Hey, he needs, I know he's taking job really serious. I know he's trying to set the tone and show, listen, I'm not going to, I'm not going to tolerate any of the bull crap, any of the extra stuff, you know, on the court. But like, come on, man.
Starting point is 00:10:11 We, we, we ain't come to watch you. We ain't come to watch you throw people out. Unnecessary. Especially that early in the game. He's seen how chippy the game was, Ocho. He knew. See, Reverend knows if they don't step in right away, it's going to get out of hand.
Starting point is 00:10:29 All he had to do was give people warnings. You don't got to throw nobody. Warning. You see, hey, you're going to go on a game. Warrantling ain't going to do nothing. Ocho, they down 60. What the hell you wanted? Yeah, what the hell of what a warning?
Starting point is 00:10:40 Now, I'm ready to fight. We need to get thrown out. Yeah. We can't win the game. I'm going to win something. I'm going to tell somebody else up out here. Yeah. We're going to win something.
Starting point is 00:10:48 Yeah. I mean, I turned the game on. It was like 51 to 19. I'm like, what the hell is this? Hey, I'm watching the game. And I'm going to tell y'all something, man. I had floor seats tonight.
Starting point is 00:11:08 and I couldn't go because I had something to do with my kids. Man, I'm watching the game, and I'm like, after the first quarter, hell, I'm like, damn, we ain't come to play. We BSing. Man, we were stuck on 15. Them boy had like 51 to 15 or something like that. I said, damn, I'm thinking to myself. I'm like, I can't believe this.
Starting point is 00:11:31 I see the crowd. Dead as I don't know what. I see people starting to leave. Man, you got all the celebrities in there. I'm like, that one hurt, fellas. That will hurt. I ain't going to lie. That one hurt.
Starting point is 00:11:44 I'm talking about the Knicks really just, they came, hey, they came with no mass tonight. Yeah. Yeah. They chose violence. Yeah. I mean, look at all these plus these, minus 38, minus 43, minus 24, minus 29,
Starting point is 00:12:00 minus 36, minus 44. This is, I mean, I don't even know. I've never seen anything like it. So I don't really know. I mean, Joe, you could speak to like, in a situation like this, I don't know if you've ever been down that bad. I'm sure there have been some games that you probably been down 20, 25, maybe even 30 at the half.
Starting point is 00:12:17 But down 50 at the damn half, what's being said in the locker room? Man, ain't shit you can say. Look, at games like that, Coach don't even come in there and say nothing, hell. Hey, what are he supposed to say? Hell, the Knicks look like the 96 Bulls. Damn bridges and Edanoly look like Jordan and Piping out there. I'm like, damn. Bridges ain't had no good game the whole series.
Starting point is 00:12:40 This man couldn't miss. 10 or 12, 2 or 2 from 3, 2 or 2 from the free throw line. Cat had 12. He was a 5-2. Cat had another triple double. Cat had never had a way off triple-double in his career and got two in six games. And you know what's crazy?
Starting point is 00:12:58 As bad as they beat us in the first half, they came out in the second half with the same intensity. They did. I'm talking about still wasn't missing, and still shooting fast break threes. I'm like, damn. Well, y'all couldn't get nothing going over there, Joe. Nothing at all.
Starting point is 00:13:17 It was a bad night tonight, fella. It was a bad night. And you know what, Joe, the problem is that as well as you guys play the first three games, you guys look really bad the last half of that game three, but four, but, ooh, five and six. Starting point is 00:24:20 Don't worry about it. You're going to, hey, we're going to wake up. Oh, Joe, that man owes $700. And he said he not, he said, I'm not paying him. Hey, um, I did with him when I see him. Hey, hey, hey, who boy, I can't wait. Hey, hey, you're going to learn the definite. Hey, eh, um, every time I see Prime, it's on what?
Starting point is 00:24:39 It's on site. Every time you see Prime. Every time I see Prime, it's on site. Hey, did Joe, did you just join the park? Do you see my wars? No, I can't see them. We can't see them. Can't see them. What you mean? I see them on the day.
Starting point is 00:24:54 No, I can't see them. Where's the other one? You got two of them, right? Yeah, I got it right. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, but they're so far away they're not, they're not focused. Okay, okay. I'm going to get it together for, I'm going to get it together for y'all. Hey, what, what mine at? Man, damn, y'all.
Starting point is 00:25:17 Hey, Joe, matter of fact, when I make that little visit, I'm going to take them out your house. Damn, Joe! You just got it. I'm going to take them out your house. Hey, hey, I heard, uh, if you buried somebody in your back, in your backyard on... That's a tax write-off. You know, there you go. Hey, what color you want your casket, partner? Who?
Starting point is 00:25:43 You. Yellow. Okay, I got you. Yellow? I got you. Because I got a nice little spot for you out there in the back. Yeah, okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:51 I hope your guard dog knew what a rat boy does smell like. Oh, no, he ain't taking nothing from no stranger, trust me. Oh, yeah, yes. Yeah, he trained like that. He ain't taking nothing from no stranger. Yeah, we'll see. And he's chewing ass, too. You come over here, he chewing ass.
Starting point is 00:26:06 I'm letting you know. All right. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Yeah. Oh, yeah. So, hey, hey, I advise you to tread lightly, partner.
Starting point is 00:26:15 I don't know what Honestly, Ocho, I don't know Why Joe chose violence tonight I understand that his team didn't play Particularly well but for the man to come And say, I'm not paying And that's the end of the day. He said, yeah, I owe Ocho 700, I'm not paying
Starting point is 00:26:32 And that's the end of that. Okay, let's continue to talk about the game I don't even know why y'all you keep bringing it up here My mind ain't going to change shit Hey, hey, hey, all What? Everybody in life had choices and they got to deal with the consequences. Yeah, you're right, don't you?
Starting point is 00:26:48 Got to deal with the consequences. That's it. So now he's going, he living in Atlanta and got to look over his shoulder all the damn time. I'm good. I'm good. You know, you think you good. Yeah, yeah. You think you good.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Yeah, hey, I keep that file on me. Yeah. That who? That five. And you ain't the only one. They made more than one. Well, hey, hey, partner, I'm just taking you tread lightly. You hear me?
Starting point is 00:27:12 Only trend I know about is tires. Hey, Joe say you got that draw on, Joe. Man, hey, I got a switch. You're going to jail. So I don't, anything in the area. With that switch, you get 10. Out the real. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:27:31 Hey, look, that's fine. Hey, long as my statement is made. Okay. All right. Look, I hope you can get that look at. I hope you can get it out. Oh, yeah. No, it's already out.
Starting point is 00:27:43 Okay. Okay. I don't know. Ocho, I've never seen, I've never seen, I've never seen or heard Joe behave in this manner. I never have either. I ain't never seen my damn hawks play like they played tonight. This is why I'm choosing violence. If I owe you money, you got to get it back in blood, partner.
Starting point is 00:28:04 It ain't just you, Ocho. It's go for everybody, partner, but since I'm sitting here talking to you, I'm letting you know. Joe for everybody out better. Ain't nobody getting paid. You know what? We might have to get him a little pay as a night because he on that brown. You hear me? Oh, he's on that 40.
Starting point is 00:28:20 So he's not responsible for what he's saying. Okay. Yeah, he's not in the right state of mind. Hey, I'm on that yack tonight. What do you mean? Who ain't responsible? What do you think this is? Hey, hey, Joe, I'm gonna tell you one thing.
Starting point is 00:28:35 I'm gonna tell you one more time. That brown gonna make you frown. Now you keep playing me if you want to now. Oh, you the bad saying he ain't paid you. I don't know what that's to tell you. Okay. Okay. Hey,
Starting point is 00:28:44 boy, your head gonna be a nailing the coffee. You keep playing with me like that, though. I'm trying to get, I'm trying to, I'm trying to coax, you know, maybe like $250 here, $250 there, another $200 at the end. But it doesn't seem like he willing to budge. It doesn't seem like he won't, he's going to pay you anything. It's okay. Hey, it's okay.
Starting point is 00:29:02 These hands going to buzz cross his head. Hey, hey, hey. That's fine. Wayne getting Nathaniel. Hey, when you see, hey, you come to the A and you see their red dot on you, partner. Don't get you. scared, all right? Yeah, I like red dots. I used to date an Indian. What's you saying, boy? Yeah, I'm gonna put it right in the middle of your head too. Huh? Yeah, right there in the middle
Starting point is 00:29:21 your head. Yeah, put it in the Laca, come to la Laca, come to la Laca, come to a lot. Put it down, okay, okay. Okay. Okay. You got the right one, boy. Yeah. Oh, so do you. So do you. So do you, partner. You got the right one on the right thing. Yeah. I chose. You better give me, I better have my money, boy. I'm telling you. How you want to, Joe? Yeah. How you want it? Hey, now he didn't piss me off now I want it in dollar bills. Man, I don't care how you, I don't care how much you get pissed off, huh?
Starting point is 00:29:51 Boy, you ain't got to go to the bank, Joe, you got to go to the bank and they got to count out $500,000? What? Who do? That would also say, how do they want this money? Oh, what did they do that at? Didn't I just tell that man,
Starting point is 00:30:03 they ain't getting this money? Okay. Damn, that I'm in time I got to tell you. You won't bet none. You won't bet none. Damn. I bet you have to be on the evening news. Bet it.

You're lucky I'm not a killer. I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on.

Starting point is 00:35:35 You on that liquor, huh? I got you. You on that yak. Okay. Hey, hey, I got it. Before we even start, I got a question for you, right? Now, before reality said it, now, I know the legs played really well tonight. LeBron was aggressive.
Starting point is 00:35:49 He did what he need to do. Yeah. Achimura. Did I say that right? Achi. Yeah, oh, Hachi. Oh, Hachi. Hey, A, A, Achi, we're hitting them shots tonight.
Starting point is 00:35:56 me? Yeah. Don't connect. He showed up. He came to the party. No, you're talking about La Ravia came in. The Ravravi. I don't think he got in the game.
Starting point is 00:36:06 He came in late. No, it was a Luravia came in, gave him some quality minutes. Five rebounds. Seven points. Yeah. Oh, brother. Brother Rees played well tonight too. You know, he got that rust off a little bit, you know, going into his second game.
Starting point is 00:36:24 So I'm going to let you. had a night for the fun because y'all won this series that's over. But y'all know you, you know what dragon laying in front of you now, right? We're not, we're not to that castle. Oh, we're not trying to kiss that princess yet. Oh, you're not worried about that yet. So what's going to kiss in that castle, where the dragon is at and he's blocking the princess. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:36:44 We'll talk about that then. Right now we're going to talk about them stinking rockets that failure to launch. Okay. The duds. Let's talk about them duds. Okay. They're talking about rocket, they duds. They misfired.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Yes, sir. Yes, yes, sir. Anybody know anything about fireworks? You know when you get a big old pat and half of them duds. You pay. Yes, sir. Yes, uh.
Starting point is 00:37:03 Hey. Joe, you look at the Lakers and they understood the assignment. They didn't want to play a game seven because anything can happen. They got confidence. They're like, hey, we've already won in their building before. We can damn show go in here and win again. Lakers adopted that same mindset.
Starting point is 00:37:21 JJ said, look, guys, game three. We went there and we won. We can win again. All we got to do is take care of the basketball, keep those guys off the glass. They did a great job of that tonight. Joe, what was so impressive? What was you what you found most interesting in why the Lakers won this game and in the fashion in which they did?
Starting point is 00:37:40 Well, I thought the Lakers played great defense, Uncle Ocho. I mean, as you can see, the Rock is only scored 708 points. And when you cut them young guys ward off to where they're not efficient, they're not making shots, you see the difference, right? Yes. Yes, it's a huge difference. But the biggest key is probably the way LeBron started the game. You know, putting a step on the game early, you know,
Starting point is 00:38:02 getting into the teeth of the defense, living in the paint, scoring their will. I'm like you, I don't give a damn that he went 10 for 25. I'm cool with that. Hey, bro. Hey, long as you being aggressive, making plays, trying to score, then everybody else, you know, they can get it off the glass. So they'll start, they'll catch up with you and they'll start to play off you. I just thought the lake was in full control tonight from start to finish.
Starting point is 00:38:27 They really never looked like, you know, like they was in, like they was ever going to lose. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they was never in any danger. But that's indicative to playing a young Rockets team who, yeah, they got a little experience, but hell, if they ain't making shots, okay, Ocho, how else can they affect the game to keep themselves in it at home? And they couldn't do it to. They couldn't do it tonight. And I think the thing is that because Rees Shepard wasn't able to get hit some threes early, nobody was diving to the basket.
Starting point is 00:38:58 I thought they did a great job. They're like, look, we're not coming to hell. They're like, Aiton, you got to anchor down. Yeah. And he did a great job of absorbing that contract. Contact because Shingoon, when he bothered you, he didn't. Hey, no, Ait and said, nah, I ain't going nowhere, bro. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:12 I'm going, hey, I dropped the anchor right here. I ain't moving. Yeah. And he made, he forced shot, made him go off over the top. I thought Marcus Mark was unbelievable tonight. He did a great job of taking care of the basketball. Remember, he had six turnovers last game, Joe. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:28 But think about it's his hustle plays. Yeah. He's blocking shots from back. Hey, and I don't know who it was. Was it Easton? I don't know if it was Easton. I don't know who it was. That he met him at the summit.
Starting point is 00:39:39 Oh, yeah. Yeah, it was. Yeah. He met him at the summit. Yeah. Yeah. He was sensational tonight. I thought he stepped up to play.
Starting point is 00:39:49 I thought, uh, Kanaad, I thought everybody played really well. Uh, they got a little loosey-goosey with the ball. I thought Alster Reeves tried to pat the ball behind his back. It goes out of bounds. And the next thing you know, Houston goes on a 6-0 run. Yeah, I agree. Those are the type of plays that when you play in better team, now you do this, that 6-0 run. Okay, see, that's 16-0.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Yeah. But we'll talk about that, Ocho, we'll talk about that. We'll talk about that next week. We ain't going to talk about it right now. Yes, yes, sir, yes, hey, listen, listen. Uh-huh. I like what you said about Mark is Smart and for guys who enjoy playing the game
Starting point is 00:40:23 who enjoy watching the game man listen when you ain't making shots how else can you put your stamp on the game because Mark is smart probably didn't score to what the third or four quarter uncle he had one point until those final two threes yeah so he had one point yeah so he never hung his head
Starting point is 00:40:38 he kept playing hard and here you got to have him on the court because it's energy and effort that he brings defensively you know keeping guys together on defense I think, I mean, he's a hell of a piece, bro. You got to have guys who can really stay in the right mind frame, Uncle Ocho, when things ain't really going their way. And for young guys, that's hard.
Starting point is 00:40:59 Okay, Ojo very hard. Yeah, but when you got a veteran guy, like Marcus Smart, who'd have been around the block here, he didn't gave you 20 plus, you know, in this series. Yeah. And it's been games like tonight, where it didn't look so good to him or for him until late in the game, you know, to where he was able to make a couple shots.
Starting point is 00:41:17 But the most part, bro, he still played his role to the T. Yeah, Joe, and that's something, too. Joe, you mentioned the two before. Sometimes, like, when you get to this level, you got to understand, everybody can score. But depending on where you're at, depending on what your role is, they might not need you to score. So you got to be of a value somewhere else outside of just being a score like Marcus Smart was at night. Okay, I'm not scoring, but there's some other valuable attributes that I bring to my game, you know, for the league of the night. hustling, playing crazy defense, you know?
Starting point is 00:41:51 Hey, Unk, I don't know what the hell meet that. There's some of it is, but I know he did something, right? Yeah. He made it at the rim. You know, he tried to dunk it. We didn't got to be. Okay. You got to go higher than that.
Starting point is 00:42:02 Okay, okay. Hey, I'm at the penthouse, too. Okay, okay, okay. So, unless your penthouse on top of mind, but we both at the penthouse. I like, I like that. This high as you can go. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:14 I like that. I like that. I like that. Oh, yeah. Joe, that's the thing. When you're a young player, you're not used to things not going your way. Because for the majority of your life,
Starting point is 00:42:25 things have gone your way. You were the best player in your area. You was an all-state player. You were probably missed to basketball. You're the best player on your college team. So now, and so things have always gone your way, so you don't know how to respond when things don't go your way. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:42:41 It's kind of like life. Sports is a macrocosm of life. When things are always, going your way, it's easy. But when you have a little setback, when you have some stumbling blocks placed in your way, now how do you overcome adversity? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:42:58 We saw DeMarcus Smart played a terrible game. And even though he didn't have one point until probably like the last six minutes of the ball game, other things, other attributes that he contributed, that he brought to the table, that is the difference in winning and losing. Absolutely. He's a piece that you more time than know. he'll contribute to you winning as opposed to you losing games
Starting point is 00:43:20 because he's going to do all the little things that he understands that you know what I'm never going to be the best player on an NBA team. With that being said, that doesn't mean I can't contribute. That doesn't mean I'm not
Starting point is 00:43:36 valuable. There you go. And so once you understand, because a lot of times don't show an out sport, we only equate value to do, if I don't catch no passes, I'm not valuable. If I don't score no touchdowns, I'm not valuable. Right. But no, sometimes that being a decoy, sometimes getting that blocked.
Starting point is 00:43:52 Instead of it being a 10-yard run, it's a 50-yard house call. You have to understand there are other things that are valuable. Sometimes people just place things value on monetary things. That's fine too. We all love monetary things. But sometimes there have to be something other than that that brings you value, that brings you happiness. And so I was very excited, considering how poorly he played the other night,
Starting point is 00:44:15 to see him bounce back because he had played so well in this series. And when he had been healthy, he had played so well for the Lakers. So it was great to see him bounce back like that. And that's what veteran players that's been in these situations before, this is what they normally do. Absolutely right. And that's why you got to have glue guys like Marcus Smart on Kocho. You know, because the game isn't, his game isn't really the sexiest.
Starting point is 00:44:40 But at the same time, he knows how to be effective, bro. He knows how to be effective. He plays his road to the T. He stars in his role. You feel what I'm saying? Yes. When you got veteran guys like that playing in tough games like this, I don't know what it is about playing at home.
Starting point is 00:44:58 This is what I was telling you guys. Like, when you're on the road, bro, it seemed like it's just you and your teammates against the world. Yeah. So, you know, it's likely that you can come out and have a pretty decent game versus being at home when you're comfortable, slept in your bed. you got your family around, you don't let your guard down a little bit.
Starting point is 00:45:16 You know what I mean? And to me, it seemed like that's what kind of happened in Houston because, you know, Jabari Smith didn't really play a hell of a game as far as scoring-wise. Him averaging about 16-17 in the series. They needed all those young dudes to play well. You know, I like the demeanor that LeBron had to start the game, just very serious and understanding and knowing that, man,
Starting point is 00:45:39 I can't settle too much tonight. Oh, yeah. No, I got to put pressure on these boys. I think the thing is, Ocho and Joe, is that last game, these guys had out of body experiences shooting the three. Yes. Guys were pulling up with guys in their face shooting the three. I mean, I mean, Tari Isson, the way he was bricking,
Starting point is 00:45:57 even his mom was talking about how he was shooting the ball bad on social media. Javari Smith was letting it real. Yeah. Now all of a sudden, a couple of those shots, that's the difference. You see a couple of shots go in, you grow. All of a sudden, you clank a couple of them. You shrink. Now you all of a sudden, you aim it.
Starting point is 00:46:18 You're like, come on. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So all it takes it for a couple of them.
Starting point is 00:46:27 It's just a miss. And now all of a sudden you're not nearly as confident as you once were. But that's what, that happens to young players. Yeah. Now the event player, you understand you're going to have ebbs and flows of the game. I might drop one. And it might be a big play. I just know, hey, come back, they're going to bring you on a shallow cross.
Starting point is 00:46:45 You're going to have an opportunity on a choice or an option route. Just catch that one. Just get the field of that pigskin, feel that leather. Then we're right back in business. Yeah. We're right back in business. Yeah, yeah. I thought the Lakers, this was the type of game that we wanted to see in game four.
Starting point is 00:47:00 This was the type of game that we wanted to see in game five. We saw LeBron get right down here. Let's get right to it. All right, let's get to it. Yeah. Hey, what about your boy Ruyn? Your boy Ruyn came to play tonight, didn't it? Hey, he was feeling good.
Starting point is 00:47:13 We talked about Rui getting streaky and how he can hit five or six. Hey, Joe, we talked about that the other day. I said, Joe, he's a guy because I watched him in Memphis and I watched him in some of the series. Yeah. He's a guy. He's their best catching shoot guy from the three. Now, I think Karnard is an overall better shooter from the three than Rui. But as far as just catching the ball and letting it go, he's the best on the team.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Yeah. Hey, hey, and he covered for us tonight, too. But when Rue is playing like this, you know, to where Bronc can create and get him wide open shots and kind of get him going, you know, they kind of picks him up, gets his defense going. I just think, hey, now the Lakers got to, you know, they got to get some rest, Arkansas and Ocho and see what they can, see what they can throw at OKC, you know. But they get Saturday off, they get Sunday off, they get Monday off, they don't play until Tuesday, Joe. Oh, yeah, they got a little time. They got a little time. They got a little time.
Starting point is 00:48:08 Also, DA didn't have a big night scoring the basketball, but Joe, on the glass, he got everything that was all coming. He did, bro. He did. He did. And that's what you have to have. They didn't get, remember the last time I think they doubled them up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:26 In offensive rebounds. Yeah. Tonight, the Lakers had 15. They had eight. Now all of a sudden, those second chance points that you was feasting on the other night, he didn't allow that. Guys got on the glass tonight I thought Marcus Mark has seven rebounds
Starting point is 00:48:41 Ruy had six rebounds LeBron has seven rebounds Right You can live with that Hey, uh, La Ravia came in there in 16 minutes He gave you five rebounds He did Hey listen
Starting point is 00:48:53 For Houston I like Torres Eastern But you need you need a KD bro in this series in order to be able to win Because these young dudes Weren't gonna be able to take you to victory Not throughout the series Yeah, they can win you a game or two
Starting point is 00:49:06 because Easton, you need him coming off that bench, Uncle Ocho, to get you a little five-power, a little spark plug that probably could have helped you get over the hump in a couple of these games. But without KD, I mean, did we, I mean, we didn't really think these guys was going to run the table and win two in a row against a lot. I know I didn't, you know, I wouldn't have been too surprised.
Starting point is 00:49:25 Well, yeah, four in a row. Yeah, I really wouldn't have been too surprised had they, you know, kept it close and maybe even won this game tonight, but I wouldn't have picked them to beat the Lakers. Look, we thought that, look, my thing was, my only concern is that Brian, if Bronn come out being passive again, trying to get everybody else involved, because now you try to get everybody else involved, you're throwing yourself off real.
Starting point is 00:49:47 Yeah. You know, sometimes don't you talk, man, you're helping everybody else and now you can't help yourself. Now you find yourself in a predicament. Yeah. Hey, get it off the table. Yeah. I'm a pile of it on my plate. Some fall off grab it.
Starting point is 00:50:02 Yeah. I cannot run the risk of throwing myself off rhythm while all the while trying to get you in rhythm. Right. Yeah, I agree. I thought, look, everybody understood the assignment tonight. Look, Austin Reeves is, look, he's defensively challenged. It is what it is, Joe. He's not going to get any better.
Starting point is 00:50:20 He's not going to get any better. He's not. Hey. The guy just don't, I mean, you could try all you want to, but he just doesn't have the lateral movement. His feet heavy. His feet is just heavy. Some guys can just, it's easy. You look at Marcus Marr, he can just slide and just slide and just slide and retreat.
Starting point is 00:50:38 Mm-hmm. You got, hey, you got to hope he get in a little better shape, though, in the old show. You've seen all them boys hunched over grabbing their shorts. Yeah. Boy, hey, them boy were dead dog tired. You know, they, I'm like you. They understood the assignment knowing that, man, look, we got to get these young dudes up out of here.
Starting point is 00:50:56 We got to go back home, baby, to get us some rest in the next couple days. And I felt like the Lakers, they did that from start to finish. Get them down. Now they're going to come down and start jacking up shots. Yeah. They're not going to be patient because the one thing, as a young person, you're not patient. No.
Starting point is 00:51:14 Hey, as a young person, I remember I was a young person, guys. Hey, I got my chicken from cracking eggs, not by letting them hatch. I wouldn't wait. Shea wasn't waiting on nothing. Hey, that was a bar. That was a bar. That was a good. And so, Joe, you already know, you young.
Starting point is 00:51:32 Yeah. I'm going to try to get it. Hey, and let me come down here, the three. If I hit a three, that's going to get the crowd. I come down to hear it again. But then what happens, you go airball and you go airball. Yeah. I may probably look at you like, what was that?
Starting point is 00:51:45 Yeah. What was that? I think people like, oh, you try, I'm not trying to take no shot at KD. I know they're not a better team without KD. I think some of those guys on that team think they play better without KD. Yeah. That's the issue. Hey.
Starting point is 00:52:02 There is some of them guys that are a lot more aggressive without KD. I mean, when you look at it, Uncle, Ocho, they ain't have nobody with more than three assists tonight, the Rockers. You know what I mean? That's not who they are, Joe. I know, because it's such a young team, they're not really sacrificing. You feel what I'm saying? It's like, boom, boy, if I got it, I'm taking it. You feel me?
Starting point is 00:52:21 It's like, my turn, your turn. Like, there's really no chemistry and continuity with those guys, maybe because Katie is out. You know, Van Fleek ain't playing. You don't have no veteran guys out there. who can help lead this young team. And that's kind of what you've seen tonight. You know, it was guys just kind of one, one-pass shot. You know, it wasn't really a good flow of chemistry
Starting point is 00:52:41 between the guys tonight. What guy, look at these guys, I think Thompson is available for a contract extension. You don't make no max dollars being an assist guy. Right. Tari Eason, those guys, Jabari Smith. Joe, I'm trying to get money. KD.
Starting point is 00:53:02 going to keep money out my pockets. You don't think those guys thinking that? Yeah, I know. That's be real. That's the all way real. I've been there. You got Jabar Smith, you got Thompson,
Starting point is 00:53:11 you got these young guys. They won't max contract because they saw guys in their draft class getting that. Didn't Paulo Bank Carol just signed a max deal? Didn't Chad Honger just signed a max deal? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:23 Jabar and Smith said, what about me? Yeah. I ain't got no money yet. Y'all ain't got no money for me? You only got nothing for you, boy? Y'all ain't going to fly nothing on the flow? So, KD scoring 26-27.
Starting point is 00:53:41 I ain't going to really, they ain't going to really give me no money if I'm scoring 12, Joe. But with KD. I bumped that up to 17-18. Yeah. You see what I'm talking about? It changed everything.
Starting point is 00:53:52 Man, hey, they ain't got no playmakers, though, Unc and Ocho. Hey, hey, you heard what Joe just said? They ain't got no playmakers, right? They don't. They don't have a point guard. Hold on, let's say, KD, not playing. And you bump them numbers up to 17, 18, hell, it still looked like fools' gold.
Starting point is 00:54:08 That's all it is. It looked like fool's gold. You know, it's not real gold. It's gold-plated. Because without KD, what everybody looked like, Joe? And I mean, no disrespect. They don't look great consistently. They'll have nights.
Starting point is 00:54:24 You know what I mean? Like, in this series, they've had games to where they've looked, you know, pretty good. You know, but like I said, man, that's when they make shots. When they make shots, they look damn good. Hey, Joe, when you get a max contract, they pay you max dollars because you what? You what? You elite at what you do. And you're consistent.
Starting point is 00:54:41 Damn near, you damn near consistent. Yeah. Yeah. Javar Smith signed a five-year $122 million rookie extension. This contract begins in 2020-6 season, long-term court following his initial, four-year $35.8 million. He looked at like, man, you see what check got? Chet in my class
Starting point is 00:55:03 Yeah You see what did Paulo What did Paulo side of his back extension Shit, it was about two something wasn't it? That's $118 million more On the same year What did check get Two something
Starting point is 00:55:17 Chet got two something Yeah He got the same thing as Paulo Damn And Ocho you know You know the receivers in your draft Claude, don't you? Yes, sir
Starting point is 00:55:30 You know when they went to the pro bowl you're like, well, hold on, he don't win to the Pro Bowl? I got to get that too. Yeah. Paulo got banned Carrot done made the All-Star team. Chet Hungry don't make the All-Star team. What you think, Jabari Smith, thank you. Okay, okay, I got you.
Starting point is 00:55:43 Hey, I've been there. I know exactly what you're saying. I know, too. Hey, hey, that's why I tell you, look, when I was in Phoenix and I turned that 50 down, I seen Jason Richardson get 70, seeing Gilbert Arena's them signing these big deals. I'm like, hold on.
Starting point is 00:55:59 Hold on, hold on. Hold on. I got to get some of this here. You know, hey, hey, look, I'm going balls to the wall. You hear me? Yeah. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Especially, Joe, if you and Ojo, you feel that you're better than the guys that's getting that money.
Starting point is 00:56:18 I remember all the receivers that came out. I'm better than him. Okay, you got that initial money. Got you. Tide ends. I played with some of them that ended up going. I was like, bro. I was at the East West Shrine game with you.
Starting point is 00:56:34 I was at the Blue Gray game with you. Bro, you're not like that. At all. I'm not hated. I'm looking at my... So now I'm thinking it's kind of like you're in a relationship. She chose him over you. What is it about him?
Starting point is 00:56:50 I got meat for days too. How do you all that got to? I think out what it is. Okay, he ain't got no money. I ain't got no money. I'm 6-2-2-25. He's 6-1. 215.
Starting point is 00:57:04 I got the baby arm. I don't know what he's working with. I'm saying, so what is it? I'm funny. I tell jokes. I dress pretty good. Yeah. I got Ralph Lawn.
Starting point is 00:57:15 I got Tommy Hill Ficker. I got Lee and Calvin Klein. Yeah. So what is it? Yeah. Okay, them guys getting money. Yeah. What is it?
Starting point is 00:57:26 What are they doing that I can't? Man, please. Right. Are you absolutely right? Hey, that's what, that's mainly, you know, I would say mainly in football, basketball, that's what these young dudes thinking, bro. They're trying to contribute to where they can get a huge contract. You know, do they want to win? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:46 But at the same time, hell, I want to be, I want to be involved. Joe, don't boy worry about that money on, Joe. But most of the time, you know, the boy get exposed when the time coming to show up and you're the focal point and you can prove you worth whatever those MAC dollars are. Yeah. Half of them don't show up to the party, Joe. But unlike, but see, unlike us, Ocho, once they, that five years, 122, that's guaranteed. He can drop down to four points a game. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:15 He's going to get that money, all of it. Yeah. Paulo Bancarro got that five, 245. Yes, sir. He's getting all of that. Yeah. Yeah. It ain't no, well, he's five where he got $100 million.
Starting point is 00:58:25 No, no, no, no, no. Right. That's five for $2.45. Paulo Bancarro is getting all of that. That's set and stuff. It's in all of that. No matter what. No matter what.
Starting point is 00:58:36 Not let me do something agree. Obviously, anytime you deal with that kind of money, there are morality clauses in there. Right. But as long as you go play basketball and you don't run a file, you're going to get up all that. Hey. And so guys, and I'm looking at it. Ocho, I'm 22. So by the time I get up off this deal, guess what?
Starting point is 00:58:57 I'm 26. Been a sign of nothing. They give me another deal. I'll be 30 and I'll be getting another deal. So we're going to get another one. Ooh. So think about it.
Starting point is 00:59:10 By the time these guys 30, they could be done signed $600 million in contracts. Oh, yeah. At 30. It's going to be something that's going to have that, yeah. Yeah, Ant Man.
Starting point is 00:59:20 Ant Man go come back and make all NBA. Ant Man can be the first guy to make 80 million a year. Ooh. 80. 80 a year. It's probably,
Starting point is 00:59:31 Hey, it's probably going to be more than that considering Adidas' adornments and all that. Yeah, that's just on the court. We ain't talking about after court. Yeah. Yeah. So when you look at it, you look at it like that, guys sometimes,
Starting point is 00:59:45 everybody says sacrifice, sacrifice, but I don't want to be the one to have to sacrifice. Right. Let him sacrifice. I need my numbers. You look, bro, you already got your money. You already got you. You good.
Starting point is 01:00:02 Yeah. Let me get my money. Then I think about sacrificing. I'll think about sacrificing once I get my breath. But they're a young team. Do I think they're a better team without KD? No. But they play better because they're not standing around watching what KD does.
Starting point is 01:00:20 They kind of reverted back to what they were. But if you think about it, they stayed close to home. They didn't send help the double team shingoon. Mm-mm. So now everybody stayed home. Now what do you do? guy, it's like, well, damn, no, son, you got to go set a screen.
Starting point is 01:00:37 You got to go die to the basket or something. Yeah. You just can't stand there. Yeah, yeah. He can't throw the ball through, Ruy. He can't throw the ball through Austin or Smart or LeBron. You got to give him something. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:50 Hey, you got to get a Lakers credit, though, because typically Singoon always has more than one assist fellas. You know, they made him, they just, hey, they told Aiden guard him straight up. We're going to guard him straight up. Because one thing you can't do is let him come out here and have like no triple double numbers. Yeah, you can live with 17 and 11. Right.
Starting point is 01:01:09 All day long. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But don't let him have no eight, no 10, 11 assists. And hitting these guys cutting back dough and all that. You can't let all that go on. I thought the Lakers did a great job. But yeah, Houston got some work to do. They got some work.
Starting point is 01:01:24 They do. They got some work to do. They need some guys to be available. Look at the game that the Nuggets won. Look at Yokin's assist total when they win. Yeah. Look at his assist totals when they don't. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:39 Same thing with Shingoon. Now, go ahead and score. If you can score 40, bless your heart. Yeah. But what we're not going to do is send a double, and then here you are getting guys wide open look at threes. And they're hitting.
Starting point is 01:01:53 Nah, we're not going to do that. We're not going to do that. Right. But you know what? Lakers moving on. I know what y'all talking about. Well, they ain't going no further. I don't know how far they're going to go.
Starting point is 01:02:02 But I know they're going to play on Tuesday night. Yeah, yeah. One team playing on Tuesday night. If your team, not the Lakers, and they will play it against the Lakers in the first round, your season is officially over. Is it? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:17 I like it. Turn out the lights. Yeah. They say that all. Good things must end. Hey, they're going to be in for a good. Hey, they're going to be in for a good boy. Oh, it's going to be a great.
Starting point is 01:02:30 It's going to be great. You know, go, going to be gold. Yeah, he got to be. LeBron, 28 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds. Next up, the defending champs with OKC Thunder. On Tuesday, JJ, on LeBron. To me, he's had the greatest career of any NBA player. Rick says the locker room making the goat bad noise for LeBron James after the game.
Starting point is 01:02:52 He said, hey, we didn't already know. Steve Kerr says, Draymond Green is a better defender than both Bulls' teammates, Scottie Pippin and Dennis Rodman. The modern game demands so much more than it did in the 90s. You have to be able to guard all five positions because there's so much pace and energy and cross-matches. You race back on defense. You got to guard.
Starting point is 01:03:17 You got to guard the guy in front of you. And then there's pick-on-pick-on game. I guess the opposing team is going to bring the weakest defender into the picking role to gain an advantage. Draymond can guard any action and any position, any player. Joe? I don't know. What Steve Curry saying that he's a better defender than Scotty Pippen and Dennis Rodman? I don't know about that.
Starting point is 01:03:42 I think Draymond is a hell of a defender. But considering the fact that Scottie Pippen 6-7-6-8, Dennis Rodman 6-9, those guys were crazy athletic. And they were length, that was lengthy, you know, had long arms. Yep. And they could defend their ass off. Drayman can defend his ass off too. But to say that he's just heading shoulders as better. than them guys. I know Steve Kerr played with Dennis Ryman and Scotty Pippen, but I,
Starting point is 01:04:10 that's hard for me to believe, bro. I've seen, I've seen Pip sitting in that chair, especially in, what was that, 91 when they was playing against the Lakers. He guarded magic full court. Like, I mean, brough, like, I know Steve Kerr played with those guys, so for him to say that I mean a lot. Yeah, but I can't just say Draymond is just head and shoulders better than Scottie Pippin and Dennis Robin Ocho. I can't, I can't go there. Hey, listen, that's out of my pay grade to really have an opinion on something like that.
Starting point is 01:04:43 I mean, you would know better than I do. But when you think of Pippin, you always think of him being, I don't want to say second fiddle, but that the crutch, you know, to crush the Jordan during that time, they were together. You know, obviously, nobody's done defensively. But the game is so much different now, though. It is. It's very different. Would Pippin and Robbins still be able to hang
Starting point is 01:05:07 with these much more athletic and much more elusive and lusive guys today in today's game? Yeah, I think so. Man, they were, if you go look at them bulls, especially in the 90s, Ocho, look how ripped and cut up them dudes was, bro. Like, them dudes were, they lived in the way room. Like, I'm talking about from Jordan having a breakfast club
Starting point is 01:05:28 to what guys worked out before practice, like everybody was cut up. You don't really see that nowadays, bro. You see guys playing, but they don't really had that muscle mass, them cuts, like them dudes had in the 90s. Yeah. Them dudes who was in, they were in thoroughbred shape.
Starting point is 01:05:44 You know what I mean? And I'm talking about Scottie Pippen can guard. He could guard the point guard, the two, the threes, the fours. It's just back then guys, guys, you know, smaller guys really wasn't guarding fives because the fives back then were really, really fives. Yeah, yeah, yeah. David Robinson's to Patrick Ewan's to the Rick Smiths.
Starting point is 01:06:07 Like, you had real, real bigs back then. You know, we really got like two, maybe three bigs in this era. Right. They ain't really no bigs. So why is it when Steve Kerr says that? But if a modern player was to say that it's tougher now than it was back then, everybody's talking about they're crazy.
Starting point is 01:06:33 How many times the guys are saying now it's so hard the pace of the game to play 82 games like those guys did back then? Ain't nobody walking the ball up. There's no 73, 75 ball games. No, no. And it's just too many weapons on the floor nowadays. Your fours and fives can shoot the shit out of the ball now.
Starting point is 01:06:53 They can shoot the three. You know, the floor is a lot of space, which is why it's so hard to really guard a lot of these perimeter guys because your help is primarily not in the pain anymore. They're all spaced out. You know, the game is a lot more wide open, you know, than it's ever been.
Starting point is 01:07:17 It's just, I don't know why, but every era holds their era so close. Yeah. We don't want to give it up, Ocho. We don't want to give it up, Joe. Right, right. They're great guys, but there are more of these guys
Starting point is 01:07:34 that can shoot the ball. There were guys that can shoot. There's just more of them now. There are guys that can handle the ball back then. There's just more of them now. And that's okay. And when people ask me to say, Shedda, what's the biggest difference
Starting point is 01:07:51 between when you play tight-in now and the guys playing tight-in today? I said, there's just more of them. They're really on a handful of guys that could do what I do back then. Now you got Kelsey and you had a gronk and you had McBride and you got Leporten, you got
Starting point is 01:08:08 Hawkinson, and you got, where there was two or three, you got ten. Yeah. Yeah. You got ten. Where you had maybe one or two guys, two guards that can shoot the ball like Reggie Miller. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:21 How many guys can let it fly now? Flat the home. How many, there wasn't no fours that could shoot the ball like Kevin Durant. No, sir. What are we doing? What are we talking? Come on now.
Starting point is 01:08:34 It wasn't no five that can shoot the ball like Shed Honger. That can shoot the ball. ball like Yokic? What are we doing? Come on. That's not to take anything away from those guys. David Robinson, Hakeem Elijahan, Patrick Ewan, Rick Smith. Those guys were great. Yeah. That's not to diminish them. They're not shooting the ball like Yokic. They're not shooting the ball like Chet. They're not. They're not shooting the ball like Joe L&B. It's okay to say it. That doesn't diminish them. It's called evolution. Yep. It's evolved.
Starting point is 01:09:07 Yes, why you think the guys, look at the guys shooting percentage. Go back and look at the guys in the 40s, look at their percentages in the 50s, look at them in the 60s, look at them in the 60s, look at them in the 70s, and look at it, and get better and better and better. You're right. The guys got better.
Starting point is 01:09:26 It's okay. It used to be an anomaly. Somebody threw 100 miles an hour in baseball. You're like, oh, my God. They got 25 guys through 100. Yeah. Now, they ain't even looking at you if you don't throw a damn 100. You had maybe two, maybe two guys.
Starting point is 01:09:49 Not everybody throwing gas. Everybody throwing 100, 103. Cut fastball, two seams, slide or split. I think the, I think the training is a lot different nowadays, too. For sure. You know, when you think about it, even, hell, even when I came into the NBA, guy, we wouldn't, you didn't have a trainer. We just, we just hooped.
Starting point is 01:10:13 That's it. We meet up, okay, we're hooping at 2 o'clock, we're hooping it. That was it. That's how you got better. Yeah, you may have got some spots shooting up afterwards, but we weren't doing no cone drills. We wasn't doing none of that. Nowadays, see, they get these guys when they're younger,
Starting point is 01:10:29 and you may be 6, 8, 6, 9, 610 at high school, but we're doing guard work. You're working on your jump shot. So that's how the game is able to evolve. And then by the time you get to college, you're a totally different player. Guys don't play, they back to the basket no more. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:44 You know what I mean? It's only a couple dudes who have it in their, in their repertoire. You know what I mean? But a lot of these bigs don't, they can't play like that. I mean, hell, you look at Aiden, okay, Ocho, he ain't really got no back to the basket moves. He'll face up big. He'll face up big. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:00 He'll face up big. And he ain't got no, he ain't got no. Hey, those guys, hey, those guys used to turn their face. Yeah. He ain't got none of that. Nah, no. But you look at Yokicch. Ain't no big passing like Yolkij out of the double team.
Starting point is 01:11:15 No, sir. No. Ain't nobody passing like Joe L. B can pass the ball. Yeah. Ain't nobody got the range. There's no big had the range of Joe L. Embedd. What guy was seven foot can handle the ball like Kevin the rent? What guy was that tall can handle the ball like Wimby?
Starting point is 01:11:32 It ain't one. It ain't one. The only guy that were like a handful of guys that was six, like Penny Hardaway and Magic. They're a bunch of guys now. And they'll, they were past first point guards. Yes. Like Penny was a pass first point, but he could score. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:11:49 Like now, now you got to be able to damn score that ball. And, you know, and pass at the same time. But your point guard is pretty much, you know. It ain't no point guard no more. Because if we look at point guards, now, they're just two guards masquerading the other more. There you go. There you go. There you go. It ain't no more Gary Payton.
Starting point is 01:12:09 There ain't no more Jason Keyes, Isaiah Thomas, Magic Johnson, John Stockton. it ain't no more them guys. These guys are masquerading. Yeah. They're really twos. Yeah. Alan Iverson, Alan Iverson was a two masquerading at the point.
Starting point is 01:12:22 James Harder did the two masquerading at the point. Steph Curry, all these guys are twos masquerading his points. Yeah. Yeah. I think AI was more of a two guard than any of them. Because he, I mean,
Starting point is 01:12:35 I ain't saying he couldn't pass. He could pass, but he was just so prolific at scoring, bro. It's like, it was unreal. It was unreal. And I don't know how that little Joker did what he did. At that side, at his height and his body, man, Chuck, by the way, he was 160. And think about it.
Starting point is 01:12:54 Look how great he was in football. I mean, damn. Yeah. You know, it's. But that's the mentality that he had on the basketball court. There you go. There you go. That's the mentality that he had.
Starting point is 01:13:08 Yeah. So, yeah, look, I think the thing is that. Obviously, everybody going to praise their own player. Everybody says, they get a player, and say he's the best player that I've ever seen. I've never seen anybody do that. And I get it. And I think Drey Mon is a phenomenal player.
Starting point is 01:13:24 Yes. Do I think he's the equivalent defender of Akeem? I don't. King was a bad boy, boy. And you're right. Scotty Pippen, you know, could really, I mean, Scotty could sit in the chair. I mean, he wasn't your guard, no five,
Starting point is 01:13:42 because back then the five were true fives. That's what I was saying. He wasn't going to go to Elijah one. I mean, he might take it for a, possession. He messed around and getting on the pick or something. Yeah. Get switched off on him. But dealing with David Robinson or Patrick Ewing, a keen.
Starting point is 01:13:55 Yeah. Nah. There was true back to the basket, beaks. They were true beaks. Yeah. It was really. Hey, they were not been to let you, they were not been to bail you out by taking a 20-footer. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 01:14:07 They were going to walk your ass down to the basket, drop step, and you're going to follow them, or they're going to dunk on your ass. Put them elbows up in your neck and your chest. Yes. Yeah. That's what it was about. A win is a win. A win is a win.
Starting point is 01:14:29 I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me. Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Cliford Show.
