Welcome to the Make Sense with Dr. J.C. podcast. This podcast covers topics that expand human consciousness
and performance. On the Make Sense podcast, we acknowledge that it's who you are that determines how well what you do works,
and that perception is a subjective and acquired taste. When you change the way that you look at things,
the things that you look at begin to change. The Make Sense podcast is sponsored and primarily funded by the Make Sense
Academy, our private community where open and curious seekers of growth and expansion apply the
make sense principles and systems to move from simply going through life to growing through life.
So check out the Make Sense Academy risk-free for less than you'll spend today on shit that you don't
need. Welcome, my friends, to the uprising of the sleepwalking masses. Welcome to the Make Sense with
Dr. J.C. Dornick podcast.
Makes sense.
Welcome to the Rise Up with Dragon podcast with your host, Dragon!
Great morning world.
All right, folks, ready, set, grow.
This is the sandwich generation.
A few dragon thoughts before we get started, a little warm up.
So I was watching just this amazing video of the amazing Brunei Brown,
and she speaks a lot about vulnerability.
So here are my thoughts.
Vulnerability is the birthplace.
of innovation, creativity, and change. My thoughts on this. Vulnerability, in my opinion, is the ultimate
version of stepping outside our comfort zone, which is where growth takes place, right? So we step
outside of our comfort zone in search of growth, and vulnerability is the ultimate version of that.
It's the primary ingredient, as a matter of fact, in baking a success and happiness pie. These rise-ups
that I do every day are my best friend, and my best friend never lets me down.
And today I found it important to speak to my wife and say to my beautiful chicken, I am wide open to the idea of falling in love as we fall apart.
A lot of things have been challenging us lately. And it has just been such a blessing because it's just allowing us to fall deeply, deeply more in love with each other.
Chicken shared this with me today and this triggered a lot of this rise up.
She said, tradition is just pure pressure that has been bestowed upon us from our dead ancestors. I said, wow.
So I started down that rabbit hole and then I found something called filial piety, F-I-A-L-I-A-L-P-I-E-T-Y.
And this is a Confucian concept derived from the Chinese culture that advocates the idea of moral values attached to the practice of caring for their parents.
So that's a powerful thing because there's a lot of sacrifice in that.
A lot of people give up a very big portion of their life to care for their parents.
So this allowed me to happen upon something called the sandwich generation.
And it's my honor to allow you to awaken to this because you might be part of it.
So it's defined by a generation that both finds itself and feels responsible to care for both their kids and their parents.
More specifically to define it, it would refer to adults who are part of this sandwich generation, meaning those that have a living parent that's age 65 or older and are either.
they're raising a child under the age of 18 or supporting a grown child. That's the sandwich generation.
And naturally, they're pulled in many, many directions. My question, who is taking care of you?
Is the goal to train your kids as you've been trained by example to take on the role or burden of the sandwich generation and take care of you and their kids one day?
Is that the goal? Are you even aware that that's being paid forward as it was to you?
or is there a need and a value in your own self-care?
Yes, I know it's not easy, and perhaps to you, it could be perceived as impossible.
But reminder, isn't everything that we truly want and desire on the other side of impossible?
What's the value of self-care and paying that forward to your next generation?
Well, apparently, if you're part of the sandwich generation and you're a hero and you're a nurturer
and you spend more time taking care of others than yourself,
well, then you're probably going to want to take better care of yourself
because it's going to help you do a better job at taking care of others, right?
So if you're not doing any self-care and you're obsessively taking care of others,
well, you could be doing a much better job at that obsession.
Almost identify with it as who you are.
Isn't that true?
That idea of taking care of others, part of that sandwich generation concept.
whether a healthy or unhealthy behavior, if that's on your list as important to take care of others,
then as I said before, self-care will mean doing a better job at it.
Did you know that self-care and improving your health actually triggers and is the launch pad
for the side effect of increased mental clarity and raised consciousness?
Perhaps that may help you identify these unhealthy and unnecessary overdone aspects of your potential
unconscious activities. You know what that means? You might be unconscious to all of this stuff,
and I hope that this podcast will help you awaken to it. But if you want to trigger a radical change
in your life right now in the form of an awakening, take care of your physical health because on a
healthy body, rests a healthy mind. And once you establish a healthy mind or increase clarity,
you will see things that you didn't see before. When I lost 80 pounds and I got healthy 17 years ago,
which triggered me to become a coach, and that's what I do for money, I help people physically and
mentally transform. I didn't know the value of it would come in the form of mental clarity.
So things that may not be a value to those that you care for, perhaps a bit of a hero role is
taking place right now. There's an awakening right now. Are you trying to save people that are not
asking you for help? Nobody asks us for help all the time, but we kind of like hear and think that they do.
So that concept is made up by ourselves.
There's also a touch of guilt, a side order of guilt, like fries with your burger.
Nobody's asked you for help, but they get it anyway.
You feel compelled to care for everyone.
Can you see how this may have been paid forward to you by someone else, part of your programming?
Another part of your programming by your programmers.
Oh, yes.
An awakening indeed, right?
Remember, the first step of the interface response system is to become aware of what's going on.
which unveils the opportunity to decide to change it or not. Remember, on a healthy body,
rest of healthy mind. Start your reprogramming today by focusing on your own health. Today, I want you
to know that I honor you for your noble sacrifice. It's a big sacrifice to give up the prime years of
your life to take care of others. But I also want you to know that I give you permission today
to be selfish. Selfish is not a bad word because human beings are all value-seeking
missiles, meaning we don't think, say, or do anything that does not have value. So I give you permission
to be selfish and practice serving yourself too. And I forgive you for you knew not what you did or what
you do. Do it for you, but even more so, do it for the next generation, your kids perhaps,
so that they don't spend the greatest days of their lives feeling the burden to take care of you
and others. Make sense?
So
