Hmm. Makes sense.
Great morning friends.
Great morning world.
Happy Monday.
Happiest Monday ever.
Last Monday, May 13th of 2020 ever.
This is your boy, Dr. J.C. Dornick, aka.
The Dragon, coming to you with another Make Sense Mondays, another episode of the Make Sense
podcast with me, Dr. J.C. Dornick.
You know how it works.
Make Sense Mondays.
Coming to you live every Monday, 8 a.m. Eastern.
taking the opportunity to reel people in, the sleepwalking masses, reel them into a focus that could be
beneficial rather than just allowing yesterday's program to boot up, just take us where it typically
takes us. So if you're feeling that rumble in your belly and you kind of know that there's
something more inside, and maybe you've been taking note that you might be following the herd and
being persuaded and just going along with everybody else and that there's more, you're going to love this.
It's about taking control, reclaiming control of your life by just waking up and smelling the coffee
and just recognizing that you have a lot of decisions that you can make. You've got a lot of choices.
So great morning, everyone. Great morning. Deb. I see some people filing in. Make sense Mondays are live
and raw, which is what makes them exciting because that's my favorite way to rock the mic. Of course,
something that shows up on the Make Sense podcast in an edited form and shorter or shorter form,
but usually we go about 30 minutes. And today we're going to make sense of where you're going.
We're going to make sense of this idea. I call this, you were born to run, you know, this idea
that we're all on our run. But the question is, is where are we running? You know, what is our
calling? What is our true destination and our destiny of sorts? And I think this is a really,
really cool concept and conversation to have. Great morning to you, Susan. Great morning to all those
that are tuning in live.
And if you're listening to this in the podcast form or in YouTube,
great morning to you.
And if it's not the morning, great afternoon.
So this is a podcast that is rapidly climbing and we're so excited about everybody
tuning into the Make Sense podcast.
I think that the peak of our growth, we hit, I think, somewhere like 35th podcast in the
world in certain categories on iTunes and stuff like that.
So thanks so much, everybody, for following.
and sharing. If you're listening to this or watching this and it's doing something of value,
remember that if you learn something today, give it away. That's how it's going to stay. Pay forward
all that serves you. And what you'll notice is that it serves you times 10. And then everybody
gets where they want to go. Great morning to you, Kathy. So let's jump into this. Let's jump into this idea.
Give some props to our sponsor, the Make Sense Academy, the Make Sense Academy and Make Sense Business
Academy. We've created this really, really cool, it's really my wife's passion project, as well as
a colleague of ours, Jules Loken. We just created this project based on this idea that we kind of
know that everybody wants to be happier, healthier, and wealthier, and they all embrace the idea
that it'd be a lot easier to not do it on their own and the idea of having some sort of a mentor or a
guide or a coach. But then once you get to this place where you say, yeah, that sounds like a
good idea, there's a lot of things that can get in the way, cost.
You. We'll talk a little bit about you today. So we created this amazing concept called the Make Sense Academy. And it's a private community, very, very low cost, high value way of getting mentorship, collaboration, learning everything that it is to know about communication, becoming a master communicator, being able to reframe your mind, change the way you look at things so that the things you look at change, learning the base principles of building businesses and building communities, paid communities,
All of that stuff.
Mental health.
All of that stuff happens in the Make Sense Academy for $24 a month.
Somebody asked me the other day, hey, I want to coach with you.
What do you charge?
And I said $24 a month because it's all live and interactive.
So what we're doing here on Make Sense Mondays, we do that every day in the Make Sense Academy
and we interact live and we just reclaim control as the dominant forces, dominant creators
of our life.
So if you want to check out the Make Sense Academy, you can follow us on all of our socials,
Dr. J.C. Dornick on Instagram.
Find us any way by typing in Rise Up with Dragon or just comment and just say, make sense.
And we'll send you information on how you can find out about that and try it risk-free.
Money-back guarantee.
So let's jump into this.
Let's make sense of you and where you're going and this idea of how you were born to run.
This is a fascinating concept for me, myself, to evaluate, but also in all of those that I observe
and help, I just believe that we were all born to run.
And what I mean by that is I do, at this time, buy into the idea that we have a true
calling and a destination, a job per se, our part, that we come into this world and that's all
laid out for us.
And if nobody gets in the way, you or anybody else, you'll find that the universe will guide
you there.
It'll give you signs and drop insights and little clues, kind of like a little little
trail to follow and you'll find your way. But somewhere along the line, things get complicated.
So today's going to be about recognizing that we've probably overcomplicated our destiny and
our true calling. And I'm going to give you a couple of really cool tools to help you find
your way back home. So it's called you were born to run, but there should be a question mark at
the end of that because the question is, where were you born to run? Where are you running to?
And is it you that's running or have you been persuaded along the way to run towards something that you're not destined to run to?
Great morning, Chris.
Good to see everybody.
Ask questions along the way.
This is live, even though you might be listening to this in its edited form.
We have the channels open.
So check in.
Let us know where you're coming from.
And if anybody has a question or a statement that you want to talk me to talk about, I have this unique ability to take anything that you say and integrate it into our talk live.
and in person. So interact, make this something that gives you the ability to get what it is that
you need today, not just what I give you. So let's go. You got the idea. You were born to run. And the
question is, is where do things get complicated? Let's step out of the participation of our lives
and just observe things right now. So I think where things get complicated in life,
you know, the idea is you come out and everything is laid out. The universe is just perfect.
designed to guide and support us where we want to go. And we figure it out along the way. But where it
gets complicated is when certain people take on the role, this is really interesting to observe in
your life. Certain people take on the role of being our guides. This is a fascinating thing to
observe because sometimes you can buy into this idea that people come into your lives for a reason
and their reason is to guide you. This conversation right now is about learning how to dispute
everything. Because if you buy into something that is happening for you, rather than just teaching you
a lesson of what you should or shouldn't acknowledge as important, we always talk about building a
sorting filter, whatever it is that we buy into ends up getting an exclamation point at the end as
the right way. So I think it gets complicated with certain people for whatever reason, because we all
like to help others, but certain people came into your life and took on the role of your guide,
your educator or your mentor. So this is why whenever I'm mentoring somebody, I always give them the
opportunity to take everything that I say with a grain of salt. What I'm here to do is just arm and equip
you to look at things, not go my way. And I have no idea what the right way is for you to go.
They take on the role of educators, mentors. And what they do is along the way, they begin making
attempts to explain things, lay out the foundation. Remember, it starts off with the universe, the
perfect, the perfection of the universe, right? And then all of a sudden, people start showing up in your
lives. And they're important people. I refer to those as MFTPSE. So if you write down MFTPSE, that stands for
mother, father, teacher, preacher, got to add religion into that. But then the SE is society.
Remember something. Today, you're going to be persuaded and influenced by society. It's happening right now.
You're watching me. So you have to protect what it is that you can
because what you consume ends up being what you assume. So society is a big one,
and especially with the advent of social media and now AI and virtual reality and all that,
just take note that you are consuming, for the most part, the same thing every day.
And that's persuading you, and you've been doing that for a long time. And then there's the E of the
MFTPSE, and that's evolution. Remember, just awaken to the fact that what humans have been
taught over all the years since humans existed has been presented.
paid forward to us. Proof of that is that we still exhibit characteristics of the cavemen.
We overeat. The reason why we overeat. This is just one example. And we have a stress response system,
right? That all happened when we were in caves trying to avoid getting killed. And the reason why we
overeat still is because back then we didn't have a lot of food and we would eat too much.
By the way, case in point, as we speak right now, I'm getting ready to go on a interesting journey.
host these amazing spiritual retreats, and one of them is coming up this week. I'm leaving on Thursday
to Touloum, Mexico with 25 people. I'm fasting, so I'm doing a five-day water fast up until then,
so I'm feeling fantastic right now. If anybody is ever interested in fasting, now I don't fast all
the time. I actually fuel my body, and I coach people, and I teach people to nourish, but ever so
often, for various reasons, I do water fast. If anybody's ever interested in doing a waterfront,
I created a whole protocol for it to do it the right way and be safe about it. It's not for everybody.
I'm in that process right now getting ready. So a lot of what I'm going to have to share with you
today is something I'm going to be sharing on that retreat with these very special people.
So let's look at this idea of what of people guiding us and explaining things to us. The premise is
that people start showing up in our lives and start guiding us and explaining things and laying the
foundation for what the universe would have done naturally. So let's look at the very nature of
explanations. What does it mean when somebody shows up in your life and explains something to you,
which to a certain degree I'm doing? What is going on when our mother father, teacher, preacher,
society, and evolution attempts to explain things to us? What's actually going on there?
So Alan Watts, one of my favorite minds in the world, he says that explanation is description
with the intention of enabling us to control what is being described. Think about that. If I'm your
parent or I'm your educator or I'm your preacher and I explain life to you. What am I really trying to
pass on to you? I'm trying to give you the ability to define things with exclamation points at the end
so that you can have some sort of a grasp of control of reality. Isn't that interesting? So explanation
is just this idea that has an intention of enabling you to control what is being explained and
describe. Placing a stake in the ground. When somebody is, especially in your formative years, right,
you're just taking everything as it comes and saying yes. And we're still doing this now. And that's why I want
you to be so aware of what you're consuming. But as soon as somebody explains something and you take it as
fact, you place a stake in the ground claiming that that description is what you call the known,
or as I said, the facts. Just look at your life right now. And you have to be a real conscious human
being to be able to look at your life and evaluate it in this way. What is it that you claim to be
known facts about you and the world? What are the things that are undisputable that you possess?
Just think about those things. And I'm not saying that you're wrong, but can you remember
before you knew that? Can you remember when you didn't know those facts before somebody with authority
came into your life and began to teach them to you? Followed by the validation.
of others claiming the same thing.
Think about it.
Whatever it is that you think is absolute.
In fact, it could be religion, it could be political views, it could be what's right or wrong.
Allow yourself to remember a time before you knew that and find out where you got it from.
And once again, I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but just be an observation of how it took
place and you bought into it.
And it's also another interesting observation if you're an open and curious and conscious
person, which is where growth takes place.
you'll notice that there's other people that don't agree.
So you'll either choose to take the path of saying they're wrong, I'm right,
or you could just be curious and say,
what would be the better way?
But you have to be able to go back and recognize that there was a time
that something that you believe is absolute was not.
And then all of a sudden somebody said it to you
and it was validated by others that you hang around with or that you resonate with
and you took it as fact.
And then it became the known.
And then you spend the rest of your life trying to go,
into the unknown for personal growth. We'll talk about that. So presto, exclamation point planted
firmly and you have what we call a known fact. Then at some point along your run, remember we're
talking about a run here. You were born to run. Somewhere along your run, you begin to notice,
and a lot of you that are listening to this right now are probably in this state. Somewhere along the
run, you begin to notice that some of those quote-unquote known facts, although you might be still
tethered in believing them, start to pose challenges.
and actually become the reasons, the hurdles, the obstacles that either prevent or pose challenges
towards you achieving your life, your goals, and your dreams, right? So you learn things like,
oh, that's impossible. You've learned that there's certain things that are impossible.
Or nobody does that. Or if you're one of the unfortunate ones, and I've just, my heart goes out
to people that were raised this way. And I really make an effort. I'm not perfect, but I do my best to
to raise my kids unlike this.
But if you're one of the unfortunate ones,
you may have been taught that not only people don't do this,
but you might have been taught you can't or shouldn't do that.
So you begin the process.
Look at personal growth, self-development,
self-improvement and all of that stuff.
You begin the process of personal growth and self-development
because you recognize that there's certain things
that you know for sure that are not necessarily helpful.
But it's a struggle because it's what you know.
It's very hard to take something that's known and indisputable and start to work on personal growth and
self-development.
So here's why that's difficult.
And this is a big, big offering for you today.
What I find interesting and challenging about personal growth, see, there's a lot of
discrepancies in personal growth.
One of them being that most people spend most of their time learning and not in action, but that's
another conversation.
But what I find interesting and challenging about personal growth and self-rength,
and self-development is how it seems to be, for the most part, inefficient at helping you get to where
you're trying to get. And the reason why is if who you are determines how well what you do works,
and that is fact, it's who you are that determines how well what you do works. And you keep on working on
you, but you are now in this space where you recognize that you've been programmed by others to be you
and you start working on personal growth and self-development to enhance and level up and upgrade you,
but it's not really who you are.
You follow me?
If who you are determines how well what you do works, but you're noticing now that this might not be
who I am because I might be a reflection of what I've been told.
And this is happening.
This is going to happen today.
Even though you're with me right now and conscious, today you're going to go back out there
into the world and run your regularly scheduled program and go.
back to unconsciously consuming what you are usually consuming right now, which means that you
will continue to go on assuming things. So if you're working on that version of yourself with
personal growth and self-development, we have a problem, Houston, which is why humans tend to do
their best to describe things and start making things up. You see, when you notice some of these
incongruencies, if you're really open and curious, you might be thinking right now, because remember,
I don't want you to tether and just trust what I'm saying to be true. I'm just trying to get you to think.
But if you're listening to this right now and you're saying, you know what, he might have something.
You don't have to tell any of your friends.
But you might say he might have something interesting there.
Hmm.
Maybe you just make that sound.
Just go, hmm.
This is the challenge that you have.
But you're hearing them downstream.
You're hearing these things that people for the most part are making up.
You're hearing them downstream from the original person that made that thing up.
So if you're saying like, hey, he's got something, but still, I mean,
Come on. Everybody thinks this way, and that's why it's undisputable. And that's fact, right? The things that you
call known, even though you recognize, but it's kind of getting in my way, but it's known. Just think,
who's the first person that made that up? And now you might pull a religious thing right now.
But either way, it's started with someone, and it just cascaded to this place where you call it fact.
But you're hearing these things downstream from the original person, the original originator,
from the original person that made up these things called facts,
and then you just assume they're true.
And it's not your fault.
I would assume things are true if everybody said that they were true as well.
But I'm starting to question things,
and I'm inviting you to do that as well.
So today, what I want to do is Arm and equip you with a new description
and a new form, a new strategy for control.
Let's take a quick break to hear from our sponsor.
The Make Sense podcast is sponsored by the Make Sense Academy,
co-created by both.

So I'm going to arm and equip you with two really simple things that are just going to be game
changers if you're interested in game changing. Now if you're not interested in game changing and you're
going to stand there and stomp your feet and say, I'm going to keep what I've been taught and
what I call the known and work on that, well, listen, that's part of your journey and that's fine.
We'll put it on your tombstone.
But if you're recognizing right now, maybe there's more, which is why I work with plant
medicine and meditate and I'm doing everything I can to get out of this molded version of
me and explore different versions of me.
So today I'm going to arm and equip you with a new description and a new form of control.
But these tools, I'm just giving you two tools, these tools are going to allow.
you to start calling the shots to be the shot caller you know what a shot caller is go to if you ever been
in jail or you watch a jail movie it's the guy that makes all the shots he calls all the shots every he makes the
rules you can become that person in your life but start calling the shots of what you think feel
and believe to be true about the world that you interface with these two tools are going to help you do
that are you ready okay so the first tool is very simple and you know exactly what this is and it's
called a question mark, but I want to arm you with a question mark. So this is a fantastic tool that
will help you shift from being closed and certain about the things that you've been taught and told
to shifting to open and curious to the potential. I love that word. I love words like maybe and might
and potential as the potential for change and unlimited greatness in your potential life. It's as simple
as allowing yourself to replace exclamation points in your life with question marks.
But you have to be open and curious to allow this.
Here's what it would look like.
Try it out.
So the next time that you find your programmed mind, and it might be coming from somebody
else saying something like this, nobody does that or I can't do that.
So you might hear somebody saying nobody does that or you might be validating that.
Or you might hear yourself say, I can't do that.
That's your program mind.
You've been taught that.
And you hear that as a statement because it has a factual exclamation point at the other side.
Identify that as a downstream symptom of explanations and descriptions that we've been talking about,
that you were taught and say those same words again with that question mark that I've armed you with.
And here's what it would sound like.
You say the same words.
You say, nobody does that?
Facial expression too.
Nobody does that?
You can even put your hands up like this.
Nobody does that?
I can't do that.
That's what happens when you start disputing things.
And just simply dispute them to question their validity.
Have you ever thought about just questioning the validity of things that you believe to be true?
Remember, you're not in control of your whole brain.
Your brain and your thoughts and your feelings and your stress response system have been programmed through your MFTPSE.
So that's why you validate questioning them, question their validity by just insert.
a question mark. This will place you in a space, and that's the idea. You don't have to buy into this,
but it'll place you in a space where you'll start to notice the fallacy of what it is that you've
been taught or the potential fallacy. You might just notice, like, who made that up? Oh, God,
somebody taught me that, and what if they don't know? So the fallacy of what you've been taught
and can therefore begin deciding what it is that you really want. You see, you'll get to a place
one day where you'll start to recognize that you actually control the shot.
you actually get to design and sculpt your reality.
And guess what?
Your version of it probably isn't all true fact either.
But at least it's the one that you want to create,
not one that somebody told you.
So there's the first one, question mark, gift.
Put it in your pocket.
The second one is the word discovery.
I want you to just write down a question mark
and then the word discovery,
because you're going to use the word discovery
to replace another word.
Once you start disputing things,
you're going to be able to pull out this word discovery.
So we mentioned before the idea of trying to fix the discrepancies and challenges that we face in life
with things like personal growth and self-development and how this is an ineffective tool or strategy
when we're trying to develop or grow the version of us that's been trained and persuaded to be like that.
Think about it.
Catch yourself right now trying to personally grow or develop someone that you are not.
Hmm.
Interesting, right?
You should be a little pissed off right now.
By replacing the word develop, rather than developing, there's something that comes before,
Discover.
So instead of self-development, we're going to start saying self-discovery.
I like to consider myself and what I do in the Make Sense Academy and my coaching techniques,
not just development, because maybe we don't want to develop that.
Maybe we need to discover who we really are.
So we're going to replace self-development with self-discovery.
Just like the question mark, what happens is you create a pattern disruptor
You want to talk about growth taking place out of the comfort zone?
Here's the most uncomfortable thing to do.
Disrupt your pattern and allow yourself, you have to allow yourself to ponder not who you are supposed to be, but rather who you are.
That's a massive shift right there to just question who am I supposed to be.
When I say who am I supposed to be, I'm running all of these things that I've been taught.
But when I ask, who am I?
And I just look inside what it is that you're going to find is just breathtaking.
Forget about comparative reality and all that crap.
That's out the window as soon as it happens.
The person that's trying to make this run,
we're on this run in life and we're on our way somewhere,
but right now you guys are discovering that it might be who you were taught to be.
You might even be running the way that you were taught to be.
Not the person that you have trusted that you're supposed to be.
The person is trying, that the person is trying to make a run at life.
in comparison to all the other zombies. Do you realize that? If you're in a comparative reality right now,
that's so silly because you're comparing yourself for the most part to all the other zombies that are
not open to this discussion. They're just locked in to their zombiesness. That's why we like to say
in our private community, this is the uprising of the sleepwalking masses. As soon as you start to
reclaim control of your life, it's the moment you start to identify some of this stuff. Now, very, very
much the easier way and comfortable the way to just say, this guy's out of his mind. I'm just
going to go back to my regularly scheduled program. This is what I know. I'm not open to anything else.
That sounds exciting. Discovery is about you unveiling you and your unique ways of looking at life
as well as your imagination and creative genius, all of those things. Your unique ways of looking at
life and your creative genius, the ones that you might be holding inside, that's what makes
you one of a kind. If you don't feel like one of a kind, it's because you've suppressed all those
things and you're following and developing and growing this version of you that you are not. So these
tools arm you with a new understanding of how to react and respond when you hear others say things
like nobody does that or no one does that. And you know what? They're right. Everybody that says
something with an exclamation point is right. And what the heck good is that? But they are right when
they tell you that. But you, you, interesting you, recognize that in comparison to the rest of the
world, because you're one of a kind, you are nobody. So if somebody says nobody can do that,
well, guess what? That's you. That's you. I am nobody and I am no one. I am just me. You are like
you and nobody else. That's what's so amazing about you. And I just encourage you to just be you.
It's tough, though, because you're pretty tethered.
You're pretty sucked into the vortex, right?
You place question marks instead of exclamation points at the end of sentences.
You place question marks instead of exclamation points at the end of sentences?
That's crazy.
Yeah.
It's crazy because you're different than everybody else.
You question things and think about them before you react and respond.
That's what's unique about you now that you're thinking.
You are on a quest of the development of your self-discovery.
This is our new run.
You are on a quest of the development of your self-discovery,
not somebody else's discovery of you.
Okay, be careful who you're running with.
In our environment and in our community,
we teach a lot of these things and arm our students
in the Make Sense Academy with these things,
but we arm them to make their own decisions.
We don't have any sort of,
of a way of molding who you're supposed to be. Nobody does, except you. Nobody's ever been like you
before. Nobody. And there never will be another one like you. You're amazing. You are no longer on a
run like the rest. You already are who you are and now just running back to you. I love that Dave
Matthews song. I think it says running back to you or one of those lyrics. Just think about that.
Maybe all of this work that you've been doing on yourself is to just finally chip away all of this crap that you've been taught along the way by others to unveil who you are.
Just like Michelangelo, chipping away the stone to unveil David.
He says, I chipped away everything that was not David.
Maybe that's what personal growth and self-development should be after self-discovery.
Ooh, I like that.
That's where the real fun can begin and you can start this today.
So warning, I have to give you a warning. Disclaimer, warning. If you allow this process,
and that's all you have to do is allow yourself to just say, hmm, and dispute things and
question marks and all of that stuff and use a word discovery rather than development only.
God, development is just a word that we're just tethered to, right? Figure out who you are first.
But if you allow this process, you're going to make a massive breakthrough in your life,
and you're going to have the natural desire when things are crushing it.
And you're just like saying, wow, ever since I heard that podcast from the Make Sense podcast
or that video or whatever, you're in the Make Sense Academy, I heard this talk and everything in
my life changed.
You have this natural inborn desire to share that and pay it forward and teach others.
So be careful with that, okay?
Because you might screw them up.
Just make sure that you only teach them how to become themselves.
arm and equip people with things that allow them to become themselves.
I know it's possible in our group, and we have a big mission, world-changing mission,
but I don't know.
My perception, I should say this with a question mark, my perception is that the world is
unchangeable, right?
So I'm going to dispute that.
But that is my current perception at this time, that people are just handing the keys of
trust to whatever it is that they've been taught.
You're going to have to break free of social media and news and all of that stuff.
You're going to have to break free from that to make up your own choices.
Because until then, you're being programmed.
That's the Matrix being programmed all the time.
Anyway, love and appreciate you.
Hope you're enjoying the Make Sense Mondays.
I will be away next week on retreat.
So there's a good chance that this might not happen.
But there's also a good chance that it might.
So I'll say, there's a good chance this might not happen.
Anyway, there you go.
You got the word discovery.
You got your question marks.
