New episodes are being released every week. The link is in the description.
Starting point is 00:00:39 You go after things. You try them. Even if you fail, you get back up. And you continue to try and fail. Continue to try and fail. And ensuring you never fail to try. If you want it bad enough, you find a way. If you don't want it bad enough, you find an excuse.
Starting point is 00:00:56 The only way you're ever going to get to the other side of this journey is you have got to suffer, to grow. To grow you must suffer. Healthy things grow. Healthy people grow. But growth hurts like hell. But growth hurts. Becoming the best version of yourself comes with a lot of goodbyes. It's really fucking uncomfortable, but you need to do it if you want to grow. Everyone's got the talent and everyone wants it, but somebody wants it more. Someone's heartbeat is constantly beating for it. When you perform to a certain level when no one's watching,
Starting point is 00:01:37 it's an habitual habit that's trained and perfected and then remastered and remastered every single day. If it always feels easy, you're probably doing it wrong. Growth hurts before it pays off. The pain that you feel today, though, is going to be the power that you're going to feel tomorrow. To grow, you must suffer. You can't escape it.
Starting point is 00:02:00 You can't run from it. All you have to do is rise up again. Everybody wants success and nobody wants to suffer. And without suffering, there is no success. So suffer now and live the rest of your life a champion. It's not a game. Every single day you gotta get up and fit the work in. Every single day you have to give it all you have.
Starting point is 00:02:28 Because the future is depending on you. Children, people, generations are depending on you. And what you do today will determine how your future looks. Everybody wants a new life and new area code, new zip codes, new cars, new relationships, new connections. We want influence and affluence and money and power. But nobody wants to suffer. You can't have anything.
Starting point is 00:02:55 We're done with the paint. So put the pain in. Suffer now. You want to break my motherfuckin' legs, so be it. I have a way of going to a place where all the pain and suffering that they put on top of me in Hell Week. I will reverse that pain and suffering and I will take your soul, knowing that I'm comfortable, being very un-fucking comfortable.
Starting point is 00:03:25 That's my happiness, is my reflection on the suffering of my journey, knowing I never quit. Only weak motherfuckers in life. Go after things they already know they can achieve. You've got to do something in your foot sure. Try something new if you want to switch it up. That's where growth comes, man. That's where your body is forced to adapt. Forced to suffer the discipline today.
Starting point is 00:03:52 So you never suffer the foreign regret tomorrow. That's what the fuck that's about. We have the ability to go in such a space. if you're willing to suffer and I mean suffer your brain and your body once connected together can do anything
Starting point is 00:04:11 you know I think about greatness I think about not whether you have what it takes like that I think everybody has what it takes but it's will you do what it takes and that's the difference a lot of people listening
Starting point is 00:04:29 you have what it takes but will you do what it takes to be great greatness is doing whatever it takes to get there. I had to figure out I wasn't going to be a punk kid all my life. So the way I could turn it around was to suffer. I had to build calluses in my brain the same way I built calluses on my
Starting point is 00:04:52 hand. So I broke the Ginsburg of Roy's record for pull-ups a long time ago, but I failed at it twice. And I did 67,000 pull-ups in trying to break this record. So to do 4,030 pull-ups, I had to do 67,000 for training for that. Wow. And so what I realized is for me to become the man I wanted to become, I saw myself as the weakest person God ever created. So I wanted to change that to be the hardest man ever created. Am I that? I don't know, but you had to have a goal. My goal was the only person that's going to turn this person around is me. The only way I can turn around is put myself through the worst things possible a human being can ever endure. And that would be the only way that I can build this brain
Starting point is 00:05:39 to handle anything that comes in front of it, callousing my mind, through pain and suffering. It's not about the dog that's in the fight. It's the fight within the dog. Well, yes, it's a shitty situation. I've got to go to work because I've got to pay the bills and support my family. But you know, it doesn't mean to shortcut my success in what I'm doing. I'll find a way to work this out.
Starting point is 00:06:00 It's all about the perseverance of somebody. That will override any endeavor. What continues to last forever is a perseverance to always show up. That's what champions do. Every single champion is the same as every ordinary person. The only differential is that they show up to the event every single day. They see failure as a learning curve. They welcome failure.
Starting point is 00:06:19 You learn more from failure than you ever grow from success. So showing up and get knocked on your ass, and back up and read face that endeavor is going to be the overriding factor that makes a difference. can be attained if you show up and you're willing to to risk failure for success. But what I find so interesting is how we as a species run from pain, we run from suffering. I firmly believe that you need something that is brutal, is difficult, is hardship, it knocks you off center, it makes you feel bad because in the process of rebuilding and clawing
Starting point is 00:06:57 back from that climbing up, then you can become something. But unless you've been tested, unless you've gone through the ringer, you've got no hope. What you've done is maybe the ultimate expression of that, which is how do you put yourself through it? Only this strong, survived, and all the crap. They're all just fucking words. Someone may think, Gaghan's just talking. You don't know me. So when I speak, I speak from passion.
Starting point is 00:07:19 I speak from experience. I speak from suffering. There will always be pain. There will always be betrayal. There will always be somebody that doubts you, somebody that overlooks you, someone. somebody that undervalues you, somebody that talks to talk but doesn't walk the walk, somebody that's with you but not for you. We're always going to experience pain. I'm going to say it again, it is inevitable and it is unavoidable.
Starting point is 00:07:43 So use it because it's always going to be there. There will always be a measure of pain in your life. If you can for the rest of your life live inside of yourself, stop listening to people who are calling you fat. Everything that is makes no sense. All these insecure people putting their insecurities on you, you got to flush it out. You got to just be whoever the hell God or whatever the hell you believe in. If you believe in nothing but yourself, I don't care what it is.
Starting point is 00:08:11 You got to take everything and throw it away. You have to believe in one thing and that is yourself. Right now, for you to find greatness in yourself, you're not going to find it by looking in a book or by even hearing me. I may give you the spark, but you've got to go inside yourself to find it. And that means you got to be quiet. Shut the fuck up, go in a room, stop talking, search your soul, search your mind, search your abilities, and you'll find it. But if you're not looking for it, you won't find it.
Starting point is 00:08:48 So you've got to go start your journey. And the journey starts with you finding, why the hell am I here on this planet earth? Why am I here? If you don't know that, you will live the rest of your life searching, always asking the question why. On that last 19 miles, feet are broken, ankles are taped, shin splints, stress fractures, what are the words that are going through your mind? Are you in the cookie jar? I'm deep in the cookie jar. The cookie jar is something that I've made up of all the failures of my life, all the things that I was, I failed.
Starting point is 00:09:25 and I went back. I fell and I went back and I finally succeeded. All the things that kicked my ass. I put them all in the cookie jar because at times of hell, even the hardest men, in times of suffering, what we do is we forget how hard we really are. Because that's what suffering is. Suffering is a test. It's all it is. Suffering is the true test of life. And so that cookie jar travels in my brain. So whenever I get put in a situation where life sucks, I take a second, I take the one second decision, I step out of my life for one second, go in the cookies jar, pull up, oh, motherfucker, you went, you were in three hell weeks and finished two. One of those hell weeks, a guy died and killed it was so bad. Oh, you are a mother fucking badass. You're under no obligation
Starting point is 00:10:09 to be who you were five minutes ago. You can just change it. Just decide to be somebody else today if you really want to. And then the second thing that holds people back is the fears that they create. But there's actually on two fears that people are born with. It's the fear of loud noises and the fear of falling are the two ones that are built into the human circuitry. Everything else is learned. You have primal fears which is actually like physical pain or death attached to it, which we need to survive. The other ones, the fear of failure, the fear of rejection, the fear of not being loved, the fear of running out of money, all of those are intellectual fears because they're not actually existing in reality in this moment. Fear is a
Starting point is 00:10:42 perception of a imagined future event. And the key part is imagined future event. It may never happened. And it's not happening right now. We got to suffer. That's how we grow. That's how we become something that the world has yet to see. If things are going to get tough, I got
Starting point is 00:11:03 to be ready. What if the pain can make you better? What if the pain could build muscle? What if the pain could cause you to retire to leap farther, to run faster? What if the pain could help you? What if All pain isn't hurt, but it's help.
Starting point is 00:11:22 It holds more value than you think. Because that's a small step of what the big steps become. And if you shortcut the simple, easy ones, how are you ever going to complete two from start and finish the ones that really matter? Just like a true champion doesn't just exist in the arena, but exists everywhere else too. Those moments and inches that are won at the final hour that make or break a win or a loss aren't discovered there.
Starting point is 00:11:56 They're discovered through thousands of hours in the training lab. When no one's watching, do you get up and run at 5 in the morning when it's pouring down rain? At those competitions, at the very end state, what really wins it isn't the potential of the person? It's the perseverance. I know who you are because you're the same person in adversity and victory and defeat. You're the same motherfucker. I've suffered enough. I've been suffering all in my life.
Starting point is 00:12:35 I'm sorry. It's not enough. This whole thing about suffering, yeah, it sucks. Really bad. Really, really, really bad. But we all live on this side of suffering. On this side, this nice box that's very comfortable that we know. know when everything is going to happen. We're in it. It's good. We know how everything's going to turn
Starting point is 00:12:56 out. It's those few people who are willing to go on this side of suffering. And once they get through that, ask him how he feels now, his mind, how far he grew. In that short period of time, he grew so much more than the normal person because he was willing to go outside himself. Because on the other end of suffering is greatness. We're built to walk uphill. And when you reach the pinnacle of the hill, you want to stop and appreciate the vision. But the next thing you want is a higher hill in the distance, because it's the uphill climb that it's from the uphill climb that we derive our value.
Starting point is 00:13:40 And I mean this technically. So almost all the positive emotion we feel, that's experienced in relationship to a goal. And so in some sense, you want a goal that you can never attain, right? So you can always move closer to the goal that recedes as you move towards it. You think, well, that's frustrating. It's like Sisyphus pushing the rock uphill. But it's not because as you pursue that goal, you put yourself together, and your life does get better and richer and more abundant.
Starting point is 00:14:09 You want them to be above everything you're doing so you can continually move towards something that's more sublime and better. That's what you are. You're here to live, not to, not to sleep. Because you wouldn't have prayed like you pray had you not been hurt. You wouldn't love like you love had you not been hurt because you know what it's like to hate somebody. So you refuse to go down that path. Feelings has nothing to do with it.
Starting point is 00:14:36 This is my dream. This is what I'm going to do. And I'm going to do the things that I don't feel like doing. I'm going to do the things I don't want to do. I'm going to do the things that don't come easy to me that do not come natural to me I'm gonna get up and do it you can't live your life on feelings you cannot let your feelings dictate what you are or are not going to do today don't get that fire inside to make it happen out there until you go to the fire in here leaving it all here expecting it all out there
Starting point is 00:15:14 that's how it works when you leave it all here guys you then have the right to expect it all out there. It doesn't work the other way around. You can't half ass it here and expect anything but a half ass flight out there. You know, it doesn't get easy, my friend. Running 12 plus miles a day,
Starting point is 00:15:33 doing 800 plus push-up today, lifting weights every single day, working two jobs, working out of my comfort zone at the club, but it's worth it. Because if you think it's about fitness, You're wrong.
Starting point is 00:15:48 If you think it's about the money, you're wrong, because it all goes back to one point. One important point, my friend. I'm waiting for the mentality, the mentality to keep going, no matter what happens. Nothing should be easy. If it's easy, it's not going to be worth doing. So many people love to have the opportunity to find the easy way out and celebrate something that they never really worked hard to get. It gives you an opportunity
Starting point is 00:16:24 to appreciate the challenges more than letdowns, the failures. It gives you more ammunition, so when you do eventually get to where you want to be, just in case that moment comes and you get knocked back down,
Starting point is 00:16:40 you understand what it feels like and you know you're not going to stay down for very long because you know what that ground feels like. His life is relentless. You better keep coming back from all your failures, all your doubts, all your shit. You better keep fighting, keep kicking up. Never fucking lay down for shit.
Starting point is 00:17:01 That's one thing we should all agree on. If you're broken once, you know how that's it feels. That means try and break me again. One thing in life, suffering has no inspiration date. It don't give a... If you're black, white. poor, rich, where you come from, how you were raised. It will keep coming after you.
Starting point is 00:17:27 Stay hard. It hurts, but we've lifted these weights and we're trying to accomplish and go. It hurts. It's painful. It's daunting. It's cumbersome. I don't want to do it. I'm sweating.
Starting point is 00:17:39 I'm bleeding. I'm crying. I'm suffering. But after I've suffered, there is a reward. See, we spent too much time thinking about how bad it hurts. instead of how good the future will be after the pain. And so after the blood, after the sweat, after the tears, after I've cried, all I'm going to cry, I want to use the pain to my advantage.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Now, what age should you have everything together? For us, normal people, it takes time. Because not only do you have to mature and grow, there's things in life that if you have a big enough dream, you're not the person you need to be right now to fulfill that dream. Now, you keep moving towards it. You keep doing what needs to be done. But at the same time, you realize that you yourself are gaining in knowledge and in experience and in personal growth.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Do you still struggle with all of the shit that you talk about? Oh, my God. Yes. That's why I'm so fucking relatable. I do not have this stuff figured out. I am shoulder to shoulder with everybody. They look and see, and then I quit to adjudge your ability. But they weren't there.
Starting point is 00:19:07 They weren't there through the struggle. They weren't there through the sleepless nights. They weren't there through the pain. They weren't there through the trauma. They weren't there through the tears. They weren't there to pick you up. You did that. So what gives them the right? What gives them the right to judge you?
Starting point is 00:19:27 They don't know your ability, my friend. They don't know what you're capable of. They don't know what you can do, so you find a way to push through. You find a way to keep going because nobody can tell you anything when you're the one who dragged yourself out the dark. When you're the one who dragged yourself back into the light, my friend. They have no business in your business. So you keep going. We all going to go through it.
Starting point is 00:19:57 We all have to go through it. Including myself. I'm going to tell you something. When you are doing everything in your power to be the best makeup of yourself, it's always going to be an adversary that's going to try to take that away from you. Now, the best way you can overcome this is having the faith. Now it doesn't matter what you believe in As long as it's something that's positive
Starting point is 00:20:24 That's going to get you through it Imagine if you can use pain as a fuel Imagine if you could use the pain as a passport Imagine if you could use the pain to push you to condition you To prepare you for the stages and the rooms you've got to walk into And the tables you've got to sit at And the stages you have to stand on What if the pain could make you better?
Starting point is 00:20:46 What if the pain could build muscle? What if the pain could cause you to? reach higher to leap farther, to run faster. What if the pain could help you? What if all pain isn't hurt, but it's help? I'm sick right now, my friends. That can't stop to grind. In a world where everybody is so comfortable and lazy,
Starting point is 00:21:10 why don't you be the one to do it uncomfortable? Why don't two be the one to take on the challenge? Why don't you be the one to never give up? Why two be the one? They never stop. Why don't shoot me to one? Together!
