Starting point is 00:00:00 These names could land on the Mariners radar if they get on tendered this winter. Colby, hit it. You are locked on Mariners. Your daily Seattle Mariners podcast. Part of the Locked-on Podcast Network, your team every day. Ahoy, sailors, it is Wednesday, October 7, 2026. My name is Tadding Azales, and I'm joined as always by my co-coast. Colby Patneau.
Starting point is 00:00:28 This episode is brought to you by Fanduel. Make this your most rewarding season ever with Fandual Rewards Club. Every week, check the Fandul app to see what's waiting for you. So yesterday, we looked at the Mariners arbitration projections from MLB trade rumors.com. Today, we're going to look at their projections for the rest of the league. And Colby has put together a long list of names for us to go over of who he either thinks is at risk of being non-tendered this winter or who he would trade for at their current armed projections. So Colby, get us started. Yeah, so just real quick caveat.
Starting point is 00:01:05 are like 20 names listed here. There are several others that I could have put on the list, but we only have 30 minutes. And guys like Esauk Paredes and Jeremy Pena are probably a whole episode on themselves. And we also just talked about them like a few days ago. So yeah. Yeah. As the eliminated playoff team pool, I cannot believe that team made the playoffs. Anywho.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Gross. So, yeah, we're those, those team or that, those two guys are not on this list, but they are number one and number two by a wide margin. Maybe not even just in the ARB discussion and like who might be available this winter and, you know, how do they fit the Mariners? Those guys might be the top two players. But anyways,
Starting point is 00:01:48 so first up on my list, I have a guy who's definitely getting on tendered and that would be Joe Adele. You guys know Joe Adele. He had the single greatest defensive performance in the history of baseball for an outfielder, which is ironic because he can't play defense. He was traded to the Guardians. The guardians are not going to pay a platoon guy $10 million. There's just no way that's going to happen.
Starting point is 00:02:11 So especially, you know, considering they have other guys who are ARP eligible that they would pay over Adele. Now, Adele does get two years of club control left. I believe he's got, I think he's ARP two. No, he's got one left. Okay, okay, I was going to say, wait a minute. But anyways, like, yeah, could he fit for the Mariners? Maybe he's athletic. He hits bombs.
Starting point is 00:02:35 you know, he's really good against left-handed pitching, but he's a terrible defender. He's only ever been okay against Ritey's at best. You know, the strikeouts are kind of a thing. At $10 million, no, at, you know, five, six, maybe.
Starting point is 00:02:54 There is kind of like a younger, more athletic ref Snyder vibe where it's like, yeah, he should probably only TH against lefties. And it's like, do you really want that same like archetype on your roster granted that this one is like you know 27 28 not 34 35 so i mean that that's a positive but i just but again it's another player who only has one path to contributing doesn't help you and you know defensively doesn't help you on the base pass it's just he's got to hit lefties he doesn't really pair that well with michael
Starting point is 00:03:30 Royal, which, you know, is another thing. Like, so maybe. I like, look, there's a path where, you know, you build the team a certain way, Adele could make some sense. So just keep that name in the back of your mind, but he's getting not tendered. Yeah. Next up on my list, I have Jaron, uh, Duran, uh, yeah, he's going to make $11 million this year. Well, after a 69, nice, but not nice, WRC plus season. Yeah. Again, it's, I'd say he's making 11 million. He's not. going to. The Red Sox are not going to pay him 11 million. Nobody in baseball is going to pay him 11
Starting point is 00:04:04 million. He just went 2020, but he had a 69 WRC plus. Now like that's crazy by the way. It is. One over is 21 steals. Think of how bad Julio was this year in his 2020 season. Significantly better than Duran. So yeah, I mean like look, he's young. He's athletic. He I think he has a six-win season under his belt, right? I'm like, he's had success at the major league level. But if you're talking about reestablishing a culture and you're kind of like moving on from Randy because of some of the, you know, not off the field stuff. And Duran has like technically not off the field stuff. But like it was on the field.
Starting point is 00:04:50 But yeah, some things that like Seattle fans especially would not be super stoked about. Now again, he's a young guy. He could mature, could getting out of. Boston entirely just help him, like mentally. Like, yeah, Boston's not an easy place to play. And he's young enough. And again, like, there is talent there. So could it, could it happen?
Starting point is 00:05:13 Maybe. I'd say it's unlikely. But it's certainly not going to happen at 11 million bucks. So I think that he's going to end up being a free agent. He seems like a guy who probably needs to sign a one-year deal and go somewhere that's a little less intense and just kind of regain a love for baseball if he has one. So, you know, I don't think Philadelphia or Boston or New York is a good spot for him. You know, maybe, maybe Minnesota or something like that.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Yeah, I mean, like, look, at least keep him his name in the back of your mind. He does do some things that the marriage would be interested in. And he actually does pair okay with like a Michael Oroyo, if you're going to go. And he feels like a really good bounceback candidate. So yeah, next up, we have a couple of Yankees here. You might have to trade for both of these guys, but there's a non-zero chance they get DFA at this number, at their numbers, and that's Jose Cabiero, and that's Anthony Volpe. Cabby is supposed to make 3.7.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Just doesn't hit, but he plays a lot of positions pretty well, and he steals bases, and the Mariners could really use that on their bench. Volpe is kind of a, at least in my mind, he's a stopgap shortstop until you feel like Colt Emerson's ready. But Volpey's also young enough with, you know, a decent enough major league track record that he could end up just being your shortstop for the next couple of years. And Emerson could be your third baseman or, you know, flip it around. Volpe's a really good to figure.
Starting point is 00:06:44 He's got some pop from the right side. The Mariners liked him going back to his draft year. So, yeah, and obviously Cabrero already been here. it would be interesting to see how Cabiaro is like antics if that's something that they might want to like steer away from a little bit but this team could use a little bit of edge and I don't think it's ever like directed negatively towards his own teammates yeah those are good kind of antics those are the kind of antics
Starting point is 00:07:10 that I actually am very open to yeah to this club yeah cabby at 3.7 Volpey at 4 either one of those guys probably would be your everyday shortstop to start the year Cabby is a very similar idea to the Dubon idea. Yeah, yeah. Yep. Dubon probably a better hitter.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Cabby going to steal more bases. Yeah. Help you better on the bases. So yeah. He also doesn't, he hasn't played any center, I don't think, right? No.
Starting point is 00:07:42 He played four games at center. Sure. Well. Yeah. He's a really good defensive shortstop this year, though. Yep. And he's played a bunch of outfield. he's played, you know, all over the infield as well.
Starting point is 00:07:53 So, yeah, like, he brings that edge to your clubhouse, but it's not, like, directed at his own teammates. So I think that's fine. So far as we know, who knows what happens behind the scenes. But, yeah, Cabbiero and Volpe, both guys, I think fit the Mariners very well. Yeah. Yeah, I love the Volpe idea, which I think if any Yankees fan heard me say that, they laugh in my face.
Starting point is 00:08:14 But I love the idea of bringing them into a new scenario, to a, you know, to a lesser pressure ride. environment and seeing if you can get him to take that next step. At the very least, I feel like you're going to, you're going to get a good defensive player who can make some things happen on the base pass.
Starting point is 00:08:32 Who has maybe a little bit upside offensively. We'll see. Yeah, it's not too dissimilar from the J.P. Crawford idea that kind of kicked off this whole, this whole era, really. Yeah. So, yeah. Got time for one more? Yeah, let's do one more.
Starting point is 00:08:50 All right. This is a name. I don't know for sure that he's not going to get tendered. The number is like, but I do think the Mariners like him. And we have talked about him in the past a little bit. And that is one Mr. Cutter Crawford,
Starting point is 00:09:05 who is set to make $2.8 million in arbitration. That's not a huge number for the Red Sox, but he has not been healthy this year at all. He's fallen way down on their depth charts. He hasn't pitched since 2024. Yeah, exactly. So, like, I think there's a pretty decent chance. They're just like, look, no, we're going to nontender you.
Starting point is 00:09:25 And then maybe they try to get them back on a minor league deal or something. But I think that's where Seattle could swoop in. There's some Chriswell here in that, like, yeah, he started before, but he could also kind of give you length out of the bullpen. Assuming he's healthy, obviously, we don't know. But I do think the Mariners like Cutter Crawford. I'm pretty confident they have, at least in the past. And they kind of need both rotation depth and bullpen depth.
Starting point is 00:09:48 and Crawford could help in both of those areas at 2.8 million. Again, I don't know if I would trade for him at that price, but is this a guy that if he gets non-tendered, like, could you give him a major league contract and that be enough for him to sign with you? Yeah, I think it could be. So I would keep an eye on Cutter Crawford. I like that idea on a kind of a veteran minimum type of deal.
Starting point is 00:10:10 And, you know, even if it was a couple million bucks, that's not, you know, insane money to take a shot on a pitcher like Cutter Crawford, who's been pretty solid in his major league career. All right. Coming up, we will continue to go down the list that Colby has here of non-tender candidates. It only takes a few seconds. really helps us out. All right, let's continue going down the list of non-tender candidates or guys that you would want to trade for at their current R projection, Colby.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Yeah, so next up, we have a trio from Detroit. Now, I would be interested in trading for Riley Green. I just don't know if he's available. Detroit's kind of weird. They're out of crossroads. They just traded Scoobel, like they had a bad year. Which direction are they going to go? Are they going to kind of soft reset? Are they going to try and reinvest? It's hard to say. So if Riley Green is available, he's definitely on this list as the guy that I would trade for. Maybe even Kerry Carpenter also is ARB eligible and he would be on this list.
Starting point is 00:13:02 But I didn't want to assume that they would be available. So I just stuck with the non-tender guys here. And there are three that stand out. Zach McKinstree set to make $5 million. Matt Veerling, about 3.7 is the ARB number there. in Spencer Torkelson at 7.7, there's a 0% chance they tender a contract to Torkelson at that number. Even after a 115 WRC plus season, 26 homers? I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:13:29 It's just, it's been so inconsistent for him and he's only really had like one plus year. Yeah, at 7.7, I don't think that's the number they do. But like we said, if they're kind of doing the soft reset thing, then yeah, giving Torkelson one extra year like to try and, you know, extract value. I just don't think they're going to be able to trade them for much, and I don't know that they're going to want to pay him that. But maybe. McKinstree, no shot. He was terrible this year.
Starting point is 00:13:55 But he is that kind of utility player that I had heard in the past. The Mariners kind of liked. He didn't have a good year, but if you're looking for a guy who can be the shortstop, at least, you know, in the short term, until you feel like Cold Emerson's ready. McKinstree can do that. And, you know, he has a chance to be a decent, you know,
Starting point is 00:14:13 hitter at least. And then Veerling is the guy, we've talked about a lot over the years is kind of that, you know, right right handed platoon kind of versatile, good athlete type of player. You can play all three outfield spots. Let's play some third.
Starting point is 00:14:29 Yeah. Yeah. So 3.7 million. The tigers aren't going to pay that for Veerling. Memory serves he didn't have a particularly good year this year. 61 WRC plus and 291 played appearances this year. But anyways,
Starting point is 00:14:44 yeah, Beerling, I could see the Mariners. being interested in that. But McKinstree is kind of like the stop gap, shortstop, who then kind of becomes the utility guy. Yeah, I could see Seattle being interested in that. Torkelson, I don't see the fit just because he's first base only, and you kind of already have that lockdown. But, you know, maybe the Mariners are more open to having a full-time DH.
Starting point is 00:15:09 And at that point, Torkelson might make some sense. But kind of a tough fit there. But McKinstree and Veerling, yeah, I could see the Mariners. sniffing around both of those guys. Yeah, McKinstree was incredible defensively this year, terrible offensively. It was a 65 WRC plus, but defensively plays multiple spots. He was really good in right field this year. 13 defensive runs saved and was also plus two and outs above average there.
Starting point is 00:15:39 Yeah, he is kind of the perfect stopgap, shortstop, and then turn into utility guys. if slash win Emerson proves he's ready for a second second shot so yeah that that's kind of a theme here with a lot of the guys we're talking about like yeah that guy could fill in for so and so so yeah next up we have a guy that we heard kind of mentioned with the mariners at the trade deadline it's Lucas Urseg he was awful this year just awful there's zero chance that the royals are going to to, you know, tender him at $2.8 million. This is a project that you sign out on the league minimum and you put in your system and you hope that he can figure things out. There is a connection between him and one of the mayor's pitching coaches. So, you know, there is that element to it. But again, Erseg, this is not like the daddy you need to add to the bullpen. This is the flyer you take.
Starting point is 00:16:40 And you're like, yeah, let's see if we can turn him into a doggy because he was. in 2025 he was pretty good this last year not so yeah that's a minor league free agent after he gets non-tendered and the Mariners have some relationship built in there so that's just a guy to keep an eye on
Starting point is 00:16:56 yeah that feels like a guy that probably does get brought in this year we'll see though yeah you never know next up we have Trevor Larnick set to make 6.3 million bucks from the twins he's not a bad hitter he's really not, but he doesn't hit lefties.
Starting point is 00:17:16 He doesn't really play much defense. And the twins were willing and ready to trade him this summer, ironically for Brian Brayu, but that deal got next. So it does kind of feel like the twins are ready to move on there from Larnik. The problem with the Mariners is like, do they want another left-handed hitting corner outfield platoon bat? Like if you're going to pay, Larnick is set to make, I think, 6.3 million. Like that's his projection.
Starting point is 00:17:45 Wouldn't you just rather literally pay half of that for Luke Rayleigh? I mean, isn't that better? That's exactly what I was about to ask. Yeah, because like I don't think Larnick's getting non-tender. This is the guy that you would have to trade for. And yeah, do you like him twice as much as you like Luke Rayleigh? No, if you're looking to trade or possibly non-tender, Luke Rayleigh, because he's, you know, too redundant with other pieces on your roster, namely Tom Cairn's own.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Like, yeah, at Larnick, unless you, you really think you can help him hit lefties or there's something you can change to really make him pop like just why. But I just thought that there was a decent chance that he would be non-tendered or traded and he's not a bad player. He's not a bad hitter. So, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:28 the mayor's local guy. I know he went to Oregon State. I don't know if he is from the area though, but I know he went to Oregon State. Yeah. He's from California. West Coast guy. not that matters but yeah uh let's do one more
Starting point is 00:18:48 all right uh we'll go with another lefty guy who probably doesn't fit the roster very well but it's almost certainly going to get non-tendered gavin sheets at 6.5 million uh first base slash outfield but you really don't want him playing in the outfield um kind of a fan favorite down there in san diego uh he absolutely crushes at T-Mobile Park. He might be the single best hitter in the history of T-Mobile Park. But again, like, you want to pay double what you would just pay Luke Rayleigh? Like, no, you probably don't. But, yeah, Sheets is interesting.
Starting point is 00:19:28 At the very least, hits bombs, has an approach that the Mariners probably like, and he destroys T-Mobile Park. Like, he makes T-Mobile Park look like Coorsfield. So there is that element to it, but again, also very similar to Larnick. You're really going to pay him twice. what you're going to pay Luke Rayleigh. I doubt it. All right, we'll wrap up Colby's list here in just a moment,

Starting point is 00:20:59 by grabbing yourself a t-shirt, hat, or sticker on our merch store at Ahoy Sailors-shop. Dot forthwall.com. Links in the description of this episode. All right, Colby, who's next on your list? Yeah, next up, maybe my favorite name
Starting point is 00:21:15 in terms of fit on this list. and that's Brandon Marsh of the Phillies. Set to make 8.3. I think the Phillies will probably pay that, but you could also trade for him at that number, and it wouldn't be the worst. I just think he pairs really well with Michael O'Royo. If the plan is to have Oroyo be a part of your Major League roster
Starting point is 00:21:38 at the start of next year, and we've talked about like, hey, you really need like that guy who's just sitting behind Arroyo who can take over those duties full time, If Arroyo falters, like Marsh can do that. He's an okay defender. He had a bad year this year, but he's an okay defender overall. He's played all three outfield spots. You really want him in a corner, but he can handle center field in a pinch.
Starting point is 00:22:00 And he hits right-handed pitching very, very well. So he is really a pretty natural fit, I think, with the Royal. He's an excellent base runner, not a great base stealer, but he is, you look at the base running metrics on Sivant. He is 90th percentile or better, basically, every single year. Again, it was banged up a little bit. year didn't perform all that well, but that's a by-low opportunity.
Starting point is 00:22:21 And I just think he pairs very, very well as kind of the fourth outfield slash co-starter in left field with Michael Oroyo, and I think he lengthens your lineup. And again, you want to talk about doing little things better? The Mariners need to be a better base running team.
Starting point is 00:22:37 There are very few players in baseball who have consistently been better base runner than Brandon Marsh. Yeah, solid bounceback candidate at the plate. you know, 115 WRC plus season before this year, had three consecutive 100 plus WRC plus seasons before this year, 124 back in 2023, 106 in 2024. Like you said, really good on the base pass.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Typically not as bad as he was this year defensively. So we'll see if that's a trend or just an outlier. Yeah, I like that as an option to pair with a Royal. Maybe not at $8.3 million, though. And we'll see if the Phillies maybe. choose to non-tender him after how bad of a year this was for him. Yeah. Plus,
Starting point is 00:23:21 you know, Philly's kind of stuck a little bit at their payroll level right now. And they've already talked about trying to trade Turner and Harper. Good luck to them. But yeah, so it's a possibility. Yes, he does strike out a little bit too.
Starting point is 00:23:34 But again, if you strike out, but you still hit 280, like who cares, you know, so. He substantially lowered the K rates, though,
Starting point is 00:23:42 over the last two years. He was in the 30 plus range. for the majority of his career until 2025 where he lowered it to 25.9% and then 25% flat this year. So it's kind of interesting. Yeah, I think Marsh is a really interesting target. All right.
Starting point is 00:24:02 Next up, this guy's definitely getting on tendered. Camillo Duvall. Yeah, set to make 6.6 million. Nope, not this version of him. Uh-uh. So he's probably a minor league free agent signing or a, you know, a very low guarantee, lots of incentive type of reliever. And again, like the Mariners, yes, they need to go out and get these established like dogs and daddies. But like you're also going to have to take shots on guys like this who used to be at that level.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Because as we've talked about already and as we've been working through our individual offseason plans and I'm sure ties discover this too. there's not a lot of those guys out there. You know, it's really hard to be like, okay, they need to add, you know, two daddies and a dog to their bullpen. It's like, okay,
Starting point is 00:24:49 who are they that they can afford? Is this a new D on the scale? DeValls? Maybe, maybe he has to get there first. But yeah, no, this is just a,
Starting point is 00:24:59 like, it's a lottery ticket. It's a low risk, you know, minor league dealer are like one to two million bucks with a buttload of incentives. But yeah, he's definitely going to get non-tendered.
Starting point is 00:25:09 And he's been good at, for chunks of his major league career. He just wasn't really this year, and he needs some work. Seattle can't really get guys on pillow contracts offensively, but should they be able to get some pillow guys on the pitching side of things? Yeah, they should. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:28 Yes, with the whole scale and all that, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But anyways, Deval does make some sense in that regard. Okay. Who you got next? I throw him on here mostly for comedy. Nolan Gorman Yeah, he's going to make
Starting point is 00:25:48 Because I know he's Ty's favorite player Like I know how much you love Nolan Gorman One of the few times I've actually been right In my pessimism on a player, so 3.4 million No shot This guy's probably He's either getting a minor league deal
Starting point is 00:26:04 Or he's going to get like a one year $1.2 million deal from just a terrible team like the Rockies or something like that and then he's going to try and reestablish them. Oh, yeah, he's definitely a rocket. That makes so much sense. Yeah, like he can hit tanks, but he's going to strike out a ton and he does not play good defense.
Starting point is 00:26:22 But he's versatile because he can play second and third and first. And it's like, can he though? Can he? But yeah, he's going to get non-tendered. And like, again, if the Mariners want to stash him in Tacoma, if they can, then like fine. Okay, whatever. But,
Starting point is 00:26:40 uh, he was actually, he was actually plus two in defensive run save this year at third base. Zero ounce above average. So he was like an average third baseman this year in a 500 ennance. I think we've solved third base for 2027. Ty. Nolan,
Starting point is 00:26:56 boom. Um, but yeah. I'd rather have Brett Bandy. Also not on this list. Uh, but yeah. I,
Starting point is 00:27:05 I, he's on there just because. Okay. And the Mariners like to take shots on former top prospects who kind of flamed out in their original stomping grounds. And Gorman definitely follows that trend. Love him on a minor league deal. They give him a major league deal. I'm convinced they think he's the third baseman to start next year. And that would terrify me and also make me mad. So anyways, threw him on this list for you, Ty. All right. This guy's also on the list for you. Ernie Clement. Ah, there we go. Yeah, 7.6 million bucks. Yeah. The Blue Jays probably tender him that.
Starting point is 00:27:44 But I don't know. He finished the year as what, an 80 WRC plus? 80 WRC plus sub 300 on base percentage. I don't know. It's almost like he should have been an all-star team. He also regressed a little bit defensively this year as well. I mean, he was still plus three. Yeah, he was still plus three defensive run saved over
Starting point is 00:28:05 at third base he was zero at short stop with a negative three ounce above average negative two defensive runs save with a negative three outs above average at second base so yeah pretty regressive year for him defensively on top of the offensive issues
Starting point is 00:28:21 which like wow surprise surprise Ernie Clement actually isn't the hottest sit around planet earth it just so happens to be only against the baroners in the playoffs wow crazy or for like three weeks in the month of May and that's enough to carry him to the most votes in the All-Star game because that's something that should have happened.
Starting point is 00:28:38 But I like this idea just to have him be Cole Young's backup. Yeah, it's just, it's like the whole like sign Colin Kaepernick to be Russell's backup because that means you win. You officially ended the rivalry and whatnot. Like, yeah. Or, or,
Starting point is 00:28:53 you know, have the, the Jets sign Russ to backup Gino Smith this year. Yeah. So anyways, yeah, Ernie Clement, I'm not a huge fan,
Starting point is 00:29:03 but Ty likes them. So I throw him on the list. not at 7.5 million for like a bench player. I like the 2025 and 2025 version of Bernie Clement. I don't really like the 2026 version of Bernie Clement for this team. Yeah, it's kind of like betting on a bounceback, which definitely possible. Like if he could do what he did in 2025 and I'm not including the playoffs here, 277, 313, 398 with really good defense.
Starting point is 00:29:32 He was a three win player. Like, yeah, that's absolutely the type of player I would love to have on the Smerners ball club. Another stopgap starter at the beginning of the year who transitions pretty nicely to being a role player who moves around and still plays three or four times a week. Yeah. Speaking of, his teammate, Josh Smith, set to make $4.7 million in Arb. I can see him being non-tendered. They traded for him this summer, but didn't really get going. You guys know Josh Smith with the Rangers for a long time.
Starting point is 00:30:02 Can kind of play everywhere. the bat goes hot and cold. So I think he's a solid fit. It'd be a lot better if he was a right-handed hitter, but I think he's a solid fit at a decent price. And you know, you kind of trust him to at least keep his head above water. Yeah, multiple spots.
Starting point is 00:30:19 So it also fits pretty well with the, with the Royo and left if he's not, you know, able to play third or whatever, for whatever reason, like Smith, again, a lot of these guys, you've noticed a trend. They are either here to kind of stop gap,
Starting point is 00:30:33 between Emerson and the big leagues or to pair with Michael O'Royle. Like a lot of these guys are on this list too, like, hey, let's protect our young guys from having to be starters right away. And so obviously that's the trend here. And also some bounce back candidates in the bullpen type of guys. One more on the non-Arb list. And then I have three potential trade candidates. This guy also could be a potential trade candidate,
Starting point is 00:31:00 but Garrett Clevenger. of the raise set to make 3.7 wasn't as good this year. Really took a step back. He's been very good in the past. The raised bullpen is loaded with options. And typically they will, and they always have a 40 man crunch. Like they could look at Clevenger and be like, you know, at 3.7. It's not that you're not worth it.
Starting point is 00:31:22 It's just that, you know, we have Seymour. We have Buzer. Like we have these other lefties. We have a bunch like, let's just, you know, let's just pocket that money and, you know, spend it elsewhere. And let's let Clevenger be a free agent. And we've talked about Clevenger last year. Like he certainly has the potential to be daddy.
Starting point is 00:31:39 But, you know, this year he's kind of been more of a between like the dude and the dog, like somewhere in that range. But I think he would be. I mean, almost five walks per nine. Yeah. The strikeouts. Yeah. But like when he's good, when he's on, he's very good. And I think that's the type of chance the Mariners should take.
Starting point is 00:32:05 So, yeah, keep an eye on Clevenger. He was also hurt this year, right? Because he only threw 41 in his. Yeah. Yeah. Little bit. I just feel like he's gotten passed up by a couple other lefties in that bullpen. And they're going to have, they have 17 ARB guys.
Starting point is 00:32:18 They're going to have to DFA a couple of these guys or trade a couple of them at least. And I just feel like he's probably the best blend of upside and relative cost. So Clevenger, that'd be very interested in. All right. And then, yeah, the three trades real fast here. Stephen Kwan, I think we all knew that was, 11 million bucks, makes a lot of sense. You can play all three outfield spots.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Plus defender, good base runner, not a base dealer, no power. That's kind of the tradeoff there. One year, 11 million bucks. Yeah, we can have conversations about that. These next two probably not going the direction, people thought. Bryson Stott, 9 million bucks. He's a good player. He's a really good player.
Starting point is 00:33:04 He's not an all-star, though. And he is in the last year of his club control with Philadelphia. He has played third base. He did play third base this year after they acquired a rise. He's a plus second base. Honestly, Stott is kind of who Cole Young should be eventually. Very similar type of players. So I would acquire Stott actually be my third baseman if he were made available by the Phillies this year.
Starting point is 00:33:27 He's a rental. Again, the back side was a four-win player this year. I didn't realize that. Good year for him. he's one of those guys where it's like his DRS and his outs above average or like, so like on baseball reference I think he was like a
Starting point is 00:33:40 two win player this year. So there's like that wide gap of value based on the defense. He was a negative nine at second base and then a negative one at third base defensive run save but then plus eight outs above average and then plus one at third base out above average. Right. I think you talk
Starting point is 00:33:58 to people around the game they would tell you that he's a good defender. So you know, it's kind of one of those things where the metrics they don't line up, and that happens. It happens with Cole Young. So who's to say? But I think you just watch him. You'd say he's a good defender, and he can handle third base. And again, the bat's not a typical profile for third base, understandably, but you're not going to get the typical third baseman.
Starting point is 00:34:19 I'm sorry, that guy does not exist. Like, you can't acquire that guy this year. Unless it's going to be wrong with him. Right. Something is going to be wrong with him. Either he's going to be a very bad defender or he's going to be a less than ideal offensive fit. the right-handed hitting, you know, 35 home run, third basement, who's not going to hit, you know, 218 with the 40% strikeout rate.
Starting point is 00:34:39 That guy is not available this winter. So anyways, stop, could fit there. And the last step here, I have Trevor McGill, who is going to make $8 million for the Brewers, and he is a rental. You only get him for one more year. This is exactly the type of player at the Brewers trade. And you want to talk about adding a daddy to your bullpen? this is daddy's daddy okay uh out there in milwaukee so he's a guy i could definitely see the mariners
Starting point is 00:35:08 if they want to get aggressive on the bull daddy's daddy that's crazy granddaddy um so i think we found a new tier new yeah wow look at that you guys didn't think the daddy the dude daddy scale could get any better well it just did wait till we get to god daddy um that's drawn Miller yeah grand daddy shirt coming soon to the mariner story. Granddaddies. But yeah, so McGill, I think there's a real good shot. The Brewers trade him this winter just because they always do. They always trade these guys in the last year of their club control.
Starting point is 00:35:45 And they can get something pretty hefty for granddaddy McGill. And the Mariners are a team who really need that bullpen arm. They might just be willing to give up the price to acquire him. And so, yeah, keep an eye on Trevor McGill this winter.
