Starting point is 00:00:00 The Mariners not only got the win last night, but also saved their bullpen for what's to come. Let's talk about it. Colby, hit it. You are Locked-on Mariners. Your daily Seattle Mariners podcast. Part of the Locked-on Podcast Network, your team every day. Ahoy, sailors, it is Wednesday, May 13th, 2026. My name is Tiddy Gonzalez, and I'm joined, as always, by my co-coist Colby Patnode.
Starting point is 00:00:29 And on today's show, we're going to get you set for Bryce Miller's first start of the season. He has officially been reinstated from the injured. Jose Suarez has been DFA to make room for him. But before we talk about Bryce, we got to talk about what went down last night. Marriss smoked the Astros 10 to 2. It was a huge game for a lot of guys on the offensive side of things for the Mariners.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Dom Canzon hit a grand slam and wound up driving him five. Randy Rose Rana got him base five times. And Cal Raleigh snapped his 0 for 38 with a pair of hits. But perhaps the best thing the mayor's accomplished last night is that they didn't have to use Andreas Munoz or Edward Bizarro or Cooper Criswell. And with Miller, likely on some kind of pitch count tonight. Luis Cassio also set to go to Maro Colby.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Having those guys available in the bullpen while Ferrer, Spire, and Brasher all out is massive. Indeed. You know, it's not great for the Mariners bullpen. So any time that they can get a reset is really important. And Ferrear, we know it's a short-term thing. I imagine he'll be back with the team on Friday when they arrive home.
Starting point is 00:01:38 I think technically they need to activate him tomorrow, but I mean, what are you going to do? Like, you're not going to ask him to fly to Houston to then fly back home. You know, it just, unless I don't know,
Starting point is 00:01:48 maybe he's already in Houston. I don't know, but whatever. We know Ferrear will be back at least for Friday. And Brash is also eligible to return on Friday. I don't know if he will or not. Probably not. But he is eligible to return.
Starting point is 00:02:01 So they should be getting a couple of their guys back. But keep in mind, they're going to a six-man rotation and they're doing this piggyback thing for the rest of this little stretch here where they don't have an off day. We're still more than a week away from the Mariners next off day. So they're going to be an arm short in the bullpen on top of being a couple guys down, a couple leverage guys down on top of it.
Starting point is 00:02:23 So it really is a crucial element to the next week that starters go deep. And unfortunately for the Mariners, like you said, with Bryce kind of making his debut tonight and probably on a pitch count, he's probably not going deeper than five. I'd be really shocked if he gave you five, honestly. And then Luis, he's not on a pitch count, but he's really not having quick innings. He's really not throwing the ball all that well.
Starting point is 00:02:50 And, you know, the one thing that this Astros lineup has done in this series is make Mariners pitching throw a lot of pitches. Like they're foul off a ton of balls. They get competitive at-bats. they lack talent, but they don't lack, you know, the quality of the plate appearance. So it really does set up for this team to have to, you know, use their bullpen a lot over the next two days before, again, they go back home and play a very good Padreys team. So, you know, that last night was important because it does kind of wipe the slate clean for your bullpen usage over the next couple of days. And then you will add Ferrer again on Friday.
Starting point is 00:03:27 So you will have at least one high leverage guy who's pretty well rested. But yeah, I mean, I think it's reasonable to assume that your bullpen's going to have to cover at least four innings apiece over the next two nights. And if they don't, then fine. That's great. But yeah, you're back to all square. Like the only guy who's probably not available today, unless, you know, somebody has food poisoning or whatever. The things we don't know. But based on usage, the only guy who's probably not available today is hoppy.
Starting point is 00:03:54 And even then, he didn't throw that many pitches. Yeah, 23. Yeah, so he might be available today, but he's probably not. But that's it. You're going to have Chris Well. You should have Bizarro. You should have Munoz. So, yeah, it really was exactly what you needed type of game from Brian Wu
Starting point is 00:04:13 and more specifically from the offense to make this one a blowout. So you didn't have to feel tempted to use Chris Well, although he did get up at one point. But you know, you didn't feel tempted to use Chris well. you didn't feel like you had to use Munoz. And you were just able to kind of get it done with the back front end, the front end of your bullpen. Sure. Technically.
Starting point is 00:04:36 Yeah. The bottom of the packing order. Sure. If you will. Bottom of the total. Yeah. Sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:44 And I mean, like the mirrors don't typically make things easy. Right. So the fact that they were able to just kind of get through it, keep things at 10 to 2, didn't even have to bring anyone up to warm up. in case things got out of hand like that that's massive yeah how many times that we see in the mirrors with like a five run lead or a six run lead trying to just you know quickly shut it down with you know one of their back end arms or front end arms whatever you get what I'm saying yeah and and then like andres Munoz has to get up and warm up right so it was nice that like it was very straightforward
Starting point is 00:05:17 last night I was so worried about that at seven to two it's like I mean you're going to go to hoppy against the top of the order and they're going to get a couple guys on and all of a sudden it's It's panic time, and you're like, but now they added on, you know, on offense. And Hoppe actually looks pretty darn good. And, you know, Gonzalez, congrats to him, major league debut. I didn't see anything too, you know, too special about him. The fastball wasn't blazing or anything. I don't think the breaking ball was great or anything like that, but he throws strikes.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Like, he's going to throw strikes. And he's going to stay out of the middle of the plate for the most part. And so, yeah, I mean, he looks like a middle reliever to me. And congrats to him, got his first. strikeout last night. That was really cool to see. It would have been fun to see him face Christian Walker, but, you know, the Astros wave to white flag by then.
Starting point is 00:06:04 So yeah, but yeah, you're in pretty good shape, but you're still in a position where because your starters are very likely only going to be able to go five max. I mean, I'd love for Cassio to just randomly go seven. I mean, that'd be incredible. But, you know, because they're probably only going to go five, you're still going to have to ask Josh Simpson to get a big out for you, probably. unless your offense explodes again, which is possible. I mean, again, with the way that the atros have been fouling off pitches and all that, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:33 and Bryce, you know, again, we'll get into Bryce a little later on in the show, but Bryce only threw 61 pitches in his last outing. Yeah. He might only be, you know, on schedule for about 70, 75 tonight. So that could quickly run up on him and maybe this bullpen has to wind up covering five, six settings. So it might not just be, you know, you get one Nick DeVila inning or one Josh Simpson inning. And this is assuming that you have the lead, right, that you're on track to win the game. Right. You might need
Starting point is 00:07:09 multiple of those guys. And bear in mind, you also only have seven guys now. You don't have eight anymore because you're in the middle of the six-man rotation run now. So, yeah, we'll see how Dan wants to play it. And we'll see if Hoppy is potentially available or not, he's probably the highest upside guy of the pile that you have behind the three main guys. So, you know, if you get into a little bit of a sticky situation there, particularly early on in the game,
Starting point is 00:07:39 you might want to go to Hoppy. So we'll see if he's, you know, able to go or not. But, but yeah, you know, at the very least, you know, you're not, I wouldn't say you're in great shape because obviously you're down three of your five best arms and that's not even including Carlos Vargas as well, but you're in the best shape as you're in as best shape as possible for this situation. If you have the lead through six, you're going to be able to throw your best guys to try and preserve it.
Starting point is 00:08:08 And that's really all you can hope for at this stage. Again, especially, they still don't have an off day for another eight days. The Mariners are going to get a little healthier in the bullpen. We still don't have any idea about Gabe or Vargas, really, but they're going to get a little but healthier, but it doesn't sound like that, you know, big arrival is coming anytime over the next four or five days. So they're going to have to try and get it done with what they are facing right now. Thankfully, they're facing a Astros team that, well, they just suck.
Starting point is 00:08:36 I mean, there's really no. They're bad. And obviously, you know, that is due to injury and all that. But, yeah, they're bad. A lot of it. They're tied right now with the Angels for the worst record of Major League Baseball. Right. Hunter Brown and Jeremy Payne.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Like, you guys all know who's hurt and all that. and why they're not playing well. But still, I mean, that's who they are right now. And so you have to take advantage. So winning the first two games, great. Now you only have to split these next two with your two, I don't want to say your two worst starters, but like your two most questionable starters, I guess.
Starting point is 00:09:07 Certainly one of them is your worst starter right now. But obviously, Bryce, this is start one. So we don't really know what we're going to get quite yet. But yeah, it's really important that you win these next, are they one of those first two because now you only have to split these two games that are a little bit more up in the air. And you can walk out if Houston with a big series win. By the way, I mean, it's crazy.
Starting point is 00:09:25 Not that it seems like it's going to matter at all, just based on where they're at standings-wise, but one win in the next two and you clinched the tiebreaker over Houston on May 13th or 14th. So, yeah, it doesn't seem like it's going to matter because Houston kind of sucks. But, yeah, hopefully the offense can just kind of explode again and to give Dan a very easy night managing his bullpen and they could set themselves up because it's really if they had an off day tomorrow, we wouldn't be talking about this nearly as much. But because they don't have another off day until the following Thursday,
Starting point is 00:10:00 it really does strain the bullpen. And it really does make decisions that Dan makes even murkier than they already are. So when it comes to the bullpen stuff, I'm not going to give Dan a pass per se, but I think you have to be a little bit more like, what is, I mean, what's the right answer there?
Starting point is 00:10:17 Yeah, what's he supposed to do? Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, and it's a Bacolars tonight who's really struggled, and the mayor is, you know, grinded it out against him the last time they saw him, and they were able to finally get to him in that big comeback that they had. I think you were in a tenant's war, right?
Starting point is 00:10:34 You were at that game. Yep. Yeah. So hopefully they can get to them again. And yeah, it would be great if they could get out to another big lead like they did last night and maybe continue to preserve some of the better arms in this bullpen. We'll see how it goes. Well, obviously, again, it was a huge offensive.
Starting point is 00:10:51 night for the Mariners and they also got six strong innings out of Brian Wu. We'll go over his night in just a moment. But first a reminder of this episode of the lockdown errors podcast is brought to you by Calci. Baseball season is here and now you can trade every game on Cali. They had 19 hard hit balls combined. again Dominic Canzon with the Grand Slam
Starting point is 00:12:25 later drives in another run on a sacrifice fly I really thought he had another grand slam there though to be honest with you like I know he got out in front of it a little bit there but you know Goldie had the reaction it's that ballpark it's that short porch yeah I thought maybe maybe that was about to happen so that was a little bit of a bummer
Starting point is 00:12:46 radio Rosa Rana gets on base five times goes four for four hit by a pitch hits two run homer couple doubles for him 3 RBI on the night, two hard hit balls. He's now hitting over 300 on the season. And maybe the biggest night just for, you know, who needed it the most, really. Cow Raleigh goes two for four, a couple of hits, three hard hit balls, walks, scores on Randy's two run home run to get the party going there. Showered in full uniform, apparently the night before was rocking the 2022 era high.
Starting point is 00:13:23 socks and go tea. I assume we're going to see that again tonight. Whatever works, man. But yeah, Cal finally off the Schneid breaks that 0 for 38 slump. And hopefully this is going to get him going. Now he's two for his last two. That's right. And that is the only number that matters.
Starting point is 00:13:45 MVP pacing right there. So, yeah, I mean, again, obviously Cal still chasing the fastball, still missing the fastball. elevated. He needs to get on top of that and figure it out. I mean, obviously he's not back, but he needed to have a good game, regardless of how it kind of happened here. And he didn't. He reached base three times, got a couple knocks, score three times as well. So, you know, it is one of those things where it's just the first step and he can go O for his next 10 and we're just kind of like, oh, now he's two for his last 50. And, you know, we're right back on that narrative. but he needed to start to turn the ship around.
Starting point is 00:14:22 Hopefully he can, you know, at least collect one hit tonight and kind of, you know, try and keep building some momentum here. But the batting average went up yesterday, the on base went up yesterday. So that is a positive game for Cal Raleigh at this stage. Yes. And obviously, though, you know, that's kind of like what took over the game, especially late when the Mariners had to solidify the lead and all that. Then it just became about Cal and then obviously the reaction of, you know, the dugout after he got the hit. and the joking and all that, like, good to see from this club. You know, Randy's probably the only all-star, like, on the, in the lineup.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Julio, maybe, yeah, maybe, but we'll see. Cal maybe wins a vote, but not if he's two for his last 40 again. But, yeah, Randy's been very good, very consistent. And now, like you said, he's hitting over 300. What about Cole Young? Huh? Oh yeah, Cole Young maybe. Yeah, up and down season.
Starting point is 00:15:23 His OPS dip below 700 last night, but he had two harder balls. One of them would have been a home run in 22 ballparks. Like he just looks good. He's not a couple of those. He's not a couple of those where he's just like he's headed it to the deepest part of the ballpark, which would have been a home run and, you know, X amount of stadiums. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:42 Also made another nice play last night. So the defense isn't slumping at all. And, you know, he just kind of, the bat is kind of doing what, you know, 22-year-old bats typically do, kind of up-down, up-down a little bit. But, yeah, I mean, you're getting contributions from him. Obviously, Canzone almost had two grand slams last night. That would have been insane. Couldn't quite get to the seven RBIs that Luke Grayley had the other day, but, you know, five is okay, I guess.
Starting point is 00:16:05 I mean, half of the team was around. Yeah. It's kind of funny that, like, Julio probably had his worst game offensively in a month, and the mayor of score 10. Yeah. Yeah, sure. Why would? Yeah. Spent a whole segment yesterday, praising Julio, talking about how hot he's been,
Starting point is 00:16:22 especially on this road trip, you know, the three multi-hit games so far on the road trip. And then he goes, right over the last month. Yeah, bats are so much better. And then last night, I kind of. 0 for 5 and the mayor is score 10. Yes. Why not? Sure.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Two strikeouts, a double play. You're just like, oh. And that doesn't matter. No matter. No, no. Didn't eat them. Not at all. And again, it's not even, it's not like Nailer was great either.
Starting point is 00:16:46 He wasn't bad. He had a hit. But like still. Naylor wasn't like incredible Donovan like one, two, three really wasn't all that good. It wasn't bad. But like Donovan reached base a couple times. Naylor reached base once. But they were combined, let's see, they were combined two for 14 with a walk.
Starting point is 00:17:06 Like, and they score 10 runs anyways. Yeah. But don't matter. So yeah. I mean, obviously. And by the way, speaking of Randy and Cal, you know, this is the stadium where it happened. The thing happened. It is.
Starting point is 00:17:20 Yeah, it is. And Randy hits that two run homer. They meet at home plate. And they do the, they, they cross their arms. They do the Randy together. I was thinking about this last. I didn't connect that this was the park where it all went down. But I was thinking, like, is that the first time that Randy has driven in Cal this year?
Starting point is 00:17:44 I think it might be because, like, Cal hasn't been on base all that often. And Randy's been hitting five and he's been hitting two. for most of the year. So I was thinking that might be the first time that they've actually scored like, you know, on the same play. And so they've had to like interact at home, but yeah, whatever. Yeah. You know, we have seen like we've we have seen like, uh, Randy like high five Cal like I think Cal's handed him the trident. Sure.
Starting point is 00:18:12 This year. But yeah. But yeah, anyway, curse lifted essentially is what I'm saying. We'll see how the next two days go. But, uh, Yeah, no, it's Cal obviously, you know, it's really tough to win games when Cal is bad. It's really tough to what. It's basically impossible when Julio and Cal are both bad.
Starting point is 00:18:33 And last night for the first time in like at least 10 days or so, Julio was bad. And by bad, it just won bad game. It's not ideal or anything. But Cal was good and they still score 10. So just kind of funny how things work out sometimes. Your three biggest hitters really don't contribute all that much. he still dropped 10. I'm granted on a really bad Astros pitching staff,
Starting point is 00:18:54 but whatever, they're major leaguers. So they all count. Yeah, very good night for the, for the Marin's offense. Yeah. Even JP, JP, kind of a soft-spoken game in this one.
Starting point is 00:19:06 He had a hit. He had two walks. Yeah. A couple RBI. It's kind of what he's doing right now. He'll put in like a one for four, get a couple walks, something like that, or one for three, like, you know, like last night.
Starting point is 00:19:19 you know, most of his WRC plus right now is, is tied to the walks. He's only hitting 200 right now. He's not really slugging much. But, you know, he's finding ways to get on base and he's finding ways to contribute offensively right now. I mean, the WRC plus is still well above average. Like, J.P. is having one of the most productive 200 batting average seasons I've ever seen so far.
Starting point is 00:19:42 And, yeah, so like JP is kind of doing JP things. He's going to drive you nuts defensively. We all know this. he is going to make up for it at the plate. And that's what he's done this year. So yeah, really good night for the mayor's offense. Real quick, let's talk about Brian Wu. He is able to battle.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Give you six in this one, just four hits, two run runs, nine strikeouts, two walks, just two hard hit balls, but did run into some issues in this game, was leaving some stuff over the plate a little too much. What did you make of his night overall? It was fine. you know, not, not too dissimilar from George, where it's just like, you know, had a couple times where he had trouble putting guys away,
Starting point is 00:20:29 jump ahead and then they have trouble putting guys away. The Astros again, they grind through outbats. As bad as they are, they really don't really take that many poor at bats. They see a lot of pitches at the very least. But, you know, he's easy to forget, but this game was tied at 2-2, no one point. Yeah, before the grand slam.
Starting point is 00:20:50 And Brian didn't. just didn't look all that settled. He looked okay, but he didn't look super comfortable. The Vilo wasn't incredible or anything. A lot of 95s instead of, you know, 97. But yeah, I think Wu, like we, at least I noticed more like first pitch sweepers and sliders, which seems to be the adjustment he's made after the last two outing or those two rough outings. He kind of started to throw maybe not more, but he mixed up the sequencing of his pitches.
Starting point is 00:21:19 unfortunately for me Stackass is not loading right now so I don't have the numbers on pitch usage in front of me No I got it for you Okay It was yes 43% of four seam
Starting point is 00:21:29 26% sinker 23% sweeper 4% slider 4% change up Yeah so still Under 70% Is that 69% fastball? That is 69% Fastball
Starting point is 00:21:45 Nice But that's You know Woo is not not, you know, it's not unusual for him to go 80, 85% fastball. And I feel like we did see more like first pitch sweepers. And he really is trying to throw that breaking ball more and more. You know, he's not going to go to a 50-50 split between the fast balls and the breaking ball. The fast balls are too good. The breaking ball is not that good yet. So, but yeah, just mixing in,
Starting point is 00:22:10 changing the sequencing a little bit, moving, working up down, up down. I thought overall he was, he was good last night. Like I'd give him, I don't know, like a 55, maybe, maybe a 50 for the first three innings and then kind of a 55 for the last three. But even though Wu didn't have his best, best stuff last night, he still battled. He still gave you six and only gave up two and really gave you exactly what you need, extended himself beyond what he normally would to try and help out the bullpen. So yeah, I thought, I thought Brian was quite good last night, just not the best. them but pretty darn solid yeah all right well bryce miller is making his season debut tonight
Starting point is 00:22:52 against the houston astros will get you set for that in just a moment but first a reminder of this episode of the long time era's podcast is brought to you by rocket money if you've ever opened your bank account and thought where did all my money go you're not alone keeping track of subscriptions spending and bills can get overwhelming fast that's where rocket money comes in helping you take control of your finances all in one place. Again, Jose Swara's DFA to make room for Miller on the 26 man roster. And again, like I said, earlier, Miller in his last outing of his rehab assignment through just 61 pitches.
Starting point is 00:24:32 So I think a reasonable expectation for him, pitch count wise, probably 70, 75, somewhere in there. Maybe they try to push him to 80. we'll see but can't imagine that he'll throw more than that though in this game uh so again well you know this is going to be a big game for the bullpen really no matter what whether miller goes five or he goes three right so we'll see but um you have any expectations for bryce miller or just you know just excited to see him uh of attics solid yeah 50 pinch maddox they're going to have to call it a Miller. It's Miller time, baby.
Starting point is 00:25:15 But it would be a great sponsorship opportunity. But anyways, yeah, Bryce, it's worth noting that, like, after he left the game, his last outing, he did go down to the bullpen and threw more pitches. So he probably ended up throwing 75 full effort pitches. So he might go 80, 85. But yeah, I think somewhere in that 70 to 80 range is probably the most they're going to ask for. and against this Houston lineup with the way that they kind of grind through at bats,
Starting point is 00:25:44 you know, if he gives you more than four, I'd be pretty happy. If he gives you five or six even, I'd be ecstatic. But yeah, just look healthy. Let's see the V-Lo. Let's see you maintain V-Lo throughout the start. You know, just kind of one of those things where it's like, look, if he has a clunker, his first time out or first or second time out, like, fine, whatever. But Bryce is an important part of this thing.
Starting point is 00:26:06 He's incredibly, you know, durable, except for obviously just now. And he goes deep into games when he's throwing well. He works efficiently. He gets a ton of value out of the fastball, which we know is very important to the Mariners. Like, he throws strikes. Like, we haven't seen healthy Bryce Miller, I guess aside from the playoffs in almost a year. And how exactly healthy was he in the playoffs? Right.
Starting point is 00:26:32 And so it's just kind of one of those things where it's like, I think it's easy. because we think about 2025, it's just kind of a lost year for Bryce. We haven't seen good Bryce Miller since 2024. It's been 18 months now. And I think we forget just how good, good Bryce Miller is. We'll see what the pitch selection looks like. He throws like seven pitches. So we'll see if that's paired down or, you know,
Starting point is 00:26:56 if he's made some tweaks or if he's added anything or subtracted anything. But you remember, he was, he was, you know, opening up eyes in camp before he, you know, went down with the they ever technically called an oblique or do they always maintain it was yeah so um you know before he went down with that he was 98 to 100 like the splitter was really moving like he looked good in his one spring training start and he's looked pretty good in his uh his rehab assignment starts but i just i'd like to see the fastball consistently 96 to 98 i would like to see some some good spliters and i would like to see the the break like really before the game should go watch like Bryce Miller 2024 highlights because that dude was a fringe
Starting point is 00:27:39 Syung candidate. Like that is the ceiling of Bryce Miller. And I just feel like maybe we've forgotten that because last year wasn't good. But like Luke Rayleigh, why wasn't last year good? Injuries. It's so clear. It's so obvious to look at what went wrong with Bryce Miller in 2020 injuries. Like it's the answer.
Starting point is 00:27:57 So, you know, we'll see the bone spurs thing really hasn't popped up at all. Like we haven't heard it once. Yeah. It's been all about that oblique and the elbow seems fine. So we'll see how it goes. But yeah, if I can get five quality innings from Bryce tonight, I'd be really, really happy about that. But more than anything,
Starting point is 00:28:15 I just want to see him get out of the start healthy. I want to see the stuff. I want to see the Velo. And again, if the command is a little bit off in his first start, if, you know, he, below dips a little bit in the fourth inning or whatever. It's like, okay, fine.
Starting point is 00:28:27 I can understand that. Just get out of this healthy, get ready for your next start and kind of build up on it. So, yeah, I'm excited to watch. watch Bryce pitch. He's one of my favorite pitchers in baseball when he's healthy. And we haven't seen it in a while. So I'm really excited to see. I'm hopeful that we get 2024 price back because that's a game changer in this rotation. Yeah, I wanted to bring up his, his VLO, but some, you know, from his rehab assignment, but his savant's not working right now. Savant doesn't want to play along for
Starting point is 00:28:59 the sake of the show. So no, there were a lot of 98's, 99s. I think it's, I think, his last start, his final ending, he topped out at like 95.8 or something like that in the fifth. So the Velo was fine in the minors this year. And again, he doesn't necessarily have to sit 98, but we know he's capable of doing that. In 2024, he sat 95. So, but we know he can top out at 100. I just want to see the guy who's throwing strikes with a deep arsenal and just going after guys attacking him. and I just want to see him be healthy.
Starting point is 00:29:35 And, you know, that's again, the beauty of winning those first two games is that, you know, you can kind of afford one clunker, quote unquote, between him and Luis. So hopefully it's not Bryce tonight. But if he gives me four innings and he gives up two or three runs, I'm pretty happy with that, considering, you know, all the, all the things we talked about. Yeah, again, 2024 Bryce Miller, 294 ERA, 358 FIPP. 2.7f4 and 180 and a third innings pitch, 853Ks per 9, 2,25 walks per 9.
Starting point is 00:30:11 That is the arm that you're potentially adding to your rotation right now. Because again, I'm not willing to buy into this idea yet that 2025 Bryce Miller is just who he is now. No, again, it's just one of those things where it's like, it's so obvious what happened last year. Yeah. That it's not fair whatsoever to assume. that 2025 Bryce Miller is the new Bryce Miller because again
Starting point is 00:30:40 it's so obvious. Like we saw it with our own eyes. What happened last year? We know what the problem was last year. It's a fact. Yeah. And then we started to see him start to look more like that 2024 Bryce Miller in the playoffs and some of the biggest games that the Marrers have played in in their franchisees history.
Starting point is 00:31:00 You know, by far the biggest games that Bryce Miller has ever pitched in his entire life. You know, I saw him with my own eyes pitching in a hostile environment in game one of the ALCS, you know, in Toronto last year, gives up that lead off home run to George Springer and then shoves from that point forward. You know, you would think that a moment like that in an environment like that would make someone, especially a younger pitcher unravel, right? And I was just so impressed with how he handled himself specifically in that game and just how he handles himself in the playoffs in general.
Starting point is 00:31:31 And so I'm really hopeful here that he can just kind of build upon that. And again, we start to see him turn back into that guy that we saw in 2024. Just one little note to go out on in the 2024 season. Here's the complete list of pitchers that had more innings pitched than Bryce Miller with a lower ERA, right? Which is what pitching is all about, right? Get as many out as you can, surrendering as few runs as you can. Here's the full list. Terrick Scoobble, Zach Wheeler.
Starting point is 00:32:03 Chris Sale and Corbyn Burns. That was the list of 2024. Pretty good pitchers. The dude's really good when he's healthy. So hopefully he's healthy. All right. Well, that is going to do it for our show. Thank you so much for joining us here on the Locktime Marys podcast.
