with you here in the middle of free agency. We're in the trenches, baby. Chaos all around us. Chaos, contracts, coping. You're going to get it all here on this show. What we're going to do is we're going to take some of the early moves that we've seen in free agency and talk about what that means for the 2026 NFL draft because Connor, my goodness, man, we've already got some major shakeup. We've already had trades. We haven't even necessarily talked since the Kansas City Chiefs traded Trent McDuffie. All right, there's a first round pick that changed hands. The Max Crosby trade.

There's another first round pick to change hands. But so many team needs have changed during the tampering period here on Monday, buddy. The Jets made a ton of moves. And I already know that you're like live with Sims like in the middle of the day. So how you doing, my friend? Were you able to pound an uncrustable before we got to this show? Dude, you bet. Absolutely.

Good, good, good, good. Have one just defrosting, ready to roll, keep things moving, jump into this chair. Can't wait to break down free agency with you because we are going to look at it also from that draft lens, like the true sickos we are. You said coping at the top. And right there, right in front of us, is Mike Evan signs with the San Francisco 49ers. A day I truly never thought would come. Never thought it would happen.

But this is what Todd Bowles does to a man, unfortunately. And I think that's where we are. I've been there before. I know you have. I know you have. It's tough to watch history repeat itself. It is. You know, the Titans, by the way,

what was it called when you get the shopping cart and you run through the store and a certain amount of time limit and you have to stuff it with stuff? What, guys grocery games? No, I don't know if that's the one. The chat will have my back, but it feels like on food network?

That one? No. Like that show? No, I forget what it was. It might have been supermarket sweep. That sounds right. Yeah. No, I don't know what this is.

It feels like Brian Dable and Robert Sala did that today. With items they've owned before. With the items that they have owned before. They were like, oh, I used to love these cookies. Throw them in there. You got John Franklin Myers back with Sala, Cordell Flott and Wondell Robinson and Daniel Bellinger back with Dable. Yeah, they're got.

I saw a tweet. I saw a tweet that was like, why don't we go after all the players that got us fired? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which obviously I hope they're a lot better. for the Titans. We're to talk about the Titans, or we're talking about the Bucks, we're talking about the Niners. We're talking about so many teams because a lot of stuff changed here over the last shoot a week, but like specifically the last six hours.

I think a ton has changed since the tampering window has a wait, are we calling it the tampering window? Didn't they change the name? Oh, God. Yeah, well, now you can have like FaceTime stirring it. It was like the negotiation window that they have officially changed. Well, because they do not like the word tampering. we've gone soft. It's all gone soft. Yeah. Well, the tampering happens at the combine.

That's true. The negotiating window opens up today. Free agency starts Wednesday. Yeah. Oh, people are saying that Tua to Atlanta is actually official now. Okay. We thought that it was, we thought that it was going to happen because that was one of the first dominoes to fall, which is very interesting. I feel like outside of the fact that they're left-handed, this one doesn't really make a ton of sense. Tua and Penax just played the position completely differently. Tua is somebody who is all like over the middle of the field won't throw outside the numbers type of a quarterback and Michael Pennix is only outside the numbers

never throws over the middle of the field as a quarterback. So that one was just very funny to me. It makes sense financially because you're getting Tua on a right then minimum, but that's kind of funny. Maybe it's, and you know how much I love Pennix, but maybe it's a little hint at Stefanski,

you know, kind of getting a different kind of quarterback for his offense. So, I mean, I hope Mike comes back strong and develops into the quarterback he could be. But it's always tough when you're a former first round pick that's hurt with a new regime and staff. It's just an uphill battle out of the gate. Not that Tua invokes fear into your job. Who knows at this point, dude? I know.

I know. I know. Quarterback is so, like, it's so much more fickle than you would think, even with the amount of money that they're giving these quarterbacks. So obviously you guys can tell that we're off and running here on this show. it's going to be a jam-pack show, mainly because it's going to be heavy chat-focused. Yes. For these shows, because we've got a show here on Monday, and then we're going to have another show on Wednesday in the middle of the week.

It's heavy chat-focused. So a lot of you will send in super chats, and then we'll read them at the end of the show. For the next two shows, that's not what we're doing. We're going to talk about some big free agency signings. A lot of guys go to and from some new draft strategy, all that kinds of stuff. I think he'll be, you know, he's going to, he's going to, to be a fantasy darling and that generates external or even more hype and yeah it's the train has left the station but i get it veney it took a little while to get there for a six year college player odd estimate said it already taller than trav meaning your son already taller than me that's that's that's that's that's that's the day to do this to you i was going to say like have i not have i not endured enough have i not been through enough today you are on the ground

and on estimate walked by you and put his hand down and then a roll hold it back through his hair when you went to grab it for a handup. Insane. Absolutely. Completely ridiculous. Austin gave a $5 super chat. Said first time super chatter here. Appreciate you, Austin.

Thank you. Chiefs taking downs and a falling McCoy because we as fans of other teams cannot have nice thing. So that goes into a little bit of the chiefs and sort of what's happened over the last week with them trading Trent McDuffie, which holy cow man, you want to talk about a team going all in. The Los Angeles Rams are about his all. in as it can possibly be, as it can possibly get with what they've done over the last week.

And then also retaining Cam Curl, signing Jalen Watson as well from the Kansas City Chiefs, signing Trent McDuffie-Tway market setting cornerback deal over $30 million a year. Crazy. But in doing so, they traded number 29 to the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, what was it? how the safety from the chiefs who just signed with the Bengals

Ryan Cook? Yes, yes. So like now a safety is gone from the chiefs as well. They could absolutely double dip at secondary. I think Dale Downs is absolutely on the board for them now at number nine overall. He might be a heavy favorite to be honest now that they've signed Kenneth Walker

and like Jeremiah loves not in their plans anymore. So I absolutely think that they're eyeing downs if he makes it to them. at number nine. Yeah, the Rams have all of a sudden built a secondary that's more expensive

than like half the team salaries in baseball right now. And I don't blame them. They were all in on winning the Super Bowl, and that was something they had to do. Mediocrity incarnate. I didn't want to miss this one.

Trev, we all know the bucks won't be bad enough to get a blue chip prospect next year. Who do you want at 12th overall in 2020? I'm sad, man. I feel like George Michael from arrested development walking all sad with his head down.

It is a bummer. I'll do plenty of funny coping here. on the show, but in all seriousness, like, Mike is a Mount Rushmore type of a player for the Buccaneers franchise. He's also just, when I was covering the Buccaneers as a beat reporter, he was always very nice to me, very welcoming. And like, he was the star, man. He was such a franchise star and everything that he's done for the Tampa Bay community. He's just an unbelievable dude.

He deserves this chance to go after another ring. The sad part is, as a Bucks fan, is that to me, I think that this decision very clearly less about the money because he signed for three years and $60 million, which was very matchable for the Buccaneers. I think that he specifically doesn't believe in Todd Bowles, which I could fully understand. But I also think that if he really thought super highly of Baker Mayfield, he's still in Tampa. And I think that that his actions today speak pretty loudly of he does not really love the direction of where this team is going. mostly with head coach, but I think the Baker-Mayfield equation is a little bit into this one as well.

So it's a bummer that Mike is not a buck in here anymore. I felt as though he was going to be a buck wire-to-wire. But I hope that the substation or whatever rumor is not true and that he stays fully healthy and he gets another 1,000-yard season this time with the San Francisco 49ers. Who do I want the bucks to draft at 12th overall? Well, in 2007. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

I think it was like partially joking. I don't know if they are. Hold on. Cook, young man. I'm going to look at the consensus board. I could not answer this question. What do we have here? Leonard Moore? Yeah, I mean, if he makes it 12,

yeah. Sick. I know. Colin Simmons? Colin Simmons? The edge russia from Texas? Good with that one, too. Those are about the only names that I recognize outside of quarterbacks,

which they're not going to be picking high enough for a quarterback. Oh, you draft Cam Coleman to replace Mike Evans. All right, now I'm sad again. All right. Oh, no. Okay, what free agency direction do we want to go here? Who do you want to talk about first? Well, we're going to get into some drafts, right?

Oh, wait. There was a super chat about the Jets. Yeah, Tony Lee gave us a $10 super chat. Said, Connor, how are we feeling about their after day one so far? Jets should be better against the run with their additions. Need to fill out that guard spot before the draft. Odds the Jets trade for BTG. I think you mean BTJ, the classic super check.

Brian Howard. Okay. Gotcha. All right. So for the first part, what I expect them to do is go more volume than stars, in quotes. And that's what they did. They got bigger and tougher in the front seven and got Mika Fitzpatrick because they just,

it's such a funny way to describe it, but they just made adult moves today, Trevor. Like watching the Jets for most of the season, last year, especially the second half, you'd watch them in the first quarter and they were so uncompetitive on defense. they'd average like giving up two touchdowns in the first quarter the easiest drives you'll ever see and the personnel for the most part did not match really what Glenn, Glenn's style in Detroit. So yeah, like you look at a sigh, right, into Mario Davis and Minka.

These are just floor raising moves. You're going to have to draft your stars. You need a star at two. You're going to need a borderline star at 16 and, you know, a good player at 33 and 44. So what they did today was kind of rounded out a defense that was uncompetent. last year where Tony's right. It's about stopping the run and being able at some point with the guys

you draft to create some turnovers, which you literally didn't have an interception last year. As for BTJ, this is really, really interesting because it's so obvious Jacksonville is just completely soured on the player where you would think a lot of teams are calling on him. Right. I don't know what the pro.

I would think it's a day two pick at this point, which is such a bad return on investment for Jacksonville with him. But, you know, in the Jets still, we don't know who their quarterback is going to be. It sounds like a lot of rumors around Gino Smith again, which is kind of funny. But they need...

Yeah, they're running out of options, man. I like... I obviously was very high on BTJ as a prospect, and he was great as a rookie. He was disappointing last year. You just wonder, like, are you going to play Adonai Mitchell in that role next year? I know BTJ's better.

I know that. But what kind of asset are you surrendering for BTJ in a role that you might like? like what Adonai could do if you draft the number two. I'm not saying to not get him because you have Adonai Mitchell. That's not the point. It's just going to come down to the cost and what it would run up to. If he gets traded, I feel like he's going to get traded for a third.

Like that's where my mind goes. And the Jets don't have a third. So it would be pick 44 for them. Right, right. But I feel like if a team's giving up a second round pick for him, then they kind of have to more serious. ask the question, okay, hold on, why is this player available? That's exactly right. And so, in reality, Brian Thomas Jr. shouldn't be getting traded for a third.

But if he's not a part of the Jags plans, which to me would be like, it's a red flag. I don't think you can sit here and just go, oh, he's not a scheme fit for Liam Cohen. No. Bullshit. Right. Like, he's just a really good wide receiver. If the Jags are trading him, it's because they probably don't believe in the player. So at that point, what is a guy whose team is already giving up on him going for?

Yeah. I don't think it's a second rounder. I think if he gets dealt, it's for a third. And if it's for a third, then that's kind of buyer beware anyway. So the BTJ situation is very, very interesting to me for that reason. Yeah, it's interesting for a lot of teams, not just the Jets. You know, you have the Giants out there looking for a number two wide receiver right now after losing Juan Dale.

There's plenty of teams that would be in that market. but thank you, Tony. And just a solid day for the Jets. Not spectacular, but good business from a volume perspective. Mr. Jack gave us $2. So the bear signing linebacker and safety definitely points to them drafting a defensive lineman. So it wasn't just. Kobe Bryant.

But it was it was Kobe Bryant, Devin Bush. That's right. They re-signed to Marco Jackson. But they also signed Neville Gallimore, which I had somebody on social media asked me, like does the Neville Gallimore signing keep them from taking a defensive lineman in the first round? No, not at all because Neville Gallamore

specifically isn't attacking like one gapping defensive tackle and they need to get better in run defense 1,000 percent. So, no, I don't think that that changes things there. Selancy with the $10 super chat said Trevor's Matthew McConaughey from Interstellar banging on the window while screaming

no to Mike Evans. That's actually me just rewatching the third and 28 that they gave up in that game where Mike walked off the field screaming third and 28. I mean, it was over from that point on once, once ownership got involved and didn't want to move on from Todd Bowles. Catalyst owls.

That's kind of funny. I don't think that that's going to happen. But I do think that Jeremiah Love, there's a good chance you could potentially go to the Tennessee Titans, number four, maybe even the New York Giants, number five.

I think that's kind of on the table as well. I will say, nice piece of business by the chiefs getting Kaira Tanga from New England. It is indeed. That's like a sneaky one where I was like, They're being careful and cautious of how much money they dump into the defense, but that's the right kind of move. I agree. I definitely agree.

Do you think Downs the pick here? If the board falls this way, do you think Downs the pick? Yeah, he should be. I think so too, because what's there? They have, oh, who's the guy that they drafted two years ago? So they have Jaden Hicks,

who I'll full hand up transparency here. When I was doing, I think it was the PFF mock draft, I talked about how I wasn't sure if they would be super interested in Downs because I thought they really liked Jaden Hicks. Because I was thinking about him after his rookie season, how they were super excited about him. They were really excited to draft him. He was able to play a lot as a rookie. He looked like he was an ascending star at safety. And then last year, I didn't realize this.

He couldn't get on the field. Which is wild. They started taking him off the field. So, yeah, I think the Downs is absolutely here within their plans because they're secondary. is it's Chamari Connor Christian Fulton Noel Williams

who I think is going to play outside for them Chris Roland Wallace Mike Edwards is a free agent Jaden Hicks that's about it I take downs here yeah it's downs

You know what's a weird one for me with them? I do like Colton Hood a lot, especially for this team. A weird one for me with them is they've invested plenty in wide receiver over the years, but I don't love their, I don't like their wide receiver room. Well, you shouldn't.

Right, it's not like a hot take. I'm the first person ever to say that. Unless you love Jalen Royals, I like Jaylon. I do. I like Jaylon Rose. I think he could be number three for you in the future.

Trevor. We came into this thing like, how do we rebuild this defense? And Colton Hood is right there. And it's spags. Colton Hood could play man. Yeah. That's big.

Like that's why the Rams just paid their guys all this money. They think they can be an improvement at corner and man coverage for them. Colton Hood was excellent for Tennessee and man coverage. Some people are talking about Peter Woods. I'm struggling with Peter Woods right now. And we'll redo the Detackle group pretty soon. We didn't do it.

Christian Miller is, we said it on the last show, right? He is the least talked about good player in this draft. He really feels like it.

I'm not sure Georgia fans, no, but outside of them, it's like, everyone's like that. Whatever. No, so, okay, they, they just signed Tonga, who you mentioned was a really good signing for them. Let's go, let's go, Colton Hood. Yeah, Colton Hood, he's a good fit for them. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So that brings us to 40. What do we got, 40?

So Linderbom, sorry, so Mendoza can just kind of like learn behind him. But everything that SpyTech is doing, he is trying to do the right way with a rookie quarterback at number one overall. Again, that was the last regime that drafted him in the second. round. That was not this group. So I think that they could still like Femmy as a depth player,

but not want to have him start for you in all situations. So I feel like Malachi Lawrence is more of a somebody said that they did draft him. No, Robert Sala just. Oh, okay. Borgonzi did. Okay, okay. But I think that the, I think the coaching staff totally changes that. Yeah. And this is a staff between Sala and Aaron Whitecott and their D-line coach that like they throw their weight around when it comes to the D-line. Yeah. We've seen some linebacker Domino's fall already, but I think that position just in general is one that's slower to go in free agency. If I was the Jags would I rather have a defensive tackle or kick Trayvon Walker inside.

And the problem is, like, Linderb... And maybe this changes, but with Linderbom, he had so many suitors that he was always going to be able to do that.

And Devin Lloyd deserves that. He's a hell of a player, but you just, you have to have this insane market to be able to get that kind of deal. And that's probably what the holdup is, if you really want to kind of blow that market. get out of the water. So, and if he doesn't, then the best scenario is him going back to Jacksonville. Yeah, I mean, it's not. great when you miss the entire season due to, well, not the entire season. No, no, he missed part of the season due to a hamstring injury.

And you still can't do anything at the combine because of said hamstring injury. He clearly re-agravated it. Because it's been so long. Sure. But that goes into it. 100%. Like if your body isn't great with soft tissue injuries, that's not great. So, yeah, I mean, I, you're right.

What had changed in that organization. You got the right guy at the top leading that organization, man.

Thoughts on the Crosby trade for the Ravens. Do you think two first round picks is a good deal for them? Also, congrats Connor. Do you think the baby will be good to suit up next week? Or suit up in week one now that our entire offense has left? I'll let you answer the baby question there, but I think I don't hate it for the Ravens. I like it more for the Raiders.

I don't hate it for the Ravens because you do still have Lamar Jackson and I'm very much pro when you have a Super Bowl caliber franchise quarterback. Just maximize the window, man. Just go all in on it. So Crosby is about as big of a competitor as you're possibly going to get.

He's going to be a great locker room dude for you. He's going to motivate the team to be great and want to win a Super Bowl. So all of that, I think, is really good for the Ravens. Two first round picks for a 29-year-old pass rusher is a lot of money, even for a player who is as good as Max Crosby. But at least they are a team that is in a winning window with a franchise quarterback. So I do like the move for the Ravens. I liked it more for the Raiders, to be honest with you. I was pretty even. I think this is exactly what the Ravens needed to do. And I think it's the right timing for the Raiders to make this trade and get the assets.

But I think Max Crosby is going to be a monster for Baltimore and potentially take them to the next level. By the way, the Raiders are not stopping. They just signed Quay Walker. The Raiders also signed Quay Walker? They just signed Quay Walker. So they have a totally new linebacker room, which you said, Trevor, like literally an hour ago, you're like, they don't have anything a linebacker. They quite literally don't.

Yeah. And then they, they've made two massive moves, which I'm fascinating. to see the details of this deal, but they, the Raiders are really revamping this roster, knowing they are getting the quarterback. Whew. Wow. Big moves. Yep.

Big moves there from the Raiders. All right, handful more. Can we get out of here? Yeah, a couple more. Okay. I got an important one. Randy Booth. With Alec Pierce off the board and the Eagles asking for Conner's firstborn,

Did Juan Jennings sign anywhere? No, I don't think he did. No. So I think Juan Jennings is kind of like the AJ Brown light, right? Like, if you don't get A.J. Brown, J. Wan Jennings is of that same style of receiver. Right. So I like both of those options. Juan Jennings, Romeo Dobbs.

I like both of those. That makes sense. Somebody asked, oh, why Fields over Saraff or Las Vegas invest in the center and more to make Mendoza comfortable in transition? Why not give him his favorite target? Yeah, I mean, you can. It's just I think that Fields is more of a field stretcher for you.

Like, he gives you more vertically. And I think that they've got some guys who can win underneath. I think Naler, I think Jack Bash, I think the tight ends. can win in the short and intermediate. And I think the field just gives you a little bit more of a vertical stretch on top of Trey Tucker, who they already have. So that was my, that was the reason why I did that.
