Welcome to the NFL Stock Exchange podcast.
In this episode, we're getting back to the stock watch.
So stock up, stock down.
We'll tell you who's up, who's down on the updated big board
that's coming out very, very soon, I should add.
We're also going to give you a new name
that we have not brought up here on this show
for the 2025 NFL Draft and a player
that was a projected day three pick before the season
that is playing their way perhaps into the top 50.
Now, as the season, regular season for college football
is coming to a close, I'm Trevor Sycamore. me as always it's connor rogers let's ring the bell
welcome to the opening bell of the nfl stock exchange podcast i'm trevor sycamore that is
connor rogers joining you guys for not a Fix Your Franchise episode.
We've been rolling with the Fix Your Franchise.
You guys have been loving it.
We've been really appreciating all the engagement, all the conversations, everything.
We will keep doing that series, I promise.
We had a handful of people also reach out to us and say,
hey, we need a stock watch update.
Haven't had one of those in a while.
And so we're getting back to our roots.
We're like, you're right.
You guys are actually right here. We need to call out some of the guys that are still of those in a while. And so we're getting back to our roots. We're like, you're right. You guys are actually right here.
We need to call out some of the guys that are still playing well in college football.
Some guys are going up the board, down the board, and everything in between.
Connor, how are you doing today, my friend?
I'm good, man.
I was laughing because I sent out the tweet to kind of solicit.
You know, I love getting the draft community stock up guys because there's so much going
on at every level of college football this time of year.
And you texted me and you're like, I almost forgot our own schedule.
You were like, wait, aren't we doing a mock draft today? And I thought we were doing a mock draft.
The whole week I've been watching tape for Stockwatch, guys. And I was definitely wrong.
But you were nice enough to be like, yeah, we'll do a Stockwatch. It's just, man, it's that time
of year. What can you really say it's um but i
am excited for this because i've i've enjoyed usually when the calendar turns to november
i start to watch new players again after we end summer scouting in august september and october
is so nfl fantasy heavy across the board for you for sure like the job that you're doing with nbc
you do a lot of
fantasy right I did I did some college this year then that's surprisingly made the playoffs like
it was just like our pets heads were falling off for two months and now I am fully back into the
grinding the tape mode so I have a lot of names I'm excited to talk about today even though I had
the show schedule wrong I'm sorry everyone see I wasn't gonna say that because now people are
gonna be mad they could be like wait this could have been a mock draft well yes but you know what's funny the mock draft now i'm
hyping it up like this is the build-up now and it's coming right and it's the mock we're really
close like i could smell it in the air it's true yeah so just the rock gif like as as dramatic as
you possibly can just yeah so there. There's the mock draft.
It's close.
It's close, folks.
We're going to get to it very, very quickly next week,
even so you guys can look forward to that.
Before we dig into sort of these prospects,
you were talking about really having the time to sort of get back into the tape
and dive back into the tape.
I did want to update everybody and let everybody know that.
So we're recording this on a Thursday,
and this will be released Thursday evening.
My plan as of right now is to finish out a lot of, well, I've been doing the rechecks on all the guys who watch for summer scouting.
And then of course the players that we don't have on the big board over at pff.com and
in the mock draft simulator.
So for every position I've been sort of doing that going down the list.
I should be done by Friday, should get done with safeties by Friday or Saturday.
So I will update the entire big board, I believe right now in the mock draft simulator.
Just to give you guys an idea, there's I think like 180, 190 players on there.
When I update it on Saturday, not only will it have the updated ranking
in order of how I see these prospects
for how they've played this year,
it will have 275 players in there.
I think it's going to be right around 275,
which also means that seven rounds
will be unlocked on the Mock Draft Simulator.
So rejoice.
You will have more players to choose from.
I think I watched 100 new players,
almost 100 new players from last time I updated the big board so it's coming
folks i've read the tweets we have read the tweets we have seen the cries of the people
we are improving the mock draft simulator and we are unlocking seven rounds very very soon so
thinking talking about stuff that uh close enough you can smell it those seven round mocks baby
they're coming what do you think you're going to get to this year?
I mean, you're going to get to 500 players in the simulator, I feel like, right?
It'll be above 400, which will be the first time that I think we've got above 400 in a couple of years here.
Last year was my first year as lead draft analyst for PFF. And with it, I sort of had my process of how I evaluated prospects
and sort of the timeline throughout the football calendar, like how I did that. And normally I
could get to about a comfortable 200, 250 players that I went really in depth on. And that's what I
had done in previous seasons. But with PFF, kind of with the MDS, they wanted at least 300. So it
was a little bit of a different schedule. I wasn't't used to it i'm way more ahead of the curve this year
than what i was last year so shoot even when we get to january i think i'm gonna have the college
guys max and dalton uh help me out into fun yeah get in on the fun and get to get more names in the
in the mds as well so i think we're gonna get to 400 plus this going to be, it's going to make the experience pretty awesome for you guys.
So if you don't have a PFF plus subscription,
you should absolutely go get one.
So you can unlock that full seven round mock draft simulator.
Cause we're going to be working overtime to give you as many players as
possible on that bad boy.
Yeah.
I mean,
you and I have talked about this before this year,
we plan to do a lot of team centric mock drafts.
Yeah,
baby.
We'll get into rounds five six seven on and
on i don't know how many people are doing that but we're gonna be we're gonna be well equipped
for it i can't wait man but we start on a little bit of a uh a lighter scale today yes yeah a little
bit of a lighter scale we'll do what you guys are used to with these stock watch episodes we'll give
you some stock up players some stock down players which you have a couple since i've been going through a lot of these updates for these position rankings. I do have
some guys I've been a little bit disappointed in and I kind of want to give some context to.
We'll give you a new name that you have not heard yet on this show. And then we will also give you
a player who started the season as a day three projection that we think has a shot at the top
50. So maybe not first round, you know, first round,
all sorts of like value and talk like that comes into it, but just overall top 50 talents,
somebody that could be in that group when it is all said and done. So Connor, I will start with
you. Do you want to just start with the general stock up or do you want to get into one of those
topics? No, let's start with stock up. Cause they, you know, those are a little bit more,
um, I don't know if generics the right right wording but i think the stakes get raised when you have a guy go from a day three to top 50
and even the new name prospect is where i really i put on my hard hat for that one and i go into
the fcs dude and hell yeah brother i'm like let's do it yeah you're watching some uh shoddy camera
work at times on on the tape but you know what actually it's gotten
a lot better over the years i want to i want to scale that back shout out to the whoever whatever
assistant is taping the games at that level you are you have upped your game and i see you and i
respect you stock up let's get back up uh a tick here i'm sure you notice senior bowl invites
accepted invites rolling in this week yes senior bowl and shrine bowl updates it's very exciting rolling in fast and furious we got some accepted invites
i'm gonna kick things off with a guy that i was not surprised to see him get a senior bowl invite
accept the invite and that is chase lunt uh the right tackle for yukon this is somebody who is
six foot eight 305 pounds so he's like a real skyscraper,
but not, not the most dense guy in the world, but at that weight, Trevor, it's really,
really impressive with how he moves. It's, I mean, when you're this big and you move that well,
you are always going to get the eyes of the NFL on you. And that's exactly what he's done. And
this is somebody that's really improved over his time
because he's a four-year starter.
So you go back and you watch that underclassman tape
and you look at him and you could see some warts
and development and strength issues
or just a young player really growing into the position.
And then you look at now the last two years for this guy
and being a staple on this Yukon offensive line,
being an anchor at right tackle,
being able to move in the run game,
getting very explosive into his pass sets.
It looks like he has good length,
which doesn't surprise you when a guy is six foot eight.
If he really gets a chance to recover after the season,
hit the weight room,
which is it's I'll admit it's a little tougher for guys to go through the
all-star game process.
That does take a week away from you training.
But if he can get into his training and go through this process
and, I don't know, 312 pounds and get even stronger
and keep those movement skills,
Chase Lund from UConn is going to have a big-time process.
And I think we're looking at him talked about
maybe even as a top 75 pick when all is said and done.
A lot of that will depend on, I think, getting into that all-star circuit
and going against top pass rushers and showing off what you can or can't do.
But he has positioned himself that way with excellent tape in 2024,
building off good tape in 2023.
So I have not watched him yet.
He is somebody who is – I got him on the watch list right after I had sort of moved on from,
okay, I rewatched a lot of the offensive tackles.
I watched a handful of new offensive tackles.
And then I was on to the other side of the ball.
I started doing interior defense, five and edge rushers when somebody put him on my radar.
So he is on my watch list, but I will, I will get him in there.
I will be sure to get him in there for the next big board update.
So you guys can pick him in the mock draft simulator,
but he has been getting,
he has been getting some shout outs from a lot of people.
And you know,
when I think of,
when I think of him,
you know,
I think of another offensive lineman who I will get into the mock draft
simulator as well,
who I have not watched yet.
Have you watched Greg Zabel from?
Yes.
He was on my summer list.
I,
I don't think I got to his tape when we did that episode,
but he was on my watch list to keep going throughout summer.
And it feels like they have an NFL caliber offensive line every single year.
Right, right.
So have you watched his 2024 stuff yet?
No, I have not watched his tape from this year.
No, that was just summer.
Okay, so I haven't either.
And he's somebody that I do want to talk about at some point.
If you guys out there who are watching the show have watched him,
we would love to hear your thoughts on him.
He's somebody that, again, I got to watch before Saturday
to make sure he's in the mock draft saving later
because he's another offensive lineman who is an early acceptancy.
Is that a word? Is that a term? Can you be that? I don't know.
He is someone who accepted an early senior bowl invite.
So we're already sort of stacking out the offensive line group there in Mobile. and those are the two guys that i think a lot of people are excited about
and a former stock up member of the show um charles grant right ah yes charles charles grant
is a another one that has an invite charles grant uh william Mary. If you missed it, he was on a previous stock up.
So the offensive linemen, the real lunch pail guys,
they're getting after it.
They're ready to compete.
You love to see it.
So he is interesting because he's a really good mover.
He's, if I remember correctly,
I don't know exactly what his weight was off the top of my head,
but I feel like he was a little bit lighter of a player.
Grant?
Yeah. What was he at? Yes of a player. Grant? Yeah.
What was he at?
Yes.
Okay.
Okay.
That's all right.
That's what I thought.
I was like,
I'm envisioning his tape and like watching him on tape.
And I was like,
I don't know,
maybe you'll surprise me.
It'll be like 310,
but he plays as somebody who was,
you know,
295,
300 pounds.
He's a little bit lighter.
People have,
so he plays offensive tackle for William and Mary,
just because I think he's the best offensive lineman they got.
But people have talked about him at center,
like going the Graham Barton route, you know?
So I wonder if we get some reps at center from him.
I wonder that too.
And I do think the interior is his best home.
But what's interesting is he,
and I believe Dane Brugler had had this i want to make sure i credit him
it's he's expected to come in with three five and five eighth inch arms isn't that very odd for a
guy that is maybe six three maybe 290 pounds with long arm it's a very unique body for charles
grant which also makes sense why they would be like all right
you're playing offensive tackle for us not only just a talent level yeah but a really good note
from Dane that shout out Dane because like I'll be real with you and sometimes you could tell on
tape sometimes you can't um when you see a guy listed 6'3 290 playing at William and Mary
it's exactly what you just said you're like oh, oh, he's a tackle. It's like a smaller baseball program.
The best kid is at shortstop,
but they get drafted
and they never play shortstop
in the big leagues.
They play second, third,
corner outfield, whatever it is.
Baseball scouting.
You think NFL draft scouting is weird.
Baseball scouting is fascinating.
That's another combo for another day.
Charles Grant, though.
Yeah, it is funny, Trevor.
He's stout and smaller
for an NFL offensive lineman
or expected NFL offensive lineman, but he has long arms.
So I think the baseball transition is actually a good one here
because I'm going to stay along the all-star circuit,
and I'm going to talk about a guy who accepted an invite
to the Shrine Bowl already, and this was a player that was,
it was perfect timing because I had him on the cornerback
watch list and then when it came out that he was one of the first um uh players to accept their
their shrine bowl invite it was like oh okay like i'll put them at the top of the list i want to
make sure that i get them in there because you know whoever goes to senior bowl in the shrine
bowl those guys galco and naggy they're talking the nfl a lot and so the nfl has some input on
oh yeah players are getting invited
because that's the purpose of the event, right?
The NFL wants to see these guys.
So when players are invited, especially the early invites,
the guys that they want to see there, I think it means a lot.
You definitely got to have that on your radar.
Zy Alexander is the player that I want to talk about here,
the cornerback from LSU.
And the reason why I say that the baseball talk is a good transition here is because
he has such an interesting background.
So he's been at LSU for the last two years, and I think he has played really well.
He played well last year, but he's playing, in my opinion, really well this year.
This is a zero-star cornerback, zero-star recruit coming out of high school, out of
the state of Louisiana.
In high school, he played quarterback. He played wide receiver, and he played free safety. So he
was all over the place, but he just was not a heavily recruited player. He got some offers here
and there, but I think sort of a little bit of this went into it. He also played baseball and
he was a leadoff hitter as an outfielder. They won a state championship on the baseball team as a sophomore, his sophomore year of high school. So this was somebody who
like had a pretty good shot at being a baseball player as well. But, you know, I read an interview
where he said, no, no, no. I want, I had always wanted to be football for me, but then I believe
it was his senior year of high school. He broke his collarbone and he said that southeast louisiana
was the only school to stick with him and keep his offer there so he ends up going to southeast
louisiana which is a much smaller school believe that i mean that's got to be a i actually should have looked this up where they are they in fcs school uh what are they they are
they're a d yeah they are an fc they're they're d1 fcs so this is an fcs school that he was playing
that or that he was playing at and he played well 2020 was his recruitment year so it was that
covet adjusted season remember for a handful of schools
that like said that they were going to play in the spring so he plays those six games for like
a spring season the next season he's an fcs all-american first team the year after that once
again a first team all-conference player starting all 13 games ends up transferring over to lsu
because it's like okay well now he's sort of owned that level of, showing that he probably should have got better offers out of high school.
But LSU, it's a different beast, right?
Going from Southeast Louisiana all the way up to LSU, that's a different story.
He's 6'1", 185 pounds, so you like the height, you like the length for him,
but he's a little bit more slender being 185.
Although I will say this, Connor, as I'm filling out the information for a lot of these guys,
they're kind of just smaller
I mean every player is just kind of smaller now it does feel that way linebackers are smaller
corners are smaller safeties are smaller edge rushers are smaller it's just a smaller game
it's so the percentiles will obviously tell you what the percentiles are when we talk about these
guys certainly when we get into draft season but I don't want to say they don't matter because they do,
but you have to adjust them a little bit.
Like if you see a guy who's like, oh, eighth percentile,
maybe five, six years ago, you'd say to yourself,
that player's never going to make it in the NFL.
Now you have to go, well, I mean, there's still a chance they make it in the NFL.
It's just not as ideal.
Yeah. No, I think that's fair.
It is a fine line.
It is a really fine line.
Because sometimes I look at how some teams are built.
And I know this is like a layup example or maybe too chalky,
but look at how the Detroit Lions built their offensive line.
Like, it's no coincidence that the Lions line up most weeks
and just absolutely punch you in the mouth.
That is a big, old-school offensive line. Like it's no coincidence that the Lions line up most weeks and just absolutely punch you in the mouth.
That is a big old school offensive line.
And I think that or even the guy that centers their defense that they just paid in a lean McNeil, like a lean McNeil, a lean McNeil is a house.
And you read her, right?
I mean, like they just went towards the beef.
Right. So it's one I struggle with personally as i go through prospects i traditionally and you
know this working with me long enough i traditionally don't love small wide receivers
and and just smaller players in general i think it's it's changed linebacker has really really
changed i think corner has even changed because at corner you just got to be such a good athlete
because the rules are so against you being physical more often than not right but yeah you're right it's a really weird
fine line like how many like think about 20 years ago look at devon achan on the dolphins right now
he'd maybe be viewed when he came into the league as this third down back on his kick return day
kick really like kick return kick returner kick really like kick kick returner
legitimately i don't even know third round back because pass protection on third downs in the
nfl back then was just a different beast right and now he's one of the more exciting
offensive playmakers he's listed 5 9 188 yeah so you're right it's it's one i struggle with
because it's something you don't want to make a habit of but naturally heights and weights are
getting smaller in a lot of areas of football just worth noting i think it's something you don't want to make a habit of, but naturally heights and weights are getting smaller in a lot of areas of
football.
Just worth noting.
I think it's something worth noting.
I think it's a longer,
I do think it's a longer combo though.
I think we'll get into it once we get into the official measurements for like
the combine and the senior bowl and everything,
we'll get to talk about these players.
And I think we'll not only get to tell you guys some of the official
measurements on all of these guys,
but also what we think it means
exactly because for some players it means more than others you know depending on your play style
and all that kinds of stuff anyways getting back to zio alexander so he plays for lsu last year i
think he played in eight games and he tours acl so he was recovering from acl surgery comes in this
year i have really enjoyed this player i mean this was somebody that I was right in the middle
of watching a bunch of corners that you know we're gonna be day three players you know so I'm
watching a lot of these guys I'm watching and then I pop out on Alexander's tape and I was like hold
on here I think we got something like I I am a fan of Zy Alexander I think that he is a day two type
of a corner and the reason why is because I think he plays the position extremely well.
Is he the fastest guy out there?
Is he the most explosive?
Does he have the oiliest hips?
You want me to say that?
We'll say that a couple of times throughout the off season.
But it's when you talk about corners, turning your hips, flipping your hips smoothly and
being able to continue to accelerate like that is an important, like for an edge rusher,
you can comp it to that, right?
We talk about edge rushers.
Are you able to continue to gain speed when you go up the arc that's bend that's flexibility
that's rare athleticism for corners it's sort of that same way can you maintain your speed and can
you stop and start with quickness and precision and acceleration explosiveness when your hips are
flipping so that's a big part of playing the quarterback position and just covering in general. So he's not overly impressive in those
two athletic areas, but damn, he makes up for it by knowing how to play this position. I mean,
I think that the punch timing in press is fantastic. I think the footwork, it's not
perfectly clean, but I think it's good enough. This is somebody who understands how wide receivers like to win against
him and he takes away what they want to do. He is great when it comes to knowing how to use leverage
to his advantage inside and outside shades, understanding and anticipating where these guys
are going, always getting his hands up in the throwing windows and disrupting wide receivers
throughout the routes, but not committing a lot of penalties.
He's got a ton of interceptions.
He's got 14 interceptions and a forcing completion percentage above 10% in each of the last four straight seasons.
So he has a ton of experience in that regard, getting his hands on the football.
I think the way that he approaches press man situations,
which that's the type of corner I think that we're talking about here,
a guy who can line up on the line of scrimmage,
go straight up right against the other team's best receiver,
stare at him, know how to not get fooled,
know how to anticipate things really well,
and yield a very low completion percentage against,
which we see a pretty good coverage grade
from him this season.
To me, if you can get over the fact
that he is a little bit limited athletically,
the guy plays the position so well. Is he going to be a CB1 in the NFL? I don't know,
but I feel like he could be a fantastic CB2 for you in a press man system where you're playing
a lot more man coverage and you're playing your corners up towards the live scrimmage.
So Zia Alexander from LSU, really excited to get to see him in person at the Shrine Bowl because I am a big fan of his game.
He reminds me of a former Shrine Bowl player who's having a pretty dang good start to his NFL career in Renardo Green.
Renardo Green was somebody that Florida State and the San Francisco 49ers now line up in press man coverage
because that is exactly what he is good at and he does his job very, very well.
And we're seeing that at the nfl level too so that's the type of player that he reminds me of and green wasn't extra like overly
athletic he was gonna wow you as an athlete the combine showed us that as well but he understands
how to play that type of the position so well that it's still going to be successful at the
nfl level so zy alexander he's a guy who's on that archetype, in my opinion. Great shout. Obviously an underrated name, a name I'm excited to watch.
I think Corner is the group I am the most behind on, I would say.
And I watched a lot of them this summer.
I mean, we went through, felt like a million Corners.
I think I had at least 15 ranked from the summer.
I had 17.
And I think after this week, I will have like 39.
That's completely insane.
But to be fair, a little draft history.
I want to see how many corners were drafted last year.
I wanted to say, I believe it's wide receiver and cornerback
that are the two most drafted positions every single year.
That would be right.
I mean, wide receiver, we're living in the days of over 30 go right and then you look at because there's so many swiss army knife guys
but you're getting counting safeties you know you can get up to 60 dbs so yeah same for corner um
crazy so yeah definitely a guy i'm excited to get eyes on and good for him to get that shrine
invite because that's a real that's a real climb up to the top for that guy i mean you
look at what's alexander's done you brought it you brought it up like he gets to southeastern
louisiana it's a really weird start to his career because of covid to transfer up to lsu i mean
that's that's i think it says a lot about his character in my opinion so all right so my next
one this is not a new the last two guys we've talked about are new names. This is somebody that deserves love on this show.
And that's Travion Henderson, the running back.
Your boy.
One of the running backs at Ohio State.
What a ride it's been for Travion Henderson.
I mean, this is somebody on summer scouting two years ago.
I thought could be the best running back in the class.
I think I had him number one.
And he was coming off that year where the freshman year was great.
The second year he had the foot injury and it was not great.
And I was like, I bet on the freshman year tape.
I'll go get back to that form.
And to be honest with you, his junior year,
it was kind of somewhere in between.
He didn't look like the guy from his freshman year,
but he looked better than the guy his sophomore year.
Still a really good player.
Surprised me personally when he went back to school.
Especially with Judkins going there.
They get Judkins, and let me be the first to say this,
might be the best thing that could happen to Travion Henderson,
Judkins being there.
Because this is the best version I have seen of Travion Henderson
either since that freshman year or in general to keep
in mind he's averaging seven and a half yards a carry right now and that freshman year that
was marvelous he had over 1200 yards he was averaging six and a half and his receiving I
think you know just because they got a lot of mouths to feed. It's not crazy this year. It's 12 catches for 86 yards.
But when you watch the tape, Trevor, this is really good tape for him.
He everybody listening and I'll go through it anyway.
Probably knows like this is a pretty unique runner because how explosive he is.
He gets the ball and his ability to get to the second level from the handoff is truly
like you put him in a cannon and fired away and he has this change of
direction that if safety's guessed the wrong way he can take the run to the sideline and not just
win the foot race like it's not even close most of the time and i've always loved the third level
for an explosive fast runner he does run hard he'll throw a stiff arm. He'll try to run through you.
But why Travion Henderson is such a great prospect right now is he is phenomenal in pass protection. And I'm not talking about a guy that just goes in there and gets in the way.
Turn on the tape. I did a breakdown for him for NBC this week. And he had a play against Penn
State where Penn State has a linebacker on a delayed blitz. And Penn State
is clearly rushing five against a five-man protection of Ohio State just on the offensive
line. They don't have a tight end or a jumbo set going. And that linebacker is coming on a delayed
blitz. So he's the sixth guy. Travion Henderson is in the backfield. So if he does not pick up
that delayed linebacker pre-snap, this guy is going to kill the
play. He sees him. He slides over to the gap. The delayed linebacker comes through. It's a five-man
protection against the other five. They're doing a good job, the offensive line. They're blocking
their assignments. He not only stays square, sinks his legs, and this guy has a lot of strength in
his legs, and that's where he gets this from. He knocks this dude out. Like he drops him and the quarterbacks sits back there,
gets to his second or third read, makes the throw big play. He's not getting to that read of Travion
doesn't pass protect in that way. And I think there's a lot of examples like that on tape.
And it's why they can keep them on the field in the past game. You watch the tape against Purdue.
Yeah, they're up big. It's the fourth fourth quarter they motion him out from the backfield they get him out wide isolated he runs a double move that looks like a wide receivers route and he catches the
deep ball this is a dude that he's going to be the lightning to someone's backfield that has the
thunder and that to me is really really exciting because i think that's the way a lot of the nfl
wants to trend right now even you even watch the ra Ravens, Derek Henry is Derek Henry, but justice
Hill is involved in their offense. They're not just sitting back there and going, Derek Henry's
on the field every play. So Ohio state and Henderson have both learned, let's not run this
guy into the ground. And we will have one of the most efficient running backs in the entire country.
I think that can be kind of his career arc in the NFL.
Maybe the way the Lions use Gibbs, although he's bigger than Gibbs,
but just to keep his legs fresh.
He's a three-down player.
I've been so impressed with what he's been able to do.
Going back, obviously, was a really good move for him,
and he's right back in the conversation to be a top 60 pick now again.
Dude, this is Kobe King that he's stoning.
I found the play that you're talking about too and again watching linebackers uh we'll sort of
get to the fact that i think this is a down linebacker class but kobe king is one of those
guys who's like okay you you do what nfl linebackers do you know like you're big enough
like from a program yeah absolutely like i don't know if he's gonna be a i don't know if he's gonna be like a major difference maker type of linebacker
but like an lb2 lb3 type of a player like he brings you the size he brings you the power
uh he's got that natural rip move when he's past rushing like he's i think he's a good linebacker
prospect and he's got some beef to him pretty sure kobe king's like well above 250 uh or right
around 250 and treyvon henderson i just watched that play
stonewalls this dude you are right that's a that's a good play by him especially uh giving context to
who he is going up against so it's a good shout out you know i know i think a lot of people who
are listening to this show be like man we've heard about trevion henderson so much but i like the
fact that you are continuing to bring his name up because you're in a running back class that
running back is often just what have you done for me lately anyways right we got action genti at the top we've got quinshawn judkins
we've got omari and hampton we've got caleb john um we got caleb johnson who's sort of like the
darling right he's kind of been the big riser you know he could be the rb2 type of a back from
iowa all this year's estimate who a caleb johnson yeah everyone everyone loves him everyone loves
him and and for good reason he's
been awesome i'm not saying he's estimated as a player i'm saying it's the same fuel
like he's got that kind of like everyone's like you're in a room and you're like man like you
see like travion henderson play and like you see a marion hampton and then there's the guy in the
corner and he's like yeah have you have you saying you saying you get in a room you've seen caleb johnson
everyone's like what that's what it's like it's all he's great he's awesome man he he is awesome
you saying getting in a room made me think like oh you're just at a party or something yeah by
the drink station whatever you're just making small talk with somebody hey how are you i'm
doing good a couple moments of silence you go hey you see caleb johnson and they just light up and like dude yeah
man i mean the room erupts like somebody is like talking to a girl on the other side of the bar
and they're like hold on and she's standing there and she's like this guy's serious yeah it's like
that by the way that's what going out of the senior bowl is like except there are
no women so am i wrong that's not true we're growing the game no no no there are phenomenal
women working in the sport i'm saying like out and about in the nightlife yeah for the young
fellas married man over here the game is long behind me but the
young fellas out there they're just talking day three day two prospects dude i was about to jump
in and be like yeah she you know the guy who's like hold on wait a second goes talk caleb johnson
then she goes wait a second you guys talk about caleb johnson and then you know starts to give
you the force miss tackles averages because she's a pff plus subscriber very obviously right and you get owned you get owned at beats you're standing there pantsed yeah and you get you get mansplained
except you're the man yes which honestly good for her oh how the turntables yes much needed
in this economy so i need i actually need the chat uh i need the people, the addicts, to let us know.
Is Caleb Johnson the new Audra Gastame?
Because it's a sacred title here on the podcast.
Or is it too mainstream?
Is Caleb Johnson a little too mainstream?
You might be right.
He might have been a boom too early.
We did the estimate thing pretty late.
We did.
It's November.
By the way, on Fantasy Football Happy Hour, like almost every day.
Matthew Barry calls this podcast a different name.
Because it estimates relevant now because he had a lot of carries the Broncos.
He's going to take over the backfield, blah, blah, blah.
You know the deal.
And and he's like, you know, on the on the pro football exchange podcast that they said, they said, estimate this would happen.
And I just sit there like,
yep,
close enough.
And then the next day it's like the NFL stock watch pod.
Every day.
It's a different name.
It's a different name.
Matthew,
Barry,
the goat just want to be very clear.
Oh,
I get to be,
I get to,
I get to meet him for the first time at your wedding.
And you guys sat together. He was, I know it the first time at your wedding. You guys sat together.
I know.
It was awesome.
It was awesome.
Unbelievable. He's the man.
He can call our podcast whatever the hell he wants to, to be honest with you.
I'll be cool with it.
Well, yeah, I let him.
I don't even correct him.
No, no, no, no.
I just sit there.
All pub is good.
All pub is good.
Nailed it.
So, hey, for my next trick, I i'm gonna pull a linebacker out of this
crappy linebacker class uh no for stock up i'll combine these two guys because in all seriousness
you know we went into summer scouting and i think we went through the off-ball linebacker group and
we were sort of searching for guys who could really be um standout players so if i'm going
to be honest with you my updated rankings for linebackers is much different
than what I had in summer scouting.
Actually, I have my summer scouting list here.
My summer scouting rankings for linebackers was Ganny Stutzman at one, Harold Perkins
at two, Lander Barden at three, Jack Kaiser at four, Barrett Carter at five.
So that was my off-ball linebacker group right now.
Just to give you guys a little sneak preview
of the update of the big board.
Right now, my off-ball linebacker top five is
Jihad Campbell from Alabama at one,
Chris Paul Jr. from Ole Miss at two,
Jeffrey Bassa from Oregon at number three,
Barrett Carter's at four, and Deontay Lawson's at five.
Wow, that is flipped up, not upside down,
but that is really turned on its head.
We have one similar name in my top five
than what we had going into summer scouting.
And two of the guys that I want to talk about
are Chris Paul Jr. and Deontay Lawson,
because I just want to bring them to the table
because they're playing some really good football.
I'll start with Chris Paul Jr.,
who is not the NBA player Chris chris paul's son just so
everybody knows that or the offensive lineman that is the brother of patrick paul that came out of um
oh this is gonna drive me nuts they play houston tulsa oh yes oh chris paul from tulsa he was
drafted by the commanders in the seventh round three years ago. You're right.
Also not a three-point shooter.
I mean, don't take that away.
Actually, I don't know that for a fact.
You've never seen him boot.
He might very well be a three-point shooter.
Where were you when he was shooting in the gym?
I was nowhere to be found.
You were on the pro football stock watch podcast.
Yes, I was on the NFL exchange center.
Oh, boy.
You're hit on the stock market.
It didn't work, my friend.
Chris Paul Jr. is pretty good.
And by pretty good, I mean he is the highest graded off-ball linebacker
that we have at Pro Football Focus this season.
His grades are pretty diverse, too.
90.9 overall grade, 88.2 run defense grade,
80.6 pass rush grade, and a 90.4 coverage grade.
I think this player is really good.
I really do.
Especially for me having him LB2 in this class.
LB2 in this class doesn't mean maybe as much as it has in other classes.
I think Jihad Campbell might be my only linebacker that I have in my top 50,
but I'm going to let you know, if Chris Paul Jr. is not in the top 50, he's a top 75 guy for me.
It's not like we're only getting like one linebacker in the top 100. I don't think it's
that bad. Especially, I don't think Chris Paul Jr. is that bad. I think he's going to anchor
that group a little bit or elevate that group, I should say, a little bit more. He's a little
undersized. He's 6'1", 235 pounds, so that's 30th percentile, 29th percentile. But as we know, the game's getting faster. You're trying to get speed
on the field, especially at the linebacker position. You want to make sure that these
guys can defend the run, but you've got to be able to get guys who are fleet of foot
and can move from sideline to sideline and cover players. Chris Paul Jr., to me,
is a really good combination of those things. Jihad Campbell's above him because Jihad Campbell's
6'3", 240 pounds. He could be like a pseudo edge rusher for you. He's got some good
clicking close ability when it comes to coverage. He doesn't quite have the coverage instincts yet,
but he's got the body type to be able to get a lot of forcing completions. That's why he's number
one. But there are so many things that Chris Paul Jr. does really well. He played his first three
seasons while he was at Arkansas and then transferred over to Ole Miss for this season here. He played running back and linebacker in high school. So he's got that
feel for, okay, I've been on both sides of the trenches here. I know how these running backs
work. I know how these guys operate. I think he is a very natural mover, a smooth mover,
an explosive mover when it comes to downhill, retreating, or side to side. Because Connor,
that is not always a guarantee. Sometimes you will watch these linebackers
and they can trigger downhill fast,
but retreating, getting back into coverage,
and even sometimes going to the sideline,
it's not the same type of explosiveness.
I think he is a good athlete,
whatever you are asking him to do.
He's got good pursuit speed versus outside zone plays.
I think he can sniff those out very, very well.
He's something I love about him.
He is consistently square to the ball carriers
when it comes to tackles.
And I think that's also a big movement plus
type of thing for him,
is that when he is reading where the ball carrier is going,
whether it's an inside zone,
or let's say like it's a mid zone or an outside zone
type of a thing, maybe an off tackle run.
He doesn't have
to totally turn his shoulders to run and go get you. Obviously, sometimes if it's a toss play or
a big time outside run play, yeah, you got to beat him to the sideline. You got to open it up and you
got to get there. But anything short of that, he can shuffle with you so quickly that when you get
up to where he is with the line of scrimmage, boom, he's putting his shoulder right in you and he is square to the ball carrier. That means good tackling. It's sound
tackling and those movement skills, again, showing up as a plus. I think you play Will
Linebacker in a 4-3. I think you play inside linebacker in a 3-4. I think he has a lot of
scheme versatility with where he could go. I wish he was a little bit bigger. I do. Sometimes the
tape shows me that, but the tackling is so sound and he's got such a pop when he hits you. It's not
that big of a weakness, but for me, I think it's just the big areas where I think that there's a
little bit of detractors for him. Cause I actually like his linebacker tape more than I like Jihad
Campbell's tape. Campbell is just more of the athlete and the prototype of a build that you sort of bet on here.
And if Chris Paul Jr. was a little bit bigger and a little bit longer,
man, we'd be talking about a player who'd be worth probably a top 50 selection
and maybe even a late first round selection because I think how he plays the position is that good.
So he is somebody who I definitely wanted to shout out.
The way you describe him is almost like a variant of Barrett Carter, right?
This compact, and he seems a little bigger.
I mean, Carter might not be six feet tall.
And I know Chris Paul is listed 6'1",
but definitely that smaller, explosive athlete.
And you'll have to have the most important part.
His nickname is Pooh, which is just P-O-O-H, not like poop, P-O-O.
Just letting you know.
He wasn't ready, huh?
All right, I'll go.
I love that you spent like seven minutes with a great breakdown.
And the best part is his nickname is Pooh.
And that's just a little caveat I put on.
Do you have another stock up guy?
No, those are my two stock ups, and then I have the big heavy hitters.
Okay, let me shout out Deontay Lawson too,
because I think that Lawson from Alabama, the linebacker,
I could just package those two guys in.
Those are my two favorite linebackers that I've watched,
just like big time risers.
Because Lawson, there were things that I liked of him this summer but there were too many
things that I didn't I didn't think that he played physical enough I didn't think the anticipation
was there it felt like he was second guessing and the fact that he is you know six foot two
230 pounds so he doesn't have a ton of extra weight on him either with him second guessing
and being a little bit more hesitant and just not anticipating, not playing with enough confidence. You saw him sort of get run over. He didn't take out
blocks really well. He wasn't really where he needed to be in coverage. He looks like a much
improved player this year. He is still undersized for the position, but the pre-snap communication
is constant. The hand usage to get off blocks and to stay clean, much better this year. The
punch at contact and the pop at contact, again, much better
because he's got that quick explosive first step to him
that he's actually generating into speed to power
when he's taking on pulling guards, when he's taking on lead blockers,
or when he's bringing down the ball carrier.
So he's got that high tackle percentage, which I've really enjoyed him,
seeing him improve this year. He's just so much more of a confident player. He's a little bit smaller. Again, I don't know how much he's going to high tackle percentage, which I've really enjoyed him, seeing him improve this year.
He's just so much more of a confident player.
He's a little bit smaller.
Again, I don't know how much he's going to be for everybody,
but coming from that Alabama system, he's a really good communicator.
And I think that in a down linebacker class,
you're going to hear a lot more people go,
okay, well, I can work with this guy.
You know, like this guy understands the game of football
and the leap that I think he took in 2024 to get into the back end of my top five.
I just wanted to make sure that I shouted out Deontay Lawson as well.
Do you have Lawson thoughts?
Because if not, I got to read a word from our sponsor before we get to the next segment.
No, I don't have Lawson thoughts, but I do have a ad break uncrossable at my desk
because it's been that kind of day.
Wow.
Where you're just like, you're just running, running, running.
And I was like, this will do mid pod.
You should be on the Denver Broncos when you're putting up numbers like that.
The NFL goes through millions of these.
Denver Broncos, number one, uncrustable as eaten team in the NFL.
Who do you think the number one player on their roster has the most responsibility for that?
It's got to be Bo Nix.
Just hammering him.
No.
Every hour.
It cannot be a quarterback.
It has to be one of the
big boys now he's putting him down all right fair enough no it's s it's quinn minors no it's
absolutely this is the easiest answer of all time yeah all right i'm done or is it zach allen and
that's what's powering i mean zach allen has been a demon this year an absolute demon this year
yeah all right um speaking of incrustables it has nothing to do with what we're about to talk about A demon this year. An absolute demon this year. All right.
Speaking of Uncrustables,
it has nothing to do with what we're about to talk about.
Best part about football season, right, folks?
Checking out the postgame stats.
Which wide receiver scored more than two touchdowns?
Which quarterback threw for more than 350 yards?
Which offensive lineman on the Broncos ate the most Uncrustables before and during the game at halftime?
Although you can't bet on that,
I think you probably should be able to.

Bengals-Chargers.
We get T. Higgins.
Looks like we're getting T. Higgins back.
Obviously, Jamar Chase is coming off of a monster game, but it's the Chargers. We get T. Higgins. Looks like we're getting T. Higgins back. Obviously, Jamar Chase is coming off of a monster game,
but it's the Chargers. Number one defense
in the NFL statistically.
If you think that one side or the other is going to
break the trend, whether the Bengals
are still going to have success or whether the Chargers
are going to slow them down, check that matchup

We hit stock up.
What do we hit next?
I think we go with the,
I think we save the day three to top 50 for the end
because I feel like that's the climax of the show.
All right.
That's a big deal.
Like saying a guy's going to go in the top 50
after being a day three guy.
It is a big deal.
It is a big deal.
And I'm excited to talk about the dude
that we're going to talk about
for my side of things.
For your side of things, I don't care.
I hope you don't bring someone to the table
that you're like,
I'm going to kind of sleepwalk
through this one today.
This guy's cheeks,
but we said that we'd fill out the topic,
so I got to do it.
This guy sucks.
New name prospect who doesn't suck.
Shonderek Powell,
running back from central Arkansas.
Yeah.
You like that folks?
Never heard of him.
Yeah.
Well,
he's going absolutely nuclear in the ultimate grading system.
Shondarek Powell already this year.
And there aren't a lot of guys in the country that could say this has over
1200 rushing yards.
He is averaging 8.2 yards per carry literally when
you have 0.2 when you hand shinderic powell the ball does he think he's genti you i mean he's
really like the next thing it's really him genti um there's there's like two other guys that are
kind of interesting in that regard so i watched central this is like actually like a sick not a sick thing
to admit because if you're here listening to this you're you're just as sick as us i watched a lot
of fcs smaller school running back you're sick this week you think i'm sick you're sick you're
listening to the podcast of people being sick right that's a fair point and this i thought
this guy was the best one and all he's 5 9 180 which you kind
of catch on to a trend with these schools that these guys are all insanely talented they were
probably just really small as recruits so instead of being you know 5 11 200 pounds ready to roll
through the sec they are undersized guys that go to these smaller schools and still have the talent and
that's shinderic powell who i mean literally is practically averaging a first yard per carry and
what's nuts is trevor last year across 136 carries he averaged seven and a half yards per carry so
this is just what he does at this level of competition this he is a varsity player playing
against the jv right now now what i like
about him as an nfl player because do i think he's going to average eight yards carry in the nfl no
of course obviously of course he is that's scouting that's scouting that's scouting he did
learn to scout and you'll get players like this he did it in college he's obviously going to do
the exact same thing in the nfl literally analytics small but incredibly shifty with outside bursts it's i know this is
a little bit you know too easy but like that you get the tarik cohen vibes where you watch him and
you're like man he's just making everybody miss at this level at that size it's his third year
in a row with over a thousand russian yards So he has quite the resume of tape at this point, and he's done it now at two different schools because in 2021, he started his career for the North, North Alabama.
In 2022, he went over 1500 yards for North Alabama, and now he's with Central Arkansas, where he's been a back to back thousand yard back there. So this is somebody who has a long, long resume of tape where I think he finds an impact in the NFL.
If he can crack a roster is his ability in the receiving game in that short area screen dump off game because they love doing the, you know, almost like Jalen Warren thing to him where they snap it and they know
they're it's like a design dump off he just kind of fades turns around and they flick the ball to
him and now he gets lost in between the linemen going down the field and he's hard to find and
he's super quick and he you develop more space when you run that kind of play for him so Shenderick
Powell deserves a shout because this fella has now put three years out
of dominating his level of competition. And I really hope he gets a shot throughout this process.
That's a fantastic shout out. I pulled his tape up really quick and I watched three plays. I'm in,
you know, I watched three key plays of him and I'm absolutely in. He better be getting some sort
of all-star invite because I want to see him at one'm absolutely in. He better be getting some sort of all-star invite
because I want to see him at one of those locations.
That would be a lot of fun to get to see him
against a better competition.
So that's a very good shout out by you.
For my new name.
I will row to the Hula Bowl if they invite Shenderic Powell.
Do they still do the Hula Bowl?
No, that's why it was kind of a really soft offer from me.
Okay.
Like if I was going to row all the way from new york to hawaii because
shinderrick powell got invited we'd have a great youtube channel the content would be amazing
what would we like live stream me sailing to the hula bowl have you seen the the guy on tick tock
who is like where did where did he sail to i think he sailed across the atlantic is he an actual like sea captain i hope
uh no he's some random youtuber who bought a lamborghini and then he just decided to do that
no i'm kidding i mean you never know in this day and age no it is it's somebody who it's somebody
who is like a you know a nautical you know human being a not a nautical ball knower and uh boat knower and they were going like all
the way across the atlantic but they had signal like he had wi-fi obviously like he had something
set up and via satellite to get internet and he posts on tiktok all the time he'd be like
yo it's day 63 and me like sailing across the atlantic or whatever and you gotta ration your
food in that scenario oh yeah well i mean
you can't just like oh i'm really hungry i'm gonna eat 20 of the food but also i'm pretty sure i'm
pretty sure he was like spearfishing oh so this guy's about that life yes this is like i i i owe
you an apology i was not familiar yes no no this is like once again this is a nautical knower yeah yeah like he finds a way
wow anyways that could have been you for the channel you could have been going live at 9am
eastern time every day with an update i wouldn't rule it out not this year but and i'm not actually
rowing to the hula ball but like but like i've talked about this for a long time buying a boat
and i'm really not joking i really do want to find a way to make
this happen i really i'm really not joking i want a boat i really do want a boat and i really want
a boat for the for the show sure what and the boat like the name is the easiest of all time like just
the sex addicts no no no i'm not putting i'm not putting that on the side of our vessel.
We're not doing that.
No.
Oh man.
It's the easiest name of all time.
We're going to get raided by the FBI.
I was going to say, talk about, talk about a bad look in public.
That's, that's definitely one.
That would be an interesting, you know, what would the boat be named?
I think the addicts would have to help us out with that one.
Anyways, there's no good transition in this.
You tried.
What we just talked about there.
Tried.
I got nothing.
Ole Miss cornerback.
This is a heavy Ole Miss show, I guess.
Ole Miss cornerback, Trey Amos.
He is the new name that I want to bring to the table.
He is having a fantastic year.
And when I watched his tape, I was like, damn.
I mean, we really do have somebody with some nfl potential on our hands so he's a redshirt senior he's had
quite the journey in college football he's six feet tall 195 pounds for a cornerback that is
61st percentile in both of those categories so again going back to the conversation that we said
about these guys seem to be getting a little bit smaller the nfl is okay with drafting you know
skinnier more slender corners This guy's got the size.
He's over six feet tall, I believe, at least that's what he is.
I think he's listed 6'1".
I think the official measurement I saw was around six foot.
He's above 290.
Sorry, not 290.
That'd be a big-ass corner.
190, 195, something like that.
So he is built well to play the position at the NFL level.
He was a three-star recruit coming out of high school. He played both
cornerback and quarterback. So played both sides of the ball. You love that. In track, this is what
I found very interesting about his high school background. 100 meter sprint, 200 meter sprint,
and long jump. He won the state championship as a long jumper in class two in the state of
Louisiana. So this dude is explosive and it shows up.
It shows up in his tape and it shows up in how he plays
and how controlled his movements are.
Committed to Louisiana Lafayette at a high school.
Played there for three years.
Transferred to Alabama.
Played one year last year at Alabama.
Only got one start out of 14 games.
Then he transferred this year to Ole Miss
and I think he has been shut down since.
I think he's a really good athlete.
I think that overall track background, whether it's sprinting uh whether he's got a basketball
background as well whether it's the jumps and the explosiveness that multi-sport background
you could tell you have a very fluid athlete on your hands and no matter what he is asked to do
at the cornerback position whether it's turn his hips and run you know play it off and close or
whatever it is he is he was around the so often. Almost every single time I watched
a throw even get close to him, he was ready. He was either in the hip pocket, getting his hand up,
getting a pass deflection, or he was disrupting the wide receiver in some way. The separation
percentage for him has been very low this season. He's got really good coverage instincts as well.
The active hands, the long arms, it's all there. I think he's got high force and completion rates, which you love to see.
He's got good strength to rip off a wide receiver block so he could help in the run game.
Sometimes I think, you know, despite the sprinter background, I don't know if he's going to like,
wow you with the top speed. I'm excited to see him at the combine because we'll see if that track
background clicks back in and we get to see a little bit of extra juice from him there but overall connor this is a player who i just feel wins at the position so
well is not really lacking in athleticism really in in almost any way maybe if you're talking about
covering nine routes all the way down the field 40 50 yards right maybe he might give up a little
bit of separation but it's not like that's happening too often instead he gets to play
press against you he gets to get his hands up he's pretty, he's pretty aggressive in what he does when it
comes to attacking the ball of the air. He reminds me of Terry and Arnold. He reminds me of that type
of a player who's got that play style, who just can be really sticky with you. He can have him,
he can get some interceptions. I can't remember how many interceptions he had off the top of my
head, but I really liked the way that he plays. I think he's sort of a total package type of a cornerback and a new name that not only is a new name like he's
going to be a new name within the top 100 and when the rankings come out maybe even within the top 75
we'll see where he lands when uh when we release the updated big board on on Saturday so Trey Amos
from Ole Miss like him a lot that's high praise and i mean this is someone who talk about this is kind
of the new era of prospect when you see a guy that played 34 games for louisiana then was on
alabama for a year and now as a starter for old miss with that kind of athletic background
you're just seeing these i don't want to call him a late breakout because he played a lot of
football for the rage occasions but at the end of the day, still a really, really interesting prospect that just needed more time.
And a great shout by you in a corner class that is looking very, very deep right now.
The more I watch, I'm going to be honest with you.
Like three, four weeks ago when I was sort of looking at the strengths and weaknesses of the class,
I hadn't watched a lot of new guys.
It was based off of a lot of what we had during summer scouting and i was like
i love this corner class you know outside of the top maybe five six guys kind of drops off a decent
amount right of all of a lot of the players that i have watched since then we got a lot more names
to talk about like we got a lot more names within the 50 to 125 ranking on
the big board that are are going to be guys who get shots at the nfl level so i think it's a little
bit deeper than what it was than what i thought it was a couple of weeks ago all right so
and we're not done talking corners either you got got one more in your back pocket. I do have one more in my back pocket.
That's quite impressive, my friend.
Okay, so this is the name, the day three name,
that now makes their way into the top 50.
This is the big buildup.
And I guess it's not that big because I did use him on the,
we did the mid-season all draft team,
and I used this player just to kind of show where his stock was going.
But I am very comfortable saying that Mike Green, the edge pass rusher from Marshall,
has, I mean, coming into this year, was probably like a seventh round player, legitimately.
I mean, he's only a redshirt sophomore.
Right.
This year.
Right. This year. Right.
So he needed a massive breakout for the draft to even be consideration after he transferred from Virginia Tech to Marshall.
And I think we're here, Trevor.
Like, I think this guy has played his way where, I mean,
would I be shocked if he goes back to college and enters the portal
and he's a big ticket and gets a massive NIL deal at one of the best programs in the country?
No, I wouldn't.
I wouldn't be shocked.
But I think he's.
He's been good enough that like he's going to receive some monster praise back from the NFL when those grades come back.
And if this is from day three to top 50, this might be from day three to the back end around one honestly i'm i'm
working on my first mock draft um in a while and i there's a chance that i find a landing spot for
him on the back end around one we'll see but about the player i mean this dude's piled up 13 sacks
this year already he is whooping ass he's explosive explosive. He's agile. He plays fast. And what
I like, I know he can get after the passer because he could turn the corner. He could
change direction. He can hit you with a lot of different moves, but at 245 pounds, I'll call it
right now. I think when he gets to the combine, I'll probably bulk up to about 250, about 245
pounds right now. He plays fast and with really good leverage against the run like there's
times where he arrives with hands under pads and pops guys that probably have 65 pounds on him so
this is someone to me that in an edge class that has felt a little it felt like the door opened
this year i think abdul carter has done himself a lot of favors, and we've talked about that already. He's starting to become that dude.
And Nick Skorton for Texas A&M has turned it on.
I know Pierce had turned the corner at some point.
Sawyer's been solid.
Kamen Rucker came back from injury and had some big performances.
Jelati and Tuimaloau, Landon Jackson.
There's a lot of names in this class.
But when I had even a small school guy like David Walker from Central Arkansas,
I had him like 15th over the summer.
I mean, I didn't watch Mike Green.
I was there to watch, right? This is somebody that has just exploded onto the scene for Marshall.
And quite frankly, if he declares for the draft it's like
he's what he has in baseball i keep going back to baseball and i don't know why very random
they call it helium when a prospect a baseball prospect is his stock is going up they call it
helium as baseball is really weird because you'll have like this high school kid you've never heard
of all of a sudden is wait wait hold on what do they call him helium no they call it like this guy has a lot of helium
huffing helium oh no definitely not that they're like yeah this guy's got helium right now
interesting yeah um it's a little maybe we need to start talking about that it's a little jargon
for you yeah it's it's a good it's a good term um so he's on helium
don't say that sorry sorry i'm just i'm still getting used to the phrase you know it is i don't
even know hopefully i used it correctly i'm just an amateur out here but anyway healing it no wait
no that's not it everybody's now thinks he's got red flags great uh mike green's awesome man he's
he's gonna be i think a lot of people are really going to he's going to become a fan favorite because everybody grasp onto the risers, right?
The guys that came out of nowhere.
But he's got so much talent as a pass rusher from an athletic standpoint and the way he's been able to play a hard nose game against the run.
If he didn't, you'd probably be like, OK, is he going to be this Will McDonald-ish kind of prospect where he's the situational pass rusher?
But he's been good enough against the run where that's what's going to kind of surface him even higher and higher.
I know we already shouted him out earlier in the show, but shout out Dan Brugler, the man.
He just updated his top 50, and Mike Green was in the top 50 for him.
There you go.
You were in good company i
didn't like him as much as it sounds like you you did but i when i say i didn't like him i don't
think he's yeah i don't think he's like a round four or five guy like sure sure i i felt like he
was more of a like a day two edge player and there are some people who believe he's more of a top 50
like fringe first round type of player like you were talking about maybe getting him in a mock draft and hey you know what maybe i'm a giant liar and
when we do the mock draft episode i'll be staring down the barrel of some team picking at the very
end of the first round i'll go ah let's get my green in here so who knows i uh he's cooper bb
all over again here we go yeah yeah you know hey while're here, my Bucky Irving takes look horrible.
Could not be me.
Shout out to me.
Could not be me.
Oh, man, it's even better that he went to the Bucks.
Oh, brother, I can't tell you how much better it is.
It makes it that much better.
Every time Bucky Irving forces literally just one missed
tackle an angel gets the swings i keep i kick my feet up and light the fattest cigar you've ever
seen he could get he could have gained three yards on that play it could have been it could
have been second and ten and he gains a measly two yards but if he makes a guy miss if he makes
two guys miss if he shrugs somebody off
oh it's over arnold schwarzenegger just straight giant cigar after winning mr olympia that's me
that's the visual all right before we get to my last perfect by the way before we get to my last

You can't just,
I know you don't just,
we need time.
Hand this one away.
No,
we need time.
We need time.
Oh,
now you got my wheel spinning here.
Well,
you can think about it.
Jack Sawyer is up there in consideration.
I think it's just the way his head fits into the helmet.
I'm serious.
Am I wrong?
I've never seen him put on a helmet.
I don't know.
When I turn on the tape, he's already got a helmet on.
He's got a big noggin.
All right.
Like, in a good way.
Like, it just looks like the guy.
No, that's meetnoggin.com.
Yeah. That's the meetnoggin award award jack sawyer's in the front runner he's the front runner now for the the m-e-a-t
fabric award winner of 2025 we're gonna have to have it we gotta have an award show before draft
weekend just to give out the award we actually should come up with like awards that are
specific to our ridiculous show you know what that's actually a
really good call out this this this dumb ass tanges that we just went on actually yielded a
good idea and that is an award show like two weeks before draft weekend of of of like accolades and
um what is it like superlatives and things like that yeah i would love to hear
from you guys that is a that is yeah it's a great idea i'll dress up i'll wear my bow tie and
everything for this dude we will i will rent a tuxedo i don't own a tuxedo i'll rent a tuxedo
for this show i'll put it's the only thing i'll put my wedding tux back on for there you go
literally i will there you go what'd you wear this to? My wedding and the NFL Stock Exchange Awards Show 2025.
Oh, what awards did you give out?
Oh, the meat fabric. an executive at your job that's asking you this question somehow holy hell
and matthew berry's there and he's like yeah on the well he's worse than me that's the problem
the pro exchange the pro exchange football currency pod that he did
you know he wore for that yeah you got to watch the award show and then they searched the on
youtube and that was my career on television you guys you guys i would love to actually hear from
you guys of what superlatives you think would be good superlatives both funny ones like that
are show topical and also ones that are serious that would make for a fun show because i
really do i think this is a good idea i would love to do this it'd be a really cool thing to start
for us this year anyways darian porter perhaps a recipient later this year of awards that we don't
even know yet cornerback from iowa state red shirt senior and connor you know red shirt senior it's
like all right what are you doing and why are you still around get a job you know so you know what it has a bad stigma attached to it i think that's unfair
it's like when you're doing a fantasy draft and the player has the red flag next to them and
you're like oh what did he do like his leg got amputated he broke his neck like i always pick
those players and then they're like sprained ankle out for four days i am a a fantasy draft
strategy that i have every single year is I pick the injured players.
I will probably pay good dividends.
I will pick Nick Chubb.
I will pick Jonathan Brooks.
Like no one else will.
Right.
These are the, I picked TJ Hawkinson in one of my leagues.
And guess what?
I was one game above 500 and now TJ Hawkinson's back and he's my tight end.
So.
Right.
And he gave your locker room like a new life.
Coming for the title.
And I also obviously have Tom Brady still on my bench because bench because i need you know the leadership there as we kind of
make the playoff run because he has the experience so darian porter cornerback from iowa state he is
just a shade under six foot three they got him large look hold on they got him listed at six
foot four 200 pounds on iowa state's. They are lying. They are liars.
That's a shame.
He is, on the verified measurements, he is a shade under 6'3".
So he's about 6'3", sorry, so he's about 6'2", 3'4", which is still great.
It is.
That's still 98th percentile, but it's not 6'4".
I'm unmoved.
All right, calm down.
I'm just kidding.
Calm down, hater.
And he's like 192 pounds.
And you see that on tape too.
He does not look like he is 200 pounds.
He looks like he is a little bit slimmer.
So he is closer to 190 than he is 200 pounds.
His background matters here.
He is a three-star wide receiver coming out of 2019 recruiting class.
He was also a standout in track.
And when I say a standout in track,
he won the state championship in the 400 meters in 2017 and 2019. He was the runner up in 2018.
So he almost three-peated the 400 meters in high school. His time of 4.699 in 2019 broke
the class 4A state record and was the first sub 47 second 400
in Iowa prep state history.
He also won a state title in 2019 in the 800.
And he won another state title in the 200.
My guy's award case
before he even left high school was robust.
So this is not just a guy who we go, oh yeah, Andy had a track background.
This is elite track background that we're talking about here from this dude.
Now, his career at Iowa State, also very interesting.
Because, for the most part, until the last couple of years, been pretty damn quiet.
In 2019, his first year with the program,
played in three games before he redshirted.
In 2020, he played 12 games,
basically just on special teams.
In 2021, he played 13 games,
basically just on special teams.
He was a wide receiver.
Remember, he was a wide receiver recruit.
He was a wide receiver for those three seasons
when he could not get on the field he switched over to cornerback in 2022 played in all 12 games
played a little bit more on the defensive side of the football but still a lot of special teams
last year in 2023 he also played 12 games and now he is a starter for them on the outside he's got
a ton of special teams experience very obviously he also has three blocked punts in his Iowa State
career but Connor the most important part about it is that now doesn't matter how long we had to wait
this kid can play right in my opinion this is the prospect that people want to cario davis to be
from arizona remember we talked about cario davis in in summer scouting he was the guy who was the
six foot four the 200 pound corner,
the Arizona corner. And I'm not saying that Takario Davis is terrible, but he is a stock
down candidate because it has been a rough year for him. And I think you're seeing him get exposed
in a lot of ways. I think his posture, a little bit too top heavy, he was a little bit too hunched
over in his shoulder. So he's a little too on his toes with his weight so when wide receivers sort of force him to move because when you're a corner
you got to be able to be very balanced your footwork has to be very precise it has to be
quick it has to be very grounded that your feet have to be under you quite literally because
you are asked to move against what you might anticipate very quickly because that's just the
nature of the position I feel like Davis has really struggled in that regard.
And that's sort of the give and take that you normally have with, okay, well, we love that this corner is taller, that he is longer, that he has that arm length.
But normally when you are taller and longer, that makes it more difficult for you to flip
your hips.
It makes it more difficult for you to stop and start on a dime.
And it makes it more difficult for you to just straight up be able to keep up with wide
receivers that quite frankly know where they are going because they know their own routes before the snap and you don't you're just trying to keep up with them and stay
hip to hip davis has struggled in that area um and uh uh i was i wanted to say pierce i don't
know why i said pierce damian porter or darian porter does not he is somebody who will when you
watch him line up at the line of scrimmage and press coverage it is compact as if he was five foot ten and instead he is almost six foot three i think the
footwork is clean and fast i think that he has got oily hips man we talked about that it's like a
word that sometimes you i mean he is somebody who can turn and immediately take off so well. And I think that track background really, really shows up there.
He's also a natural at the catch point.
He's got the long arms to be able to get up and disrupt at the catch point.
The wide receiver background obviously gives him a very good feel
for where and when the ball is coming.
So all of that builds into his background that is fantastic.
Obviously, as you would think, pulling offensive linemen,
lead blocking tight ends, they can block him decently well
just because he's more of a slender style.
The lack of reps at corner does sometimes show up
in maybe some whiffs that he might have in his punches
at the line of scrimmage and press.
So I think that those things could be a little bit mistimed.
But dude,
he reminds me, his potential reminds me so much of Zion McCollum. And McCollum was a fifth round pick from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who through the first half of this season was one of the best
cover corners in the NFL. And it took him a little bit of time to get in the program with the
Buccaneers and get things down. And when he became a starter this year, myself included, I was like, oh boy, here we go.
Okay, I don't know about this one.
You're just throwing sort of the crazy tall athlete guy
out there in the NFL and just praying it works.
Well, it did.
He was a very good corner and his athleticism was able to shine.
And that's the type of player that I think Darian Porter is.
And I think that this is somebody who, again,
if you are looking for a
taller, longer corner who is like above six foot two, who can play the way that your mind probably
wants them to play, this is the player that you bet on. I don't know if he's going to go top 50,
but damn, he's alluring enough. And especially when you see guys like Tariq Woolen and guys
like Zion McCollum who are making it work at that bigger size, like A.J. Terrell, somebody who also comes to mind,
who plays very similarly to the way that Porter does.
When you list off guys like that who have had success at the NFL level
being of that size, you've got to pay attention to it.
So Darian Porter, Iowa State,
a guy that I think has a chance to jump in the top 50.
I love it.
I'm a sucker for big corners, honestly, just often.
I just think that in this league, although it is funny,
it goes back to how we started the show,
that a lot of receivers are getting smaller and smaller for the most part,
where I wonder if it does kind of counteract
where now some smaller corners are able to play on the outside.
But for a long time, it was like, it just felt like,
hey, you're going to go out there and you're going to see
Nico Collins on the outside.
Hope you're not 5'9", right?
So it's tough out there sometimes.
So Porter, that's a really exciting pathway too.
A guy that's weighted and weighted and developed
and used the wide receiver background to his advantage,
to his corner skills.
That's the key.
I think, do you have any stock down guys i quick mention i'll quickly mention it because everybody listening to this podcast
is aware of this like it's been a tough three game stretch for carson beck and there's no way
around it it's it's hurt him it's hurt his stock yeah it doesn't help him that in a class that you
know i don't think is a great quarterback class,
but Cam Ward has played well this year.
Shitter Sanders has played well this year.
Jalen Milrow has been, you know, had his ups and downs like he does,
but he's had the highs.
He's had the ups.
He's had the highs required for the position that get you drafted very early.
Beck having these kinds of performances against Texas, Florida, and Ole Miss.
And I watched all three of those games this morning, you know, just to make sure the seven interceptions were like legit interceptions.
Again, one was tipped, but it was an awful throw that the only reason it was tipped is the receiver stretch looked like a slant and tipped it because he was extending the other six. I mean, triple
coverage, balls that are late, balls that are inaccurate. I don't mean to sit here and pile
on Carson Beck, but I didn't have a quarterback with a first round grade coming out of summer. balls that are late balls that are inaccurate i don't mean to sit here and pile on carson beck
but i didn't have a quarterback with a first round grade coming out of summer i thought he
was the guy that was positioned to have the best chance to go in the first round i don't even feel
close to that anymore and keep in mind beck's been at georgia for five years so i don't know
if there's a pathway for him to you know kind of regain and settle down elsewhere next year like
he's just he's probably just this third round quarterback prospect that didn't have
the year he was hoping for.
Yeah.
Carson Beck's much closer to a day three quarterback than a first round
quarterback.
Yes.
That's the perfect way to put it, Trevor.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I, I, I, you know, don't mean to pile on the guy.
It's been obviously enough for him tape wise, but yeah,
we obviously have to talk about it as somebody who we talked about as,
as a first round prospect.
And we know that teams will be desperate to get quarterbacks and Carson Beck
was a name that whether it was in the first round or shortly thereafter he was one who you were
trying to plug into teams that might need a quarterback and I just I don't think we're at
that point anymore it would not surprise me if Carson Beck is uh not in my top five quarterbacks
when it's all said and done so yeah he he I, he, he very well might not be for me.
I mean,
I can confidently sit here.
Yeah.
And,
and say that I think,
which is,
it's a shame,
but it's just,
I just wanted to make sure like we,
we talked about it,
him plenty over summer.
So I just wanted to kind of bring him up in that light.
Some players that I've sort of touched on throughout this show that I think
are stocked down candidates.
Takario Davis is one that I mentioned somebody that we had a lot of high
hopes for is like this,
this tall press man corner
who was going to be really tough.
A lot of people talked about him as, again,
like the next Tyreek Woolen type of a player.
It has been a struggle for him this season.
And I think his deficiencies in his movement skills
versus how tall and long he is,
how high-waisted he is,
that has shown up this year.
And he's gotten more grabby this year.
He's been more indecisive about where wide receivers are going.
And obviously he still has good athletic potential at his size,
but it has not been the year that he had hoped.
And I think there are a handful of other corners who are having better seasons
and are rising to the occasion this year to be in that top five conversation
for the cornerback position.
The other two, again, I touched on them a little bit.
I have been disappointed with Danny Stutzman and Lander Barton.
I was hoping that Lander Barton, who I thought played the game
at a high level when it came to speed,
was going to really be able to hone things in,
look more controlled, have a better sense of where he is
and where the ball is going in zone coverage for coverage assignments.
And from what I have seen, it has not really been any of that. I still think that he is
quite out of control in his movements. I think he's reckless as a tackler still.
And this is somebody who I don't, does he have another year of eligibility? I mean,
at this point in time, I feel like he would be much better served going back than going to the
NFL level. Stutzman, I think we'll end up declaring, I think he will be much better served going back than going to the NFL level.
Stutzman, I think, will end up declaring.
I think he will be in this class.
But again, it was sort of the thing where Danny Stutzman was – I actually think it's a decent parallel.
Stutzman was sort of like the Carson Beck for the linebacker position
where we go, okay, well, somebody's got to be LB1.
We got to talk about somebody as the top linebacker in this class.
And Stutzman brought enough to the table for you to say, all right, well, you know, if
he improves his anticipation and if he gets even better in coverage, yeah, I mean, he's
got adequate size for the linebacker position at the pro level.
He's got pretty good movement skills, but he's still fooled by, you know, pulling linemen and play action a
little bit more than you want to. I understand that's the total reason why you do it. And so
I don't always punish linebackers. It's not like, Oh, have you got fooled by one play action thing?
You can't read it. No. I mean like it's designed to fool these guys. So you got to understand that,
but it's, it's, it's not recognizing you're being fooled a step too late that I still think
he is struggling with a little bit.
And then just again, that overall anticipation being one step ahead.
I thought that that would improve for him this year.
I would have liked for that to improve this year, but it hasn't.
He still has that willingness to be physical.
He'll still come up and hit you.
He's still somebody who puts his body on the line.
He's got that throw other linebackers that are giving you more in coverage and giving
you more in anticipation and control the ability than what I've seen from Stutzman so far this
season. So those are two guys that I think are a little bit on the stock down. And again,
we will see that with the, uh, the big board up update that we will see later this weekend.
Good shout outs, good shout outs, some, some summer scouting darlings. Um, darlings. So we'll keep these rolling in,
but we're building up towards a big mock draft next week.
Excited for it.
You guys also let us know which fixture franchise you want to see next.
We're going to do a mock draft at some point,
but then we'll get back to fixture franchise.
As we mentioned before,
we're going to try to knock out as many of those as possible before we get
to probably mid-December.
And then we start doing our positional rankings and we go through those shows
and we get to dive a lot deeper into those positions
and exactly why we love those players.
So that'll be coming sort of mid-December,
but we want to try to do these fixture franchises as much as we can before that.
We would love to hear your thoughts on all of these players
and some other players that you want to hear more of here on this show.
Best way to do that, youtube.com backslash at NFL Stock Exchange.
You can hit us up on X and Twitter, or sorry, X and Instagram as well,
at Tampa Bay Trey, at Connor J. Rogers.
We'll have a mock draft for you.
We'll have a fixture franchise for you next week.
Connor, anything else before we get out of here?
That's it, partner.
Fun show today, I must say.
Always good to get a lot of hearty laughs in.
It was good.
Hopefully you guys enjoyed it too.
Appreciate you guys being along for the ride.
I'm Trevor Sikama.
With me, as always, is Connor Rogers.
