Starting point is 00:00:00 Power Project family, how's it going? And listen up. We talk about meat and nutrition all the time on this podcast from the carnivore diet, keto, low carb, IFYM. And the cool thing is that we've partnered with a great company, Piedmontese Beef. Yes, it's beef. And the great thing about Piedmontese Beef is this, no matter if you're someone who's dieting on low fats, high fats, carnivore, any diet, they have different types of cuts of steak that are going to fit your diet perfectly. From the Flatiron that has Andrew, what is the macros on that thing? So that one has 46 grams of protein and only four grams of fat for the entire steak. And if you want fattier cuts, they have ribeyes, center cuts, they have literally everything for no matter what diet you do. So you can't use the excuse of your diet and tell yourself that you
Starting point is 00:00:44 can't eat red meat. So Andrew, how can they get Piedmontese beef? Yes, man. So you can't use the excuse of your diet and tell yourself that you can't eat red meat. Inhale, relax the pelvic floor. Right. So it means like
Starting point is 00:01:25 you gooch everything, just relax it. So I was, I was pooping this morning and I was on the squatty potty and some people, they push, right? I, I sometimes push, you know, you push when you poop, right? But instead of pushing, I was just like, let me just inhale and relax my pelvic floor. So I inhaled, relaxed my pelvic floor and then just went right out just i didn't i didn't push anything all i did was inhaled relax my pelvic floor and slippy schlop it all comes out tapered shit felt great i did that again this morning in this bathroom i'm like this is the only way i'm pooping from like a speed hack yeah dude just like so this pelvic floor thing this is like uh kind of relaxing your butthole
Starting point is 00:02:11 like your butthole and the whole thing the whole thing the whole thing yeah i don't know what where my pelvic floor is yeah it's like your butthole area but then you're downstairs just all of that just like relax it and when you when you inhale it's easier just feel it all just like go loose yeah it's the thing that like when you squeeze it it makes the head of your dick really mad yeah okay yeah we both try to yeah yeah sometimes you got like a crazy boner and like you can't fuck with that you can't like
Starting point is 00:02:46 you can't cinch down on it because you're like the whole fucking thing's gonna explode everywhere especially when you're young you get those all the time
Starting point is 00:02:54 it's like holy fuck man this is amazing this thing's a goddamn weapon everybody better back up oh yeah it makes your head or your dick really mad
Starting point is 00:03:02 I like that that's good it does can you please move your microphone close to your face i'm sorry mixing up some coffee over there electrolytes proteins and then thank you smoky steven granzella for this this starbucks coffee from yesterday appreciate you homie i'm gonna he tries to introduce introduce himself as steven all the time the people nowadays it's bullshit i'll never right we'll never let them forget all right this is a little smoky right here that's
Starting point is 00:03:31 right fuck yeah you gotta keep those nicknames in there because he looked like a uh one of those little smokies yeah yeah bring up a package of little smokies so we can show off what a little smoky is. Quick question, though. What is his Instagram name now? Is it? It's still a little smoky. Let's go. A little smoky.
Starting point is 00:03:57 There it is. Yeah. Those are so good. I know. They're fucking phenomenal. Oh, God. What a great nickname to have. Now I'm hungry.
Starting point is 00:04:07 I hate it when we do this, when we talk about food at the beginning of the podcast, because it's like, motherfucker, I'm fasting. And then I feel so hungry. But a crock pot full of little smokies just like simmering and just all nice and warm with whatever the fuck. I don't even know what the liquid part of it would be. But man, that's good stuff. Speaking of crock pot, people got to go check out Smelly's Kitchen. whatever the fuck. I don't even know what the liquid part of it would be. Man, that's good stuff.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Speaking of crockpot, people got to go check out Smelly's Kitchen. We've got a bunch of episodes now. The response has been really good. The views keep calculating up. And so, appreciate the people that are checking it out. But if you're not checking it out,
Starting point is 00:04:41 go check it out. It's Mark Smelly Bell's YouTube channel. Did you guys see Greg Doucette talkingett talking about the rock no again again what the fuck was it now he's always swinging off his dick now he uh well aren't we all right yeah the rock's an amazing human he is um he's talking about uh how the rock responded to some questions one question was about how much you bench and the rock was like i don't know i don't count four or five hundred pounds and so do set called that out and said hey that's kind of a bullshit answer like what does that mean like how do you not count how do you don't see the plates that are on there or like i could agree with that he's like
Starting point is 00:05:18 yeah he probably should have said hey i don't't really do an actual bench press anymore, whatever the case is. And then the other thing was somebody asked The Rock, why is your belly flabby and not shredded or something? They didn't know how to word it because it wasn't a criticism from another fitness person. And The Rock, he kind of laughed about it, but he's like, that's a fucked up question. And I don't remember exactly what his response to it was but greg doucette was just saying like it's just a byproduct of like getting lean you know getting really really lean and for some people due to certain genetics like some people have to get leaner than others because some people carry more body fat in certain areas and the rock also alluded to the fact that he had some injury in his abdomen slash.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Like a hernia, right? Yeah, slash like leg while, you know, being a professional wrestler. That definitely is like that kind of stuff. It can misshape your body forever. You have certain injuries like your body doesn't fire the same way anymore. And that guy was a pro wrestler for a long time doing crazy athletic stuff and a football player for a long time so i'm not trying to make excuses for him but additionally i just think he looks fucking awesome so you know um not everyone's gonna have the same
Starting point is 00:06:38 muscle bellies in certain areas my for me like my arms are kind of more like slabs rather than like a bicep pronounced bicep pronounced tricep, mainly because of my powerlifting career. And I did tear a bunch of stuff. So even when I did my bodybuilding show and I did bodybuilding for a while, I just, they just wouldn't shape up quite the way maybe somebody else's would. It is crazy though for like, because when people generally get older, especially people that lift a lot lot they don't end up maintaining i guess the fitness level like a lot of people are going to attribute to drugs for the rock but like even even if he is doing something um his just fitness level at his age and his ability to move at his age and the athleticism that he's maintained it's it's pretty crazy because most for most people that de. I think it's gotten better with him in some ways.
Starting point is 00:07:26 I mean the shit he used to do in the ring, like he – I don't know. People undersell like what professional wrestlers do. But remember, the guy used to kip up and he would do that shit every night. Imagine doing that every night. Oh, yeah. Traveling 300 different dates around the fucking globe and all the different autograph signings and all the different things he had to go to.
Starting point is 00:07:48 Wouldn't you just think like your body would just be so stiff from like sitting in the bus and on the plane and in the rental car and all these different things, but he fucking did it and he did it for a long time, but he still looks great and he still looks like he, to me, doesn't look like he's moving around all stiff or anything. Yeah, and from the training that I see him doing, it seems to be a lot of like bodybuilder type of stuff. I don't see him work with barbells often even though he probably does.
Starting point is 00:08:14 But there is a lot of just direct muscle work for different muscles. Like probably I see him use a lot of dumbbells. I see him use a lot of cables. And that will allow you to get a good range of motion with a lot of different stuff so the bodybuilding shit works i remember uh when uh mike ryan uh mike ryan used to train the rock and when he trained him he helped him get into the shape that he is in the second photo there oh really i don't know if that was the same time frame but something along those lines i remember the rock Rock, you know, kind of saying like, hey man, like I'm Samoan.
Starting point is 00:08:49 Like, bro, like it's not going to happen for me. I'm not going to be able to get in that shape. And Mike Ryan was like, yeah, you are Samoan, but you also eat fucking cookies and donuts. And you're also black. And you eat a lot of them. Yeah, right, right, right. Exactly. Yeah. It's like you have another genetic side that could have you big and ripped.
Starting point is 00:09:09 You haven't tapped into that shit yet. Yep. Oh, man. But yeah, you can see even there where he's really lean. He has serratus muscles. Shoulders have almost some striations going on. There's some good abdomen there, but then there's like a disappearing kind of abdomen on the other side where it's just, maybe that's from an injury. Yeah, no, for a lot of people that does
Starting point is 00:09:29 happen from like, uh, like a hernia, like the abdomen does split for some people in those areas like, like that. Um, some people say that they've had it forever, but a lot of people that end up having that, they've mentioned, Oh, I had an injury there. So it happens, but it is what it is. You were saying that, um, I think you said on the show before that, uh, your girlfriend has, uh, some, uh, body like dysmorphia kind of stuff. Well, okay. I don't want to put her on blast, but like, uh, for a lot of people, they have like, even myself for a long time when I've been breathing in the past, uh, especially if you're in fitness, when you're breathing, most people want to keep the abs super tight. We were just talking about this a little
Starting point is 00:10:08 bit. And for a lot of people, when they grow up, they do their best to keep their stomach flat. So what that does is it causes them to breathe super high so that they can keep their stomach flat the whole time. But what that also does is that turns off a lot of the muscles of breathing to help you breathe into your diaphragm So now you're breathing super shallow You're breathing i'm gonna try to breathe into my chest keep your tummy in right try to keep your tummy in So what happens is you're breathing Your shoulders and your chest come up and you're breathing like this. Even if you're nasal breathing
Starting point is 00:10:38 You're still breathing up here and that causes like you're not able to get a deep breath You're your breathing is going to be all kind of fucked up. It's going to be hard for you to get a deep breath and actually have good endurance with a lot of exercises, but it's, it's going to have long term implications because a lot of this is off. That's why when people talk about diaphragmatic breathing and they talk about breathing into your diaphragm and your belly, it's hard for a lot of people because they're too used to trying to keep their stomach flat because fitness and health, right? You want to look shredded all the time. You don't want to look like you have a belly. All I was going to say is, I don't know what she's worried about.
Starting point is 00:11:14 I saw her this morning. She looked fucking amazing. Oh yeah. She's fucking jacked. She looks incredible. Honestly, she looks great. I mean, I know she's working hard. She's getting ready for a show, right? She's getting ready for a show, yeah. The show's in November. She's getting leaner. I walked in. I was like, damn. And I was like, oh, okay. Cool.
Starting point is 00:11:33 She looks amazing. It's forbidden. Y'all can say whatever. She fucking looks good. But one thing, man, is like we were talking about it with this guy that came yesterday, Ryan Fisher, and his jacked girlfriend, Zoe. Because everyone looks at that girl. She's super jacked. And everyone's like, oh, are you going to do a bodybuilding show or have you?
Starting point is 00:11:58 And he was mentioning like, ah. And she was even saying she's worried about doing it because you don't know. Like you see a lot of competitors that get stuck with that body or they start becoming – they start getting a little bit of body image issues because of it. And that's one of the reasons why like I mean other than the fact that I have other things I enjoy outside of bodybuilding, like I don't want to do bodybuilding again because it gets you just too focused on staying super shredded. I think you should definitely do it like when you're like 40 or something you know just have it again just to have a goal yeah yeah yeah maybe a little older when you uh you know uh when you feel good enough about what you've done with your jujitsu you know and you just go off and do something different for a while yeah but yeah you know a lot of people have a hard time with the sustainability. And I was talking to I was talking to our boy Tom File this morning and he's like, you know, I'm just doing this bodybuilding show for me. And, you know, it's kind of for nothing. And there's like no money.
Starting point is 00:12:57 You know, and he was talking about his day yesterday. He's like, I spent basically about five or six hours just all directed towards bodybuilding. And he's like, and each day is kind of getting more and more like that as the show gets closer and closer. What was he doing for five or six hours? Well, he just said, you know, the workouts, you know, sunbathing, posing. Okay. And just trying to recover from the workouts and stuff like that too. You know, hot tub and all that all that kind of stuff so he just said like all in like it's a lot of time and then also the meal prep he's shredded shredded
Starting point is 00:13:31 right yeah he looks he's looking he's looking great he's uh he's in his 50s and you know he's got some he's got some awesome goals but we were talking about like the aftermath of the show and it was like yeah and maybe like six or eight later, you might go back to like looking the exact same that you did previously, you know. So we talked about that a little bit. Unless it's like a tune-up show for an already veteran person, almost all the time people are going in really, really hard and they have a huge deficit. And then there's got to be, you had that huge deficit, there's got to be something's got to be on the other side waiting for you.
Starting point is 00:14:16 And it probably could potentially be a lot of weight gain and body fat. Oh, this is Tom right here. Was this today? No, no, no. Oh, okay. What do you call it? Like his power belly? Oh, this is Tom right here. Was this today? No, no, no. Oh, okay. What do you call it? Like his power belly?
Starting point is 00:14:29 Yeah. He still stands like a power lifter? Mm-hmm. Man. That's crazy to me. Those abs are popping just like nothing. Yep. Savage. Yeah, like with bodybuilding especially or any of these physique shows, you know, you get super lean.
Starting point is 00:14:43 You get into really low levels of body fat, but you got to leave it. Once the stage is done, you need to get the fuck out of there. That's like, it's not good for your hormones. It's not good for you to maintain that maybe for a little bit, but get out and get to a normal level of body fat. And that's a, that's a thing that a lot of competitors have a level of body fat for yourself. Yeah. That's an important thing. Absolutely. And, um, that's the thing that a lot of competitors have a level of body fat for yourself yeah that's an important thing absolutely and um that's something that was has been interesting for me like i was so big uh for a while there that you i sometimes lose sight of the fact of like you're way leaner than you were you know and i don't even know if i've – probably at this point, it's probably been about equal time, I guess, being this lean as an adult. Like when I was younger, I got myself pretty lean for a while.
Starting point is 00:15:33 But after anabolic steroids and after the powerlifting career, for powerlifting, I was pretty big for about five years. And then it's been at least five years now that I've been here. And the point in bringing that up is, again, what's going to be sustainable? Like if I'm a much less body fat percentage than I was six months ago, then there's going to be a better understanding of there'll probably be some fluctuation going on because that means that I like dieted down towards something, right? As opposed to like, this has been a really long process for me. And, uh, I continue to work on it all the time. You were mentioning like, Hey, I think you're getting a little leaner. Look, you look good. And it's something that, uh, I'm really passionate about, but at the same time I have to, in my head, I have to plan out when am I going to go for it? Like when am I going to drop down a little bit more?
Starting point is 00:16:30 Because I want to still continue to get leaner. I don't know how lean, but I still think I can do better. So I'm like, let's keep pushing it. And maybe I can push you and maybe you can push me and maybe we can push other people. And when you say leaner, you mean because you've been leaner, but you mean get leaner, but also that feels like you can just chill there. Is that what you mean? Yes, exactly. Exactly. Yeah. I'm not trying to like be this by this date. I'm trying to be this forever or at least for a long time. Um, and you know, maybe some stuff will come and go. I think, uh, a, I think a fluctuation is totally fine.
Starting point is 00:17:05 Five, ten pounds for me, it sounds plenty reasonable. And I am a person that does take diet breaks. And even as locked in with my diet as I am nowadays, I'll still probably take that diet break. It feels good. It feels incredible. Oh, yeah. To take a week where you're just like, I ain't worried about nothing for one week. It's really nice. So I'll't worried about nothing for one week. You know,
Starting point is 00:17:30 it's, it's really nice. So I'll be doing that shit again this year. But even on those days, I actually will still incorporate some like intermittent fasting. So I'm like, I want this week to be beneficial from a mindset standpoint, but I don't want it to be so detrimental from a body weight gained standpoint that I spend the next three weeks trying to spin myself out of this. That doesn't make any sense, you know? Consuma, how long typically is like a bodybuilding cut or like a prep? Oh, okay. I'm just curious. What, like 12 weeks?
Starting point is 00:17:58 Well. I know, I know, I know. Yeah, I know, I know you know. You're going to be so fucking weird over there, by the way. He's playing with these finger things. He's like strengthening his fingers. He's wearing these really weird like sandals. Jesus sandals.
Starting point is 00:18:11 And then I'm fucking rubbing my foot over here. People just see you behind the table. Andrew's on his knees doing the fucking podcast. Yeah. Like we're gone. We're gone. That's why nobody's listening. We're fucking out to lunch.
Starting point is 00:18:26 And Seema was so excited to tell me about breathing this morning. It was great. We were both pumped about it. I was like, yeah, man, I was on the bike this morning. I could breathe so much better through my nose. Oh, man. What the fuck is wrong with us? What has happened to us?
Starting point is 00:18:42 Next year, somehow we're going to have grown hair and we'll all have man buns. Oh, it's going to be great. It's going to be awesome. Man buns and sleeve tattoos. But the bodybuilding prep thing, yeah, man. So first off, like it depends where people start. You know, if you're starting with much higher body fat, you're going to need longer amount of time to prep. You know, if you're starting with much higher body fat, you're going to need longer amount of time to prep.
Starting point is 00:19:10 But on the for the NPC side of things, that means like, you know, they're they're using PEDs. They can get leaner a lot faster. That's what you see. A lot of guys do like eight weeks, 12 week preps. Don't get me wrong, though. You'll see some people in like the natural side do 12 week preps, but they're also starting at a much leaner bodybuilding, a much leaner body fat percentage. So I've seen people do like 16 week preps, but they're already starting out like 10% or 9% body fat. And then they diet for 16 weeks. But for most people on the natural side who start a prep, usually they're starting around decently, like maybe 15% body fat. And a lot of people lose
Starting point is 00:19:44 body fat at different rates. But for some people, it ends up being like 24 weeks, 30 weeks. Um, my prep in 15, 2015 ended up being 40 weeks, but I started around two 62 and I ended up around two 20, two 28. Uh, and then I peaked and ended up at two 32. So my lowest weight was two 28, but it took me about 40 weeks to do that because I had like about 40 pounds to lose. And this kind of thinking isn't really – I just want to point out this kind of thinking isn't really dangerous necessarily for someone in bodybuilding because they already have a lot of other habits. It can be. It can still be very dangerous. The person can still – we see a lot of people do it. They still gain a lot of weight. Um, I think what sometimes happens is
Starting point is 00:20:29 some of the information from bodybuilding ends up just leaking out into like the regular outside world. And then people are like, wow, that guy did this in 12 weeks. I'm going to, I'm going to work on doing the same thing. And it's like, you lost 47 pounds in 12 weeks, but then it all, you know, climbed back on you like twice as as fast because you didn't really understand like that guy had a lifting routine that he's been doing for 14 years previously he just happens to love all this stuff so i think that's where things can be a little dangerous and if you are gonna uh be a person who takes on a challenge which i think is is great, is healthy. Again, I think you need to start to think about how am I going to exit out of that? What's that going to
Starting point is 00:21:08 look like? We've got someone right now on the discord. You were saying that's doing the snake diet, right? Yeah. Yeah. Bruce from Cole Robinson. And I also want to mention like, not only does the person have like the bodybuilders, right. Who are experienced and they say, I'm going to lose as much in 12 weeks. They also have a calculated all of it. Okay. So the, so they know on average, this is how much I'm eating. This is how much I'm going to lose per week. It is like, because they're so consistent with everything and everything's calculated,
Starting point is 00:21:33 they know what they're going to be at 12 weeks from now. Whereas, you know, most people don't have things calculated that well. They don't even know where their maintenance caloric intake is. It's tough. But Bruce, right. Bruce, Bruce in the, in the Discord, he's been fucking killing it.
Starting point is 00:21:48 You guys should join Discord because there's awesome people there, great support system. Everyone's fucking just on it. I love those people. But Bruce has been – I think he started for something and he started doing OMAD a bit. And then he started doing the snake diet. So I think he's having certain days where he fasts and then certain days where he feeds and he has refeed days. And he's been dropping consistently. But, you know, he started in the 400-pound range.
Starting point is 00:22:17 So, you know, a cool thing is, like, you know, we had Eugene Tao here, and Eugene was mentioning one of those things where he did this 1,000-calorie diet. I saw a lot of people in the comment section going kind of wild about it, but you know, if you have enough body fat on your frame, you can get away with really low calories because you have the body fat to keep you going. What a cool option too, instead of fasting, like imagine just saying there's, there's some people will employ eating every other day. You know, some people will do all kinds of different versions of fasting. Imagine if you were like twice a week, I'm just going to have a thousand calories. That sounds awesome.
Starting point is 00:22:53 That sounds very reasonable to me. Especially if like because, you know, we I know what that feels like because there's certain days where we'll still do OMAD. And a thousand calorie meal is a lot. Typically, when we I do OMAD and I'm pretty sure you too, we'll eat more than a thousand calories in that meal. I will always eat more than a thousand calories in that meal. But, um, a lot of people, what happens is when we talk about diets like OMAD or when Cole was here and he talked about the snake diet or with even what Bruce is doing, when he first started talking about doing OMAD, there were a few people who were like, you should be super careful. And this was all coming from a place of good.
Starting point is 00:23:29 No one was trying to bash him for this. They're just trying to give advice. So a lot of people were saying, you know, you got to be careful. That's not sustainable over a long period of time. It'd be much better to just slowly reduce your calories and have a more sustainable approach over time. reduce your calories and have a more sustainable approach over time. But if we know anything about like diets, we've done a lot of different diets. There's no diet that we've done perpetually. Like you've done carnivore, but there's times you have some fruits and carbs, like you're not perpetually doing one thing. You've been in a deficit, but you didn't stay perpetually in a
Starting point is 00:24:03 deficit, right? So sustainability is a weird thing because it's sustainable for number one, who's the person, and number two, for how long are they going to be doing it? That's a really important thing to think about. And since he has extra body fat on him, doing OMAD, he has a lot of energy to work off of. So he's doing great. He's losing quite a bit of weight. He's dropping. He's making great progress. His body's looking better.
Starting point is 00:24:29 It's sustainable for now. Yeah, sustainable for now is a good point. I was just going to ask, did he mention what his one meal a day looks like? He's talked about it. He does a lot of high fat and protein. I think he doesn't do too much carb right now he's feeling great right so it's like a lot of people would even see that and be like oh that's too restrictive of a diet blah blah but again you got to think of the individual if they're feeling good if they're feeling satiated if they're getting on all the nutrients they need to
Starting point is 00:24:59 get into performing okay it's not a restrictive diet for them. Yeah, because let's see, Ted Naiman put this little chart out, and I really, really like it. So basically what he's explaining is the short-term and long-term satiety effect of protein, fiber, fat, and carbs. And so protein will make you feel full now and later. Fiber will make you feel full right and later fiber will make you feel full right now but not later so if you can imagine eating like a bowl of broccoli here like oh i feel bloated that makes a lot of sense but then five minutes for down the road you're like fuck i'm hungry yeah
Starting point is 00:25:35 but then something that i'm experiencing right now is fat like yeah in the moment i do feel like i need to start getting more like like fuck do i need something i need something but then what happens like i'm full longer uh i just thought this was amazing and then well it's so funny i love i love what you just said because i remember you two years ago like i'll do 40 grams of fat yeah oh i know right yeah good shit on a good day on a good day i'd roll in 40 grams of fat, but like 400 grams of carbs and like 300 grams of protein. But no, I mean, for the one meal, I'm sure he's getting a lot of fat in and a shit ton of protein. And so that's how he's able to keep it sustainable because he's not hungry the rest of the day because he got in everything that he needed. And Bruce, I know you're listening. So chime in on the comments and correct me if there's anything I'm butchering
Starting point is 00:26:26 about what you're currently doing, because I'm checking in there every few days, but I think I have it somewhere right. And he's killing it. Yeah. Yeah, and you can kind of go through these diets sort of blindly and just be like, yeah, man, I'm still always hungry.
Starting point is 00:26:40 Well, yeah, you probably, like, I don't know, like, I could fucking eat right now. Like, you know what I mean? mean like i'm kind of always hungry and when i was 330 and i was fat and i just ate i was still hungry and even now when i just eat i'm still hungry even when i'm fasting i'm hungry when i'm sleeping i'm hungry like i will still wake up in the middle of the night and fucking eat something i'll still have a protein shake like Like I'm hungry all the fucking time. So the hunger thing is something that you need to learn. You need to learn how to deal with it in some way.
Starting point is 00:27:11 I think fasting can be really helpful. But I'm telling you that there's something big time to some of these suggestions that we've been giving you for a while. And it's not just us. There's other people that are in the carnivore space. There's people talking about eating meat and eggs. And I just – I think that there's really something here. That's why I'm so passionate about it.
Starting point is 00:27:31 I think it could really help a lot of people because people are – they are hungry. And sometimes people are like, well, maybe it's just because I'm bored. Well, what if every – what if you can kind of eat almost every single time you're hungry? I think that you can. I think that you can. I think that your best option would be to employ a whole food diet to eat meat and fruit and vegetables. I would leave dairy out if you're a heavier person for a little while because it's just the calories can get real dense other than a protein shake um and i would do that for two weeks and fucking have at it have fun
Starting point is 00:28:12 eat a bunch of eggs eat some bacon just whenever you're just cook up food right the second week that you do it just say like can i pull back on that amount of food that I'm cooking? Like, if you don't feel like you can, then fucking go another week, give it another try. But once you start to fill up your cups, when you fill up your cup for protein and you fill up your cup for fat and you fill up your cup for the micronutrients that your body needs, your brain, eventually, it doesn't happen on day one, but your's like hey we're fucking good man like that hunger thing that has been an evil motherfucker that we've been dealing with our entire lives you can just you can kind of chill out a little bit like we're actually okay chubby boy like you
Starting point is 00:28:55 can just relax you know you're okay i still know that you still want to eat because you're fat fuck but hold on a second you're actually doing doing okay. Don't go to the fridge. I'm like, mama said, fucking chew your food. That's right. It's so important. We've had guests that talked about it. We've talked about it too. And I still have a bad habit of trying to chew too fast.
Starting point is 00:29:15 And then I catch myself and I'm like, wait, Encima, chew until it's mush. Because if you just take your time and eat that meat or whatever you're eating and chew it, don't swallow the meat down with two chews. Chew it down. You'll whatever you're eating and chew it. Don't swallow the meat down with two, two chews, chew it down. You'll notice you will get fuller faster. You won't end up having to eat as much to be full because you're taking time to eat your food. That's a big deal. We're not huge fans of like tons of research, but there is a lot of research in this area. There's the way that you digest the food, how you're eating it, what you're doing while you're eating it. Are you sitting there, you know, frantically, you know,
Starting point is 00:29:47 making negative comments on social media while you're stuffing something in your face? Like, that's going to have a different impact. It's going to all register differently. Yeah, what time of day should people, if they did want to try out some one meal a day OMAD style dieting, do they have it for breakfast? Is it like normal dinnertime type of meal?
Starting point is 00:30:05 What do you guys think? I think you just do it whenever it's convenient. You know, same thing with running, same thing with lifting. Fuck all these rules, man. Do it. Do any of these things whenever the fuck you want. I personally like to do them later in the day because I like to get as much kind of from each day that I can figure out. And then once I'm done doing that, doing all my work, then there's like a reward.
Starting point is 00:30:30 I kind of like the idea of like earning your food in a way. All right, I'm going to do all this stuff, and then I'm going to eat later on. So I think Ensema does the same thing. We kind of minimize calories during the day, and then there's a lot of calories later on in the evening and uh my whole brain everything just fucking shuts down later on in the day like i got a phone call from a friend last night and i was like what the fuck is he like why is somebody calling like i'm just i'm not even like i'm just i'm fucking gone like i'm a
Starting point is 00:31:00 fucking vegetable at that point i could barely do anything anything. Like I can't – like I can do stuff. But like the cold plunge is really difficult after I ate. Like my arms are down. Like my guard is not up anymore. Like I'm not a tough guy anymore. All this tough guy stuff, all the things that I talk about all the time, the discipline, it's all out the window now. I ate all my food and I'm fucking just super calm. And I ain't going anywhere.
Starting point is 00:31:24 I'm not going on a walk. I'm not fucking doing shit other than like getting ready for bed. Embarrassing story that I want to, I want to give people a fair warning about, um, cause this could happen. You pooped in the cold plunge. Oh, no. Many a time. Okay. That did not happen. That's a great filter. Nah, that did not. Actually. Yeah. You know, on the cold plunge, that didn't happen. But when I first started fasting, I did a little bit of OMAD. The first time I did OMAD, I was so hungry at the end of the day that I just made all this food. I just started eating. I was like, oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:31:54 This is great. And I finished up. I sat down. And 10 minutes later, I was super nauseous because, number one, I didn't take time to chew my food because I was a fucking child. But – and number two, I just ate too much too quickly. And I ended up throwing up. I didn't make myself throw up. It just was like I threw up a hell of food.
Starting point is 00:32:12 So I want to warn people about this because this is why some people I don't need to do this anymore. I think my body's gotten used to just starting to eat. But what I started to employ was having a little bit of like light food before my big meal to get those juices going. So like I used to do a little bit of bone broth before I ate that first meal to warm up my stomach, to get ready for digestion. I used to do, I used to instead just like start with a little bit of eggs, just plain eggs. Because what I noticed is when I, when I went too hard on that seasoned food that I made, my stomach was like, what the fuck is going on?
Starting point is 00:32:48 I've been empty for so long. Fuck you. It's coming out the same side, right? So I want to warn people about that because you're going to get super excited because you're going to feel so hungry and you'll go too quick and then you'll throw up and you'll be like, this doesn't work. No. You just got to warm yourself up.
Starting point is 00:33:02 Now, though, I don't need to do that anymore. I can just start eating. I chew my food, though, I don't need to do that anymore. I can just start eating. I chew my food, though. So that's probably something that's keeping me kind of safe. But this whole OMAD thing, remember, like, number one, you want to get in enough protein. You want to get in enough fat. And you want to make sure that the food you're eating, you have enough of it. Because what's going to happen with a lot of people is that in that one meal, one of the reasons why this could work for us well is because we eat a
Starting point is 00:33:29 lot in that meal. And some people are like, how do you get in all that food? Well, there's a lot of meat, there's eggs, there's for me, there's rice and stuff. And for me also, I have, I typically do have some protein during the day. So before that, I'll usually have a protein shake that maybe has 70 or 80 grams of protein and then I'll have my meal too. So it's like toy with this and understand that it's going to take time to have you get used to it. It's not going to be an immediate thing, but it's over some time. It might not be something you use every day, but it's a very useful tool in different situations. It almost doesn't matter if it's sustainable, right? I mean if you eat one meal a day, the next day you eat two meals.
Starting point is 00:34:11 The next day after that you eat one meal again. Eat three meals the next day. You have one meal. Like the same thing with fasting. I think that's some of the cool things. It's like there's just not a lot of rules with it. It ends up being pretty awesome. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:22 there's just not a lot of rules with it. It ends up being pretty awesome. I realize like the style of diet that I follow and basically what you're doing as well, it's like there are, you know, when you break it down and you're explaining it to somebody who hasn't had a dietary intervention before, there's a lot of rules to it, right? But for us, it doesn't feel that way.
Starting point is 00:34:41 It doesn't feel restrictive in any way. Like I want to eat meat. I want to eat eggs. I want to eat eggs. I want to eat sausage. I want to eat bacon and cheese and all the things that are on my diet. I want to eat them. And then more recently, bringing in like liver and some other stuff. I think this is where things can get a little bit weird.
Starting point is 00:35:01 But treat your liver like you treat a cold plunge. It's a hard thing that you got to do during the day if you can if you can swallow a frog first thing in the morning then you're ready you're ready for just about anything um a lot of people wake up and the first thing they do is blend up an athletic greens are they going to tell you that i mean they're seriously going to try to tell you that that tastes good? I've never had it. I don't think it tastes good, though.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Does it taste good? No. There's some that have, like, spirulina. But, see, people love that because they're like, it's healthy. Yeah, but it— But they won't do the same thing on the other side for meat. It's the equivalent of, like, what I would assume, like, a fish farting in your mouth is what spirulina tastes like. That's fucking great. I've taken spirulina pills before, but this is the thing.
Starting point is 00:35:46 No, not pills. I'm talking about like the powder. I mean, I wouldn't necessarily think that athletic greens is gross necessarily. I just, it's not a preferred flavor for me. Like it's, it's kind of like drinking black coffee. Like it, I don't really love the flavor. I love the result that it gives me. And so maybe somebody loves a result that athletic greens is giving them or something like that yeah because like if you're gonna say like oh i could never have
Starting point is 00:36:07 liver because that's disgusting but like how many kale shakes have you had and you choke those down because it's so good for you right apparently supposed to be so good for you and people are all bad for you no but i'm just saying like it was at one point it was like the thing right you hear so many people too uh promoting like multivitamins they're like oh yeah i i they're like i do this i don't really mess with too many supplements but of course i throw in a multivitamin and it's like how do you how do you have any idea that's fucking healthy a multivitamin is probably horrible for you it's probably fucking horrible for you what the fuck is it it's synthetic it's not natural that's true it's not made up of anything natural.
Starting point is 00:36:46 Like where are you pulling that vitamin C from? Where are you getting the vitamin A from? Why not eat liver? Why not eat stuff? I mean, when you eat the foods, you don't have to go out of your way to eat liver, but you could start to look into the nutritional profile of other foods. If you like vegetables more, I guess you can try to figure out how to derive it from vegetables. But we do know that there's more bioavailability through meat and through organs and things of that nature.
Starting point is 00:37:09 And liver specifically is considered to be like a natural, a natural multivitamin. It's just kind of sitting there for us. I don't really love the flavor of it, but I started messing with it and it's something that was easy to employ. Now, for some people, they might eat it and say, look, man, I tried it for 10 days. I fucking gave it the best shot I could. It was too gross. I couldn't figure it out. Fine. That sounds good.
Starting point is 00:37:34 Did you maybe try heart? Maybe try some other things. Maybe try some other eating other types of animals. Like why not just explore a little bit and see what you can end up landing on maybe you um maybe you find out that you like something like salmon roe which is like an amazing form of uh omega-3s god i'm gonna buy some of that right yeah it's good yeah it's fucking awesome it's expensive explore something it can be very expensive because sometimes it's just flat out like they're the bigger eggs and it's just flat out caviar oh where do you like where can you get liver anywhere so i've never purchased liver piedmontese oh they sell they sell packs of liver yeah they do yeah the hell so you get
Starting point is 00:38:14 them there but also if you don't want to get it from piedmontese you can go to your local butcher and ask for like cow liver yeah or calf liver i'm not sure yeah cow or calf liver they'll they'll have a lot of the mexican like butcher shops man they have the fucking best stuff ever yeah did you not know they got everything yeah no but like i went to one recently it was amazing they were like what else do you want yeah uh it was in uh up near bodega shit. I got to hit that shit up. You know, tongue is really good. When I used to buy burritos a lot,
Starting point is 00:38:51 when I used to do that. Lingua burritos or chorizo. It's just funny because when you're like, just go to your local butcher and I'm like, does he mean like Rayleigh's? No, no, no. Because I'm like, I don't have it there too okay i'm like i don't have a butcher yeah they'll have it like anywhere anywhere where they have a case
Starting point is 00:39:09 of meat they have butchers that's true that's true so anywhere they have yeah some of the just you'll you know like uh owen he worked at the co-op and he was a butcher at the co-op but all those all those places they all have owen was a butcher at the time. I didn't know this. Yeah, exactly. And, like, I legit, like, I know that they, like, they cut, like, shit in the back. But I didn't know, like, they would have, like, a whole piece of a cow that they have to break down completely. Yeah, they might not always have it. So you might have to kind of ask. And then they might be like, oh, that comes in on, like, Tuesdays and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:39:42 So it might be a little bit of that. But then there's also just at the store there's chicken liver you just gotta have seen yeah you can just ask somebody hey it's weaker right we the weaker bird weak animal all right is liver expensive it's very inexpensive okay it's yeah it's actually like yeah very very cheap can we find it the piedmontese one yeah so people can piedmontese has liver and they have uh bone bone marrow and bone marrow is fucking amazing it is after after you told me about it i cooked some ground beef in that bone marrow it's so good it has a lot of vitamin k in it and stuff oh here we go am i slurping this down i think so it is really like butter though like you weren't joking that's sick yeah
Starting point is 00:40:27 that was that shit was so good yeah bone marrow is interesting it's kind of waxy um i eat it raw as well raw it just doesn't taste hardly any different but like heat it up a little bit it kind of gets a little melty so i kind of dig that too but i I took a picture of it. It's on my Instagram. I put it on some cheeseburgers the other day. It was just, oh, dude. Like fully cooked or did you like, what did you do? No, I didn't cook it at all. I cooked the cheeseburgers, obviously. And then I just forked out the bone marrow right on top of it.
Starting point is 00:40:57 Oh, okay, okay. Yeah. It was good? It was fucking awesome. Hey, man. Chef fucking Bell over here. Andy's looking at me all the time like, what in the fuck's going on? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:07 What are you doing over there? Grass-fed beef bone marrow. Bone marrow. Beef split marrow bones. Yeah, so at the time of this recording, they're doing a 25% off sale, but by the time you guys hear this, it'll probably be over, but you can still use promo code POWER to get 25% off. We're supposed to put together a little pack of this stuff with like a steak or something like that we're working on.
Starting point is 00:41:29 How about the liver? Oh, yeah. That's what I was looking for. I forgot. Yeah. Power Project found me. How's it going? Now, on this podcast, Mark Andrew and I, we talk about fasting a lot.
Starting point is 00:41:39 We talk about the ketogenic diet and a lot of different types of diets. But Bubz Naturals has a product. They have the collagen protein, which is amazing. They have these apple cider vinegar gummies, which are like crack, but they have these MCT oil powder packets that I've never used to do this, but in the morning I'll wake up and I'll put it in coffee. And the smoothness, number one, in terms of the mixing is amazing, but the consistency of my energy through the day because of the mct oil powder is peak andrew how's your experience yeah no that's exactly it it's like the best way to start the day uh you're satiated you're energized and you're just ready
Starting point is 00:42:16 to crush the day uh so if you guys want to get in on this mct oil powder head over to bubsnaturals.com and at checkout enter promo code power project to save 20 off your entire order again bubs naturals promo code power project to save 20 off links to them down in the description as well as the podcast show notes but um okay i was going to mention this because for us now right for example i had a protein i had some keto pro in my coffee this morning with some electrolytes right but when i say oh yeah i eat one meal some days and i fast people are going to be like oh you're not fasting it's protein in your coffee right so one thing that i think happens with all of us oh there it
Starting point is 00:42:57 is is this liver yeah that's how much is it that looks good uh so it looks like it's about 30 bucks for um i don't know for a count of 8 ounces I eat it raw I just eat it raw I just take it out of the package and I have it in like a thing in my fridge and I just pull it out and I just
Starting point is 00:43:15 fucking eat some of it you just take like a nibble and cut it I cut it up with scissors which is that whole process is disgusting too because it's very like squishy so it's a little weird. Do you chew it or do you – I saw Chris just gulp it down. Do you chew or swallow?
Starting point is 00:43:29 I've gulped it once. I chew it. I know. I chew it. There are like little secrets with it. If you chop it up and you have it like slightly frozen, then it becomes these like little bites and that works pretty good. Because again, it just turns into like weird slop. It's like not very it's not very user friendly but uh i use salt and i also sometimes will use um liver king uses maple syrup and that actually works really good really uh
Starting point is 00:43:56 maple syrup and i think he had olive oil and salt on there it was fucking amazing he didn't even notice how gross liver is eating it that way i think liver would make me hungry but that sounds really good when you said maple syrup yeah i usually just do salt like i usually just like get salt on it let it sit for a while and then eat that but that maple syrup shit sounds like it could be pretty good um i'm not i'm used to eating liver like it's not weird uh but that that sounds really good does he use any special maple actually well you know maple syrup probably uses some more natural shit well yeah maple syrup is uh is a natty and that free mrs butterworth is a natty sugar so yeah it's just like raw or whatever the fuck it is i don't know good shit i was gonna mention though real quick with the fasting stuff because like you know the protein
Starting point is 00:44:41 the coffee it's not fasting um but when we started doing fasting in the beginning, we were a little bit off the deep end with it. I mean, I know I was off the deep end. I can't speak for anybody else, but I know that I was fasting every day. And the cool thing is that by going off the deep end a little bit, I think everybody does this when they start a new type of diet. Like when they go carnivore, I'm strict carnivore, no maple syrup, no fruits, you know, just just like but it gets you i guess kind of used to certain things and then you start adding certain things in i think there's a benefit to that i think there is a benefit to doing 16 hour fast and staying strict with it having caffeine and having electrolytes or whatever because it it really does get you used to
Starting point is 00:45:21 not being food focused this is the i think this is the big benefit of it because everyone's like, Oh, the main benefit of fasting is the caloric restriction you get since you're not eating during the day. But I think the even bigger benefit, and we've talked about this so much is that it trains you to be okay with being hungry. It trains you that if you're a little bit hungry, you don't need to reach for food. Every time you feel that it comes and it goes. Our guest yesterday, he was like, man, he was like, man, I'm not a fasting guy. And you could see he kind of got like a little wound up about like even thinking about missing food for a while. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:51 And I was thinking, I does not envy him. I don't envy him either. Right. Because like when we eat, we can fucking eat. But when we're not eating, it doesn't bother us. Because now, because we fasted, we've gotten used to not having to reach for food every time we're fucking hungry that's the king benefit because now when you go back to going to whatever diet you do when there are periods during your day when you're not eating you're not constantly
Starting point is 00:46:14 thinking of your next meal and that can make sticking to any diet you do so much fucking easier and then i was thinking about it because i was like man maybe i can split up my breakfast into like a lunch meal because i do have a lot of calories in the morning. So I have eight eggs and four pieces of bread. Like that's kind of a lot of food. And then I'll have a protein shake with it as well. Okay. But I thought about it and I was just like, man, they would kind of suck to put a wall on this meal. Like I can't, I can't cross this line. I can only have four eggs right now instead of like this really big plate of food where i'm like i am full like and i'm not thinking about food right now i don't know like i guess
Starting point is 00:46:51 it's like you can kind of pick your poison like do you want to eat a little bit right now and then a little bit later or do you want to eat a lot right now and then eat a lot later just uh twice a week just don't eat it at all or that too yeah there you go yeah something simple you know like uh because like being in the middle kind of sucks i think yeah being in the middle like wakes up the demons it's like poking the bear man yeah it's uh it's getting it's it's like putting your feet into the cold plunge and then just sitting there deciding whether you want to go in or not i was just listening to uh 50 cent this morning i was working out and that song little bit came on and i was like what a load of shit this is this song oh how's it go yeah go ahead pull
Starting point is 00:47:35 your pants down just a little bit just a little bit take them off pull them down just a little bit it's like no you're not going a little bit exactly you're going you're fucking going all in right you don't want to get teased leads to problems right leads to being out of control that's just what you say to like just a little bit yeah and then oh just a little bit more. Yeah. And then it's sexual assault. Yeah. Like, you know, you're going to prison. Yeah. Child support payments for the next 18 years.
Starting point is 00:48:14 Fuck. Oh, man. I don't like teasing. I'm not a fan. Like, don't fucking tease me. I'm not patient enough for that shit. That's why I like fasting. That's why i like fasting that's why i like fasting because then i can no middle ground with it it's right in front of me and i can just eat
Starting point is 00:48:29 it all right there right then done fuck that i'm not gonna eat that breakfast tomorrow okay yeah you will no i won't say i won't it's gonna it's gonna it's gonna call you in the morning no just uh doing it every other day i think would be like fucking awesome yeah why not because yeah exactly like i'm not really that hungry in the morning anyway so i look forward to it we'll see what happens when i get here though that's when the hunger gremlin is gonna come get me yeah i don't i don't get out of my house uh all the time without eating you know it doesn happen every day. Yeah, sometimes I'll have breakfast. I'll have a couple eggs, things like that. But more recently, I've been trying to get out of the house with like – I just had like a coffee protein shake type of thing like you're having on the show. But I just don't – I don't like having a lot of rules to what I do and I will go back and forth on that a little bit.
Starting point is 00:49:29 I'll sometimes be a little bit more intense with it. Sometimes I'll be more – I guess I would say rather than intense, say intentional with it at times. But I found that this is the greatest way to be sustainable is to not really have a lot of rules. There's nothing – I'm not breaking I'm not breaking anything yeah you know um if I you know choose to have some frozen yogurt with my kids or my niece or nephew or something like that it's like that's just like part of that particular day um there's there's there's nothing I guess like something I learned more recently this is kind of interesting. I went to eat with a group of people and we all got served like different food
Starting point is 00:50:12 and then you kind of shared it and stuff around the table. But everyone got to eat the same thing. And at the end there was dessert and there was like maybe like eight people. So there was like eight different desserts they're all kind of similar but slightly different and no one really cared that much about dessert except for me because i love that shit everybody else was a little bit more into like their drinks and stuff um but i had one of the desserts and i was like the reaction going on in my brain my body is so fucking different than everybody at this table right now.
Starting point is 00:50:47 My brain's doing fucking backflips. It's going crazy. It's like, how do we get more of this? Like, I'll kill a motherfucker for more of this stuff. This is fucking amazing. And that actually was a really profound moment for me. I was like, I don't think other people, it maybe just doesn't register the same way with them. And maybe people have their other obsessions that they're into or whatever, but
Starting point is 00:51:11 theirs isn't like sweets in particular. And that's mine. And I was like, I was like, you know what? You got to be a lot more careful. Like don't fuck with this stuff. So I have stuff in the pantry and my wife bought something the other day, like Catalina Crunch, like chocolate cereal thing or something. Like we have some stuff in the house and I'm just like, just don't even start. There's no reason. There's no benefit of that. It's not going to really give you the nutrients that you need, the calories that you need, and you're just going to obsess over it. So fucking don't do it.
Starting point is 00:51:42 So stuff like that has been really helpful to me. But in general, when it comes to the main part of my diet, I love all the food that I eat, minus the liver. I don't love the flavor of liver. But again, even with fasting, the first thing that I eat when I get home is liver. And I actually kind of look forward to it. It's only been a handful of days and I already broke the habit of being like, oh, this is going to be disgusting. So it only takes a couple days and what I would encourage people on is what if the thing that sounds really hard or the thing that sounds really tough could change your life forever? You're like, fuck these guys and fasting. They're still talking about it.
Starting point is 00:52:23 They talk about it all the time. you're like, fuck these guys and fasting. They're still talking about it. They talk about it all the time. But what if just a handful of fasting here and there really helped? And what if you used your own intelligence, your own intuition about how you operate, how your day goes, and you're like, Seema eats once a day. That seems fucking really hard.
Starting point is 00:52:44 Not every day. Well, yeah, he eats once a day. That seems fucking really hard. Not every day. Well, yeah. He eats once a day. Most days. Most days. One meal a day most days. But maybe for you, maybe you could say, I'm going to have breakfast and I'm going to have dinner. I'm going to eat twice a day.
Starting point is 00:52:58 Is that different than what you're currently doing? If it is, you're probably heading in the right direction. Leverage protein shakes too because one of the biggest things that I see from people in terms of questions that they ask you and questions that I see is like, how do you guys get all that protein in, right? Well, there's a lot 60-something grams of protein. I like milk, so it ends up being like an 85 to 90-gram protein shake bomb. And then I'll still get in a lot of protein through the food I eat, but I can sometimes do that before one of my meals or sometimes at the end of the night, and it's good. Like it's really, really good, but it's not difficult to get all the protein I need to get in. So definitely take that or try that out because some people who do end up doing one meal, they're like, I can't eat all this food at once.
Starting point is 00:53:55 Okay, space it out. It doesn't need to be one meal even though we're talking about one meal a day just like you just said, Mark. If you want to do morning, evening, if you want to do two meals in the evening, whatever. Space it out so you can get in the amount of calories you need to get in if that's something you want to do. It's not hard rules on it. And I guess for someone like me who would try to depend too much on a protein shake, like it can do a little bit too much. So like this morning I had somewhere around 900 calories. Out of those calories, only I think 120 came from a protein shake. So the rest was all whole food, if you want to call bread a whole food. But, you know, the rest came from eggs mainly, you know, because I had so much. But that protein shake, what it did is it bumped
Starting point is 00:54:33 my overall protein like to like 80 grams. And that's just like in one meal. Oh, okay. You meant you. Okay. So I know what you mean. Got it. Yeah. Yeah. So I had breakfast and then I chased it down with the protein shake just to get even more protein in there. Cause with eggs, you know, it's a lot of fat. So a lot of calories from fat, not a lot, but it has calories from fat than, you know, fat free cheese. So to kind of just get that protein leveraging even higher, I had a protein shake, but the whole meal came, a lot of protein came from the whole meal, not just from the protein shake. Yeah. So you had like, cause you had like almost 400 grams
Starting point is 00:55:10 of protein, not 400 grams, 400 calories of protein. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I had a lot. A lot of protein. Yeah. I think what you're referring to is just like some people might lean on that too much. They might rely on the protein shake and not eat real foods. That's true. And then you're hungry. Not only that, but this is what you taught me when I'm like, how come I can't have protein shakes? And you're like, well, you have stomach issues sometimes. And it's like, okay, but I don't get it. But yeah, if I have a protein shake by itself, I'm okay now.
Starting point is 00:55:37 But at one point, my stomach would just hurt because I would get that sick, hungry feeling where I'm hurting, but I feel like I need need to eat but I don't want to eat now so like if somebody is going to try to you know fast or limit their their amount of meals and they have a protein shake like it could go the opposite way so like if I have to have something all or if I have to have a shake by itself I'll seriously just have like a slice of bread which can be counterintuitive to a lot of people but for me it just slows it down. It prevents me from just gulping down the entire shake in like two sips. So that helps.
Starting point is 00:56:14 I enjoy and look forward to every meal that I have. So I think I couldn't say the same thing when I was bodybuilding, you know, during that, you know, eight or 12 week prep that I did. Most of the time I liked some of the stuff that I ate, but it was always like kind of hard to get through some of it. The chicken breast and the dryness of that and then trying to figure out like a sauce. And it just sucked. I didn't. And I ate all day.
Starting point is 00:56:42 I ate six times a day. I wasn't really that calorically restricted, although there were some. But in comparison, now eating burgers and eating eggs and eating steak, I think this is such a great diet for a lot of men that have gained a lot of weight. Because a lot of guys that I know that are heavy, they already usually like those foods. They like those foods a lot and they like them in abundance, but they also might like beer. They might like pizza and starting to cut back on that stuff and then eventually cut out that stuff. You know, you just, yeah, every meal.
Starting point is 00:57:17 And then I end every night with a protein shake, and I've been doing that forever. I've been having protein shakes probably one or two every single day for 30 years i i fucking love it i have last night i had two scoops of the chocolate steak shake and one scoop of the vanilla keto pro um with some water and some ice i didn't have any more milk or anything like that to put in there it's fucking amazing that yogurt shit though i got some of it oh yeah from yeah that there's this yogurt i forgot the brand or something however the hell you say that saint benoit b-e-n-o-i-t right um i got the is the plain is the one you had plain
Starting point is 00:57:58 yeah it was just plain okay i have a question for you did you put something in that because the plant did you mix something in it yeah i put put This is the Way vanilla protein in there. That's why it tasted that way. Because it's good. But I was like, wait, why does it taste different? Anyway, I put it in the protein shake. Where do you get this stuff from? You have to go to the fancy grocery store.
Starting point is 00:58:18 What? Nougat. Gotta go to Nugget. They don't let me in there. They almost didn't let me in either. Then they saw how tall I was and go to nugget. They don't let me in there. They almost didn't let me in either. They're like, then they saw how tall I was. They like let me in, but they would have, they would have turned me away if I was, if
Starting point is 00:58:32 I was busy. Man, this is fancy. Yeah. That shit's good, man. That stuff's really good. It's really good. I put that in that protein shake. I think it's, I think it's just cause like that yogurt has enough like cream in it and
Starting point is 00:58:42 a fat in it to kind of blunt some of the – you know, yogurt has a kind of pronounced tartness to it sometimes. And that one, because of the fat that's in there, it pulls some of that out. So I have a quick question. Did you – But the vanilla is good too. Yeah, yeah. But it has – it does have more sugar.
Starting point is 00:58:59 I didn't have the vanilla. I got the plain one. But for this, do you put that in your shakes or do you do what you did and you mix the vanilla in it? I just eat it, yeah. You just eat it? Yeah, I mix a scoop of vanilla. This is a whey protein in there and it's fucking insane. My favorite, like one of my favorite things is within you, this is a regular chocolate whey protein.
Starting point is 00:59:17 This is the whey. And I'll throw some PB Fit in there and some yogurt because I'm such a huge fan of peanut butter cups and like that's what I do and it's it's so good it just eventually like you can put too much of the peanut butter powder and you just try to make peanut butter but when with the chocolate it's like I don't know mix between a peanut butter cup and like a Snickers it's it's really freaking good you know one thing that you guys should consider and I I think it's maybe it's unnecessary purchase because if you can get yourself one of these maybe you'll get the same effect they're so cheap everywhere you get them these are super cheap so get get get these things you can get one
Starting point is 00:59:54 of these mixers anywhere but bubs has them couldn't buy one and i have just for a little bit more money that actually is way more powerful i think well i actually think that those things are only like five bucks or something right yeah there's one on Amazon that's like 20 or 30 bucks. I have it at home. Is it more powerful? Yeah, it's fucking great. I mean, it will whip shit around though, so you got to be careful. You need a pretty big.
Starting point is 01:00:13 Andrew, you saw it, I think, at my house one time. I don't remember. Yeah, this one of mine broke at home. I got to buy you guys some. They're pretty cool. But yeah, get yourself a fucking Ninja Blender. Oh my God. It's a hundred bucks.
Starting point is 01:00:24 My girl just got one and i made this i i put some you know i like using milk but you can use water so i put some milk two scoops of this is the way one scoop of bubs collagen some creatine i just blended all of it up the first off the amount of shake was so this is a lot i love when it expands yeah it took me a while to drink it but the taste it it tasted like a fucking milkshake and i'm not even joking because people are like oh these fitness people and these fake milkshakes no this tasted like a milkshake but it wasn't bad because you used whole fat milk i did no no what i'm saying like that is the fucking key because like me and a
Starting point is 01:01:01 bunch of other people will use like almond milk and then we'll but it'll still be it'll still be really good but let's be honest like if you want like a real milkshake you want to get that milkshake side of things you need to throw some fat in there yeah is this what you're talking about mark like a emulsion blender or is it something different uh no it's different than that it still looks like the little thing that he had there but um okay i can't it's called like goldie or something i think this is what i remember is on there but you know if you don't want to go too crazy with the calories of the milk you could go half milk or you could do you could do the almond milk thing it still tastes good cashew milk is amazing it's so thick and it's only 25 calories per serving
Starting point is 01:01:40 it's fucking awesome i i make a lot of this stuff straight up with water a lot of times fucking it's awesome i know that people are like yeah it doesn't work it it will be really good obviously with milk or heavy cream it's going to be better heavy cream yeah be careful with the heavy well i don't need the heavy cream i got that yogurt but see heavy cream to me like i love stuff like that like why not go and buy spend a little money on getting some good heavy cream have that shit go through it don't buy it again for a little bit so you don't chub out on it you know and rotate stuff in and out that's what i do with fruit that's what i do with um some of the dairy that i know i'm just gonna eat a lot of i won't buy a lot of it i'll just buy like one thing of it eat it in a rational way or or not
Starting point is 01:02:27 doesn't matter because i'm not going to buy it again for a little bit and have fun with it and make shit taste really good let me tell you this though yesterday or is the day like yeah i think it was yesterday i was really there i want some cold stone like i was i was feeling i was like i want fucking cold stone i'm gonna have some cold stone today but then i was like let me just make this shake real quick and just chug it down and see if i still want fucking cold stone. I'm going to have some cold stone today. But then I was like, let me just make this shake real quick and just chug it down and see if I still want some cold stone. And when I was like, I was a third of the way through, I'm like, I don't need the cold stone.
Starting point is 01:02:51 I got this. Calms you down. Calms you down, man. These cravings still happen, but you got options now. I must be dehydrated. I'm going through this water. I don't know. There's something in the air because I'm there yeah I where is it
Starting point is 01:03:07 going through this I need to go get some of that shit do the the sparkling this guy water from the sparkling hibiscus Oh Barry whatever I'm awesome yes oh I might have some in my office I go steal some from your office this shit's so good it's just sparkling water it's nothing super duper special but for some reason out of a can I don't know why I'm digging it so much. It's not because it's out of a can. It's because it has a little bit of that sugar sugar in it. No, this one doesn't have anything.
Starting point is 01:03:29 It's just sparkling water. Oh, just the straight sparkling? The Liquid Death sparkling water is so good. Yeah. Liquid Death isn't a sponsor, but I think, Mark, you said they're all about the sustainability aspect of water. So getting rid of plastic? Mm-hmm. Getting rid of plastic bottles.
Starting point is 01:03:42 They have the death of plastic bottles. They're pretty good. That's why they got these aluminum cans. I don't know if they're better or not. Who knows? Somebody's going to blast this. They're going to be like, aluminum's just as bad. I will say, though. It creates more pollution to recycle aluminum.
Starting point is 01:03:57 Bro. Come on, bro. Their flavored sparkling water is, it does hit the spot, though. Yeah, the berry? The berry. They have a lime one. They have the spot though. Yeah, the berry. The berry, they have a lime one, they have a mango. The mango's the best.
Starting point is 01:04:09 I think I forgot what the fuck it's called, but it's mango sauce. It should be called, bury it in your ass. The whole can. I gotta be, I gotta be the marketing person for these people. I don't know why they're not gonna hire me.
Starting point is 01:04:20 It doesn't make any sense. You know what the way, what the way their marketing is, because if you go to their website, it's blood and gore. Exactly. It should be buried in your ass. That's what we should call that flavor. Buried in your ass.
Starting point is 01:04:32 Yeah, buried in your ass flavor. Be careful with that one. You're going to come out with some kind of berry flavored within you protein powder. It should definitely be called that. My wife fucking sucks. She really does. She won't. Puts an end to all the fun?
Starting point is 01:04:48 Yeah, all the time. We made an amazing within you orange flavor that's going to be coming out pretty soon. And I wanted to call it Orange Julius Caesar. Or my other one was, Orange, you glad this isn't just chocolate and vanilla again? That would have been good. She's like, we can't do that. I was like, I'm going to make stickers. I'm going to put it on there.
Starting point is 01:05:14 Individually, I'll do it myself. So is it just going to be called Orange Creamsicle? Something like that. Orange Bicycle. That would be better. I would like that. But what was her reasoning like why why did she say no she's a smart business woman power trip
Starting point is 01:05:30 like you know it's tripping on me it could have the shock factor like oh orange julius caesar or yeah i love that i like that right that would be cool. You could hit the nostalgia bone with the Orange Julius. Yeah. It's funny because, oh, Julius Caesar. Get it. Exactly. Fuck. Real quick, though, revisiting this thing.
Starting point is 01:05:54 As far as the OMAD thing, did we hit that sustainability thing well enough? I think we did. I think we did, yeah. Yeah? Well, quick three tips if people want to jump in on omad then so that way we can bring it all back man uh so i would say if you're currently used to eating you know multiple times a day i would maybe start out with just trying to eat like maybe two dinners or something like that rather than rather than thinking that it's like just one meal. A double dinner.
Starting point is 01:06:25 Yeah, kind of a double dinner, maybe one at like two and one at like five. And if that's not convenient timing-wise, figure out whatever would be convenient for you. And then another option would be just to try it out like on a day. Just pick a day where you're – I think it helps if you're busy. Pick a day where you're busy. Do something in the morning that keeps you away from food. Like make yourself busy or get some coffee or something like that. Go on walks.
Starting point is 01:06:52 Do a bunch of other stuff to distract you away. But really I think eating one meal a day just for one day is a great practice to try. So just give her a shot and then then the next day, you know, go back to a normal day and maybe go back and forth between the two for a while until you get the hang of it. And caffeine is an appetite suppressant. Take advantage of that caffeine. Sometimes in the morning I will wake up and, like, I'm hungry,
Starting point is 01:07:16 but then I'll actually just drink some electrolytes and some water. And I'm like, actually, I wasn't hungry, right? So remember, especially, like, sometimes you might just be thirsty. You might just be dehydrated and you'll drink some water and you'll be fine. But that caffeine will also allow you to suppress that appetite until a little bit later. But I think this is a really, really good practice to train yourself not to be food focused because a lot of people like I can gain weight very quickly because I can eat a lot. And a lot of people like ourselves who are food focused, who do love to eat, we need to, fasting and OMAD can be beneficial for us to train those triggers of hunger and being okay with it. Because then over time, hunger is not going to bother you like it used to. It won't be something where you feel hungry and then you binge on a fuck ton of food and then you end up falling off. You'll be able to feel it. You'll be able to understand it will pass. You'll have mechanisms to be able to cope with hunger and everything as far as dieting will be a lot easier.
Starting point is 01:08:15 Just another warning. With any diet protocol, if you end up binging, it didn't work. So if you don't eat for the day and then it's 7 p.m and it's time for you to eat and you ordered fucking chinese food and you went off the rails and you really went in and then you had ice cream that the day was way too challenging for you and you're off the team yeah it's just like any diet that you try where you end up if you try to reduce your calories or you try to do anything too strict and then you end up – I'm not talking about like eating just a little bit of food. I'm talking about like binging, like really going off the rails and then having a hard time getting back on track again.
Starting point is 01:08:57 That's a good indication that your diet protocol didn't work. So if you mess around with OMAD and you find yourself three days later like really overeating, whenever you do a fast, when you're trying to utilize fasting to lose body fat, to lose weight, you have – the best thing that you can do is just pretend the fast never happened. So it's not like time to like make up for lost times and be like, oh, yeah. If you were doing that, especially for some of us that can eat a lot, you would probably have to eat like every three days to kind of match that hunger curve. For reals. And that would be too miserable. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:36 And I don't want to say like, oh, you need anything like, you know, as far as like arming yourself to get through these fast. But, you know, there is fasting gum from within you. That works really well. Fasting is really dope actually. Something that I will use is Kratom. That helps that hunger go away. Mind bullet. Along with caffeine.
Starting point is 01:09:58 But something learned from these two guys is occupy your mind. So when you get hungry, go for a walk, right? Just that way you get your mind off of everything because hungry go for a walk right you know just that way get your mind off of everything because what you were saying you know like pretend like the fast didn't happen how many of us have actually eaten forgot that we've eaten and be like fuck i'm hungry it's like oh shit that's right i ate like 45 minutes ago that happens and then you get hungry and then you're like oh wait i did eat but it doesn't matter if you ate because you're already hungry you can do the opposite and just ignore the fast and pretend like you're not hungry, I guess.
Starting point is 01:10:29 I don't know. But it will help. All right, Andrew, take us on out of here. Sure thing. Thank you, everybody, for checking out today's episode. Please drop us some comments.
