Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is, getting a new one put up in its place.
I'm Akela Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 is about both of those things.
As I was watching these statues come down, I was thinking about what it meant that I grew up in a majority black city in which there were more
homages to enslavers than there were to enslave people.

Oh, Cho, we got some football now.
George Kittle issues a warning for any team interested in signing Brandon Ayuk.
Yeah.
Last time I signed Ayuk was call it week six, seven, or eight.
I don't really know.
I used to make it a habit of mind to go out early in the morning before meeting to watch him
train because he always be out there early.
And I watched him run over 22 miles an hour and stop.
on a dime. So he still got it, or at least that was a year eight months ago. So I don't really
know, but you guys have fun with that. I guess you have fun with all that comes with it.
Ocho?
Yes, sir.
He had another IG live, something where he's posted, go, yeah, commander.
Right.
What are we supposed to do with this, Ocho?
I don't know. I don't know. I think, if anything, I doubt the commanders are talking to him.
right now the 49ers still have his rights.
So if anything, he's just throwing out hints on where he would like to go by saying,
you know, come on, commanders.
I mean, it's a tough situation.
It's one that I understand how precious the game is, Ankh.
I understand how fast the game goes by.
I understand also how fast the game will leave you behind.
Yes.
And showing you that you are never bigger than the program.
It's happened to some of the best.
It happened to me.
It happened to Antonio Brown.
It happened to Rainy Moss.
It happened to Jerry Rice.
It happens to all of us.
So I think as these years go on, as these years pass by,
I would hate for Brandon Ayuk to look back
and think about the time that he wasted playing the game
when he had the leverage.
Right now, you had the leverage.
It feels good.
Yeah, I mean, it does right now.
But it's going to come a time.
You ain't going to have the leverage,
you're going to be gone.
Yeah, you're going to be gone.
So right now, I want him to maximize the opportunity
that he has right now and take advantage of that.
You know, a young bull can play.
He knows he can play.
play. And I would love to see him on a team and healthy and contributing on someone's
offense and doing what he does best. And that's run routes and give people hell defensively.
I think the thing is this goes back to they didn't want to pay him. He ended up getting paid.
He still harbored some of that. Y'all didn't think I was worth. Y'all didn't think I was worth
the money that I was asking for. Reported the Steelers wanted to trade for him. They shot that down
49 is dead.
They end up eventually paying him.
Maybe he's not happy with the money that he got.
Ocho, we always think we're worth more than what we get.
Yeah.
Anyway, he got it.
He got the money.
He signed the contract.
He was cool with that.
Yeah.
And then he gets injured.
Yeah.
Tough.
If I was already hesitant to give you a chunk of change and then you get hurt within six, five months of me give you that chunk of change, Ocho.
I'm going to feel some.
some type of way.
Yeah.
You know what?
Ocho, she's like, you know what, Ocho, if you don't marry me?
I'm telling you what, you need to marry me.
You're apprehensive.
You're like, ah, yeah.
I mean, I like you and I really appreciate, you know, but.
It's always a big butt.
Yes.
But you say, you know what?
You've been here, you know, when I ain't really have a whole lot,
we don't have to accomplish some stuff together.
I'm gonna put a ring on it.
You put the ring on it.
Yes, sir.
Then you get a call.
Hey, Ocho, man.
Uh-oh.
You still with old girl?
Uh-oh.
Hey, this is where your heart dropped when you get that call like that, right?
Hey, the heart drop?
I saw her ducked up in the cut.
Oh, oh, oh.
Oh.
You already didn't want to get with a ring.
Now you say, you know what I knew damn well
I shouldn't have gained with that damn ring.
One thing, hey, fellas, this is a small example.
I know it's even though a hypothetical coming from up,
huh?
Always trust your gut instincts.
Yeah.
If you feel it, if you feel it, come on now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You ain't got to be Clio.
And so I think that's the thing is.
And you know, but here's the thing.
Also, if you know somebody wants to fire you,
guess what I'm not going to do,
give you a reason.
to find me.
Yeah.
I know you want to take my money.
I know you want to recoup some of this money.
Mm-hmm.
I'm going to go there rehab every day.
Every day I'm going there.
Yeah.
Hey, uh-huh, something happened internally,
Unk, we just don't know what it is.
There's no way that a player,
you don't come from money, you weren't rich.
You got rich because of, obviously,
the services that you provided,
and they compensated you for your services,
and you give the money back?
Nope.
Something we don't know happen.
Players don't do that.
You don't do that.
It just, it never happens.
Like he has to be, he was really fed up.
I just don't know what it was.
I ain't been that, I'm going to be that fed up.
And like I said, that was, you know, he was still feeling some type of way, Ocho,
that I had to wait this long to get my money.
Maybe I didn't get what I thought.
They end up giving him the money.
He gets hurt.
Yeah, we should have trusted our gut.
And now they got buyers remorse.
He didn't want to be there.
I got to take this money.
They're not going to trade me.
They didn't trade me.
Right.
And as my grandfather said, boy, that's a match made in hell.
And it is.
And here we are.
They got the upper hand.
They boarded all the money.
All the money they were supposed to get, Ocho.
They boarded it.
And, you know, and listen, and you also got to be careful.
Because they're all band together.
You know, they all being together
and won't get no job at all.
Hey, come on now.
They sure will.
Young man, get it together, Brandon, get it together.
Michael Parsons is now expected to miss at least
half the season.
According to reports, Michael could miss
significantly more time than many initially expected
as he continued recovering from a torn ACL
he suffered late in the season.
For a Green Bay team that invested two first round picks
and a record-setting contract
in the superstar past Russia, the latest projection is far from ideal.
Mm.
Isn't that what his brother put out?
Ocho.
Yeah.
What did I tell you?
Mm-hmm.
About family members.
Always.
Every time.
Why they can't do this, huh?
I don't know, man.
I don't know why they...
Oh, geez.
You got one job.
Be Michael Parsons a little brother.
A big brother.
That's the only job.
you got. Right. Damn.
That's his only job.
If the Packers want to release that information.
Yeah. Which they're not.
You know teams don't release any damn thing.
Never, especially nothing like that.
No. I don't. I'm sure you love your brother.
Your brother loves you.
But some things should remain between you and your brother.
The general public should not know this information.
Right.
if it comes to, hey, we know
we had a good idea that he's probably
going to start on the pub.
Yeah.
And then we play from,
come off an injury like that.
Yeah.
And we'll play it from here by there.
That's it.
Charles is the only job
is to be your little brother.
Yeah.
He got a other job.
My sister, be my big sister.
My mom, be my mom.
That's it.
We don't need to tell you,
man, I think the Broncos,
I think the Ravens go do really, no.
Put on the jersey, put the sharp jersey on,
and go to the game.
I just don't get this.
And that's why Ocho, you know,
I say, whether you want to believe it or not,
anytime a family member speak,
the people, where do you think he got that information from, Ocho?
Chad, what y'all think he got,
where do you think Michael Parsons got that information from
that they're potentially his brother
would miss half the season.
Where do y'all think he got the information from?
That's why you don't talk.
Anything you say,
if Charcy would have said something,
Ocho told him.
Family, friends, and loved ones,
when they're close to,
and they speak,
people are going to listen
for the simple fact
that information that they're talking about,
oh, they got that from Ocho.
I just, I don't know the good
that he thought that was going to,
how does that help Michael's
rehab, how does that help the Packers?
Because at the end of the day, that's
what it's about. Everything,
my whole focus, yeah.
How do I help Sterling Sharp? How do
I help the Packers? Keep my damn
mouth shut.
Mm-hmm. Damn.
My goddamn Michael, man. I wish
he hadn't got hurt. Well, he was, well, you know, he had
12 and a half sex? Yeah.
He was, he had just
starting to get, he was
starting to, this is why
they paid him.
Yeah.
What was that game?
He had had like three or four sacks and he closed the game.
This is why you paid Michael Parsons.
Yo, when he chased the quarterback down.
Yes.
I forgot.
This is why you paid it.
He was just starting to look like Michael, starting to look like, okay, okay, okay.
And I be damn.
Praying for you, bro.
Keep your head up.
Keep working hard.
All you can do is rehab and come back stronger.
According to the athletic,
Kyle Murray has had some growing pains learning the playbook and scheme in Minnesota.
Everything here revolves around the quarterback.
And the most notable aspect of workout was Kyle's progression in Kevin O'Connell's system.
The Vikings didn't dumb it down the complexity for Murray.
If anything, the team installed the full breadth of concepts and play calls to challenge Murray.
He looked uncomfortable at times, working his way through the lengthy verbiage,
downfield route distribution, but the Vikings believed that this will be the best long,
best in the long run.
The competition with JJ McCarthy
will continue in the training camp,
barring a major setback in terms of health
or scheme understanding
the platform should exist for Murray
to prove he deserves to be the starting job
in this offense with the loads of weapons.
It's tough on a quarterback to learn a new system.
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
Seriously, come from...
All that down, verbiage.
Completely different.
Now you've got to learn the verbiage.
Now you got to like,
oh, maybe you may have to shift the line.
Now you got the concept down.
the field one two three check down you know it take about a year too for a quarterback to be
extremely comfortable and know everything like the back of his hand and normally when he does
that what is he doing oh cho he taking all the rips yeah yeah and i don't i don't like the fact that
they're still calling the quarterback competition it's not a quarterback competition they listen
they they they bought kail and there to start because we know what j j mccarthy gave us we got a small
sample size of it in the small sample size that we did get it ain't happening it's not going to get
us nowhere that's why colomers here yeah yeah guess what they ain't got no quarter they ain't got
brought no quarterback in in Denver to challenge bow nix they ain't bring no quarterback in the challenge
joy and love they ain't bring no quarterback in to challenge Caleb wilson they ain't bring no
quarterback in the challenge uh uh oh oh uh the guy up in uh in new england Drake mate yeah Drake may yeah
Drake May.
Uh-uh.
When they bring a quarterback in to challenge you,
we saw that last year in Indy.
And guess what?
They brought the quarterback in the challenge
and guess who got the job, Ocho?
Got, yeah, when it came in,
hold on.
And look how you look.
You on deck.
You play baseball, right?
You on deck.
Why do you think they brought two in?
You think two are going to start over Michael Pennix, Jr.?
They didn't bring him in the backup.
It's easy.
It's easy,
Because, Ocho, I got to figure out, this is third year.
This man going to want 200 billion.
This man going to want $250, $300.
Is this a third year already?
Yes.
Golly.
Chad, who's going to start?
Tua or Pinnix?
Chat, what y'all think?
Let me pay this little $2 million a tour.
I'd rather play $2 million a tour and say, okay,
tour you start as opposed to let Michael,
and I have to like, oh, man, we got to pay this man $300 million.
And then get in the middle of it, like,
Oh, man, this is a terrible mistake.
So they did, the Falcons basically right back at square one.
I said that.
For a, hold on, a long-term answer at that position.
It didn't make sense to me.
Well, hold on.
Signed First Cousins.
It didn't make sense to me.
You signed First Cousins.
You gave him this money.
He's coming off from the Keeley's injury.
Now, mind you, he was never mobile.
And he was just less mobile with the injury.
Okay.
That being said, and you go drop,
guess what?
You draft a quarterback that has an injury history.
Hmm.
And hell, he's already 24.
How was pending?
He was lambing to 23, 24.
When he got drafted.
It didn't make any sense.
It didn't make sense to me then.
It doesn't make sense to me now.
But guess what?
You stuck.
And just think, Atlanta Falca,
you could have put two first round picks on.
So let me ask you a question.
Tell me the two first round picks.
Since Lamar,
Jackson was had no tag on him that you take over him.
You could have Lamar Jackson.
See, the thing is sometimes you got to put somebody under the gun.
Everybody's talking about where they know they're not going to put no two first
rounds put them on and see if they match because they got a match or he's yours.
So would you rather have Lamar Jackson right now finishing up that deal at $50 million a year
or you'd rather be going flip-flopping back with Michael Pennix Jr.
Tua and had Kirk Cousins.
Chad, which would you rather have?
Lamar Jackson or you rather have Kurt Cousins, Michael Pinnock Jr., or Tua?
Which would you have rather had?
And that's a small example, too, that I just mentioned about the good boys colluding against you.
That situation with Lamar.
Yeah.
When he had an opportunity with teams and anybody that really needed a quarterback that came and got him,
but everybody sat back and had the nerve
and said, oh, nah, we good,
especially Arthur Blank. Like, come on, man.
But they had the memo, the memo.
D. Smith,
there was a memo floating around.
Right.
Stand down.
Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.
But we got to stay on the good side.
We can't give up too much information.
My bad, my bad, my bad, my bad.
But I can assure you, everybody in Atlanta,
and I said it at the time,
You get Michael Vick 3.0 with Lamar Jackson in that building on that turf with that fan base.
Oh my goodness.
Can you, Chad, can y'all imagine Lamar Jackson in that building on that turf with that fan base, with y'all?
Hey, it would be.
And you wouldn't even put two first round picks.
Two.
If Lamar Jackson is what Lamar Jackson is, guess what?
Those picks are going to be in the 20s.
Damn.
Just the thought of that.
You had Michael Vic and you get Lamar.
Another experience, 2.0.
That's what I would call it.
Because that Michael Vic,
that Michael Vic era, it was an experience
when you had to be there.
It's like going to, it's like going to the fair.
Ain't no telling what's going to happen.
Yeah.
But it's going to be exciting.
Yeah.
Hey, who hard in the fair?
get better every year.
Mm.
Mm-hmm.
I couldn't believe Atlanta
then put that tag on it.
I'm gonna put them under the gun.
All they can do is match it.
All they can do is say,
no, we're gonna, we're gonna pay it.
Right.
Put two first, hey, we're gonna put it.
Hey, we got an offer 250, 265.
I put a poison pill in it.
I would.
I put a poison pill in it.
Right.
I'd have guaranteed the whole contract
with a no trade.
That's how you do.
You put that poison pill
when you don't want somebody to match it.
I put that poison pill in there.
Damn, 265 with no trade clause?
Fully guaranteed.
Then Lamar would have got
an opportunity to see how,
because see, he's like, hold on,
all these other quarterback,
ain't nobody, ain't nobody had to go
like I had to go.
Right.
Joe got his money,
Herbert got his money,
Lawrence got his money
Josh Allen got his money
Banditang gave my homeboy two contracts
and I understand that
I understand
So I'm gonna say let you know what
As a matter of fact
Don't even bring my homeboy up
Because he's set to aside
Yeah but guess what
Last I checked Josh Allen
Ain't been in no soup bowl
Neither has Trevor Lawrence
Neither has Justin Herbert
So I'm just trying to figure out
Why I got to go through all this to get my money
That's how Lamar's looking
I'm telling you how he's looking at it
Yeah
he's going to be the consummate pro
hey it's going to get done when it gets done
I'm out here to do my job I have an agent
who happens to be his mom
hey they're going to
the Ravens and everything
is going to take care of itself
why we first of all
why are we having a conversation
we should be talking about this new offense
not whether or not if and when I'm going to get a contract
extension no he's going to get it for the season start
I can tell you that
I hope so.
Because you see the market now,
my home boy is 64 million.
Yeah.
Lamar looking at that,
I want 65.
You want to reset the market?
That's how he's thinking.
That's how his agent is thinking.
Right.
Now, 64 ain't going to last forever.
No.
Because you got Joe Burrell
do what Joe Burrell,
Joe Burr going back to the table next year.
Yeah.
Joe Burrell, how?
Dak Prescott do what they think they're going to do.
That Prescott's going back to the table.
Right.
Oh, ain't nobody sitting pat.
It's going to be very interesting to see how this thing plays out.
But me personally, I kind of thought Cala would kind of be more in the cat bird seat right now, Ocho.
I understand that, look, it's OTAs.
But the question is, given his history, does he understand how to study?
not to say he's not smart
from a quarterback perspective.
Right.
Especially going to a new.
Imagine when the offense
ain't built for you.
You got to learn a totally,
you got, Ocho, just think,
you got to go to a foreign land
and you ain't got no interpreter.
You got to start from scratch, boy.
That's difficult.
No, no.
No, no, no.
This, what is this called?
That's the thing
That's the thing
It's people like
Because I didn't
Oh, Joe, we didn't really have
We didn't really have film study
We just had plays
Call out the plays and run
I didn't know how to study
I didn't know what I'm like
Okay man what am I looking at
Right
Man I just see people running around
And they throw them the ball
What's going on
So who am I supposed to watch
I'm supposed to watch the offense or the defense
I ain't know
No you're watching the defense
Okay
he threw in the ball he tackled him what i was supposed to look at no you're supposed to look at the
coverage they're in how do i know that there ain't nobody say nothing i don't got no sound on
you're supposed to know what coverage they and they ain't tell me nothing you have to learn all
of that oh yeah it wasn't until coach reeves says shannon the front a lot of times the front
will tell you the coverage because they'll play a certain coverage
behind a certain front.
So if you can understand the front,
it'll give you a head start on the coverage.
So they're in the under front or they're in the overfront
or they're in a three, four,
because when they're in a three, four,
they like to play these couple of coverages.
Now you've got to look at where are they on the field.
Where are we on the field?
They like to play this coverage from, say, the 20 to the 50.
They like to play this coverage from the 50.
to the 20.
They like to play this coverage inside,
the 20 going in.
Okay.
Now you've got to look at what formation are you in.
Are you in 21 personnel?
Two our receivers,
a tight end, two running backs.
Are you in 12 personnel?
Are?
So once they broke it down like that,
I'm like, okay, okay.
Oh, you couldn't tell me,
I know what you all in.
Yeah, I know what y'all is.
Mm-hmm.
Hey, I know what y'all leave.
Hey, that's one of the greatest feelings in the world.
Boy, is it?
Come out that huddle and see whether it's a one high safety or two high safety.
And all that bluffing and all that coming down and act like you coming.
Man, get on out of here, man.
I already know what it is.
Let's go.
Yeah.
I don't care all that bouncing around.
Bro, stop that.
You ain't coming.
All you do it is making yourself tired a mile high.
Back on up because all you're going to do is drop to the hook.
Man, how you, cause?
Why would you come and that safety still way back there?
You think that safety is going to just let me take off the ball
and just turn around and he pop it to me?
Absolutely not.
Not, yeah.
Because if you was coming, he'd have been bringing his funky ass down.
And since he didn't, as a matter of fact,
y'all going to the other side because he's about to go to the middle of the field.
We have the whole conversation, Ocho.
You're not coming.
How you know, Sharp?
How you know?
Well, first of all, you're talking to me.
That's one of the reason I know.
Close your eyes, and you can hear the entire world come alive.

I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull.
It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though.
Are they the only ones that don't like that?
Nobody likes that.
As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American.

Hey, I'm Hoda Kotby, host of the podcast, Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby. Okay, if you know me, you know this.
I'm always searching for inspiration, for support, and useful tools to help maximize joy.
So this podcast lets us uncover all of that together. We're going to have these meaningful conversations with the world's most
fascinating people. Like when actress Olivia Munn shared how she overcame fierce health challenges
that she never saw coming. I've gone through breast cancer and then helped my mother through
breast cancer and that was more difficult. There's a lot of people who understand postpartner depression.
I was not prepared for postpartum anxiety. Olympic champ Sean Johnson revealed why she had no choice
but to be a gymnast. There was something about gymnastics that was intoxicating to me. It's given me
belief that we all have one of those treasures inside of us. We just have to find it.
Listen to Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is. Getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place.
As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the civil war.
To get to school, I had to go down Robert Ely Boulevard.
Get to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway.
If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is, you're not doing your job.
I'm Akila Hughes.
In Rebel Spirit, Season 2 goes deep on both of those things.
The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky State House
that's actually worth the wall space.
We are more than our bodies.
We contain essence.
We contain spirit.
How do you represent that?
They are just fueling a fire that is really catching.
You'll see what I mean.

This kid Jafar Jackson is as good as Rami Malik as Freddie Mercury,
and it's as good as Timothy Shamaulay as Bob Dylan.
And I say that with love and respect for both of those actors.
And I don't know how many Oscar nominations they give out,
I don't know if it's five, six for Best Actor.
150% this kid Jafar Jackson should absolutely positively get nominated for his.
This portrayal is Michael Jackson.
Listen to I Am Rap Report on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
I am Rapaport podcast.
Yeah.
AJ Brown has been impressed by Drake May.
I think what's most impressive to me is that he knows what he's doing.
I really admire that he knows what he's talking about, and he demands everyone else know.
And well, he's a true leader of men.
And a little, little shot, a little little cute.
I'm about to ask Ocho
because I know Ocho, Ocho, what you're thinking, Ocho?
Tim, what you're thinking, Ocho?
And you're straight.
Hey, can he, can he not give his quarterback?
Can he not, he was asked a question,
allow him to be able to answer the quarterback
and give his quarterback praise.
That's all, you know.
You know what he doesn't get his other quarterback praise like that.
Yeah.
He ain't got to be derated.
Him and the other quarterback don't want a Super Bowl.
You know, did he say he know what he doing?
And, AJ, hold on, Jail and Hurts know what he's doing.
got a ring.
I didn't know.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Hey, so, so, so, so, so, let's just say for the sake of argument.
He talked about Drake May.
Oh, no, let me finish.
Oh, Joe.
Focus, man.
Hey, so let's just say for the sake of argument.
We just do a hypothetical here.
Oh, Cambo, you know you're a Camboe.
Y'all don't see out of eye anymore.
Yeah.
He's saying the next guy.
Oh, I know.
Oh, he knows what he doing.
He's a real man.
Oh, AJ, don't shout at me.
Oh, shit.
Hey, he's talking, can she give up new man credit?
Yeah.
No.
Yeah.
Hey, Joe, look at it, Joe.
Don't look at it, Joe.
I, I, I, I, I don't know.
It is what it is.
It is, look.
It seems to me, Ocho, after peeling about some layers and allegedly what transpired,
I don't know how true it is.
And we got to say, allegedly, there's no love lost between.
And everything that he's, everything that he says is going to,
to be split, sliced,
sliced, right, dissected.
Yeah.
Or autopsy.
Yeah.
You know,
him from above.
Yeah.
He would ask a question about his quarterback,
what his quarterback looks like?
He's been there, maybe a week, a week and a half now, maybe two weeks.
And he wants to know how things look.
And obviously, you know, we've seen Drake May play last year.
He's a very, very good quarterback.
I think if he continues to have another season like he had last year,
we're going to have to have conversations about him being in the top 10,
which some might put him in right now with consistency.
So, I mean, AJ Brown, he's working with a new quarterback,
and he was asked, what is like playing with him?
He just gave an honest answer.
That's all.
Yeah, come on, man.
But you know how it is on Cho.
You got to be real, hey, you got to be real careful.
Because when you went and played with Tom,
you knew that anything that you said to praise,
you had to be very, very careful
because it was going to be taken as a show.
that you was taking at Carson.
You knew that.
You know how, the one thing to see, y'all let Ocho fool y'all,
Ocho play dumb sometime on television.
Ocho ain't done.
Yeah, he did.
He know I do that with the fans down.
Hey, you look at all.
Hey, man, oh, you come on now.
Hey, you got to understand.
I'm extremely media savvy when that camera is.
Exactly.
I think I'm asked certain questions.
I know how to play that game.
Yes.
The game.
Look, look.
Look.
Hey, when I got traded from Atlanta and went to Brooklyn,
I'm playing with Darren.
Jeff Teague even talked about it.
I was like, damn, I'm getting a chance
to play with an all-star caliber
point guard, a hell of a point guard.
Teague took offense to that.
Yes, of course.
He said that he took offense to that, Ocho,
that I said that I was going to play with a hell of a PG.
Yeah, he took offense to it.
And it's my man's.
Yeah.
You feel me?
So, y'all can say what y'all want.
Jalen Hurts are going to take offense to that, bro.
Now, he may not come out publicly and say it.
But it's human.
nature, bro.
Yeah.
What, hey, when they ask me
a quarterback, what I always say, Ocho?
What quarterback would I say? Who the top quarterback?
What I say?
I ain't no damn fool.
They tell me
what I had. They tell me the players I had to run.
They ain't throw me no touchdown.
I ain't catch one pass from them.
I wish I might put somebody in front of seven.
I don't give a damn what they say. I don't care what
their numbers are. Somebody can have a thousand
touchdown passes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And 100,000 pass a yard.
Excuse me.
Nope.
That's why you have to be very, very careful of what you say.
You do, bro.
Because you, listen, we and I just having a conversation.
You know how everybody else going to take it.
Y'all can say, I'm messy all you want to.
But I'm telling you, Joe said it, I said it, Ocho said it.
Yeah.
That you have to be careful.
Yeah.
It's a slippery slope.
Very.
And it's a slippery slope.
some of the players when you're asking them questions,
they don't understand that slope.
Nope.
They don't understand it.
They just answer the question harmlessly,
not understanding how media,
punnance, and those that hear the way it's answered
and they're going to intertwine it and say,
well, hell, are you taking a shot at your old quarterback?
Yeah, yeah.
That's exactly what they're going to say, Ocho.
Yeah.
They said the same thing as a look, man, look,
I appreciate Dan Reeves.
Dan Reeves drafted me.
But if y'all want me to say something bad about Dan,
that ain't going to happen.
but that man gave me an opportunity.
Right.
Right.
I said, hey, he was smart enough to draft me,
but somehow he forgot to cut me.
I wish I might say something.
I'd have to kick rocks.
Kick rocks.
Yeah.
If I ain't nothing else,
I'm going to be loyal to people that gave me an opportunity.
Man.
Man.
That goes without saying.
Everybody don't operate like that, though.
Yeah, that's the problem, though, Joe.
I know.
That's always, that's been my problem.
Yeah.
Because I try to see the good in everybody.
And I do believe that there is good in everybody.
But, but that good might be so far down and that bad so far up by the time you get to the good.
Hey, it'll deal to nothing over you.
I know what you mean.
Boy, experiences, boy.
I'm talking about how I've been now.
I'm talking about dealing with some people.
I swear I wish I'd never even talk to them.
You hear me?
Yes. Yes. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. I know exactly what you mean. But you know what, Joe? No good D. Golds unpunished.
You ain't never lie about that. No good D goals I'm punished. Man. But I just, I just, it's just hard for me in a situation, oh, Joe, when I've had such great success. Yes, sir. With an end.
individual, it's just, it's just hard for me to just, no matter how it ends.
And I get the skip.
Bro, proud of me, nobody, no athlete had ever done a debate.
They had segments.
A basketball guy come talk basketball.
Football guy would come talk football.
They'd bring somebody in to talk golf.
They bring somebody in to talk this, X, Y, Z.
I was the only one to sit across from a journalist five days a week.
two and a half hours a day.
Even when Fox said,
no, we want to get a journalist,
Skip says, no, he can do it.
I want him to sit across from me.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's hard for me
to let a few bad episodes
of him and I
letting our emotions get the best of us
ruined seven years.
Yeah.
That's just me.
You might ask him, he might feel a totally
different way, but I'm talking about me.
That man believed in me.
That man really,
role for me. And that man wasn't going to
take the job until they said, hey,
I won him. And he
wanted me, after one time, I did
one show across from Skip.
One show at first
take. With no producers,
no runners, it's just, it's like,
you need to think. I said, no, I'm good.
What do you want to talk about? Whatever he want to talk about.
Yeah. We end up going through
production meetings. I'm giving my feedback.
He's like, you're going to say that on there? I say,
I absolutely going to say it on there, too.
Might add a little bit more to it.
absolutely
so I'm forever
forever grateful
for the opportunity
because I'm not here
I don't have this
if Skip doesn't allow me
on his platform
and allow me
to be me
because that was the thing
he says be you
be you
I don't think he thought
me what really came with me
until it was too late
and everybody was too late
everybody loved it
Yeah.
Yeah.
He didn't think the gold mask.
I mean, he didn't think the gold mask.
I mean, when I showed up with the stocking cap and the black and milder, look, I was like, this was a one-time thing.
It went by and crazy.
Yeah.
And then I showed up with the goat mask.
Yeah.
And it went crazy again.
Man, look, like I said, we had a couple of bad shows where we allowed our emotions to get the best of us.
But two shows, three shows, four shows.
bro, we doing 200 shows a year.
Yeah.
We did 200 shows a year.
We took two weeks off.
We got two weeks off.
We're going five days a week.
So at work, maybe we went dark.
They had something.
They had World Cup or they had NASCAR.
But for the most part, we go in every day.
We did 250 shows a year.
Damn.
Minus the week, minus the two weeks, we got off.
That's the minus the two weeks.
Okay, there it is.
So out of 250 shows a year 7,
so out of 15, 1600 shows,
we have four bad days.
But it gave me the platform
and people got an opportunity to see me
in a totally different light.
They got an opportunity to see,
well, damn, he's doing no stuff.
Yeah.
Man, he can talk about anything
because I knew I had to succeed
or they're going to say, well,
hell, if he couldn't do it,
as much as they say he studied,
who can do it?
Right, right.
And then the Colin Kaepernick,
most people didn't want to touch it.
Skip's like, hey, can you talk about this?
I said, absolutely.
We have the Terrence Crutcher.
Can you talk about that?
Can you talk about Eric Gardner?
Can you talk about Sandra Blair?
Can you talk about George Floyd?
Yeah.
Absolutely.
Walter Scott.
Yes, yes, I can talk.
I would love to
Glad did you ask
I'm gonna put this old history degree
In this black college
I'm gonna put it to use
I ain't think I was gonna have to put that to use
Joe and Ocho
Yeah
Oh
Okay
Yeah
I can make fun
I got I got jokes
That's a part of me
Yeah
When it comes time to get serious
And we talk about a serious subject
Absolutely
Yeah
But
And I'm
And I told Skip.
I remember the last day, because I knew I wasn't going to come back in March.
And it asked me, I said, look, I'm going to finish.
Let me finish what I started.
I say it's not going to look good if I leave now.
I'll finish.
Hey, after the NBA finals, I'm out.
Yeah.
We're going to keep this thing.
Hey, we're going to keep it going.
I ain't got no hard feelings.
It is what it is.
Plus, y'all owe me another year anyway.
but it's
Hey
No, bro, I'm cool
Hey
Speaking of that
You see your girl
Tonight
Uh, Jenny Taff
Comitating
She was a commentator
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
She doesn't let her hair grow
Not the home team
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah
Jenny from many
Yeah
Man
She is as look
I've worked with
Of all the
All the
All the
Uh
Moderators that we've had
Obviously,
Joy and Jenny and Jen Hale.
Who else do we have?
We had Oscar De La Jollaireas girl now.
Holly Saunders, and we have Pink, Christina Pink.
We had Williams.
I mean, we had so many Elyca Sedagi.
We had Jamie Maggio.
Uh-huh.
Jen Hale, yeah, Jen Hale.
I mean, home team.
If somebody, look here.
If somebody say something bad about Jenny Tau, go ahead and call them a lot for me.
She is the sweetest, the humblest person.
I mean, ain't got nothing bad to say about anybody.
Right.
She is amazing.
And everybody that I worked with was great.
Don't get me wrong.
Clarissa Thompson, all of them.
They were great.
But the home team.
Yeah.
She's amazing.
Yeah.
She's just a good.
I guess what they say is true, because he's just a Midwestern.
She's from Minnesota.
She's just a Midwestern.
Her parents come in town.
She and I love, I want you to meet my parents.
Her brother come in Brown, Charlie, met her husband.
I mean, she's just a great, great person.
And it was great.
I mean, everybody.
I mean, from the stage manager to the makeup to everything, it was great.
My girl sent who was curated at front desk, Edel.
They were great. It was great.
That's what really, you know what?
Yeah, I was going to miss going back and forth with Skip
because I was like, you know, who am I going to debate with now?
But it was just that relationship that you build up
from props to wardrobe to camera to all of that, man.
Close your eyes and you can hear the entire world.
Come alive.

Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is.
Getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot.
easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place.
As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War.

The NFL has informed teams that it will not be holding a supplemental draft,
meaning that Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorgeby will not be eligible to enter the NFL in 2026.
The CBA allows League to decide whether to hold a supplemental draft, and this year it won't.
To sum up a letter sent to Brendan Sorosby, Brendan Sorosby,
the league wasn't planning on having a supplemental draft this year,
and Sorensby application was the only one they received with Sorensby submitting only a handful of days
ahead of the deadline.
The NFL felt that it wasn't enough time to properly evaluate the situation
and didn't have time to complete the record of an NCAA investment.
The petition did not have any supporting information or documentation as to why Swordsby should be granted entry after being declared ineligible to play by college football.
The lead did make it clear that it had real concerns regarding the pattern of improper gambling activity during Sorensby collegiate career.
The NFL used the word integrity several times within the letter in what appears to be an effort to drive home their stance on gambling.
It closes the state by playing is a privilege
and sorens me should focus on preparing for a possible entry
in 2027.
Damn.
So what is it?
Listen, I know he made a mistake.
Well, it's not a mistake.
I mean, well, everything is a mistake.
He just did it multiple times over and over because nobody knew.
Nobody found out, obviously, until it was too late.
But what does it do now?
Well, he didn't play in NFL.
He can go to Canada?
He can go to Canada.
He played one year in Canada.
He can play your own year in Canada.
Canada, yeah.
I wonder who has his rights
because that would be a good thing to do
instead of taking the whole year off,
go play a year in Canada.
Boy, I mean, look.
And get a better understanding
on how good them boys is down there.
Ain't for to be no walk in the park.
I can tell you that.
Hey, hey, all them boys down there
home rated man.
Hey, Joe, why went to Canada
boy thinking it was going to be sweet?
Hey, what happened, Ojo?
What were you, Ojo?
Who were you playing?
Then I was in Montreal, with the Al-A-West.
Okay.
Hey, Joe, it was the wake-up call every week, Joe.
No matter who he was playing.
I'm talking about Joe, I'm on the sideline confused.
Like, what the hell is y'all doing down here?
Yeah.
I'm talking about Joe like that, you know?
So think about it like this.
The NFL, NFL has its premier elite players.
Every team has their elite players.
Yeah.
When we talk about your backups and your role players,
well, hell, that could be anybody over there.
You can exchange players in Canada and put them on an NFL team
and you wouldn't know who's who.
Dang.
Outside of the elite players.
That's different.
You know, you're Jamar Chase, you're Justin Jefferson,
the Burroughs, you know, that's different.
But the resident boys down in Canada, man, stop playing.
They get down like that?
Joe, I swear I wouldn't lie to you,
especially when I'm not going to come to no goddamn football.
Them boys could play some ball, Joe.
Either was politics or number crunching or I got in trouble in college,
I didn't get an opportunity.
Because you remember Cameron Wake started off in Canada.
Yeah.
In Miami, he ended up with 100 sacks.
Yeah.
Hey, Joe, you talk about a humbling experience, Joe?
Yeah.
I mean, I'm already on the back end of my career anyway.
You know, I wanted to go to.
I think that had more to do with it anything, oh, Joe.
I don't think your heart was in it anymore.
You don't think so?
No.
Damn.
Your heart wouldn't.
It felt like it, huh?
It wasn't.
It was.
You're like, though, I keep, I shoot you straight.
It wasn't.
It's hard one of it anymore.
He boy jarring.
He's over the self.
His heart wasn't in it.
Hey, Joe, I just wanted to finish on my terms, you know.
You know, that's all.
You wanted to finish in your hometown.
And when that got taken away, you weren't the same.
Yeah.
And it took it away.
I might still get an opportunity.
You never know.
That's called my come.
Maybe you'll sit your old laugh down.
We're about to put, we're about to put, we're about to put, we're about to put, get a t-shirts with all three our hands on it.
You can sit your old head down, man.
The NCAA Division I cabinet has unanimously voted to approve its age-based eligibility model.
This will grant athletes five years of eligibility over five seasons, notably eliminating red shirts and waivers.
According to the NCAA, Division I student athletes,
will receive five years of eligibility
if they enroll in college
no later than the academic year
following their 19th birthday.
Limited exceptions will be granted
for factors such as religious missions
like BYU.
Yeah.
Guys normally,
guys normally take a missionary trip
and they have to go abroad for a year.
Military services.
You're in the Army.
You're in the Navy.
You normally have to go do a bed.
David,
a la David Robinson,
a la Roger Starbat.
Schools will have the
flexibility regarding student athletes who have remaining eligibility after the current academic year.
At the discretion of each school, these student athletes can either have an age-based model applied to them
or continue to follow the original NCAA eligibility rules.
Look, look, I think what happened is that COVID put this stuff in a tent.
Man, we shouldn't have guys, you shouldn't get six, seven, eight, nine years of eligibility, man.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry, guys.
I just can't, a guy, 27, 26, 27?
Yeah.
No, no, no.
Hey, they COVID killed it, bro.
COVID killed it because a lot of cats went two years without playing
and they still got that eligibility back.
Yeah.
And it's unfortunate because we didn't come up like that, bro.
No.
You know what I mean?
Think about it.
You can still, is it still that you can go to junior college for two years
and still have four years of eligibility at a power five?
Ash, did they bring it in there?
Okay, you go to junior college and still have four years?
No, that's how it been.
You were to junior college for two, you had two left.
Yeah, that's how, but now, that's what I'm saying.
Now, it's been like you could go to junior college,
do two years at junior college and still get a scholarship to go to a power five for four years.
Yes.
And that's how guys are starting to be 24, 25 years old.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Man, listen, it's a, it's a professional sport.
Now, okay, Ocho, we won't want to know.
18, 19 year olds of him, man.
Hey, hey, hold on, Joe.
We're trying to win now.
Yeah.
We try to rent.
If you can help us win,
we're going to give you a little bag.
Yeah, if you're the upper echelon,
meaning like if you top 20,
you know, as a freshman,
you probably could go somewhere and play.
But I say five star,
but outside of that, bro,
just a normal, regular old 19-year-old
who could play, man, please.
Damn, right.
Yeah, but it's, I mean, guys, 25.
I'm out there.
I'm 18, 19, and this guy
24-25.
Yeah, we're paying
too much money nowadays.
Damn.
Yeah, Joe, it's still,
following the recent landmark
anti-trust ruling and core actions
such as Diego Pobbia case
against the NCAA,
time spent planning at junior college level
does not count against your four years
of NCAA eligibility.
Thus, effectively allows athletes
to play two years of Juko
and then transfer,
excuse me, play at Juko
and still maintain four full years.
of NCAA eligibility.
Yeah.
So think about that.
Think about you come out of high school
and you ain't getting recruited for real.
You need to still develop mentally, physically, all that.
And you can go to junior college for two years, prepare yourself.
And then look, when you come out of junior college,
you're 21, 22 years old.
Hell, you're a grown-ass man now.
Yes.
Yeah.
You don't think power fire going to want you
because you've been in the system already.
You know how to play.
You know what it takes.
You know the grind.
You know what I mean?
That's why they like, Joe.
That's why they like guys.
They like going into the portal because that guy already knows what it's like to be a college, a college student athlete.
I guess we shouldn't call them students anymore.
They're called professional athletes now.
They just happen to go to college.
But I like, come on now.
I mean, they were doing too much.
These guys had six, seven, eight, nine.
Guy 27, 28, playing college football.
Yeah, hey, what's Young Bull name, Unk, from the Miami Hurricane, the tight end?
That was what you're 9, yeah, yeah, in school, like, you know, like 27.
This past year?
Yeah, hey, yeah, Joe, he'd been there for a little minute, boy.
Damn.
He doesn't have, he had a red, he'd a red shirt and medical red shirt, COVID red shirt.
Yeah.
Hey, can y'all imagine being 27 out there on a college field?
No.
The way you're probably cutting up in the lead.
Bro, I couldn't imagine.
I would have a school.
A touchdown, Joe.
I got to the league.
I got to the league.
I was 22 because I didn't red shirt.
Yeah.
And I was looking back.
I was like, man, can you imagine if I was a college freshman at 22,
what I would do to these kids?
Right.
I did this at 18, 19.
Can you imagine, Joe, can you imagine your first two years in the NBA,
you're a college student?
Yeah.
I average about about 28 a game.
Shit.
What?
It's just so much that you learn, bro, when you go pro.
I was figuring to say that.
You learn so much of the nuances of the game,
like how to make the game easier for yourself.
You learn great work habits, you know,
and mentally, bro, you're just in a whole,
a totally different space, man.
That's why when you look at, when I be watching college basketball,
Like, man, boy, if it was like this when I was playing, damn.
But I think the thing is, guys, we were now because the guy they make money, Joe,
ain't nobody really, unless you like the top, top guys, ain't nobody trying to leave.
Oh, Joe, I'm trying to keep to get that little one, little 500,000 million dollars.
We would try to.
The only way you get that kind of money, you had to go professional.
Now we're getting professional money in college.
Yeah, and guess what?
After, after your duration in college, that's it.
A lot of them guys ain't going to never play the game again.
Whether it's basketball, football, so you better take advantage of it while you're young.
You know what I mean?
Everybody ain't going to make it to the pros, okay, Ocho.
No.
So, hey, if I can make me a couple of million dollars before I get there and give me a head start on life?
Oh, yeah.
Hello.
Hey, hold on.
If I don't make it.
Yeah, what I'm saying.
If I don't make it, you give me a head start on life.
Yeah.
Hello.
Ocho, we have some very sad news.
Former NFL Pass Rush, Alden Smith, has passed away.
at just 36 years of age.
Man.
The Florida has released a statement.
We are devastated by the sudden and tragic
passing of Alden Smith.
Alden, undeniable talent and sure dominance
on the field, were on display from the moment
he joined our organization.
Having recorded one of the best rookie season
in NFL Football League history,
beyond his excellence as a player,
Alden will be remembered for his infectious
smile that lit up every room he walked
in. Our entire organization
sends its deepest condolences to the Smith
family and all that new and loved
Alden. In 2024, Smith had attempted to turn his own struggles into methods of helping young
athletes suggest to the pressures and pitfalls of such a high-profile job. He began the project
called I Am Loading with I Am Mean intelligent movement. The goal was to offer mentorship, recovery,
coaching for those who had endured similar life challenges. That offseason, he also served as a mentor
to the rookie classes of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Los Angeles and the O.NDAO
Oakland, excuse me, the Las Vegas Raiders,
appearing on the Kishon Johnson's podcast.
All facts, no breaks, June of 24,
Smith told Johnson he was hoping his journey
could be a cautionary tale
for young players trying to make their way.
Aldous Smith dead at the age of 36.
And we find out what the cause was?
No, not yet, huh?
I was reading. They say when he arrived at the hospital,
he was DOA.
With DOA, yeah.
I don't know.
obviously we know some struggles that he had.
Yes, sir.
You know, we were just hoping all for the best he had.
I mean, what do you have, 33 and a half sacks in his first 32 games?
He was on a, he was on a reggie white historic pace.
Yes.
And the demons got a hold of it.
And he couldn't shake him.
And I don't know, as the statement read, my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family
and all the loved ones and everybody that knew Alden Smith.
Yes, so.
It's just, it's just sad.
It's just sad.
36 years of age.
36.
Life.
Oh.
You don't know.
You don't know the demons that a person going through.
You don't know what a person is dealing with.
You don't, you know, and a lot of times, you know, man, you are all right.
Yeah, I'm good.
Are you really good, though?
Nope.
Are you really good?
You know, it's...
A lot of people say that
because they don't want to be a burden, bro.
Yeah.
They don't.
They don't.
They don't.
And I, I feel very privileged
that every time Burns called me,
he'll ask, Homeboy, you good?
I say, yeah, I'm good.
He said, Homeboy, you're really good now?
Or are you just telling me that?
Right.
I'm good.
This time, I'm really good.
They say, we create our demons.
Yes, sir.
Only we can chase them away.
Yeah.
That's the hard part, though, the chasing the way part.
Because, Ocho, every day for the rest of your life,
just imagine you being on parole for the rest of your life.
You being on probation for the rest of your life.
If you got an addiction, if you got an alcohol addiction,
whatever it is, you got to go every day and not partake.
I've got to drive by a bar.
I've got to drive by a liquor store.
I've got to drive a convenience store.
And if I go in the convenience store and I get a drive,
drink or I get a honey bunner potato chips.
I've got to walk by the beer section.
I got to walk by the alcohol section and says,
if I go to a restaurant
and have dinner with my family, friends,
or loved ones, everybody else is ordering.
I'm very, very cautious of that.
Even when they come on, when they come on Club Shay,
if they've dealt with something, we have water.
We don't have, we don't offer them a drink.
Right.
That's hard, man.
I know what it's like
because my, my dad
dealt with that.
Yeah.
And I know how I am.
You know, I come on here and I have, you know, one drink with you.
I don't really drink.
I don't drink when I'm out because I know me.
I have a very addictive personality.
Mm-hmm.
The same thing that makes you great, makes you fallible.
Mm-hmm.
Because you don't know how to turn it off.
You don't know when to stop training.
Mm-hmm.
You don't know when to stop running those routes.
You don't know when to stop shooting those baskets.
The things that make you the greatest are the things that makes you most fallible.
Yeah.
That's how it is with a hurricane, Uncle Joe, my old girl, my mama.
Yeah.
Boy, Joe, growing up, a lot of people asked me, you know, I know you drink, boy, you know
you funny, the perception on how people view me from the outside looking in, you would think
I drink and smoke weed, no porn, sitting on the couch, no shirt, bottle in the hand.
But nah, just seeing my mama, Joe, you know, when I was younger, and watching someone that I love,
turning to someone that I didn't even recognize early in the mornings.
Yeah.
If you do it was not breakfast, if that goddamn Tangerie
makes a ruby red juice.
Grapefruit juice, huh?
Yeah, early in the morning, that's your breakfast.
At lunch, the same thing.
At dinner, same thing.
And it was a constant in what, boy, Joe, when she get mad,
you already got that looking at a system?
Yeah.
Oh, Cho, your mama drank, your mama drank that tangeree?
What?
Hey, you got to be different, don't you on?
Yes, sir.
Hey, hey.
That tango ray, that seagrams?
Yeah.
That, that for them hardcore.
I mean, you hardcore.
Hey, that would care of drinking back one from.
Joe, that ain't no, that ain't no, uh, uh, a belvedere.
Nah.
That ain't no care of one.
No, sir.
Hey, what my grandma says, man, girl, you need to stop.
You drink it like a fish.
it's going to be the death of you.
Yeah.
Every time they get into it,
you stop drinking like a fish,
it's going to be the death of you.
Yeah.
On the noon, day and night,
you're always drinking.
What'd you think my mama died of?
Drinking.
Drinking.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hey, hey.
I never, I never,
I'll never ever touch a drink.
I can see why,
Ocho,
and that's good, bro.
I'm talking about,
man, listen,
I'll be honest,
like,
I didn't really have a relationship
with my pop,
until I was 26.
I was already five years into the lead.
Yeah.
He was just getting out of prison, Uncle Ocho.
Man, we're the same thing.
As a recovering drug and alcoholic,
I didn't know the signs of that.
You know what I mean?
So when he get out of prison,
he come live with me here in Atlanta.
Yeah.
He exposed to any and everything you could think of, bro.
Yeah.
You talk about opening up a can of worms.
Ooh.
Hey, hey, I had to be the daddy.
I'm the one at the AA, man.
You don't need to go out tonight, bro.
You need to-
Right, right, right.
You know what I mean?
But he couldn't help himself, bro.
He couldn't help himself by any means, bro.
You know.
That Tangor Ray, I seen it.
That Tangor Ray and that bee feeders,
Bartons, BART, A, and that Bombay Sapphire.
Yeah.
Hey, hey, guaranteed to get the-home boy.
Hey, hey, sharp man, bring some of that Bombay.
Bombay Safi sit you on your ass.
Boy.
And hold on now, you know, no, she, like, you think Wiz Cleaver smoke a lot, Joe?
No.
You think Snoop smoke a lot?
Yeah.
Your mom smoke weed?
What?
Air game, Paul.
On the front porch, boy.
Hey, Paul had the gin and the weed.
Hold on.
Oh, we're talking about with the white papers now.
Yeah.
Already pre-rolled.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Damn.
Man, stop playing.
Stop playing.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, Joe.
Hey, my mom hit their game.
too now. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. My mom hit that gas too. Hey, hey, I used to not, I
used to didn't like to have a company because soon as you step, soon as you knock on our dough,
you can smell it, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, and as a kid, I was like, hell no, I ain't
bite nobody. You know what I mean? Y'all, yeah, yeah, mom, you should get it in, boy.
Damn. That was my baby. Aldous Smith dead at the age of 36. Man.
Make sure you got to love one.
You tell them you love them.
Man.

Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is,
getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is,
getting a new one put up in its place.
I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit season two is about both of those things.
As I was watching these statues come down,
I was thinking about what it meant that I grew up in a majority of black city.
in which there were more homages to enslavers than there were to enslave people.
