Starting point is 00:00:00 Should the Mariners fire Dan Wilson? Let's talk about it. Colby, hit it. You are locked on Mariners. Your daily Seattle Mariners podcast. Part of the Locked On Podcast Network, your team every day. Ahoy, sailors, it is Monday, June 29th, 2026. My name is Tadang Azal.
Starting point is 00:00:25 I'm joined as always by my co-coes Colby Patnode. In a little bit, we'll open up the mailbag and answer your mariner's questions. But, Colby, I have a question to start things off. Now, yesterday, you saw yet another mayor's loss. heavily impacted by Dan Wilson's decision making. And obviously, this bullpen has been ravaged by injuries and they didn't have Jose Ferre available. And that obviously puts Dan in a tough position.
Starting point is 00:00:45 I recognize that. However, the way that Dan still maneuvered his bullpen usage yesterday to me was a problem. A couple of instances that I'll give you on that. You know, up by three in the sixth inning, only a runner on first. He burns Edward Bizarro to get one out. And then in the eighth, because he burned Bizarro, he goes to Michael Ruck. And when the lineup flips over and Stephen Kwan steps into the box with two on and one out after Rucker had already given up a run, he doesn't go to the lefty and Josh Simpson, despite Kwan having, I believe, a 44 WRC plus against lefties this year entering that at bat or rather plate appearance because he wound up walking. But then he goes to Simpson after Rucker walks Kwan.
Starting point is 00:01:31 And like, what? Like, what's the process behind that whole sequence? I was just utterly confused by that whole thing. So look, my question is simple because we've talked so much about Dan and Dan's decisions this year. And this team has fallen well shy of expectations. And there was a standard that was set last year when they nearly got to their first ever world series. And they have fallen well shy of that. standards so far. And this team just continues to play floppy fundamental baseball, which I think
Starting point is 00:02:07 at some point when that just continues to happen and happen and happen, that is a reflection of your leadership. So should Dan be fired? I think we've entered the stage where that's a very real conversation that should be taking place. I don't know how much of a positive impact it would have. The Mariners would just replace Dan with somebody who's already on the staff. probably Maniacta, who does have managerial experience before. So that's a plus. And obviously he knows the players very well. And as far as we know, he's pretty well liked in that clubhouse.
Starting point is 00:02:42 And obviously, he's bilingual, which is, you know, huge when you can bridge divides, you know, in that way. So, like, fine, but you're not going outside the door. You're not hiring Alex Cora midseason to come in and try and reset a culture and all of that. So it's just one of those things. It's the same thing as like scape. goading the hitting coaches. When the team doesn't hit, like, oh, it's, it's Maggianus's fault. And it's like, based on what? Like, we don't have any idea that has any actual tangible change. But yeah, it's definitely a conversation that should be had by the Mariners.
Starting point is 00:03:18 Because, again, if you're a big calling card is that you're a clubhouse guy, you're a culture guy, and, you know, you're steering the ship. And yeah, you know, you make some questionable decisions in game. but afterwards you really do a good job of, you know, blah, blah, blah, whatever. If that's your thing, you can't have a team that rolls over and dies as often as the 2026 Mariners and continue to tell me that you're good at that. Like you said, they play really sloppy baseball for extended stretches of time. They, you know, throw to the wrong base. We know all the defensive miscues.
Starting point is 00:03:53 They get picked off a lot. They throw how many pass balls and wild pitches with runners on third base. It's really is absurd. They have terrible at-bats with the game on the line with runners in scoring position. So it really is a kind of a cultural thing to me that the culture of the Mariners Clubhouse is not one of accountability. It's not one of, you know, of stick-to-itiveness. And it's not one of grit. This team, when they get down by more than one or two runs, they pack it in.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Like, this team has a shockingly low number of comeback victories. this year when they've been down by three runs. Like they just don't do it all that often. And again, part of this is a talent thing. Like the Marys have talent, but Julio was bad this month. And Cal's been bad all year.
Starting point is 00:04:41 And Josh, you know, been pretty good road trip, but he's been disappointing relative to expectations. And so there is a big chunk of this does fall into players ultimately. Because again, like you could have the biggest idiot in the world as your manager.
Starting point is 00:04:56 And if the players are good enough, you can still win and win, and win a lot. But right now those players aren't playing well, and nobody's being held accountable for it. Nobody is stepping up. Now, that did change a little bit yesterday. We finally had Cal step up and say, like, yeah, that's not good enough. We didn't hear that's baseball yesterday, which has kind of been like the crutch that Dan
Starting point is 00:05:20 Wilson has used for the first three months of the season. So is it time to fire him? I mean, again, I don't know if it would make that big of a difference. way or another. But it's definitely a conversation that should be had because again, if you're going to be Mr. I create culture and I fix the clubhouse and I'm this guy. And so you have to live with my, let's call it questionable on field decision making. You can perform like the mayors have performed this year and keep your job. There's only so much that we know that we can say from the outside looking in. We're not in that clubhouse. So I don't want to just make a ton of
Starting point is 00:05:59 assumptions, but from the outside looking end, I just wonder, like, how does Dan help? I don't see anything from what I have access to. I don't see anything that tells me that Dan Wilson is a plus for this club in any way. So whether, you know, he gets fired now or he gets fired after this season, I just don't think Dan is a good fit for this situation moving forward. So I don't know if firing him now necessarily fixes anything, but I would say that I would like to see the merits have a different manager in 2027, assuming that baseball gets played in 2027. Yeah, I think that is reasonable. Like it's, again, you never should have given him the full-time job to begin with.
Starting point is 00:06:54 That should have been an interim tag and you should have had this review. You should have had this interview process. And you got to it's what's really striking to me is very weird. very much an old school baseball guy. Like he, you know, he likes innings-based usage for his relievers, and he still bunts way too much. And, you know, he does all these things that, you know, they did in the 1990s. Yet your front office is more analytically inclined, and they want to use platoons,
Starting point is 00:07:23 and they want to use high leverage versus low leverage, and they want to play matchups to try and get that little edge every time. And, you know, Dan Wilson literally said yesterday, he became the mean. come to life. The, well, it was time for Bizarro to pitch. It was time for Gabe Spire to pitch without any kind of like nuance or any kind of understanding of the situation. There's no feel.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Daniel says no feel for what's happening in the game. So he sticks to the script. And basically what you're telling me is if Emerson Hancock had gone six innings, he'd gotten that last out, Bizarro would have pitched the seventh, spire the eighth, and Munoz the ninth. But because he didn't get that last out, all of a sudden you panic. you, oh, well, Bizarro is supposed to be the first one out of the pin. So I have to go with Bizarro.
Starting point is 00:08:05 And then I guess he can't go more than an inning or more than one out, despite not pitching the entire series. Like, it doesn't make sense. So you have to have somebody who has some feel, somebody who understands the game situation, understands where their club is at, understands where the bullpen is at and say, like, look, I know this is what we were hoping would have happened, but it didn't happen that way. So here's how we have to pivot. Basically, I'm willing to ask Bizarro to get three outs.
Starting point is 00:08:30 I should be willing to ask Bizarro to get four. Like, it really is that simple. And, you know, Dan doesn't have that feel. He just doesn't have that feel. And he's not great at going off script. And, you know, it's just one of those things where we've seen very little effort to improve from Dan Wilson this year from last year. He still makes the same mistakes over and over and over again. That to me doesn't sound indicative of a guy who wants to learn the modern game, who wants to be, you know, this guy who can.
Starting point is 00:09:00 win these chess matches with these other good managers. This is just a guy who just wants to throw his guys out there and be hands off and step away and let them do their thing and not take any accountability for. Like, how much different would it be yesterday of Dan was like, you know what? I screwed up. I got cute. I thought I could, you know, squeeze out an inning from this bullpen from one of the, you know, the lesser guys. But I should have read the situation. Bizarro should have pitched the seventh.
Starting point is 00:09:26 And I could have had game for the eighth and who knew us for the ninth. And honestly, if you do that, you probably win that game. Now, again, part of this, Michael Rucker and Josh Simpson have no one to be big leaguers. They should probably be able to protect a three run lead in the eighth inning against the bottom of Cleveland's lineup. Yeah, yeah. Like, we shouldn't let them off the hook. But also, they're not important to this. Like, they're, they're villains.
Starting point is 00:09:47 And so whatever, you get mad at them. They'll be gone tomorrow or the next day and they'll call up somebody else to try. So, yeah, it's just one of those things where Dan doesn't have a good feel. Dan's not a good, you know, improviser. And he's just the wrong guy. He's not a good match with this front office. The front office is building a team that has to be played precisely. And it has these various defined roles for guys.
Starting point is 00:10:12 And it's based on leverage and outcome, not based on, you know, well, it's time for Paul Seawall to pitch. Like, no, like that's not how the front office wants to run things. And that's how Dan runs things. So fundamentally, there's a big gap there between the two sides. So, yeah, it really is a weird fit, and it's a weird hire. And again, now with the clubhouse not showing anywhere near the resiliency it has in the past under Dan Wilson and playing sloppier baseball than ever, it does beg the question, does Dan actually have control of his clubhouse? Does he actually have feel for managing this group of guys? Because I would submit to you, the answer is no based on the first 85 games of this year.
Starting point is 00:10:56 But even going back to last year, yes, Dan Wilson was the manager of the Mariners Club that nearly got to its first ever World Series. I didn't necessarily see anything that would tell me that Dan gave that team some extra sort of boost. I think that team simply just won in spite of Dan. I think that team got a historic,
Starting point is 00:11:25 once in a generation type of catcher season out of Cal Raleigh and had a really talented roster and they nearly got to the World Series because of that. That's what I think. And this year, I'm not seeing Dan Wilson give this team any sort of extra little boost. I think there are some real operational and fundamental issues
Starting point is 00:11:50 on the major league side of things for the Mariners from top to bottom and the reason that it hasn't become a complete disaster and they're still just kind of like hanging around 500 is because they are so talented so you know I've been very open about this
Starting point is 00:12:10 and you know you guys ask every single week and we've answered this question a billion times and that's why we're not answering it again this week but I'll just reiterate my feelings on this like I at the time that they fired Scott and they they hired Dan and gave him the keys,
Starting point is 00:12:29 I did not like the idea of them going with another first-time manager. I thought the thing that the mayor is needed at that time was a guy who's been there and done that and has championship pedigree. You know, at the time it was Terry Francona, which I don't know how much interest Terry Francona actually had or has or whatever in coming to Seattle, but still that was the idea. It didn't have to be Terry Francona,
Starting point is 00:12:56 but like the idea was Terry Francona. And this year, or I guess as far as 2027 is concerned, the idea would be Bruce Bochy, Alex Cora, etc. Someone that finishes the job, right, that brings that championship pedigree into that clubhouse that knows what it takes ultimately to get through a 162 game season and to also press the right buttons in October to help you get there. I think that's what ultimately this wrong.
Starting point is 00:13:28 roster needs because they have all the talent in the world. They do. This is arguably the most talented Mariners roster ever. At least the most talented roster that they've had since 2001, since the Griffey and A-Rod teams. I think the roster isn't necessarily the issue. I think the guys on the roster are part of the problem with the sloppy baseball and all that.
Starting point is 00:13:57 But this is relatively the same roster that we saw near. to the World Series last year, right? So I just, I think they need a leader who has that experience to help finish the job. All right. We'll finally open up the mailbag and answer some of your questions here in just a moment. But first a reminder of this episode of the lockdown errors podcast is brought to you by Amazon. A big thank you to our friends at Amazon for this limited break. This back to school season, spit less on your kids with Amazon.
Starting point is 00:14:27 We all know how crazy the back to school shopping experience can be. It starts with a few items on the list. And suddenly you're shopping for supplies and clothes and launch gear and tech and about 10 other things you didn't see coming. It adds up fast. Like when you buy clothes for back to school, then your kid has a gross spurt two weeks later and you're right back where you start it. Sometimes it genuinely feels like they're growing faster than your budget can keep up. Or when your kid's definition of need for back to school shopping is a lot different than your definition of need. Somehow the list keeps getting longer every time they look at it.
Starting point is 00:14:58 And explaining the need versus one conundrum this time of year has just become an annual point. part of the process or when the teacher's supply list arrives and somehow every item feels completely reasonable on its own but then you add everything together and realize just how much stuff one kid needs for one school year so remember with amazon's low back to school prices just spend less on your kids because every dollar you don't spend on them is a dollar you haven't spent on them shop back to school at amazon and spend less on your kids and you're listening to the Locktime Mariner's podcast part of the Lockdown Podcast Network, your team every day. Thank you so much for making us your first listen for all things, Mariners.
Starting point is 00:15:38 And also thank you for making Lockdown the number one sports podcast network. Don't forget to check out the everyday or club for ad free episodes and access to a group chat with me and other listeners of this show. To have the link in the description or go to lock down mariners. Supercast.com to learn more. All right. Let's get into your questions here on Mailbag Monday. Code Mode wants to know as bad as the AL is. And regardless of all the bad luck and injuries, this team just looks like.
Starting point is 00:16:02 nothing more than a 500 team at best so is there any scenario where the mariners should actually consider selling at the deadline are you asking me if they should sell and if that's what's best for the future of the organization because if so then yes yes it is yes okay guys at the bowling alley apparently that's right that's right um though sure there's a scenario. Like, I don't, I don't think people understand that you have, I think it's 12 games until the All-Star break. If you go like three and nine, which, by the way, is certainly not out of the realm of
Starting point is 00:16:48 possibility with the way they're playing. And keep in mind, they do a Florida road trip before the All-Star break. Miami is one of the hottest teams, is the hottest team in baseball right now. And the race, in addition to being on fire and being one of the best teams in the American League this year. They're a terrible matchup for you. They run and they play defense. Oh my God. How are you going to beat them? So keep in mind, the last six are very difficult games as well. Yeah. So could they go three and nine. Yeah, they could. At which point you'd be seven games under 500. You have to consider selling at that point. You have to. Like so you can see her be like, oh, they have time. They have time. Not if they win four of their next 15 like they have over the last two weeks, then their season's over. Like that, you're, you're toast at that point. So it's just one of those things where it's like, yeah, I don't think people
Starting point is 00:17:40 understand just how close this team is to the edge where they will sell or at the very least not buy any meaningful way. And, you know, even if even then, if they don't start playing a little bit better, you might see them do a 2023. You know, maybe they trade Gabe Spire like he's Paul Seawald and they get like a role player and then kind of a 4A guy that they want to give a shot to and maybe it works maybe it doesn't i don't know but like i don't think people quite get that like they're like oh no because you know you're only game you're only half a game back everybody else is so mad and it's like yeah but
Starting point is 00:18:14 there's a team every year that gets to the all-star break and they're in it and then they slide right before the all-star break and a little bit after and then they end up being sellers at the deadline the mariners are a team that's on a slide right now and is one of those fringe playoff contenders So, yeah, you could reach a point where selling makes sense as soon as, you know, two weeks from now. But you go into the All Star break saying like, the Mariners should probably be shopping George Kirby. The Mariners should definitely be shopping Randy at Rosarena and J.P. Crawford and any other rental. Like, yeah, there is a scenario and it's very realistic. Like the Mariners need to win both of these series against, you know, really bad Angels team and a very much struggling Toronto Blue Jays team.
Starting point is 00:18:58 They need to win both of those. series and then they need to find a way to play decent ball on the road against two very good teams because if they don't there's a high possibility that we will spend all-star weekend talking about hey what could you get for george kirby in a trade you know and hey what is randy rhoda where are you going to trade randy rosarena for the a uhenio swarres type of package is that worth it to you blah blah blah there's not going to be a a qualifying offer next year so you're not going to get a draft pick if you hold on to them yada yada like that'll be the conversation for an entire week you're that close
Starting point is 00:19:29 to teetering over the, you have 12 games here to really kind of set the direction of our conversation for the following two, three weeks after that. So you need to play good baseball and you need to start doing it now. This is not when I was like, uh, whatever, get to September. They'll be fine. Like, no, no, the time is now. Like, we have reached the point where you need to start playing good baseball or you're going to be a seller. Yeah. So obviously selling would be incredibly disappointing.
Starting point is 00:19:58 would it be the worst thing in the world for this club? No. Because that would finally, maybe, maybe, get them to make a decision on Logan Gilbert. Because I think if Logan isn't part of your plans beyond 2027, you should probably trade him. But if you're not going to trade him this year, then you're probably going to get pennies on the dollar relative to what you could get now. because of all the questions that the lockout brings next year. So, like this is going to be a seller's market also.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Yeah, yeah. So especially for pitching, starting pitching, which the Mariners have, as of right now, plenty of. So it's one of those things where it's like,
Starting point is 00:20:50 yeah, if you get to a point where you're five, six games under 500 as we get into late July, you probably should consider it because the odds are that trading, I don't know, Logan Gilbert and replacing him with Kate Anderson or whatever might not hurt your playoff odds that much because they're already so low, it doesn't matter. So, yeah, again, you have to start playing good baseball and it has to start tonight.
Starting point is 00:21:14 Like you need to win this series and you need to win. In reality, you should be thinking we're going to go five and one against these two teams. They suck. The Angels suck. and the Blue Jays are really struggling. Like you should sweep the Angels. You should take two or three from the Blue Jays. Is that going to happen?
Starting point is 00:21:32 No, but can you at least go four and two? Can you at least win bowl series? I hope so. But yeah, like, if this team sells, if this team gets to a point where they sell,
Starting point is 00:21:43 it may end up being a net positive for 2027, assuming there is a season, because they will make bank if they actually sell what they should sell at that point. But you don't want them to sell. You want them to be, buyers. Because this is supposed to be a World Series year.
Starting point is 00:21:57 But again, ultimately, not really up to Jerry. It's up to the guys in that clubhouse over the next three weeks or so. Yeah. To force their hand. We'll see if they can do it. Yeah. It's really, it's less about what could they give for Randy and JP. I don't know how much they would actually be able to get for those guys.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Yeah, the expiring contracts. The position, I mean, we saw what Gina went for and Naylor went for last year. Like, you're probably not going to get it. that's interesting for those guys. They both probably get you something similar to the Josh Naler package. Probably. What do you do? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:33 Yeah, maybe a little bit more just because there might be less sellers this year than last year, but there weren't that many sellers last year either. So I don't know. Whatever. But yeah. We're about two weeks away from having that serious conversation to answer your question. Yeah. But what I would mostly be focused on there and what I would actually be intrigued by
Starting point is 00:22:55 and what I think could ultimately lead to some positive out of an overall crappy situation would be if they actually traded Logan, maybe Munoz, maybe Spire. But really Logan. Logan's the big one. Yeah, George, maybe. But Logan, because of the lockout and everything next year
Starting point is 00:23:17 and because next year is his last year on his deal, yeah, Logan's kind of the big one. Yeah, and again, keep in mind, If they did sell, they would be selling with the idea that we're going to compete again in 2027. So they're not going to trade Brian Wu or Bryce Miller or Julio or Cal or Josh or any of those guys. But the expiring contracts, relievers, yeah, they definitely would shop those guys. Next question here from Wren. What are the odds that Josh Taylor is playing through some sort of injury, which is affecting his play?
Starting point is 00:23:48 Very high. That is the case. He is playing through stuff right now. I can say that with full confidence. for sure. I mean, the wrist, the shin,
Starting point is 00:23:56 the back. Yeah, I've also talked to people who've told me he's playing through something right now. So, and you know,
Starting point is 00:24:03 he had a good road trip to his credit. Yeah, very good. His June numbers are starting to look pretty good. Now he's, you know,
Starting point is 00:24:11 remember we talked about how like this, this month has kind of been an inverse of last month where like last month he was, he was hitting for average and he was getting on base, but he wasn't slugging. And,
Starting point is 00:24:19 you know, this month he was slugging, but he wasn't hitting for average and getting on base. Those numbers, the average and the, the on base, I've started to normalize here. Let me see if I can bring it up real quick here for June.
Starting point is 00:24:31 Yeah, he's been, he had very, very good six days. And even made some really nice defensive plays, which is noteworthy because he's been terrible out there. Yeah, 264, 319, 437. That's a slash line for him this month. Yeah. He's like a little.
Starting point is 00:24:49 He's like a little bit more production, but it's still pretty solid. And again, he had a very, very nice road trip. So hopefully he carries it over at home. And maybe, you know, July, he puts together the best of May and the best of June. And he has that huge month. We know he's capable of it. We saw it last year.
Starting point is 00:25:09 And you're listening to the Lockdown Marys podcast, part of the Lockdown Podcast, network, your team every day. Starting point is 00:26:05 But yeah, in the next couple weeks, I'm hoping to have some news for you guys in terms of a meetup or event or something like that. Now that I have everything booked, I'm going to start looking into venues for that. I've met a few of you, you know, at Rogers Center when the mayor has been here in Toronto. And I know Colby has had the chance to meet quite a few of you at the ballpark over the years. But now we're going to be together.
Starting point is 00:27:18 I'm going to meet Colby for the first time in person. and hopefully we get to meet quite a few of you. I'm looking forward to it. So I hope to see you there. Next question here from BSU Hock, over under 10 at bats, remaining for Rough Snyder as a mariner. I don't know who's pitching in the Angel series.
Starting point is 00:27:36 I think Detmer says game two. No, it's Soriano. I don't think it matters. I think he's making it to the trade deadline at the very least. That's the pessimism in me. saying that unless there's an IL stent they finally make that decision
Starting point is 00:27:58 I'll take the over yeah I'm taking the over unfortunately yeah Ryan Johnson Jose Soriano Walpert Urania A couple tough Angels could pitch a little bit
Starting point is 00:28:14 which is a weird sentence to say Final question here of the day comes from MJF B-80, do you think the mayor is sending down Hancock after his last start before the All-Star break? He has one option left. He would need to be down for 15 days. So we would probably only miss one start during that time and help limit his innings. It would allow you to get an extra arm in the pen as well. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:37 It's not sure when Hancock's last, does Hancock's last start before the All-Star break fall on Saturday? Then it's like, what's the point? But if it falls on like the Thursday, like if he pitches the fifth to last game, so like he goes, Hancock and then one, two, three, four, all-star break. Like, if his next start would be on that Monday, fine. Like, that's fine. But other than that, like, if you're only going to get an extra bullpen arm for a day or two, don't really see the point.
Starting point is 00:29:07 But sure, it's definitely a trigger that they could pull. They really need that extra bullpen arm late in that road trip. Yeah. I don't think it's, I wouldn't say it's likely, but I would say it's, definitely a possibility because again, I mean, they,
Starting point is 00:29:25 they just canceled his piggyback. And we know that they're going to want to shave some innings from Hancock somewhere. So maybe that's how they do
Starting point is 00:29:31 it instead of the, uh, instead of, you know, the piggyback afterwards. Maybe they just give him one full turn through the rotation
Starting point is 00:29:37 where he's down in Tacoma. And maybe he throws like a three inning outing for the rainiers or something like that. So do you want to burn that option? So, so what the hell was that all about? The piggyback cancellation?
Starting point is 00:29:51 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Why are they making this up as they go? I don't know. This is the issue with the mayor. Sorry, I know we're at the end and I'm starting to rant now. But like, this is, this is one of the biggest issues with this club. Is their lack of commitment to certain things and their lack of conviction with certain things?
Starting point is 00:30:12 And then they're over commitment with other things. Like, they're over commitment to Rob Ruff Sider and that whole thing. you talk so much about this plan right and that print blank stayed up for 48 straight hours or whatever the story was and he put together two plans and he presented them to the club and everyone unanimously decided you know to go with this plan and then you back out why like i'm not i'm not super broken up about this because i don't like the piggyback thing in general if i know that for the most part it has worked but like you have a plan you made a whole freaking deal about this and now you backed out on it like what are you doing like yeah why are you again like why are you making this up as you go yeah it's you got to have conviction about something you know make up your mind pick a direction and just commit to it now they said oh well we want to give some guys an extra day's rest is brown Wu going on the IL or so. Does he have a sword thing that you're hoping
Starting point is 00:31:30 you can work through with an extra day off? Because if so, just put them on the IL. The rotation is one of the only spots you can withstand a 15 day IL stand at right now. And by the and by the way, canceling the piggyback might have had real consequences for how yesterday's game went. Because it's a pretty good shot. Jose Ferrer doesn't pitch on Saturday if you just employ the piggyback and then he's available on Sunday and then we don't have to do this whole Michael Rucker thing or you can move Cassidy to the bullpen full time and he probably pitches the 8th and you probably
Starting point is 00:32:07 win yesterday so they're lost it they don't have an identity they don't have conviction they're just lost right now that's an organization that's the problem and you know like typically especially with this front office even with some of the things that they have done that people have not liked, that
Starting point is 00:32:29 the majority have not liked, I've been able to understand it, I've been able to wrap my head around it, even if I'm not a fan of it, you know, like the piggyback thing, I can at least wrap my head around it, right? Yep. I can't defend this.
