when you take a guy a little bit earlier than where he's expected to go.
You got to be right.
Post the graphic,
folks, Connor Rogers of NFL Stock Exchange when talking about the NFL draft,
you got to be right.
If you want to stick around in this league, you got to be right.
Once in a while, I say something pretty smart.
You got to be right.
If you draft the center in round one, the fact of the matter is,
you got to be right.
You got to be right.
Welcome to the opening bell for the NFL Stock Exchange show.
Trevor Sycambea, Connor Rogers, here with you guys.
What an incredible cold open that was.
Connor, you said you needed that graphic.
You gotta, you gotta, you gotta post that graphic.
It's gotta go straight to IG.
I need it for IG and it's honestly so good.
I think I'm printing it out and putting sneaking it in one of the home frames.
What do you think of that idea?
That's like, yeah, yeah.
Wedding picture, newborn son, dog on the back deck.
That graphic stuck.
I'm gonna do it and see how long it takes for Kristen to notice.
Again, we are, uh, we are just building.
up things that will be there in the NFL
OSCE office when that happens one day
when you and I have a studio together for this show.
Hello to everybody and welcome to another
Fix Your Franchise episode of the show.
We started the series last week
with the Los Angeles Chargers
and today for this episode we are continuing
with the New Orleans Saints.
One would say we're marching in
to fix your franchise on this episode here.
I like that, Trevor.
Nice.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Did you think of that on your show?
your flight across the country. I did. You know, it was a, it was a longer one because I'm out in L.A.
at NFL studios here. And, uh, do you watch a movie? It was, uh, no, you know what? No, I didn't.
I was actually worked. I'd never watch a movie. I would never, why would you even say I would
never watch a movie? But also I was, I was cooking things up for the NFL SC offseason simulator,
which we will be using here on the show today while we're going through Ficture franchise. But, yeah,
I had about five hours on the flight.
And so really like, mark four and a half hours, I kind of came up with like, oh, yeah,
if the Saints lose, I could say that they're marching into Ficture Franchise.
So yeah, just said the buzzer there, but we did get it.
There's a lot of things that we got to talk about with New Orleans Saints.
Now, we've done Fixier Franchise for the Saints in the past, but things definitely feel different.
And if you're new to Fixer Franchise here, if you're a Saints fan and you're tuning in for the first time,
if the algorithm did its job, what we do here on this show and with this,
format is we take a look at how we got here with the Saints who are two and five this season.
A lot of things not going right. We sort of explain what's not going right in as much context
as we can bring. We'll talk about some changes that we think they're going to make and then
just changes that we would make. Again, we'll fire up the NFLSC offseason simulator,
which you guys can do as well, NFLSC Show.com backslash offseason. We'll go through GM options,
head coaching options, coordinator options. We'll look at the roster. Who are they going to keep?
Who are they going to cut? Free agents they're going to go after. And then we wrap it all up with a
mock draft at the end of the show.
So, Connor, I'll kind of kick it off to you as the chef behind the scenes pulls up the mock draft
simulator, which again, you guys can follow along if you're watching here live or whenever
you're watching this.
If you're a Saints fan or any other fan of any other team, you could fire this bad boy up.
Again, NFLSci Show.com backslash off season.
The chef's got it up here.
And Connor thoughts, right?
I mean, we've got the Saints here for many started off this season as a favorite in the
NFC South. And understandably so with a lot of momentum that they had at the end of that
2025 season, excuse me. But now they're two and five. They're coming off of a taking the wind
out of your sales type of a loss in Paris against the Pittsburgh Steelers. I know there's a lot
to get into when it comes to the underlying things to the coaching staff, the roster, everything.
But my friend, when you think about the Saints at this point in time, overall thoughts as we dig
into this here. This is an interesting one, right? Because it's not
just as simple as a tear down.
They need everything.
You know, and I've been in the trenches.
I hopped into our Discord in the St.
specific chat and shout out to everybody in there dropping their thoughts.
It's been really cool to read all of it.
I was like, and this was, you know, but not much time to the show.
I was like, today's the day.
Let's do it.
And everybody's, you know, really firing away their top of line thoughts.
You know, if you watch this team this year, there's the very obvious.
They can't run the ball.
this feels like now the second year in a row that the ground game,
I don't even know if you could say it's simply not good enough.
It is in a tier of its own of inefficiencies.
And when you can't run the ball,
especially when you have an offensive head coach,
it kind of brings everything else down with it.
That factors into time of possession.
It factors into staying ahead of the sticks,
you know,
keeping drives,
sustaining drives.
And this is a heartbreaking kind of year for the Saints
because it felt like the way they finished last year,
they were ready to take significant steps forward,
and they've lost games in a way
where they were right there every single time,
in my opinion, for the most part.
I mean, we know what happened week one against the lines
and coming down to the last play.
You beat the Ravens, you lose a close one to the Raiders,
that there was some mistakes there in that second half.
Okay, your defense kind of got run out of the building against Atlanta.
But I even thought against the Vikings and the Steelers,
there was plenty of moments where they were right in that game as well.
And, you know, they were blown out the Giants before they pulled their starters.
So it's one of those fixing ones where this team shouldn't be as far away as the typical
early fixier franchises.
And I like a lot about their quarterback in Tyler Shuck, who they got really good value on.
They're waiting for Jordan Tyson to be back.
It's a shame that ETN's been hurt most of the year.
But there's a lot of holes in this roster.
I don't think the defense is very talented.
I think there's a real conversation to be had about.
And this was pretty not jarring, but I was thinking it.
And then when you talk to Saints fans, it's like, no, we want Mickey Loomis and
Kellan Moore like gone.
We want to start over there.
And I'm like, oh, okay, this isn't just me looking at it.
Like, I don't know.
Saints fans over there are like, no, it's got to be a lot better than this from a coaching
and a roster construction standpoint, which is why they're an early fix candidate for us
today.
Yeah.
And again, if you guys are watching and following along, you'll see on the screen here
that the chefs got us to the point.
where we're simming the rest of the season.
Now we're not going to hit the button quite yet,
but what we'll do here when we kind of finish sat in the table is we'll sim the rest of the season.
How the Saints finish,
that's where they will be in the upcoming draft order when we get to the mock draft portion of the show.
But hey, you mentioned Saints fans.
You know, they want Mickey Loomis, the general manager gone.
They want Kellam Moore gone.
They might not be the only ones here because this is what Saints owner,
Gail Benson said when they were one and four, right?
So they're one and four and she said this.
Now they're two and five and coming off of again,
that international just poor showing that they had in Paris.
She said, before I reflect on our 60th season,
because I think she was speaking for the 60th season of the New Orleans Saints,
I want to address where we stand.
We are one and four, and that's not acceptable to me,
and fall short of what our fans truly deserve.
I hear the frustration towards our team and our organization,
and it is not lost on me.
She then continued later and said,
Kellam Moore and his coaches are responsible for preparing our players to perform.
Mickey Loomis and our football staff are responsible for building,
roster capable of sustaining success.
Our players are responsible for their preparation and execution,
and I am responsible for holding this organization accountable.
I kind of think that's exactly what they're going to do at the end of this season.
I don't know if they're really going to make changes in the middle of the year.
It feels like they're going to give them a little bit more of a runway than that.
But certainly a bit bad for Shuck, I think.
As weird as that sounds, right?
Yeah, because who are you signing or who are you elevating?
Like Brandon Staley, you're just elevating Brandon Staley, their defense coordinator.
Just get through the year.
Try to make some progress and then reset, like you said.
I think that's where I'm at with them as well.
But speaking to Kellamore, well, right before we speak to Kellemore, we talk about how poor this team is right now.
Tyler, I'll let you hit the button, simulate the rest of the 2026 season.
It'll be hilarious if the Saints actually go on a run here with the simulator.
Like last year.
We are starting from the two and five point, but then if they go on a little bit of a run,
It'd be funny if they ended up making the playoffs or the simulation.
Okay, so they're not going to.
They ended up finishing the season 6 and 11, which I think is very realistic for what we could be talking about with the Saints when the season is done.
Obviously, they missed the playoffs.
And if you guys are using the offseason simulator, you could also simulate the playoffs and see who won the Super Bowl.
See who won the Super Bowl.
Let's hit that same playoff button.
Let's see.
Just for fun.
Just for funsies, you know?
By the way, somebody said that I look like a-
I just want to see something.
Somebody said that it looked like a Swedish hockey player in the off-season play.
playing golf. They said that that's
that's actually a tire in my look.
wildly accurate. It isn't saying how you
are a clone of Gabriel Landisog.
It like it's unbelievable. You two
could be the same person. I'll take it.
That's a great
great comp. Absolutely.
Stanley Cup champion. It's great.
Stanley Cup champion. Comeback player
the year I believe for him, you know?
I mean, yeah, it's a great comp to have.
All right. So we got the New, the
San Francisco 49ers. San Francisco
49ers ended up winning the Super Bowl.
to him. Now the Super Bowl and the mantle. So let's start the off season. Because we start the
off season. If you click this button, it takes you to the next page, which gets you to, you know,
we'll talk about Mickey Loomis. We'll talk about Kellyn Moore. We can start with Mickey Loomis
because that is the first thing that you address here in the simulator is the GM position.
And Connor, he's been around for a long time. And that is a, that is a theme with the New Orleans Saints.
I mean, you look at the player, you look at the people that are in the front office, whether it's
general managers, assistant general manager.
You know, Director of Player Personnel, Director of College Scouting,
I look at all of these people and I go, holy cow, y'all, y'all have all been here for 20 years.
Right.
They are very much an organization.
Now, certainly when Sean Payton was the head coach, they had a ton of success.
So there wasn't this big call for a lot of these guys to be fired or changed or anything like that.
So you understand that's a big chunk of it.
But, man, Loomis has been, I think he was the general manager up until, what was it,
2015 or something and then he also took on your vice president of football operations as well but for
all intents and purposes he's been the general manager there for over 20 years but i can understand
given some of the lack of success of the players that they have either brought in or signed
extensions with especially post sean payton era it feels as though loomis just really has not
done enough whether it's been hiring head coaches because you remember loomis
hired Dennis Allen, which that was kind of very New Orleans saincy anyways, right?
Like, oh, Sean Payton's been here for whatever it was, 15 years, 18 years.
I can't remember exactly what it was.
Let's just hire the defensive coordinator who's also been here since 2015 is the next head coach.
So you're not really changing anything.
That doesn't work out the way that you wanted to.
You hire Kellam Moore.
That's clearly not working.
So if the Kellamore thing doesn't work out for them, he's one for three on hiring head coaches.
and that one was Sean Payton.
So post-Shon-Payton, it just does not look good for Mickey Loomis right now.
And there's not a lot that I think that he can hang his hat on right now.
No, and sometimes it's time for a new era.
It's time for something different.
You can look back fondly of the success you had and admit,
the reality is not, I shouldn't say not everybody,
a lot of people after 65 don't have their fastball.
I'm sorry for the unks out there.
Or the grandpas.
It, like, it's a really stressful job.
It is an incredibly stressful job.
It's wildly demanding.
You're naturally going to lose some velocity, for a lack of a better comparison.
And Mickey Loomis, who I believe he's going to be turning 70, it's been a hell of a run.
I don't realize he was that.
Right?
I'm pretty sure.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's turning 70.
It's been a hell of a run.
Like you said, Trevor, this is an organization.
that they do like continuity in some kind of ways.
And you nailed it.
Like, you look at their VPP,
which is a huge, huge job in terms of scouting
and free agency in a front office.
Michael Parentin, he's been there for 14 years.
He started after a very brief NFL career
as a scouting assistant in 2012.
And just, he's just been in the scouting department
and then at the top of the front office,
you know, 14 years he's been a part of that organization.
Jeff Ireland, after his stint as GM didn't work out, landed there and has been there for a long time.
You're 100% right.
They have a ton of people that have just been here.
And like you said, there's been times where they had success.
But it's time for a, and they do this on the roster.
Like Alvin Camara and Cam Jordan are just there forever and ever.
And it's just time to really turn the page and get a younger GM with maybe some different principles.
and I loved reading this in our
our Discord.
I believe, and I want to shout out the user,
I'll find who said it.
But they were like seven of our nine last of our first round picks
have been on the offensive line or the defensive line
and we can't run the ball or stop the run.
Yeah, man.
And that is, I'm going to shout out who said that in the Discord
because it's been flying, the messages are moving so fast
that I actually lost it while we started recording.
But like that is really,
that really speaks to it all, right?
I'm 100% with you while you looked that up.
I mean, it's no worse than what we saw this past week
where they rush for 18 yards on 17 carries.
Now, Travis Achen's not out there, right?
And he was the big free agent that you wanted to sign.
He's getting over a hamstring injury.
Like, I get it.
But it was so beyond running backs and who was getting the ball out of the backfield.
Like, it was absolutely the offensive line.
and I looked into this with Kellyn Moore, actually, because I was like, man,
has Moore always, like, not been great at running the ball?
The answer is kind of yes, unfortunately.
I know. It's sneaky. At least it was sneaky to me.
Because, and I'm with you, I did not realize this.
So Kellamore was hired. I know we're not quite head coach yet,
but it all kind of, like, ties into it.
Callum Moore was hired in 2025 to be the head coach.
The year before he was the Eagles offense coordinator when they won the Super Bowl,
The year before that, he was the charge's offense coordinator.
And five years before that, he was Dallas Cowboys offense coordinator.
If you look at rushing success rate, this year, they have a 37.4 rushing success rate.
That's 24th in the NFL.
Last year it was 39.3, but that was even worse in the rankings.
It was 28th in the NFL.
The year with the Eagles, when everything was going well and they won the Super Bowl, that was 43%.
It was 11th.
But then 36.7, the year before, that was 27.
39.7.
The year before that, it was 22nd, and then 20th, and then 12th and 5th.
Like, right when he came on with the Dallas Cowboys,
those first two years, it was really good.
It hadn't really been good since then.
Outside of having Philadelphia's gods of offensive linemen
to be able to run whatever he wanted.
Yeah, you could have asked Madden to run with that team, and it would work.
I'm just calling it like I see it when you look at that unit.
A hundred percent.
And they're trying to run.
Kellam Moore likes to run a zone blocking scheme.
He likes to run a lot of inside zone stuff.
When he can, he likes to run a lot of outside zone stuff.
And they're trying that this year, and it's just not working.
Like, I think the Kelvin Banks and Talisei Fuaga and I know Kelvin Max is hurt,
but like you signed David Edwards because he's a zone blocking offensive lineman.
Eric McCoy, I think he can do anything, but he's great in the zone blocking scheme as well.
I think they have the right offensive linemen schematically to run what they want.
They're just bad at it.
They're just bad at it.
And these guys are far too finesse in how they're playing.
And I'm watching these guys get knocked off the ball.
I don't want to take anything away from the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive line
who played great this past weekend.
But my goodness, man, I mean, you're getting no push, no room, no rushing lanes, no daylight,
nothing out of this group.
And you mentioned how it's the same issues on the defensive side.
And I think all of that comes back to Kellyn Moore.
not being a great run game offensive head coach, but then also to what you said, getting back to Mickey Loomis,
you pick these players and they're not playing well for you.
The issue, you have emphasized the trenches for the last couple of seasons, and it's still bad.
So I think we do.
I think we got to replace him here.
So let's talk about some candidates for general manager, because I think there's a handful that are alluring here for the Saints.
Yeah, and in the Saints channel on our Discord, that was stuttering, Steve.
that put it quite perfectly.
He said, for me, it's unacceptable.
Seven of our last nine first round picks have been offensive linemen or defensive linemen,
and we can't run or stop the run.
And I think that's really well put.
I think it really, really is.
But I'm with you, Trevor.
It's time for a new era for this team.
And now we dip into the pool of GMs.
So there's three, I'll say, saints rooted people that I think will be candidates for you.
This job.
One is Jeff Ireland, who was the general manager for the Miami Dolphins in the early 2010s.
And then when he no longer had that job, when he got fired from that job, he took on the director of college scouting job in 2015 for the New Orleans Saints where he has been ever since.
So if you kind of want to hire from within, you can.
Jeff Ireland's done it before.
He's been around with the Saints a long time.
You could go that option.
Terry Fontnoe was a member of the New Orleans Saints front.
office for a long, long time. He started in 2003. He was there until 2021. Then he went over with the Atlanta
Falcons and obviously it didn't work out with him in the Falcons because he's no longer the Falcons general
manager. I think there maybe might be some certainly on his side. You know, he'll say that he was maybe
hamstrung in ways by maybe what the ownership wanted to do or something like that. But I'm just
shouting out that I think he's a candidate. Kai Harley is in the building and I've read a good
amount of stuff from him as their cap guy. The New Orleans Saints are one of those teams that's
famous for how they navigate the cap and all the void years and, you know, being a billion dollars
over the cap every year. And yet somehow they keep signing people and whatever. I think that Harley is a
big reason why they would do that. And he's been the director of football operations since
2008. And then, oh, that was his first gig with them. And then he was promoted to vice president in
2013 and he's been the assistant GM for the last a couple of years now since
2023 so I think those are the in-house options that the saints will naturally explore just
because it feels like that's how they operate but anybody else outside of the building that
you would want to maybe shout out here as candidates well I think the hire has to be external
if they truly want to go through I agree with you if what we're saying and those are appropriate
shouts because that is those guys in theory probably get some looks from the organization,
especially Ireland, who I know gets a lot of credit for some of the big hits they've had in
the draft. Harley, like you said, it was a different background, being more on the, you know,
salary cap and different side of the, not different side of the building, but it's just not a
old school scouting job that he's had, which makes him pretty interesting. And then, you know,
Fano who I was laughing in the chat when someone was like, he did us a lot of favors when he was with the Falcons.
Yeah, obviously it did not.
I obviously it didn't work out with it.
I wanted to say those names first again because I think that they will be, I think they will be realistic within the conversations.
But I wanted to say those names first because I'm with you.
We are going to hire somebody from the outside here because I think that that's the way you do it.
Any names that you have to start?
Because I got a couple that I thought of that I think might be good fits, but anyone that you want to shout out first.
Well, it's so fascinating to me that Alec Halby walked away from the Eagles because he would have been the guy I'm most interested in for this job because he's somebody that can completely flip your processes upside down of where you are.
I look at the Saints and I think a lot of their, I'm not, you know, I'm not going to act like I'm that deeply ingrained in their organization.
But from an outsider looking in, I feel like they are a little bit more of an old school operation in some ways.
They have some old school scouts.
They have a lot of guys that have been there for a long time.
And Hallaby is somebody that when you look at his analytical responsibilities during all of his time at Philadelphia, I think really enhanced their process.
When everybody's sitting there going, oh, how did the Eagles accumulate these amount of picks and then turn them into the BPA on the board?
And like, Hallaby is a huge part of how he's processed there.
So the question is, is he just, and he's had a lot of interviews in the NFL.
Yeah, he's a couple, yeah.
Is it, you know, for the big chair, other places?
Did he just walk away because he felt like it wasn't going to happen?
I'm going to, we're starting that as a bit.
I don't know if you heard that from somewhere, but calling it the big chair.
The big chair.
Yeah, I'm, I'm, we're calling it that from now on.
You know, he's had a couple of shots at the big chair.
You know, hey, he's interviewed a couple of times for the big chair.
chair. Hey, this is a guy that you really feel
could fill out the big chair.
You know? We're keeping this.
We're keeping that bit. Everybody's just
on my ass right now. Maco's, what is
Connor's water bottle? Looks like he's chugging a giant
white claw. It's just an NBC Yetty.
That's all it is. No white claw
on the job.
Unless they want to sponsor the show.
Then I will have a white claw on the job.
There's nothing stopping me. I'm home.
I'm not driving anywhere. Yeah, then we'll shotgun
it. It's 3.30. So what?
Hey, we're trying to fix the Saints.
What do you know?
We need something here.
Now, I see in the chat some love for Ray Agnew.
We went that direction for the Chargers.
Yeah.
And I know one of our goals is to try not to do too many repeats.
I think it's a good, I just want to give you credit.
Like, it's a good call out.
Because this is somebody that is known for building the trenches.
And I think their defensive line definitely needs some help.
but I don't want to do a repeat of the fixier franchise we just did, Trevor.
So the other names, because I think the Hallaby is a name, I agree with you.
I think Chad Alexander, who is the assistant GM for the Chargers.
I know not great stuff with the Chargers recently,
but he was with the Ravens for a long time, was with the Jets for a long time, very curious.
He deserves a medal when you work for the Jets and the Chargers back to back and you survive.
I felt as though he, like, the moves during his tenure,
were good though, right? Yeah, no, no doubt.
I'm not calling, Chad. Okay, yeah. He's a legitimate, you know,
personnel man in the NFL with a, with a strong reputation. So I think that he's an option
there. And then Brian Hampton as well, he is the assistant GM. I think he's the assistant GM.
Yeah, now actually he is officially the assistant GM for the San Francisco 49ers.
He joined him as an ops intern in 03 was the director of football administration and
analytics for 10 years.
He was the VP from like 2020 to 2024.
Adam Peters, who's the general manager of the Washington commanders,
he talked about how instrumental Brian Hampton was in educating him on everything that goes on in an offseason when it comes to certain negotiations and how you build a roster and all this kinds of stuff.
And I think that Hampton is somebody that could get considered there as well.
So it feels like we've got three names that we feel pretty good about.
Alexander, Hampton, and Hallaby.
I know you brought up Halaby.
Do you lean him here?
Because I like Chad Alexander as well.
He feels like somebody who I think is a strong candidate here.
Yeah.
And I think I'd have a problem.
As much as I like him,
Hallaby leaving an assistant GM job in the NFL to start a new chapter
makes it tough to hire him right now.
Because we just, as far as I've checked publicly,
we don't really know what he's been up to.
Maybe he's just skiing.
maybe he's just scheming.
Scheming for his actual GM job?
Yeah, maybe, you know,
maybe he should get hired.
That's what I'm saying.
If he's been scheming since May,
then I want to hire him for this job.
Chad Alexander,
definitely a really, really interesting one.
And it's, you know,
Or do the Saints, I keep going back to,
we're not going to do it on this show,
but would you really be shocked if the Saints
finally move on for Mickey Loomis
and they either promote Ireland
or I brought up Michael Parentin,
their VPP for,
You know, has been there 14 years.
I don't want to do that today, but I do want to like say, I'm with you where it would be very saints to just promote from within in that spot.
That's what I'm saying.
That's why I named those candidates first because I think that there's a realistic possibility that they're going to promote from within because that's like what the saints do.
They're just very much about hiring people, investing in them, believing in them and elevating them from within.
So they could very well go this direction.
But again, I think that we should pick one of these outside guys.
Yep.
If you want to pick Hallaby because he's been scheming, we can.
We can't.
So why'd you guys hire Alec Halliby?
Well, he's been scheming for months.
I like him or Chad Alexander.
I feel like Alexander, when you look at his resume, I feel like it's pretty strong.
I think he had other general manager opportunities with the Viking specifically last year.
And I remember reading that he declined after.
after them having interest in him because he was very committed to like seeing things out with
the chargers.
But with the chargers, potentially, you know, like going through some wholesale changes.
I think that obviously is a little bit more open to it.
Let's go with the shoot for the stars.
Let's go with Halvey.
Okay.
It's just a different move.
And I think if I'm getting the vibe that I think I am from the Saints fans,
they are ready for a much different approach.
right now. And this is as different as you can get, man. And, you know, it would lend itself to
their salary cap situations because the Eagles are also a team that they don't do things exactly
like the Saints do, but they utilize a lot of void years and how they structure their contracts.
So, Hallaby is somebody who has been in the building for the Eagles process and being able to
step in and handle the Saints books, which we'll get to here in a second, it is a, a,
interesting tasks. Now, if you're keeping, like, if you're keeping Harley on staff to help manage
the cap and everything, if you feel like he's somebody that you want to, like, keep around in the
front office, then obviously you're okay anyways, probably regardless of who you hire as general
manager. But let's go with Halby. Let's take Albi here as the general manager, which then brings us
to the head coaching position. And I sort of laid the groundwork a little bit for Kellamore already.
Some extra stats here. Not good ones, by the way. This one's from Shield
Capadia.
In 23 games under Kellanmore, the Saints have been outscored by a league worst.
128 points in the first quarter.
No other team.
Hold on.
No other team.
There's more.
Hold on.
No other team is worse than 65.
They're at negative 128.
And then he went on to say the difference between the Saints and the commanders, which is the very last spot versus the second last spot, is the
same difference between number 31 on the list and number 19 on the list.
It's not just bad.
It's horrendous.
And I think that that obviously goes into the run game, man.
If you can't run the football, you can't set the tone.
If you're just relying on the past game the whole time, it's just a really good way to be
inconsistent out of the gate.
And so, like, that was just another way to sort of set the table of.
That's unreal.
Kellymour just has not been good enough.
And very clearly, it's not going in the right direction.
So for as much as I have liked Kellam Moore at times in the past,
like him as a head coach and how he is approaching things with this team,
not good enough, man.
Just no other way about it, not good enough.
So we got to move on from him.
So I think the Mountain versus the Hound battle here is Kellynne Moore's first
quarters against Aaron Glenn's pre-half situations.
Glenn before the half is being outscored one.
107 to 6.
And Kellan Moore in the first quarter is being outscored by over 120 points.
That would be basically the Super Bowl of Ineptitude.
I saw your clip on SNY where you were tired, man.
Where they were talking about the timeouts and you were,
you do a very, you do a very great job of being professional.
Thank you.
And also like the way that you, the way that you, the way that you,
talk about the Jets a lot because I've known you for a long time and I've been your podcast co-host
for whatever it's been like four or five years now. Half a decade? Yeah. Yeah. It feels like it feels like
it's crazy. We've done enough episodes. It feels like spill a lot longer than that. But you're
almost like you're almost like a stern, disappointed parent. Look at my face. You when it comes to
you. You're the, who's the host? Who's the host of that? Steve. Steve, he's like, he reads the
quote off and he goes to you and you're like, Connor, I don't think that makes sense. You
go, no, it literally doesn't make sense.
Yeah, like, it can't.
You can't have these.
Like, what he's saying is, it's quite literally logically impossible, what he's saying.
And that's a really tough spot to be in.
So, I just want to say, you do, you do very good job handling that.
I really appreciate that.
It, um, builds character from within.
Ross said, I've seen, I've seen a lot of things.
The ineptible.
That's it.
Ross.
That is the ineptible.
Mikey said, forehead veins bulging.
Yeah.
because I get it all out before the show
and then I sit on the desk in a calm manner
like you said, disappointed parent mode.
So I think that
I wasn't sure when I wanted to make this point
whether it was during the roster building
or whether it was at this point.
I actually think that this point
as we're discussing potential head coaches
is the time to make it.
So obviously we talked about how in the trenches
they're not good enough with this team, right?
I found another underlying issue with this team
and that is the fact that
when I was looking at, okay,
I don't mind the offensive linemen that they have on the team,
but like it's just not working.
They're trying to run the zone blocking scheme game,
especially a lot of outside zone stuff this year.
And it's just, it's not working all around.
And I go, okay, well, where's the help?
Where's the tight ends?
We're in a much like heavier personnel era.
Connor, they ain't leaning in at all.
Yeah.
They are bottom five, bottom ten, if not bottom five in a lot of 12 personnel usage over,
certainly this year.
I didn't categorize last year as well, but they were a high 11 personnel team last year.
So I have to assume that they were barely using 12 personnel or at least bottom half,
bottom 10, bottom five in the league.
And then you look at their tight ends.
Dude, it's Juan Johnson, no offense.
That's right.
That's the issue too.
You have two of the same receiving tight ends.
Bingo.
In an era where every other team in the league is trying to tell you, go heavy with tight ends.
Go get a blocking tight end.
They have over the last two years.
Now, I like Oscar Delp.
Obviously, you know, they drafted Oscar Delp.
But like Delp's not going to fix it.
Delp is so much more of like a tight end full back utility.
You have somebody who you could put on the line of scrimmage.
Yeah, Hogmolly.
And they don't have either guy who could do.
I mean, like, yeah, okay, Noah Fant and Juan Johnson can be on the line of scrimmage.
But they're- So could you or I.
Right.
They're so inconsistent that they're not changing the math at all.
Instead, you're just wasting where a player is in the formation.
So that was when I saw that, that was a huge glaring issue for me is that over the last three years,
the whole league has been gravitating towards becoming more versatile with heavy personnel
especially letting that help out your run game.
And the Saints have not cared about it and not leaned into it at all whatsoever.
And now they've got one of the worst run games in the NFL.
Their total EPA rushing in 12 personnel is the second worst in the NFL behind only the Green Bay Packers.
That's it.
And that just can't be, man.
Not when so many other teams around the league are having that type of success.
So I think one of the main things that we've got to fix on this team here is,
certainly we got to get a coach who understands like where the game is going.
You got to get more help at the tight end position.
So I think that I wanted to mention that here because I think it goes into who we might
end up hiring for this team.
I'm with you.
And it also kind of reinforces the point.
No team in the NFL should be this poor at running the football.
But I think especially this team, there is schematic differences that can get them into a much
different tier.
The tier of lack of run game they're in right now is horrific.
They can be middle of the pack without adding all this different personnel.
Yes, you nailed it.
They need a blocking tight end.
They do.
But you're right.
And they are aware of it.
I mean, to be running 11 personnel at almost a 70% clip in this era of the NFL
and really being under 18% and 12 personnel,
when you look at what everybody else is doing, it's pretty surprising.
So you better be the Bengals if those are your numbers.
Right. And you're not. Not without Jordan Tyson. You're not. Right. Right. Yeah. So who do they think Devon Valle is? Like, look, I love me. He's been good. I love me some Devon Velae. He's a good number three. He is.
Right. You need your number two to get healthy. So, do you have any like auto liens for this? Because I have one right away.
You know, I think that the
The standard, you know, like Grand Udinsky I like is a potential guy here.
That's my late.
Okay.
Grudinsky's the guy for me at the top and for this job.
So the young guys that I like the most for this are Grand Udinsky,
who is the offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And obviously he doesn't call plays.
Liam Cohen calls plays.
But Udinski is kind of right there when it comes to just the overall offensive development.
Declan Doyle is doing a great job as the offensive coordinator.
as the Baltimore Ravens.
I like both of those guys.
Zach Strife was,
he was with the Saints.
When was he with the Saints?
Not that long ago.
Yeah.
And now,
because now he's with Peyton in Denver
and he's the run game coordinator
and he's a former offensive lineman.
So I might actually like him
more as an OC hire for this team.
Maybe we get to that rather than a head coaching hire.
Yeah, he was for the Saints for a long time with Payton.
Yeah, you'd be looking to give him
probably one of those fans.
He has the fancy title now.
I didn't realize he's also, what you do is to keep guys like that is you give him
assistant head coach titles, but he does have that with Denver.
And I think he might be more instrumental with calling plays because like Davis Webb's in
Denver right now, right?
So it's like there's not even that sort of immediate line of collaboration or play calling
or whatever.
So I think he might be more of an offensive coordinator candidate.
But Sean McDermott, I wouldn't hate for this team.
Mike Tomlin, obviously, a super successful.
head coach. So if you want that stability, it wouldn't hate that for this team.
Anthony Weaver is an interesting one, you know, with the Harbaugh background from the Harbaugh
coaching tree. But I think I would lean one of those two younger guys like Udinski or Declan Doyle.
I think that's where that's where I'd be going. And you like Udinski more.
For this job, I do. I look at what Jacksonville, how Jacksonville uses their tight ends as well.
Kind of goes into everything we complained about with this offense. In theory, Udinski
he should be able to transition from Jacksonville to the Saints and bring a lot of the solutions to the problems we just went over.
Yeah, Maddie's saying what happened to the Rams coordinator seemed like they were super hot candidates last year,
but it's been really quiet this year. It's just an overwhelming year. No, Nate Shieldhausen and Chris Shula,
I still think are guys that you'll talk about as future potential head coaches.
So I don't, no, I wouldn't say that they've like totally fallen off or anything like that.
but I think that, you know, Udinski and Doyle for as much success as,
you know, Doyle has had with the Ravens and then certainly Udinski as well,
just as a whole with the Jaguars.
Like those are the guys that are closer to the top of the list because of everything that they've got going on.
Obviously, the Jaggs, if you talk about tight end usage and leaning into, you know,
where the game is going and all that kinds of stuff, he's definitely been a part of that.
Somebody mentioned Brian Flores.
Thoughts on potentially like Brian Flores as head coach is at D.C.
and then, you know, you probably wouldn't, I mean, you wouldn't be able to get one of those top-tier minds to come over and be the offense accord.
I mean, maybe you could get Udinski to come over because you could tell him that you can call plays.
I think that Jack, that's a risk if you're him.
Just wait until you get the head coaching job.
Yeah, right, right.
So I think that if you want the offensive guy, you kind of just got to hire the guy as the head coach.
I would imagine Flores brings McCown with him as the O.C.
because McCown is the past game coordinator
and quarterbacks coach for the Vikings.
Yeah.
And he can tell him to call plays.
Like Dave Canales did with Brad Isick with Buckstaff.
Yeah.
Right.
Flores is awesome.
I just,
with this job,
was leaning young offensive mind
to go with the young analytical GM we hired.
Yeah.
But I think Flores is a hell of a coach.
I think he's going to get another opportunity.
I don't know if this is the job.
And when I say that, I'm not saying it like, it's not.
I truly don't know.
Yeah, yeah.
I like Udinski.
If you want to do Udinsky.
Let's hire.
Let's go Grant Udinski for the head coaching position.
I think that we should sign,
Zach, is it strife, strife?
I actually don't know how you say his last name.
But I like the New Orleans connection.
And I like that he's an offensive line guy too.
He's the run game.
coordinator for the Broncos. Again, like, we're just, we're trying to get the run game right.
And we're trying to get the trenches right. So I like him as the offensive coordinator higher.
Let's go with him. Streef. Let's go with him as the O.C. And then DC, I think there's a lot of
different options here. Jordan Rodriguez had a really great article that she wrote earlier this year
talking about, you know, some of the guys who are position coaches who could really stand out
this year. Charlie Bowen is the linebackers coach.
or is it the D-Line coach, I think, for the New York Giants.
And I wonder if he's kind of in line to potentially get a D.C. job after this season.
I'll tell you who you could get if Saints fans would want him.
I just don't know if they would.
You can get Aaron Glenn if you're the Saints.
Oh, did Aaron Glenn get fired?
I don't know if he did.
Oh, yeah, I forgot.
It has to go through our simulator.
Yeah, I don't know if he got fired.
Hey, Tom Bowles got fired.
Oh, man.
That's a bummer.
Whoa, Vic Fangio got fired.
Damn, the Eagles did not have a good season.
I mean, so we got a lot of options here.
But.
Yeah, we do.
Oh, then, you know, there's our guy stuttering Steve.
He said odds of keeping Staley.
He's not getting a head coaching job.
No, you can't do that, man.
They're so poor against the run.
I know, but the personnel stinks.
I don't know how much I put on him.
Tell me if I'm crazy, Saints fans.
I don't love it.
They are so like, man, I don't know how many guys are going to make that work that great.
Yeah, Fangio's done in Philly's going to retire.
I agree with that.
Right.
Yeah, you can't go get Fangio.
It is a new staff and it's a young head coach.
So he's probably, I get it that like they'd move on from Staley.
So we're going to move on from Staley.
I don't think that you could get Sean McDermott.
No, he's going to get a head coaching job.
again. He's getting a head coach job.
Yeah. Man, that's a, it's weird
to say, but it's about, like, Aaron Glenn would have been
the no-brainer here.
I think he would have been the no-brainer.
Because he, he coached there.
It seemed like he really, really liked his time there.
I know they were, it sounded like they were hoping to interview him,
and then he took the Jets job, but it seems like a good landing for Aaron
Glenn if the Jets move on from him.
So I think that, I think that could, that could definitely be a possibility.
Like, do we hire?
Because in the simulator, what we'll do at the end of this guys is you can get to the 2027 season, then you simulate it.
So we don't kind of just want to hire anybody here.
If we wanted to simulate the Aaron Glenn hire, I think we probably maybe just hire Todd Bowles.
Yeah.
Because he's there.
And we can.
He's available.
Todd still wants the coach in the league after this.
That's also another.
Todd's always been able to call defense as a coordinator.
That's never been an issue.
Yeah, I agree with you.
That's never been an issue with him.
Oh, Jim Schwartz, a good call out too.
Is Jim Schwartz available?
Do we have him in here?
I know he's not on a staff, so we might have to add him.
I might have forgotten to add him into the simulator.
That might be a good call out.
No, okay, so he's not in here.
So we got to get him in here.
That's a good call.
That's a good call out.
So we could potentially get him as well.
Let's go with Todd Bowles here because I think that the Aaron Glenn point is a good one.
And just in your mind, we're signing Todd Bowles because I think that in the simulator
it's going to weigh Aaron Glenn and Todd Bull similarly as like really good defensive minds.
That could get like, like, one of them could get fired.
One of them could get fired, obviously.
And then when we get to the 2027 simulation,
I want the simulation to kind of run through
what we're really trying to set up.
So Aaron Glenn would be our choice to be the defensive coordinator,
but we're doing bowls here.
Just so the simulator is good.
So, okay, Al Calaby is our new general manager.
Granite is a new head coach.
I know.
I'm a fan here.
I'm a fan here.
So now we are getting into the roster building
portion of things.
The way that the Saints' salary cap works is they have around, depending on where you look,
it's like $25 to $30 million that are available in salary cap.
Now, the issue, Connor, becomes you have players that are not playing well that are aging
that have void years on their contract.
So Cam Jordan, Alvin Kamara, Nate Shepard, Devon Godshack, those guys.
all have void years on their contract and I think it's like if you were to cut all those guys
and those guys aren't on your team anymore you're your base it's it's like a it's like 30 million
right there in dead money that you're going to have to pay which by the way you want to hear
the dead money that's on their books for this year oh lord it's got to be astronomical right
It is $117 million in dead cap.
Okay?
Wow.
The number one dead cap hit.
You want to take a guess?
Out of the players?
No, it's players that aren't on the roster.
No, I mean, like who is the number one dead cap hit on this team?
Oh, that's currently on the roster or not on the roster?
No, not on the roster.
I was trying to guess.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, I didn't mean to look in the chat, but Sully said Taysam,
Hill. Is it Taysam Hill? It is not Taysam Hill. Taysam Hill is actually fourth highest,
13 million. Oh my God. Somebody in the chat said DeMario Davis. Mario Davis is third on the list at 14
million. This is unbelievable. Cam Jordan is second highest at 18 million. Ryan Ramchick is fifth
highest at 11 million. Tire and Matthew right behind him at 7 million. Brandon Cooks at 3 million.
and number one on the list, a walloping $36 million in Dead Cap Hit is the podcaster himself, Derek Carr.
That is crazy.
It feels like a decade ago he was playing for the Saints.
Oh my God.
Now, the good news is that for 2027...
There's good news?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
The good news is that basically for 2027 right now.
there's only 1.1 million a dead cap hit.
So you know what, New Orleans?
Good for you.
You're cleaning up the books.
You're cleaning up the books.
Yeah, it only took my entire life.
Basically.
And then, like I said, if you've got those older gentlemen who will not be on the team anymore,
that's 30 million that will be in dead cap.
So that'll sort of even out about the cap space that you have right now.
But, Tyler, is this the spot where we do restructural?
Do we do restructures here at this one for the roster?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we can do restructures here.
Okay, because the restructures that are very easy layups here is Chase Young.
Let's restructure Chase Young because that gets them an extra $13 million.
A resurgent Chase Young.
Dude, unbelievable.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Unless it won't let us restructure it.
I don't know why it wouldn't let us restructure it.
Yeah, I don't know why, but we can't restructure Chase Young.
All right, that's strange.
It's not letting us restructure Chase Young.
We'll obviously look into that because you'll.
should be able to restructure him. Let's restructure Chris Olave because you're getting an extra
$9 million there for Olavay. And then Eric McCoy, if you restructure that, I think you get
another $8 million there as well. Oh, he only has one year left. So can you know, so then we'd have
to resign him, I'm guessing. Yeah, you'd probably have to add on years to the deal.
And then guess how many void years Chase Young had.
Four after
2007.
I don't know if this changes our cap, though, if we sign him here.
I don't know if we kind of have that flexibility there.
So I think this is probably a better way to do it, though.
Like instead of, because we don't need to resign these guys.
I think there's a world where you could extend, you know, restructure, whatever it is, Chase Young, Eric McCoy.
You can find some extra money here.
But $36 million to play with, I feel like, is that.
is that is that sweet spot for them because i feel like that's going to be the the amount of money
that they that they have to play with um i think you could probably
i don't know do we need to go through all these players i feel like we don't can we just sim it
to where they're signing and cutting these guys or we have to go through all of it tyler
uh i think if we don't uh re-sign them they're just going to be free agents so okay so is there anybody
in their free agency pool because Tyler
says that oh so Julian Blackman I think
is the only one that is one
that you could sign
for them because he's a starting safety I mean he struggled
this year but I think everybody on the team has struggled this year
and you can't replace
the whole roster so right
right okay let's
let's resign Julian Blackman
just so we at least have him
because guys you can go through all of this and you could
resign or not resign kind of whoever you want
I don't mind simulating past this because no there's not much
Like we'll over the guys after this.
No, no, we can kind of sim when we get to the end.
See, let's go to free agency.
Oh, actually, now this is fine.
We can do it here.
Oh, no, no, no.
We can release certain players because Justin Reed, if we wanted to release Justin Reed, that saves us.
Let's see.
If he's a post-June 1, I think that it saves them $9 million.
And then if we want to release his or we is.
that's another $9 million as well.
Those two make sense to me.
Yeah, so let's move on from Justin Reed.
And then, yeah, Justin Reed and then Caesar Ruiz, their offensive guard.
Although that didn't save us a lot that Justin Reed won.
Why? Because the dead cap?
Yeah.
Oh, we got a little bit extra there from Caesar Ruiz.
I think what we need to implement the ability to post June 1, those guys,
because if we post June 1, them,
then you save a little bit more money.
So, all right, we're learning things that we've got to fix with the simulator here.
I have some free agent targets for this team.
Well, first of all, the team needs, I would identify them as,
especially if you're moving on from Caesar-A-Wees,
an offensive guard, you've got to get power on this team.
I get that the offensive line has been built to run zone-blocking scheme stuff.
Like, they've got zone-blocking scheme-type offensive linemen.
But Connor, you've got to get more powerful in the trenches.
These guys cannot move these defensive linemen off the ball.
They certainly couldn't this past weekend with the Saints.
maybe it turns around in the second half of the season,
but I think you've got to get more power in the interior.
I think you've got to get a blocking tight end in there.
You have to get a defensive tackle that can be a rock.
And this is, you know, free agency or the draft.
I think they need another edge rusher outside of Chase Young,
more of that true edge rusher type of a player.
And then add in a safety as well, especially if you're cutting Justin Reed.
Now, he could move Jonas Sanker back to that safety spot.
He kind of plays in the nickel for them.
He's a nickel safety hybrid player.
So I guess you can address that whichever spot you don't think that he.
he is going to play at.
But I got some free agents for you in different tiers.
You ready for it?
This is my point.
Let's do it.
Yep.
Tier one.
Quinn Nelson.
Jesse Bates.
Sam Leporta.
Like if any of those three hit the market, which Bates, oh, wow, they all did.
Well, I'd go super hard after Leporta and Bates.
Yeah.
I get the Quentin Nelson thing.
I think we had them go to the Chargers in our last.
last one.
Yeah.
They did just pay David Edwards.
Maybe this is foolish.
I'm a little bullish that we could draft a guard.
I am too.
I feel like there's some interior guys that we can draft.
But we ain't getting Sam Laporta in this draft.
No, you are absolutely not.
If they have the opportunity to get Sam LaPorte, I like that.
Now it's kind of annoying because you still have Noah fan and Joanne Johnson on this team until
at least next year.
I don't think you're moving on from either of those guys.
But you got to get better at tight end.
end and if you have the ability to sign Sam Leporta, I think I'd go for Sam Leporta here.
So yeah, and by the way, and we're going to fix the post-June 1 thing in the simulator.
Mm-hmm.
But even you don't need to make Fant a post-June 1, you can cut them and say 4.25 million.
Can you?
Yeah, on over the cap.
So, fan, without being a post-June 1.
So if you're signing a Phaer, cut fan.
Yeah, it is.
Yeah, okay, great.
There we go.
Perfect.
So cut fan, no-brainer, sign Laporta, him and Joanne Johnson are my 12 personnel.
Probably still look to add a true road grading blocking tight end at some point in the draft or whatever as a tight end three or four.
But I'd be pretty excited about that.
Somebody just asked our June 1 cuts an option.
So they are in real life, obviously.
We need to mix that into the off-season simulator, which we will get those numbers down correctly.
But those are my tier 1 guys.
I mean, if you have the ability to sign Jesse Bates, of course, like I like that.
option. I don't even know. Do we have, we don't even have the, we don't have the cap for it right now
because Jesse Bates can ask for a lot because Jesse Bates is one of the best. Because he's Jesse Bates.
Right. He gets his own tier on tier maker. So then tier two players that I have for free agency,
Grover Stewart, Devon Hamilton, run stopper, Kvon Tibido, or Zavon Collins. I think any of
those players make you a better run defending team. Yes, they do. Grover Stewart.
it seems like the depth they would need up front.
Let's see defensive tackle then.
Let's see who made it.
So Grover Stewart is there.
Devon Hamilton is also there.
So you can get Hamilton for $6 million or...
Could bring back on Yamada on the cheat.
He was there for a while.
Yeah, you could also get...
Oh, man, I don't mind that.
Man, Grover Stewart's only $8 million a year.
Devon Hamilton's only $6 million a year.
Devon Hamilton has been unbelievable for the...
Yeah, I know we liked him on the last one, too.
Yeah.
He's one of those guys that when he's out there,
it makes a lot of sense to try to sign him on that,
at that price point.
Yeah, how old is Grover, Stuart?
God, it feels like he's been playing for the Colts for 900 years.
Yeah, you're getting up there.
D-Tackles could still play at 32.
Man, yeah, he is 32, huh?
I guess Devon Hamilton's not a spring chicken.
How old is he?
29.
All right, which one of these guys you like better?
You have a leaning one way or the other?
Probably get Hamilton.
Save some money.
He's 29.
I think I like that as well.
Get a little younger rather than the guys in their early 30s.
Yeah, let's go Devon Hamilton.
Let's get Hamilton.
Let's sign him.
And then, dude, I guess they kind of already have a lot of these players.
Like Vernon Broaden, Vernon Broaden feels like one of these players.
Carl Grannister can do a lot of different stuff with you.
But like I was thinking about Zavin Collins too, because Zavent Collins,
didn't turn out to be what I think the Cardinals wanted him to be like as a pass rusher,
but the dude's a beast against the run.
And for multiple years now, I feel like he's been really good against the run.
So I think he's an option for them too.
I don't hate that.
That's a pretty good price tag, though.
Can we see the depth chart, Tyler?
Can I see the depth chart really quick?
Okay, yeah, let's go to defense.
Let's go on field.
See what we have.
Because they do have Christian Miller as well.
I think he'd be a factor here.
They also have Brian Brzee, but what was Brzee's injury?
Was an ACL, Achilles?
I think it was the ACL again.
Let's see.
Isn't it the second time he's had a season-ending lower-body injury?
I think so.
I thought he had one at Clemson.
Yeah.
He tore his ACL on the first day of camp this year.
Brutal.
So brutal.
And he tore his ACL four games into his 2021 season at Clemson.
Only 25.
Yeah.
Just turned 25.
I don't know if we need saving Collins because we have Granderson and Young.
No.
And, you know, hopefully a little more injury luck for Kristen Miller and Brian Brazzi will help.
Yeah.
And you got Devon Hamilton.
You're throwing in there too.
Vernon Broadens on the team.
I mean, it's not great, but we're making some progress here.
Yeah.
I mean, is there anybody else that, because like tier three for me is like Charlie
Warner, Drew Sample, if we're going at a tight end.
Like Aishon Robinson, who's been a really good run defender for the Buccaneers so far this season.
Like if you need another safety, Malik Hooker, I know it's not like a high impact safety, but at least like he's just certain.
A veteran safety.
Yeah.
That didn't look like he hit the market anyways.
Yeah, Tibado's here.
Collins is here.
We only got $12 million to spend, so it's not like we got a player who break the bank for us.
Is that also factor them?
We need money for the draft class?
Oh, I think yes, we would need money for the draft class.
So let's get to do one more.
So let's get to the draft then.
I mean, like the free agents that I think are solid ones for them to go after are like Leporta.
And then.
Hold on one second.
Is there a depth corner we could look at here?
Ooh.
Because we got enough money for another signing.
We might as well use it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I like the way you think.
A lot of guys out there.
Carrington Valentine, Sean Murphy Bunting, Martin Emerson,
Brandon Eccles, Trayvon Diggs, Keatrell Clark, Jalen Jones.
Kelly Ringo.
Yeah.
Caleb Evans.
I was thinking Martin Emerson.
Yeah.
So they would have let, we should have resigned him.
I didn't really, like that was one that we probably.
was an oversight.
So let's bring him back.
Okay.
We're going to need
we're going to need some of this money
to like fill out the roster too.
Right.
Okay.
So maybe we got to be careful here.
Yeah, we do.
We do, we do.
But we can sign Martin Emerson.
We can bring it back.
Yeah, let's go.
Let's go Emerson.
Let's sign him and then we'll have some work to do
after we get through the draft.
But let's go on to the 2027 NFL draft.
So we hit tight end a little bit.
We hit defensive tackle.
We got a depth corner.
Man, where are we picking here?
Number seven overall.
Okay, number seven overall in the draft.
And we're not taking a quarterback,
so this is pretty fun possibilities here.
Yep, yep, yep.
Oh, man, there's a corner.
I'll talk about a corner.
Oh, dude, Xavier Gilliams there.
That's the guy I'm staring right at.
Chris Cole.
Man, there are good options here for the Saints.
Xavier Gilliam is a three tech for you.
Chris Cole, the linebacker from Georgia.
I think both of those two guys are studs.
Damn, we have Chris Cole up to 10?
Yeah, he's playing like an alien, man.
I remember the last mock draft we did.
I wanted to take him at like 22,
and everybody thought I was out-lossed my mind.
He's a freak show.
What about edge rushers?
Is anybody on the edge?
Dylan Stewart would one pick ahead to the Buccaneers.
Yeah.
I don't think it has to be long gone.
Yeah, and you're not taking any of these other edge guys at seven.
I mean, I think it's Gilliam or Cole.
Yeah, I think I like Chris Cole, man.
I know you got you draft the Danny Studsman.
You've got Caden Ellis, you got Pete Warner.
Chris Cole is just different.
Yeah, who cares about those guys when Chris Cole's on the board?
Yeah.
People are shouting out Corner as well, but I think you can get Corner a little bit later.
I don't think you can get a Chris Cole a little bit later.
Let's take Chris Cole.
Let's get the Chris Cole here.
All right, let's see what we have here in the second round for them.
Really want to look at the potential guards.
He said Billy Amuasa made it to them.
Damn.
Yeah.
Yeah, but.
That would have been nice at 39, but Chris Cole.
We want to make this offensive line better.
Yeah, yeah.
Anthony Knapp.
Probably Anthony Knapp, I would think.
Lance Hurd and you put him at guard?
You can play Hurd at guard.
Because he's kind of got some heavy feet.
But he's a,
Man, you want to talk about a wrecking ball.
You want to talk about getting more power on the interior.
I think Hurd would fit that identity.
Yeah.
Carter Smith at Guard, potentially.
I think it could be very solid.
Yeah, but I just don't want to be a smaller offensive line.
You want to be a bigger offensive line.
Yeah.
A little power in there.
I mean, yeah.
What about edge rusher?
What edge rusher do we have available, chef?
Mm, your boy, Kled Lubin.
Louved up.
Kevin Tompkins.
If we're going to anybody, I like Devin Tompkins.
I don't feel like we should force edge rusher.
This feels like a reach.
Thank.
Okay.
I'd rather grab Linehild to run the ball.
All right.
All right.
Let's grab Lance Hurd.
Let's go Lance Hurd.
I love how the check gets so fired up from Cleve Lubin every time.
Yeah, you got it.
It's the best.
Yeah, you got to get fired up for Clef Lubin.
71.
Let's see the edge market now.
Can I see Abasari?
Chita Abasari from USC
Keen out of Jackson
Wendell Gregory is interesting
more that outside linebacker type for Kansas State
Weatherby is more of a powerful edge
So if you want somebody kind of like behind Carl Granderson
Right
That's somebody that you would go with.
William Helt
William Helt is there
William Helt
Now if you want somebody who's more of a speed demon
Prince Willemont Meyellen
has been a speed demon
type of pass rusher this year.
You know, 71.
I don't know if that ends up being rich for him.
I mean, we'll see.
We'll see how the year continues to progress for him.
But your boy Dom Nichols,
I don't know if we pick him here at 71,
but just some guys to shout out at edge rusher.
I think maybe we wait and edge.
Yeah.
See if we get some value at 101.
I really like the way Damon Wilson
gets off the ball.
I do.
I know we're kind of waiting for Miami's schedule
to get really interesting.
Right.
And I know he had like, what,
three of his sacks were against,
he had three sacks against Clemson.
Yeah.
He's,
we had expectations for him coming into the year
and I thought he had a pretty quiet start
the first couple weeks.
And now he's looking more like the guy
I thought he'd be there.
He gets off the ball.
He's got good speed.
I'm not saying,
we have to take him here, but he kind of went on the draft roller coaster of like super
interesting coming to the year. People were out on him early, and now he's starting to look
like the guy I thought he'd be. Can we see the roster really quick, Chef? Let's see just the
overall roster. Who do we got here? Okay, so like Lance Hurd's going to be at that right guard
spot. Actually, the should be switch. Calvin Banks Jr. should be the left tackle. Fugga should be
the right tackle, but we can fix that in a second.
Porta is going to be at that tight end spot.
So I like the offense there.
Let's go to the defense.
Let's see the defense here.
Chris Cole will be a linebacker.
Let's, can you show it to me in a 4-3 instead of a 3-4?
That's so awesome.
Yeah, it's good there.
So Chris Cole, yeah, is going to be at least in there for Stutzman,
depending on just like what we want the linebackers to do.
Yeah, Chris Miller.
you'll have Devon Hamilton,
Brian Brazzi will be in the mix as well.
You got Chase Young, Carl Granderson.
We've got some...
All right, let's see, corner.
I think it should be corner or edge.
I really do.
I think it should be cornerback or edge rusher here for the Saints.
Yeah, we need to get more talent on this defense.
Man, I guess edge rusher is just far and away the way to go.
We don't really have a corner who makes a ton of sense.
You know, if we get Zeke Barry at 108...
Dude.
8.
Zeke Barry played so well last week against Indiana.
I'm doing my tape breakdown on him for NBC this week.
He's a good player.
He was awesome.
Awesome.
He's a good player.
I bet we can get him with this next pick here.
You're probably right.
Which edge rush you want?
You want Damien Wilson?
You were talking about him a little bit.
Kind of because do they have a guy with his kind of profile?
Like a true...
Not his first step, no.
That's what I mean.
Like a true pass rushing downs kind of player.
Yeah, all right, let's go, Damon Wilson.
Yeah, go in Damon Wilson from the University of Miami.
And then come on, Zeke Berry.
Come on, Zekeberry. Come on, Zekeberry. Come on.
Make two is he want to wait.
He went, didn't he?
Oh, my gosh.
106.
Oh, what a cruel world.
Pain!
This thing stinks.
Nuk it.
All right.
Let's see Corner.
Chris Peel is still here.
You want to, but, man, I feel like it's a corner drop off here.
Yeah, this didn't go our way.
Christian Gray could make sense for him.
He's up and down, but I mean, the good games are really nice for Gray.
And if you're picking 108, I think that you're, and you're taking a chance on a corner like that, I don't mind him.
I think he's somewhere in the fourth, fifth round range.
But what about a, what about a safety?
Can we see, can we see safeties here?
All right, Bray Hubbard.
Eli Bowen, no, wait, Peyton, or am I thinking about Peyton Bowen, which,
one's the corner. Eli Bowen's got to be corner. Eli. Yes. Yes. So, I mean, we could
Payton plays linebacker. Okay. So we could. Or does he play safety? I thought Peyton Bowen played
safety. Yeah. You're right. Eli's the smaller, much smaller. D. So if we, if we take
Eli Bowen, we have the ability to be like, okay, maybe he could play corner for us. Maybe he can play
safety for us. Now, we get into the unknown of like, a, you know, he's he a homeless player,
like what we'd say here on this podcast. He's not really a home position. And how do they use
Sanker? Yeah, Sanker goes back to this. Right. Right. Hmm. What's best available? Let's just go,
let's just go to best available as he was on the board here. Amad Hardy, Jamal Roberts,
both of these dudes. I think it would be nice.
Because Kendra Miller, I mean, we're not resigning Kendrae Miller.
Alvin Kamara's not going to be on the team.
You got Travis A. Chan, but I think Ahmad Hardy's injury prone.
Probably going to be gone.
But Jamal Roberts is a really nice third down and change a pace back last year.
And Jamal Roberts has been a really good back this year with Amad Hardy being hurt.
I actually like this year.
I'm with you.
I'd go Jamal Roberts.
Yeah, we didn't sign a like third down type of back.
I think maybe they have the ability to do that.
But yeah, let's go Jamal Roberts.
It's a big small robber too.
And then we can send the rest of it, just as we kind of,
we'll do more rounds of fixture franchises,
the closer we get to actual draft season and everything.
So, all right, can we, is this the part where we can edit it?
Tyler?
Oh, yeah, it is.
Okay.
So, guys not talking about Hardy being injury prone.
I was talking about Travis Hitchin.
Yes, right.
So I want to clarify that.
Good clarification.
So when you were doing the NFLSE off-season simulator,
which the cool kids are calling it Moss, by the way.
Maybe we should start calling it Moss.
Mock, it's an acronym, Mock off-season simulator.
I like it.
I can roll with that.
The kids are calling it.
So we're going to call it the NFLL-S-E-Moss, the off-season simulator.
When you get to this portion, you can change the roster.
So it's not just, oh, I drafted these new players in our team.
You can choose who's starting in these spots.
So, oh, look at that.
We got Deuce Robinson.
So change Deuce Robinson and the wide receiver three spot to Devon Valet,
because we definitely need to do that.
San Leport is obviously the starting tight end.
Juan Johnson, Oscar Delp.
We like that.
That's good.
Can you scroll up really quick?
Put Lance Hurd in a guard.
Travis A. Chan.
Jamal Roberts is back up there.
Okay, that works.
Okay, let's go to the offensive line.
Talisei.
Actually, can you just,
For my OCD, say, can you flip the left tackle and right tackle there?
Just because that's where they play.
Kevin Banks, Jr., there we go.
Offensive guards instead of Dylan Radin's,
Lance Hurd.
It should let us pick him.
Oh, did it not?
Because he's a rookie?
Just go down to L.
Yeah, it's an alphabetical order.
There it is.
There he is.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, okay.
I like that.
I like that.
And then on defense, let's switch it on defense.
Chase Young Carl Grannerson, Damon Wilson, right behind him.
Good, makes sense.
Christian Miller, Devon Hamilton, Brian Brisee.
Okay, don't mind that.
Defense looks a lot better.
Yeah, linebacker.
We got Caden Ellis.
We got Chris Cole.
Pete Warner's obviously there as well.
Quill McKinstree.
Quincy Riley's more.
of a
you think he's more of
a nickel back?
I was going to look
how they're playing
them and what we do with
Emerson.
Yeah,
Cassanker.
Can we click
nickel really quick
chef?
Just so we can see
who they have
in the nickel spot
if we have to change that.
No,
no, yeah,
just scroll up
and click the
yeah,
the nickel defense button.
So Riley.
So then I would want
Riley.
Riley's playing
outside this year
exclusively.
Okay, so then
they're probably playing Sanker than more times in the nickel.
But we don't have another backup safety type,
so Sanker's got to play that safety spot.
Right.
But I don't, I don't.
Oh, Lorenzo Stiles could potentially play in the nickel.
I guess.
Just because of the speed, it's speed demon.
Yeah.
I'd rather have our corners on the field.
But I don't think Emerson could play.
Nickel. I think I'd switch him.
What do you think? You probably have to ask Riley to play Nickel.
To play Nickel next year instead in this situation.
I think his skill sets better than that or better suited for that, yeah.
Just to get our best players on the field.
Right.
That's what I'm saying.
Okay. All right. I like this. I like this.
One thing we'll try to fix going forward is that guard,
tackles playing guard doesn't count as out of position.
No. So the way that we have the way that we have the back end formula set up right now is if you were to put a wide receiver at guard, it's going to tank. Like it's not going to work. The simulator is going to know that. Your run game is going to be atrocious. But if you put an offensive tackle at guard, yeah, they're out of position a little bit, but like it's not that big of a hampering or at least it shouldn't be.
we'll see in the simulation.
Maybe it's, maybe it's bad, but that's not supposed to be.
So we can tweak it and make sure that it's better a little bit here.
Okay.
So, yeah, let's, oh, the computer's got to sign some players for us.
Restructured, restructured set starter.
Oh, for kicker.
Yes, yeah.
Okay, all right, yeah, yeah, I'll apply these moves.
So if you get to this point, and obviously you have some players who are, you don't have your
roster filled out or you're over the cap. The computer will help you make sure that you get cap compliant.
And it should save all your changes. So you should be good to go. And when they add players,
they'll just be a little bit further down. So, okay, let's do it. Begin 2027 season. Let's simulate
this bad boy. Let's see how the New Orleans Saints did. All right, 01, good start. All right,
02, good start. Come on now, Saints. Let's go. There's the win against the Titans.
Yeah, wins against by, yeah, loss against the box. We know how that goes. All right, one and four. Damn.
Okay.
Two and four.
Not a good start.
But hey, you know, new coaches, new coaches first year.
We need time.
It's always going to be a little, it's always going to be a little bit tough.
It's going to be a little bit tough.
Come on, let's go on a little bit of a run.
We're three and six.
Let's get hot.
Let's get hot.
Stay hot.
Don't let us get hot.
Five and six.
Don't let us get hot.
Don't let us get hot, baby.
Come on.
Buy week.
All right.
Bad time for the buy.
Let's go.
You know, seven and six.
We told you.
We just needed some time.
Eight and seven.
Come on.
Believe it us.
Finish strong.
Finish strong.
10 and 7 didn't make the playoffs.
10 and 7 didn't make the playoffs?
In that division where you only need seven wins to win it?
What happened?
The Falcons.
The Falcons made the playoffs from the NFC South.
The Buccaneers didn't even make it and they swept us twice.
Man, that was thrilling, though.
I haven't felt like that in a while.
That was incredible.
I haven't felt like that in a while.
went on a rush. See, guys, that's what it's all about.
I go to the casino tonight. Dude, see,
I can find that field again. See, you just
you sign a young coaching staff.
It takes them a little bit of time in the beginning of the season.
You get better. You go on a run.
Ten and seven should have made the playoffs.
Dude.
I got to catch my right.
Catch right, bread.
I don't smoke cigarettes and I need one.
People who sit in the chatter like, what a rush.
Hearts pumping.
Dude, that was awesome.
Okay.
You know what we're going to.
do. Yeah, this just this taught me that we need to have the Super Bowl bracket that's right there,
obviously, but then if you scroll down, I want to see the standings. I want to see all the teams.
I want to see, I want to see how they did. And I want to, I want to, I don't want, I want to,
I want to make sure that we can see it because I want, I got, well, I got to complain.
Well, I mean, what in the world did the Falcons finish with record wise? Because what did we go
against the Falcons here? What do we go against the Falcons? Do we get swept by the Falcons?
No, we went one-on-one. We tied.
the Falcons.
And we put boot to ass 35 to 17 in the last game of the season.
Dude, they put up over 40 against the Bears.
At, isn't it at Chicago?
This one's at Chicago.
We're coming off the by week.
We stay hot.
That was an insane run.
Like, people are going to, man, the championship VHS would have been so good for this team.
Dude, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rob, your robbery.
Let's sim the playoffs.
Let's see who won.
Let's see who wins this.
Man, that was exhilarating.
And again, you guys can go to nflSC show.com backslash offseason,
and you can do as many of these as you want.
We're working through, obviously, the beginning stages of it.
We just put this bad boy out there about a week ago.
And so we're really just starting to work through all the improvements and the bugs and things like that that that we want to do.
Oh, we can see the standings.
Hold on.
We can see the standings here.
Oh, this is what we're looking for.
Bro, 10 and...
So many 10 and 7s.
God, the values...
Did we lose on a tie?
Did we lose on a tiebreaker?
We did lose on a tiebreaker.
Yeah, that's tough.
God.
That hurts a little bit more.
Damn.
But hey, what a debut for Rudinsky and Co.
Bro, hold on.
Scroll down.
Did Tampa go like 3 and 2?
No, okay.
Seven.
Or 3 and...
Man, NFC was pretty strong.
wrong, though.
It was.
It was.
You never know what the NFC.
Oh, okay, there's Arizona.
Wait, there were still a five-win worst team.
No, the Dolphins.
Didn't the Dolphins win two games?
No, in the NFC, I'm saying.
Oh, yeah.
The NFC was strong.
NFC's a juggernaut out here.
I think we were the last team to not make the play.
That's team out.
Come on, man.
Damn.
Damn.
Damn.
All right.
There you go, folks.
Fix your franchise New Orleans Saints.
Hopefully, you guys.
Enjoyed that. Season complete. So we went from 6 and 11 last year to 10 and 7 got absolutely robbed.
Should have made the playoffs. We're going in the right direction, though.
When you guys finish this up, you get a nice little card to showcase your new coaching staff,
how you did, the changes that you got on the roster, who you signed all that fantastic stuff.
So check it out. NFLSysh.com backslash offseason. We would love for you to use it.
There's a little feedback button at the very top, which you guys can give us some feedback on it to make it even.
better. You can sign it for an account. And if you sign it for an account, you get some
extra cosmetics. You can make the simulator look a little bit different. That you can use your
favorite team's colors, all that great stuff. And if you go over to NFLSC show.com
backslash draft, and you see, the chef's showing off the new colors and everything.
If you go over to the draft and the mock draft portion, if you have an account, you can earn
badges, you can get on a leaderboard for drafting really well from your team. It's all great
stuff. If you've made it this far and you're not subscribed to the show, would love for you
to be. Subscribe to NFLC.
and come hang out with us every single time that we go live.
We've got a mock draft coming for you guys in a week,
so we'll be using the mock draft simulator for that as well.
And we'll get to all the great player rankings, player breakdowns,
all that great stuff as we get closer to the draft season.
But this is a fun one.
Fixing the New Orleans Saints always really enjoy these shows.
Appreciate everybody getting in on this and making the chat a lot of fun today.
You guys are always here, and we really enjoy these fiction franchises.
That's super chats that we'll get to in the after the episode portion of the show.
But Connor, anything else before we get out of here.
I feel proud.
I feel proud about what we get here today.
Because it is us against the system.
And I include the chat when I say us because you guys always have a voice.
And shout out to the Saints channel on our Discord that got involved and was super helpful.
Yes.
That was thrilling at the end.
I mean, to see the results are work got us.
And now I'm kind of pumped to do another one of these already.
I know.
We got some teams.
in the pipeline, right? The bucks are flurting with it. The Jets are flurting with it. Sadly,
sadly, that's why this show exists, because that's the case too often. Colts, obviously,
Texans, I mean, we've got a lot of teams that we could get to here for the 2026 Fix Your
Franchise series. But like I said, if you guys are watching this show live, stick around.
We'll go through the super chats in the after the episode portion of the show. If you're watching
after the fact, those will be posted as part of the mailbag episode that we do at the end of the
week so you'll be able to see that on Friday. Like Connor said, shout it to everybody that's in the
Discord. If you guys want to get in on that too, you can. The link is in the description of the show,
but it's such a really cool way for us to not only connect with you guys who love the draft and
the offseason everything, but also those team channels. I want to be better about getting into
those team channels as well before we do these fixture franchises. So love that you did that.
Love that we got the fan voices here in the show because it's what it's all about.
Of course, this is the two of us in front of the microphones, but it's a show about the
community, it's a show about the addicts, and we hope that you guys feel that way all the time.
For the chef behind the scenes, producing it all, making it look so fantastic and run as smoothly as it does.
For Connor Rogers, I'm Trevor Sycamas saying thank you guys so much for watching this episode of the NFL Stock Exchange Show.
We will see you guys later this week.
