Starting point is 00:01:22 and you can sign up for a free seven-day trial. So the Mera's offense put together just four hits today. They struck out 12 times. What else is new? Walk three. against Spencer Erigetti, who is apparently a real person. They struck out eight times against him,
Starting point is 00:01:40 which ties his career high, yada, yada, yada. We've seen this story before, right? And also general rule of thumb with the 2024 Mariners. If they're playing a day game, odds are it's probably not worth watching. And today was another example of that being the case.
Starting point is 00:02:00 I don't really have any other thoughts on this offense. other than I'm tired of watching them look like this against bad pitchers. So unless you have any additional thoughts on this offense, Colby, tell me about Logan Gilbert today. Well, on the offense, I just, I'm really sick and tired of watching the same thing over and over and over again. Like, let's be clear about this. This team is not enjoyable, like, to watch.
Starting point is 00:02:27 Like, just aesthetically, they're a terrible baseball team. Yeah, they pitch pretty well, but, you know, they don't hit, they don't hit home runs, they don't steal bases, they're not freaky athletic. They're just a dreadful, dreadful watch. And when they put up efforts like they did today, it's just, you know, further amplified that you have a guy who's spinning, you know, average curveballs in the middle of the plate and cutters down the pipe and you can't even like move it forward. Like it's one thing if you just, you're hitting line drive and deep fly ball and they're just getting caught and you're just getting, you know, some bad luck and all that. But no, you're having like horrible at-bats. You're not working counts.
Starting point is 00:03:04 You're going down on three or four pitches. You're missing multiple cookies in the same at-bat. Eric Getty was not good today. He was in the middle of the plate all day. The mayor's offense was just significantly worse, which, you know, I didn't think was possible, but this team is just full of surprises. And they're not always good.
Starting point is 00:03:21 So, yeah, the offense, I'm just, I'm tired of watching it. I'm tired of, you know, what's wrong with it? Hey, what are we going to do about it? like what can we i don't know i don't know what the answer is i don't know obviously you have to get new players like very clearly you have to make some additions to this club but i don't know why julio can't hit i don't know why cal raleigh can't hit right now i i don't know so it's just frustrating because there are no easy answers in front of me and and uh you know we're a third of the way through the season so it's not somehow some way they're in first place right and
Starting point is 00:03:54 if the if the mariners had a the 15th best offense in baseball just middle of the road, they would be 10, 12 games over 500 right now. They would be like nine games ahead of the Texas Rangers right now. They just had a league average offense. I don't even know how we're at this point. I don't even know how they're in this position because the pitching has also been streaky. It's not like the pitching has been consistently dominant. No, and the bullpen has certainly had its issues, although it was very good in this series.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Yeah, we'll talk about that a little later on. Yeah. So, you know, it's not like, you know, they've had injuries. They've had really poor performance just pretty much across the board offensively. Also, you know, we had two separate times through this rotation where all five starters were bad, like in a row. So the fact that they are four games over 500 is pretty impressive considering all of that because they really have no business being. But they have a really good record in one run games again, which is kind of like the 2021. team.
Starting point is 00:04:58 So is that going to be sustainable? I don't know with this bullpen. I don't think so. So you better find a way to score some freaking runs. You got to find a way to survive long enough until you can make some trades. Right. There are also four games over 500, despite having one of the harder schedules in the first six weeks of the season. So, yeah, I mean, it really defies logic.
Starting point is 00:05:23 They shouldn't be where they are. and if you're looking for some some cope uh there it is right like somehow despite all of this they're still in first place they've played a pretty difficult schedule they're still three days away from their first day off in two and a half weeks yeah so you know if you want if you want to you know have some copium there you go but i just i'm tired of watching this offense it is it is like going to the dentist every night for three hours it's terrible anyways Logan today not very good He was fine. He wasn't awful, certainly, but he only got two whiffs on 11 swing.
Starting point is 00:06:00 He threw 32 four-seamers, and he only got 11 swings. Now, he did get eight-called strikes. So he was in the strike zone. Only two four-seemers put in play. But, you know, overall, just a 22% whiff rate on the day, just a 29% called strike plus whiff. Velo was fine. You know, he threw a couple nasty splitters to get Altova each of his first two times up at the plate. He was fine.
Starting point is 00:06:23 you know, not quite what you want Logan Gilbert to be, but certainly not bad. It's nearly a quality start. You know, it'd be interesting to see how this game would have looked different if Bregman's home run would have just, you know, rolled back over the wall instead of hitting the top and rolling over it for the two-run homer. But yeah, overall, he just wasn't very good. You know, he didn't find a way to stop the bleeding. He wasn't, like I said, it wasn't awful.
Starting point is 00:06:51 but six innings, four runs, only five strikeouts, gave up a couple home runs, eight hard hit ball, nine hard hit balls. Like, it was just kind of a ho-hum day for Logan. And, you know, the offense is certainly going to catch most of the flack as it should for its performance today. But it's not like they wasted a brilliant Logan Gilbert start. He was okay. Looked a lot better in the first time through the lineup, second time through the lineup.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Just really didn't have any answer. consistently, you know, 40% hard hit rate, a total for this pitching staff. So Gilbert, you know, it was kind of weird game, too, because he was fastball slider, almost exclusively. Like, we've seen Gilbert Kitchen sink it before, and that was not his game plan today. 65% slider forcing combined. And then 12% curve, 11% split, 6% cutter, you know, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was fine. Like it was a weird kind of mix. The slider not that sharp. The spin rate was down on it.
Starting point is 00:07:58 You know, it was just kind of you got 28% whiff rate on it. It's not terrible. It's not great on that pitch in particular. So just kind of a weird day for Logan. He wasn't bad. He wasn't good. He just kind of was. All right. Well, let's talk about some positives from this series. Bullpen Really good in this series George Kirby was really good last night We'll dive into that a little bit more here in just a moment But first a reminder of this episode of the Lockdown

And you're listening to the Locked-on Mariners Postgame show. The Mariners are kicking off a weekend set with the Angels tomorrow night. You can catch all the action on the Marriss Home. hometown broadcast with Sirius XM via the SXM app. All you have to do to find that is search the word Mariners. All right.
Starting point is 00:09:54 So we got some of the negatives from today out of the way. Let's talk about the positives. They did win three out of four against this Astros team after all. George Kirby, let's start with him. His start last night. He was really good last night. You have some numbers that you posted from the lockdown marriage Twitter account last night. That's pretty encouraging, pretty interesting.
Starting point is 00:10:16 So tell us about those. Yeah, you know, we've talked a lot about what George's game plan is and how the league has adapted and how George just fills up the strike zone. And as a result, teams are just being super aggressive against him early in counts and not really getting into two strikes. So, you know, it was interesting. Kind of the conversation got morphed into this idea that we were saying like, oh, George Kirby needs to throw more balls. And it's like, no, not exactly. he doesn't need to walk guys, you know, to be effective.
Starting point is 00:10:47 He doesn't need to, you know, throw more balls on first pitches. It's just about expanding the zone, getting guys, you know, throwing pitches outside of the strike zone and still getting strikes on them. And so that's, you know, not something that George isn't aware of. That's not something that, like, anybody who pays attention is not, you know, unaware of what Kirby's problem is right now. And last night, it was interesting. He's going up against the Astro as a team that he has dominated pretty much his entire career.
Starting point is 00:11:15 by pretty much, you know, just filling up the strike zone and not really changing a ton when he faces them. But last night, it was pretty interesting. Through 94 pitches, by my math, 50 of them were thrown outside of the strike zone. So more than half of his pitches were not in the strike zone. They were balls. But he got 10 whiffs on pitches outside of the strike zone of his 15 total. So 67% of his whiffs were on pitches outside of the zone.
Starting point is 00:11:43 And yet he still didn't walk anybody. and he struck out eight. I had it as eight pitches or eight outs recorded on pitches outside the zone. I saw somebody say nine or ten. So it's somewhere in that range, eight to ten outs on pitches outside of the zone. And despite throwing 50 of his 94 pitches outside of the strike zone, he still threw 63 strikes, which is a 67% strike rate. So he expanded the zone.
Starting point is 00:12:10 The Astros did as well because, again, when your game plan is to be aggressive, in the zone and you get a pitch that's near the strike zone you're probably going to swing at it but obviously a pitch outside of the strike zone typically harder to hit harder to barrel up than a pitch in the strike zone so george expanded pretty early um you know he he uh kind of this is this is the counter punch to the uber aggressive strategy of just go up there and swing first pitch because you're probably going to get a pitch you know in the strike zone that you can hit okay well yeah go up there and swing first pitch but if i'm you know two inches off the outside corner and it looks like a strike when it leaves my hand, you're probably hitting that off the end of the bat, or I'm probably
Starting point is 00:12:48 jamming you, or you're probably going to, you know, just your, your angle is going to be off and I'm going to blow it by you. So, yeah, it was really interesting to see George last night work outside of the strike zone and still throw strikes, even on the pitches that weren't technically in the zone. And that's what we've talked a lot about him having to do. That's what we talk about when we say, yeah, he needs to, you know, he needs to, you know, pitch outside the zone. It doesn't mean he needs to throw more balls. It doesn't mean that he needs to be okay walking. three guys a game. It just means that, hey, you know what, these guys are going to be aggressive on on you because you have this reputation of being in the zone. So you can actually go outside of
Starting point is 00:13:23 the zone a little bit. By the way, you're probably going to get a couple more calls outside of the strikes zone than other pitchers are too because of your reputation. And I know that it shouldn't matter, but in umpire's minds, they see a guy, he has, you know, this track record of not walking guys and throwing strikes. Sometimes the zone gets a little bit bigger. Greg Maddox benefited from that for years. Jamie Moyer benefited from that from years. And George Kirby's at that point where he's throwing so many strikes that umpires and pitchers, if it's near the zone, probably a strike. So last night was certainly a step in the right direction for him. Also, through the slider really hard last night. It was up at 1.3 miles an hour. It settled in at 1.6 miles per hour over his norm.
Starting point is 00:14:07 So he also apparently said that he moved further to the first base side, I believe it was, on the rubber than he normally was. So he credited that as something that he changed. So something to keep in mind, obviously, it's not really a change until you do it more than once. But yeah, last night Kirby kind of did what we've been suggesting, what everybody's been suggesting. he needed to do. Expand the zone. Still, throw competitive pitches. They just don't always have to be in the strike zone.
Starting point is 00:14:40 You can get swings and misses. You can get out on pitches that are technically balls. Yeah, so really necessary wrinkle from George Kirby last saying. Hopefully that can continue because he's got to find a way to consistently be able to counteract the overaggressiveness of opposing teams or the hyperaggressiveness, rather, of opposing teams. Let's talk a little bit about this bullpen. This is probably the biggest takeaway from the series. They were nails in this series. I believe it was 13 innings pitch,
Starting point is 00:15:14 13 strikeouts, just one walk and three hits, including Kirby Sneeds, three innings of work today. And it was a little bit of everyone, right? It wasn't just Andreas Munoz, who had another really good series, but it was also, you know, Gabe Spire had a couple of decent outings.
Starting point is 00:15:32 Trent Thornton had a really good, outing yesterday. Mike Bauman last night and the 10th to keep that game tied in the top of the 10th was huge. The bullpen has been, it's surviving right now. And I think that's all you can really ask of it at the moment is that it survives until they can get it some help. Because again, it's, it's really not about the arms that are currently in the bullpen. Like I talked about yesterday. It's just about who's not in that bullpen right now and the roles that these guys are ultimately having to fill because of who's not in the bullpen right now. Right. Also, you didn't mention him, but Ryan Stanick getting the save against his formal team looked filthy on,
Starting point is 00:16:18 what was that Tuesday night? Yeah, that was Tuesday. Yeah. And we talked about that yesterday. We talked about him, yes, but still, you know, he looked really good. Saucato also only pitched once in the series, but. Yeah, only once, right? Just on Tuesday. He looked really good. It's a four game series. It's hard to keep track.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Right. Now, they all kind of blend together. But yeah, the bullpen's actually in pretty good shape right now. Also, like, I sneed through three innings today. I, you know, they have three lefties in this bullpen already. Clearly, they like Sneed enough. But I think he might be getting sent down because, you know, he's probably not going to be available for two or three days. Now, it's not the end of the world.
Starting point is 00:16:58 have seven other guys, including two lefties in that bullpen that they can go to. So maybe he's not a guarantee to be sent down. But typically, you know, you go 30 plus pitches and you're not going to be available for a couple days. More than likely, he's not going to be around. But we'll see what they decide to do. The Mariners have managed their roster, particularly like the 20 through 26 spots on their roster really weirdly this year.
Starting point is 00:17:23 Sneed is out of options, by the way. So he'll have to be DAA. Which fine. whatever. But yeah, it's it's been really good to see because honestly the bullpen was probably the biggest issue on the road trip. And that's not because the offense was really good on the road trip. It's just because with this offense, you just kind of expect it.
Starting point is 00:17:45 And there's not as many levers as you can pull to fix the offense right now as there is with the bullpen. And as much as you can try and build this great offensive team. And on paper, it looked like they did a pretty good job. But at the end of the day, the Mariners are pretty much are always going to be carried by their pitching. It's just the ballpark they play in. It's just, you know, that carries a lot of the weight here. It's that they play half of their games in that pitcher-heavy ballpark.
Starting point is 00:18:11 So pitching is always going to be vitally important to the Mariners. And, you know, the starters have been pretty solid this turn through. Pretty good, actually, this turn through. And it's been a bummer that the bullpen really hasn't been able to carry their weight. until this series, they were great. They covered three innings in three games and four innings in another game. And they allowed zero runs in the entire series. So 13 innings, no runs allowed against this lineup without arguably two to your best arms, maybe three.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Average and a strikeout per inning as well. Right. So this bullpen has been really, really good. You gotta give a lot of credit to Gabe Spire. They went to him a couple times against the Tucker, your on stack there. Yeah. And,
Starting point is 00:18:59 you know, he handled them, uh, well enough and got a little hell from Domkan's own, uh, was that yesterday. So yeah. But yeah,
Starting point is 00:19:08 overall, I mean, that's good because you need spire to step up because like we talked about you need another high leverage guy. And I'll tell you what, Trent Thornton last night in the seventh looked like a high leverage arm. Uh, yeah,
Starting point is 00:19:18 but he looks like a different, different pitcher when he doesn't inherit runners. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know what it is, but like, uh, Yeah, you don't want him coming into a mess.
Starting point is 00:19:29 Like, he's not a guy who cleans up a mess, which is why he's not a high leverage reliever because that's literally the definition of a high leverage reliever is this guy's going to clean up the mess and we're going to be fine. It's one of those things that like, right, if you go get Paul Seawald, right, just because he's a popular name, if you go get him,
Starting point is 00:19:46 the rest of the bullpen gets better just by his presence because now they're getting to do jobs that are easier, that they're better suited for, or maybe overqualified for based on their stuff. They get to do that stuff because in the eighth and the ninth inning or seventh and eight, whenever the, you know, the heat gets turned on the highest. We have Munoz, we have Seawald, Garcia, maybe Santos, like, whatever. We have this guy, Hellsley, it doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:20:13 We have this other guy that pushes everybody down a rung and makes their jobs easier. So it's amazing how like one quality player can completely turn a situation around and just take so much pressure of everybody else that they can play better. We saw us a little bit last year when the Mariners went out and they got Josh Rojas and they got Dom Kanzone and they had their really good months of August, everybody else followed suit and they were hitting really well. Why? Because well, one through nine was a threat.
Starting point is 00:20:41 So, you know, everybody kind of picked up the slack and there was no slack for any, nobody was, you know, burdened with having to carry the entire offense. And it's the same way that can happen to in a bullpen in much the same way where, you know, you bring in one guy, he picks up a bigger burden and everybody else, the load is lifted and they're able to do their jobs more effectively. So it's certainly something that the Mariners still need, despite as good as the bullpen was in the series. But it was nice to see because I think they gave up 20 runs in those 10 games on the East Coast. And then in these four games, they gave up zero. So pretty good bounce back. Well, speaking of adding some guys, some reinforcements,
Starting point is 00:21:23 obviously like we talked about in the first segment this offense could really use some help so let's talk on the highest of high ends let's talk about some big name trade targets in just a moment but first a reminder this episode of the last the terrorist podcast is brought to you by fanduel it's winner take all time in the NBA and NHL and fan duel's giving you a shot to bring home a big win of your own right now new customers get $150 in bonus bets with any winning $150 bet. And you are listening to the Lockdown Mariner's Postgame show. Once again, you can catch the Mariners and the Angels starting tomorrow night on the Marra's hometown broadcast and across this weekend with Sirius XM via the SX. Sam app all you have to do.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Again, to find that is search the word Mariners. So tomorrow, the return of a favorite segment of ours. Favorite show of ours. Yeah. Fan fiction Friday, it's coming back a week earlier
Starting point is 00:22:42 than we were telling you guys it was coming. Because. Partly because I'm probably not going to be around next Friday and we won't be doing a show next Friday. So I conceded to Colby that we would do fan fiction Friday this Friday instead. I only love the segment because Ty hates it so much.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Right. So some guidelines. If you're going to submit trades to us this turn on fan fiction Friday, I don't know how often we're going to do it. I don't know if it's going to be every Friday from here on out until the trade deadline. It'll be most Fridays, though, I would say at the very least. Okay. So let's get some guidelines out of the way.
Starting point is 00:23:23 we're not if your trade includes Fernando Tatis Jr. or Mike Trout or someone like making just an exorbitant amount of money that's just not realistic at all. We're not going to even bother. We're not going to even bother trading your trade. If it comes from baseball tradevalues.com
Starting point is 00:23:43 and you're only basing the trade off of the fact that, hey, the values lined up, the website says that it's a good trade. We're not, no, we're not doing that either. And thirdly, if you are going to include prospects in your trade, and this is the most important one of all, actually tell us who the prospects are. We're not going to do the work for you. We're not going to fill in the gaps for you. We're not going to do let's trade Dominic Canzone to the Blue Jays for Boba Chet.
Starting point is 00:24:16 And along with Canzone, it's a top 100 prospect, you know. We can't be vague with that. Tell us exactly who. Okay. So with that out of the way, as we get set to dive into your trades on tomorrow's show, let's talk some trades now and let's talk about some high-end possibilities here. Because over the last few weeks, Colby and I have talked on our Patreon show about trading for essentially the Luis Castillo equivalent of bats, right? Someone that has that kind of impact, the way that Castillo did on the rotation.
Starting point is 00:24:53 a couple years ago. Who is the bat equivalent of that? And obviously we've talked about Luis Robert on the show. We've talked about Vlad Jr. Quite a bit on this show, especially lately. Talked a little bit about Boba Shet. First, I want to know Colby, and I asked you this on the Patreon show yesterday,
Starting point is 00:25:10 so some of you might already know Colby's answer here. But if you had to put money on one guy, one big name that is potentially available that the Marys could acquire this, summer who would that be yeah i don't know i don't remember who i said yesterday i believe i said randy a rosarena uh was my answer just because he's the rays are going to trade some even if they're in it like they're struggling right now they're in fourth place they're 10 games out of the division lead um here on thursday may 30th uh they are three and a half back of the wild card
Starting point is 00:25:47 there's only one team ahead of them so uh still way too early with those numbers to say out but I feel like they're going to trade somebody even if they're in it if they get back in it I still feel like they're probably going to be shopping to rosarina yandy dyes yeah they trade guys earlier than later we know the deal we know how they operate so it makes a lot of sense for randy get traded the problem however though is he ain't playing like randy should we even consider him a big name right now with the way he's playing I mean like probably he is a he is a big name but sure in terms of like the impact we're talking about here with these guys.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Can he actually provide that right now? Yeah, based on how he's playing right now, he's basically Mitch Garber at the plate, which, ooh, and it's not like he provides that much more defensive value. I know our listeners are just pounding the table for another Mitch Garber on this roster right now.
Starting point is 00:26:40 Absolutely. But no, like, like, in terms of like recognizable name, who's the guy that I can see the Mariners trading for? It's Randy Rose Arena is probably the most, like that's the guy I would put money on. Is it my favorite idea? No, not really.
Starting point is 00:26:56 But I think it's a guy that I would put some money on. And this winter we heard some conflicting reports about him, about the Mariners' interests in him. We've heard some say they weren't actually all that interest in him at all. And we've heard some say that like, no, he was like their number one target. Like they really wanted a Rosarena. And they kind of settled for Rayleigh.
Starting point is 00:27:14 But yeah, that's the guy that's probably I would put the most money. Like I would put the highest odds on. Not my favorite idea. But I certainly would understand why the, Mariners would consider it because we know how good Randy a Rose Arena is when he's actually locked in particularly at the plate so and obviously we know about the allure of playoff Randy sure wasn't really a thing last year I don't think but yeah I mean obviously it is his reputation and in the big moments is well documented so for me right now to answer my own question I would
Starting point is 00:27:50 give you three names and these aren't the three names that I that I would prefer the most. This is just, and this isn't based on anything other than vibes, you know, anything other than just gut feel. Oh, good. It's the, it's the Scott Service method. Here we go. Right, right. I'm going to go Vlad Jr. I'm going to go Esoc Paredes. And I'm going to go Lars Neupbar. Now, the only reason that I include Newt Bar, I don't view Newt Bar in the same light as some of these other players that we'll talk about. But he has
Starting point is 00:28:22 so much club control. He's been an above average hitter. That's going to cost a lot. That's going to cost as much as it's probably going to cost you to get Vlad Jr. Or pretty close to it. So because the cost is relatively the same, I throw him into that group. Like if they're going to make a big swing,
Starting point is 00:28:41 technically new bar falls into that group just because of what it's likely going to cost. I think like two names I would throw in. one is more of a dark horse one is more of a standard uh i think boba shet is is going to be very interesting to seattle yeah doesn't strike out a ton doesn't walk a ton so i mean there is a trade off there but that's probably my trade deadline crush if you will is boba shot sure like i understand like if the mariners did it like cool yeah that makes sense if they decided not to like if we heard they were in it and they decided not to i'd be like okay i understand like it's not like one
Starting point is 00:29:18 of those guys it's a no-brainer i mean he's only got a year and a half left he's going to be expensive. You know, you can't factor in an extension. So if you're out there saying, you know, walk him up and just give him that eight-year extension, no, doesn't work that way. You're only trading for a year and a half of the guy. But Bichette is, you know, kind of a fun player. It makes a lot of contact. Obviously, as a track record of hitting, has really started to hit in the last two or three weeks now. So I think he's just kind of that like number three type of hitter that you could just put in the middle and just kind of give you a legitimate yeah the ish middle of the bad he'll be able to handle second base or third base fine uh so
Starting point is 00:29:59 he obviously got off to a really bad start offensively this year but he's been great uh over his last i think it's like 50 or so played appearances so yeah i mean yeah he's really starting to figure things out as he should he's only 26 years old so it's not like he's been consistently a 125, 130 WRC plus bat in his career. Right. And so I think you'd probably fit in really well at second base for this ball club. The other name, another second baseman, ironically enough, that maybe we're, well, used to be a second baseman. We haven't really brought up a lot.
Starting point is 00:30:31 Jazz Chisholm. Kind of the same warts as Lars Nupar, with one exception is that jazz really hasn't been able to stay healthy. So in a way, it's pretty similar to Luis Robert. but like Nupar, he doesn't have a track record of hitting lefties, but this year he's actually been quite good against lefties. He kind of has that, the swagger, that kind of like air about him where he could be a superstar. He's only 26.
Starting point is 00:30:57 You get him for two and a half years. He can actually play a pretty good center field. You can play second base. If you can play center field, you can play in the corners just fine. It might take you a little bit to adjust, but you'll be fine. He's hitting lefties this year. He's, you know, 20 home run, 40 stolen base. upside. Like there's a legit all-star five, six-win upside player in jazz chism. It's just injuries are
Starting point is 00:31:19 concerned. Uh, the hand, the, the, the, the platoon splits are a concern. So it's how much do you buy into him hitting lefties this year? Is, is this just a mid 20 years, mid 20 year old figuring out how to hit same handed pitching? Guys been in the league for like four or five years here. He made his debut very young. So could you just be figuring it out? Yeah, that's definitely possible. It's, you know, within the realm of, uh, reason. So. I feel like Jazz is maybe a guy, more of a top of the order type of guy. And again, do you want to take the risk on health? Do you want to take the risk on the platoon split?
Starting point is 00:31:53 You know, do you want to pay? He's probably going to cost less than Luis Robert, though. My guess is when you combine all that, him and Boba Shett are going to cost roughly the same. That would be my guess. With the risk involved with Jazz, knowing what it would take, I would prefer to look elsewhere. for a safer option, but also beggars can't beat choosers. Right. You need to add impact at the deadline, no matter what it takes.
Starting point is 00:32:21 Like you have to come away from this deadline with impact. Assuming you're in roughly the same position you are right now. Right. Right. I think that should go without saying here. Like that's the assumption we're working at it when we're having this discussion is that. That goes for tomorrow too. We're going to assume the Mariners are either in first place when they make this trade or within striking distance. And we're going to assume that it's like July.
Starting point is 00:32:45 Because obviously if you trade it for Luis Robert tomorrow, it's going to cost you a little bit more than if you trade for him in July. Probably not a lot more. That's probably not a great example. But like Vlad Jr. If you trade for him tomorrow, it's probably going to cost you a little bit more tomorrow than it will on July 30th. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Keep that in mind when you send those offers. Is it Twitter only submissions? Are we going to put a link to a Google Doc? That we're going to do Twitter.
