As we've talked about on this show, many a times, there aren't many options at third base. This is also not just a Mariners exclusive issue. A lot of teams are scrambling to find third base help this winter because, yeah, there aren't a lot of good third baseman in Major League Baseball. So I'm keeping this to external options. Yes, obviously like Dillamore and Awesome Shenton.
Starting point is 00:01:43 We can talk about those guys, but that's not that fun. Now, with everything that I just said, I actually have quite a few names that I'm going to go over today. Obviously the top five, but I also have a few honorable mentions, if you will, guys that didn't make the list, guys that I want to acknowledge why they're not on the list, basically. So yeah, let's get into those.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Let's start with Alex Breggman because, yeah, that's not happening. He's going to get too much money, too long of a contract. Plus he's got this elbow thing. So, yeah, it's just, it's not happening. Jordan Westberg is also not happening. You're not getting him for Luis Castillo. And frankly, I'd be stunned if the mayor has traded one of their other four starters. Unless they get Roki Sasaki, maybe.
Starting point is 00:02:33 But even then, I think there's a pretty good shot. that they're going to run a six-man rotation with Sasaki. Whatever the case may be, I just, I highly doubt that Westberg is going to be a mayor. I know he's a popular name that gets thrown out a lot in like mock trades. We see him a lot in Fan Fiction Friday. It's just, that's not going to happen. Jordan Westberg's not going to be a mirror. Nolan Aronado, seen his name a lot as well.
Starting point is 00:02:56 But he's going to be 34 next year. He still owed like $52 million over the next three years. And that's not to mention all the deferred. money after that as well. But what really knocks him off of this list for me is the significant regression we've seen from the bat each of the last two years. Like, look, if it was one year, one down year, fine. But we have two consecutive seasons now of him basically being a league average bat.
Starting point is 00:03:25 And this year he didn't even slug. And like, how good is the defense going to be as he gets into age 34, age 35, age 36? Right. How much is that going to be able to carry? him. I also don't think that he's just suddenly going to figure it out offensively in Seattle, of all places. So, yeah. No, I wouldn't trade Luis Castillo for him. I know that's a popular thing that gets thrown out a lot. I think anyone who says they would is simply looking at the name and not the player Aronado is. Yeah. Not to mention with the declining bat, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:03 there also comes a bit of a declining glove and he's still very good over there at third base. but he's not, you know, platinum glove caliber like he used to be. And if you can't slug and you're just a really good defensive third baseman, you're a $30 million, Josh Rojas. Who cares? So, uh, Yohamankata, uh, also didn't make the list. Apparently the merits have looked at him. And, um, I'm honestly terrified.
Starting point is 00:04:31 This is who ends up being their third baseman this year. Uh, because I can already see them, you know, trying to sell us on, how good he was the last time he was healthy, which was three years ago. So, yeah, I'm really not interested in finding out if not only he can stay healthy, but also produce in a way that he did, like, again, three, four years ago. Yeah, I mean, like, if it costs you two million bucks and he's the 26 guy and you're like, you know. Yeah, I mean, sure.
Starting point is 00:04:59 At that point. Some opportunities and, like, he steals the job, blah, blah, blah, blah. Like, sure. Yeah, that point is a glorified minor league deal. Yeah, if he's not like your primary solution at third base, or if, say, you do something at second base, like something meaningful at second base, which apparently they're not going to do. Like, you get like Nico Horner? Are you okay with Moncada being their answer at third? I guess, but. At second base is what you're looking for then?
Starting point is 00:05:27 Yeah, I don't, yeah. Basically, I don't want Moncada unless it's like under very specific circumstances. Yeah, yeah. uh lastly michael garcia uh i could also see this happening and uh i'm a big i'm a bit concerned it will um because look garcia i get it a lot of people like him i understand why i understand there's some upside here but uh he just doesn't really move me like yeah he's 24 really good athlete but we have two full seasons now that says he's a well below average hitter.
Starting point is 00:06:08 And again, if you're not going to do anything at second base this sweater, I have no interest in taking a shot like this at third. So, yeah, again, I understand why some people want him, but I'm personally out on Garcia. I kind of like the idea of Garcia as your second baseman. Like, if you get a good third baseman, like, okay. Then Garcia is a good, good defender too. He's Josh Rojas. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:31 More athletic, steal some more bags, but even less power, believe it or not. So yeah, he Garcia is a very nice bench guy to have. Move him around utility type. Yeah. Again, under a specific set of circumstances, sure, fine. But like as the answer at third base, if you're not going to do anything at second base, no, hard no for me. All right. So let's let's get into the top five here.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Number five, Willie Castro. Haven't talked about him in a while. We talked about him quite a lot to start the off season, but over the last few weeks, haven't really talked about him. He's better suited to be a super utility, and his bat doesn't profile well at third base. Like it's not a prototypical third base bat. But he's a good player overall.
Starting point is 00:07:16 He's due about $6 million in his final year of ARB. And the twins want to cut payroll. You know, I get a versatile player who allows me to keep all options open for the rest of the off season. But if push comes a shove, he's my third baseman to start the year. And I feel pretty. good about baking on him to give me at least slightly above league average production at the plate and on the base pass as well and again if i do something else at third or second or whatever
Starting point is 00:07:41 then i got a guy that can play all around the field pretty well yep doesn't block anybody doesn't preclude you from adding more infielders uh can steal some bags it's got a little bit of pop from the left side uh and can play again all over it can play all well can play seven positions essentially. And I get him for one year at $6 million, like, yeah, he's $2 million better than Josh Rojas. I mean, he's more than $2 million better than Josh Rojas, but at $6 million,
Starting point is 00:08:13 that's a really good price. You're probably not going to find a better value than that without dipping into the pre-arb guys who are going to cost you like top-level prospects. Castro, not going to cost you a top-level guy. So coming into number four, Isak Paredes. I kind of feel like
Starting point is 00:08:33 Paratus is going to get dealt this winter the more that I think about it. Maybe not to the Marys, but we know they like him, or at least they did a year ago. He was bad with the Cubs. And it seems like Matt Shaw's ready for the majors,
Starting point is 00:08:46 but I don't see how they can get Shaw enough playing time unless they trade somebody. I also just thought about Shaw in this spot on the list, but I went with Paredes instead, because he's a proven major leaguer. And again, we know the mayors have had interest.
Starting point is 00:09:04 Obviously, I've had some concerns about how his bat would play at Timovol Park. And that was before we saw him struggle with the Cubs. So there's some red flags here. I also don't know what Chicago would want in return, frankly. But if it's what Tampa was asking for him from Seattle, then I'm out. I'm not trading one of the pitchers for him. But if they're open to something else, yeah. I'd keep an eye on him, you know, just given the history.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Yeah, it feels like like Dancy Swanson's not moving off a short stop anytime soon. So Shaw has to play third or second. It does feel like they'd rather move Horner. At least we just heard his name more. But yeah, if Paredes is the guy and he's available. And again, like I'm not trading Miller or woo or, but I don't know if it's like, hey, do you guys want Luis Castillo and like, I don't know, Cole Young? or whatever for Paretis,
Starting point is 00:10:01 and it's like, maybe I'd still be really concerned about replacing Castillo, but yeah, Paredes is a fun guy who, we know the Marinas have had interest in in the past. We know it didn't really work very well for the Cubs. They might just be willing to cut bait right there, because it really honestly didn't cost them a ton,
Starting point is 00:10:16 like Christopher Morel, had a really bad year this year. And so they obviously were very willing to move on from him. So the Cubs are an interesting team just overall. But yeah, Paratus, the Mariners have had interest in the past, including this last summer. So, yeah, I could see them
Starting point is 00:10:31 Certainly back and checking in at the very least. They should. All right, so we'll get into my top three here in just a moment. But first, a reminder, this episode of the Locked-on, Marrars podcast is brought to you by game time. So I used to live in New Mexico, and down in New Mexico, there are zero pro sports teams. And a lot of bands and artists I listen to skip going there more often than not. So when I moved to Toronto, where there's a baseball team, a basketball team, a hockey team, even a soccer team. and there's great music being played every night in the city,
Starting point is 00:11:02 I was right in my element. When I want to catch a ball game or my wife and I want to see a band, I always get my tickets through game time. And that was the case well before game time sponsored our network and before I even joined the network, because it is truly the best ticketing service out there, hands down. I truly, truly believe that. And now it's getting even better thanks to game time picks.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Game time picks filters out the fluff to show you only incredible deals on great seats so you don't have to waste time searching through thousands of tickets. I can just go on the app. It'll show me the best deal right away. It'll show me the exact view I'll have. And most importantly, it'll tell me exactly what I'm going to pay with game times all in pricing. So there are no annoying little fees that pop up at the last second. Take the guesswork out of buying tickets with game time.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Download the game time app, create an account, use the promo code locked on MLB, that's LOC, KD, ON, MLB for $20 off your first purchase. Terms apply. Again, create an account and redeem promo code L-O-C-D-O-N-M-L-B for $20 off. Download game time today. What time is it? GameTime. And you're listening to the Locked-on Mariners Podcasts. It is Top 5 Tuesday. I'm giving you my top five external third-based options for the Marys in 2025. Just talked about Willie Castro at number five, East Lock Paratus at number four. Going to get into the top three here. Just a second. But again, reminder that we are going to be announcing the winners of our giveaway tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Colby has already picked the three winners. We are then going to put them in a wheel and spend that wheel a couple of times on the show tomorrow to determine who gets what from the tiers that we hit on over the course of our giveaway. So look forward to that. All right. So let's get into the top three here. number three for me for top five third base options external third base options for the mayor is
Starting point is 00:13:02 Bobauchette I know the Blue Jays said they don't intend to trade him yeah I don't buy it I think his time in Toronto is up and I think the Jays would be fools to hold on to him heading into the season it just comes down to the money
Starting point is 00:13:17 for the mayor is here and the only way this probably works for them given all the reports we've heard or projections we've heard rather about their payroll situation is if Toronto, you know, eats the money or takes on one of Garver or Hanniger. So if they do, that means Bichette's going to get pretty expensive in terms of prospect capital, which might be appealing to Toronto, but it's also a major risk for the
Starting point is 00:13:44 mayor's considering he has the one year left and he was really bad this year and hurt. Plus, in this case, you'd be asking him to play a position he hasn't played before. Now, I think he'd be fine doing it. but you're already asking him to bounce back offensively in a contract year. There's a decent shot he's going to be pressing because of that. So is stacking a position change on top of all that the best thing for him? I don't know. But if you can get the bat going again,
Starting point is 00:14:12 we're talking about basically adding another Randy or Rosarena to your lineup. So I think you have to at least consider it. Yeah, I think one of the other concerns is the clubhouse thing, how it fits in there. He would not be leaving Toronto on the best terms with, you know, that clubhouse. Now, I'm not there. I don't know how bad it is.
Starting point is 00:14:34 And there's a huge range of like why a guy might disrupt a clubhouse from just doesn't want to be there to, you know, like other like actually really bad things. So it doesn't sound like Bichette's on that end of that end of the spectrum. It just seems like a guy who just is ready to move on and his friends. frustrated by the lack of success the team has had. So, yeah, he'll be an interesting guy. And I do think Toronto should trade him. I think Toronto is kidding themselves that they think they can,
Starting point is 00:15:08 if they think they can compete in the next couple of years, because like even if they add like Juan Soto, they're still two everyday players and a whole new bullpen away from truly competing. So, yeah, I think they're kidding themselves. if they honestly think they have any business competing for the American League East next year. Yeah, and I think the statements they've made about Bichet, it's just posturing. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:34 All right. So number two, Brendan Donovan. If you watched our offseason plan, you already know why we like Donovan. In fact, we like him so much. We were willing to trade Cole Young for him because, frankly, you're kind of hoping Young turns into Donovan one day. As a hitter, I mean. but you know you sacrifice the the three extra years of club control young has to get that kind of player now instead of waiting for young to hopefully develop into that second base is more so donovan's home in the infield when he does play in the infield but he's played some third and he's been fine there again it's slim pickings but donovan's a good all-around player he's going to get on base he's not going to strike out he'll hit for a high average give you you know 10 to 15 home homers and 30 doubles.
Starting point is 00:16:21 And for that reason, he's going to be heavily sought after this winter. And there's no guarantee the Cardinals even move him. So negotiations could get to an unreasonable territory for the mayors. But in a vacuum, I think he's a really good fit for what they need and the style of offense they want to play. Yeah. Spent most of this last year as a left fielder. So there is a versatility there as well. So again, he doesn't, if you can get him without moving Cole Young, he doesn't block
Starting point is 00:16:49 Cole Young, you can move Donovan to third or left or, you know, you could move Young to short. Like he doesn't block anybody. Not that that should be a big consideration for the mayor. The mayor shouldn't be concerned about blocking prospects in 2025. That's just not a thing anyways, but just in general, that's not a thing. But especially for this club, it's not like, you know, you have Julio Rodriguez waiting in the wings. It's Cole Young. Good prospect.
Starting point is 00:17:15 Good player. Yeah. Probably not a six-win guy like Julio is. So you don't have to worry about that. And, yeah, I mean, I think Donovan fits, you can hit at the top of your lineup. You can hit at the bottom of your lineup. And you feel totally fine that he's going to get on base at a good clip. You know, he's got some pop.
Starting point is 00:17:32 He's traded some of his on-base skills for a little bit more power. But, yeah, Donovan's a good solid player. Three, three and a half wins, you can bank on it. And he's only going to be making a couple million bucks this year. So it's a great time to go and get him, even if the cost is something you're a little bit uncomfortable with, but there is obviously a hard out line on Donovan. I don't think you're given. You're not giving up any of your pitching.
Starting point is 00:17:58 You're not giving up Emerson. You're probably not going to give up Las. I think, you know, I would consider it if I were the Mariners. I don't know if they would. But yeah, it's not like this is the guy you go all in for. That guy doesn't exist, not at third base, not this year. No, no. if it wasn't for the money aspect of things and how complicated that makes it
Starting point is 00:18:21 Bichette would have been number one on this list but instead number one is it's a boring pick it's a player that a lot of people are talking about right now it's out Badey right oh no you you shut your mouth is he not on your list I'm so tired of hearing about Brett Bady I thought you love Brett Bady so exhausted of hearing Brett Betty's name. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:48 No, he's not. He's not. And he's out of options. So he was like the 12th best prospect in baseball in 2019. Like, what are you talking about? He's really good.
Starting point is 00:19:02 You know who was even higher than that in 2013? Yeah, that's right. That's right. And that worked out great too. Yeah, totally. All star.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Right. So, yeah, Alec Baum. admittedly, he's number one on this list because, yeah, it seems pretty clear he's going to get moved this winter. And it's hard to say that about really anyone else I've mentioned today other than the free agents. So, yeah, you probably already know the deal about Bome because, again, everyone and their mother has talked about him in the marriage these past few weeks, us included. And as we've talked about, I have concerns, you know, just like Colway.
Starting point is 00:19:41 I mean, Bome was a below average hitter from May onward. past year. There's some potential character issues. His defensive metrics saw a massive uptick. How real is that? But we've also seen what taken a young, talented player out of Philadelphia can do for them. And I think his bat could actually play fairly well at Team Mobile Park. So, yeah, I'd be lying if I said I'd get excited about them acquiring Bome.
Starting point is 00:20:11 Like, if I saw it, I'd be like, okay, cool. they have their third baseman. But I am intrigued by him and he seems like a realistic, reasonable target for them, which might not be the case for some of the other guys on this list. Maybe all four of them. Like, honestly, if you ask me right now, who's going to be the mayor's third basement in 2025 of like the external options, at the very least, I'd say either Bome,
Starting point is 00:20:45 Yoha Mancada or Michael Garcia and of those three I'd far in a way she was boom so yeah sure I mean personally I would just pick you know like Jose Ramirez but whatever yeah yeah same same but I mean like I guess I would like be willing to settle like if I can't get Ramirez I guess I'd be willing to settle for like Carlos Carrillo Deverea or Royce Lewis I guess would be fine but yeah Sure, no, let's settle for Michael Garcia. Neat. Yeah. Yeah, I have concerns about what the ultimate answer is going to be. The second base, it's going to be Ryan Bliss and Dylan Moore, and we know that will work out gangbusters. So it's going to be fine. It's absolutely going to be fun.
Starting point is 00:21:34 Who doesn't want Ryan Bliss and Michael Garcia hitting eight and nine for you on opening day next year? Are you kidding? Like that, that's like eight wins right there. Yeah. Can you at least get Willie Castro? Yeah, please. Like, just literally anyone on the top five, skip one of them. Yeah, I, like, I don't need it to be an exciting move to, like, break it down as a good move.
Starting point is 00:21:59 But, like, none of those guys. I just needed, I just needed to be an established major leaguer. Yeah. Like, if they acquire, boom, I'll be like, cool, that makes sense. Like, I'm not going to be hyped over it. No. But, like, of your list, the guys that I would. be like legit hyped over if the mayor is acquired probably boba chet and that's it and that's like
Starting point is 00:22:20 dependent totally on how much they give up to get them yeah um like yeah that's dependent on the money how that impacts how you know what else they can do the rest of the off season obviously and then again there's still like a massive risk that yeah maybe he just sucks now yeah i don't i don't think that's true. I think he's going to be good again. 26 years old. Seems like. Yeah. Yeah. But also again, you know, contract year, is he going to be pressing offensively? Now you're
Starting point is 00:22:52 probably going to ask him to make a position change, all that. Yeah. So I don't know. There isn't a perfect solution. That's, you know, what we've been saying on the show. You can trade peanuts for Michael Garcia or you can re-sign Jorge Polanco at $8 million.
Starting point is 00:23:10 Those are your choices at third base. What are you doing? $8 million for Jorge Polanco And I might trade for Michael Garcia I don't know Brett Beatty or Jorge Palanco How much do you hate Polanco Jorge Palanco Ty's nemesis all of a sudden is Brett
Starting point is 00:23:33 Beatty and I'm here for it I just don't get it I don't get it he's out of my early options he sucks What are we doing? What are we talking about here? I like how Ty finally has a guy there's no there's no guarantee even makes it through camp
Starting point is 00:23:47 Ty hasn't had a guy like this why is he like the headliner of a Luis Castillo train for some of you are you out of your minds see it's it's nice that like there's a player that tie hates even though he doesn't really hate the player but like yeah it's nice that he's a hater for another player because usually that's my thing yeah and he can get lonely like Ty hasn't been a hater of somebody since Tommy Lestella
Starting point is 00:24:12 I think. Yeah. Man, if only I was podcasting during the Andrew Romine era, that would have been generational. Oof. I mean, it's tough to be generational when I'm sitting right next to you. Sure.
Starting point is 00:24:27 But you would have been a perfectly good Robin. Sure. All right. Let's get into your top five batting stances of all time. And I might be playing a role in this list as well. So you guys. You guys will see in just a moment. But first a reminder of this episode of the Lockdown Paris podcast.

And you're listening to the Locked on Mariners podcast. It is top five Tuesday. And now it's Colby's time to shine. with his top five batting stances. Now, you might be wondering, Ty, why are you standing?
Starting point is 00:25:49 Why do you have a bat in your hand? Well, that is because I'm going to try and do my best to reenact these batting stances. That's Colby List. And I don't know what's coming. So, yeah. Yeah. Let's get into it.
Starting point is 00:26:07 Sure. First things first. I would recommend not taking a swing there, but no this this segment is also uh more appropriately called colby's top five batting stances that tie tries to reenact while trying not to break his ceiling fan that's going to be pretty difficult uh this is also top five badden stances that colby would like to see tie try to recreate uh that that also factors in here okay um but yeah so let's start with some honorable mentions I'll zoom by these.
Starting point is 00:26:44 So if you don't know how to do them, just don't worry about it. Just save it for the top five. Sure. So yeah, obviously, you know, this list is going to involve some older players, but not like super old because I didn't see those guys play. So it's a little hard for me to consider those iconic. But most of the batting stances in today's game are more or less the same. Like there's really not that many unique batting stances and current players.
Starting point is 00:27:07 We don't see too many open stances or closed stances, like very, very little deviation. So most of these are players who played in the 2000s. In fact, I think all of these guys did on my top five, not in my honorable mentions. But honorable mentions here, this is an interesting one. It would have been in my top five, but I made a differentiator here. Ken Griffey Jr. I feel like the swing and the follow-through are more iconic than the stance by itself. So that's why it didn't.
Starting point is 00:27:41 Yeah, it's kind of tough to tell. you got to get the lower app. Well, here's, here's the problem too. This is as far as my headphones go. And Ty doesn't know the list. So he's got to be able to do so I'm kind of, I'm kind of like stuck in this one area right now. Almost like you're like a box of for the batter.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Like yeah, a little bit more like yeah, it's pretty close. So yeah, I thought Griffey could go in there. But I think the swing and like the follow through. like that's the silhouette of Griffey right it's it's the follow through and the the the bat drop like so yeah i decided not to put him on the top five easily could have been um he was for a while and then i decided i feel like the swing is more of the the thing there um we also have chuck knoblock oh he didn't make it no he did not you'll see why you'll see why yeah good old chuck uh we have jason kipniss uh who is very similar to
Starting point is 00:28:42 knob block yeah it's like it was like more like this and then he would kind of like do a little bit of that and then he would cock the bat and yeah get in his load and all that stuff uh Jeff bagwell you remember bagwell stance yeah he was like super crouched yep but still his back was like almost upright which makes it different from Ricky Henderson I don't know if you remember Henderson he would like bend over the waist and squat down really low and then like explode up and out. Yeah. Yeah. Kind of like that. Yeah. Yeah. Rod Carew.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Kind of similar to the Jason Kippenis thing. Lay the bat, like almost parallel to the ground. By the way, I'm using the Mike Cameron bat that I showed off last week. And, you know, it has a break. And my headphone cord literally got in the middle of the break. If you guys are watching on YouTube, you're listening. You might want to watch because Ty is making it. Oh, yeah. This is definitely an episode you want to watch.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Sure. Uh, and then the last of my honorable mentions, uh, Julio Franco, you remember him? Yeah. What is his bad stance look like? But way out, like almost bent at a 45 degree angle, hands like up near his head and he would just kind of straighten up and boom like, look it up afterwards. Uh, you'll, you'll remember when you see it. You're like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:02 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So let's get to the top five. All right.
Starting point is 00:30:07 Uh, coming in at number five, I have. have Craig counsel. Yes, before he was a manager. I can't do this with my seal. I know. Anyways, he would stick his hands way above his head with the bat. Here, I'll do it. I'll do it without the bat. This is where it would be really great if we could have like reference photos or like play video without getting demonetized. But you know, yeah, different story. Yes. But before Craig counsel was, uh, you know, a manager, one of the better ones in baseball, he was a world series hero when two. World Series, believe, scored the
Starting point is 00:30:41 game-winning run in the 2001 World Series. I believe he's the guy who scored on Gonzo's bloop single. Yeah, yeah, I think so. He might have to also score the game-winning run in the 97 World Series against the, for the Marlins. Yeah, I think that might have been him too. Like, Rintrea got the hit.
Starting point is 00:30:58 I think counsel might have been the guy of the score on that. But anyways, a nice little player, crazy batting stance. Like, arms basically extended all the way up, bat above his head. Like, it was, it was, It was nuts. It was a pretty good player. Pretty good player.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Yeah. So coming in at number four here, it's pretty iconic, especially in these parts. I think number four, Ichiro, each row is batting stance. The whole setup, the, yep, the arm tug, knees kind of touching almost and just kind of.
Starting point is 00:31:33 Here's me trying to do it in my very limited space. Knees touch. Yeah, it's really the body. half you have to get for each row because the top of bat really close to his head and then just kind of right to the ball very very iconic batting stance and obviously the i don't what do you call it the the jersey tug the bat pointing straight out towards the pitcher like that that really sells it and that's that's why like the actual batting stance when he gets preloaded not super special it is somewhat iconic but it's the it's the jersey tug it's the the bat out towards the pitcher um fun
Starting point is 00:32:07 piece of trivia for me at least video game trivia one of my favorite video games growing up was Sly Cooper which was made by Sucker Punch which is in Seattle and if you let Sly just kind of stand idle sometimes he'll do the Eichero stands yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:32:23 nice so it's pretty iconic and I felt like I had to have a mariner on here and since I removed Griffey from the list originally Griffey was in the top three and each row was five so but I made those changes so coming in at number three we have Tony Batista.
Starting point is 00:32:38 Yeah. Here you go. Well, yeah, but now you have to torque your front. Because like, if I'm the pitcher, you are like, both of your feet are facing me. Yeah. And then you're just taking your top half. Yeah. And you're just rotating 45 degrees.
Starting point is 00:32:55 And that's how you would stand. It's insane. Who is the other guy that you showed me yesterday, Aaron Rowan? With the butterfly stance? You can't really see it here. The knees are like, they're not, they're facing. Yeah, it's like sitting crisscross applesauce, but standing up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:10 That's Aaron Romo. But yeah, Tony Batista, just 50 years old, by the way. Really? Wow. Yeah. It hits 220 home runs in his big league career. Oh, wow. Yep, 251 hitter.
Starting point is 00:33:25 Anyways, coming in at, you'll definitely know these two. Coming in number two, I have Kevin Eucalus. Oh, yeah. The iconic bat slot. and then he has his like he has his like top hand like up here right it's like yeah I don't know like six inches eight inches above his bottom hand and then they didn't come together until he until he was in his load he would just slide that top hand down uh I think hitting coaches everywhere would want me to tell you like ignore the batting stances for a second guys because they all got to the same load point
Starting point is 00:34:00 right and that's the important part what you do when you start your swing matters more than how you stand there before the pitch is thrown blah blah blah heard that a million times yeah and yet some for some reason everybody always wanted to correct your bat in stance but anyways so yeah kevin euclis number two for me and the number one is is i think you know one of the more should i just start doing it yeah sure it's gary sheffield yeah like yeah uh just the bat like the stance itself really not that special pretty much straight up but it's the bat wrap over and over keep those wrists loose and dude should be in the Hall of Fame. It's insane that he's probably not ever going to get in.
Starting point is 00:34:41 But, yeah, dude was an incredible hitter. And, yeah, just the iconic bat. That's kind of what I think of, like, 2,000 batting stances. It's just Sheffield doing the thing with his hands. And then just unloading on baseball, just bat as quick as a whip and just, boom, 500 home runs. And it was a really cool stance. So, yeah. Sheffield, Euclis, Batista, Ichiro, Craig Counsel,
Starting point is 00:35:08 kind of defines the era that I watched baseball, and I fell in love with baseball in that era. So it makes sense that that's my top five. I'm sure there are a lot of other ones. I know that like, like I said, Babe Bruce is pretty iconic. Ted Williams, but I feel like guys like Williams and Griffey,
Starting point is 00:35:27 those are more swings than they are like actual batting stances. Sure. That we remember. So, yeah. know, maybe cutting hairs a little bit, or splitting hairs, cutting hairs. Terms and descriptions. You also said Chris Crass applesauce. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:44 Okay. Yeah. But I'm trying to make sure I'm watching you try and do these bad instances. It's another terms and descriptions there for you. It's all right. Yeah. Well, you looked ridiculous, by the way. But also, you know, it's, you can only go like, what, a foot away from your laptop.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Yeah. I should. Yeah, I should have bought a. an extension cord for these. I mean, I had to wear these headphones instead of my normal earbuds for the sake of length. You know, you know what we should have done is I should have sent you this list and you should have had your wife video you like outside doing them and then we're going to just thrown them up on the screen. We can still do that in post. We can still do that in post.
Starting point is 00:36:24 You know, if you're not too late too much work. Too much work. Exactly. Too much work. Surprise surprise. Lazy tie strikes again. But yeah. I thought about doing a video where I recreate every single like current Mariners batting stance and for Cal I was going to put a cushion in my pants.
Starting point is 00:36:40 There you go. Yeah. There you go. You just could never do Julio justice though. I think I could. I think I could do Julio stance. Fine. You can finally start posting on our TikTok like you were supposed to do.
Starting point is 00:36:53 Yeah. But anyways. Follow us on TikTok for zero videos. Yeah. Do we even have an account? I think I think the chill, like us telling Jerry or me telling us. on Jerry about chills is on there. FYI, the Locked-on
Starting point is 00:37:08 Mariners TikTok account does exist. Yep, it does. We have 106 followers. Wow, we have that many followers on it. Yes. Our most viewed video has
Starting point is 00:37:19 400, it's the Jerry Chills, me, one. 843. We're almost TikTok payments. Oh, there we go. There we go. So yeah, if you're on TikTok, if we get to a thousand
Starting point is 00:37:34 followers on TikTok, Ty will start posting somewhat regularly. Sure. Thank you for volunteering me for that. We're never going to get to a thousand on TikTok. Don't worry about it. We're only at 100. And I didn't consider considering we only got like 200 subscribers with a Cal Raleigh.
Starting point is 00:37:52 Did we even get 200? We got like 100, right? With a Cal Raleigh signed bar up for grabs. Yeah. To be fair, to be fair, if we had to run the giveaway when I wanted to, I think we would have done more because we were closer to the end of the season. But we had some issues that have since been resolved. So, you know, give them credit.
Starting point is 00:38:13 They figured we just wanted to run it at a really bad time for that department that we needed. So yeah. Yeah. But I didn't even know we had a TikTok until now. So if we get to a thousand. We will do a Fortnite dance. When we get to a million. How about if the mayor?
Starting point is 00:38:34 How about if the mayor is when the division? I don't know any Fortnite dances. I'll teach you one. I don't think you do. I think you're overestimating. You can do the default dance. I don't know what that is like, which is just like clap,
Starting point is 00:38:50 point. It's, it's very simple. The people want to see you do it. One person. Yeah. But that's the same person that had you sign a Dillamore card. That person is very special in the locked on mirrors lore.
Starting point is 00:39:06 Are they? Because I've never seen them again. So just saying, but I'm starting. Maybe you haven't seen them, but they've seen you. That's, that's possible. That is possible. Um, but yeah, no, like if we get to a thousand on TikTok, then Ty will start posting somewhat regularly. And if we get to 10,000, I'll do a Fortnite dance. All right. Fine. There you go. Good luck.
Starting point is 00:39:35 So that is going to do it for us. Thank you so much for joining us here on the Locked-on Mirrors podcast. For Colby Patnaud, I'm Tiding Azales.
