The Vikings lineback of Jamal Adams suffered a season-ended knee injury yesterday game in the free season,
which reignited Graves versus Turf.
The national soccer teams played at MetLife Stadium.
for the World Cup all summer, but it returned to turf.
In 2025, Malik Neighbors towards ACL.
In 2023, Jalen Phillips, towards Achilles.
Aaron Rogers, torn Achilles in 2023.
Kyle Fuller, torn ACL in 2022.
Sterling Shepard, torn ACL, 2022.
Wondell Robinson, torn ACL, 2022.
49 is Nick Bolsa, toward ACL 2020.
49 is D. Lammon, Solomon Thomas,
toward ACL 2020.
All on turf?
Is there a difference playing on grass versus turf, Ocho?
Hey, I'm the wrong one to ask.
I'm the wrong one to ask because I haven't had any issues.
And obviously, you look at all the names that you just name
that have had injuries on turf,
but you can also do the same thing for people that have tore the ACL
that had the same injury on grass.
You can do the same thing.
Obviously, I don't have it in front of me.
I don't have the numbers or the names of people
that have been injured and tore the ACL.
For some that you do ask,
you know, a lot of people say, yes, there's a difference.
They prefer grass. Some people do.
I was one of the few players where it didn't matter, Joe.
You know what I mean?
Listen, we plan on turf.
We plan on grass.
And I enjoy the turf.
Why do I enjoy the turf?
Because I understand, even if it's raining,
I'm still going to be able to run full speed
and transition and stop on a dime.
I'm just telling you how I feel.
I'm Joe, I swear for God.
I was okay with that.
I had no problem playing on grass.
You play in Arizona.
That Bermuda grass was unbelievable.
When I played in Houston,
that Bermuda grass was unbelievable.
It was dope, Joe.
You didn't even know.
So I didn't really care what I was playing on
because I enjoyed either surface.
Joe, my black ass was playing in a pair of Chuck Taylor's yesterday
going full speed.
So you know, I don't care nothing about no surface.
Yeah, you were tripping.
I care.
I won't grass, Joe.
Yeah, so depending on who you ask, there's certain people that care.
If you ask some of the players today, yes, they prefer to play on grass.
Hey, hold on, hold on.
I don't care.
But what's the biggest difference in playing the,
on grass and turf.
Grass is more giving.
Oh, okay.
Grass is forgiven.
That turf ain't giving, eh?
Nah.
Even in the field turf, they say
what's like grass, no, I don't want
nothing that's like.
I won't what it is.
Hey, hold on.
Oh, it tastes like chicken.
No, I want chicken.
Hey, hey.
So on that turf, is that how
y'all get them big cherries on your arms
and legs and all that?
Yes.
Yes. Yes.
Yeah, no.
And they hurt, too.
You don't realize you get them until you got to you hit that shower to that water hit you.
Hey.
Hey.
Yeah.
But look, I think the thing is that I understand the players won't grass.
But a lot of these stadiums are multi-use.
They got concerts.
They got other football games.
They got tract the pools and they got rodeos and all kind of things going on in there.
So it's just hard.
It's just too hard.
It's just too hard.
Go ahead, Joe.
I'm going to say, Joe, and people in the chat
that will listen, this is also what makes it hard
for a team that obviously won grass.
If you get into the late season,
you've got cold weather.
You got to deal with the cold weather
and being able to maintain the field as well
because it's going to be messed up.
It's going to get bad.
It's harder to take care of a grass field
if you play somewhere like Cleveland.
You play somewhere like New York.
Yeah, yeah.
Stuff like that.
I mean, it's really bad.
So having turf and also from a business aspect,
being able to have other events there as well,
where don't tell you that.
Yeah.
So.
To have a concert.
You know, a Jay-Z or Beyonce to sell that concert out.
Oh, you see, Shane Gillis, he had a concert in Philly Stadium.
Yeah.
What is it?
Lincoln Field, Lincoln Financial.
I think that's the name of the field.
73, 70 plus,000.
at a comedy event.
Right.
And then you got tractor truck pulled,
big foot coming in there.
They're jumping over big old mountains of dirt.
Yeah.
And you got bull riding.
I mean, so you got so many things.
That stadium got to pay for itself.
That's, and, and owner to like,
bro, how could I, how can I speed up the process of paying for this?
They have bowl games in there.
Sometimes they have a, you know, the stadium,
they freed part over and over,
and they have a hockey game in the Ocho.
Yeah.
So it's a lot.
going on that I understand.
And everybody says, oh, ah, you say that.
But when you run a business and you try to keep calls down?
Matter of fact, there have been a few, there have been a few injuries, if I'm not mistaken,
early in training camps.
And everybody in training camp right now is on grass.
There's been some ACL injuries, haven't there?
If I think.
If you have somebody go back, if you have somebody the same way you just did and went down
the injuries where people got hurt on turf, you can do the same thing.
But there's a whole lot of people that actually play on turf.
I mean, play on grass.
There's a whole lot of teams.
They're probably less than, probably out of 32, probably less than five, if that many.
Yeah.
Play on church.
Play on grass, natural grass.
Arizona, Las Vegas, Houston.
Those are only three I know.
Unless they change it, unless they change it so far.
Yeah, I don't know if Denver is grass still because they used to have,
it used to be mainly grass, but some synthetic sewn in.
So I don't really know now.
I didn't really play that much of attention when I was downed.
I didn't even think, didn't really dawn on me.
But hopefully these guys, hopefully,
Jamal has a speed of recovery and he comes back.
But boy, ooh.
Damn.
Hey, what he heard again?
What he heard again?
Indeed.
That's crazy, man.
For the second time this summer, Aaron Donnell was listed today
as working out for the Rams on the NFL transaction wire.
Sean McVay told reporters yesterday
I'm hopeful that it would be sooner than later
but I also want to respect when he
does feel like the clarity will come
I think there's a chance that it will be closer
to that than not
but again I don't want to say too
much and put some sort of invisible deadline
on something that doesn't exist
in my mind for him
he's coming back
I don't know I think he's trying
to still get his footing you know
see how he really feel after
you know a couple weeks of practice
see how they body really
respond. Y'all know how that is, man.
Oh, yeah. You know, you're going to have to get out there
and put some of that, ah, ha, ha, ha.
Yeah, I'm saying, you know,
it's a different when you're in that weight room every day,
and you're throwing that weight around, you make a love
of that weight versus you getting out there on that damn field,
you're having the bump and ground with some guys, you know what I'm saying?
You don't know how your body going to respond.
Yeah, and the funny thing about it, too, we talk about Aaron Donald.
We talk about Aaron Donald. I'm not sure what the percentage is,
but he has a high rate percentage of having to face a double team.
So as much weight as you've been lifting, you didn't took two years off.
Now, you're going back into that lion's den.
It ain't like you just dealing with one person.
When he had 20 sacks, Ocho, when he had 20-and-a-half sacks,
he faced a double team 64.5% of the snaps.
Oh, Joe, you don't understand how crazy.
That's crazy.
For his perspective, I think Miles Garrett faced a double team about 34, 35% of the time.
So with both of them, yeah, it probably, it ain't.
Both of them.
You can't double both of them, hell.
Nah, no.
So what I'm going to eat?
Hey, listen.
You got to pick your poison.
Yeah, so if I'm Aaron Donnell, Hill, I wouldn't mind coming back neither.
If I got, if I got a big boy over there on the end, what?
Yeah, yeah.
And I know you got to double, and you got to double one of us.
You probably ain't going to double me because that boy, that day.
Hey, amen.
All things being equal, Aaron Donnell is closer to the quarterback.
See, that three techniques, he's the closer to the quarterback.
Yeah.
that's why he get double so much
and normally it's the Senate
because you line up in the tilt on the guard
Senator going to slide toward him
and you mean tell me they're going to play
they're going to play
Miles Gary's single
single coverage
man
I don't know what they're going to do boy
honestly
you probably you probably
probably run the back
the tip have the back
flared to his side chip
yep that's the only way
Hey, that's how you can double team right there.
That's the only thing to do, Joe.
Obviously, you double team Aaron Dono in the front.
And then obviously, use the tight end to help with the tackle.
And don't have the back coming out of the back field.
Already have him at the line of scrimmage.
Right?
Really offset, really offset on the back hip of the tackle.
Hey, don't even play with him.
Don't try to hide it.
Don't try to hide it.
We're telling you we're from the double team, both of y'all, every play.
But damn, don't they take away a weapon or two?
of yours, Ocho, when you got your back having
the help, and you're
tight in helping, blah, blah. Yes.
Yes. But they don't do
no good to get them out on the route of your quarterback on
his damn back.
I don't know.
That don't do anybody good.
At all at all.
You wide open and your quarterback looking at the side of his helmet.
But that look, I think the thing
is, it's like, okay, he want to get some work
in, he want to make sure he's doing the right thing.
I think he had, but, you know, he said he didn't want to train like
The mental prep that it takes for him to train and keep that mindset for a whole year, year after year.
Maybe, hey, took some time off.
Maybe he's refreshed now.
Well, you know, when you take a little time off, them wounds hill up.
You're starting to feel good.
You're moving a little different.
So you start to get that itch again.
He likes you.
Let me get back out of here, man, see what I can do.
Plus, we got Miles Garrett, too.
Boy, what?
My load ain't going to be as full as it used to be.
Huh? I don't blame him.
Hey, he's like, hey, let me go on back out here.
Hey, I can pick up a quick, I can pick up a quick 30 mil and possibly a Super Bowl win.
Hold on, what do you, what do you can pick up with 30M, a cool 30 M?
Cool 30, cool 30, man, please.
Boy, sign me up. Sign me up.
Yeah, yeah.

Our town is small taters by most standards, right?
But to the people who grew up here, it's everything.
What happens when a quiet Tennessee town becomes the front line in a battle over the future of America?

Our show is extremely accessible to first-time listeners.

We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman, not that great.
Actually, can you help me shape this?
How about we flip it on his head, right?
How about we flip this script?
Okay.
What is the surprise woman?
Actually, you think is the straight man is actually the one who's acting weird.
Adam Scott.
This entire time, you've been expecting Adam Sandler to come to visit the show.
I would never expect.
I would never set expectations for something like that to happen.
It seems like you did.
If the universe allows for something like that to happen, I'm open to it.
I'm always going to accept.
You know.
Danny McBride, fine.
Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity exuding.
I could smell it walking down the hallway, to be honest with you.
I was like, is that weed?
Nope, it's fragile masculinity.
Mm-hmm.
Ben Stiller, no.
Because a lot of times, out of context, people don't get it or even know what a circle is.
You know what I mean?
Like, you're like, oh, what's a state.
Everyone's so dumb except for you.
And fake.
Right, fake and also not interested
or just like, oh, I've got my life,
I don't care about your life.

Todd Monk says it would be unfair not to give Shadur Sanders the starting opportunity versus the bills
and split reps this week, given how close it is heading into the Bears game.
Let's take a listen to what Todd Monkett had to say today on this situation.
going in the last game that it was relatively close, you know, in terms of both having an opportunity at the starting position.
So it would be unfair to not go to the next game and allow sure that opportunity, albeit a different team, certainly at home.
There's no guarantee that, you know, the same players will be playing this game, but it's the closest you have.
And we owe it to both players who have really handled it well and have competed at a high level.
That what young bull is talking about, huh?
He's saying, look, it would be unfair not to give Shador Sanders an opportunity to start the game.
Right.
Even though they're going to split the refs during the course of the week,
considering how close it was with the Bears game,
and this competition is still extremely close.
So to not give Shadour an opportunity to start.
And he said, hey, who knows what Buffalo is going to play?
I don't know.
I don't know how many guys of our guys we're going to play.
But I know that he's earned the right to get a starting.
opportunity with the guys just like Deshaun got last week against the Bears and we'll see what
happens. Yes, it's different because Deshaun was on the road. Shadour be at home. Yes. We get that.
But it is what it is. And he says basically he deserves an opportunity. And he's going to get that
opportunity this week. I mean, that's dope. That's dope. I'm glad he came out and set the record straight.
So Shadour knows the ones, the officer line, the receivers, the running backs, they know, you know, who is going to be.
they understand whoever's calling the plays
understands exactly what Shador does well.
Those first 10-15 plays,
they can be scripted well for Shador
and what he likes to do,
what he's most comfortable with,
especially when you practice this week
and what he's had success with.
So obviously, we know you're going into the preseason
and you're playing against another team,
they have no clue what you're doing.
So therefore, it should be easy
being that everything is vanilla
outside of the blitzes that we've seen,
which is kind of weird, you know,
for a team to be doing in the preseason
outside of cover one three.
in cover two.
But outside of that, man, listen,
Shador made some good throws.
He had an interception of all.
You know, it got away from, I'm excited.
I'm excited.
I like the quarterback battle that they have going on.
But again, from the business side of things,
I know who's going to be the start.
I'm sure those who've been around the game long enough understand as well.
As much as we want to see Shedra play,
you know what to come down to.
It's Deshawn Jackson's.
Deshawn Jackson.
Jesus Christ, Ocho.
It's Deshawn Watson's job to lose.
Yeah.
Hey, I think Shadour definitely deserves an opportunity to start
and get a chance to play with the ones, Uncun Ocho.
You know, whether it's the first quarter, first half, whatever it may be,
because when you look around the NFL,
this is probably the only really competitive quarterback situation
to where you're like, damn, we don't know who going to really start in game one.
Yeah, we're leaning toward DeShun because of the money that he made
and you've got to give them an opportunity to get out there and play.
But at the same time, I think,
sure definitely deserves that opportunity regardless of how things have been
I don't think it's being clear cut as far as like their play in game one I thought they
both made mistakes whether it was Deshaun fumbling whether it was should doer you know throwing the
pick so I think they all got some room for improvement bro and I'm looking forward to the
to the competition to continue you know what I mean throughout these last two preseason
games see what we come up with yeah if you really look at it the the the quarterback competition
it's really two teams.
It's the Falcons and it's the Browns.
Everything else has been decided.
Yeah.
Now, it seems like Tua has a slight lead in Atlanta.
Yeah.
But for the most part, other than that, I think, look,
it's going to be interesting to see,
considering how well Beck played the first game,
what's going to happen with him in Jacoby Brissette?
But Jacobi Berset is making some nice little change also.
Yeah, and he wouldn't step on a few until he got it, too.
I say he wouldn't step back on that field until he got it too.
Rightfully so.
Yeah.
Because I was supposed to be the backup
last year. Y'all paid me back up money
and had me starting all these games.
Hey, give me, run me my money.
Yeah, yeah. And as a matter of fact,
give me a little bit for what you owe me too.
Like, honestly, pay me what you owe me.
But no, I think the thing is, I agree with you guys.
I think it's your door is earned a right
to an opportunity to go out there.
with the ones.
Albeit it's at home.
Crowd noise is going to be, you know, it's different.
It is.
It's different on the road than it is at home.
Everybody knows that.
Oh, Joe, you and I, we played the game of football.
Joe, you know it.
It's different playing a home game versus a road game.
Oh, yeah.
And people like, oh, it don't bother me.
It bothers me because I'm trying to hear.
And the better I can hear, the more I can communicate.
The more than you can communicate, the better things and easily things flow.
Yeah.
You deal with it.
You know, you get hand signals and you're going on silent count.
and you kind of know what we could kind of
during the course of the week
because Mike was like, he didn't give a damn.
Man, we couldn't hear.
You know that's down in distance.
You know this area of the field.
You know the place that we call doing the week.
What the hell you think we're going to call in the game?
Something totally different.
Well, hell, I didn't hear what you call.
I didn't know what you was going to call here.
But I'm anxious to see how this thing turns out.
Ocho, you believe that because of Deshawn's money,
that he's going to get an opportunity,
he's going to get the first crack at this thing
at the first quarter poll
we're going to find out if that's true
I think it's going to be contingent
how well does Shadour looks
against the Buffalo bills because I can see the
Buffalo playing. Buffalo playing their
guys now. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
They're going to play their guys.
Because they might, I believe
they probably play them game three
also considering
there's only three games
and then you've got a whole week
because if you don't play them in the third game,
Mocho, you
basically off for two weeks.
Two weeks, yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
I don't know.
And I just heard some,
something you just said.
I still don't think it's contingent.
Even if Shadur does play well against the Buffalo Bills,
that will probably play their starters,
offensively and defensively.
Maybe not,
maybe a key few players might not play.
But being that Jaws played the first game,
I'm sure you're going to play the second,
might get a little bit more time in those games, too,
being that they might miss the third.
I'm just looking at the business side of things.
I'm thinking like an owner.
I'm thinking like the person is writing a check.
I'm thinking about we gave an individual guaranteed money, $230 million,
that has missed almost the last two seasons.
So I have money that's been paid out a lot of it.
And this year he's making $46 million.
If he's healthy, he can go.
He's going to start, come hella high water.
Because I'm paying him an abnormal amount of money for a quarterback
that has given us what most would consider nothing from that said position.
So until he loses his job and we're forced to push the door in there,
What we will do, if things aren't going right by week four, week five,
we'll reach that road when we get there.
Sometimes when you do that, though, you're already out of it.
You're O and four, oh, and five, you're not coming back.
Not that team.
Playing catch up.
Yeah.
One and four, oh and five, Ocho, that team.
Yeah.
There might be some teams that had an injury, a quarterback went down for a week or two.
He'd come back.
They can run off some games.
Cleveland ain't running off no nine, ten games in a row.
They two in experience for that, huh?
Yeah.
Yeah.
They too not good for that.
We can say experience, but it comes down to they're too not good for that.
That's what that comes down to.
But look, I like, look, I don't like how they handle that situation because you took reps that you said that and he would probably expect to those reps.
Because you know, when you're younger, they tell you, hey, be ready tomorrow.
You're going to, hey, it's your time to shine now.
Yes, sir.
Yeah.
And so, you know, you go to bed.
you were expecting, like, Joe, I'm like,
ooh, man, I'm going to get out there, I'm going to do this right here.
Yeah, yeah.
I know they're going to call this play right here
because I had some success with it of this camp, you know, blah, blah, blah.
And then all of a sudden you get out there like, hey,
he doesn't told Deshaun, Deshaun, you play it.
I'm the last one to know.
You should have told me before you told Deshaun.
Yeah.
Tell me, look, Shadour, we're going to give,
we're going to give Deshaun the refs tomorrow with the ones.
your time is going to come
but right now we want to take a deeper look
at Deshawn and we're going to go from there.
Then you go tell Deshawn.
That man, Deshawn,
Deshawn already know, and he's walking around
like he don't know.
He put this pad in his pants like, yeah,
I don't know what's going to happen today,
you already know what's going to happen.
And I told you what's going to happen.
But I think Todd Monkin is handling the best he could
because he's a coaching theory.
He got no sale of the final 53.
He don't got no say over the free agency.
That's an Andrew Barry,
that's a Jimmy and Dee Haslam situation.
So I think he's doing the best he possibly can,
given the set of circumstances that he's plans himself placed in.
Hey, I like Ty Monkin because he's giving both guys a fair opportunity.
Okay, Ocho.
You know what I mean?
He's giving both of them a fair opportunity to go out there and compete for a starting job.
I mean, as a competitor, as a player,
hell, that's all you can ask for, bro.
Yeah. That's it.
You know what? I'm thinking about a long term too, Uncle Joe.
I'm thinking about a long term.
It's been a very long time since the Cleveland Browns are able to find the answer
at the quarterback position.
We all understand in order to have success in the NFL.
40 years.
Yeah, in order to have success in NFL, you have to have that foundation to continue to build
on from everything else.
And they haven't had that in a very long time.
I think long term, Deshaun Watson is not the answer.
So the back and forth between who's going to start this specific year,
between Deshaun and Shadour, it means nothing.
I think the quarterback of the future for the Cleveland Browns
will be Shadur Sanders, based on what he brings,
not just on the field, but also what he brings off the field,
as well, is going to be the guy at the helm
for the foreseeable future.
As for right now, based on economical reasons,
financial reasons, and the kind of money
that he's to be paid this year, it just makes sense.
Anyone with common sense and understanding
when it comes to running a business,
you know, the money always plays.
This game, this NFL game in general
has always been the one that
is making the money plays.
It's always been that way.
So I'm not sure why
he says, she's saying, and he should be playing.
That's not the way it works.
That's not the way this business has ever worked.
What you think, Joe?
You think that's it?
You think it should do it?
If it's even, take money aside,
and it's hard to take money aside
because we know how much the shot is making.
So it's hard to put money to the side.
Hang it. See, we can put it aside.
The people in the chat can say, we don't care about finances.
We don't care about, of course you know, because you're not writing the checks,
or the people, and this is the power, that are called the plays.
I mean, that are making those decisions.
Of course you don't care, because it doesn't affect you.
But the owner.
I'm just asking y'all, as fans of the Browns, or as fans of the store,
put yourselves in Mr. Berry's shoes, or Mr. Hatham,
or whoever it is that's writing the check,
whoever cut the checks.
Yeah, you, you,
and think about how they feel
and how they're thinking.
Yeah, I mean, it's,
it's definitely,
it's definitely some challenges,
Arcan Ocho,
because of the money that DeShan makes.
You can't have that sitting on the bench, man.
I'm sorry.
It's just,
it's hard for me to see
them having Deshaun
just sitting over there on the bench
and, you know,
not giving them an opportunity
to really showcase if he can still play
at an elite level or not.
So I think, you, you know,
that definitely going,
do that.
Hey, let me see
if we can earn a little bit of this money.
Get some of the money that we are.
Hey, can I get something?
Can I get something back in return?
Back to this topic, we got a very special guest
joining us. He's an eight-time pro bowler,
three-time first team all-pro, two-time
Super Bowl champ, Super Bowl 50 MVP.
He's an all-decade player of the 2010, and
he was defensive rookie of the year in 2011.
Hey, he'll love, he'll, bro.
I don't care where he go. He can go to the Rams, he can go to the
he goes to the commanders, he can finish with the cowboy.
But he knows, he Bronco country, through and through.
Vaughn Miller.
Bob, what's up, Vaugh.
Howdy, guys.
How's it going?
What's how they do?
Nah, it's dope, man.
Ocho, oh, show.
Man, O'Chow, man.
How's it going, man?
Man, Vaughn, I'm happy for you.
Obviously, I would have liked for you to finish your career with the Broncos,
but that seemingly wasn't in the cards.
How did this, how did the Cowboys come about?
When did this, when did you know that this was a possibility?
and when did you they finally close the deal?
Man, so they're the first team to contact me, like a week before training count.
It had been like some talks about like the Cowboys like throughout the whole offseason
and, you know, it just seemed right for me.
I live here in the offseason.
You know, my mom and my dad are here and my kids are here.
You know, I always had a little blue on my heart since I was, you know, a little boy.
Right.
You know, always paid attention to the Dallas Cowboys.
And, you know, my earliest memory of playing football,
including Dallas Cowboys.
I heard my daddy screaming in the back.
And I ran back there to see what was going on.
And he was screaming because the Dallas Cowboys had scored a touchdown.
So that's my earliest memory of playing football.
And to be back, you know, here to be back home is it's a dream within a dream.
It's like inception.
You know, the movie with Lina out of DiCaprio.
Yeah.
My dream has always been to play in the NFL and, you know,
to play for the Dallas Cowboys.
It's a dream within a dream.
And most of the time, I think about some of the people,
I'm not sure why they say, oh, Von Miller's old,
old, not the same volume of Von Miller of old.
Would you say those people, especially because you have
in a productive season last year, you know,
having nine sacks, being able to come to the Cowboys,
obviously you being from down there in Texas,
how you feel, how's your body holding up?
How do you feel a few years removed from ACL surgery?
And they say what they want to say about, you know,
my on-the-field,
but there's no question about it.
I am the best teammate in the history of the National Football League.
When it comes to being a great teammate, I just know how to do it.
I've been doing it for a long time.
I know how to bring the guys together.
I know how to win my guys over.
Every team that I've ever been on is not a guy in their locker room that I say,
you know, anything bad about me.
And that's what I care about, you know, the guys that I work with.
And I'll be able to do that here with the Dallas Cowboys.
You know, they can say what they want to say.
I'm worth, you know, 10 to 13 plays a game.
I can win 10 to 13 plays a game.
And that's with me not even stepping on the football field.
It's just the type of knowledge of the game that I know and to be able to get the guys to play around me to a level that they wouldn't normally play it.
And that has nothing to do with the type of, you know, skill that I can bring on the football field.
So being a great teammate, knowledge of the game, you know, that's 10 to 13 players a game.
And then I can still walk into 8 to 10 sacks now.
I could, that's just walking in.
That's just walking in.
Talk your shit, right?
I'm going to win one, though, Ma.
You don't need to win 8 to 10.
If you win one time a game, that's 17 sacks.
17 sacks, you'll be historic.
And I'm going to have opportunities to do it, though.
Like, we got one of the best offenses in the National Football League.
I'm going to be able to play with the league, be able to play with the league,
be able to play, you know, up by 10, up by 13, up by 17 points.
I'm going to have those opportunities.
We only won five games last year with the commanders.
You know, we got here with injuries and a whole lot of stuff,
but we only won five games and I was able to walk into nine sacks.
So just being the type of player that I am,
even at this stage in my career, I still feel like I can be affected.
But that makes your question, you get nine sacks again.
You walking away?
Because I think that had a lot to do with it.
I think if you got two to three sacks, you're like, you know what?
I ain't got it no more.
Nine sacks.
Hey, nine sacks.
There are a lot of guys that are much younger than you, Vaugh,
that can't get nine sacks in the season.
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it's, you know, like, it just depends. You know, you don't ever want to be a guy that outstage of welcome in the NFL, and then you don't ever want to leave too early either, though. So this is another opportunity for me to go out there and play. You know, I was hoping that the Denver Broncos are called or Buffalo Bills and none of those teams. You know, maybe I get another opportunity at that. But, you know, I'm only, I can only take advantage of the present moment. And I got an incredible opportunity to play with a great team, great offense. I know Christian Parker really,
well, Rashon, Gary,
Williams, Kenny Clark, they all came
to my pastor at Summit this year.
Donovan, Donovan as a
rock who I know him pretty well as well.
PJ Locke was my teammate in Denver.
Javonte Williams. I'm familiar with a lot of these guys on this football
team. They got one of the best offenses in the national
football league with George Pick, C.D. Lamb,
Deck, Descott. So I got an incredible team
to be around, and I'm excited about it.
Hey, Vaughn. When you think about it,
bro, you're from Texas. You know,
Two-time Super Bowl champ.
What do you think it's going to be like, honestly,
I'm a huge fan, by the way,
and I'm a huge Cowboys fan, so welcome.
What you think it's going to be like, bro,
when you suit up for the first time,
getting a chance to run out there and really be a cowboy?
Man, it's going to be dope.
I don't think it really just has not hit me yet.
Like, you know, I was talking about six hours ago,
and he was like, man, you know,
we're going to go ahead and pull the trigger on this.
And it still, like, it just didn't hit me yet.
Like, I kind of knew the whole time.
I have been giving like, you know, hints on social media and, like, playing with the fans on
social media by the Dallas Cowboys for weeks now.
Yeah.
So it kind of was always there, but, like, you know, to really, like, go all the way through
it, it still hasn't hit me yet.
My very first game playing in Cowboys Stadium was last year with the Commanders.
That was my very first time playing with the, the, in Dallas Stadium.
And, you know, to be like a Dallas Cowboys full time, man.
It still hasn't hit me yet, man.
It's still like in that numb stage, man.
but I'm excited to be here.
I'm excited to get started.
Vaugh, you didn't play with that 51-48 game
when Payton, you know, y'all had the blue.
No, I didn't.
That was, okay.
Yeah, I didn't play.
I didn't plan down with my very first game.
Dang.
We lost, Vaughn.
We're here joining back.
But, I mean, look at this resume.
Eight-time Pro Bowler, three-time first team all-pro,
two-time Super Bowl champ, Super Bowl MVP,
all decades of the 2010s, 2011,
defensive rookie of the year.
That is first ballot, Hall of Famer.
a member of that prize 2011 class
with Cam Newton
was the number one first pick
and you have Vaughan Miller
you have Julio Jones
A.J. Green, Richard Sherman,
Cam Hayward, Cam Jordan.
All of those guys were in that draft.
JJ Watt.
Yeah.
We're in that draft.
Damn.
They had some boys.
That was a good year.
Hey, hey, Vaugh.
We've heard you guys talk about it.
You, Shirm, you guys have talked about it
that you believe a lot of people say
1983 is the best drafted class ever.
You say, nah, when you look at our draft class from top to bottom,
you look at Cam Gordon number one, and I was number two,
and you look at JJ Watt, you look at Cam Hayward,
you look at Cam Jordan, Justin Houston had 22 sacks in that draft class.
Yep.
Is 2011 the best draft class ever assembled?
Man, you know, I'm going with that one all day.
You know, Cameron Hayward is in that draft, Richard Sherman.
We got a lot of guys.
Cam Jordan.
We got Cam Jordan.
We got a lot of Hall of Fame.
guys in that class.
And, you know, the other one, they got, they got Hall of Fame guys in that class, too.
But, you know, top to bottom, man, we got some players that have really changed, you know,
the face of football.
And it's dope to be associated with those guys.
I knew we had a special group whenever I was coming out, you know, having Marcel Darius and
Cam Newton and Julio Jones and AJ Green.
And Patrick Peterson, Patrick Peterson, AJ Green, Tyrone Smith, you know, JJ White,
wide like it just goes up and down the list you know up and down the list of guys that have had a
huge effect on this on this game you know i have a question obviously you've accomplished so much
in this NFL based on your resume based on your accolades you are you are a hall of famer if you
could write the perfect storybook ending to your career what would it look like um i mean obviously
you know the game is not fun no more like unless you're playing in big time games like once you
experience like, you know,
AFC championship games,
NFC championship games,
Super Bowls, you know,
divisional games, winning those games
and playing those primetime games.
Like, football is hard, man.
It's tough, man.
And if you're not, if you're not playing those games,
it kind of don't have that sting no more.
So, you know, for me,
I would like to continue playing in those games
and, you know, continue playing
the AFC championships to have another shot at a Super Bowl.
You know, that'd be the best ending.
For me, I only need three and a half more sacks
to be top five in NFL history.
So, you know, three and a half sags, like, you know, I can get that two, two, two, two and a half games, two games.
Yes.
You know, I can walk in a, you at one 30 and a half.
I mean, get one, one thirty eight, one thirty eight, one thirty eight and a half.
And I need one.
30 a half, one.
One thirty-and-a-half bar, put you at one-fifty.
Yep.
Now you got Bruce at two, got two-o-five.
You got a one-nine.
Yeah.
I think Kevin Green's next at one-six and a half.
I think, I think, you know, I'm just, I'm just going to be realistic and, you know,
optimistic at the same time.
I can I can walk so Michael
straight hand I can get Michael
straight hand at three and a half sacks he's number five
so I can get top five by
when it's all set it done for sure
I like that I like that hey hey we locked
in babe I'm gonna be locked in baby
you know I'm beat jay hey
I just need you get out to their quarterback
man do you thing brother do you
thank congratulations man
before you go Von
you mentioned you got kids how old is the oldest
now because they now they know what dad
does now they get an opportunity to go to the game
And I think you got girls.
So they in their cheerleading outfit,
they got a little cowgirl chilling out of his.
They're going to see excited, be excited.
They don't have to leave.
They don't have to go fly, get on the plane
and come see Dad and play.
They can just, hey, get in the car and come see Dad play.
Yeah, I got, so my oldest, he's five.
Today was his fifth, his fifth birthday.
Okay, you got a five year old.
I got a five year old, I got a three year old,
and I got a seven month old.
So, okay.
That was, you know, my oldest is dope because when the Cowboys call,
right, and I was on the phone
and I was telling everyone, I was like, hey, man, like, guess who called me today?
Like, this was about two, three weeks ago.
And my oldest son, he was paying attention.
And I got on the phone with one of my boys, and I was like, hey, like, guess who,
what team called me today?
And my son said, the Dallas Cowboys called my dad.
So he's at that age where he's at that age where he's conscious of what's going on.
So that's right.
You know, that's what I always wanted for my kids to be able to remember and not just had
to go to YouTube and see what type of player I was.
So, you know, for them to be conscious and aware, it's super cool.
cool. Hey, Von, I got a four-year-old son over here, man. Hey, look, I'm trying to put
this squad together. I might need you, I might need your boy over here, man. You say you got a
fire yo. I'm trying to put a squad together now. Yeah, I got a five-year-old. His name is
Valor. My three-year-old, his name is Victory. He was born on the same day as Super Bowl 50. So,
he was born February 7, 2020. Then I got my youngest. Her name is Virtue. She's seven
months. Her birthday was February,
her birthday was December 26th.
So right after Christmas. Wow.
Damn. Damn.
That's dope. Well, Vando, hey,
I mean, I know that you got, you got to do
what you got to do with the Cowboys this year,
but don't, don't, don't give up hope on the more Broncos.
No, I'm not. I think you got
one more round than you. You fresh up
like your favorite dog did. I went back
one last time. It didn't work out.
It didn't get to a Super Bowl, but I got a chance to come home.
Man, I try, man,
you know, like, I tried. And I'm,
you know, I've never been scared to, you know,
get on the phone with the gym or Texas gym
or let Broncos country know that I'm still thinking about the
Broncos. Like I've never been scared. I never had too much proud of ego
to let my teams that I played for before know that I'm still interesting.
And I did that. This offseason, I did that last off seat as well.
And we'll see how it going forward. But, you know,
I'll definitely end my career with the Broncos in some form of fashion.
Hey, before we get you up, just the last one we're going to get you out of here.
You're a co-founder of Green Pastor Chicken.
Break down the chicken business.
And why these damn eggs so damn high?
You know, my chicken company is Green and Pastor's Chicken.
It's based here in Texas as well, right outside of Ilgin.
We have a pasture-raised organic, non-GMO.
He mainly raised product.
One of our biggest partners is Meet Church with Matt Pittman.
He's the official pit boss with the Dallas Cowboys as well.
So it was so many things that just made sense for me to sign up to Dallas Cowboys.
You know, we sell our chickens at Central Market here in Dallas.
You know, and other teams, like,
you talk about Green and Pasture Chicken,
you have to get online to order it.
Now you can just go to Central Market here in Dallas and go buy our birds.
So it was just so many different things that made sense for me to sign the Dallas Cowboys.
But Green and Passage Chicken, you know, they live a country club lifestyle.
I think you can taste, you know, the difference in our birds.
And you can go to Greenopassistchicken.com to really check it out.
When I come to Dallas, I'm going to check a buy.
because you are ag major at Texas A&M.
Yes, sir.
Paltors son.
I don't look something being raised on the farm,
so I don't look something about chickens but self.
So, Bob, I'm proud of you.
I'm happy for you, man.
Congratulations.
And to stay healthy and wish your best to look.
Hey, I appreciate you guys.
Thanks, man.
Thanks, Joe.
Thanks, thanks, oh, Joe.
I appreciate you guys, man.
This is cool.
Go Cowboys.
Yes, sir.
To do it.
Man, Joe, stop all that foolish stuff.
Come on, man.
Hey, come on.
Why, you stay and hate on me?
Man, what me and Von can't.
You know what I'm saying?
Kick it like how we do.
doing. I'm happy for Vaughn. I ain't happy for you. Damn. I know I know we I know him 15 years. I just met you like
two months ago. But congratulations, Vaughn. I'm happy for you. Tell him that's in a low man and we'll see you down
the road. Hey, I appreciate you guys. I have a good one. Yeah, when you get that first sack, come back here
and tell us about it. I got so. I got so. Yeah. Vaughn Miller, ladies and gentlemen. There's no

Our town is small taters by most standards, right?
But to the people who grew up here, it's everything.
What happens when a quiet Tennessee town becomes the front line in a battle over the future of America?
Developers with right-wing ties have purchased hundreds of acres of land in the area.
The first thing you see when it pops up is pioneers in Appalachia.
But they weren't just planning how to do.
We need cities on a shining hill that exemplify and embody the Christian way of life.
Stop right there. Is that normal?
A podcast about what happens when a small town becomes the site of a social experiment.

Everyone has a good time, and no one gets mad at their public.
for letting them do our show.
We've had a lot of great guests like Sarah Sherman.
Not that great.
Actually, can you help me shape this?
How about we flip it on his head?
How about we flip this room?
What is the surprise woman?
Actually, you think is the straight man
is actually the one who's acting weird.
Adam Scott.
This entire time, you've been expecting
Adam Sandler to come to visit the show.
I would not.
never expect, I would never set expectations for something like that to happen.
If the universe allows for something like that to happen, I'm open to it.
I'm always going to accept.
You know, Danny McBride, fine.
Yeah, it's all this fragile masculinity exuding.
I could smell it walking on the hallway, to be honest with you.
I was like, is that weed?
Nope, it's fragile masculinity.
Ben Stiller, no.
Because a lot of times out of context, people don't get it.
or even know what a circle is.
You know what I mean?
They're like, oh, what's just a state?
Everyone's so dumb except for you.
And fake.
Right, fake and also not interested or just like, oh, I've got my life.
I don't care about your life.

Andrew Brown, Jim, Andrew Barry,
spoke to our very home, G-boy Joe this morning
and made it clear the Sean Watson contract
will have no advantage over to Dior Sanders.
Let's take a listen to what Andrew Barry had to say.
this morning. And it's a lot of people I know if you heard that said, you know what,
they're paying Watson too much money to not starting. How much pressure is on you to start
Watson because of what you're paying? It doesn't matter what they're paid when they're on the field.
What we want are our wins and performance and production. It's a performance-based,
you know, decision. The contract does not matter. We're pleased with both guys. You know,
ultimately, it's a, it's performance and production. That's going to drive the decision for Coach
From that last game coach, how would you rate the performances, though, from the, from the
quarterbacks?
I think we saw good things from both guys.
You know, obviously, look, it's preseason.
So, you know, guys, guys aren't going to be perfect.
You know, Deshawn, we were really pleased with how we operated the offense.
You know, he navigated the pocket well.
He was accurate.
When we had either miscues or a look that, you know, we weren't necessarily expecting down
the field in coverage, he did a really nice job.
You know, he didn't break off like a huge scramble, but he did a good job of turning a play
that really should have been a negative into a no game or a short game with his, you know, with his legs.
He's putting a lot of hard work over the past last year plus.
And then Shador, I think we continue to see major growth in Shador's game, both in terms of his processing speed.
Obviously, don't like to see the turnover.
On the whole, a lot of good to take.
And then some good moments where we're going to be able to coach off of them and then really improve as we go into the Buffalo week.
Yeah, yeah, definitely.
Oh, Joe, you believe what he's saying?
Um, come on, um, man.
I mean, listen, I respect Mr. Berry, huh?
You hear me?
I respect him.
I love him.
He has a very tough job to do.
But to sit there and say that what you're making does not have any significance,
whether you start or not when it comes to money,
come on, man.
I'm saying, Ocho, what else?
And Joe, in the history of this game has ever,
has never happened where someone's making that kind of money.
and someone else beats them out of their position.
It just, it just, it hasn't happened ever.
Ever.
Listen.
It's okay to, you know, when you ask this,
like a politician, you ask a politician
that answered a question without really answering it.
And if you know the game, understand the game,
you understand the menace when it comes to this game,
you know they're lying.
Yeah.
Like, come on, man, you don't, I understand it,
but he has to do that.
He has to come on and say that.
You can't tell him.
of the truth.
But even a blind man can see how
this business has always worked
when it comes to the person making the most
of the money. They've always been
the starter. If you play receiver
you're making the most of money. Who's getting the most
opportunities, Yon?
You got to pay them, but they get paid the most.
Come on, man.
It's just hard for me to see a guy, Joe,
that's making that kind of money that doesn't get
the opportunity to start. Now, I'm not saying he's going
to start all 17 games.
But I just don't know how he's on your roster and he doesn't start day one.
I'm not saying he start day 50.
I'm not saying he start day 30, day 45, day 85.
All I'm saying is just hard when one guy is making 46, 47 million and the other guys making a million and a half.
It's just hard for me to see it.
Yeah.
It's a tough situation.
But, hell, he can't come on there and say that it does play a factor.
You know, I thought he, you know, he had to answer.
the question politically correct.
And the fact that I think they definitely want to give Deshaun an opportunity.
You know what I mean?
You have to give them a chance, bro.
And like he said, they both show some great flashes, obviously the turnovers,
but for the most part, it's still wide open.
And the fact that they're giving those guys a chance to compete for their job,
I mean, I think that's as a competitor as a player, that's all I would ask for, bro.
But be honest with me.
Don't have me out here competing Uncle Ocho,
knowing damn well I ain't got a chance to win the job, bro.
But the thing is, somebody said in the chat,
where they did it with Tom Brady,
Drew Bledso got hurt.
Yeah.
Now, the reason why Drew got hurt,
Tom came in,
Coach Belichick felt that Brady was playing better
than Drew before Drew got hurt.
He had the hot hand.
So that's not.
Brady had a high name.
He did not start the opening week.
He did not.
Yeah.
So it's a totally different thing.
If Deshaun, if Deshaun playing, hopefully doesn't get hurt, he gets benched.
But the question, but the thing was, you said that Brady did it with Bledso.
That didn't happen.
Drew started the first five games.
Drew got hurt.
Tom came in.
Against the jest.
Coach Belichick felt that Tom was playing better than Drew before Drew got hurt.
Yeah.
That's what Mike Shanahan told us.
because Ocho, you know the general rule of thumb,
you can't lose your job because of injury.
Mike Shanahan said, that's bulljive.
He said, if you get hurt, the guy comes in,
and he's playing better than you before you got hurt,
that's his job.
Hello.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And think about this.
If you start your door to start,
I just think it's hard to sit Deshaun on the bench,
making that type of money.
Y'all don't think they'll just try to get rid of them,
maybe they'll eat their contract.
They probably won't be able to trade them.
But hell, if you do it win the job,
you can't have, you can't have Deshaun sitting over down on a damn bench.
Yeah.
Same thing.
Tony Romo, Dach Prescott.
Yeah.
You look at the way Dach pre- you look at the way Dach played in the regular season.
As a rookie,
Tony back was injured.
But they said, you know what?
The way this rookie playing,
he's playing better than what Dach played last year.
Yeah, we have to stay with Hill.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And Tony been in the broadcast booth every since.
Yeah.
Back and Zeke was a monster day rookie year.
Yeah.
Them boy were cutting up.
I get it.
It's so funny.
It's so funny.
Russell West.
There's a big difference between 47 million and a million five.
Mm-hmm.
It's a big difference.
You know, it's funny, too.
I like the fact that Joe and Debo were able to get Mr. Berry on the right.
but what I don't like is how people eat it up
how people eat it up and don't see through
the politically correct stuff
they do they see because
because they don't
I think some people actually really believe
they really believe like you can't
you can't be that you can you know what
I was I was going to go into politics
but I'm not going to go there because that's not
In other words you want to say next people can't be that naive
and believe
okay right right
I'm not going to go there but like come on come on man
I just
I'm like
that was dope though
it's a close race
it's not
it's not like
either guy is that much
ahead of the other Joe
it's not like
you saying boat
and he racing the field
from 2008
2012 when he was just
he was jogging
and looking back
side and side of people
it ain't that
it's close
or they were already
named a starter
yeah you see what they did
you see what they did
in Minnesota
Yeah.
They already named the starter, didn't it?
Yeah.
So if it was, if one guy, I believe,
if one guy was so much better than the other,
they would have already named a starter.
The mere fact that they haven't named the starter
lest you know this thing is really, really close.
Hey, I do think they got a guy who they leaning toward, though.
That could be the case, Joe.
I think they got a guy who they leaning to it.
And I don't think that they won't come out and say it,
but I do think they have a guy who they really want to lean to it.
But I did hear him say something very interesting
He said, you know, didn't like the turnover from Shadour
Yeah
If I didn't know that, I could have swore
DeShan fumble the ball
Yeah, yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Did y'all hear that chat?
He made sure to know
One guy turned them all over
When both guys turned them all over
Yeah
That's one game, man
You know
You say he's Ocho, when you're an investigator
or you're a psycho when you're evaluating people
you don't listen to what they say,
you listen to what they should have said.
He could have said, you know,
I thought we thought you should try and play well.
Obviously, we don't like to turn the ball over
the thing that we do.
We'll stay on the field.
But he may know that you do or turn the ball over.
Yeah.
When he could have easily said,
both guys turned the ball over.
Okay.
I'm just, you know, sometimes I put my little psych hat on it.
Okay, I try to evaluate.
Okay, what did he say?
say? I like that. What should he have
said? Yeah. Why did he say that?
It's going to be easily
just to say that. It kind of got the same result.
Huh, interesting.
Look, there's no easy
solution here.
There's not. There's not.
Oh, it's easy. It's easy. You think so?
No, it's easy. It's not complicating.
Everyone else is complicating it.
Everybody else is complicating it, Joe.
I told you from jump. When we first,
first had this discussion.
Who job it is to lose?
Number fours.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, but I'm saying, no, no, no.
I'm saying it's his job to lose.
But the mere fact that he hasn't been named,
it tells me that he's not running away with the competition.
Now, it might be a situation, no, Cho,
that they, hey, they already know they got their quarterback
and they just try to keep everybody to keep the natives from being restless.
Yeah.
You don't think the Browns organization
is joining this, the extra press, the extra media,
the constant conversations, the eyes on them,
you don't think they're enjoying this?
They like this.
They don't want to name a start.
Well, they're getting talked about.
For what?
When is the last time that's happened?
I've never seen the Brown talked about
in this magnitude ever since 12 got there.
Somebody in the chat said,
the clip got cut short,
but he did mention that later that both quarterbacks
turned the ball over.
So. Okay.
But look, at the end of the day, they're going to have to make a decision.
And somebody's going to be very unhappy with that decision.
Yep.
And when you make a decision, anytime you make a decision,
somebody is upset with the decision that you made.
There's never been a decision where everybody is happy with a decision that's been made.
I defy you to find a time in history,
regardless of what the scale of the event was,
that everybody was happy with the decision that was made
because that's why you have to be careful
when you take a stand against anything
because no matter what,
if I say, Ocho, I want to save the whale.
They're going to say, what about the elephant?
What about the rhinoceros?
If I say, you know what?
I'm going to start a campaign
and I want to rescue, I want to save,
I want dogs, I don't want to put any dogs down.
Somebody going to find something.
Yeah.
I got cancer.
What about heart disease?
What about diabetes?
Joe, you can't make everybody happy.
You can't, bro.
You can't.
Man, I want to rescue children all across the world.
Man, you need to rescue these black people right here in America.
You keep on talking about, hey, you keep on talking about save the wild officer and save the ninja.
Save the ninja.
That's who needs saving.
We go in this state.
Oh, boy.
But that's the idea.
So you got to just realize that any time you say something,
somebody's going to be directly opposed to what you said.
And you got to be able to live with that.
You got to be able to stand on that.
Because everybody, I can say Tom Brady is great.
And they're going to say, what about those great defenses that he had?
Yeah.
What about this?
What about that?
Well, Peyton Manning.
Well, Peyton Manning, look at all the games that he lost.
He lost his first five or six playoff game.
Everybody going to be happy with what you say so.
you know what it is.
You just,
you say what you feel,
you believe you,
you believe you correct
and you just go with that
because everybody ain't
going to be happy
with what you say.
You can't.
You can't make everybody happy.
It's going to be a remote.
Because you make everybody happy,
one person I know
that's going to be very unhappy
and that's yourself.
Yep.
So you had to bet any money,
any amount of money
that meant something to you.
The guy that trots out there
with the first snap,
opening day is who
DeShan
Joe and I bet anything
Joe Ocho going with
Deshawn because of the money that he's making
I ain't I'm going
I need to see these last two games
I'm sorry okay I mean because I think
Shadur getting to start this game too
I think if he plays lights out
and let's say Sean don't
Deshaun don't have a great showing
I think he can lean more towards Shadour
I'm just going out Barry
from from what he was saying in this interview
you know, there's no clear frontrunner.
So if Shadour takes that lead,
he plays great in this second season,
and he takes it, I think he'll be,
I think he'll be in the front runner
as far as who'll start, you know, come game one.
