But we start with the Mariners 8-0-0-1 win over the Reds last night. Now the Mariners are just one-win away from securing a winning

homestand, which is what we were hoping they'd be able to, accomplished coming out of the All-Star break against two of the worst teams in the National League. This game was weird. A lot of stuff happened in this game. A lot of weird stuff, a lot of good stuff. Some bad stuff. Obviously, J.P. Crawford gets scratched right beforehand with a wrist thing.

Julio has to leave the game as well midway through. We talk about that maybe a little bit later on. You know, George Kirby gets pulled after completing six innings at just 80 pitches thrown. We'll probably talk about that a little bit as well. well and then yeah Terry Francona brings in a lefty and Caleb Ferguson former mariner and has him

immediately intentionally walked Domcan zone to load the bases for Cal Raleigh and Ferguson immediately hangs a breaking ball and Raleigh destroys it which boy did he need that we all needed that frankly

Victor Robles also had a four for game. I had a big time defensive play as well. You know, there's the whole umpire thing that has gone viral that I posted the video of of Caleb Ferguson fat shaming Bill Miller. Is that his name? Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, a lot of stuff happened in this game. Very, very weird game. But like I said, you know, the bearers one went away now from accomplishing what they needed to accomplish. Yeah. And it, you know, hasn't been the prettiest, you know, path to get And, you know, again, they're still, they still need to win at least one of these next two. And obviously, Chase Burns is a very tough customer tonight.

So it did feel like you kind of needed to win this one. But then again, we literally said just late last week that like, yeah, you kind of have to win game one against the Giants because you're probably not going to take two in a row against Webb and Ray. And that's exactly what happened. So, yeah, it was a, it was a fun last three innings or so, which is kind of a new thing. for the Mariners in the last three or four days. Yeah, this game was one nothing going. It's like like Nick, uh, Nick Davila came into this game for,

for George Kirby with a one nothing lead. Two, three, four, five or like, no, it was a four or five, six. Like it was like middle part of their order. And after, yeah, after Kirby was inexplicably removed after 80 pitches, like, ah, that thing could have turned quite differently. But, uh, you know,

thankfully there was some Caleb on Caleb violence and, you know, the good Caleb, you know, walked away the winner of that one. So, yeah, it has been not, you know, the easiest, not the easiest wins against these bad teams, but they are wins at the end of the day. And, you know, you want to be technical to Merritt and won three of their last four and are now back in first place. Again, it has been the prettiest wins. But they have been, you know, some really good Mariner type of wins.

They pitched very well over the last, you know, three days in particular. They have hit home runs. They've played clean baseball by their standards for the most part. And, you know, and what they've added here, and the reason they put up, you know, five, six, seven runs here in the last, you know, eight runs yesterday in the last three games, that they've also managed to kind of not necessarily manufacture. run, but they've gotten that extra hit with a guy on base who that wasn't a home run. You know, it's like really the formula for the Mariners is you need to hit two home runs and they need to get that like one extra hit with a runner on second. And if you do that with your pitching, you're probably going to win most nights.

I mean, if you hit two home runs in general, you're probably going to win. But they're not just hitting home runs in these three games. The home runs are there and they're a huge part of the scoring, but they're also kind of getting a run or two with like a sacrifice fly or just, you know, a nice clean single up the middle with a runner on second. We saw them steal some bags yesterday to help them score. And so, like, yeah, it got, saw good at bat from, from Colt Emerson, who's, you know, kind of found a way to chip in, like hasn't had a great game in a while, but the last two

or three games, he's kind of found a way to chip in, got the punt down Saturday, sacrifice fly yesterday. The big defensive stop against Louisa Rise in the 10th inning a couple days ago. He's kind of just finding a way to kind of chip in every night. which is great because for a while there he wasn't doing any of that. So we'll see if that means anything. We'll see if Cal Raleigh's Grand Slam means anything. But, you know, it's tough to think anybody's back after one game, after what we've watched all year.

But yeah, it was a fun game, certainly. And there were some memes were born out of this game and some, you know, rather questionable decisions were made. Although, honestly, I understand why Frank Kona did what he did. as 2026 cow Raleigh we're talking about not 2025 but it was interesting by the I don't know you saw us to he said the reason they walked Canzone there even though it was left on left was because Canzone had like a 900 OPS against lefties and it's like oh 33 plate appearances so like

that's that's weird but also knows at Canzone can't get lefties yeah exactly yeah that's what I was going to say it only took 33 plate appearances for Frankona to be terrified of Canzone facing a lefty, but you know, whatever, not to rehash that. Yeah. But yeah, just. Lays they're finally doing it.

Finally let can't zone head against lefties. In general, what we've seen in the last few days is exactly what you should do. Like they're, they blew out the reds, even though it took them a while to get there. It, you know, they, they kind of grinded and then kind of pulled away from the giants. Like, this is what you do. When you are a more talented team in general, just like in sports in general, it's not always the case for baseball. It's such a unique game. but like when you're the more talented team,

typically like teams can keep it close for like the first half of a game. And then just the overwhelming amount of talent you have just eventually like pulls you away. And that's kind of what's happened in the last two days. And obviously the big game on Saturday that may be looked at as kind of the turning point for the season, the Cole Young three run home. Maybe it won't be because maybe this team will lose four in a row and we'll be right back to where we started. But yeah, certainly never know what this club. No, certainly it looks more like the Mariners were accustomed to again.

Had some memes, had some good pitching, hit some home runs, a little bit of chaos ball mixed in there. That's about as, you know, marinery as a win has gotten in a long time. And by the way, not even just like all of Victor Robles' hits were like not well struck. Like they were off the end of the bat. They were one of them was like a cue shot just past the first base line. And then there was the obviously the one there and the that created a national sensation. great look for Caleb Ferguson, by the way. It's the umpire's fault you get out that salami.

Um, but, uh, yeah, it really was. I got to, I got to say, I felt good to do that against Caleb Ferguson because, you know,

I'm not, I'm not a fan. I'm not a fan. Yeah. Especially after he nearly blew that giant lead in Detroit and, uh, what game three? Yeah,

game three. Yeah. Yeah. Um, yeah, um, yeah, not great.

And then he was just so bad. He wasn't even usable. So the Mariners were basically going a man down in the bullpen in the ALCS. Yeah. So again, Cal Raleigh with the big swing last night. We'll talk more about that. We'll also talk a little bit about J.P. Crawford, Julio Rodriguez, George Kirby, and just a moment. making locked on the number one sports podcast network so obviously it's been just such a bad year for for cal um and we talked about it yesterday that it's just become harder and harder to seize the light at the end of the tunnel and obviously whenever something good happens for cal we're all going to be very desperate to try and point to that as hey Hopefully that's kind of the turning point. But considering the events leading up to his Grand Slam last night, I mean, frankly, he just, he gets straight up disrespected by the Reds there in that situation. I'm hoping that is the turning point here.

I mean, I know I might be grasping at straws here, but like that was a moment that Cal absolutely needed. And like I said, we all kind of absolutely needed to see from. from Cal Raleigh there. Yep. Yeah, I mean, you know, grasping at straws, sure, but it's like, what else is the alternative? Cal Raleigh is that important to this team? Yeah. Like if Cal Raleigh could be Cal Raleigh, not even 2025 Cal Raleigh, or even just a month

or even a couple weeks at this point, like that just makes everything so much easier for everybody else. It's, he's the rising tide that lifts all the boats, right? Like that's his role here. And he just has not been that guy at all this year. And even yesterday, before the Grand Slam, took some ugly at bats. You know, he's really feeling it right now, feeling bad right now. And so, yeah, it's just, it's nice to see him be on time for the curveball, not be fooled by it, not take it.

You know, for a first fit, you're like, no, I'm going to trust my swing. I'm going to trust myself. I'm going to get my foot down on time. And I'm just going to put a good swing on it. And, you know, it was good to see. he's, cow struggled this year, certainly,

but he's really struggled from the right side. So, yeah, it was really nice to see Cal do what he needed to do and just kind of, you know,

in that ball game, like game over at that point. And you hope he see, you hope you see more of it. And, you know, again, if you really want to,

like, make it seem like you think Cal's close, you could point to all the foul balls and all that stuff. He's taking a few more walks. Like, but until he does,

it, I don't know, for a couple weeks at least, it's hard to look at this as more than just a blip on the radar. So we'll see where it goes from here, but obviously, yeah, not only did Cal need it. I think, you know, the fan base needed it. And frankly, I think that clubhouse, that that dugout needed it a little bit because that that's their guy, you know, and that's the guy who's supposed to, to, you know, be him in the middle of the lineup. And you just lost Julio and, you know, for the last 10 days.

and then hey look, Julio just left this game too in the sixth inning. And so just not great. Obviously, Julio's a big energy guy. And it's probably more of a coincidence. The fact that they're playing bad teams, but they haven't lost since Julio's return. And they've certainly appeared to play

with a bit more of a spark and a bit more fire since Julio's been added back to the lineup. But, yeah, Cal's that guy. And he has to be that guy. And ultimately, he wears the vast majority of the blame for what's gone wrong this season, whether that's fair or not. It's the position you put yourself in. When you're an MVP candidate and you perform like this,

like, yeah, you're going to shoulder most of this blame and nobody shoulders it more than Cal already. That's, you know, all that he has to take on, and now he has to struggle on top of it. It's been a really tough year for him. So for him to get that, you hope that that's kind of a turning point, just kind of something that clicks and says like, hey, you know what? I'm very good at this game.

I know I'm way better than I have been. And I just need to trust myself and I'll figure it out. and hopefully last night was the first step. But now we see it again for multiple weeks, just kind of a blip in the radar until further notice. Yeah, just his second home run from the right side of the plate this year. Obviously, he had 22 last year. And that was a big reason that he was ultimately able to get to 60 because, you know,

he hadn't really ever, you know, tapped into that power from the right side. And I mean, he was really good from the right side in general, way better, like just in terms of like the average and all that than the left side. side last year. You know, that was just such a huge part of his game and it just hasn't been there this year. So again, you know, hopefully this is the moment. Hopefully

this is the step in the right direction that we've been waiting to see from Cal Raleigh. But again, you know, like you said, we'll only really find that out here over the next, you know, a few weeks. You know, you and I spoke with Ryan DeVish earlier today and you guys will

hear that conversation on tomorrow's show and DeVish had a lot of really good insight on on Cal and specifically that moment as well. So yeah, you know, they really need to get him going here. It would just be such a massive, massive swing in the right direction for them.

By the way, the Mariners are going to face a bunch of left-handed pitching. I think they have two start, right now the way it's set up, things can change, but they have, they're facing McKinsey Gore and Texas. I think they're facing flats,

maybe too. and then they're facing two lefties in the Dodgers series. Well, Lutz is a reliever. So, yeah. I'm sorry. I was trying. It was four of like, I think it was four of their next eight games. They're going to see Montgomery.

Yeah. And then they're going to see. Yeah. And then the Dodgers series are going to see Rebleski and Lauer. Lauer. Yeah. So four lefties in the next eight games. Yeah. Cal can get it going from the right side.

That would be huge. Yeah. He's got a 39 WRC plus right now from the left side. That's after the last side. the Grand Slam last night. Last year, it was a 186 WRC plus from the right side. It was 150 WRC plus from the left side in 2025. Yeah, only.

Right. Right. Yeah. So anyways, four lefties in the next eight days, four lefties before the deadline. Cowell from the right side is going to have to step up a little bit. And obviously, you hope Julio's okay. And probably going to see more Weston Wilson. Mitch Garber, I would imagine,

over the next week or so as well. So Mariners Rites need to step up. But I believe they've won four starts in a row against left-handed pitcher. So now they didn't exactly destroy Andrew Abbott last night, but they didn't win the game. And ultimately, that's all that really matters. So J.P. Crawford was scratched right before first pitch with a wrist thing. You know, he was shaking that wrist on Sunday during,

one of his at bats, I forget exactly which one it was, or at what point in the game it was. But, you know, so I picked up on though. I had picked up on that. You had picked up on that. And then, yeah, he gets scratched yesterday. So I think he's considered day to day was the word from Dan Wilson last night. And then Julio, Tim Booth of the Seattle Times reported that

Julio's removal from the game sounds like it was precautionary. He says the combo of. being hit by that ball on the throw by L.E. De La Cruz, which the mayor scored their first run. And the jarring from hitting first base, full speed, just, you know, caused a little bit of an issue there. And so they took him out of the game. And Dan afterwards said that there wasn't a concern that there's like a strain or anything there. So hopefully, fingers crossed, Julio in the lineup, and then we'll see about JP tonight. and then you know there's the weird moment that I alluded to you know early on in the show in this game where George Kirby kind of cruising you know gets through six innings at about 80 you know pitches thrown or exactly exactly 80 pitches thrown and they don't have him go back out there now Aaron Goldsmith on the broadcast last night speculated that maybe it was because you know George hasn't thrown in what 10 days or hadn't thrown in about 10 days once in the last three years once in the last three years.

weeks. Yeah. So maybe it's just because of that, you know, they wanted to take it easy with him. Maybe. Um, other than that, though, I got nothing for a short bullpen day. You know that you're not going to have Spire. You know, you're not going to have bizardo. You're probably not going to have Munoz just because he doesn't pitch three days in a row until September, even though he's only thrown nine pitches in each of his last two outings. They're probably not going to push that. And that's why you saw Davila or Davila. Do we ever get clarification on that? I think it's Davila. And I've heard from a from a couple people who are credentialed that, you know, I've talked to that are like, that have referred to them as Davila. So I don't know if they're just going off of Dan's pronunciation, but, you know, but they also have the, you know, the media guide from the Mariners. So maybe it says Davila on there. I don't know. Yeah. I'm going with Davila now. Okay. Davila pitching the, uh, the seventh, certainly not ideal. And I, I shudder to think what the plan would have been if the Mariners hadn't broken through in the bottom of the seventh. Yeah, just really weird decision to short script them.

I'm sure like in theory, that's all well and good. But 80 pitches and six innings is not a heavy workload by any stretch. It just felt, I mean, I just, I don't get it. It feels like this is what we were planning on doing, you know, after the break ends. And we're just going to stick to it even when you can't leave the bullpen hanging out there to dry. So like it's just one of those things. It's like, yeah, that's a great plan. If you have at least one of your high leverage guys, like the only high leverage guy that we're pretty confident was available last night was Ferrer. Yeah. He certainly had his own problems over the last

couple of weeks. So it was just kind of one of those things where it's like, I don't get like the short scripting. I mean, I don't know. Maybe George is sick. Maybe he, you know, maybe he just, you know, afterwards, just felt like, you know, I don't know why, but I just, we don't know, right? And, and, or maybe it was the plan all along to, I don't know why. If anyone said anything. I don't know if Dan said anything or if George said anything. I didn't see any. Yeah, I didn't say anything. So I don't know. Maybe we missed something. If you know, let us know in the comments. Yeah. It just, it was just very weird, given the state of the bullpen and given how really relatively easy, uh, the last, uh, you know, the last time. through the lineup was for for george it just kind of a weird decision in a one-nothing game

without your your your daddies in the bullpen to try and hold on there i just it's just like yeah you know maybe if george is still feeling good like again if george says you know i can't or whatever for whatever reason doesn't matter it's like okay well you're done like there's but given the circumstances that was a very weird time to kind of stick to your guns yeah my my best guess is that they just decided pregame no matter what he's throwing on roughly 80 pitches and then he's done. Six innings, just like. Yeah, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, I don't know.

I don't know if that's true. I don't know. I don't know if he's only going to throw 80, like, whatever. Whatever. It would think, again, thankfully, we'll never know how, uh, Dan and company would have handled those last two in a one nothing game, but, uh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that was, there's not my favorite move.

Uh, but, uh, again, offense. you know, eliminated all doubt. And so that made the next two innings very easy. Yeah, probably would have seen Rucker in the 8th, if we're being honest. That probably was going to be the move,

which. Rucker in a 1-0-0 game in the 8th? Yeah. Yeah, why not? He's actually been like, okay. Like Rucker, he had the disaster in Cleveland. Yeah. But, like,

typically he's been fine. But, like, I just, I mean, look, sometimes, you know, the marries have kept relievers around that we're like, why are they keeping this guy around? And then they eventually figure it out with the guy. So I don't know. Maybe it's a trial and error thing. Maybe it's just like kind of the rocky road that we have to travel to something better here, Michael Rucker.

I don't know. We'll see. How about Will Cox and Rucker both looked good last night to close it out? It's amazing. it's amazing how like confident you can be when you have an 8-0 lead sure yeah that helps

yeah it's also you know very hard to rattle off you know 5 plus runs 6 plus runs 7 plus runs in a single inning at T-Mobile Park specifically so you got that big of a lead feels pretty pretty safe feels like there isn't even much of a chance

put it down the middle of light here boys yeah yeah um by the way tonight we're getting at least Luis Castillo versus Edwinner Royal and maybe

Noel V Marte. We'll see if he's in the lineup. Obviously also Gino. Yeah, but they were traded for each other. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I mean, I don't know. We'll see if Arroyo's in the lineup. But basically four years to the date. Pretty close, yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, we're, uh, we're going to be baseball. Yeah. How can you not be romantic about baseball? You know, and good for Edwin, a royal because you know it was a little bit of a struggle there for him for a while in the reds organization like torres labrum or something right and and he missed a whole year and was that like no lv no we got popped for uh peds right yeah yeah i think i think a royo did yeah royo didn't play in 2024 yeah i think he tore up his shoulder

yeah i'm i'm happy for him a royo as you may or may not remember tie i was a big fan of his in that draft year it was the same year they took uh was harry right uh uh yeah uh yeah Yeah. Yeah. So I was a big fan of him when they took him. And so, yeah, it's cool to see him in the big leagues. And that trade worked out very well for the Mariners. And we'll see, it's still too early to tell if it worked out well for the Reds.

But they got two of those pieces up at the big league team right now. And they're in there, you know, find out mode right now, see if that was a good trade for him or not. But certainly a very good trade for the Mariners. Yeah, unfortunately. Go ahead. Might be Luis's last start ever at Team Mobile Park. as a mariner at least maybe maybe yeah we'll we'll see yeah something something to keep in mind hey if if you're going to the ballpark tonight maybe just you know keep that in the back of your

mind and you know whenever he comes off the field maybe you know give him a nice little least top 50 mariner of all time and show him show him some appreciation yes absolutely he's earned it yeah and it's possible and and my guess is he's here throughout the the the remainder of the year because again we've talked about it sure it's very hard to see a little bit today yeah also talked about that with davish and he kind of he pretty much agreed with us that it's just like it's hard to actually see a trade there's like one team where you're like maybe yeah yeah so yeah so so my guess is louis is going to be here probably but maybe not yeah but you know just uh yeah you never know you never know so just keep that in mind here

we're at the stage now where a trade could happen literally at any moment so yeah well it's be on high alert and always just be aware of what's what's going on around for all we know in the seventh inning today we're going to see gino walk across the field and and going to the mariners dugout or something probably not but you know like that we're in that season so you never know but yeah this could be louise's last start as a kiddo grademan is out playing catch in a nashtros yeah i'll never forget that tweet yep yep so i don't think the mariners won't do it it's just a matter whether or not they've gotten far enough down the road on the trade top Abraham Toro is walking over to the Mariners took out

So obviously, the Mariners just saw the San Francisco Giants, but they are still keeping an eye on at least a couple of their hitters beyond that series. According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, who's essentially the Giants version of Ryan DeVis, she is fantastic. The Mariners and the Phillies had representatives, pro scouts, at last night's Giants and Royals game,

and Helio Ramos and Casey Schmidt. are two of the guys that Phillies and the Maras were keeping their eye on in particular. So obviously both of those guys, right-handed bats, Marys in the market for a right-handed bat. Ramos this season, he's kind of turned it on a little bit more as of late, I believe, slashing 276, 310, 469. That's a 112 WRC plus. And Casey Schmidt having a breakout season where he is slashing.

275-304-482, the 304, that low on-base percentage due to the 2.6% walk rate that he is rocking. I believe Aaron mentioned on the broadcast. He had just nine walks going into the Mariners series. He walked once in the Mariners series, I think, because now he's at 10, right? Or maybe he walked last night against the Royals. I don't know, but he's at 10. I walked last night, but yeah. Yeah.

But he's got a 114 WRSC plus 1.8 at 4. this season and he has played all over the place for the Giants. He's played some left field, some second base, some third base, some first base, some shortstop even. He's DH as well. And he's really tapped into the power this year, 19 home runs for Schmidt. And Ramos obviously has some pop as well, only nine home runs this season, but back-to-back 20-plus Homer seasons in 2025 and 2024.

Both of those guys are under club control through 2029. So you'd be getting them for three more seasons after this year if the marries did trade for either of them. So that's going to be expensive. So what do you think about both of these guys? And then, you know, what do you think this might cost the Mariners if they actually went down this route? Yeah, they're not very meritori is the first thought. Schmidt, obviously good athletes got pop. He has some versatility, which is nice.

But that on base percentage, that walk percentage is out. liar like awful. So that's not very marinary. And Ramos, abysmal defender. Honestly, kind of brandy light, minus a lot of the athleticism.

And he also has kind of a low fringe league average on base percentage. So he's only got a 4.8% walk rate this year. Just not very marinary. But that does also speak to the lack of options, I would think, on the market that they kind of have to expand their scope.

And I guess the good thing is is that, you know, they're looking at, you know, two guys that we typically wouldn't say. And by the way, two guys who are going to cost a little something, something. Like they're not out there. I mean, to be fair, keep this in mind. They were playing the Royals last night. They out there looking at Lane Thomas. I mean, I don't know what more you can learn about Lane Thomas.

But like there are people in Kansas City on that roster. So it does make sense to send two sellers. are playing each other down there, and it's an easy trip for the Mariners to make, and there's pieces on both sides. So, for all we know, they were, like, Schmidt, yeah, sure, we're looking at them, but, like, we're really here to look at Strom and, you know,

maybe Ramos. So who knows, but, yeah, both of them not very marinary. Both of them, not the cleanest fit, but anybody you acquire right now is not going to be the cleanest fit, just because, you know, anybody, hey, well, he's going to play second and like okay well what do you do about cole young he's like oh he's going to play third it's like oh are you are you sitting down colt or is what are you doing with jp it's going to play right field it's like okay well you have can zone you have raily and donovan's going to factor in here

two at some point so like basically that you can do that with any player you acquire though that's just kind of where you're at and and i guess it's good that the managers are looking at guys who presumably they would want to play every day in those two guys or most days at least uh so yeah it it's both interesting that they're looking at those two guys if that is indeed who they're looking at at. And it's also a little bit odd that they're looking at those two guys because they just

don't really check a lot of the boxes for the Mariners. But they are club controlled and we know that will always be Jerry and Justin's preference. But again, like we do need to keep in mind they were playing Kansas City and they are also an obvious seller who have pieces that Seattle

would in theory be quite interested in as well. Yeah, that is a great point here. Yeah, Lane Thomas is a guy that you and I both have had our eye on here with Royals. Yeah, there's probably a couple of guys in the bullpen. Yeah. Like maybe Eric Miller in the Giants bullpen. Yeah.

Also, it's worth noting that now I don't know if this is from the original article or this is the speculation of MLB trade rumors, the writer. They did say that like the Giants trading, one of those. two guys or both of them may be contingent on the team, the acquiring team taking one of their bad contracts, which at that point, it's over. The Mariners aren't taking on Matt Chapman's contract. The Mariners aren't taking on Raphael Devers' contract. You know, they're not going to take Willie Adamas, obviously. So, yeah, at that point, it's done.

You're done. But if that's not the case, then, yeah, if your top prospects the Giants want, they kind of want to look at more of a long-term thing, the Mariners can accommodate that. if it's major league pieces that the Giants want, maybe Emerson Hancock comes into play here. Yeah. Like Hancock for Schmidt seems about right to me. Kirby seems like a bit too much.

But Jim Bowden actually proposed this, what, yesterday, two days ago. Yeah, the George Kirby for Casey Schmidt and Eric Miller. Yeah. So, yeah, I mean, again, I think if I'm the Giants, I'm not planning on competing. in the two years I would have George Kirby, but the Giants are also pretty poorly run.

So who knows what they, if I were the Giants, I'd be much more interested in like a Las and Farmello type of package, which because of the club control, and this is why I ultimately hesitate on trading for either of these guys. I feel like there's a really good shot. What you're paying for here is actually club control rather than impact. The actual player.

Yeah. Right. And so like, because like, obviously, a player with three years is worth more than just about any player with one year. But if Casey Schmidt had one and a half years of club control, would you give up, you know, Lazz and Farmello for a year and a half? I probably wouldn't.

So I, but I have to give that up for three. You know what I mean? Like obviously the rental trademark is completely different. So you can't even like, maybe only had two months left. But yeah, just kind of a thought exercise. Like if you're not willing to do something for a year and a half of a player, are you willing to do it for two years? Are you willing to do it for three years of that player?

Is it just an automatic yes? Because I think, again, the big value of Ramos and Schmidt because of their profile, you know, is a low on base, swing at everything type of guy. I think the value there is that you have them locked in for the next two or three years. and it's one less thing you have to do in the off season, which is probably going to be shorter than others. So, yeah, I always want to be very careful when we look at these guys with extra years of club control

because I want to make sure that the price we're paying is for the player, not just because he's got, you know, two more years of club control than high france. You know what I mean? Like, so, yeah, I would just, I've certainly interesting players, certainly players to keep an eye on and the Mariners should be looking at them. Mayor should be looking at just about anybody who could be available because they need to cast a wide net because they actually need to get stuff done this summer regardless of how difficult it's going to be. So they should be looking at those guys.

Are either of them actual likely mariners? I don't think so. Yeah, no, we'll see. But, you know, again, you know, we get asked a lot like, you know, or like we see comments all the time of like the mariner should trade, you know, this top 10 prospect or they should trade from their rotation or they. should trade Ryan Sloan or whatever for a bat right and it's like okay who who is it by the way if it's not James Wood you can stop with the Ryan Sloan conversation right there right exactly but like so like you know what that is even worth you know well then Celestine on this market might be might be someone with multiple years of club control like a Ramos like a Schmidt

so sure it's just yeah it's just one of those things and plus you always have to ask like is like let's say it's it's Ramos right yeah is Ramos worth Belnan Celestin when you could just again just in theory when you could go get Taylor Ward or whatever for Mason Peters you know what I mean it's just like obviously that's not ideal but like just that is is it worth the extra your pain for the two years versus what you could just give up and get in a rental is the production that much better I don't think it is in most cases. But we'll see what the mayors want to do again. They're always going to be looking for the long-term club control.

That's their preference. But they showed us last year they're more than willing to go out and get rentals. And it just there's not a lot of, you know, bats that are club-controlled and available this year. And the rental market kind of lacks the ceiling, at least on the offensive side of things as last years. All right. That is going to do it for our. our show.
