All right, let's get down to business.
I know the thing everyone wants to know about is who's in and who's out for today's game,
so let's get caught up on the injury report first and foremost.
Tom Brady, supposed to be a game-time decision,
but that decision has already been made.
He is expected to start.
Brady does have swelling and soreness in his knee,
according to Adam Schefter of ESPN,
but he will be playing in the game anyways.
Rob Gronkowski is also going to play today.
He traveled with the team, and he is ready to go, so Gronk is in.
Martellus Bennett also will play today.
So the Patriots have their two-headed duo there,
the dangerous duo at tight end with Gronk and Bennett. Edelman will play today too. Julian
Edelman's enlisted is questionable for about a month now. He's also back.
Chris Hogan also expected to play today per Adam Schefter.
Cyrus Jones, who landed on the list a little bit late,
he is out. He is out with an illness, and Matthew Slater is also
out. So Slater and Jones out. He is out with an illness. And Matthew Slater is also out.
So Slater and Jones out.
Everybody else that was on the list is expected to play.
So I'm going to project the Patriots in actives.
We've got two easy ones to project, the Cyrus Jones and Matt Slater.
I would also expect Adrian Waddell to be on that list with Alan Branch playing while he waits for his appeal.
I think Woodrow Hamilton would probably be the odd man out on the defensive front. Running back D.J. Foster is also a strong candidate to be
among the seven inactive, especially with the return of
Deion Lewis. Tight end Matt Lengel is another candidate to be inactive
with Gronk and Bennett both playing, but you never know. They might want to roll three tight ends
so that could be a little bit different,
especially when one of the big two gets hurt.
Lastly, I think Eric Rowe will probably take up his residence this week
on the inactive list too,
and that'll do it for Patriots and Actives for today.
I could be wrong.
I was waiting to see if we could get the list to come out
before we recorded the show, but no such luck,
and it's an hour and 25 minutes to game time,
so it's time to get down to business.
We discussed Gronkowski yesterday, and I said I fully expected him to play
after dressing all week for practice.
New England knows that they need to secure home field this year
if they want to get back to the Super Bowl,
so guys need to play through these manageable injuries,
and that's what we're seeing this week.
So it's good to see that Brady and guys
like that, in situations where they may not be able to play in the
past, are actually going to be out there playing.
Like I said, the inactive list hasn't come out yet, so we're going to take a stab at the
inactive list for the Jets, too. Senator Nick Mangold,
he's been dealing with an ankle injury all year. I expect him to be
inactive today, which is a big loss for them. Cornerback Marcus Williams
and cornerback Nick Marshall. Quarterback Christian Hackenberg.
Wide receiver Devin Smith. Running back C.J. Spiller
and linebacker Julian Stanford. Again, these are projected
inactives.
These are not 100% yet.
They're projected.
But cornerbacks Marcus Williams and Nick Marshall are definitely out.
Mangold has only practiced once in the last five weeks,
so again, he's most likely a no-go.
And the other guys on the list probably lose out in the depth chart battle for the Jets.
So I might be off by one or two here, but I don't think I will be.
I think that's pretty much who we're going to see inactive for the Jets today.
But this will most likely be who will be left off their final 46.
So it should be an interesting one again today.
Like I said, I predict the final of 34-16 to Wingland.
Again, if there's any updates with Tom Brady,
we'll provide any updates that we can.
But like you said, like we were told, Brady is fully expected to play today
and should be good to go.
It's just got some swelling and stuff going on in the knee.
