Starting point is 00:00:00 Today we celebrate 10 years of the Locked-on Podcast Network by looking at her 10 favorite moments from her time hosting Locked-on Mariners. Colby, hit it. You are Locked-on Mariners. Your daily Seattle Mariners podcast. Part of the Locked-on Podcast Network, your team every day. Ahoy, Sailors, and it is Tuesday, June 16th, 2026. My name is Taddy Gazzal. And I'm joined as always by my co-coes Colby Patnode.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Today we're celebrating 10 years of the Lockdown Podcast Network. Now, of course, Colby and I haven't been here for the entirety of those 10 years. However, in August, it will be five years. And over that time, we have covered a lot of big games and big moments with this Marinus Ball Club and also had some really cool guests on as well. So in honor of Lockdown's 10th birthday, we're going to go down memory lane a little bit and give you our top 10 favorite moments slash episodes of this show, including clips. And some of these are from the early days of this show when we didn't have nearly as many people watching. and listening to us as we do now. So for a lot of you,
Starting point is 00:01:09 this might be your first look at how things used to be around these parts. So get ready for some poorly mixed audio, some bad quality cameras, and even worse camera angles and lighting. But if you're listening on a podcast platform, then you don't have to worry about any of that. Now, we don't have these necessarily ranked from best to worst. We just have 10 moments we're going to go over,
Starting point is 00:01:34 but I think a good thing. good place for us to start is where the show really took off with the trade that colby you and i both considered to be the end the official end of the mariner's rebuild and a moment that also showed all of our listeners at the time at least your 80 grade fastball how much does this hurt the mariners farm system colby because i you know i've been seeing it on twitter already this reaction the mariners have gutted their farm system to get louise castillo Is that true at all? It's not true.
Starting point is 00:02:08 And also, who cares? What are, what, what, what are you complaining about? The Mariners farm system took a little bit of a hit. Who cares? You don't watch the Modesto nuts. You watch the Seattle Mariners. Do you want the Mariners to win or do you want the Modesto nuts to have the triple crown winner of the low A league? who cares about the farm system?
Starting point is 00:02:28 This is why you build a farm system. Is it not? To help you win at the major league level. Why do you care of the Modesto nuts suck now? why do you care of the Everett Aqua Sox need a new shortstop? It does not matter. Luis Castillo is a Seattle Mariner. End of story.
Starting point is 00:02:43 That's the part that matters. Stop telling me how much the Mariners gave up to get Luis Castillo. I do not care and neither should you. It is stupid. You got Luis Castillo. You got Luis Castillo. It is a mariner. For a fan base that has not made the playoffs in 20 years to sit here after decade and decade of saying,
Starting point is 00:03:04 oh, the Mariners never do this type of thing. The Mariners are so cheap. Oh, the Mariners always go halfway. They go get Krista Norphia. They go get Austin Jackson. They didn't get David Price. And then they go out and they get David Price. They pay the freight to do it.
Starting point is 00:03:16 And you're saying, oh, well, now how are they going to get Juan Soto? They were never going to get Juan Soto. What are you talking about? What is your deal? Do you want to win at the Major League level or do you want to have a great farm system? Oh, a farm system? Fine. Definitely not top five anymore.
Starting point is 00:03:31 But who cares? When is the last time to St. Cardinals had a top five farm system. Wouldn't you rather be the Cardinals? What's wrong with being the Cardinals? They win 90 games. They go to the playoffs every single year. They won a couple World Series.
Starting point is 00:03:45 When's the last time they had a top 10 farm system? Never. Because they don't care. They leverage it. They use it to go get big leaguers like Nolan Aeronado and Paul Goldschmidt. It does not matter how good or bad the Mariners minor league system is. And by the way, it's still fine. You're going to add Felon and Celestine to it.
Starting point is 00:04:01 He's going to be your new number one prospect anyways. you just added Cole Young. Those two guys can actually play shortstop. Novi-Marte cannot. So stop with this. Oh, they gave up two young shorts. No, they did not. They gave up one young shortstop,
Starting point is 00:04:12 who I think is going to hit probably 260, 15 home run power. Good defender, good arm. He's a good player. He is not Julio Rodriguez. Stop it. He is not that caliber. He's not even the caliber of prospect as Jared Kelnick. Stop it.
Starting point is 00:04:25 He is a good prospect. Novi-Marte is a good prospect. I think both will be good major leaguers. Neither one of them are superstars. you did not just leverage the future Julio Rodriguez for a year and two months of Luis Castillo. Stop it. Yeah, what can I say?
Starting point is 00:04:42 I'm good. Well, of course, the Castillo trade helped lead to the Mariners ending their playoff droughts. And you were at the ballpark that night that Cal Raleigh hit the rainmaker, so we weren't able to record until the next day. But here's a clip from that episode.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Things worked out perfectly. They worked out exactly how we wanted them to. The Orioles win against the Yankees, and it's all up to the Mariners to win this game. And of course, they couldn't blow out the A's, you know, 8-0-0, couldn't have, you know, blown about 10-0, whatever. Had to be a 1-1 game and the bottom of the ninth. And at that moment, I'm thinking, all right, Mitch is going to do it. Okay, Mitch doesn't do it.
Starting point is 00:05:29 All right. Carlos Santana, this guy who's been to the playoffs before. he's had some big home runs of the past he's going to end it. Nope, not Carlos Santana. Well, Raulie. Off the bitch. Off the bitch.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Pinch heading for Luis Torens and on a three two count after sitting fastball for most of the at bat gets a slider down and out of the zone and drives it all the way off the windows of the hit it here cafe to end the dream.
Starting point is 00:06:03 route with an exclamation point, 15 exclamation points. What was going through your head when you saw that? I didn't have the distance, but my angle was kind of, because I was sitting, I was in row 16 by the Mariners dugout, right by the entrance of the Mariners dugout. So my angle down the left field line was immaculate. My angle down the right field line was non-existent. So I knew he hit it hard enough and far enough. I was just worried it was going to hook foul.
Starting point is 00:06:31 And I think, you know, part of that is still a little bit of the, the old Mariners mentality, like, oh, of course, this is going to hook out because that's what, that's what things happen in Seattle. But then, you know, it bangs off the hit-of-hear cafe. And, you know, you're hyped when he hits it because you're like, oh, please, please, please. And then once you see that, it's fair, you just kind of, you know, black out almost, you erupt, and you finally let yourself believe that, you know, it's over. It's done. And, you know, it's just funny. I'm sitting there. I'm trying to watch the game early in the early innings, but I'm also watching Baltimore, New York on my phone.
Starting point is 00:07:07 And, you know, New York's got the run, the, you know, tying run on second. And Aaron judges up in the eighth. And I'm just sitting there like, I mean, come on, come on. Like, because I did really want to that moment. But I, for the entire game, I couldn't get my shoulders to relax. Like, I was just, like, so, like, bound up. You know, and it threw it all, through it all. And, you know, just trying to soak it all in.
Starting point is 00:07:32 and, you know, appreciate it. It didn't even end the way I thought it would. Like I was highly anticipating, you know, Seattle being up like two to one in the ninth and CWald's out there. And you're kind of the traditional way you clinch. But of course, not this team. No, they. No, not this team. No.
Starting point is 00:07:50 No, they can't clench the normal way. You know, they have to walk it off, you know, with a mammoth home run. I think the funniest thing about that clip is the surprise of my voice. talking about Cal Raleigh hitting a clutch home run. Yeah. I mean, some of us knew he was destined for greatness and some of us were doubters,
Starting point is 00:08:13 even as late as, you know, the walk off in 2022. So, you know, some of us were, uh, were born for this,
Starting point is 00:08:21 others try and find skill along the way. And I'll let you know when you get there, Ty. All right. We'll go over more clips in just a moment. But first a reminder, this episode of the Locktime Airs podcast is brought to you by Cashap and indeed.

That's supercast.com to learn more. Now, the other thing that stood out to me from that last clip that we watched, the static coming through on my microphone, there was always something back then. There was always some sort of technical issue, whether it would be static coming through on my mic or one of us,
Starting point is 00:11:28 our mic would be lower than the other, or lighting would be off, or there would be a, a camera glitch. Nowadays, for the most part, it's just stream yard resetting on us, which it's done a billion times. Also, lag, which led to us ending the first portion of this recording session as well. So yeah, the technical issues are still very much present here on the lockdown merit's podcast. Thankfully, though, you guys don't see like 99% of the technical issues nowadays. Now, of course, leading up to the drought being ended, we asked you, guys what ending the drought would mean to you and we got i believe 45 submissions which back then when we only had a couple thousand subscribers was uh was huge right that was that was big so that was really
Starting point is 00:12:18 cool and that was one of you know many community projects that we've done here on this show i also want to give a shout out just as as part of this uh to our feeding america fundraisers that we've done as well where we've raised over 30,000 dollars combined over those two fundraisers and I just again just want to thank you guys so much if you donated it in any way or even if you just subscribed which of course
Starting point is 00:12:43 also counted as a donation from us we might have to do one of those again here pretty soon so maybe keep an eye out for that but yeah the what any in the drought would mean to you that project was
Starting point is 00:12:58 really special in it and another one of the genius ideas from one Mr. Colby Pat node. Yeah. I mean, you seem kind of surprised that I had a good idea, but let's make one thing very clear. I am the brains of this operation. Ty is the secretary who, you know,
Starting point is 00:13:21 keeps the trains on the track and does the ads and all that. Make sure we get paid and yada, yada, but like the star of the show is this guy. And I know somebody who disagree. I know somebody who 100% agrees. actually. Oh, okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Would you like me to play that clip now? I would because I think that is an A plus segue. Yes, I have listened to the show. And I actually didn't know what either of you guys look like. So now I know. And I did a post that I actually posted right after I listened to this podcast. And I'm going to read it to you. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:57 It's on Blue Sky. The ideal two-person podcast has one fairly upbeat normie, usually the host and one grump who loves to complain unbeatable formula yeah people reposted they were like this is like my show no it's not your show it was specifically i would posted it right after listening to the lockdown meritor's podcast unbeatable formula that's called you a grump guy take that's right that's right that's right you're the you're the umpy normie that's right totally just say it's it's you can't have too much positivity you can't have too much positivity you can't have too much negativity. You need the yin. You need the yang. It's every great show.
Starting point is 00:14:36 That, of course, would be the voice of ESPN's Mina Kimes, who, uh, big fan of the dynamic between Colby and I, unlike some of you. Colby. Read and we like more. Nina or troll on the internet. Oh, man, that's a toughie. Celebrity Jeopardy Champion or
Starting point is 00:15:01 Bob 867 3298428 who thinks that the Mariners use their free agent money on hot dogs from heaven Oh boy that's toughy We both value you guys the same Okay Yeah so yeah Mina team Colby confirmed And I mean really
Starting point is 00:15:25 TIE doesn't have anybody who can compete with that He thinks Aaron can compete with that? No. Most people don't know who Aaron is. Everybody knows who Mina Kimes is. I'm sensing some bitterness towards one Mr. Aaron Goldsmith. That's no,
Starting point is 00:15:39 no. I mean, I don't even know who we're talking about, honestly. I think I might know why you might be a little bitter. You know, speaking of collecting things, Colby right now is in the midst of putting together a collection of,
Starting point is 00:15:53 well, it's going to be hard for him to find all autograph cards, but he's trying to get cards of every single Jerry DePoto acquisition. Yeah. So right now he's looking for Justin DeFratus, if you're wondering. The first thing I thought of is what are the most obscure guys here, obviously. We were talking about this right before you hopped in. Coley, did you say that you got a Jonathan Arrow?
Starting point is 00:16:22 I found a Jonathan Arrow card, not autographed, unfortunately. Now, are these players on either side of the acquisition or only the receiving end? Just the players that he has acquired. I might go back later and do the players he's traded away or, you know, but, yeah, I got to start somewhere. When I said my, the latest bookmark that I've added to my Mariners folder or tab folder, I guess it's a folder. Jordan Schusterman of Cespittus Barbecue, right, big Mariners guy? Are you good? Oh, yeah, I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Are you aware that he keeps a spreadsheet of Jerry trades? Yes. Okay. So just the other day, I bookmarked it because I'm like, I'm going to want this at some point. And so I just pulled it up. Do you have, I'm going to start more, I'm going to start like low hanging fruit, but names that aren't completely buried. Sure. Do you have a James Pazos autograph?
Starting point is 00:17:21 Not yet. Not yet. Cole, you're working from the beginning, right? Like, you're starting from the beginning order. Yeah. Yeah, so I'm back filling a lot of this. It just started it recently. So are you saying like you're,
Starting point is 00:17:34 are you actually attacking this in chronological order? Is that what you're saying? It's not what I, it's just easier to just kind of follow it chronologically than try and remember like all the. So I just listed out and checkmark, check mark, check mark and all that stuff. So, um, yeah, it's, you know what would actually be a slow process. A pretty fun autograph would be a Pat Vendetti autograph. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:17:58 Right? I forgot he was a mariner, yeah. Yeah, that's a fun story for obvious reasons. Well, Godspeed on that. Yeah, thanks. Honestly, I can't think of a more worthless journey to take. Yeah. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:18:15 But I credit you for your ambition. Zagulbi, how's that worthless journey going? Pretty good because, bam, Justin Turner, bam, Jose Caviero, bam. This is Brendan White. We signed a minorly contract this winter. So boom, yeah. I'd say it's about 80% done. So, and then obviously, you know, you got to add on when Jerry makes more moves,
Starting point is 00:18:45 which he hasn't done in a while. But since that interview, I've also added the Jerry Depoto era draft binder. Every draft pick he makes. It's really more of a Scott Hunter binder, but whatever. Sure. Every draft pick he makes who gets to the big leagues has a card in that binder. Very happy to add Colt Emerson a few weeks ago. And thankfully, I bought that card well in advance,
Starting point is 00:19:07 assuming he would be a major leagueer one day because, yeah, the prices, same with the Cali-Rolly card, honestly. The prices, they jumped. But, you know, Aaron collects baseballs from the 500 home run club. Like, I'm sorry, not all of us have that deep of pockets. Okay. So I need updates on some of the cards On some of the cards that were mentioned there
Starting point is 00:19:30 Did you finally get a Justin DeFratus? Yep Did you get a James Pazos? Yep. Did you get a Pat Vendetti? I believe I did. I don't know if it's autographed or not though. I didn't bring the binder with me.
Starting point is 00:19:45 Probably should have. But yeah, I'm pretty sure I did. I think I'm pretty much filled all the way through the 2020 season. and then just kind of filling in some gaps there. So I'm pretty sure I have a Vendetti. I also have a Ryan Strasberger card, but nobody seems to ask me about that guy. I'm curious if Pat Vendiddy signs his autographs with both hands.
Starting point is 00:20:09 And if like he doubles up on the autos as well. You would think that like Tops would have done a card where it's like, you know, they do like the dual cards with the dual autographs or whatever. It just just dual Venditties. But one he signs left hand and one he's, I mean, that feels like a really good collector's card.
Starting point is 00:20:24 But yeah, maybe they're going to do that with Sanja. I don't know. Whose card I do have ready for the binder, but things are not going too well for him. No, no, they're not. Yeah. I mean, again, you shouldn't care about the Modesto nuts. Good point.
Starting point is 00:20:43 Except for the fact that they should exist. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, yeah, yeah, R&P nuts. That's forever. No, no nuts. All right, we'll continue going down memory lane in just a moment. But first a reminder of this episode of the lockdown air is brought to you by Ruggiat. Throughout the NHL finals, every shift matters, every moment is intense and everything comes down to execution when the pressure is at its highest. And just like athletes must be ready to perform
Starting point is 00:21:11 when the puck drops, a lot of guys want that same sense of readiness and confidence in their own lives too. That's where Ruggiat comes in. That's exactly what Ruggiat is built around. What stands out to me is not having to plan everything around timing. Something that works quickly and is easy to take really changes the mindset. It's more about confidence and being present in the moment. So head to Ruggiat.com slash locked on NHL and get 15% off your ED treatment.
Starting point is 00:22:18 That's RUG-G-I-E-T dot com slash locked-on. NHL for 15% off. Ruggiette, performance medicine for men. And you're listening to the lockdown Maris Podcast for the Locktime Podcast Network, your team every day. As always, if you want to hear from me and Colby even more and help support the show, we have a Patreon. It's called Control the Zone.
Starting point is 00:22:40 And on there we talk, Mariner, Seahawks, all the good stuff. For more information, go to patreon.com forward slash control the zone. Link in the description of this episode. Hey, Colby, did you know that I was at Game 2 of the Wild Card in 2022? I'm not sure if you know No, you've never mentioned it Well, let's look at this club So the Mariners
Starting point is 00:22:59 I played a little baseball game tonight At one point they were down 8 to 1 And it was like, okay, yeah This is, we're probably gonna play on Sunday All right, you know, whatever, you know Blue Jay is a good team But the Mariners end up completing One of the greatest comebacks
Starting point is 00:23:19 In playoff history in Major League Baseball the Mariners introduced the entire world to chaos ball tonight as they defeat the Blue Jays 10 to 9. The fans came out. They showed out that was the playoff atmosphere that I was expecting from Rogers Center. So that was really cool aside from, you know, the fact that the Mariners were down 8 to 1 and Robbie, Robbie. Oh my God, I was in my own personal hell at that point. And then everything just, maybe I died
Starting point is 00:23:54 and went to heaven or something. I don't know, but the Mariners somehow won that game. By the way, I have a souvenir here from the ballpark. These are one of the towels that are given out. And yes, indeed, next level.
Starting point is 00:24:06 That is truly a next level way to lose a playoff game. Of course, that was the Mariners' last playoff win for about three years. It took them a while to get back. And it took, a big series down in Houston and a pretty big play from one Mr. Victor Robles in order to make that happen
Starting point is 00:24:26 in order to set up the playoff run that we all witnessed last year. Yeah, just what a catch. I mean, you know, you see that ball get hit into shallow right and you go, all right, well, there it is. It's six to five now. It's going to be at least runners on the corners,
Starting point is 00:24:43 maybe even runners at second and third, depending on what happens with the throw into the infield. they're going to blow this. I mean, that's just the default, right? We're Maris fans. You know, this heartbreak has come in so many forms and fashions, and this would just be the latest, right? And a long line of heartbreak.
Starting point is 00:25:07 And then Victor Rublo's literally just flies from the side of the screen and makes that grab. And, you know, like Cal described it, like literally a flash of pink. and it's a victor yeah i mean it it's it's funny victor might have the two best catches of the year to kind of book end his season uh the guy who's played going to end up playing in what like 20 games out of the 162 uh has the two best catches uh of the year so and think about how poetic that is right like his season almost comes to an end making a play like that diving into that screen there in san francisco and then you know for him to work
Starting point is 00:25:46 his way back, all that. And we saw the emotions of that when he threw the bat at Joey S's and all that, just months and months of trying to come back and his mother, unfortunately, passing away and all this. And he works his way back to make a play like that in one of the biggest moments in the history of the Seattle Mariners. Now, of course, from that point forward, there were a lot of potential biggest moments in the history of the Seattle Mariner. So that one kind of got buried away, but that catch still incredible. Yeah, I mean, it was the most important, you know, series win and regular season, I mean, maybe history for the Mariners. And obviously, you know, the biggest series win sweep in our time doing the show.
Starting point is 00:26:34 So, yeah, it was, you know, it was funny because you were Mr. pessimism. I thought they were going to win that game, whether, I mean, like, Victor could have dove, missed it, and that could have rolled all the way to the wall. and the mayors would have found a way to win that game. The Astros suck. Like we know this now. But yeah, it certainly was just kind of one of those like you jump out of your seat and you celebrate. And, you know, it's kind of like we don't do like live watchalongs here because it would be interesting to see what our reaction was in the moment more so than after we've calmed down for about, you know, 40 minutes before the, you know, once we get the. resets out of the way and all that from stream yard and sometimes we don't get to events until
Starting point is 00:27:20 well after they happen but uh yeah victor's catch incredibly impressive it uh it very nearly beat felix's perfect game did it not or not his uh final start what was it yeah yeah yeah which didn't make our top 10 but could have we would have had a tie uh we almost did every round we almost had a tie um but uh yeah it was obviously you know, an incredible catch. And I think it was at that point that I think most Mariner fans were like, they're winning the division, which they hadn't done in, you know, 24 years at that point.
Starting point is 00:27:58 So, yeah, it certainly is a similar moment in Mariners history. And it certainly was a big part of our show last year and kind of kickstarted the insane, magical run that we got to go on with all of you guys. And, you know, maybe this year they do something similar. and maybe even take a little bit further an extra week of shows would not be a bad thing I'm totally down for that especially with a lot of low men yeah absolutely
Starting point is 00:28:26 now speaking of that magical run that of course includes the Mariners winning game five of the ALDS after a marathon yeah of course it was going to be like this of course of course no what did I say on yesterday's show I was like, Point a tie, he's so smart.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Hold on. If the Tigers were going to win, they were going to win like four to nothing, right? The Bears were going to win. It was going to be like in the 13th inning. And didn't I literally say like Leo Rivas was going to do something? I don't know. Who cares? He didn't do anything in the 13th inning, but I mean, sure.
Starting point is 00:29:04 Yeah. Leo Rivas is still a big part of this game, though, on his birthday. Yeah, I believe we said either the mayors are going to win in some crazy way or they were just going to like jump scubal randomly. and put up six runs in three innings. And yeah, what do you know? It was definitely the former because scoobel was incredible tonight. Scoobel was incredible. I mean, literally a historic playoff performance.
Starting point is 00:29:27 Good Lord, man. That guy is nuts. Nuts. And you overcame him twice in the span of five days. You beat him twice. Sure. You beat him twice. You beat him four times this year.
Starting point is 00:29:40 I mean, they didn't really beat him today. Who won the game? started the game tie scoble who won the game tie not scubel not school not school that's cool there you go they beat him four times including twice in the last six days or whatever five days whatever however long it's yeah i have honestly is today saturday i don't know i have lost track days i've i've lost track of everything the last like hour has been a blur i got i've gotten so many texts and so many phone calls and i've cried multiple times i've just
Starting point is 00:30:13 Yeah, I'm as you can tell, there's like going to be no structure to the show. I'm just going to warn you now. There's no structure for the show whatsoever. Look at the show sheet. Does it have bullet points? You're pointing to the wrong side, which is perfect. No, I'm not. That's a perfect encapsulation of what's going on.
Starting point is 00:30:31 Not on my show. Like, not as I'm yours. That's, you're pointing to the right. Well, you're pointing to me. You're pointing to me on my on my. Well, then look at the bullet points. There's nothing. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:30:42 Exactly. You're pointing to me. You're pointing to me. This guy gets on me about being Captain Symantic. And here he is like, oh, well, technically they didn't beat Scoobel. Well, there you go. Yeah, it sucks, right? When it happens to you?
Starting point is 00:30:58 I mean, like, no, because you were wrong. They did beat Sculb twice in a week. I think that clip is a perfect encapsulation of just us and what the show is. especially after big games like that where our minds are running a million miles an hour yeah I don't know I think it's the Luis rant
Starting point is 00:31:22 where you just kind of shut up and realize the star is talking and let him do his thing but sure yeah that that's that's probably in the top 10 now of course Polanco's walk off there in game five set up this moment let's just start here
Starting point is 00:31:38 Eugenio Sorses Grand Slam. Biggest hit in T-Mobile Park history? It's up there. I mean, like, the drought ender is certainly up there as well. Obviously, the double took place in the kingdom. So it really does feel like a two-horse race. I can't possibly think of any. I guess Polo's walk-off single in the ALDS is probably up there as well.
Starting point is 00:32:04 So, yeah, but yeah, I think probably that one. And I guess technically, Cal Raleigh's game tying home run is also probably in the top five or so. So a lot of really cool moments happening at Team Mobile Park, you know, after just two dreadful, dreadful efforts by this ball club at home in front of their fans. And, you know, tonight they send them home with really good vibes. And, you know, we'll see. They might have at least two more home games to, you know, play in. front of these guys and write some of the wrongs. But if not, you know, this is a heck of a send-off. And it, of course, of course it comes from A. E. E. E. E. Henio Suarez, the king of good vibes,
Starting point is 00:32:50 who has produced a lot of really bad vibes, particularly in this playoff run and in these playoffs. And tonight, he came through in a big, big way. So, yeah, I would say, I think it probably is either the Grand Slam or its Cowles, you know, you know, drought ending. home run. But I think it's fair to say that three of the four biggest hits have happened, you know, in, you know, this playoff run. And at least two of the four are from Cal Raleigh. So it's pretty cool to see all this good stuff happening right in front of us.
Starting point is 00:33:28 But, yeah, this job's not finished. One win away. And it's going to be tough. There's no question about it. but I'm excited to watch it. And I really hope they get this thing done. They did not. Yeah, poor naive Ty and Colby from October of 2025,
Starting point is 00:33:48 thinking that they were going to, surely they were going to win one at the next two. I'm going to go to the Rogers Center. I'm going to see my team go to the World Series for the first time ever. Oh, you sweet, innocent, little idiot. What's the, uh, oh, what's the Leslie Knop line? Anne Perkins, you sweet, naive. little
Starting point is 00:34:06 some bar or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. Just like, oh, honey. No. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:15 On the not plus side, I did a solo show that night and broke our record for most views on an episode. So proving once again, this guy has more fans. So you can prove me wrong by showing up to the ballpark on redacted date. That's right. And meeting wife of Ty Dan Gonzalez. that's right now I've saved a couple clubs for the end technically we have 11 moments that we're
Starting point is 00:34:46 going to go over we have a bonus club but I want to first take a look at my proudest moment of hosting this show before I hit stop on the record Colby's going to kill me for asking you to do this but Twitter will get nuts for this if you do it can I just get you to it's a meme it's a whole thing can I get you to say the word chills chills chills whenever you make a trade
Starting point is 00:35:16 whenever something good happens like for example Abraham Toro hitting a grand slam off of Kendall Graveman people go chills DePoto did it again I love how I love how what I explain to him Kendall Graven, Abraham Toro, his face lit up.
Starting point is 00:35:39 He got it. He immediately got it. Oh, I know exactly what you're putting down there. The most cringeworthy thing about that was the shirt you were wearing. Yeah, that was a pretty bad shirt. Yeah. But it looks like a taco. Yeah, it kind of does.
Starting point is 00:35:55 But, yeah, no, it was definitely Ty considers that to be like the proudest moment of his life. Like marrying his wife. Yeah. getting Jerry to say chills on camera with the finger point that I didn't even ask for. Like, yeah, that's number one. It'll be that ties children, if you ever has any. And then like meeting Julio at the Rogers Center and then like marrying his wife. Right.
Starting point is 00:36:23 And then all the way down here is doing this podcast with you. I mean, I don't even remember who you are. So. I have people tell me you're not very good at this tie so you know so I've heard so I've heard shout out to Colby's hand now probably listen before we get out of here we have one final clip
Starting point is 00:36:48 you and I were putting together this top 10 list and for some reason you and I both didn't even think of this moment and I just so happen to see it and be reminded of it I don't know why I didn't think of this when I was looking through all the episodes, but let's just get into it. I guess we'll start at the top. Phil Nevin is a disgrace to Major League Baseball. What he did was not only dangerous.
Starting point is 00:37:16 It was cowardly. It was a desperate attempt to jumpstart his team, which is one of the highest payrolls in baseball and has two generational talents, literally two once-in-a-lifetime type of talents on the roster. hitting back to back in their lineup. And yet still, they find themselves in a dog fight with the Seattle Mariners and their $80 million payroll for third place in the division currently.
Starting point is 00:37:40 So we'll start with that. Phil Evans is a disgrace to baseball. He shouldn't be in the game. He went out there and with malice, ordered his pitcher to throw at the head of one of the youngest stars in baseball. Thankfully, he missed. Right?
Starting point is 00:37:57 And there wasn't really any kind of a brush up about that. they missed there was a little bit of join between the dugouts but that was it you know the marons were prepared to move on uh nevin sends the same guy back out there this time they hit winker um and if you think it's an accident or just coincidence that anthony randone is the one who's inciting uproall it's not it's because he's out for the year so what is the suspension going to do for him it's a desperate attempt by a small small man to try and energize the troops because he's incapable of doing in himself. He used an injured player as a buffer and he lost control of his team. Prove me wrong. I mean, I know lies detected. Yeah. And you know who agrees with me? Baseball.
Starting point is 00:38:45 That's right. Bye Phil. Yeah, where's Phil now? Loser. Yeah, of course, that was after the Mariners Angels brawl back in 2022. A moment that a lot of of people point to you as kind of the jump start to how that year eventually went and that was a fun episode to do and uh I can't believe that we didn't think of that initially when we're putting together our top 10
Starting point is 00:39:13 so many so many years ago and like you can't show clips of the actual brawl which is the fun there's only there's only one brawl that we've ever covered and we are team role we're notoriously team brawl we've gotten close a couple times remember Scott young at Jeff Bannister in the Rangers there was the I mean yeah that was like the Astros. Yeah
Starting point is 00:39:35 the couple of the Astros Remember when we weren't even doing the show I don't think when Demo hit that grand slam Were we? It was 2021 July I think so Yeah that was right before lockdown So we talked about it on CTZ I'm sure Yeah when
Starting point is 00:39:53 Was it Brooks Rayleigh through a JP Yeah there were almost some dustups but yeah that brawl was not a dust up that was like an all-time brawl like there were there were punches being thrown was archie bradley like archie bradley like broke his arm trying to like oh what a surprise an angel can't clear a three foot fence rocking this is coming out like way after the fact and throwing what seeds or gum or whatever out onto the field what a bunch of losers loser franchise then something's never change right uh imagine being like disgraceful enough
Starting point is 00:40:30 and self-hating enough to root for the angels that's really like you need help you need help if you're rooting for the angels in the year of our Lord 2026 I feel sorry for you but also not really because fandom is a choice and you're choosing to stay in an abusive relationship so figure it out
Starting point is 00:40:47 get out but now angels suck they suck then they suck now and say what you want about the Mariners they have never fumbled a bag as hard as the angels with you know to like hey at least when they had Arod and Griffey they made the playoffs at the very least they did that so yeah uh yes so the one remaining constant through all of our lighting changes and our studio changes and my many many hats that were on display in this episode uh one thing that has remained the same is a word i can't say four letter word i can't say followed by the word the angels uh forever and ever because that is a garbage franchise run by garbage human beings. And every time they lose, I smile a little bit on the inside.
Starting point is 00:41:36 And I wish nothing but the worst for them. And I really hope that they enjoy their life as the Donald Washington of Major League Baseball. All right.
