Good afternoon.
I'm Chris Simino, your host of Locked On Patriots, your source for everything Patriots.
It's game day.
Welcome to our pregame podcast, something we're going to feature every week for the
rest of the season, right here on Locked On Patriots.
There is a lot to get to today with the injuries, with the game about 49 minutes from now.
Let's talk about any roster moves that were made in the last 24 hours, who's going to
be active, and who's not going to be active, and let's get down to business.
So the Patriots inactives for today could lead to us Bengals actually having a little bit of luck on offense,
something they haven't had much of this year.
Linebacker Jamie Collin leads the list.
He is out with a hip injury.
That is a big loss for the Patriots.
That is a huge advantage for the Bengals, so let's see how the Patriots deal with that.
Running back Brandon Bolden is still out.
Defensive end slash linebacker Shane McClellan is also out
another hit to the linebacking core
quarterback Cyrus Jones is a healthy
scratch, not a surprise
Vincent Valentine, rookie defensive lineman
still over the back injury
tackle Adrian Waddell
is still out, another good depth player that the
Patriots could use back in the offensive line
and quarterback Justin Coleman
is another one who is a healthy scratch
who will not be playing today.
So the Patriots do have some guys that they lean on,
especially Collins being probably the best player on their defense.
So he is out today, so guys are going to have to step up.
So we'll see what happens.
Bengals are also not looking so hot.
Tyler Rife being out again is huge. So so for the Bengals quarterback Jeff Driscoll wide receiver Cody Core defensive back Kavari Russell
quarterback Cheeky Brown offensive lineman Christian Westerman defensive lineman Deshaun
Williams and again tight end Tyler Eifert which is the big one the loss of Eifert for that
Bengals offense is I won't say it's as big as Collins for the Patriots defense but
it's close considering that the red zone woes for the Bengals have pretty much
been caused by his loss and along with who said earlier Sunu and Marvin Jones
but the Bengals are gonna need to get it going today if they want to win they
need to score and they need to not kick field goals.
They need to score touchdowns.
So no effort equals lots of trouble in the red zone again.
So let's see how they handle it.
Both teams have missed some major pieces,
but I think the loss of Jamie Collins is going to have a huge effect overall on the defense.
Linebacker Jonathan Freeney was also placed on injured reserve yesterday.
So Landon Roberts, a rookie linebacker who had a great game last week,
he needs to step up again, take on a huge role for this linebacking corps.
This is how guys become players.
This is when guys all of a sudden, you know,
when Landon Roberts ends up on the map as a kid that can play,
a kid the Patriots found as a rookie free agent, and he can play.
You know, it happens.
You've got to slip through the cracks,
and let's see if Roberts can step up today for the Patriots
and do what they need him to do.
It's always good to have depth.
Let's take a minute to hear from our sponsor.
Five weeks is officially in the books,
so if you haven't got your FanDuel roster in yet,
you better get it done because you've 44, 46 minutes to get it done. 46 minutes until game time here for the 1 o'clock.
Last week was kind of rough for me. I had a good week with Martellus Bennett, but
the rest of my guys didn't do so good. But that's okay because I can basically
tear up that roster and start all over. Did your fantasy team do good last
week? How you doing so far in the season?
Are you in a traditional league?
Well, you don't have to worry about that, a fan duel.
Every week is a new week, so it's great.
Fantasy football for everyday fans, so you don't have to be an expert.
If you want to jump in and join and go on,
take a look at what the cost is of each player.
That way you have to decide on your salary cap.
And you go from there.
No busted seasons, along with busted ACLs.
That's just not fun when your top players get hurt and there's really nothing to watch anymore.
Over our FanDuel, you don't have to worry about that.
You just start all over the next week.
Just pick your contest, choose your team,
and watch your team score in real time.
It's fun.
Try beginner contests for new players.
So if you've never done it before, you can join in with some beginners,
and that way you're not going up against some of the experts that have been doing it for a long time.
And you experts don't try sneaking in there because they're going to know.
You can settle a score with friends in the head-to-head contest.
It's something that I do on a regular basis.
Also, another one that I'm a big fan of, try the 50-50 contest
where the top half wins cash.
You can play in larger tournaments for
even more excitement, which may cost
a little more, but again, it's pretty exciting.
Or you can play for a dollar.
Choices for every budget. You can play for a dollar,
but you win a little bit more than that, that's for sure.
This week's Sunday Million Contest
is paying over $2 million,
$200,000 going to first place
for me, I love it on FanDuel
I've had fun ever since I started using it a few years back
if you're somebody that likes to keep an eye on the fantasy stats
and you've got your own team going
it's even more fun when you're doing it
when you're throwing in the dollar
and you've got a chance to win $100
so it's a good time
so I would definitely get
over to fan duel so what you should do is try fan duel now get up to 50 and free entries new users
who deposit will get five free entries to nfl 50 50 beginner contest valued at up to 50 you'll get
one free entry a week for five weeks value of free entries varies based on deposit amount. Go to Fanduel.com, click the Join Now button,

So, the question going into this game,
44 minutes away from the game,
can the Bengals' defense
stop the Patriots' offense?
Well, that's a pretty short answer.
The answer is no,
and I'm going to explain why.
The Bengals, as we stated on Friday
in our earlier podcast,
they've been averaged defensively.
They give up 11th in the league in yards allowed, and they also allow 22 points per game, which
is right in the middle, the 16th in the league.
Like I said, they're very average.
But when you're allowing 22 points per game to regular teams, it's going to be a little
different when you're up against Tom Brady and the Patriots jugging out of an offense.
They've struggled to defend the run.
They've given up 114 yards per game rushing.
That's also 20th in the NFL.
And the Patriots have had a good year running the ball.
Last week they got shut down a little bit,
but I think if they put more of a focus on it
and they continue to put a focus on it, they're going to keep it going.
So this season has been good, and I think the Bengals are going to have a focus on it they're going to keep it going so this season has
been good and i think the bangles are going to have a tough time stopping the run today
and that's going to be a recipe for disaster for them um i don't see how they're going to stop
kronkowski and bennett combination either i just it looks like something that team's going to have
to take a long time to figure out how to stop you know even if they try to use four defenders with
those two tight ends brady's going to go out and to stop. Even if they try to use four defenders with those two tight ends, Brady's
going to go out and find his wide receivers
and running backs that are open instead.
So there really is no way to slow down this offense
with Brady running it, so the Bengals are
going to need to force turnovers to keep this close.
The only way they're going to force turnovers
is to force fumbles, and this team
has been pretty secure with the ball.
So I think the Patriots are going to
score a ton of points today. I think the Bengots are going to score a ton of points today.
I think the Bengals are going to struggle to stop them.
And the only way that they have a shot is to score a ton of points.
And the loss of Jamie Collins is absolutely going to hurt the Patriots.
And it gives Cincinnati that break, one of the breaks that they need offensively,
something that's been hard to come by.
Can Andy Dalton find his new carpet receivers in the red zone?
Last week,
old friend Brandon LaFell, he caught two garbage time touchdowns versus Dallas. Can that carry over into today's
game? It's the question that all Cincinnati
fans are wondering. My prediction is
that it will to a degree. I do think that
Cincinnati is going to start getting the passing game going.
LaFell does look healthier, and when he's healthy, he can catch the ball,
and he's focused.
He definitely is a different player.
So I think that they're going to get it going a little bit,
and I think the Bengals will score a few points today.
The problem is I think New England is going to score a lot of points today.
My predicted final score is the New England Patriots 42, the Cincinnati Bengals 21.
