems to be right around that mark where his command starts to fade a little bit.
And as we know, and as we've said, the stuff isn't incredible stuff.
It's good stuff that plays up because of elite command.
Well, when he doesn't have the elite command anymore, the stuff becomes even worse.
And it's very kind of average-ish type of stuff.
So, you know, George has to get through these innings quicker.
He's got to find a way to miss more bats.
Overall, he wasn't the problem today, but he was only able to go five in a third,
which, you know, obviously puts more strain on the Mariners bullpen,
which was down at least Garcia today.
Clearly, he wasn't available.
And then, obviously, you know, Munoz was up, and then he didn't pitch today.
So that's concerning.
I haven't heard an update about that.
And Santos ended up having to leave after only throwing nine pitches.
So Mariners rotation, they got to go deeper.
They have to go deeper.
You look at what they did in the series.
Castillo was the longest outing.
He went six innings.
And the only reason they pushed him for six is because they were up 10 to 3 at that point.
Otherwise, he would have just gone five.
So, you know, it was kind of a hit or miss day for George.
He was pretty good, but overall just not near good enough against this lineup to, you know,
to get deep in this game.
And that's kind of what you need out of Kirby.
It's a difficult lineup, particularly that top four.
They all crush right-handed pitching.
And the Mariners only have really right-handed pitching to throw at them.
So not the best matchup, obviously, that ballpark.
Boston is perfectly suited for it.
They're built to play there.
And it shows.
So, you know, George overall was pretty solid today.
I wouldn't say he was good.
Wouldn't say he was bad.
I think it was just kind of just an average performance from George.
And for the second time in this series, we saw a missed call by the home plate umpire come back to bite the Mariners.
George in the first inning through, which should have been a called strike three to end the inning against Masataka, Yeshita,
ends up walking him on that pitch, Devers, then doubles, and then George throws a wild pitch and a run scores off of that.
And there you go. You're down one nothing pretty early on in this game.
So that really hurt. I mean, it didn't unravel like it did for Logan Gilbert, but still that, you know, especially in this game,
where, you know, the mayor is lose by one run.
By the way, they've lost seven one run games in a row now,
which is very unmariners like.
You know, every run counts,
especially with this offense,
still trying to find its way,
still really struggling.
And obviously the offense is dealing with a lot of injuries at the moment as well.
We're going to talk about that a little later on.
But yeah,
so not,
not great there.
To kind of take a positive spin on this overall, though,
the mayors did go four and two,
on the road trip, so that's nice to see. Of course, they've
kind of righted the ship at least a little bit.
They're back in sole possession of first
place, at least for now. We'll see what happens
in the Astros Pirates game tonight.
Ashros could retie the Mariners.
Those two teams are going to continue to
jockey for position in first place
for the L.S. I assume for the rest of the season.
I don't foresee that changing at all over
the next couple of months.
So, yeah, but
also want to quickly give a shout out to Colin
Snyder, right? Colin Snyder
was awesome today. He got into a
little bit of a jam there in the ninth inning, but was able to bounce back and strike out
Tyler O'Neill and a really big at bat.
That was huge.
Awesome both also had a really nice outing after, you know, the last few times that he's been
out there for the most part has really struggled.
So nice to see him bounce back a little bit.
He had a strikeout today just through seven pitches.
So good stuff.
Overall from from the bullpen, Taylor Saucato really struggled again out of the bullpen today.
He's having a hard time finding the strike zone as of late.
but it was able to get out of it.
Scott free because of a weird double play in which
Tyler O'Neill interfered with Justin Turner
trying to catch a pop-up from Raphael Devers.
But yeah, but overall, you know,
the bullpen didn't give up a run until, you know, the 10th inning.
So solid day for the bullpen overall.
But Snyder really the noteworthy name there out of that group.
All right.
So let's talk about kind of the worst part about this game, which was, I mean, overall, yeah, the offense wasn't able to get the job done when it really mattered.
But Mitch Garver was the biggest part of those struggles for sure.
And we're at the point now where it's like, all right, what do you do with Mitch Garber?
Because we know that they're not going to cut him.
He's making money.
He's guaranteed $12 million next year.
They're not going to cut him.
They're not going to DFA him.
So what do you do with him?
We're going to go over that in just a moment.

The Mariners are off tomorrow, but they're back at it on Friday at home against the Philadelphia Phillies.
all the action on the Barron's hometown broadcast with SiriusXM via the SXM app.
All you have to do to find that is search the word Mariners.
So rough day at the office for one, Mr. Mitch Garver.
He went 0 for 5.
I believe he left eight men on base today.
A couple of strikeouts.
He obviously generated the final out of the day for the Barroners with the bases loaded
and the top of the 10th.
The ground out shortstop was actually a hard hit ball.
but yeah,
went right to the shortstop
for the final out.
Was harder hit and had a higher expected
batting average than Devers walk off single.
Go figure.
Sure, sure.
Of course.
But yeah, Garver was pitiful today,
especially those two at-bats
that resulted in strikeouts,
the one where he just swung through
three consecutive sliders,
just waved at the first one he saw.
It was just all arms and that swing.
It was pitiful.
watch. So what do you do? I mean, today he was catching, right? You need to give Cal a blow.
Cal catches a lot. You know, he's obviously been playing through pain and, and all that. We know
the deal with Cal, but Garver is a black hole in the lineup right now. He had a good game in
Chicago on this road trip. That's about it. And it's very few and far between that I can find
the silver linings with with Mitch Garver right now.
It's been really good against lefties, which is going to be part of our discussion here.
But in general, like moving forward, even before, you know, Julio gets back and JP eventually
gets back and this lineup is hopefully pretty much at what we would consider full strength.
You got to do something with this guy, right?
Yeah, I think you're already seeing it, though.
I think the thing you do with Garber is pretty.
clear. He's the true backup catcher.
Like, nobody's disputed that. And
he's fine enough defensively to catch
on the day that Cal needs a break.
It's totally fine.
That's something he can do. It's within his wheelhouse.
And he can still hit lefties. Okay.
Pretty good against lefties. So
there's also going to be some cases
where him coming to the plate
might make sense because this
isn't a situation where you need
base runners. You need like a home run.
Like you need something to go over the wall.
You need damage here. And there's an opportunity
or there's a possibility that Garver's your best chance to deliver that.
So that's kind of the role you're looking for here.
And you're looking against, you know, probably the, probably the DH against lefties.
No questions about it.
And then he'll obviously get some at-bats against Ritey's just from staying in the game as the DH a couple of times when they change pitchers and catching once a week, probably, give or take.
Catching once a week will also give them some at-bats because that one you can't, I mean, you can kind of maneuver.
it, right, where you'd be like, well, there's a lefty on the mount, so let's have him catch tonight.
And then that way we can give Cal a day off or whatever.
And so you can kind of maneuver it that way.
But for the most part, you know, he's going to beat the DH when there's a lefty on the mound.
And then he'll probably catch, I would say, an average of one game a week.
Now we'll see because the Mariners, they do this interesting thing where they have an off day tomorrow and then they have an off day on Monday.
So in theory, you would think, well, he'll probably catch on Sunday because it's a day game after a night game.
maybe not because they have that extra day off on Monday
and now they've given Cal two days off of catching
even though he was the DH today.
So we'll see what they do going forward
but I think the solution here is pretty clear.
The Mitches need to share DH.
Hanager gets the abats against Ritey's.
He's been pretty good against Ritey's somewhat surprisingly.
Garber gets the at bats against lefties.
He's been pretty good against lefties somewhat surprisingly.
And then Garber just gets,
you know, the rest of his at bats just come from
when he's a backup catcher and you just kind of have to,
you know,
you just kind of have to grit your teeth and hope that maybe he gives you something that day
because you cannot have Cal Raleigh catch the last,
what, 50 games or however many games are left this season.
You have to give him a couple days off here down the stretch.
So, yeah, I mean, Garber's probably going to catch 10, 15 more times the rest of this way.
And then the rest of his at bat should come pretty much exclusively
against left-handed pitching.
Yeah, so let's go over the numbers here.
So Garver against Ritey's this year, and this is before today, of course, 145, 266, 290.
That's a 66 WRC plus.
But against lefties, 235, 347, 471, that's a 134 WRC plus.
Then Mitch Hanager, on the other hand, against lefties, he's historically been really good against lefties, but not this year, not at all.
135, 210, 146.
it's a WRC plus of nine folks
no I'm not missing another number it's it's nine
that's what is WRC plus is against Mitch Garber
look like Yordon Alvarez against Rides
he's essentially it's essentially the same thing that happened to
AJ Pollock last year where it's like yeah this guy is
historically really good against lefties
and now he's just completely falling off a cliff against lefties
I don't get it
there isn't really a rhyme or reason to it
it's just this is the reality of the situation now but Mitch Hanneger that is against
uh righties this year 240 330 429 that's a 119 WRC plus that is more than respectable
for Mitch Hanager so uh the interesting thing though there is that the uh the mariners
have primarily used him against lefties
it's like they're ignoring the numbers or they're not aware of the numbers they're not aware of what the
the splits are this year it's like they're still trying to bank on what he's done historically what
he's done over the course of his career rather than what he's doing right now he has hit against
some righties he has started against some righties but they're also putting him in pretty much
every time they face a lefty it's really really weird but yeah clifference
Literally like Garver and Hanager essentially have to platoon.
Right.
At the DH spot.
And like at some point,
or Garver is just going to have to face a Ritey.
Like at some point that's going to happen because either he has to catch that day or,
you know,
he started the game against the lefty at D.H.
And now there's a Riding on the mound.
And it's like,
well,
he's our only catcher,
at least until September.
You can't have,
you don't have the luxury of a third catcher.
Now when you get to September,
uh,
you might have a third catcher.
that might be your extra bench player that you bring up.
If that's the case, then you can take out Garber against all Ritees, essentially,
because you have this backup plan.
Maybe it's Savala.
Maybe it's somebody else.
It has to be Swala.
But yeah, so I think, you know, you just kind of have to try and triage this a little bit.
There is a path here where the Mitches are just the DH, and it's righties get Hanuker,
lefties get Garber, and you just kind of play the match up there.
And that becomes a lot easier when if Julio Rodriguez comes back,
because then you have your three out,
you really have four outfielders at that point ahead of Hanager,
assuming that Victor Robles can, you know,
get back in the lineup and play on a fairly regular basis.
That's going to be a load management, a pain management type of thing.
So there might be days where he's just not available like today.
But it's just something you have to deal with.
And when Hanager gets, or when Julio gets back,
you can go Randy, Julio, Rayleigh, Robles, and Wright, they can kind of share that duty.
And then also Dylan Moore eventually when JAP comes back, we'll also be able to throw into that mix.
So, yeah, I do think that the Hanager, the Hanager Garver, DH plan is really simple.
And it's right in front of you.
It's just, yeah, if you stick to it, if you're strict with that, there's a path to
having a pretty decent player there.
If you,
if like you look at it,
like,
like you said,
Garver's got like a 130
against lefties.
Hanegers.
134.
Yeah.
So like,
if you get 110 out of your
DH spot from the rest of the year,
splitting the duties between these two guys,
that's a bonus.
That's a plus.
Like that is an above average bat,
which yeah,
we just need as many of those in your lineup as you can get.
So,
uh,
the Mitches complement each other pretty well here,
at least based on what they've done so far.
Will they continue to do to do that down the
stretch. I don't know. I mean, I guess we'll have to wait and see, but that's really your only
option is for them to share that DH job. Yeah. And honestly, like, before you let Garver face another
righty, I'd honestly rather give those DH abouts to freaking Leo Rivas and Jason Vossler at this
point. Like, Garver just looks so lost right now, especially when he sees anything with spin
from the right side. I have no interest in watching him hit against another.
Ritey. They're still going to do it.
Let's be real about it. They're still going to do it.
I'm just saying, like, me personally, I have no interest watching them do that.
Right. They're pretty much out of excuses now, but those excuses go away entirely when
Julio returns.
Yeah.
Because now against Ritey's Raleigh or Robles are better bets to get a hit against Ariti.
So one of them can D.H. And hey, you know, Robles has this hip issue thing going on.
Having D.H days, probably not going to be a bad thing.
Yeah, yeah.
And you'll still be in a decent spot defensively with Rayleigh, Randy, and Julio.
It's not the ideal trio of outfielders defensively.
You'd rather have Robles out there.
But yeah, if you need to manage this injury with him,
then that's probably the best way to go about it.
And that's what we're going to talk about now.
The injuries continue to pile up for the mayor.
It's not just rubless.
It's also Gregory Santos.
It's also Horri Polanco.
We'll go over all of that in just a moment.

and you're listening to the locked on
Marrars postgame show once again
you can catch the Mariners and the Phillies this weekend
on the Marriss Homestown broadcast
with SiriusXM via the SXM app
all you have to do to find that is search
the word Mariners
so injuries continue to pile up
for the Marrers
today Gregory Santos had to leave
his outing prematurely once again
for the second time
over the last
10 days, 9 days
when was the Angel series
was about eight or nine days ago
that he had to leave that game
this time wasn't a knee issue
like it was the last time he had to leave
this time it's a bicep issue
which is interesting because when they came out to check him
on the mountain he didn't really signal
anything towards his arm or his bicep
seemed more like he was dealing with like a back issue
or maybe he was sick or something that's what I was thinking
but yeah it turns out to be a
a bicep and he's going to have an MRI tomorrow.
So we'll find out more probably on Friday once they're back at the ballpark and
Scott Service talks to the media.
So we probably won't have an answer on that for a little while.
I assume J.T. Chagua is probably going to become a little bit more important here, though,
for the Mariners.
If something's going on with Santos.
Then Victor Rubles, of course, didn't play today.
He was unavailable.
That's why you didn't see him pinch his.
for Mitch Garver in the 10th inning
or pinch hit in general over the course of the day.
He's been dealing with a hip issue.
And Scott Service today said that that's going to be something
that he's just going to have to manage.
It seems it doesn't seem like that's going to be something
that he's going to get the day off today.
They're going to have the off day tomorrow.
And then he's going to be fine and it's going to go away by Friday.
So that's something that he might have to deal with here
for the next couple weeks.
It might be something that he has to deal with for the entire rest of the season.
We'll have to see.
I mean, yesterday he was dealing with it during the game.
I mean, he looked pretty slow getting down the first baseline,
but he also made that leaping catch in center field.
So who knows?
Maybe it just kind of comes and goes for him.
He's got to pick his spots a little bit.
Yeah, yeah.
So we'll see.
And we'll see.
And I didn't think we would ever say this.
We'd ever get to the point of saying this.
But Victor Robles is a huge piece of this thing for the mirrors right now.
So losing him for any sort of extended.
period of time would be a massive blow right now go back to june 31 yeah and tell that person like hey
victor robles is going to like tweak a hip and you're going to be convinced the season is over because
he's your best hitter see how likely they are to believe you yeah uh but yeah and then uh harry polanka's
been dealing with nithing that's not new he was uh pulled early from at least one game the one in
Chicago. Did he get pulled from another game since then?
I feel like you got pulled yesterday or
maybe Friday night. Yeah, I can't remember. But he was
pulled late in this game as well.
That's just something that he's managing. I'm not sure of
like something else cropped up here. If it got worse
because it was a tied game. Because like in the other
at least one instance that I know for sure he was pulled. Like that game was
already well in hand for the merits. Yeah. This time this is a
tie ball game in which like his turn in the lineup
wound up coming up again
and right yeah
but it still came up again
in the 10th inning
um
and uh you know like I could kind of see it as maybe like
all right let's get them out of the game let's put him
Rivas who's a better defender
fine right
but again tie ball game I don't know
it's a little little weird considering that polo
has been one of your better hitters here over the last couple weeks
uh so yeah
things are not great
on the injury front for the merrers right now,
which is another reason that it was hoping they would get that,
you know,
an extra third bat at the deadline,
but nothing we can do about it now.
Just hopefully none of these injuries are that serious.
Yeah, I think like, by the way,
just isn't even mentioning Andres Munoz,
who was warming up in the bottom of the eighth to pitch the ninth,
and then they went to Snyder,
and Snyder did his job,
and he got out of it,
And then when the 10th inning rolled around, it was Diaz and it was Thornton.
Do you think maybe that was just like it's a safe situation or nothing for Munoz today?
Like that's the only way he's available.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I guess.
But like at that point, so basically what you're saying is when you don't throw him in the night, like he's just down for the rest of the day.
And now we've burned our best option.
Like I don't either the point in that.
And by the way, in the 10th inning, the lead off hitter is Raphael freaking Devers.
like that's when you use Munoz obviously Garcia was down today that's very clear he's pitched three
of the last four it's also a little weird because you have the day off tomorrow as well right um and that
that was kind of the weird thing with Garcia not being available today yeah he's pitched three of the last
four but he's thrown like a total of 30 pitches yeah but he's coming off of an elbow issue or forearm
sure so they want to keep him down today fine whatever except that yeah Munoz warming up getting hot
and being like ready to go only to never appear
here in this game, that's a red flag for me.
And as far as I can tell, nobody's asked about a post game.
So maybe that was just a situation where it was like, you know, he's only going to pitch
with the lead.
Otherwise, we're not going to use them today.
I don't like that.
I don't like that at all.
But, you know, it's one of those things where whatever.
They're still trying to play the long game.
And I get it.
Munoz has back things.
So maybe the back just flared up.
And there's like, you know what?
Let's not push it.
Yeah, that's kind of my thought is just like we're not going to push them unless we,
we have a chance to win this game. Sure. But can somebody ask the question is all I'm asking.
Because it appears nobody asked why Munoz wasn't in this game. I haven't seen a quote about it.
I haven't seen a tweet about it, nothing. By the way, not using Munoz or just how they,
how they handle the bullpen situation there in the 10th. That's not why they lost. They lost because
they didn't score on the top of the 10th. That's why they lost. Yeah. You need to score multiple runs if
you're the away team. I see people, I see people blaming Scott and his bullpen usage and not walking to
whatever you you lost that game when you didn't score on the top of the church you still should have
walked evers but whatever like you lost that game a couple times before that moment um if anything
if you're going to get on scott or anything how about uh you know not pulling kirby at 93 94
pitches when the guy gets on first base when you're up by one now kind of makes sense because you
didn't have garcia today you knew that yeah and so it's like okay well how much do i really have
Keep in mind, Gilbert only went three innings in that first game.
And keep in mind, your middle guys were bad yesterday,
so you had to use your high leverage guys in a game that you once led 10 to 3.
So all these things kind of come back and they factor in.
So when a starting pitcher only goes three innings in the first game of the series,
and you go, well, whatever, no.
Like, it comes back to bite you later on in the series.
It can.
And it looks like it did today.
You know, we've seen Scott, like, do this before where, like,
you'll throw a pitcher who's near the end of the line back out there.
And the idea most people have is like, oh, he gets until a guy reaches.
And then you go to the bullpen.
And Scott just kind of, you know, no, we're just going to keep him out there, keep him out there.
So like if you're going to blame him for anything today, that's the one.
But even that, it's like, okay, well, they don't have Garcia.
Like, they really should try and they probably need to get.
It's like, do you really trust Taylor Soussato right now?
Do you really trust awesome both right now?
No, I mean, you don't trust Trent Thornton either.
You shouldn't.
So, I mean, all of those guys have really struggled as of late.
Now, of course, like I mentioned earlier on in the show, like both had a, had a nice outing today, which is really good to see.
That's really encouraging to see.
You know, Snyder was obviously excellent out of the bullpen outside of the, you know, the couple of hits that he gave up.
But he was able to work out of that.
sauce is uh he's pitching himself out of a job right now i believe he has an option left and the
mayors might take it he threw 16 pitches today five strikes yeah the problem is though he's the
only lefty they have don't they've already said he's not he's not getting out lefties i know i know i know he's not
you know you know who can't get out lefties jimmy garcia andres minos yeah Colin Snyder like yeah
Yeah, I'd rather go and get a guy who can get out lefties than somebody who theoretically should be able to get out lefties.
Actually, I forgot Jonathan Diaz is here.
So, I mean, whatever.
Okay.
Yeah.
Like he's present.
I was just saying, you know, that was wrong to say that they only have one lefty.
They have two technically.
Right.
So, you know, it's going to be an interesting couple days here to see how they manage this.
They'll have to get an MRI on Santos when they get back.
there's a possible IL stent
Robles could hit
could hit the IL it seems like they're going to really try
and manage that one
Polanco obviously keeps getting pulled out of these
games with his knee issue but he's hitting
right now so there could be some new
faces you know coming in pretty quick
Did shock God get added today?
Did I miss that?
I don't think he did no
okay so I mean yeah probably meeting the club
in Seattle that could be
Saucato there the corresponding
Santos or Diaz or yes Santos so it'd probably be Diaz but yeah uh I I'm 95% sure that
shirkwall did not get at it I didn't see the release or anything like yeah I didn't either so that's
why I asked right so chargwa was probably the guy they add to the pen when they get back uh regardless
of if Santos needs the IL or not and then they might need another one uh and I think either today
or sorry tomorrow or Friday we'll do a segment or maybe an episode of like five
guys like in the Mariners system right now who aren't on the 26 man who could help
the Mariners down the stretch here and there's a few arms on that list so yeah but yeah the
mariners are banged up right now we still don't have any idea when you're going to get
Julio back he is eligible to be activated on Friday that is the first day he's eligible
doesn't sound like that's he did tell Randy a Rosarena that he expects to be back on the
homestown right so that's a nine game homestine so that could be this Friday that could be next Sunday right
And so, yeah, but he is eligible to be activated on Friday.
We'll see.
Maybe they activate him and he just has to DH for a couple days.
You know, like, so we'll see what version of Julio you get when he does get back,
but you might be able to activate him on Friday.
But hopefully Robles is in the lineup on Friday and you can meet him against Philly.
Now, the good news is you're catching Philly at a pretty good time.
They just got swept by the Yankees.
And you're facing four, five, and one.
So you do have to face Wheeler on Sunday.
You're countering with Logan Gilbert.
Pretty good.
But you're countering their four and five with Bryce Miller and Brian Wu.
So you're not countering them with like Castile Kirby.
Miller and Wu are better than the two scrubs they're throwing out there.
So, you know, you're catching them at a pretty good time.
Obviously, that doesn't matter.
The marriage are playing really poor baseball overall for the last month or so.
We know that pretty much any pitcher, any starting pitcher or any pitcher or any pitcher in general can just shut them
down for six seven innings regardless of we're talking about colby allard and like tony
phillips like now it does that does feel a little bit different now with like randy and turner who've
been solid since they've they've a couple hits today yeah had a bad strike out where not there
nobody out uh had a pop up randy had a pop up with a runner on third and one out didn't hit it deep
enough to score run so well those guys you know didn't do much today but they've been good since
their uh arrival so yeah obviously it does feel like
There's some floor to the offense now.
All right.
So I'm putting this here because we actually already talked about this.
Colby and I in this recording,
but it's kind of glitchy.
And I didn't want to just cut it because this does need to be set.
This does need to be put out there.
This does need to be acknowledged.
Now,
I'm going to have to clean this up a little bit.
But Mitch Garver after the game was very candid speaking to the media.
He said, quote,
this is probably the hardest I've ever had to grind.
This is by far the worst I've ever played in my career.
tough on myself and my family with the death threats, the quote unquote retire and quote
unquote you suck and quote unquote effing unalive yourself and all that stuff.
It's getting old.
The only way I change it is if I play better, but it's like continuing right now.
I've already accepted the fact that I'm not going to hit above 200 this year and I don't
know.
It might not get better.
Who knows?
Maybe it just gets worse.
I don't know.
But I show up to the field every day, prepared to play.
prepared to get better and work hard and control what I can control.
And the people out there that say certain things, they say whatever they want.
I think I bring a lot to this team.
I've never quit anything.
Certainly not going to quit this.
They're going to have to rip the jersey off my back.
That's fine.
That's an easy way out.
I could happily retire right now, go home and live a great life with my family.
But that's not what I want to do.
I made a two-year commitment to this team.
They believe in me.
My teammates believe in me.
So it's a matter of just making it click.
And when it does, good things will happen.
So look, I'm as disappointed about Mitch Garbage struggles as anyone.
As we just talked about earlier on in the show,
he is more than deserving of criticism for what he is doing
or rather not doing on the field right now.
That said, there is no place, no justification whatsoever
to be sending him or anyone death threats.
Okay. There's no place for that in our community whatsoever. And I hope that no one within the locked on marriage community has participated in that. And if you have, go away. We don't want you here. All right. Stop listening to our show. Unsubscribe. Do whatever you feel you need to do. yell at us in the comments. Don't care. Go away. Bye bye. All right. Because there is no place for that whatsoever. That is garbage. Seek help.
So that's going to do it for our show.
