Starting point is 00:00:00 This is Mark Bell from Super Training Gym. Super Training Gym, the strongest gym in the West. The mind is like a magnet and it'll attract and pick up things that we believe in. A magnet is not going to pick up a bunch of popsicle sticks, basically. I want to talk to you today a little bit about this hat. And I'm going to relate it back to this quote that I just read. Try not is a concept that I really truly believe in. Obviously, you've heard Yoda talk about it before. It's, you know, do or do not, right?
Starting point is 00:00:32 There is no try. I've seen this example given before. Someone will say, I've seen the example done in seminars. They'll say, you know, come up here and they'll have one of the students or one of the people in the seminar say, hey, you know, come up here and try to move this chair. And the person's not sure what anyone's talking about. So they'll, you know, just smush the chair a little bit. And the teacher will say, no, that wasn't what I meant. You know, the next person will come up and then one person will actually just do it and they'll actually just move it.
Starting point is 00:01:07 And the teacher's whole point is, look, there is no try. You can't try to move it. You either moved the chair or you did not. You either were successful with it or you were not. Everything comes to those who work for it. Every single door for opportunity will open if you're interested enough.
Starting point is 00:01:25 But nothing comes to the weak, fainting heart. Nothing at all. So again, this isn't about trying. This is about doing. When you do, when you work hard, when you put in the work, other things will just work out. Because you're putting in the work every single day i had a discussion with my brother a while back and my brother was saying how he was trying something he's like yeah i've been trying this and i've been trying really hard and i said i
Starting point is 00:01:54 think that's your problem i think as soon as you try you actually mess everything up and so this idea of doing things like figuring out a way to do it. The word try is interesting because we can use it in some different fashion. We can use it in some different manners. And I am a big believer in giving a lot of different things a shot to kind of see where you stand and to see what you're capable of and see what you're able to do and see what you're able to handle. But at the same time, the word try, a lot of times it implies there's going to be an out. A lot of times it implies that if I tell Carlos right here, if I say, hey, I'm going to try
Starting point is 00:02:38 this, that means he said, well, Mark didn't say he was going to really do it. You know, he didn't really say he was going to actually get shredded for his birthday.'t say he was going to really do it. You know, he didn't really say he was going to actually get shredded for his birthday. So he was going to try. So then it holds me less accountable. But if I said, look, dude, December 10th, when I take my shirt off, you're going to be like, holy shit, man, I've never seen you look in shape like that before. There's a big difference between telling someone that you're going to try something versus somebody versus telling somebody that you're going to try something versus telling somebody that you're going to do something. Telling somebody that you're going to do something is exposing yourself.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Telling somebody that you're going to do something is like taking your pants off and being like, yo, just you're letting it all hang out, so to speak. You're like, hey, this is what I'm working with here. Sometimes I think we're scared to say what we're going to do. We don't feel confident enough in ourselves to say what we're going to do. And so this idea of try not is something that's really important to me. And that's why I made a hat about it. And that's why it's got the little slingshot web in there. We're going to be selling this thing. web in there because we're going to be, we're going to be selling this thing. The more I started to think about it, the more I started to recognize how bad ass it is to, to make yourself accountable and to, and to do stuff. And just because you fail at something
Starting point is 00:03:59 that doesn't necessarily mean that you tried it because you still did it. For myself, I did a bodybuilding show. Did I try to do a bodybuilding show or did I do one? I did one. I competed in bodybuilding. Does that make me a bodybuilder? I don't know. The other bodybuilders would have to determine that for me, I guess. But I think you guys catch my drift here and I think you are picking up what I'm putting down. Remember what I said in the beginning about the magnet. A magnet is not going to pick up popsicle sticks. It's going to pick up things that you believe in. Your belief in yourself, in my opinion, is where all of our strength and all of our advantage as human beings lies.
Starting point is 00:04:47 If you think about what separates us out, like I know we think there's so many differences between us. I know that there's so many things that divide us. Color, economics, there's all this stuff, right? But we're really so much the same. We all have a mind. We all have the same. We all have a mind, we all have a conscious, we all have a subconscious. We're able to think. We are not a zebra. We are not a bird. We don't have to fly south for the winter. We get to decide where we want to fly. We get to decide where we want to drive. We get to decide what our interpretation of YouTube is.
Starting point is 00:05:25 I get to decide how I want to teach, how I want to coach, how I want to preach, how I want to get my message across. I get to choose that. These are all choices that I get to make. Why do we have these choices? Where do these things come from? They come from right here. They come from your mind. Right? Our mind is what separates us out from all other beings. We all have a mind. We all have some genius inside of us.
Starting point is 00:05:54 I think if I was to say, if I was to get up in front of a room and say, who in here thinks they're different from everybody? I think people would be kind of shy about putting their hand up. I know for a fact if I said, hey, who in here feels they're a genius, that probably no one would really. There might be one person in there that's real confident in themselves. Or maybe other people would view that person as being cocky. They might put their hand way up high and say, I'm a genius. But let me tell you something. We all have genius inside of us because we all have a special gift inside of us that we can work on, that we can mold, that we can
Starting point is 00:06:36 harvest that. And that can be our crops that we get every year. For me, I've been fortunate to be creative, but I've also been fortunate to really lean into that. And my creativity came in invention. I was able to make an invention. Once I was able to make the invention, I was able to harvest it, and it's some crops that we lay out every single year,
Starting point is 00:07:00 and I get a certain amount of reward from those crops because it provides value out to people. You get to be just as creative. No one is holding you back from that. You get to. You get to plug your mind into. Whatever it is that you want to do. And you get to apply it.
Starting point is 00:07:17 And adjust it towards that. But you don't have to be confined into any sort of box. You don't have to try stuff. You need to do stuff. You need to figure out ways for you to be productive. Remember what I always say about success. Success is not something that you chase. If you chase success, all that's going to happen is you're going to get really tired. And even if you chase it and you end up catching up to some of it, you're not going to get all of it. You're not going to get most of it. Because success is not something that we chase after. Success is something that we attract. And you attract it by being an attractive person.
Starting point is 00:07:58 And I don't mean by your looks. I just mean by being an attractive person in terms of how you act, how you treat other people. Do other people want to be around you? Are you cool? Or are they like, oh shit, man, here he comes. If they are, it's going to be tough, man. It's going to be really, it can be some tough sledding to try to get
Starting point is 00:08:17 and gain the success that you want to get. And then you'll end up probably being somebody who typically says, oh, I was thinking about trying that someday. I was thinking about doing that, you know, I was thinking about trying that someday. Rather than saying, you know what, I'm just going to shut up and I'm just going to do it. That's something that I learned from John Cena. I remember, you know, John Cena, he's not somebody I'm in contact with all the time.
Starting point is 00:08:49 He has been a friend for over 20 years. But due to his schedule and due to my schedule, we're not communicating every day. But I remember just chit-chatting with him one day and he just started speaking Mandarin. And he's like, oh yeah, I've been doing, I've been doing some studying up on some Mandarin. But he's already six or eight weeks into it. He's not telling me about something that he's going to try to be doing in the future. He's talking about, hey, like same thing with you guys. I lost 20 pounds already. You're not telling me about you're going to try the carnivore diet. You're telling me about how you did it and you already lost some weight.
Starting point is 00:09:27 So that's my thought process when it comes to trying. I think that it's something that we need to work on eliminating. And I think that we put too many restrictions on our thought. But remember, there are no limits on what you can learn and know. There are no limits whatsoever on what you can learn and know. I'll say it again. There are no limits on what you can learn and know. I think that people don't know that.
Starting point is 00:09:59 They don't realize that. They maybe don't understand that. The only limit that you have is the limitation that you might have put on yourself. So try not. There is no try. There's only doing. Strength is never a weakness. Weakness is never a strength. Catch y'all later.
