They clean the clock out of Cleveland at Gillette Stadium today.
And on today's live stream, Ramandre Stevenson continues to make Mike Vrable look great for believing in him.
Also, the defense continues to get off to slow start.

Patriots win, 32, 13, they beat down the Cleveland Browns in the second half of this football game.
And we have to start with Drake May because Drake May is becoming inevitable.
What he is doing week in and week out, I don't know if it's a surprise anymore, the way he's playing football this year.
Let me give you some stats and some thoughts here.
Ben Solac of ESPN posted.
Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz has coached 49 regular and postseason games in Cleveland.
Drake May's 54.5% dropback success rate against the Browns is the second best quarterbacked game against this defense in Schwartz's tenure.
What we saw today from Drake May was the second best quarterback game against this Cleveland Browns defense.
since Jim Schwartz has been in Cleveland.
And this is every single week we get to wax poetic about Drake May and what he's doing.
I get to sit here and speak with all of you in the post game, giving you all of these stats.
The Pat's Communication Department posted.
Drake May is now the fifth player in NFL history to produce 200 plus passing yards
and a 100 plus passer rating in seven consecutive games.
He joins Aaron Rogers, who did it in 2020 and 2011.
He joins Patrick Mahomes, who did it in 2018, Tom Brady, 2007, and Peyton Manning in 2004.
More from the Patriots Communications Department.
Drake May now has the most games with 200 passing yards, plus passing yards, a 135-plus
passer rating, and two plus passing touchdowns in a single season in team history with five.
He has officially surpassed Tom Brady from 2007, and Drake May is now tied for the second most in a single season in NFL history.
The second most games with 200 plus passing yards, a 135 plus passer rating, and two plus passing touchdowns.
It's not hyperbolic to tell you that Drake May is having a season for the first eight weeks of this year.
He's having a season that very few quarterbacks have been able to put together.
He has been that unbelievable.
Oh, and by the way, he does all of that today facing the best defense he has faced this season.
I talked about it on the preview Friday's episode.
This was going to be the toughest test, the stiffest test for Drake May and this offense,
what Cleveland brings to the table.
And early on in the first half, we saw that.
I had said this was going to be a fist fight in a phone booth.
And it was a fist fight in a phone booth in the first half.
The score at halftime was 9-7.
And Drake May was getting hit.
He was getting sacked.
By the way, Miles Garrett, thank God.
He is not on the schedule the rest of this season because he had five sacks all by
himself, which is just absolutely crazy.
So Drake May is getting hit.
Drake may is getting sacked.
only nine points on the board in the first half.
I thought the Patriots moved the football pretty well on a couple of occasions,
but they just couldn't finish in the red zone.
But you know what we saw from Drake May today?
We saw resiliency.
We saw somebody who throws an interception for the first time in weeks.
He throws that pick.
He obviously doesn't see Carson Schwessinger in coverage dropping.
He throws it right to him.
Bad interception.
But what happens when Drake May gets?
back out on the field. Touch pass down the seam to Austin Hooper for 31 yards. A layered throw
to Mack Hollins for another 21 yards. You want to talk about resiliency? Just through a bad
pick is facing pressure. One of the best defensive players in all of football is having a day.
And he just moseys on out there and moves the ball down the field. La-di-da with a couple of
very nice throws. But then you get into halftime.
And what we saw after Drake Man this offense came out of the locker room in the third quarter was straight up dominance.
There's no other way to put it.
That was a dominant quarter from your quarterback.
It was a dominant quarter from this offense.
The first drive of the second half, you have the double pass to Matt Collins.
That's not an easy pass.
It's a trick play.
Ramandre Stevenson gets it back to May.
And he's got pressure barreling down in his face.
He takes a hit, but he throws it at the perfect time, just gets rid of it, and hits Hollins in stride for 20 yards.
Then he has the bootleg action rolling to his right.
We told you we'd see some bootleg action from Drake May against this defense, and you had the bootleg off the play action.
Easy touchdown throw to Hunter Henry.
So you get right into the end zone, first drive after halftime.
And it just feels like Cleveland started to get deflated there.
And it felt like they knew they were not going to be able to put enough points up on the board.
And the Patriots offense had found a little bit of a rhythm on that drive.
And I'll talk about that drive in specifics later on regarding Josh McDaniels
because I thought that was his best play-calling drive of this season so far.
But Drake May, the resiliency.
And then you had the third drive in the third quarter when Drake May has the 28-yard scramble
up the middle of the field.
And good job by Drake, because he got.
got down. He didn't take the hit. He got down to the ground. So he gets a 28-yard scramble,
and he follows that up with the dime, the bucket throw to Kishan Booty over the top of the
coverage. 39-yard touchdown bucket throw. Game was effectively over at that point. You want to know
how good Drake May was in the second half of this game? Evan Lazar posted, Drake May put up a perfect
passer rating in the second half. Perfect. A 158.3 passer rating. That's what Drake May did
against the best defense he's faced in the second half of this football game. He's inevitable.
It's becoming ridiculous. He is ripping teams apart. Drake May in the second half today was
eight for eight, 114 yards, not one, not two, but three touchdowns.
And I thought we talked about after the game last weekend in Tennessee, some of Drake May's scrambling decisions.
He was a little quick to run.
Now, I'll have to see when I watch the game over again tomorrow morning, when I look at the All-22 and I look at where guys open when Drake May tucked and ran.
But I'll say this.
It seemed to me he was not as quick to run from the pocket today.
He protected himself when he ran with the football.
And he remained a passer on a couple of occasions.
So Drake May was just tremendous again today.
We say it every single week.
He's been a top five quarterback.
You can now argue he is a top three quarterback through eight weeks.
This is not a one month sample.
This is not a couple of weeks.
This is not a quote unquote hot run.
You are now about halfway through the season.
And Drake May statistically, analytically, the eye test.
He's one of the best quarterbacks in all of football.
Unequivocally, unequivocally, one of the best quarterbacks in the
entire league eight weeks in and this defense is not easy we talked about all of the challenges
the receivers were having a tough time against man coverage in the first half but there he is
again being inevitable drake may was terrific terrific in that second half all right this defense
is incredibly predictable week in and week out as they once again figure things out on this
Sunday. We'll talk about that next. This is Lockdown Patriots, part of the Lockdown
Podcast Network, your team every day.

We talk about Drake May being inevitable at this point through eight weeks of the season.
And the defense to me is incredibly predictable through eight weeks of this season.
Maybe we just have to embrace this.
And I said it last week.
Maybe we just have to get comfortable with the idea that this defense is not going to be good first drive of the game.
Like, maybe we should just wave the white flag, first drive of the game.
Maybe we can save some time and save some hits and just put seven points up on the board for the opposing team and not even have to go through the first drive, not even have to witness the first drive.
Because again, for the sixth time this year, six out of eight games, the opposition opens the game with a touchdown drive.
And it's so maddening.
The Patriots have the Browns dead to rights, that they're in a perfect situation.
It's third down and long.
And then Marta Mapu is late to the coverage.
He gets picked off.
They give up a chunk play.
And then the Browns are on their way.
And what do you know, a touchdown drive?
Six out of the eight games.
This is now a trend.
And it's pretty much predictable every single week when we walk into a Sunday.
but then what also is incredibly predictable is after that first the opening drive for that offense
and that is inevitably it feels like going to be six points for the opposition.
It's also incredibly predictable that after that first drive, for the most part,
the Patriots defense is going to be nails.
The Patriots defense is going to lock you down.
They are going to shut you down.
And again, that's what we saw.
Look, let's not get it twisted.
The second touchdown of this game for the Cleveland Browns offense was because your punter was a shankopatomis.
What was it, a 15-yard punt? Chris Myers said, a 15-yard punt.
Cleveland had to drive less than 30 yards to get that second touchdown.
I'm not putting that on the defense.
That second touchdown is completely on Bryce Banger and the shankopatomis we saw.
The one thing you can't do as a punter when you have a big lead in the fourth quarter is shank a punt.
But there it was, a 15-yard punt.
But this defense over and over and over again,
I called it, you know, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde this past week.
From what you see on the first drive,
the first couple drives compared to what you see the rest of the game,
it could not be any different.
I mean, and you can't really get upset about it.
It's frustrating to see the opening touchdown every week.
But how can you be upset?
Because, again, this defense keeps an offense at 20 points or less.
And the way that Drake May is playing, if your defense keeps an offense to 20 points max,
you're going to win the vast majority of your games.
If your quarterback is ripping, shredding defenses and your defense, yes, bends a little bit
every once in a while, yes, we'll give up that opening touchdown.
But if they continue to play the way they play from the end of the first quarter slash
beginning of the second quarter to the rest of the game, as we see every single week,
if they continue to play that type of football, you're going to win a lot of games.
and that's why you're six and two.
Yes, Drake May is cooking.
That is absolutely a fact.
We talked about it in the first segment,
but your defense,
their ability to shut down offenses
for two and a half, three quarters
is another reason why you're sitting here at six and two.
Predictable this defense is.
You give up the opening drive touchdown.
What else is predictable,
not only the absolute nails after that drive,
is you can't run on this defense.
James Cook, who had over 200 yards rushing today, could not run on this defense.
Rico Dowdle in Chuba Hubbard for Carolina.
Obviously, Ruko Dado a couple weeks ago against Dallas had, what, 200 plus yards?
Rico Dadoo Chuba Hubbard could not run on this defense.
I mean, you go into today, Quinchon Junkins could not run against this defense.
Quinchon Junkins finished with nine carries, 19 yards before he left with an injury.
That's just over two yards per carry.
This run defense is one of the best run defenses in all of football.
They've played good offensive lines.
They've played some good backs, and it doesn't matter.
Every single week, you can't run against this defense.
They make you one-dimensional every week.
Dylan Gabriel, this game was on his shoulders in the second half,
and we saw how that worked out for Cleveland.
So this defense is incredibly predictable.
They'll give up that opening touchdown.
they'll mostly shut it down the rest of the way they will not allow you any breathing room
in the run game they will make it all about your quarterback here's another cool thing
that we're starting to see the defense is creating turnovers how about Jalen Hawkins
I mean my goodness that interception by Jalen Hawkins was spectacular that's one of the
most unbelievable interceptions I've seen at any level of football diving
one-handed grab. Somehow he picks it, hits the ground, doesn't lose control of the football.
That was a spectacular play from Jalen Hawkins.
Robert Spillane continues to play good football after you got off to a slow start the first
couple weeks this year. He's running around. He's smoking people, right? He's sticking people
helping in the run game. And then he comes up with the interception on the crossing route. He
read that like a book. Nice return. You get it into the
low red zone for your offense so you're creating turnovers and again the defense scored some points
today with the safety travion henderson we'll get to this in a little bit but travion
henderson has the fumble and you're going oh man that's unfortunate for the rookie right unfortunate
for the rookie the defense though hey dilling gabriel is now at the one yard line his feet are in
the end zone his body's in the end zone his own end zone and now you pin your ears back you know
that they're not going to be able to run the football.
And the Patriots, they do the job.
The Patriots defense does the job.
They get pressure on Gabriel.
He throws it away to nobody.
And you get a safety.
You get two points.
I thought Christian Gonzalez was fantastic today.
You know, some of the coverage stuff that you see that's obvious,
the past breakup in the end zone when it was one-on-one against Jerry Judy.
He was all over Jerry Judy.
He forced Judy out of bounds.
That play had absolutely no chance.
I don't know why if you're the Cleveland Browns
and you're Dylan Gabriel, you're Kevin Stefansky.
I have no idea.
I have no idea why on God's Green Earth,
you would challenge Christian Gonzalez on a fade route to the end zone.
And he was all over it.
He was all over it.
Jerry Judy had no chance.
But it goes beyond the coverage.
I also thought that Christian Gonzalez was a willing and able tackler today.
I feel like it was eons ago when people were wondering
if Christian Gonzalez would be able to tackle at the NFL level.
if he was physical enough.
He came downhill on a couple of occasions today,
and he made some tackles.
So I thought his tackling was on point.
I thought his coverage was on point.
Now, again, I'll have to rewatch the game tomorrow morning,
and we'll see what the All-22 shows,
but it felt like this was Christian Gonzalez's best game
since he came back from that hamstring injury.
And I thought the Patriots, you know, the first half,
they struggled with tackling.
They had a couple of his tackles.
We talked about that on the preview.
show on Friday. The idea of you can't give up yards after the catch, you can't give up, you know,
extra yards to this Brown's offense because the Brown's offense is not great. And you had some
mistackles early on the first drive, Marcus Jones, Craig Woodson. They had a mistackle each.
Robert Spillane had a mistackle when he went for the football. It looked like he was trying to
rip the football out of the hands of the ball carrier instead of just wrapping up. So they had a
couple of mistackles in the first half. They had some miscommunications.
in the first half between their coverages.
But I thought that got ironed out in the second half.
The tackling was much better.
The coverage was much better.
And once again, this defense, as they do every week,
they give up the early score, and then you have no chance.
We see it every week.
So I thought much better tackling after a few early misses.
And I'll say it again, if you keep 18 to 20 points or less
with the way your quarterback is playing,
you have a fantastic shot of winning that.
football game and that's why you've won five straight all right let's discuss the best
offensive player on the field today that was not named drake may we'll get to that and more

I should have done this earlier. Don't forget to help a brother out. Don't forget to help a podcast

7,000 subs by today, by this live post game. And we did. I can't thank you guys enough.
I mean, honestly, I can't thank all of you enough for the support of this show over the past
six, seven months since I've been here with lockdown. Don't forget to click that
thumbs up. If you're watching us right now on YouTube, whether live or on demand, don't forget
to throw a comment in. How are you feeling about five straight wins from these Patriots as they sit at
six and two. And don't forget to subscribe. The running backs were awesome. The running backs were
awesome today. Let me start with Ramandre Stevenson. You go back several weeks ago. Remandre has
the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. And of course, we're all talking about it. Remandre
Stevenson, should he be benched? Can you trust Remandre Stevenson? What is Mike Vrable doing? Why is he
standing by this guy? He had fumbled problems last year. A lot of people wanted to literally, a lot of people,
I don't know. I don't have an exact number. I didn't do a survey across the country,
but there were a number of people who wanted the Patriots to cut Ramandre Stevenson after
that Steelers game. And Mike Vrable stood up at the podium and he said he believed in
Ramandre Stevenson and he was going to stand by him. And boy, remandre is making Mike Vrable
look like a genius. I thought Stevenson was awesome today. He was running the football with anger
and finish. How about the one run when he stopped at the line of scrimmage, keeps the legs
moving, spins out of the traffic and gets a nine-yard gain? He's running hard. He's running
angry. And I've said this now for a number of weeks. Remandre Stevenson as a blocker is one of the
main reasons why he is out there playing as much as he is, is one of the main reasons why Mike Vrable
stood by him, because if you saw it today, again, three or four different times,
there's Stevenson with a blitz pickup, stoning the blitzer, stopping him, stopping him in
his tracks.
So I thought Ramandre was fantastic running the football.
I thought he was fantastic in his pickup of blitzes, past protection.
And how about Ramandre Stevenson as a receiver?
Now, the play downfield, unfortunately, didn't count.
That was a tremendous catch for a running back to make.
he didn't keep his feet in but how about lining remandre stevenson up as your boundary receiver
and having your running back with the ability to run a slant i mean how about that
before the season kicked off i discussed the idea of having your running backs the time
antonio gipson i of course was part of the plan but antonio gipson remandre stevenson
their ability to be receivers and to hurt defenses you saw a little bit of that from remandre today
so i thought he was tremendous and then you get to travi on
Henderson and I know he had the late
fumble and that hurts
that really hurts and I feel bad
I take some of the responsibility because I
jinxed them. I posted
that Trayvion Henderson
was having his best NFL game
and you love to see it and literally
like a minute later, dude fumbles.
So I apologize Patriots fans.
I apologize Trayvion Henderson.
That one's on me.
But before that fumble, you
saw the Trayvion Henderson that we've been
waiting to see. You
saw the explosivity.
You saw him get to the second level.
And this was by far his most impactful game in the NFL to this point of his career.
Again, the fumble stinks.
I don't think it's going to hurt him.
I don't think Vrable is going to sit him because of what we just mentioned about,
Ramandre Stevenson.
But I thought he looked as good as he's looked all year.
Great job by Josh McDaniels to get Henderson out on the perimeter.
The thing that I love the most about Henderson's game today was,
his patience. There was the one run where he showed fantastic patience. I believe it was a pitch
play. It's off the top of my head. It was like a pitch play. And Henderson's running to the
outside, outside right tackle Morgan Moses. And Cleveland's pursuit looks pretty good. But we've talked
about Trayvion Henderson and his lack of patience at times running into piles. He didn't do that
today. He showed that patience. He waited for things to open up a little bit.
and then he gets a nice positive run.
So I thought his patience was there.
I thought he ran with good finish,
just like Ramadre Stevenson did today.
So absolutely, again,
if it wasn't for that fumble,
it would be an A plus plus,
but absolutely a step in the right direction for Henderson today.
Mac Hollins, I thought was really good.
Seven catches, 89 yards.
The old favorite receiver is the open receiver for Drake May,
proving it again.
Mac Hollins, seven catches.
That's a lot.
And really, anything you get from,
Mac Hollins in the passing game is a bonus because we talk about his blocking all the time
and what he brings as a bigger receiver.
Mac Hollins was really good.
Stefan Diggs finally gets in the end zone.
And here's my thought about that.
Did you see the reaction?
Did you see the reaction from the Patriots' sidelines when Stefan Diggs went over to the
sideline after that touchdown?
And Drake May after the game said that the Patriots were busting Stefan Diggs's chops
about not having any touchdowns this year.
saying that, you know, Kalevon Chase on had more touchdowns than Diggs had going into this game.
And so it's been a running storyline.
But Mike Vrable embraces Diggs.
The defense embraces Diggs.
The offense embraces Diggs.
And that, to me, just screams culture.
Marcus Jones said last week, this is the closest team.
I think it was Marcus Jones.
Pretty sure it was Marcus Jones.
It was either Marcus Jones or Pop Douglas saying this was the closest team that he has been involved with.
And you saw that on that Diggs touchdown.
the reaction from everybody to a man on the sidelines.
They're all celebrating with Diggs.
This is a team that's bought in.
The head coach is celebrating.
Diggs is celebrating with the head coach.
Vrable even did the whole Diggs celebration thing
with the covering the nose and the waving of the hand.
That's the culture.
This team really nothing but positive vibes eight weeks in.
Like everyone is in on this thing.
And I also want to give a hat tip to,
Josh McDaniels, who I thought the first drive of the second half, he was a wizard of play
calling. Second and four, shotgun formation, split back, you fake it to Ramandre, you pitch it to Henderson,
seven yards. First and ten, you got the double pass trick play, Hollins for 20 yards.
You follow that up with a first and ten shotgun formation, speed option, Drake May to Ramandre
Stevenson for four yards. You follow that up with an undercenter jet sweep to Pop Douglas for

Six and two, five in a row.
