Oh, Joe, the Steelers are hiring Mike McCarthy as their next head coach.
The Steelers owner and team president, Art Rooney, the second, cited McCarthy's previous accomplishments as a head coach
and his ability to develop quarterbacks as a difference-making trait.
The news of the Steelers intent to hire McCarthy was met with overwhelmingly negative response
from fans on social media.
Rooney response,
where we're really not worried about winning the initial press conference
is about picking the coach we believe will help us win games
and social media really doesn't enter into it.
And none of that matter once we start playing games.
The message for our fans is we're very excited.
We think we have a coach who's well equipped to lead us
into the next winning phase of Steelers football.
And with that, and that's what it is all about.
I think we're going to love Coach Mike.
Ocho, do you like the hire for the Steelers?
I mean, I like Coach McCarthy in general.
I mean, everywhere, everywhere he's gone.
He's had some success.
He's had success with the Cowboys, but never did get them to the promised land like he
wanted to.
He had success even in the Green Bay.
Never did get them to the promised land like he wanted to.
He went with Aaron Rogers.
I mean, he did.
He won with Aaron Rogers that one year.
So, I mean, that's why I said he's had success on the places he's gone.
I like the hire.
But again, what are we doing?
What are we doing with the quarterback situation?
I read somewhere I saw something about the, he likes what he sees from Will Howard.
No disrespect to brother Howard.
I don't think he's the answer for the future.
I'm just saying, and me and knowing and watching quarterbacks over the years that I've not only played but watch this game in general and knows what it takes to be a quarterback in the NFL, I don't think he's the answer.
Maybe I could be wrong.
Maybe he can prove me wrong.
But if he was the answer, I'm sure they wouldn't have to bring in a 42-year-old Aaron Rogers.
maybe it's the inclination in bringing Aaron Rogers back so they can have that one more shot at again being that they're familiar with each other Aaron Rogers and Coach McCarthy but again I mean the higher is good is the coach that has that that is used to winning you know he's he's won before but again until you fix that situation at the quarterback position it's just going to be the same thing I look at it like this Ocho the man had Brett Fav and
Aaron Rogers, Dack Prescott, 18 years.
He's had exemplary quarterback play.
He's got one Super Bowl to show for it.
He got three guys that's won seven MVP's.
He got one Super Bowl to so forth.
Look at all the receipts.
Look at all the great players that he's coached.
Look at what he had.
When he had Jamichael Finley, when he had Donald Driver,
and he had Greg Jennings, and he had the white kid, the young man.
Jordan Nelson
Derek Deck
Jordan Nelson
Randall Cobb
James Johnson
Look at what he had in Dallas
Look at all the players that he had
So Aaron Rogers,
Bradford,
Dak Prescott,
Zeke Elliott,
all those guys what he's had
Got one Super Bowl to show for it
Hey, I got a question though
When we break it down, right
and coaches that are available
for these positions
and I mean,
who else would you hire though?
You think about it,
especially if
if we're going to bring up the resumes of what these coaches have done in the past,
the only higher where people would be accepting of what they'd done in the past
based on resume and accolades would be that of Bill Belichick.
And he's not walking through that door become coached Steelers.
I think the people, you know, from talking around the league, they don't think he, you know,
they don't think he can win without Tom Brady.
They don't know how well he relates to the modern day player.
Right.
I know people say Brian.
I mean, I'm just saying.
Guys, let me ask you this.
If a guy was suing your company or the company you're affiliated with, will you hire him?
You know Brian Flores had a lawsuit pending against the NFL, right?
Oh, do we know that?
Oh, did we forget?
I think a lot of people might have forgot that.
Well, let me first remember.
He has a pending lawsuit against the NFL.
The cough drop.
Hey, you know what?
I think people have been spoiled too.
People have been spoiled by watching the
Patriots over the years.
Super Bowl always being in attention,
I think people have been spoiled by the
goddamn big the Eagles and the success
that they had as of late.
Obviously not this year.
I think people have been spoiled by the chiefs
and the success that they've always had
with Patrick Mahomes.
Not really understanding,
Unk, how difficult it is
to consistently win
or how difficult it is to actually reach a Super Bowl.
And seeing these things,
teams go in a short amount of time over and over, they think it's attainable every single
year.
It's, well, you get guys like Brady and Mahomes that make it look so routine.
People think, well, why can't everybody do that?
No, it's not easy.
What Tom Brady did for two decades is not easy.
What Patrick Mahomes is done in 10 years get to five Super Bowls and win three is not easy.
No, that's crazy when you think about it.
That's crazy.
Y'all can't be talking about, y'all be talking all you want to.
I'm just saying real, I'm just asking you chat.
So if somebody is going to sue your company, the company that you work for,
would you hire said individual?
Why do you think you ain't nobody called John Gru, no, Joe?
John Grue got a law firm.
John would be a nice one.
John is a good player's coach that a lot of players.
You don't think the shield is the shield.
No, the shield is these 32 owners.
And if they lose this case, 32 owners are going to have to pay.
Hey, man, I got a goddamn fly in the house, man.
Why do I hate the Steelers?
I'm trying to figure out why I hate the Steelers.
The hate days for the Steelers is long, long, long, long, long, long.
Yeah, I mean, I've never hated, I've never hated the Steelers.
Well, you had to if you play for the Raven.
Oh, even, even doing, oh, yeah, oh, yeah, I understand.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, but when you look at the coaching, I mean,
Who else?
You think about it.
If it wasn't Mike McCarthy, then who?
I mean, I think fans would have been upset.
I mean, I hate that Clint Coobie guys go,
I sure wish Clint could have got that job at Baltimore.
But I think, I think the thinking.
Baltimore?
Yes.
In Baltimore?
I think that, can you imagine, you see how he dialing it up?
I'm thinking that Steve Bishott is thinking,
well, I have Lamar Jackson.
Lamar Jackson has won two MVPs in two different systems.
So it doesn't matter who's coaching him on offense.
He's going to be great.
I need somebody to fix this broken down defense.
I'm thinking that's how Steve Bichotte is thinking.
Now, I could be right.
Right.
But that's what I'm thinking.
And I think that's why he went defense instead of offense.
And I want Clint to get a job so bad.
But man, if he go to the Raiders, he ain't got no quarterback.
Why would you think he'd take that job?
Why would anybody take the Raiders of the Brown job?
I'm not going to the ground.
I'm not going to the ground.
outside of the chance
I don't listen these these
situations are opportunities
don't present themselves often so I'm going to take
the job knowing I'm only be there
for two or three years true
for what I guess I guess they're looking at like you know what
they're going to get the number one pick the Raiders
they'll take Mendoza and Clint
can work his magic with that
I'm thinking that's what they're thinking
I'm being honest I'm thinking that's what they're thinking
I would take the Raiders job
only if we're taking Mendoza
Yes, and we get number three from Dallas and bringing on over there to pair with Brock Bowers and Tray Tucker
That's it now if that's not happening I'm good
What D.K probably kicking himself
Why?
He had the Steelers the team he just left going to the Super Bowl. What you mean? Why?
Can you imagine you go to New England and Cincinnati go to the Super Bowl?
Boy, you'd have lost your damn mind
Well, actually, it was the opposite way.
I left Cincinnati when with the Super Bowl.
But you already told about you felt.
You didn't feel a part of that.
You were a Bengal.
I did.
I didn't.
I'm always a Bengal.
That's what I'm saying.
So imagine the Bengals go to the Super Bowl.
Yeah.
Hey, I would have got on.
You get over.
Shit, me.
They would have gave me one.
I would have got one made.
Art Runeing the second set on Steelers Head Coaching Search.
We wound up bringing three guys in for in-person interviews.
Brian Flores, Mike McCarthy, and Anthony Weaver.
And then we sat down and talked about whether we had our man.
If we wanted to bring more people in-person interviews,
we decided that Mike was the man for the job.
So we went ahead and offered him the job on Saturday.
The Rooney Rule, they brought three coaches in.
Two are African-Americans.
The Rooney Rule is named after them, which means minorities,
get an opportunity.
They did it.
They hired Mike Tomlin.
Now they interviewed others.
They felt that Mike McCarthy was the best for the job.
Two guys are defensive guys.
And they said, we want somebody that can develop a quarterback.
We have yet to develop a quarterback since, you know, Ben Rothersberger.
But they had Ken Wisenhunt and they had Bruce Ariens.
I hope it works.
I told you.
You should put your name in a hat for one of your coaches.
jobs. You would have got picked up quick, boy.
I want no part of that.
People are already
criticized Mike McDonald
because he says he sees a kid
about 30 minutes a week.
And everybody's like, that ain't no flex, that ain't no flex.
Well, tell me the coach. Tell me the coach.
Every coach always says the same thing.
The kids, you know,
and you know what you sign up for
when you marry a coach.
You know he's not going to be your line
like a regular guy on a 9-to-5.
So the wives or girlfriends or
Whoever is accepting of that.
Every coach that I know
burn the midnight oil.
Yeah, always.
Hey, listen,
blankets and pillows in the rooms.
Blankets and pillows
and all the coaches' offices
because of the time spent,
game planning,
watching film,
preparing the car queue cards
for the next day.
I mean, so hearing that,
I saw the clip too.
And I saw the coach saying
I want to know,
how much time you think the coach
actually spends, Ocho.
He actually spends at home during the season.
A little bit of none.
A little bit of none.
Because some nights you don't even go home.
If they wasn't going home back then,
I know damn where they're not going home now.
Simply because of the preparation it takes
to prepare for a game week to week,
especially as games like this.
You get into the profession, you know.
Where it matters even more?
It's a thing, Ocho.
Maybe I'm gonna be here all week, baby.
I'm not gonna see you.
You and the kids can come on and stop battle.
Yeah. That's probably what happened.
They probably need dinner.
I might have dinner in his office.
Yeah.
But I don't have no problem with it.
And now look what they are now.
Because of the time he's put into work.
When they, if they win the Super Bowl,
you get to make up all that time you miss during those six months.
You understand what you signed up for,
depending on who you date.
I want to know the guy that makes that kind of money and he works a nine to five.
So tell me,
because that's the job I won't now.
Tell me the guy that works nine to five,
he works a normal hour and make that kind of money.
Yeah, how much you make?
How much we talking?
What coaches make,
somewhere between $10 and $20 million a year.
Oh, and a nine to five?
So that's six months out of the year, nine to five, six months,
20 men a year, 11, 20 me in a year.
So that's my calculator.
That's about, okay, carry the one.
Yeah, there ain't nothing out there like that.
Of course not.
Not no 9 to 5.
But when you do sports, it's just like reporters.
Do y'all, hey, y'all miss deadlines,
y'all make it seem like y'all be there for every event for your kids.
Who was that's a sport?
I'm trying to figure out I want to know the guy
that every recital, every PTA, every game, everything that they were there for.
Even the most doading and loving dad, I want to know the one,
that if he played a professional sport, if he was a coach,
that he was there for everything that the kids did.
Like a father that's at a 9 to 5.
Because normally when you get into these jobs,
you already know what comes along with it.
The same thing I tell people, when they talk about, you know,
I want to do this or I want to be in sports,
I thought, okay.
You okay working weekends?
I don't mind working weekends.
What about holidays?
Man, you know, that's what don't this ain't for you.
I don't know if you notice.
They play sports on holidays.
Are you okay with not spending a holiday with your family?
Okay.
Find something that allowed you to spend holidays and weekends with your family.
This ain't for you.
Sports not for you.
Mm-mm.
I mean, I obviously those, I mean, for the, for the,
person on that's probably not used to it, maybe doesn't understand what it comes to the sacrifice
that comes into not only being a player but being a coach, they probably won't understand it.
They probably won't understand it.
There's no explanation that can be given where they will understand it.
They just won't.
What it commands, the sacrifice it takes, for one, to have the success that coaches had this year.
No, I just, I can tell people to talk about it's just football.
I can tell people that's never, never played anything.
You got the 9 to 5.
Who said it's just football?
Yeah.
Somebody said that?
It is.
Do you?
No, it's, no, yeah.
To people that play in life or death.
Man, please.
But like I said, I want y'all to tell.
That's how you pay your bills.
I want them to tell me the guy that was a professional, that a professional athlete or
coach that was at every
event
for the child growing up.
So they made all the PTAs,
they made all the recitals, they made
all the practices, they made everything.
You can't.
Because guess what? There are some guys that work 9 to 5 and can't
make it because they got to pull over time.
Y'all say anything to try
to get in and we got so many sheep that just fall.
Yeah, you're right. That ain't no flex.
That man chose this.
And to be great, you got to put it.
If all you do is work nine to five and you will not be great as what you're,
as a professional athlete or a coach.
Now, you can work a nine to five and be great at your job working 40 hours a week to each his own.
I don't begrudge anybody because I work the nine to five.
Well, it was more than nine to five, more like seven to seven.
But anyway, you get the idea.
Same.
But for me, I wanted more.
I didn't want, and there's nothing wrong with that,
but I didn't want with the nine to five
because I couldn't provide for my family with that.
My grandmother had worked long hard enough.
My grandma had slept on that terrible mattress long enough.
It lived in that house long enough.
That wasn't enough for me and my brother.
And this is the type of shit piss me off.
Somebody in the chat.
So now we glorifying absent fathers.
So everything we're saying is just going over the head.
because that's, yeah.
Hold on.
There are a lot of fathers.
They don't,
not a professional athlete is not there.
Anybody glorify no absentee father?
You just understand there are certain occupations.
Are we not?
Are we not listening?
Are we not listening?
You just explained it in depth.
They don't want to.
How it is for those that are part of certain world
and certain occupations and certain jobs.
It comes with what you do.
But be a stay-at-home dad.
You laid to the.
show, bro, we already talked about the Broncos losing.
You late to the show, bro.
We are out of a half.
We're 90 minutes into the show.
You're talking about we're talking about the Broncos losing.
Oh, yo, we just spent 35 minutes talking about the Broncos losing.
The bill's promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady as the next head coach earlier this
week.
The decision to fire Sean McDermen and elevate Brady rather than clean house is now under
heavy scrutiny.
Ocho, are you confident that Joe Brady is the guy?
I mean, what's the goddamn difference?
He was already there.
Hell, you might as well have kept me,
you might as well have kept Mr. McDermott.
Joe, that don't make no sense to me.
Yeah.
If you're a head coach and someone that's under you,
you know,
I mean, if you find McDermott,
why the hell everybody else ain't fired?
They want a different voice in there, Ocho.
Man, come on, nah.
Come on, nah.
I don't understand how Brandon Bean kept his job.
I don't know how he kept your job.
Yeah, that's what I need somebody to help me explain that to me.
Because it seemed like Sean McDermott caught all the criticism.
And I get it, you know, Mr. Maggoula, you know, he's supporting his GM because he gave him a more uptitle.
But those players, I think, you know, he wanted to put, what's the key, Keon Coleman.
He put that in the lap of Sean McDermott.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
A new voice.
That's the same voice he's heard.
Look, I think Joe Brady did a phenomenal job.
Yes.
I think the thing is, Ocho, is that Sean McDermott,
you know, his defense, they've been one of the top offenses,
but defensively is kind of where they falter.
Yeah.
And that's his level of expertise.
Remember, they fired Leslie Frazier.
Yes.
Yeah.
Leslie Frazier was our decontinator in Cincinnati too, huh?
Yeah, Leslie Frey.
Yeah.
Chris Frazier.
So what's the, what do you think?
Super Bowl or the bus this year, Ocho?
For the bills?
I mean, well, hell, that was supposed to be this year, huh?
This year, this was the easiest route for him.
You ain't had to deal with three or three of the better players
out of the AFC.
You know, so maybe next year, maybe next year is a little different.
Maybe he can run the gauntlet.
He can beat Mahomes.
He can beat Burrow.
He can beat Lamar Jackson.
I ain't bet nobody.
We don't know.
We don't know what next year is going to look like.
But hell.
And what the bills need?
Receiver, a one.
They got a one.
I think the thing is, look, there's too many turnovers.
This was on Josh.
This one's on Josh.
Because Josh is really good in the postseason Joe.
He hadn't had a turnover in season,
playoff games.
he picked the worst time to have the most turnovers he's had in a very long time
it's hard to win on the road with five turnovers and four of them is at the hand for your
quarterback now guys fumbling and stuff like that ain't really a whole lot you could do
about that but this this was on Josh's watch so it's it's tough and you know um Sean
McDermin I know Sean McDermine Ocho and I was talking about look this grandstanding he knew
he couldn't challenge that he knew that call the call what it was
was and he knew the you know you gotta survive the ground but he knew I they
probably had they if they didn't flat out tell him they had probably alluded to you
gonna need to get to the Super Bowl in order to stay in the job you probably
probably you probably knew that oh I knew because we I talked about this in
Ocho Ocho you laughed at me because I told you in October he's like you think brother
McDermott I said oh yeah absolutely yeah you did you did see it was out of there
if they didn't win what I tell you about what I tell you about what I tell you
about the Steelers and the Ravens.
The coach your situation.
Harbaugh. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
New voice. You said. Loud and clear.
Yeah, Harbaugh been there for a minute.
He's been there 18 years and Tomlin had been there 19.
Damn.
Stigatz here. I have a podcast empire. It continues to grow.

Oh, my boy, Matthew Stafford.
Where did his vote Knicks at?
He ain't too far behind.
He did all this talk.
What Matthew Stafford is doing statistically.
bro, it's crazy.
Bro, you know I ain't no
Josh Allen fan,
but Matthew Staff
forgot him.
Better weapon.
Caleb Williams.

The Browns.
Oh, show, have hired former Ravens' Offensive
coordinator Todd Munkin to be the next head.
Coach Monkin, who spent the last three seasons in Baltimore,
will become the Cleveland's 11th full-time coach
since returning to the NFL in 1999.
In Monkins' first season with the Ravens,
he helped Lamar Jackson win his second MVP in 2023.
Despite the great success in 23 and 24,
with Monkin as Ravens OC.
As Lamar O.C., Munkin had chemistry issues
during the previous season,
as reported by team sources.
Monkin demanding coaching style,
clash with Lamar's preference.
Ocho?
Yeah.
How do you see Todd Monkin handling the battle between Shadour and Deshaun
if he couldn't deal with Lamar?
Well, listen, he's had some successful Lamar.
It doesn't matter who coach Lamar.
Lamar is going to be who Lamar is.
Joe, you can go out there and coach Lamar.
He's going to be the exact player he's always been.
He's going to be that two-time MVP type player
that can change the dynamic of a game at any point.
Monk is going to have to get in his bag over there in Cleveland.
Do more to that. He's going to have
he's going to have to get in his bag
as an officer coordinator and have
a plan. I'm not sure what that plan is going to be.
I'm not sure who you're going to go with, whether
Deshaun Watson, whether it's
Dylan Gabriel or whether it's your door
Sanders. But he's going to have to find and
find out very quick who's going to be
the quarterback number one in the team.
And after that, then you
forgot what you're going to do in the other
surrounding areas offensively, where you need
need help and they're going to need a lot of help. I have no problem with the hire itself.
He's had success obviously with Lamar, but there is no Lamar Jackson in Cleveland.
No. There is no Lamar Jackson in Cleveland. Therefore, everything Todd Monkin has to provide to help
those quarterbacks, he going to have to be in his bag, huh? He got to be in it. Remember, he won two
national championships with Stetson Bennett as a quarterback at the University of Georgia.
Hold on, Matt.
Wait a minute.
Stetson Bennett as his quarterback on a Georgia team that was loaded on goddamn defense.
Now he has, he's going back to a team where they're loaded on defense.
Now, the Achilles here for the Cleveland Browns has always been on offense.
If you can get that offense on point, just meet him halfway on.
Just maybe somewhere Joe in the middle of the pack.
He ain't got to be top five.
You got to be top five.
Just meet us half goddamn way, please.
They got some promising young talent, though, Uncle Ocho.
Please wait.
Hey, hey, what's the titan name?
Fannie.
Oh, Fannie.
Boy, that-Hall Fannie Jr.
Damn it.
Hey, that young boy, that young boy there.
Boy, hey, Joe, he is the real deal.
Yes, sir.
And speaking to Cleveland Brown, a, eh, um, if I see Miles Garrett,
anywhere in Santa Clara,
yeah, he got to see me.
What, he gave you a jersey away.
Joe, he sent the jersey to the Hall of Fame instead of getting it to me.
No one I asked for at first.
Man, we told you he were going to do that.
Hey, Joe, hey, Joe, I'm for the Mollywhopping, Joe.
I'm for the Mollywhop.
Hey, hey, Ocho, leave that long, let they go.
No, no, no, no, you don't disrespect me like that.
You told me you was going to give me the jersey.
So that means you're supposed to be a manny of word and give me the jersey.
I don't care who asked for it.
If I ask first and you say yes, now I got to whoop your ass.
Well, I don't think he's going to be ducking on smoke.
Yeah, but he ain't got a duck.
He ain't got a duck.
He ain't got a duck.
He gonna get what he looking for.
Okay.
He think he had 23 sacks.
It's going to be 24 when I get done with you.
I think the thing is for me, Ocho,
let me know what you think, Joe.
I think it'll be easy.
It's hard to coach superstar quarterbacks.
It's hard.
It ain't easy.
Ask anybody that's ever had to coach him.
You think it's easy coaching Don Brady?
Now, it makes your job easy,
but they're going to need to know.
They need to know.
what you're telling me is on legit.
They got questions.
They're going to need you to give them answers.
Not while I get back to you.
No, you better find you better know the answer.
It's not easy coaching these guys now because these guys are brainy.
I mean, you talk about Lamar and Lamar like,
Lamar like, hold on.
Who are you yelling?
Who you think you're talking to?
And I'm so glad you just mentioned that too.
Well, how hard it is the coach, quarterbacks.
And I'm not sure if you've seen the clip.
Joe or unk I'm sure you saw the clip onk I know you seen it before but got damn Bill
O'Brien and Tom going at it on the sideline yeah Brady going down the sideline chat I don't know
if you guys have seen that clip you know so if they went at it like that on the sideline
would you think happen in practice oh yeah yeah a Joe one of the greatest times of my life
being in the New England Patriot is goddamn Bill O'Brien and Tom Brady going at it in practice
straight. I'm talking about you think I'd be messing up cursing on here sometimes.
Oh, Tom occurs now.
Hey, a, uh, Joe, I was sitting there smiling ear to ear. I'm like, oh, what ain't really
like, cause his ass out, Tom. Hey, they were talking about going. I'm like, oh, this is how it is.
No one of these dudes win all the goddamn time. Everything got to be right, Joe. Yeah.
Everything has to be perfect. If it's not perfect, you're doing it over. And you're not doing the
playover, you're starting the whole period over and doing it again.
That's what was expected of everybody, especially offensively.
So when things didn't go right, Tom got on Bill.
When things didn't go right, Bill got on Tom.
And they kept that standard no matter what.
And it helped me understand, well, God damn, no wonder they went all the goddamn time.
And, oh, I wish you could have been there to see that, I ain't never.
in the history of all the time that I played the game of football,
ever seen a quarterback and the coach go at it like that.
But it was awesome.
And from that point on, the rest of practice, he maxed.
Oh, you got to have a standard.
Not one mistake, not one drop ball, no nothing.
It just everything went smooth.
We went out there.
I forgot who we played that week.
Man, we put up by damn there 40 points, Joe.
Put a band of 40 points.
Oh, that's, yeah, we went to Super Bowl.
Yeah, we won the Superolet year.
There has to be a level of expectation.
We all lost two there, Ojo.
The Giants.
The Giants, man.
Oh, Eli.
Yeah, Eli caught up with that man.
Mario Manningham on the sideline and gets covered too.
Yeah, on the side.
He dropped it in the bucket, Ocho.
He dropped into the bucket.
That was a beautiful throw.
Damn.
Yeah, that's what I'm, look.
You know, being around John and being around Mike,
because Mike was like that.
For real?
you might get away if you drop one
in a team period
drop two started over
yes, sir.
I let Lord please do
all I'm saying I don't want to be the one
right right
man boy look here
Mike was hell man
there's a
when I say he said don't accept anything
in a win you wouldn't have lost
yeah he meant that
we had to have we had to get
hit it.
I mean, run, catch any pass.
I don't give a damn if it was a down flat.
You finishing 40 yards, 40.
Yeah, and come back.
And they got to run back.
Yeah.
But then you like, okay, now understand why we do it.
You get a greater appreciation for why you do things
and you see, okay, so this is why the 49ers have success.
Because they were, they were like the Patriots
in the 80s.
Yeah.
You're like, okay, now I see, now I see.
Who.
Brown's defense, according to Jim Swartz,
might be out of the door after the team hired Monkin
as his head coach, according to Tom Pelliserro.
Pelliserro reported that Swartz,
who's one of the three finalists, was visibly upset
and said goodbyes in the building
and told other coaches he's not coming back.
Opposing teams are reportedly ready to pounce
if he leaves also.
Miles Garrett just posted on IG.
That's a bro sitting down like, damn.
Hey, Joe.
You see that lady that working Papa,
I see how she looked?
Yes.
That's just how I'm going to have Miles looking
when I catch up to him out there
in Santa Clara, just like that.
Miles was like, man,
just got me a unanimous defensive player of the year.
I was playing good with this man
and this situation for what y'all do.
Hey, hey, um, come on now.
You know, man, listen.
Anybody, you could have been coaching that Brown defense.
Miles Garrett still would have got them 23 sacks.
He still would have been an all pro.
In matter of fact, even if Mrs. Swartz is leaving,
whoever comes in to take over that goddamn defense,
you got the pieces in the personnel where you're going to be all right.
You got the pieces in the personnel where you're going to be all right.
That was the top five defense all season long, now.
Right.
They, they, they ain't shabby at all.
Yeah, no, I checked them out a few times, don't you?
They did, they think.
Oh, they're good defensive.
They're good defense.
Very good.
They just need some pieces of offensive.
They need a wide receiver.
They need offensive line help.
I'm thinking Joku's going to leave, so get another tight end.
Do you really?
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's why they got fanning in.
It don't hurt to have two of them, Joe.
Yeah.
You can find you one at the fourth or fifth round.
Now, hey, a fanning.
Oh, I like it.
I like him a lot.
He nice.
You think in Joku going to require too much money?
They're going to move like you said, they got, they got fanning.
So you know, we go draft the tight end.
We get him on a low number, run a lot of double tight end sets.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Look at the Patriots.
They got Hooper and they got Hunter Henry.
You look at the bills.
Team, you know, it definitely helps.

The Baltimore Ravens are hiring.
Los Angeles charges defensive coordinator
Jesse Mentor as their next head coach.
Yeah.
As a chapter reports,
Mentor is signing a five-year deal,
a five-year contract.
Mentor was immediately viewed
as one of the favorites for the position
and was an assistant under John Harbaugh
in Baltimore from 2017 to 2020.
Ocho, the Ravens' defense hasn't lived up
to the standard of hard-nosed defense.
We expect them, Baltimore.
Was this a safe pick?
for the Ravens or was it the right pick for the Ravens?
It's the right pick for someone that's already been around there
that knows what it's like to play like a Raven,
a Raven, understanding that moniker,
understanding the rich history in which those defenses
have always played with since the early 2000s,
trying to bring that back,
trying to bring that culture back of defensive players
creating a certain atmosphere
when you come to play the goddamn Ravens,
bring two chin straps.
That's what it was like during our time.
bring two chin trap because they're going to be a game of straight physicality,
being able to dominate on the defensive end.
Obviously, you have Lamar Jackson in the offense and what they're able to do,
but they need to bring their identity back and being the Ravens of old.
Even though we're in 2026, this is the right coach to be able to do that.
He knows defense.
He understands that he has a defense in mind.
And obviously, they're going to be some changes that are made.
They need to, obviously, address the issues on that front end because, hell,
You got Marlon Humphrey, you got brother, you know, brother Wiggins.
If I was running routes for eight seconds, I'd be able to get open too.
Because they ain't put no pressure on no goddamn body.
But I think he was the right coach.
He wasn't a safe one.
He was the right one.
So I'm hoping he does, you know, that team justice, that organization justice
and get the Ravens back to what we're used to seeing them on the defense end.
You know, when you say play like a Raven and the defense used to
to be, you know, Ray Lewis, Hall of Famer,
ain't coming through that door.
Ed Reed, Hall of Famer, ain't coming through that door.
Former defensive player of the year
and future Hall of Famer, Terrell Suggs,
ain't coming through that door.
Yeah.
Lodi Nata, not coming through that door.
Yeah.
They don't have the same level of defensive talent
that they once had.
And I think that's where it starts.
And you mentioned upfront, I think they need,
they need edge players,
they need somebody that can get to the quarterback.
Yeah.
And they haven't had that on a while.
Calvin Oyer turned back the high of the time two years ago and had a career year.
Yeah.
But to expect him to be that when he's only been that one time in his 10, 11 year career,
I think you're asking a bit much.
When the guy they traded to the charges, he leaves the Ravens, have zero sacks,
goes to the charge and have seven and a half in about six weeks.
Yeah.
So I don't know if it was scheme.
I don't know if he was unhappy.
I don't know what it was.
But he looked like a different player.
Yes.
And with the charges than he did.
Now, obviously, he got better players around him.
He got Khalil Mack.
He got the Samoa sensation.
They got guys that can float.
They got fast-ass linebacker with Paramount and Henley.
They got Derwin James, who's basically Kyle Hamilton,
Derwin James, okay, I can see that.
But my only question is, okay, you get a defense in mind.
Steve Boshat is familiar with him.
He's been in the building for about four years.
He left and he came back.
who are you going to get as an offensive coordinator?
That's important.
That is the most important thing.
Now, Lamar said he wanted Clint.
He liked Clint Kubiak.
He loved the way he attacked the field.
He loved how he always stresses the defense.
They didn't hire him.
Now, he's not leaving Seattle for a lateral move to go to Baltimore.
So I just don't know who they're going to get as an offensive coordinator.
Right, right.
But they definitely need some players, Ocho.
They've got to get, they've got to get.
Hold on.
I don't like when you say it like that.
You said they need some players.
They don't need just some players.
There are a lot of players to go get.
They need, hold on.
They need impact players.
Impact players at Pacific positions.
The first level and the second level.
First level and the second level.
I'm not sure who you can get that can play the nine technique.
I'm not sure you can get at the middle backup position
because sometimes Rokwan Smith gets exposed on passing down
because that's not what he does.
He's not good at that.
Roquhorn Smith is a very, very good linebacker.
I think it would have been much better during our era.
Yes.
It would have been much better during our error.
So, I mean, listen, I like him, but they need improvement.
Tremendous improvement, you know, and this is, I'm not biased because I'm a Bangal fan.
I watch the Ravens, you know, in depth and watching them play.
And I know what improvements they need to make defensively for them to get back to where they need to get to.
They got to meet the offense halfway.
Just half of it.
Because they were at the bottom of the league.
They were.
They were.
They were.
They were.
They were.
They were.
Even though they got better as the season went on.
Well, I mean, I would hope they couldn't get worse.
I think the thing is that like when you have that level of defense and what the Ravens fans are used to.
Yeah.
They had Ray Lewis for 17 years.
They had Sugs for like 13, 14 years.
They had Ed Reed for over a decade.
You had a Lodi Nata.
They're used to the Rod Woodson and all those guys that were there that started this.
They're used to that level of play.
And they're not, they don't, look, you're probably not there's,
there's a less than 0.5% chance that you'll find another Ray Lewis.
Yeah.
Or Ned Reed.
You talk about two of the greatest players that ever play this game in a hundred plus year history.
Yeah.
So let's just set that to the side.
But I think you can get some players that are better that, that, that can do,
that can perform at a level that are better than what they performed at.
That's unacceptable.
Mm-hmm.
That's unacceptable.
Now, I, I, I hope Lamar comes.
back healthy.
He had a short season.
He didn't make the playoffs.
So hopefully he gets those hamstrings healed up.
He's ready to come back.
But I'm really anxious to see who the offensive coordinator and what type of system
they're going to run because that is the most important thing.
Lamar Jackson is your most valuable asset.
The best thing you can do is put him in the best possible situation for him to succeed.
That gives you the best chance of winning.
Now, once you go, you can do it.
get that lead, Ocho, having us a sustainable defense.
Yeah.
Because think about all those leads that they had.
Remember, they had a 15 point lead
and they ended up losing the Buffalo.
Think about all the lead.
They had a lead to the Patriots and lost that one.
So we see a real current theme about,
especially over the last two years that get the lead,
but unable to hold the lead.
Yeah.
And so the offensive coordinator is going to be very, very,
I thought they would go an offensive route
because they went special teams,
route and John Harbour to hit it out of the park.
You couldn't ask for anything. They got 18 years
out of them, a Super Bowl, many
division titles, and some playoffs.
And so with Lamar Jackson,
I thought they would probably go offense and give
him something. Right. But the
offensive coordinator is going to be the most important thing.
Who do you get to coordinate that offense
that can take, that
can be most beneficial
to Lamar,
that receiving core, and you got
Derek Henry.
What
What type of offense are you going to run, Ocho?
What are you going to do?
That's the most important thing.
Yeah, most definitely.
And you know what?
Also, I wouldn't mind.
I wouldn't mind.
I wouldn't mind.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Yes, absolutely.
I'm talking about the outside guy.
We know they can play on the outside,
but he's more of a slot guy.
He can dominate the intermediate and show around.
He's small.
Yeah, I would love someone on the outside.
That's a dog.
That's young, maybe a little bit right outside their prime,
but still good enough.
to take over a goddamn game at any point.
I'm just trying to solo, oh, Joe.
Yeah, it's just hard.
I mean, you've got to be really, really special
to be that size and be play outside.
I mean, they're not a whole lot of five, nine guys.
I mean, you talk about a Steve Smith
or you talk about a Tyreek Hill.
You talk about guys with exceptional.
Tyreek had just, just God gives natural speed.
Steve Smith was just flat out.
He played with a different type of mentality.
Mentality, yeah.
So, I mean, and to be outside, to play outside them numbers and to be that boy, you got to really be that boy.
But I'm really anxious.
I'm happy for the Ravens.
We're going to see what they do in that division.
Joe, Joe Burroughs there.
We don't know what's going to happen with Aaron Rogers.
Does he come back to the Steelers?
Does he move on?
I don't know if he's going to want to come back 41, push him about to be 42.
Right.
And he's not pushing the ball down the field.
And when you don't push the ball down the field,
because in order to push the ball down the field, Locho,
you got to take some licks.
Yeah.
And when you get old, you don't like you.
Think about it.
As you get old, you don't want to fall.
You don't want to do anything.
You become very, very careful.
It's hard to be careful on the football field, Locho.
It is.
It is.
It is.
And matter of fact,
and wanting to take the shots down the field,
it makes it very, very different when you only got one person
that you can use to do that.
And we saw that with the absence of D.K.
Mecalfe, the damn offense got damn, you know,
it stalled in a sense because there was no one that could take the top off the coverage.
Correct.
And you got the damn there, go 11, 12, 14 play drive, but making and knocking.
You do.
So the next question, who do they hire as an offensive coordinator?
And I wonder if they, Steve Bichotti, you know, like, hey,
basically, and I'm paraphrase.
phrasing here. Yeah.
Say Lamar does have some power, but he doesn't have as much as me.
So yeah, I will take, I will listen.
I will take some advice, but the final decision comes down to what do I want.
Yeah, it sounds good.
It sounds good.
I was hoping to get an offensive guy.
I'm talking about one of these offensive gurus.
I was really hoping that, Ocho, but hey, Steve knows what he would look for.
Obviously, he saw something when the guy was out with there, and he saw something.
So yeah, I think I think I think Rashadi also understands that we need to get a
defense of mind in here to help us with this goddamn defense we need somebody to help us
with the goddamn defense and get us back to a respect level that we used to have defensively
the offense is going to take care of itself Lamara healthy Lamar is going to be able to
take care of itself regardless of who we bring in there to run our offense we're going to
be fine because we have one of the best three five quarterbacks in the NFL we going to be
are right in that area.
But they got damn defense,
being as bad as they were at the beginning of the season,
man,
we ain't going to be deadly squad.
We couldn't,
we couldn't be the sisters of the north
with that damn defense they had.
They,
I think the thing is,
and because Lamar Jackson is one of,
MVP with Greg Roman,
he's won an MVP with Todd Monkin.
Steve probably thinking,
hell, we can get anybody here.
That's Lamar Jackson.
He's that special.
Bingo.
And I really do,
Ocho.
And that's not to,
that's not to be dismissive or anyone.
Because I think, you know, it takes something.
I mean, that says something.
But Greg Roman has coordinated a Super Bowl offense.
Remember, he had Cap.
Yeah.
He was the OC when Cap went to the Super Bowl
and there was a throwaway in the end zone
from being a Super Bowl champ.
So Greg Roman, I mean, you look,
his offense is a little mundane sometimes?
Yes.
I thought Todd Monkin did a very good job with Lamar.
given this year Lamar was not healthy,
but I thought he did a great job.
Yeah.
But, I mean, now he's with the Giants,
and, you know, he has Scatab,
I look like he's going to have, you know,
be with John and the Giants,
and they got Scataboo,
and, you know, they got Malik neighbors
if he comes back healthy,
and I think Wondell Robinson will be there.
I like the tight, I forget his name.
But, uh,
I think they have,
and Jackson Dart,
I think he could do,
because look,
he's a two-time national championship
winning an offensive coordinator
with the Georgia Bulldogs
and what he did with Stetson Bennett,
who was two-time offensive
most outstanding player
in a national championship game.
Yeah.
So the Baltimore Ravens hired Jesse Mentor,
the former defensive coordinator
for the Los Angeles Chargers
to be the next head coach.
And if he can have a tenure similar to John Harbaugh,
Steve, you've done it again.
Done it again, yeah.
Ocho, the chat wants to know where you got that t-shirt from.
Oh, this shirt, hey, for those in the chat,
I'm sure you're probably laughing at it because of all the colors.
But if you have your phones on your hand, you can Google.
This is the legendary, the iconic Mexican goalkeeper by the name of George Campos.
That's J-O-R-G-E Campos.
You know, you look at, yeah, yeah, or Jorge or George, however you want to say it.
But he, I'm talking about a legend, a true, a true legendary goalkeeper from Mexico.
He sent me, he sent me this jersey.
It's signed on the back.
So I'm wearing it tonight.
Obviously, I'm going to be wearing vintage and current and 80s, 70s soccer jerseys from now on for the rest of the time.
So you're always going to see stuff that looks kind of weird that's from back in the days.
but if there's anybody in the chat that's Mexican,
obviously you know who George Campos is.
For those of you that don't, you can Google him,
and when he pops up, you'll see all his shirt and his attire
was always very flashy, like Libera Rocha.
Very colorful.
Yeah, very colorful, yeah.
Rojo, Clint Coaghan.
will reportedly be one task to turning around the Las Vegas Raiders.
According to Adam Schaefter,
after meeting Saturday with Las Vegas and Arizona,
Seahawks' offensive coordinator intends to try to work out
a deal to become the next head coach of the
Los Vegas Raiders.
No deal can be finalized to after the Super Bowl.
But Clint wants to coach the Raiders
and they want him to be their head coach.
Now it's only a matter of time
before the two sides can formalize a deal.
It seems to be the going rate
in somewhere between five and seven years.
You're probably looking at somewhere
between $8 and $12 million.
Yeah, the Kuwbiak would be $12.
But okay.
Yeah.
you like you like because if I'm not mistaken that the cardinals already had the cardinals hired
Mike LaFlema right yep yep mr. Flogga hired but so so you like you like this Clint
Kubiak to the Raiders but the whole problem is is the players it's the situation it's the
quarterback I mean the uncertainty obviously you know for Mendoza's probably going to be the first one
taken but you need more pieces than just that especially with Kubiak coming from it's easy for you
to be able to do your job based on where you are because of what you have with your personnel.
It makes your job and calling players or even being a head coach now coming to Las Vegas.
It makes it very easy.
But you're going to need those pieces that make your job easy.
That's the only problem.
That's the only issue I see.
Obviously, Mendoza is going to be the first quarterback taken.
The Raiders aren't passing on him.
What are you going to do with Matt Crosby?
Are you going to let Matt Cromby go so you can get some value back from him and put some other pieces around you on offense or maybe on defense?
There's so many pieces or so many holes that need to be filled in Las Vegas before you can be a team that can compete in that division, let alone in the goddamn league.
It's so many answers that need to be answered.
I love the hire.
I love the coach that you're getting.
But what does he have to work with?
That's the only issue.
I like it because they're probably going to have an ishton of money to spend.
The cap is going up $22, $25 million, $0.0.0.
They were probably already under the cap.
So you get Mendoza and I don't have to give up.
All I have to do is sign them.
I don't have to give up draft capital.
Now in free agency, I can plug some things in.
I'm going to need a receiver.
Is a potential that I can trade for A.J. Brown?
Is there a potential that there's a receiver on the market?
I'm just throwing out scenarios.
I already told you what receiver is going now.
And it makes the most sense because he's every bit of what a Raider is.
But go ahead.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And so I think they're probably going to have $70 million, $80 million in cap space.
The question is, and you pose a very good question, and we've been talking about it, what do you do at Crosby?
Do I trade him and get the draft capital or do I keep it?
That's the question, don't you?
I mean, allow him to go somewhere where he can contend.
And that's what I say.
Yeah, well, I'm sure somebody said to Max Crosby to the Ravens for Bateman in the first rounder.
I'm sure, I'm sure the Ravens would jump on that with both feet.
That's a good one.
I like that.
I think it's going to take more than Bateman in the first rounder to get A.J.
To get Max Crosby from the Ravens, oh, Joe.
That's just right.
But like I said, I've known Clint.
Basically, his whole life.
He used to shaggballs for when he was a, I mean, shit, he couldn't have been no more than in the mid-90s.
He couldn't have been no more than nine, ten.
Maybe when I left and I came back, he's probably 13.
So, and to see, it's always funny to see these kids, Ocho, to see him, to see,
uh, to see what he came in because he was a little kid sitting on my, sitting on my lap.
sitting on my lap at the Super Bowl, Super Bowl 33.
And now to see that he's one of the best players in the NFL.
To see Clint Kubi at.
To see Kyle Shanahan, we used to hold a chord for his dad.
I'm like, damn.
Well, one, I'm old.
And two, it's good to see those guys in what they've become.
That's great.
But I do, I agree with you, Ocho.
I do think, I do like this higher.
But at the end of the day, it comes down to,
You can have the greatest scheme ever,
but you better have somebody to be able to play in that scheme.
That's the issue.
That's the only issue.
You've got to have the right players at the right positions
and everything flows smoothly.
Cardinals made an official on Sunday announcing they have signed,
have agreed to a five-year contract distinction with Mike LaFleur.
LaFleur replaces Jonathan Gannon as the team's new head coach.
LaFleur served as the Rams offensive coordinator for the past three seasons.
While he didn't call plays for head coach Sean Payton, LaFleur,
dead game play calling experience in two seasons as the Jets
offensive coordinator.
Oh Joe, you like this time.
I like it.
One issue, quarterback.
What are we doing at the quarterback position?
Receivers, Marvin Harrison, Jr.
Can we get him back on track?
Mike Wilson.
Mike Wilson?
14.
Yeah, Mike Wilson, but listen, he showed up.
He showed up and showed out.
Okay, okay.
What can we get?
Marvin Harrison,
Jr.
Back to playing.
We got to.
Like we know he can play,
especially what we saw at Ohio State.
Can we get that?
Can we get his confidence back?
Brother Wilson,
is the real deal.
He is the real deal.
The only issue is,
what are we going to do
at the quarterback position?
In Jacoby per sec-
We got Trey McBride also.
Oh,
he's the best tit in the game, huh?
We can argue that.
We can argue that.
He can argue he's the best tit in the game.
But again.
Who you argue with?
No.
You're not.
But what are we doing at the quarterback position?
I'm sure Cala Murray gone.
Jacobi Rosset was a good feeling in the sense,
especially from a statistical standpoint,
if you look at his numbers,
even though they were losing.
Yeah, but I don't know if he's my long-term.
Now, he's not a long-term solution,
but he's something you would love to have him,
especially if he's one to be a veteran presence
for someone young,
if that's the route you go.
Right.
So we got the Raiders.
that's that's the last job right that's the only job that's left but we think the
raters are going to get filled by Clint Kubi so all the the head coach and vacancies will be
be filled oh yeah and it seems like the odd man out is Matt naggy because he didn't get one
he didn't get one of those jobs stagots here I have a podcast empire that I have brought here
