Welcome to the Make Sense with Dr. J.C. podcast. This podcast covers topics that expand human consciousness
and performance. On the Make Sense podcast, we acknowledge that it's who you are that determines how well what you do works,
and that perception is a subjective and acquired taste. When you change the way that you look at things,
the things that you look at begin to change. The Make Sense podcast is sponsored and primarily funded by the Make Sense
Academy, our private community where open and curious seekers of growth and expansion apply the
make sense principles and systems to move from simply going through life to growing through life.
So check out the Make Sense Academy risk-free for less than you'll spend today on shit that you don't
need. Welcome, my friends, to the uprising of the sleepwalking masses. Welcome to the Make Sense with
Dr. J.C. Dornick podcast.
Great morning, friends.
Today's episode is called The Eye of the Storm.
Very excited about this one.
I know I never get excited about these things, but today I'm very excited.
Welcome to the Rise Up with Dragon Podcast with your host, Dragon.
You know, I always say that meditation is like the super highway to helping people bypass their analytical mind.
And our analytical mind is usually what gets us in trouble.
and ironically we'll talk a little bit about that today, but meditation, karma mind,
oh, God, you got to go listen to my amazing wife and her meditations, her guided meditations.
So before I get into my rise up today, I'm always fascinated with how we feel and we respond to things
and how we process it because that's what we control is how we respond to things,
but we still can't avoid the way we feel.
And this morning, I made an observation rather than just react to it.
I made an observation this morning that this was one of those mornings.
And I don't know if you can resonate with this.
I woke up this morning and processed everything that I need to do today, tonight, and over the next week.
At the same time, I just to look at it all.
And what was interesting about it is naturally that triggered a response of like overwhelm and anxiety
and things like that.
But because I had the ability to kind of use this interface response system and sit in that space, which I'm going to call soon the eye of the storm, I was able to recognize that I was doing something impossible.
I was trying to control the uncontrollable. I was trying to process in my brain everything at once.
And in that moment, I recognized that I forgot to just wake up and be and just be in that moment and everything got better.
So this is the eye of the storm.
Coming to you on April 18th, getting ready to leave with my family for Dallas for a big event.
I'm excited.
I'm going to have the opportunity to do some DJing in front of a large crowd, my new little hobby.
Very excited about that.
And being with my family, being with friends, being in a live environment.
Here's my thought for the day.
Something that I just wrote down.
Usually when I journal, I'll just write a thought down and then I'll get into the topic.
So the thought today was this.
I'm just noticing, and I'm not here to tell you what my preferences are politically or religious or anything like that,
but I just saw for a second, wouldn't it be cool if all humans, because I noticed that we all have commonalities in all of our beliefs, various beliefs.
You know, we just came off of a holiday where two different belief systems believed in something else.
And I always thought that was fascinating as a kid on what the holiday was for.
So wouldn't it be cool if all humans all could come together and understand the common source of all religions
and therefore come into alignment with the overall spiral of life? Because life is going on for everybody at the
same time. But wouldn't it be cool if we could all come together, like we could all congregate and say,
well, we all believe in this and call it whatever you want and then come into alignment. And I realized in
that moment, one of the things that I long for as a human being and somebody that is a servant
and nurturer, I long for the day that we use a larger lens. That's what I think it has to do with.
You know, when you learn how to drive, they teach you how to get the big picture. I long for the
day that we can all learn to use a larger lens to look through at the meaning of life and the definition
or the sense making of life. So here's the eye of the storm. There's a great Brandy Carlisle song
called the Eye of the Storm that I love.
Actually, I think it's called the eye.
And one of the lines she says, it says,
they say you can dance in a hurricane,
but only when you're standing in the eye.
That's a pretty cool concept.
Like even in a crazy hurricane,
you can still find time to be at peace and dance,
but only when you're standing in the eye.
So it made me start realizing,
and this is stuff that's going to be in my book as well,
there is magic in the space between all of the chaos,
the hurricane that exists in life. It really always depends on what you're looking at. You can look at life as a
hurricane and a bunch of chaos, but the space between where there's magic, if someone is in the eye
of the storm, now your analytical program mind is going to process that anyway it was, but if somebody's
in the eye of the storm, it means that they're in the center of a disagreement. It's interesting. If you say
that somebody's in the eye of the storm, it means that they're in the center of a disagreement. And I find
that fascinating. The idea of being in the middle of something, that can be a good thing or a bad
thing, no? So I'd say the thought of being in the middle of something equates to being caught up
in the bullshit between two sides. Now, when I started writing about this, this is kind of like the
vibe that I was feeling. So that's not what this rise up is about. Although if you're caught up
in the middle of two parties in a disagreement, I'd suggest that you reconsider.
what you're spending your time with and with whom.
That's something to reconsider.
So I'm referring to the phenomenon that we see during the terrible hurricane,
just like Randy Carlisle's song, or storm when we're directly in its center.
Have you ever been in the eye of a storm?
You know, I remember experiencing this for the first time as a kid.
It's like, it's just magic.
All of a sudden, the storm just like magic ends.
Not only does a storm subside when you're in the center
of it. You know, if you look at a hurricane on a, like a news reporter's map, you'll see that there's
a hole in the middle of it. So not only does the storm subside in the eye, but it's actually
beautiful weather for a short time while it or until it moves past us. You know, it's like,
it's not only subsiding, but it's like beautiful. So I'm just so fascinated with being in the
space between, being in the eye of any sort of chaos. So can you identify the eye of
your storm right now. Now, I don't know if you even identify that you're in a storm, but most people
probably do, but can you identify the eye of it, the center of it, the space between knowing and
unknowing. Think about that for a second. Those are two opposites. There's a space between knowing
something and unknowing. There's a space in between those, between your programmed, egoic mind
that knows it all, that's what I know it all is, and your confused self-limiting mind that seems lost.
Now, the hurricane and the chaos has to do with the battle of those polar opposites.
I'm talking about the space between. In this space, we learned that there is nothing to be gained
or lost. And that's what I missed this morning, by the way. Think about it. I woke up and I processed
the hurricane, and I missed the opportunity to recognize that just sitting in the present moment,
there's nothing to be gained or lost. You're just there and you're just being. It's utterly both
empty and full at the same time. Once you learn how to let go and let this in, you begin to see that
you can control the fantasy and the narrative of life. Now, that's a whole other discussion,
But what that means is that in that space, you get to decide what the narrative is, what the fantasy is.
I did a podcast called Dear Mr. Fantasy one time on that.
So you also learn that you've been allowing, listen to this, you've been allowing your programmed mind,
your programmed egoic analytical mind to partner with the world and dictate how your future will unfold.
Are you allowing your mind to partner with the outside in forces of the world, the perceptions of the world, to dictate how your future will unfold?
Think about that.
So in the eye of the storm, you reclaim control of your outcome.
See, the idea is learning how to get into this space between.
And I teach a lot of that with the interface response system.
That's where you can reclaim control of your outcome.
for your future. There's a gospel. I'm not a religious man, but I find that personal growth and
gospel and religions, there's a lot of good stuff in there. So there's a gospel of Thomas. And that's
where Christ said that the kingdom, the kingdom is not here or there. Rather, the kingdom of the
father is spread out upon the world and men do not see it. Think about that. How cool is that?
Like the goods are spread about the world and we don't even see it because we're so focused on other
things. We spend so much time focused on where we were and where we're going that we often
miss where we are. The space between those two polar opposites where we're going and where we
were, those two polar opposites that make up your hurricane. Those two polar opposites, the force
between those two make up the hurricane, but in the middle of it there's a space. There's an immense
magic that sits in the space between the things we are running from and reacting to that
ether to the things that we're not. So the eye of the storm is what I'm talking about,
that eye of the storm. I'm just offering this to you today, because my goal today is to sit
in the eye of the storm and grab a more rational and logical idea and perception and response to
things. So in my interface response system, we teach you to access more rational and logical,
decisions by letting go of the past and distancing yourself from the future and your responses.
And that's what Victor Frankel calls the, he describes it as a space between the stimulus and the
response. That's the space between. So if you can learn how to get into the space between,
you're going to be at peace. You're no longer going to have your narrative controlled outside in.
So there's a sweet spot in your storm. And that's what they call the eye of the storm.
In between the thing and no thing. Learn how to dance in this.
this eye of the storm and learn how to claim control of your life and destiny. Does that make sense to you?
Well, I sure hope it does. And once again, have an amazing day. Love and appreciate you all.
