and listen to your favorite motivational speeches
of getting ready for the day.
I was going to rip his heart out.
I'm the best ever.
I'm the most brutal of Michigan,
most ruthless champion that's ever been.
I'll show you how much you can truly burn.
They left you for dead.
I know what that feels like to be left for dead after you gave anything you had.
Tomorrow night, I'm going to smash your boy, guys.
I'm going to smash your boy.
There's the time.
Still I'll dispute it.
They will not see you coming as you rise, as you work every single day, tirelessly.
Work.
Work.
Word!
Word!
Word!
Word!
Word!
One more!
It's time you realize
that weakness
it is my strength.
That pain!
It is my development.
That struggle.
It is my triumph.
Everything you think that is here
to take me down
is here to fill me up.
I asked you what is happening to us, my friend.
What has happened to us?
And what are we becoming?
What are we becoming?
What are we becoming?
You know we've been fighting 400 steel fighting to this day.
To this day.
To this day.
At practice, I switched my mind to something else.
To this Desmus, Meridius and Gladiator picking up the dirt, smelling the dirt.
I never underdid things, always overdid things.
In the chat, it's life-giving.
If it's serving your purpose, if it's going to transform you into something you never thought you could be, then do it again.
Do it.
The chat, dropping the comments, man, again, again, again, again, this thing served me, this thing helped me.
It hurt, but it's helping me.
And it's building a bridge to the future and the destiny that I've been called to fulfill.
Period.
Every time you go back, you're building muscle.
You're building mentality.
You're building endurance.
You're establishing faith.
It takes faith to get out of this, to crawl yourself out of a messy history and leave a legacy.
It is the man that refuses to quit.
It is the man that refuses to put down his gloves that separates.
Winners from wannabes.
It is diligence and dedication and determination that separates the all-time grace from the one-hit wonders.
Do you want to do this thing one time?
Or do you want to be notorious for winning over and over and over again?
I just want to know is anybody listening that wants to do it again?
I don't want to win one time.
I don't want to be noticed one time.
I don't want to make history one time.
I want to do it over and over and over again.
Do it again, no matter how hard it was.
No matter how much you pride and you sweat and you bled.
Do it again.
Again, again, again, again.
You think about it day and night.
Whatever the goal is, it's time to shatter the ceiling above your head,
to break records, to shatter the record.
To shatter the status quo
To punch through targets
It's your time
It's your turn
You've doubted yourself
All enough
People have left you
Overlooked you
Undervalued you
Underpaid you
It's your time
To connect
It's your time
To get paid
It's your time
To sign the deal
It's your time
Test yourself off
And try
Show me your habits
And I will show you
Your Fulf
your future. It is what we do habitually. It is what we do every single day that determines the measure of significance that we get to live this life.
Everybody wants to drive something, live somewhere, be connected. There are protocols that must be in place. There are actions that must be taken.
Not just thoughts that you must think, but words that you must speak and actions that must be taken.
And coordinates to where it is that you are going. You are going somewhere. You are either going back.
But you're going forward.
Everybody wants a comeback, but nobody wants a setback.
You can't have a comeback without a setback.
You are going to experience loss.
You are going to have seasons in your life
where you're not going to understand why and how you got where you are.
Many of you have been the villain in your own story,
and it's time to become the hero.
The drama and the chaos, the narrative is about to change.
The story is about to clear up.
This is not a conversation about going back to everything that you left.
There are some things, there are some people, there are some places that once we leave,
we don't ever need to go back because we were tormented and we were haunted and we were abused
and we were talked about and we were overlooked and undervalued and underpaid.
The reason why you didn't win is because you gave up too soon.
You took the exit too quickly.
You were on the freeway to freedom.
You are in route.
You are following the instructions.
You are following the coaching.
You were listening to the video.
Somebody dropping in the comments.
I'm listening.
I'm listening.
I'm listening.
I'm staying the course.
I'm focused.
I'm dialed in.
It's the man that stays on the freeway
in the middle of a traffic jam
and doesn't exit that reaches the point of destiny.
Will you put in the work?
Will you stay the course?
Will you try it again?
Are you willing to change perspective to see this thing differently?
To get to the place of optimal performance and significance of fulfillment,
where every day you are looking for life, you have an expectation, you have a zeal,
you're excited, you're ecstatic.
You've got a bold anticipation for the future.
With each day that is presented to you, you have an opportunity to change everything.
Whatever it is, if it's life-giving, if it's going to impact someone else,
if it's going to empower you to live a life of fulfillment and significance, then do it again.
You may be in a courtroom, you may be in a cage, you may be on the basketball court,
you may be on the football field, you may be down by 40 at halftime.
It is the man that comes back round after round that may have taken a beating thing.
physically, but he is not broken mentally that comes back.
Round after round after round after round after round.
And he goes back into the dark room and he puts the work and he comes back out into the light.
And he puts on a show.
Put on a show.
I'm talking to every builder, every athlete, every professional, every stay-at-home mom,
every father that puts in the work day and night to provide for his family.
I don't know what your dream is.
I don't see your vision.
But if you write it down and you put the work in
and you beat on your craft and you're given everything you have
and you give yourself to your work.
At some point, everything's going to begin to shift and change
because you refuse to quit.
This isn't just a conversation about trying to get.
This is a conversation about winning again.
When we try something again and again,
And again, eventually, when we set a target and we begin to run towards it, no matter how many times we are beaten out, eventually we run through the target.
And so trying again becomes win again.
And I just came to tell somebody today that's listening to me that eventually you're not going to be the man or the woman, the boy, the girl that tries again.
Eventually.
There was a warrior inside of you that will emerge.
There is a person that refuses to lose that will be birthed out of a setback.
And you are no longer the person who is known for coming back from a loss,
but you are known for the person that wins again and again and again.
No matter how many times I face this giant, I am surrounded by walls 100 times.
taller than me they gotta fall down because I have made winning a habit
win again punch through again you gotta go to this trying mentality I'm gonna try
make it a try I will I will break out of the I'm gonna try to try to smile I'll try
to be happy I'll try to make it a good day I will smile I will make it a good day
I will win again I will
bring my A game again. I will give it everything I have again. This mentality, this approach to living
is what builds the bridges to the future. This is how we cement our legacy. He is a man.
She is a woman. You're going to fail and you're going to fail and you're going to fail and you're
going to fail and then you're going to win and that's life. Life without those challenges
It's existence.
Don't just exist.
Eventually, inaction will cost you.
But your default setting should be, I'm going to do something.
Just get up, move towards that challenge, and go attack it.
Go do something that's hard.
Struggle sucks.
Depends on how you frame it.
If you want freedom in your life, you have to have discipline.
Move towards that challenge, whatever that challenge is.
And you may be successful, and you may not be successful, but you will be better.
And the next challenge, you can be more prepared for.
Because we're going to have wins, we're going to have losses.
We're going to have successes.
We're going to have failures.
We're going to have good nights.
We're going to have bad nights.
We're going to have good relationships.
We're going to have bad relationships.
We're going to have good ideas and bad ideas.
We're going to make money.
We're going to lose money.
All these things are going to happen.
And if you oscillate emotionally, up and down drastically, it's going to be problematic.
embrace those emotions, but don't let those emotions embrace you.
Keep pushing through things that suck.
This is a very difficult thing to do because it hurts.
I'm going to go forward.
I'm not going to quit, so I'm going to go forward, bring it on.
When you talk to people that went to seal training that didn't make it,
most of the time, it's some reason.
There's a medical reason.
There's a family problem.
There's very few people that look at you and say,
I quit because it sucked, which is what happens to the vast majority of people.
The vast majority of people that don't make it through seal training, they didn't make it through
because they quit.
Your excuses will destroy you and take everything that you ever wanted from you if you let them.
When your excuses make you feel a little bit better about the fact that you didn't execute
on what you needed to execute on, then they can make you feel better.
But they're not helping you.
They're not helping you at all.
This went wrong, this failed, didn't accomplish this,
and it's not the fault of my boss,
it's not the fault of my girlfriend,
it's not the fault of my parents,
it's not the fault of the weather, it's my fault.
And I'm going to take ownership of it, and I'm going to fix it.
That's what extreme ownership is.
Because when you look around at your life,
and you look around at your job and your financial situation
and your relationship and your physical health,
and when you look at all those things
and all the problems that you make,
have with those things and you say the reason I have all of those problems is because of me that can
hurt that can sting and a lot of times our ego rejects that and makes excuses and lies and then we don't
have to change anything and then nothing changes when the excuses all go away and people can
actually confront the fact that this is all because of me it hurts
but is also unbelievably empowering.
Because the more discipline you have in your life,
the more freedom you will end up with.
So if you lack the discipline to exercise and eat healthy,
you will end up being a slave to disease.
If you lack the discipline to work hard, save your money,
you will end up a slave to finances.
If you lack the discipline to manage your time correctly, you will end up with no free time.
If you have self-discipline, if you have the discipline to save your money and work hard and invest your money properly,
if you have the discipline to manage your time correctly and not waste a bunch of time,
if you have the discipline to exercise and eat healthy, you will end up with freedom.
and you're going to start to progress in every aspect of your life.
And you'll see that if you have that kind of discipline right now,
you're going to end up with freedom.
If you have discipline, you will attain freedom.
Go try and accomplish something that's hard.
You may win, you may lose, you may succeed, you may fail.
I'll tell you what, you'll be better.
And if you don't have that kind of discipline,
and you don't work hard,
and you don't exercise and you don't apply yourself,
you're going to end up shackled.
So if you're in the woods and you don't know where to go,
start walking.
You've got to start walking because the perspective is not going to change.
You have to start moving forward.
But standing there, lost and not doing anything,
is just waiting to die, waiting to starve to death.
Don't let that happen.
I think it's really important because as men, we don't, we get conflicting messages about emotion and how to express it and what that looks like.
And there's a lot of men struggling right now.
Every human faces challenges and you don't know what they've been through.
Suppressing them isn't going to help and nor is letting them run your life.
Because you're sad, now you're going to make a bunch of bad decisions because you're sad.
No, no, it doesn't work like that.
It doesn't work like that.
You're sad.
Okay.
You get emotional sometimes?
Okay.
Got it.
Now, get control of your emotions and carry on with your life.
And sometimes you're going to get hate with those waves.
And that's okay.
Oh, I'm having an emotional moment right now.
There's something wrong with me.
No, there's nothing wrong with you.
There's nothing wrong with you.
The other extreme is, oh, I'm letting my emotions run my life,
and I'm making a bunch of bad decisions.
And my excuse is, well, you know, I love.
from friends or I had this traumatic experience happen to me.
That's why I'm doing, that's just an excuse.
And it's a very easy excuse.
Guess what?
It's time to carry on.
Remember, don't dwell.
I'm in control.
This is my life.
If you are in the problem, you won't see the solution to the problem.
Take a step back, detach from the chaos, detach from the mayhem,
detach from your emotions, detach from your ego,
and be able to assess the best way to execute
that is the job of a leader.
If you take any trait of a human being
and you take it to an extreme,
masculine or feminine or otherwise,
you take it to an extreme,
it's going to be a problem.
Is it good to have no emotions whatsoever?
No, that's called a sociopath.
Is it good to let your emotions run your life
and make your decisions based on your emotions?
No, that's not good either.
What do we want to be as a human, as a man,
I want to be balanced.
It's much easier to be extreme.
It's much easier to say, oh, no emotions, cool, and turn them off.
That's easier.
Or total emotion, mayhem, that's easier.
It's harder to find balance.
It's harder to find balance.
In business, it's hard to find balance.
Life is hard to find balance.
But you have to be balanced.
Because what I want is for the team to win.
So, be balanced.
I want your dream to be so clear, so vivid.
That when you wake up in the morning, all you got to do is step in your dreams.
Ah.
When you wake up in the morning, look at your goals.
Your goals are going to tell you what time to get up.
Are you hearing me?
Your goal is going to tell you who you should be hanging out with.
People ask me quite a lot of time.
Eric, should I do this and I do that?
I can't tell you, but your goals going to tell you how much sleep do you need.
You might not need to get up at 3 o'clock in the morning for your goals.
I don't know.
But your goals are going to define what time you get up, how you live your life,
how you move, when you say yes, when you say no.
when you say no like when you write your goals down you will no no can't do it yep that's for me
or you hear me so write it down and keep writing it down over and over and over what do you want
look you you eat however you want to eat you you do whatever you want to do right and you don't
know what you want when you're not clear on what you want like you you do you get up whenever
you feel like it you don't have no drive you don't have no passion and so if people ask me eat
Where your passion come from? Where your drive come from? I know what I want
Every single day I wake up boom and I go pursue it every single day
How far will your will take you this year?
Because there's some things in life you're not going to get they're not coming to you
You got to go take it there's some stuff that you can't even just earn by doing the good things
Doing the right listen to me there's some stuff if you're gonna get it you got a will to get it
It will happen it will come to fast but it's not going to happen at your death
Like at your job. It's not going to happen in the basement at your crib. It's not going to happen with you in the bed dreaming about it. It's not going to happen with you in the shower thinking about it. There's some stuff, and I'm telling you from experience, you know I was homeless in an ice-proof dropout. You know that, right? You know I was eating out of garbage stands. People say, eat, how did you get to where you are? I will get into. Because something's going to come with heart with will. Until you work on your will, stop giving up and stop giving in. Every time stuff gets hard. DeCivra is going to look just like last December to you.
I will break you if your will ain't strong.
Every day matters.
So be phenomenal or be forgotten.
Now we gotta keep climbing, we gotta keep moving,
we gotta keep going.
You're not where you are because you don't have an opportunity.
The reason why I've been telling you don't be average,
don't be good, try to be great and be phenomenal,
the reason why I told you that is because, listen to me,
you gotta understand.
You have to understand if you stay average and you stay,
stay good you'll never get to where you're trying to get to great is about growth it's about going
from the right brothers to the smaller plane to a 757 are you hearing me that's 757 and you still
operating on the right brothers plane and i'm telling you if you average you're going to be forgotten
if you're good you're going to be forgotten nobody's going to remember you listen to me you got to
get away you got to run from average like a plague and then when you get to good you got to make up in
your mind that good is only to going to be for
few moments. It's just a, it's just a platform. You're going to get out of good,
and you're going to go to great. And then you're going to be like your boy, man, for real.
I'm trying to transition. I'm trying to transition. I'm trying to go through great.
Man, look, you see it. It's your dream. It's your goal. And so you got to make an investment in it.
If you need 10 grand, you'll make the investment, right? Stop asking people to a sponsor your
dream, to make your goal become a reality, to babysit your child, to rear up yoke that what was
birth to you to take care of it.
Hey, listen to me, stop begging.
Invest in yourself.
I'm gonna tell you something.
If you invest in yourself,
what you will discover
that other people will invest in you.
But I'm telling you,
ain't nothing gonna change if you can't see it.
So I ask you a question.
What do you want?
And I ask you, what do you want?
Because the days you don't feel like
getting up out to bed,
the days you feel like quitting,
giving up and give it in.
Listen to me, the only thing that's gonna get you
up out that bed,
the only thing that's gonna make you
strive past that obstacle get past that brick wall and come in the only thing that's going to make you
get up and do what you're supposed to do is what you see you got some special inside you're not only a
special person created a special time you have something special in you and this is the year so you do
special things all right so this is the year to do the impossible i need you to drive possible what do i mean
when i say drive possible i mean okay let me get an example right
You got a tree, right?
If you hit a tree, I'm talking about a big oak tree.
If you hit an oak tree a thousand times in a thousand different spots, what's going to happen?
Absolutely nothing.
But if you hit an oak tree a thousand times in the exact same spot, you know what's going to happen?
You're going to bring it down.
You're going to do the impossible.
So what I need you to do for me, Monday I need you do the possible.
Tuesday I need you to do possible.
The Wednesday I need you do the possible.
Thursday I need you do the possible.
Saturday, Sunday, I need you to do the possible.
We're gonna drive it home. What am I talking about? I'm talking about being consistent. I'm talking about regularity
Listen to me. I'm talking about consistency once you can get that momentum going once that momentum gets going
Boom is no telling where you can go. So the first level was all about you all about you
Understand there's nothing you can't do there's nothing you can't add there's nothing you can be but that's over now
Now we got a build on that what are you willing to sacrifice to get what you want what are you willing to give up
You want to be the best at your company.
You want to make more money than you've ever made.
You want to travel the world.
I don't know.
I don't know.
You want to build your second home.
I'm not sure what you want,
but I need you to understand that you've got to give stuff.
You can't stay where you are and go where you're trying to go.
And that's the problem.
Many of you, you love your comfort zone too much.
You love it.
You love security too much.
And I'm telling you, you can stay where you are.
You can.
But you can't stay where you are and try to go where you're going.
So what sacrifices this year?
you're willing to make what are you willing to let go off well are you willing to give up
right what are you willing to part ways with right all right so that's why I would say
you gotta want this thing as bad as you want to breathe but before you can want as bad as
you want to breathe you gotta know what you want for real I've been I've been out of the
country I did that I got the passport I seen the world I did that I got the degree I did it I've
been there done that I'm married yep got the house yep picket fence yep two kids yep I got it
Now I'm trying to let other people face it.
I'm trying to let other people feel what it feels like to break a cycle.
I'm trying to let other people feel what it feel like to make their dreams become a reality.
Are you hearing me?
Don't nobody else got to see what you see, but you got to see it and you got to see it clearly.
So what is, and when I say see it, hear what I'm saying.
I'm not talking about visual.
I'm talking about in your mind.
I'm talking about using your imagination.
Like you ain't got to pay for that.
There's no limits.
There's no boundaries.
Like stop letting people.
stop you. Stop letting people tell you.
Eric, if I was you, I wouldn't do it. You ain't me.
You're not me. So, of course you don't see it.
Of course you don't think it can be done. Why?
Because you can't do it, but just because you can't do it, but just because you can't do it,
stop calling them to hate us.
They just don't see what you see. They're not in your mind.
And then when I talk about seeing it, I'm not just talking about your imagination.
I'm talking about purpose and in your heart.
But I believe in it happens.
A hundred percent that whatever it is you set out to do that you can do it,
that you've got everything that's it.
what it takes to do it. You are unique, you are special. You listen to me. You would just die in a way that nobody else was.
When that blueprint was made for you, listen to me. They threw it out. There's nobody else like you.
So you gotta do me in favor. You gotta believe it.
This ain't about today. This ain't about tomorrow. This is about everyday. Why? Because
every day matters. And when you learn to perfect every single day, you're gonna wake up and see yourself doing things you never thought were possible.
I'm the biggest fighter in all history.
I'm the greatest fighter in all history.
I don't have to convince nobody then that I am great.
They all know it.
I'll fight any man in the world.
I'll beat any man in the world.
As you know, I'm a confident man.
I don't believe or I can't see anyone beat me.
Nothing worries me.
This is nothing but a small thing that will soon be out of the way.
I put everything on line because I'm a true fighting champion.
I got the one in the ring, I'm handling it.
And I don't worry about nobody.
and that good really hurt me, see.
If you don't believe,
you come down here and try.
I'm unranked.
It will be no match.
Oh, I'm so glad.
I'm going to make all of them shut the mouths.
All of my critics,
I've told you all that I was the greatest of all time.
I'm still the greatest of all time.
I'm going to float like a butterfly and sing like a bee.
His hands can't hit what his eyes can't see.
Nothing can stop me.
been on the old type controversy, all kind of pressures.
Look at my face.
I'm the original champion, a veteran of 186 fights not a scratch,
two-time United States Golden Glove champion,
two-time United States National AAU champion,
world Olympic champion, 13 rounds out of predicting when I'm in a fall.
He who is not courageous enough to take risk for accomplishment in life,
I'm a risk taker.
Tell all of the people out there who bet on Sonny that all of them are going to
lose their money and get to the fight early because I might get him in war.
All of you jumps are gonna bow when I whip him.
All of you, I know you got him.
I know you got him, dick, but the man's in trouble.
I'm gonna show you how great I am.
I'm in such a high level until I don't think like you.
I'm not like you.
They just don't want to admit I'm as good as I am.
What would you like people to think about you when you've gone?
I'd like for them to say he took a few cups of love.
He took one tablespoon of patience.
one teaspoon of generosity, one pint of kindness.
He took one quart of loft of laughter, one pinch of concern,
and then he mixed willingness with happiness.
He added lots of faith, and he stirred it up well.
Then he spread it over a span of a lifetime,
and he served it to each and every deserving person who met.
Some people could see father the lovers.
Some people are praying, pray,
but limitations.
We all live in a long world of limitations.
Some people can see farther on others.
So therefore, when people judge what I'm doing with their logic,
it can't be done.
Their reasoning said it shouldn't be done.
Their knowledge of history says it can be done.
So that reasoning, their knowledge and their logic clashes
of my superior belief.
Therefore, the result is they don't believe.
Here's how the fights will sound on the radio.
will sound on the radio for those who can't afford to buy the expensive PA or six.
And the fight goes like this.
Ding, Ali comes out to meet Frazier, but Frazier starts to retreat.
If Frazier goes back an inch farther, he'll wind up in the rain side seat.
Ali swings with the left, Ali swings with the right.
Look at the kid to carry the fight.
Frazier keeps backing, but there's not enough room.
It's a matter of time.
There Ali laws the boom.
Now Ali lands on the right.
What a beautiful swing.
And the punchless Frazier cleaned out of the right.
I had two minute fight.
I fought all contenders.
I fought every two months.
I gave everybody breaking of title.
I didn't duck nobody.
But really, I don't know who isn't going to fight next,
and I really don't see nothing around good enough to give me a warm-up.
And I'm going to fight George Furman, knock him out, and truly retire well invested.
And you tell everybody that I'm still the champion of the world,
and I'm going to take him, I'm going to clean up the ring with it.
I'm going to just sweep them all around the rain.
I am the champion.
I'm still the greatest, and I cannot lose.
I'm going to prove to the whole world that I'm still the best.
I'll always be the best.
I cannot lose.
It's impossible for me to lose.
Everybody has a purpose in life.
Mine was just to be the World Heavyweight Champion.
To be declared by all as the greatest of all times.
That's right.
I'm going to make you eat everything you say against me,
all of my critters.
I am the greatest. I cannot lose.
I'm pretty.
I don't prove to the world that I'm still
the fastest, the prettiest, the most
classest, the most scientific, the greatest
fighter of all the time.
For this fight, I've wrestled
with alligators. I've tussed
with a whale. I don't handcuffed
lightning and put thunder in jail.
You know I'm bad. I've
murdered a rock. I injured a
stone and a hospitalized
a brick. I'm so bad. I
make medicine sick. I'm so fast, man. I can run through a hurricane and don't get wet.
When joy is fuller meets me, he'll pay his death. I can drown a drink of water and kill a
dead tree. Wait till you see, Mohammed Ali. I don't believe that I'm going to be knocked out
and pushed around. I've experienced. It's why I know I'll win. And it's the fist that controls
the brains, and my brains are so wise. My brains beat Jofracia. I'll thank Ken Norton. I plan.
I'm going to fight round by round.
See, I'll think a man.
See, the matter door beats the bull.
The bull is the strongest.
Bull hits the hardest, but the baddest
the smartest.
Man conquered all the beasts in the jungles,
got them in cages, but the beasts can whoop the man.
I told you, I'm the champion of the world.
All of your bow!
I'm not a fighter, I can't fight.
I'm nothing.
I've only had 250 fights, never lost none.
World Olympic gold medal, one or two-time United States,
A.U.
Champion, International Pan American Game Champion.
National AAU champion 59 and 60
have predicted what round my opponents will fall in 16 fights.
Don't have a mark on me, but I can't fight.
Ain't people hypocritical gem?
Now everybody bet on me. Ain't that something?
Still trying to talk it into these people's head
to listen to me. They don't have a man around the hood.
I still got the world!
I still got the world!
Because I'm the champion. I'm the real champion.
There'll never be one like me.
I'm going to prove a world.
I'm the greatest. I'm improving to you. I'm the greatest. We're going to prove to the world. I'm the greatest.
It's time to stay focused. It's time to decide clubs, partying, trying to fit in and socialize,
rub elbows with everybody so people can stop calling you weird. Why are you so anti-social? Because I'm trying to get it.
Why are you staying on the basketball court so much because I'm trying to get it?
you out there practicing in the hot sun when ain't nobody else out there because I'm
trying to get it why are you not clubbing like every time I text you and invites you to go
do some fun and cool you always studying because I'm trying to get it I'm just
thinking how funny it is where I'm gonna be tomorrow morning and my competition still
drinking down their fears and they're you know trying to escape their current
reality you know Friday night party so then go out there and party it up and
everything else you find some relief to the
stressful life they live in. That's a bull-should temporary relief. I'm working tonight for a permanent relief.
That's why I laugh. I laugh on how much further I'm getting ahead of it.
Mental toughness isn't something that you sample. It's something that you live in every day.
So when something hard would happen to these kids like in Hell Week,
it would draw on something that made them very insecure and they look for comfort.
whenever
hardness comes
and you don't know what it is
it may be different
for you than this for me
but you go back
to your insecurities
and then when you go back
to insecurities
you then look for comfort
within those insecurities
and we all look for that
cookie that your mom used to give you
when you were sad
when you were sick
we look for our wife
or our husband
we look for comfort
it's in those moments
you must retrain
your mind
to
Think differently.
What if I told you this was the last Monday morning of your life?
How do you stay driven?
I'm going to ask you a question.
How don't you stay driven?
Let me get this right.
You won the lot of the universe,
which is you are a human being on Earth.
And you're not driven,
and you're not fired up,
and you're not going for it,
and you're willing to sit like a lump
and just wait till you die?
You suck.
It gets harder for anybody that's living.
and breathing.
So no matter what you do,
you got to keep moving forward.
Strong in the trenches.
You don't know where you're going.
You're lost.
You know what I mean?
You have no direction.
So for me, I felt like both of them together,
when you really, when you have the vision
and you're able to manifest,
and you also put the work in,
magic happens, man.
Magic.
That's where the magic is.
But a lot of people never get there.
Unfortunately, a lot of people are,
we're blessed that we can dream.
I gotta get stronger.
I gotta train differently.
The weight training program that I'm doing, I gotta tailor it for an 82 game season so that
when the playoffs come around, my legs are stronger and that ball gets there.
So I look at it with rationale and say, okay, well, the reason why I shot air ball is because
my legs aren't there.
I got, well, next year they'll be there.
That was it.
Done.
Done.
Where are your values behind the scenes?
What do your hagglers look like behind the scene?
Come on, what kind of work are you putting in?
behind the scenes, come on, drop down and give me 50, come on, write it again, come
on, believe it again, come on, sing again, record your song again, come on, I'm talking
to that athlete, I'm talking to that musician, come on, who are you out there?
When you are comedians, you give everything you have.
Every single day, you are either losing ground or gaming ground.
The choice is yours, but this time, make it personal.
The attitude goes a long way.
So again, going back to this guy here, Chadwick Boseman, rest in peace, passes away.
Four years has calling cancer.
No one knows about it?
He goes to the doctor.
That means that this doesn't mean he's not taking care of his body.
He's going to the doctor, but he doesn't advertise his pain.
Sometimes it's just good not to advertise your pain.
Sometimes it's good to not just tell the whole world what you're going through.
I'm not telling you, don't talk about it with a group of people.
I'm not telling you have some private conversations with certain people.
I do believe in the ability to have some kind of a form of a release, but the way people are doing it right now posting everything on Instagram, all this other stuff.
What's the point behind it? You need attention? Is that what you need? It's not necessarily mental toughness. Mental toughness, people are not looking for attention. Mental toughness, people are trying to get results. A big difference.
I don't drink. I don't smoke. I don't f around. I don't party. I don't go out. Am I lame for that? Absolutely. To be lame in the eyes of somebody, I would know.
never want to be like is nothing but an absolute success.
You see, it's only an uncertain person that needs company and what they do to feel like it's
the right thing.
But real confidence stems from doing what's best for you, even if that means doing it alone.
My biggest confidence comes from consistently pushing myself and leaving no gap between what needs to be done.
done and what I do on day 1962 in a row of running every morning look who's out here with me not a
soul that's just fine there's no such thing as a free lunch there's no magic pill and there are no
three easy payments of 999 if you want something if you want to be good at something you want to
accomplish something you've got to put in the time and the minimum amount of time that you can
can put in is an hour a day of dedicated practice for six straight months. If you want to be good at
something, you've got to do it every day. Like we look at people like LeBron James. Why is he good at
basketball? Because he does it every day. You look at Wayne Grexky in hockey. Why was Wayne
so good in hockey arguably the greatest of all time? Because he did it every day. And so my number one
piece of advice to people, if you want to be good at something, whatever that thing that you desire is,
passion is do it every single day that's the real secret to success hustle is
putting it all in the life hustle is waking up one day the day before you die
and realizing you gave it your all into the parenting of your children the
building of your businesses the philanthropy that you wanted to do whatever
you define it's just you know all in there's a difference between something
missing and am I satisfied right because I'm not satisfied I mean I always
want to like I never I never get done
with the end of the day and go, cool, mission accomplished.
Like it's like you're gonna be close.
Yeah.
E.T. aren't you ready to take a break?
Yes.
I might be, but listen to me.
I can't. Why?
Because I grind for Jalen.
I grind for Jada.
I grind for Didi.
I grind for my mother.
Are you hearing what I'm telling you?
I grind for Vanessa.
I hustle for, so the days I want to hit that alarm clock.
I think about my why.
I can't quit.
The Achilles were like the kiss of death.
Yes.
Athletes.
Like, I don't know.
know if I can do this. I don't know. There's so many factors. There's the surgery that has to take
place. The surgery has to go well. Right. And then just it's a tendon. I'm not dealing with
anything that's muscular or things that I can control. I can't control a tendon. You know what I'm
saying? So like I don't know. It's a long, long process. But like when I went in the trainer's room,
my kids are in there and you know, they're looking at you and stuff. And I'm looking at them.
and I'm like, you know, it's all right.
It's all right.
It'll be fine.
It'll be all right.
It'll be all right.
As a parent, you gotta set the example.
You gotta set the example.
This is another obstacle.
This obstacle cannot define me.
It's not gonna cripple me.
It's not gonna be responsible for me stepping away
for the game that I love.
I'm gonna step away on my own terms.
And that's when a decision was made that,
you know what?
I'm doing it.
I'm doing it.
Champions keep going when you're doing it.
they don't have anything left in their tank.
That's the difference between the greats.
That's what separates them.
When they don't have no more, when it's over, when they're tired, when they're frustrated,
when they're ready to give up, when they spent their last dime, that's when they get started.
All you hear me is when you have nothing left.
It's when you depleted all your money, when all your energy go.
When you have nothing left, that's when it's showtime.
When you find the way out of no way.
When you find breathe breath that you don't have, when you find energy that did not exist,
when you want this thing as bad as you want to breathe, that's when you find a way.
You still got work to do.
Stay on that basketball court.
Stay on that football field.
All the homies text them and calling and trying to make you feel bad about being so focused.
It's grind season, honey.
It's not about today.
It's about the future.
You do the work now.
Do the work now and all of this that you could ever want to do for your family, your kids, your loved ones.
It's all going to be on a whole other stratosphere.
