Eight seconds to go, it's in his range.
He's throwing a shot.
So they're going to try the 48-yard field goal
with McQuay to snap it back to Hecker, who has the placement.
The kick by Zerline, sailing to the upright,
and the kick is no good!
No good, with five seconds to go!
Greg Zerline, who hit a 57-yarder
to get the Rams to this game.
Get off the field.
Two weeks ago in New Orleans, hooks it left,
and the Patriots take weeks ago in New Orleans. Hooks it left.
And the Patriots take over with one snap remaining.
Tom Brady.
Good job, Edelman.
Get him off the field. And Julian Edelman.
Who turned these cameras loose?
Out of the field.
That's photographers and Patriots spilling off the nearest sideline.
Where's security?
Went out onto the field at play.
This isn't on the players
and the patriots with one more snap five seconds frozen on the clock
the patriots
with a 13-3 lead over the Rams.
Tom Brady, about to be a six-time champion,
takes the snap, drops to the knee.
And the Patriots have won their sixth Super Bowl title.
In the early 2000s, they won three of four.
Now they have won three of the last five.
Yes, it's still a dynasty.
Hello everyone and welcome to the final installment of 2018 Revisited here at Locked On Patriots,
the offseason series going game by game through the New England Patriots season, and we have reached Super Bowl 53.
I'm Mark Schofield, as always, here in the big chair, happy to be with you, and today
we're going to break down Super Bowl 53, a game that had some incredible matchups on
paper going in.
A high-powered offense from the Los Angeles Rams,
a defense that was coming together under Wade Phillips
against obviously Tom Brady and the New England Patriots
and the offense they had become down the stretch,
an offense that showed multiple ways to beat a team,
as well as a defense that had become perhaps the strength of this Patriots unit.
We're going to dive into everything that unfolded during Super Bowl 53,
but before we do that, your usual cavalcade of reminders.
Please do follow me on the old Twitter machine at Mark Schofield.

Pleading Green Nation, and of course,
Pat's Pulpit.
Let's dive into this game now.
And as I said, there were some fascinating sort of chess matchups going in.
You had Aaron Donald against the interior of that Patriots offensive line.
Joshua Daniels versus Wade Phillips.
Sean McVay versus Brian Flores and Bill Belichick. So you had a lot of things going on.
And you got the sense that this was going to be a defensive struggle early on.
In fact, on the Patriots' open possession. Over and over again. Second and seven. You see him right there.
We'll see if he's one on one or Belichick.
Has come up with a plan to double team him.
Brady's pass.
Ball in the air.
And it's intercepted.
It's picked up on his first throw.
By Littleton.
Well. Roby Coleman gets his hand on the ball and it's a zone drop out and the ball goes right into his hands and he hits it up and Littleton is there let's see if he comes down with it
oh that looks pretty good from there no question and wade phillips the d coordinator the 71 year old defensive genius 41 years coaching in this league his team makes
the play gets the gym nance tony romo there on the call for cbs and tom brady gets fooled on
this play you heard tony romo sort of allude to it it's just a simple hitch route that he's trying
to throw to chris hogan and he thinks it's one coverage but as he's starting to let it go he realizes that that corner is actually
going to trap that. The pass gets contested at the catch point deflected into the air and Corey
Litton comes down with the interception and this was Brady's first passing attempt. Did not bode
well for what was going to be a rather tough offensive slog for both teams in this game.
The Rams did nothing on their possession.
They would end up going 3-0.
And the Patriots, they take over a 1st and 10 on their own 12-yard line
with 11-15 left in the first quarter and put together a pretty solid drive.
They had a nice mix of run and pass.
There was a big completion from Tom Brady in the left to Rex Barkhead for 8
and another completion from Brady to Gronkowski in the left for 19.
But the drive stalled at the 28-yard line of the Los Angeles Rams.
So on came Steven Gaskowski,
and cue up Jim Nance for a little bit of a jinx job.
...goal in this stadium.
A couple of PATs that were missed,
but all kickers, Falcons and opponents, 31 of 31.
Gaskowski from 46 out. did you do it to him again
don't blame the announcer
no good I can't believe it it's almost just automatic when you go 31 for 31 and tell the
world was that one of your predictions?
No, that's not. I'm not predicting.
Gostowski's field goal try is hooked to the left.
It looked like it was going to be good, but then he hooks it to the left,
and the 48-yard field goal try fails.
The Rams, again, nothing doing on that next possession.
Patriots couldn't get anything going on their next possession.
And to
start the second quarter, we saw another drive stall for the Los Angeles Rams. Then the Patriots
early in the second quarter, they get another good drive going. They get down just outside the
red zone from the Los Angeles Rams. The drive stalls out after a 39 passing attempt from the
Rams 28-yard line. It stops short. Brady hitting Gronkowski for a gain of four.
And on comes Steven Gostowski to attempt his second field goal try of the game,
this time from 42 yards out.
And Gronk comes up limping out of that.
Last couple of weeks been about as healthy as he's been all season.
Yeah, he's been running better.
From 42 yards, the kick.
It's good.
First points of the game off the leg of Gostkowski.
Here's where Gostkowski got nicked on the third down stop.
The field goal is good, and the Patriots have the first points of Super Bowl 53.
And it looked as the second quarter drew to a close the Patriots have the first points of Super Bowl 53.
And it looked as the second quarter drew to a close that they might have a chance to get some more points,
put some more points on the board.
With one minute and 16 seconds left in the first half,
the Patriots faced a fourth and one of the Rams' 32-yard line.
And rather than send Ghost out for what would be a long field goal attempt,
an attempt from just under 50 yards,
Bill Belichick decided to keep the offense on the field.
Tom Brady would look to throw,
and the Rams' defense would come up with a stop.
Heads up. Brady's going to look out here.
He wants to see, bring the back in.
Is that a man or zone?
You see who's on him?
It's 26. It's man-to-man coverage.
That's Barron on him.
Fourth and one from the pocket, and it's incomplete.
Trying to find Gronkowski, and Johnson was able to make the play,
and Wade Phillips salutes his defense.
Brady's throw to Gronkowski is deflected and falls incomplete,
and the Rams take over on downs.
And this was one of those moments
where the Patriots put running back James White out wide and they bring him back into the backfield
to get a look at the defensive coverage and Brady wants to throw to White but that's taken away.
The Rams drop the defensive end underneath that throw in lane so he's forced to go to his second
option and that's Gronkowski on a crossing route but linebacker tips it and the pass falls incomplete that gives the Rams a golden opportunity in this game to perhaps shake off their offensive
woes and with time ticking down in the first half perhaps tie or even take the lead with a big drive
but any thoughts of a huge drive was stopped right away by Dante Hightower
and the Rams have two first downs and will be receiving the third quarter kick Monte Hightower. You're the Rams. You don't call a timeout. Now you're way behind the chains. You want to just get into a play.
You've got to make sure now it's lower percentage.
You're going to try and be a little aggressive on this one.
As you heard Tony Romo say there, the Hightower sack of golf on first down
really put the Rams behind the sticks.
They were facing a second and 16.
They would fail to convert this first down and eventually punt the ball away.
Tom Brady would take a knee on the final play of the half,
and the team's headed to the locker room in the long Super Bowl halftime break
with the Patriots holding a 3-0 lead.
Up next, the rest of Super Bowl LIII here
on the final installment of 2018 Revisited at Locked On Patriots.
Mark Schofield back with you on the final chapter of 2018 Revisited here at Locked On Patriots. Mark Schofield back with you on the final chapter of 2018 revisited here at Locked
on Patriots. We are working through Super Bowl 53. And before we dive into what went down in the
second half of Super Bowl 53, I did want to share a bit of a milestone with you, or at least the
fact that we're closing in on one here at Locked On Patriots. This is, believe it or not, episode 599 of Locked On Patriots.
That's over the show's history, not just my 599th episode,
although sometimes it feels like we're approaching 600.
But that means the next installment of Locked On Patriots is episode 600 in the show's history.
That's over a full year of shows.
There's a lot of shows you can catch up on and yes a little bit later after our next offseason segment we're going to be doing some best of stuff so i do want to
you know prepare you for that there's going to be a period of time where your boy takes a little
bit of a break as right before training camp as we get ready for the big sprint from training camp to the season to the playoffs to the Super Bowl to the draft.
You know how the sprint works here at Locked on Patriots,
but there will be a little bit of time for your boy to recharge the batteries.
Let's get into the second half now of Super Bowl 53.
And surprise, surprise, the teams struggled on the offensive side of the ball.
The Patriots and the Rams both failed on their first two possessions each.
The Rams would get that second half kickoff,
and their drive would stall out near midfield.
Johnny Hecker with a punt.
Patriots, they would take over on their own eight.
Drive, stalls near midfield, they would punt.
Rams, three and out.
They were pinned by Ryan Allen on their own, too.
You'd think the Patriots might get a chance to flip field position here
and pin them deep.
Johnny Hecker with a booming 65-yard punt.
And remember, there was a time when could Johnny Hecker
potentially win Super Bowl MVP?
So the Patriots failed to pin the Rams,
and they fail on their next possession,
and they punt the ball away.
So each team with two possessions, each team with two punts.
But then a pivotal sequence.
It's Super Bowl 53.
The Rams finally get a good drive going,
and they face a first and 10 of the Patriots' 29 with 342 left in the third quarter. And yes, perhaps the pivotal play of Super Bowl 53 is upon us....and use up clock, and they're doing that on this drive.
Now the Patriots need to stand up right here and stop this play action.
Here it is. Goff steps up. He's going for the big ball.
To the end zone! Oh, and it's
knocked out of his hands. Cooks was
waiting for it.
And it was McCourty, Jason McCourty
who caught up in time to knock
it out. Well,
here's the crazy part. This is
where Patrick Chung, the difference
is the communication. It is an
unbelievable play by Jason McCourty.
He's not supposed to be there.
He comes from the opposite side of the field
and makes that play.
And I think if Chung's out there,
he doesn't get that wide open.
They had a touchdown.
Yes, they did.
And you saw both McCourty's in the frame,
one watching, the other making the play.
As Patriots fans know by now,
Jason McCourty was indeed supposed to be there.
If you remember back to how this 2018 revisited series kicked off,
the Stephon Gilmore interception of Deshaun Watson back in week one,
the cut and replace call that we talked about,
where the safety drives down on the crosser and the cornerback lets the crosser go to
fill the middle of the field that's how Gilmore got that interception and that's how Jason McCourty
was able to break up this throw in the middle of the field for Brandon Cooks and in the wake of
Super Bowl 53 we saw a lot of in-game footage and we saw Brian Flores when the Patriots saw this play
this design earlier in the game Sean McVay on his side line was saying, we're going to come back to that.
We're going to hit Cooksey for the touchdown.
Brian Flores on the other side telling Jason McCourty, you've got to fill.
You've got to replace in the middle of the field when we see this again.
The Patriots were ready for it, partly because they talked about it on the sidelines,
but also because this is something they had been doing all the way back in week one.
Also, not to pat myself too violently on the back here,
but remember what I was saying about Jared Goff going into this game.
Exploit the hesitation.
Goff hesitates on this.
The ball comes out a step late,
and that gives McCourty just enough time to get there,
break up the throw, and prevent the touchdown.
The defense would step up again.
Remember, Rams are in very good field position here, but Donta Hightower again would come through
with a huge sack just a few plays later. pretend pressure from Belichick that he's done throughout the game.
He likes to double a lot of people at different times, but I think he's had too much success
to go away from it.
Another time for you to stand in
and throw this ball.
To the 19 for a first.
Coming after him. Oh, they take
him way back.
Now forcing a long field goal attempt.
Had it been an incompletion, it would have been 44 yards.
Now it'll be 50-plus.
It was Hightower first, Van Noy second to get to Goff.
The Hightower sack in celebration gave you your SI cover moment
as he gets up leaping and pointing after the sack of Jared Goff.
And put the Rams back into where they had to now, Zerline, Greg DeLay, had to attempt a 53-yard field goal just to tie this game.
And he would convert that, tying this game at three with just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter.
The Patriots, on their ensuing possession, the drive would stall.
They would be forced to punt it away.
The Rams, on a multi-play drive, but a drive that started at their own 7-yard line,
they would get only as far as the Rams' 30,
thanks in part to a holding penalty on John Sullivan that occurred near midfield
that pushed them back to their own 33-yard line.
They would punt it away.
Then New England, with 9.49 left in Super Bowl LII,
with a score tied at three, would take over at their own 31,
and they would go on the game's only touchdown drive.
And here it is, that touchdown drive for you.
One more time.
Everyone talked about the year of the offense, right? That touchdown drive for you. Bebecom, they pick up 18. Wow, this is just a pretend like I'm blocking the run game.
You do it over and over again.
And what you find is, watch.
You can see how he pops out.
What's that chant?
Is that Brady?
Sounds like it to me.
Oh, you got to watch out for a double move here.
It'll rock up the seam.
Running back down the sideline.
Now the middle of the goal.
Who else?
Edelman.
With yet another catch.
His 10th.
10 for 141.
Edelman one on one
and he has the whole middle of the field to work
guards a guy there's no way you're going to
cover him in there
they're going to come back
to that I can promise you they just saw
what that looked like 10 receptions
8 of them going for first
and now it's
possible pressure
double move
to pass over to Burkett.
Bounced out by Peters.
Came back with the exact same play.
They just made it look different, Jim, with motion.
Love the energy.
She's into this.
I tell you, she knows how important this is to their family
and how much this means to Tom.
Same exact play again.
Edelman over the middle.
Second and three.
Down the field.
There you go. Gronkowski three. Down the field. It goes.
Gronkowski has it at the two-yard line.
It's the same play three times in a row.
Edelman over the middle.
Gronk on a seam.
And the ball is perfectly thrown.
And Littleton can't get there.
Gronk lays out and catches it.
Three plays in a row in the exact same gym
and Giselle's happy.
The game on either side from the two.
First and goal.
Running it for the touchdown.
Sonny Michel.
Hoswai Juke.
Three times, three completions.
The big one to Rob Gronkowski.
And when Sonny Michel getting the short touchdown plunge,
his sixth Russian touchdown of the playoffs,
the Patriots had a 10-3 lead in Super Bowl 53.
And listeners to this show know that I don't pull punches.
I don't lie.
I don't color things.
I own my mistakes.
That's now probably the seventh or eighth time I've listened to that audio of the touchdown drive over the past 24 hours, first pulling it and then editing
and spicing it and putting it together.
And every time I hear the audio of Gronk making that catch, my eyes well up.
Because we didn't know it at the time.
Maybe we sensed it.
Maybe a part of us felt it.
Maybe we did know it deep down.
That was his last catch with him announcing his retirement.
What a way for him to go out.
Two huge catches on the game's only touchdown drive.
And the big one laying out to get them a first and goal situation.
And the Patriots doing what they do best.
Finding a matchup with the personnel package they were using.
Running a play out of that matchup they hadn't done all year, but they were ready for it.
They get four big completions on the drive.
Again, three of them on Haas-Wyjuke.
And Michelle caps it off with the game's only touchdown.
The Patriots take an 8-10-3 lead.
But the Rams weren't done.
They weren't going away.
And on their next possession, they would drive down.
Jared Goff seemed to get in a bit of a rhythm.
He hit Josh Reynolds for 11 to get it into Patriots territory.
He hit Robert Woods for 17 to get it down to the Patriots' 27-yard line.
On second down, he took a deep shot for Brandon Cooks,
who was defended by Stephon Gilmore, and the pass fell incomplete.
So the Rams faced a second and 10 at the Patriots' 27-yard line
with 424 remaining in Super Bowl LIII.
And this defense had yet another big play up their sleeve. Gilmore jumps up and grabs it.
Goff had to unload it.
They were blitzing him.
They went all-out pressure.
Belichick waited the whole game to send it,
and Gilmore wasn't going to get beat deep,
waiting for the big-time interception.
The Patriots bring an all-out pressure package.
Goff under duress attempts a throw down the right side to Brandon Cooks,
and he underthrows it due to the pressure.
Stephon Gilmore's there waiting for it,
and he makes the interception at the Patriots' own four-yard line.
And they take over possession, first to turn on their own four,
with 4.17 left in Super Bowl LIII.
It's time for one of those, well, what do you call them,
those four-minute drives, right, where you bleed some clock, you you work some clock and maybe you come away with some points at the end and you make it almost impossible for your opponent to pull out a win and the Patriots would do that
they would get two huge runs on this drive first on a second and nine from their five yard line
Sonny Michelle would go right tackle for 26 yards getting the Patriots some breathing room
and a first and ten at their 31
then on a second and seven on their own 41 yard line Rex Burkett would go left tackle again for
26 getting the Patriots a first and ten at the Rams 33 yard line three running attempts including
the Sonny Michelle run on 31 at the 24 net adjust nine yards. Michel was stopped for no gain on that 3rd and 1.
And the Patriots took their second time out with 1.16 left.
Bleeding the clock down before burning out Stephen Koskowski
for a 41-yard field goal try.
To win the Super Bowl.
1.16 to go, 41 yards.
Cardona to Alex Koskowski.
It's good.
Six titles.
Nine appearances.
And this didn't get in by a much good snap good hold and it
does go in and when you're good it always finds a way when it matters and I
tell you what how about the drive to go close it out well that drive and the
touchdown drive ten points in the quarter for New England.
They've been here.
They've been in so many close games.
They just know how to do it.
And you see Tom Brady.
Enjoy it, folks.
You're never, ever going to see it again.
Your Super Bowl 53 final score, New England Patriots 13, Los Angeles Rams 3.
Up next, we're going to talk about the game's pivotal play
as well as what we learned, not just in this game,
but over the course of this year.
You know, revisiting the Patriots season
and the format that we did gave us insight,
perhaps some needed insight,
given the benefit of time and to their 2018 campaign.
So that's what's ahead here in this final chapter,
this final installment of 2018
Revisited here at Locked On Patriots.
Mark Schofield back with you now.
Going to close out this entire series
2018 Revisited with
the final pivotal play as well
as some final thoughts on this 2018
season. And let's talk about
that Jason McCourty pass breakup.
Now this play comes a first and 10
of the Patriots 29 yard line 342 left in the third quarter Rams have Jared Goff under center the ball
at the right hash mark CJ Anderson in the game and they've got a three receiver bunch with tight end
and two receivers to the right as well as just a single receiver, Brandon Cooks, to the left.
And actually, it's two tight ends.
It's 12 personnel.
So they have two tight ends and a receiver to the right in a bunch.
And then Brandon Cooks alone on the left.
Balls on the right hash mark.
The Patriots drop into cover four.
They got two safeties, two two cornerbacks all carrying a quarter
of the field quarters coverage and off of play action the Rams run stop me if you've heard this
before they run Yankee concept I've been talking about the Yankee concept over the entire run of
my two years here hosting the show you have a crossing route from the right and you have the
deep post route over the top of that from
brandon cooks from the left and this is a play that as alluded to earlier the patriots had seen
from the rams in this game and they were worried about the post route and so both safeties were
going to cut that crossing route over the middle of the field opening up the middle of the field
requiring the cornerback in this case station mourty, to let that crossing route go and replace those safeties in the middle of the field.
But there is that extra element to this because Jared Goff comes out of this play-action fake
and settles at the depth of his drop at around the 38-yard line. and he is looking at Cooks. And at this moment, Cooks is at the 18-yard line.
He's still outside the left hash,
and he still has the two safeties in the middle of the field.
Now, as Goff sort of resets his feet and keeps looking at Cooks,
the two safeties now vacated the middle of the field to jump the crosser.
And Cooks is at the 10-yard line, a step behind the closest safety with his left arm extended, asking for the football.
And he's just outside, maybe two yards outside the left hash mark. at this moment in time, if you just take a snapshot of this moment, is on the other side
of the field at the bottom of the numbers at the 12-yard line. That is a lot of distance between
the two players that converge on this pivotal moment in Super Bowl 53. Now, Goff takes two
shuffle steps and then throws under duress. And when he releases this ball,
Cooks is alone at the two-yard line on the left hash mark. Jason McCourty is still at the bottom
of the numbers, now at the six-yard line. And he has to get all the way to the back of the end zone. And the ball hangs just long enough for McCourty to close.
And as Cooks wraps his hands around the football,
rake that right arm of Cooks and prevent the completion
and what could have been a huge touchdown for the Rams in this game.
It is an incredible job by McCourty to close on this and cover this distance
in that period of time, at that moment, to prevent a touchdown. Sitting here right now,
watching it over and over again, I do not know how he gets there. The main culprit,
I think if you're a Rams fan, is the hesitation from Jared Goff. Because
as I walked you through it, Cooks is at the 10-yard line, left arm extended, behind the safeties,
asking for the ball when Goff sort of hits his depth. If he just releases it at that moment,
this is a touchdown. I think in some sense, goff might have been worried about the other safety
there are two safeties in the middle of the field here one has already clearly declared that he's
jumping that cross and the other that's on the right hash mark away from brandon cooks maybe
goff needs to make sure maybe in his mind he wants to make sure before he throws this, that that safety
isn't going to jump and replace. Because if that's what happens, this could potentially be
intercepted. So Goff wants to make sure. And once he takes those shuffle steps and sees that safety
also coming across, then he lets this go. But that is just enough time to allow Jason McCourty to
sort of read what is going on and start making his break. Because that's when he sees what is happening,
starts accelerating towards the back of the end zone,
and that gives him the time to cover up that distance,
make up that ground, and make this huge play.
Now, let's put it all in perspective.
Three Super Bowl titles in five years.
As you heard Bob Sochi on the call with Scott Zolak earlier,
yes, still a dynasty.
Two wins and three straight
appearances for this New England Patriots
team.
Just remember and think back
just through the course of doing
these shows. The ups and the
downs of the season. A season that began
with, I termed it sort
of unease about how
the Patriots ended last year
with that loss in Super Bowl 52.
There was unease about what the Patriots were going to look like,
how they were going to fare.
You had the Julian Edelman suspension to start the season.
You had back-to-back losses in weeks two and three on the road
against teams that would not make the playoffs, teams that would struggle.
And it looked like they couldn't get things going.
Sonny Michel was being called the bust in certain corners of New England media.
You know, then they have a nice little stretch where they win six games.
They right the ship.
They get the 7-2.
They got the bye week coming.
And then you've got, you know, a December with five games in December.
The Patriots historically so great in December.
But then they lay an absolute egg right before the bye in that loss at Tennessee.
Then they come back and they have a win against the Jets, that win against Minnesota.
You think maybe things are getting back to form.
We're into December now.
Patriots always so good in December.
Brady always so good closing out seasons.
They dropped two losses on the road.
The Miami loss, the way that went down it
was a gut punch type of a loss pittsburgh they lose again brady in both of those games making
some uncharacteristic mistakes in situational moments taking a sack without any timeouts before
the half against miami the failed throw away they got intercepted by joe hayden you know and that
was a team that it's suddenly it's nine5. They're in the third spot now,
and they might have to play at home on wild card weekend.
Historically a rough spot for New England.
We all remember that Baltimore game.
But then they sort of get to 11-5.
They have easy schedule.
Buffalo at home.
They win that game.
They don't look great.
I'm still worried about Brady in the passing game.
They have a nice convincing win in the season finale, 38-3.
They get into the second spot.
They host a divisional round game.
And then they seem to finally just put it all together.
And that's sort of a hallmark of Belichick teams.
The ability to sort of play your best football in the tournament.
That's what the Patriots did.
A convincing win over the Chargers.
A road win at Arrowhead against the team
that everybody thought was going to walk to the Super Bowl
in the Kansas City Chiefs.
And that was a game that they won in overtime.
And yes, there's been a lot of talk about
Mahomes never got the football.
But let's face it, Brady,
if he doesn't throw that interception early in the game,
this game could have looked a lot differently.
And so the Patriots found a way to pull that one out.
And then they play a Rams team that had this high-flying offense
and a terrifying pass rush, and they find a way to win yet again.
And in the ultimate moment, they go to something that they hadn't really done
out of a personnel package.
They go to a staple play of theirs three straight times
because they get the matchup they want.
And Tom Brady delivers, and Robert Gronkowski in what should be his final catch as an NFL tight end might have been the biggest of his career. And so a tremendous ride
from start to finish. It was genuinely an honor to cover it for you. My second full year here,
my second full season,
covering the Patriots for you on a daily basis.
You know, last year was, it was new to me.
It was, you know, I was figuring a lot out on the fly.
I was, I took over the show right before the season started.
And we had a nice run to a Super Bowl.
The Patriots couldn't pull out Super Bowl 52.
And so as we got into this year, I had figured out the routine.
I had figured out how to do my job.
And it was a joy to cover this day in and day out.
There were highs.
There were lows.
It was a grind at times.
You know, when this team was 1-2, we're all sort of questioning some things.
But they ended up, you know, getting back to a podium
and getting their hands back on the Lombardi trophy and,
you know, to cover a Super Bowl and do a postgame show in which the Patriots won.
You know, again, it was an honor. This show is for me an honor to do every single day.
You know, there are times when it's a grind. There are times when, you know, it's June and
you're coming up with ideas. But the fact of the matter is I've got people around the world that tune in to hear about this team from me.
And that's a privilege that I get to do this.
I don't take it for granted.
I truly appreciate each and every one of you that listens to this show day in and day out.
I truly appreciate all of you at the Locked On Patriots Slack channel and beyond that interact with me on a daily basis. I know, look, in this day and age, there are so many different things competing for your
time from your day-to-day responsibilities to all the entertainment options at your fingertips.
I'm lucky that people pay attention to the show.
I'm lucky that people listen to the show.
It blows my mind every day that people actually want to hear what I have to say about this
team. And I don't take it for granted. And I try to do the best job I can on a day in and day
out basis. You know, putting these shows, it takes a long time to pull all this stuff together.
But I do it because people want to hear it and people enjoy it. And I enjoy bringing it to you.
So it's been a blast putting these together. That will do it for today's show. That will do it for this series.
Putting to bed part one
of the two-part offseason plan.
Really, it's a three-part offseason plan.
Tomorrow, we're going to talk a little bit about some
catch-all type of stuff. We're going to probably dive back
into Nick Cassero for a bit.
Tom Brady working out with Josh Gordon and stuff like that.
And then next Monday, we are back
with part two of the offseason program
here at Locked On Patriots. Patriots A to
Z. We're going to go two letters a day
A and B kicking off on Monday.
We're going to talk players. We're going to talk concepts and
scheme stuff and we're going to talk about moments.
Basically it's going to give you
your Patriots, your New England Patriots Encyclopedia
in podcast form
over the next couple of weeks. That's
part two of the offseason program. Then
we're doing some best of.
Probably one, maybe two weeks of best of stuff.
Shows maybe you haven't listened to in a while.
Some of the Super Bowl recap shows I did last season.
We'll do some of the 2018 revisited stuff,
some of the other stuff.
We'll air some of those as your boy
recharges the batteries a bit.
And then we're into training camp.
And so that's kind of the patriots a to z is going
to get us like into july and then those first couple of weeks of july we're going to slow things
down and then once the patriots pick up training camp we are back five days a week through super
bowl 54 hopefully maybe lombardi number seven who knows but that's the plan ahead so that will do it
for today i will be back tomorrow
until next time again thank you each and every one of you for listening
and keep it locked here to me mark schoolfield and locked on patriots you
