Bigside.
For this episode of Debo and Joe, I'm your host, James Debo Harrison, and I am here with my host.
My co-host, Joe Hayden.
Yes, sir, yes, sir, yes, sir.
You're going to jump straight into it because we got our first guest.
Yes, sir.
We got a little messed up things.
We can get back to that later.
But right now, we have Mountain Washington.
Yes, we do.
Yes, sir, yes.
Please go back to the show.
My brother, yes sir, yes, sir.
How are you doing today, man?
I'm good, man, blessed.
Yes, yes, you are extremely blessed, man.
I think you're going to collect a little bit of money, too.
Big congratulations.
I wanted to get to know you a little bit better before I'll ask for some of it,
but, you know, time is short.
So, you know what I'm saying?
Look here, man, I know you talked about, you know, as the year progressed,
actually just right now we were talking about it,
and you wanted to get your body weight down to a certain number.
And that approach, is that something that you just figured out through the course if you plan that, you know what, you feel better at a certain position?
Or you're just like, you know what, if I could get lighter, I feel like I'll be able to move better.
I'll be more functional, be able to do more at my position.
Yeah, for sure.
Definitely just last year, at sometimes I felt a little heavy.
So personally, you know, I just want to have a different approach this year.
So, you know, my goal is by, you know, regular season, you know, be a certain weight and then just keep trying to climb down and just keep trying to get, you know, where my body feels right for me.
Yeah.
I tell you this, ma'am, whatever way that you feel comfortable, I think you should be able to play it that way.
Because when you know when you're being able to move and just stiff arms and hurtling over people, so whatever ways I feel like you get to do that because you were bawling out.
But with Mike McCarthy now being an offensive coordinator, what what differences does he?
bring to the offense you think for you?
For me, it's for sure a big difference.
You know, personally, I never had an head coach in the office
meeting room. So that's the first big difference I noticed
of Rick. And just him being a tight-in friendly guy, you know,
our O-C, you know, you used to coach tight-in back in the day too.
So I just feel like this whole offense is just a different level
compared to last year and, you know, years before.
Okay. Okay. Yeah, I like that.
So he's actually in the offensive meetings and, oh, he's hands-on.
We don't like that a whole lot.
What would you say are your 2020-6 season goals for you, bro, coming in this year?
Me, I don't like to put numbers on things like that.
I just like to, you know, just better, you know, personally, just do everything better than what I did last year.
So, you know, that's just personally, you know, me, like I say, I don't have to put numbers.
So if it's dominated more in the round game or less drops or, you know,
more yards, more catches, whatever it may be.
So I'm just trying to prove in all the areas that I can.
So A-Rod, whoever the quarterback, you know, could trust me and, you know, just depend on me.
You know, I just want to be one of those guys.
Thanks.
How was that relationship with you and A-Rob developed?
You know, through the course of from last year to now, you know, where you're at in training camp.
And then, like you said, with the addition of Mike McCarthy, how was that, how is that developed?
Is it a add-on to more of what you were doing last year, or is it a total mix?
It's really hard to say.
You know, with A-Rod, you know, just his time being here.
And, you know, he's an older guy.
So when he hosts them meetings, like last year, for example, he'll host his own meetings with all the guys.
And, you know, he'll call you out.
So just make sure, you know, you're on top of your game.
So, you know, I just try to be all years, you know, to be where my feet is.
So if it's learning with A-Rod or even if we got at his crib, you know, learning and watching family.
So y'all do do the way you go and you go to the crib.
Y'all sit down and do y'all in turn on meetings and he goes over things that he sees.
So y'all can get that non-form communication in the game.
Oh, yeah, that's correct.
Yeah, I just feel like adding him or keeping him and then adding my mind.
I feel like it's just a plus one way.
Okay.
I got the question for you.
It's supposed to seem like a weird question.
But artists, linebacker, or delinement, end for you.
It's a few.
I start off, is it Darius Smith?
Yes.
He gave me, he's a bigger guy.
Because, you know, I'm pretty much one of the biggest.
so.
So, you know, my first time matchup, you know, he gave me, you know, a good run.
This past year, Chicago game, Slet.
He was one of those dudes.
You know, I played, you know, whatever.
And then, I mean, you got to throw him all, Gary in there, you know.
He's one of the, you know, a great passers in today's game.
And then, I mean, you know, TJ can be obviously.
Run block.
Run block.
Oh, run block.
Anybody in there, they're.
you worried about a linebacker.
They should run.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
How many people are you worried about anybody,
Brown blocking?
I mean, besides the Darry Smith,
the young dude on the Chargers, number 45,
wine kid smoking to probably need the kid.
He was solid.
Yeah, big a lose than other than I mean.
That's what I like, here, listen, man,
I'm trying to get you to let him know,
listen, there ain't no trouble.
If I'm walking around like Mount Washington,
I'm not scared of anybody.
No, who is.
anything.
Come on, Dibu.
Hey, D.
So you proved yourself last year, bro,
and I love the fact that you're talking about,
just not numbers,
having to be the increase,
just on tape, everything.
Like, every, all pluses,
no minus is on tape, man.
So I think if you do that,
like, that's a great mentality
because there's no other way
but to do better, you know what I'm saying?
You got that in your mindset.
Hey, which one?
Pancake block or a touchdown case.
Hold up.
The pancake block.
It's four touchdown.
It's for a touchdown.
It's a block.
It's on the block here.
I got to get that pancake.
I got to.
That was definitely like, you know, that's something my heart on.
I got to.
Yes, sir.
Yes, sir.
I like it, baby, man.
We appreciate you.
Well, sorry, we appreciate having you.
Join us, brother.
We'll let you get up out here.
We're trying to short.
But we appreciate it, man.
Thank you for coming.
Thank you, ma'am.
Thank you, sir.
That's sir.
Yes, sir.
So here, that is my in Washington.
Come on.
The.
Tie the end.
Watch out for the stiff hand, the shoulder.
Put them.
Anything.
We got to watch them.
We need to plan no games,
no.
All right?
Real talk.
Look here.
Let's look at this, though.
Joe, what I need to check out is what Cleveland is doing.
Oh, you can look at all, my brother.
Thank you, though.
Listen, so Cleveland's chance, they say they plans change.
I guess the boy.
You got to have a real.
conversation now.
This Sean Watson and should do a sandwich.
Yeah.
And then rotating first team rest.
Yes.
And team one,
one,
once you do a standard instead of the practice
first in the muffins.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
The time took every rep with the number one unit, though.
Hold up, listen.
Keep going.
You got to give the whole breakdown.
The door split the remaining reps.
Mm-hmm.
With the two.
Munkin said just minutes before practice.
that Hisham might seem up with a 7-07 bushel store would take the majority of the one
reps today.
That did not happen.
And a source.
A source told Mary Kay Kat, you know her.
I love my case.
Facts.
That Michelle Watson knew he would be the first team quarterback on Saturday, before.
Before Todd Munkin told the media that it was Shored Saturday for the ones.
Joe, what's going on, bud?
What's all that going on over there, Joe?
This is the nonsense I'll talk about.
This is the self-inflicted wounds that we do to ourselves.
Coach Todd Munkin, we need to be PR trained.
I think our coaches, they put their foot in their mouth sometimes.
Look, we understand that.
He's not putting your foot in your mouth.
They said he knew beforehand.
So he's lying in.
But I'm saying like, we've lied before.
The GM is lied and said like, oh, we're not going to trade.
And then a couple months we trade.
He did this too fast.
You said 45 minutes before practice that Shador Sanders was starting.
And then walking out, you know he's not going to be starting.
So if you just say, Sean Watson, I think I wanted to see him have a couple of these looks.
I think he's going to be a starting quarterback today.
Just say that so it doesn't bring up these questions.
Do you know what I'm saying?
Like, let me get the reps and you need to wrap.
Listen, man, we're going to talk about this later.
We got our O-C in here.
Brian at Toledo.
Hey, bring him on the end.
Listen.
Yes, sir.
Listen, let's be coming up on.
Thank you, so good.
Thank you.
How are we doing?
How are you doing?
Divo, how you doing?
Pleasure to meet you.
Yeah, sir.
Pleasure to meet you.
Yeah.
Oh.
Yeah.
Yes, sir.

The definition of what is a movie has kind of changed anywhere, too, right?
What do you think it is now?
It's images and words being spoken, captured by some sort of technology.
Danny McBride.
He loves Mouthing.
Oh, that's fantastic.
And you make it on, you make your own.
That's great.
I call him Terro Reed.
It's a good name.
They're all named after cast members of American Pie.
Yeah.
Oh, gotcha.
I call, I don't, I never looked up if she was in this, but I call him Leachy Sobiesky.
I don't think she was an American pie, but I still liked that.
Haven't looked it up.
She was prominent around the same time.
Then Mary Steenberg.
Why are you guys talking to me?
I'm worried.
Why are you talking so down to me that you think I don't understand your little play game?
I just really, I get it.

Yeah, 15.
You're good.
Brian Angelico.
Angelico.
Angelico.
Good.
I got it.
I got almost.
Yeah.
Doing better most.
Look here.
So I'm hearing like, I guess in 96 you were with the ethical?
Yep.
Linebacked.
Yeah, started out on defense.
Yeah, like the transition into what you are now, a great office, Courtney, a great mind.
Like, do you ever miss the defensive side?
Do you ever think about it?
Yeah, I thought I was going to be a defensive coach.
I coach secondary and linebackers.
But I think it helped, you know, seeing that side of the ball for,
three, four years and getting a chance to go over on the other side.
Yeah.
Yeah, definitely with the transition, getting an understanding.
That's one thing that I actually didn't really pay much attention to.
I was younger as players, having an understanding of how things
work on the office side and having a better understanding that way you can actually
help yourself when you put on the defense.
Absolutely.
That's what we do.
We try to pick the defensive players' brains all the time.
you see there and that's what's great the communication the collaboration with them so I always
even when I was a young coach I would go to defensive clinics when I was coaching offense so
you can learn what the other side's doing how do you like reunited so you were with coach
McCarthy before sure yeah it was like reunited is a little different oh it's been great you know
obviously you know coach went on to Dallas and you know I was out doing my thing you know
eight years later but you know having a chance to grow and
different things and you know where coaches taking the offense for when he left Green Bay so it's
been really neat to get back together and see what what it's become yeah I guess the previous
was it four years you were with Minnesota right yep okay that transition from Minnesota to
Pittsburgh what's the difference if there are any differences in the processing or just the
organizational lead from Minnesota
with this. Yeah, for me it's been an easy transition. Obviously, blessed to be a part of a great
organization here in Pittsburgh. And Minnesota was, you know, great organization, treated the players
well and the coaches well and that whole family atmosphere. And obviously, you know, the Steeler fans are
second to none. So that's been really neat. And I actually was at University of Pittsburgh with Dave
Wonstead from 2006 to 10. So, yeah. So I, so I,
So I just, instead of going right, I go left now.
So I, yeah, it was neat to come back because, you know, there's people I still got to know from Pittsburgh.
So it was really cool to come back.
That's good.
Who is your inspiration, coach that got you started and the inspiration to be a coach?
Yeah, I think, you know, I loved, you know, sports growing up.
You know, your high school coaches and teachers, you know, they inspire you.
so I was going to be a, you know, a phys ed teacher and coach football in high school.
That's what I thought I was going to be and played Division III football and baseball
and wasn't good enough after that.
So I'm like, all right, what am I going to do?
I really didn't like study.
And so I'm like, sports is what interests me.
So I just went right in and was a graduate assistant.
And, you know, I came from small college ball.
I started and I was in Division III football for 10 years, coaching football and baseball.
So it was, you know, I thought I was going to be there and takeover as the head coach.
But then I had an opportunity to join Dave Wonstead at the University of Pittsburgh
and was fortunate enough to keep climbing.
Yeah.
Because we had some time in Pittsburgh.
I mean, you had some time in Cleveland.
Yeah, oh, yeah.
Yeah.
That was our fun days.
Yeah, I wish we won a few more games.
You ain't lying.
Although we actually were in first place.
7 and 4.
7 and 4.
In Cincinnati.
Yes, yes.
beat Cincinnati on Thursday night.
Oh, man.
We'll go to the playoffs.
I know.
That was, and then injuries happened.
NFL happens.
NFL happens.
Exactly.
Yeah, my God.
Coach, as an OC, when you're looking at a defense and you're getting prepared to play it against that defense,
are you just going in and saying like this is what we run or are you looking at it as,
what is it that we run that we can, that I see that we can take advantage of?
Or is it a combination of?
of boat. Yeah, I think, you know, you're obviously trying to attack their weaknesses where you can
get the matchups that are favorable to you, but we're not going to, like, reinvent the offense
every week. We try to have a, you know, pretty diverse, you know, playbook where we can get the
matchups on our terms, everything that we're trying to do. So that's really, you know, how can you
exploit it? And where we're blessed is, you know, what grouping you want to play in, you know,
where you have, you know, like guys like Darnell and Muth and, you know, you want to
of playing 12, 13, 22, 11, right?
To try to get the, as you guys well know, the personnel grouping on the floor.
You want to be in base and sub and I want to go away from the nickel.
I want to attack the boundary.
So those are things you're trying to do and mixing people, moving people around.
But ultimately you're running the core plays.
And then you'll have a play that will be off of a play that you've shown on tape.
Because you guys are studying.
You guys are studying that.
So, you know, trying to get what their check is, what formation, what, what's, what
what splits get them in a sky check, cloud check, you know, all that kind of stuff.
So that's all fun.
How many coaches, OCs, do you think actually come in with that mindset?
Because to be honest with you, man, it's not a lot of people that I've heard that actually
think that thought process of how they're going to attack an offense.
Yeah, I mean, I think they all do.
I mean, I think it's just what you're willing to do.
Like, there's a philosophy.
do what we do or we're trying to.
Right.
I get a lot of we do.
Yeah.
And I think, you know, you have to do what you do.
We have to do.
You have to do well.
Like, I absolutely believe in that.
But I think it's, you know, the creativity of how you can adjust splits and, you know,
dressing up and help guys get off releases with motions or stacks.
Yes.
You know, because, you know, you're going against those good corners.
You got to help to guys, you know, you just can't leave them out there where they're pressed
or they got help over the top.
So you're just trying to.
you know, get ways to do that.
Yeah, disguise.
I mean, like, we try and disguise as a defense.
Y'all do it, y'all do it with motion and different formation and trying, you know,
build it instead of just coming out there and sitting in it.
Over the years, like, you know, I've learned like, okay, yeah, this is the same thing.
They didn't, they just didn't come out in it.
Yeah.
They built to it.
Well, we, in Minnesota, it was Justin Jefferson.
Like, Jeddas, we were, you know, they were going to have a plan every week for him.
So it was like, how can we?
Yeah.
Before me, now the players get annoyed.
Like, oh, you're changing that for.
formation to this. Well, it's the same play.
We're just moving guys around.
So there's, you know, that learning.
But it helps when you need it.
Yeah, definitely.
Are you a sideline or boof guy?
I've been on the sideline as a position coach for, you know, for the last 14 years.
So I think that we'll work through that, you know, as we get through preseason,
what it's going to look like, obviously, going into the regular season.
But whatever, you know, whatever's best for us in offense.
That's what we'll do.
Okay.
And the coach, so say five years from now, you're still the OEC here.
I know that's not your plan because you're trying to get to the head coach.
I can see.
I see it.
But if you are, what would you want Stiller fans to say when they talked about your offense?
Yeah, number one, we're a tough physical offense.
You know, I think that certainly is what DNA of the city.
You know, we're going to be a physical, tough offense.
we want to play smart, fundamentally sound football.
I think taking care of the football and explosive, you know, big plays,
creating big plays.
I think that's how you score points.
You need big plays.
And when you win in fourth, you've got to be able to run the football.
And that physicality and toughness has to be there.
And hopefully, they'll see that in our play style.
Definitely.
I'm on.
I love and everything, Coach, no question.
No question.
Coach, we know you've got to get going, man.
We want to thank you for your time.
man really appreciate you spending a few minutes with us.
Hope you have a great season, man.
Go out there to kill, listen, I need y'all to come back
with another Super Bowl so I can talk real crazy.
Yes, you know what you got that.
That's a goal.
Appreciate, sir.
You got it.
All right.
Yes, sir, man.
You have a good thing, yes, sir.
Look here, the reason we're in here
in here is because, like, the weather outside is frightful.
Weather outside is frightful.
But I'm telling you.
I'm telling you, listen, because it looks crazy out there.
It's bad.
We had the air set up.
Oh, that's a new, man.
Okay.
Then you got Pat.
Then we got Pat.
Come on, man.
Sit on up in here, man.
We got, we got Mount Washington already.
Now we got fire moves coming through on this thing.
Come on, man.
We're inside because the weather outside is fun.
It's frightful.
Put my boys indoors.
We're watching some nice football.
I didn't like him.
Watching some nice football, man.
We had a beautiful.
You, man, like you saw the whole field down here.
Everything.
Everything was set up, man.
Do they mic you up?
I'm good.
Come on here.
Let's go, man.
Let's go.
My dog.
What's up, boy?
What's up, boy?
How are you doing today?
Great, man.
A little lightning, a little lightning alert?
A little lightning on.
Yes, sir.
Yes, sir.
Yes, sir.
Yes, sir.
Look here, brother.
Um.
How are you like offensive direction?
I love it, man.
It's fun to be a part of.
I think it's cool how he utilizes all of us to what we can do best.
Moving us around.
It's been really cool seeing him how to use me and Darnell in different situations.
And, I mean, having another year with A-Rod, man, it's great, man.
We're just playing fast.
It's cool to see guys who come back, Darnell and me, D.K., Jalen, Roman,
like another year with the Hall of Fame quarterback.
that like it's clicking and it feels great.
Yeah, and sit down on session, I guess, what was it, once a week or whatever it is,
actually with Aaron at his spot, and basically, you know, just to build that understanding,
I think that's more of those things as I was telling him, like you get that non-spoken,
you know, communication.
It's like, hey, you're seeing what I'm seeing.
When we're seeing at the crib, like here.
100%.
That's the coolest part is, I mean, as a guy who's been to leave, what, 20 plus years now,
Like on his off day, that's probably the last thing he wants to host people over his house.
But he hosts the whole offense over.
He gets his food.
We watch film with him.
He sees what we're thinking.
What he sees, what he looks at when he watches film.
So it's cool to see how you can change how you watch film for a Hall of Fame quarterback.
I mean, that's really cool.
Oh, that's dope.
You know what?
I was just thinking something.
With him being a Hall of Fame quarterback, I guess,
and you being in the league as long as you have,
is it anything that he has given you for,
or said to you and give you a nugget of knowledge
where it's like, oh my goodness,
if I had been doing that sooner,
I could have been doing better.
Maybe I left some yards on the field
if I didn't, if I had done this, you know, soon.
100%.
Just the angles of my routes,
like the coolest part of him is like,
in my mind growing up, like even early years,
like it's like, okay, I got to get from point A to point B.
But like, no, you want to create some route craft to
some vertical launch, some different angle points,
working angles on the defender
so you can make them think something
and go a different way.
So that's the coolest part
is just like understanding what he sees
if a defender's low hip
and I'm running a corner out
and he's low hip.
He can throw you back shoulder
you can throw over the top
just how to deal different leverages
where he can throw the ball
and you expect it.
I mean that's when you get on the same point
with that, you can't stop that.
That's unguardable.
100% I'm saying.
That's why they always say
good pass
is always going to be good dealers.
You know what I'm saying?
So loving it.
Being able to play with Aeroa for that long,
you're all getting that stuff, man.
That's good stuff, bro.
Good stuff.
So going into, what do you expect from you this season, brother?
Because I mean, last year, me and Dibo were always watching.
You weren't, like, I think you get some more time.
I said, what's going on?
Why are in the game?
Why didn't you?
What are you expecting this season for me, brother?
Because I know you are just, every time you're out there, you catch the ball.
You're going to get the ball.
You're going to get open, like being able to do that stuff.
So just for me, from me and Divo's perspective,
love everything you do with your personality,
the way you are in the locker room,
the way you play.
What are you expecting from yourself, though, just coming into this season?
I'm expecting a lot, man, from just myself as a leader of this team, you know, as a locker room guy on the field, there's so much that personally, like, whatever happened last year, that is what it is.
But, like, I'm using it as a growth opportunity to really, this whole offseason, I was like, you know, there may be some things out of my control.
But look at what I was doing my process and I changed some things up and really self-reflected.
And I'm expecting a lot of big things for me this year.
And I'm hoping this is the year that everything comes together.
Yeah.
I'm hoping this the year that everything come together, see,
because I told Brian,
because you, O.C., I need a Super Bowl.
So I could act real stupid.
Fats.
Because I'm going to promise you,
I'm going to make like I was in the game.
And I'm going to figure out how to get me a ring, too.
Hey, man.
The coolest is just seeing the photos of you guys celebrate,
like the Super Bowl is downtown.
Yeah.
Dude, like, just to experience something like that,
seeing the people hanging off the parking garages and stuff like that,
like, they're so cool.
Dude, crowd searching, you just jumping across.
to catch you.
It's great.
They tried to steal Troy, though.
I saw that.
Yeah, we had to go get him,
we had to go get him.
We're like, oh, man,
you can't take you that way.
What's y'all going, man?
They ain't the right thing.
How do you guys doing, man?
Like, Drew Allen.
True's good, man.
He's a good kid, man.
When he gets more comfortable,
being around the guys in the locker room,
it's cool to, like, kind of bringing him along,
hanging out with some of the vets,
just kind of see, you know,
what it's like to be a quarterback in the lead
because, you know,
like, if you have that relationship
with guys off the field,
even the fact.
Like they're gonna wanna pick your brain and relate to you off the field.
So it's been cool.
Drew's gonna be good.
I really liked the rookie RJ, the safety there at 28.
I've been going against him because we had a couple of safeties down and stuff like that,
but he has a lot of potential, man.
He does, he has good pad level.
He's hard to get, try and get surface air to get off and push off a little bit.
He's gonna be really good.
That's good.
So how was, we got Joey Porter Jr.
My man, hopefully we get him.
Yeah.
We got him paid.
You know what I'm saying?
Darnel.
We got a really good nucleus of guys on this team.
And I'm really excited for this year, for sure.
Me and Devo is super excited, too, because the talent, like you said, it doesn't.
There's talent everywhere.
Talent's all over the place.
There's talent everywhere.
A-Raw coming back knowing that this is going to be his playing, saying it.
So, hell yeah.
Happy for you guys.
Hey, how much of that, knowing that this is the last year that you're going to have for Hall of Fame quarterback?
How much of that is not?
motivating you guys to be like, yo, we got to do everything we can to make sure if we can
catch that lightning in the bottom and go get it.
I mean, that's probably one of our, it's not like we don't talk about it, but as an individual,
like we all kind of look around like me, D.K., Roe, like, all the guys were like, hey, like,
we got to be on top of our shit.
Like, we got to do what we got to do for him, for the team.
And, you know, we can't go out like we did last year.
And Aaron definitely doesn't want to do that idea.
So we got to get back to the playoffs and make some noise.
Come on, man.
Y'all heard him, move.
Y'all heard move.
He said, makes the noise.
I ain't going to lie to you.
Already, I mean, my standard ain't too high.
Worst case, I got 13 to 4.
That was worst case.
That was worst case.
That was worst case.
Week by week.
Week by week.
Week by week.
I ain't got to go week by.
They're going to run it up.
They should go week out.
That's what I know.
I know the answer for me as I can look at a team.
Yeah.
I can do that.
Yeah.
I mean, worst case scenario, AFC championship.
That's just where I'm at.
I'm just, I'm not trying to put any pressure.
No.
That's the goal.
That's the goal.
I'm letting you know where I'm at.
So if it don't happen, I want you to know, I'm going to talk ready.
It's going to be bad on the Instagram rules.
I'm going to be scrolling.
See, Diva.
Moose.
If he not, listen, right.
Behind every night spent making the kids lunches, there's a lot of suspense.
Will they finally eat the veg?
Will the Pesto survive the first bite?
Will the lunchbox come home empty, half full, or come home at all?
And will you finish episode 8 before you're done slicing the cucumbers?

Well, I thought he was going to write.
I thought you were all going to write a song.
I remember you thinking that.

The definition of what is a movie has kind of changed anywhere, too, right?
What do you think it is now?
It's images and words being spoken, captured.
by some sort of technology.
Danny McBride.
He loves Mawba.
Oh, that's fantastic.
And you make it on, you make your own.
That's great.
I call him Terro Reed.
It's a good name.
They're all named after cast members of American Pie.
Yeah.
Oh, gotcha.
I call, I don't, I never looked up if she was in this,
but I call him Leachie Sobieski.
Yeah.
I don't think she was an American Pie, but I still like that.
Haven't looked it up.
She was prominent around the same time.
Yeah.
Then Mary Steenbergin.
Why are you guys talking?
I'm worried.
I'm worried.
Why are you talking so down to me that you think I don't understand your little play game?
I just really, I get it.
I'm trying to set you up for success here.
Listen to Hollywood Handbook on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
On Solita, we share the messy stories of traveling alone as a woman.
Your duolingo is not going to come back to you when a man is inside of you.
Oh, no.
I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first.
I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity for possibility.
Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people, and they were like, you smiled at us.
Not a lot of people smile around here.
I can wait four hours for the next bus, or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle.
It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is
and not the lies you're sold about it.
So whether you're a solo travel veteran
or you're too nervous to book your first trip,
I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app,

Then we sit down for a real conversation.
I've shared a slice with everyone from Seth Rollins.
What are you doing my belt?
To Alex Rodriguez.
Just to let you people know, we're talking to one of the goats here.
To Bill Burr.
I don't think I've ever met somebody so exactly out of their mind as I am.
And now, we even have more great guests coming up,
including the great John Tutu.

My wife's down on the side.
And them trying to say, do I need to put in another safety
or do I need to put in another D-Lignment?
Because they can do one or both.
Dude, this is going to be so awesome to see.
That's great, man.
And it's great.
What do you just come to the line with an option?
I don't say nothing.
We don't know.
I'm giving them too much.
Don't say nothing.
That's awesome.
How you guys like being back at the trouble, man?
Hey, it's great when I ain't got to practice.
I'm not going to lie.
The being away from it feels a little like I miss the boys.
I'm just hanging out with you.
I miss that.
But playing like the lineup, I'm looking at y'all running into each other.
Honestly, I'm like that.
I used to do that.
We were crazy.
We were crazy.
Backson backers, we don't have that this year, thank God, man.
Why not?
You know?
Healthy packs.
He know we got it in them.
Man, I like that.
That was the thing I liked about it, man.
How has the practice fees, though, those?
You still get the ends, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, grab grass.
Tight ends?
Yeah, tight ends.
Yeah, tight ends. Outside linebackers?
Yeah.
One-on-ones?
One-on-ones?
Okay.
Yeah, we don't mean, we still do it all.
Just we don't do back.
I mean, I think they may be done it.
It's not the same backs and backers.
It ain't tight ends, outside linebackers.
It's like, I think they start out the line of scrimmage.
We'll explain the drill to him.
So the drill he's talking about is called,
we called it backs on back and it so it was a run drill.
And basically, it was more set up for advantage of these cats
because you lined up head up
and they would either cut you off, reach you, or drive block you.
And you ain't know what they was going to do
until they actually like did it.
So in that drill, I ain't going to lie.
I was damn good.
Because it's swole.
No, no.
It's a secret to it
The secret is they don't listen
I say back off
They want to get tight to these dudes
I'm like dude
Back off if you back off
You can see what he's doing
And then you can get to it
And use your muscle now to pushing
This pop your hips and driving
Everybody want to pull up tight
As soon as they pull up tight
I'm like you he's about to lose
Yes you know soon as he tight
When I would never drive block
I would never drive by hey I'm going
Inside Zone outside zone
I am running off the ball
I'm not letting them let I'm putting my outside arm
and I'm throwing it.
I'm not letting them get.
Because if they beat you inside,
if they went inside,
it's a loss of the defense because you have to set the-
You got to get outside.
You got you outside.
So I would just run off the ball and take off.
Yeah.
And I'm like, yo, do that.
Like when me and Heath used to do it,
like, dude, I'm like sitting back.
I'm like, I know what he's going to do.
I'm like, I can look and see.
And I would lean to the side of it.
Oh, he's leaning heavy.
He's about to try and drive-block me.
So like I'll give up, like, I'll open my foot up a little bit and be like, all right, I'm going to make it seem like I'm going outside.
Yeah.
I just go inside zone.
So it's, because they read your foot.
They read your foot you're doing.
So it's cool to see the intricacy of that, like, what I'm doing it.
And like that, when they started doing that, I just, I just, I watch the hips.
Because you could do this and go this way.
You can't do that.
You can't do that.
Hips don't lie with your hips.
Yeah.
Hips don't lie, babe.
Facts.
Yes, sir, man.
Look, here, Frye, man.
We want to thank you for coming on, man.
I know you got to get up out of here.
Appreciate your time.
Always.
Look here.
Keep your eye out for mood.
You know what time it is.
You know what time is.
He's going to be pancake.
Pancake in touchdown, baby.
Look, boy.
Appreciate you, baby.
All right, boys.
Now, as we were saying,
we had a great setup.
It was beautiful.
It was.
Background.
Everything.
Whole practice still sitting there.
Literally.
La Trove was looking.
It said Saint.
It says, Saint in the grass.
Saint.
Look beautiful.
Look beautiful.
Thunderstorm.
Hey, ain't nothing wrong with this, too.
It's Devo and Joe, though.
It's Devo and Joe, look here.
Anytime we don't hear it, it look good.
It's a beauty.
What you're looking at right now is beauty.
She just, you're just trying to.
Hey, man.
Beauty and the beast.
Beauty.
Tripping.
Let's get back to Cleveland.
This is what I was trying to say.
When you're coach, you come out,
I just don't want your brand unnecessary noise.
You know this is what he's doing.
Because it's like if you were going to go start him,
you have every right.
You're not just a fly-by-the-rail kind of guy.
I know that you knew that you were going to have go
to start Deshaun Watson before the practice started.
So when you did that, why?
Now you got me looking crazy in front of Debo.
It's like, they're going to Browns, doing that.
Why would your coach say that?
I'm not just, that would make sense.
I'm thinking there is a logical reason for this.
But no, no, this is what I'm saying.
If you are the head coach,
why don't, and you know what you're going to do, just say that.
That's my only thing.
Because I'm like, I understand, like when you said,
with the Miles Garrett, with the trades,
you got to keep stuff out of there because you don't want nothing to come out.
But practice is in 45 minutes.
You're going to literally sit there and tell everybody,
oh, he's starting.
And then 45 minutes later, when practice comes, he's not starting.
So I'm like, you could have saved yourself a bunch of just,
like, if you want to have Watson start, you're the head coach.
You can do whatever you want to do.
Say what you want to say.
But, like, if you say it, then I bet that's what we're going to go off of it.
You just blatantly lied to everybody.
For what, though?
That's the only part that I'm not getting.
If you want Deshawn Watson to be the starter and you think he's playing better, fine.
Because you're the head coach and you're thinking that you see that, whatever.
You got that right to do it.
But to keep, like, to lie, though?
For what?
You're going on that man.
Who you're scared of?
You want Deshawn to be a quarterback.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Maybe.
not all his decision.
Maybe it's
maybe it's coming from
somebody else, maybe it's from the gym, maybe it's from the man upstairs
because what Hazem did say it was an opportunity
that, you know, it was no, it was an opportunity
that he could be back next year.
He did not close that door.
He said it was, so how do you know
that he's not able to,
maybe pull the strings as he wants to pull him, maybe.
I'm just saying, I'm just, I just don't think,
I just don't think the man is going out there
just to blatantly, just lie.
I just, I don't, I'm hoping that's not it, you know what I'm saying?
But when you, when you start having the owner talking about,
he's leaving the door open, you start speculation of this and that,
and now he was supposed to,
Cedora was supposed to take all the ones,
and now all of a sudden,
it's Watson taking all the ones.
Maybe it done came from the top.
Maybe it did,
but Coach Scott her,
it just makes them look like
you don't have, don't say nothing then.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Don't say that you know who's going to be
to start a quarterback before you go out to practice
if you don't.
Do you know what I'm saying?
Like, it just makes,
it just makes drama in the media
for no reason.
Like, we understand we're having a quarterback battle.
But it makes,
it even more crazy when you say, oh, Shador
this is today his day to go start.
And then he gets no starting reps.
Why did you say that then, Coach?
Like, don't say anything.
Like, say today's, because it's opposite.
They've been switching them and getting different reps.
And then you say he's starting.
He doesn't start at all this day.
Deshawn starts, and he's splitting reps with Dylan Gabriel.
And Dylan Gabriel with the second team has more reps to him.
So I'm like, I'm sitting here.
Coach, it's your team.
If John Watson went and you think he's,
going better or whatever.
Let it be bad what it is.
But, well, he said it was some, um, some, some, some, um, some, um, some, um, some, um,
some, um, some, some, um, some, some, yeah, some things that he wanted to see, uh,
Watson do that, you know, couldn't have been done the next day or the next time they
switched, Joe.
You know that, you know that sounds crazy.
You know that sounds crazy, though.
I'm, Joe, I'm, I'm, I'm, you just flying by the, he's flying by the suit of his pants.
I feel like that.
Like, you're going to tell him 45 minutes before the practice that he's starting and he doesn't.
That's why it's just me with that.
Just don't lie.
If you can have to do what you want to do.
Maybe he was going to start in his head, maybe in his mind, but it was already told.
That's why it was an insider that said Mary Kaye said she might have heard it from somebody else.
She ain't heard from him.
She probably heard it from somebody maybe a little bit higher than him.
Maybe that was closer to somebody higher than him
But I'm saying, no, she talks
She talked to Deshaan Wantsa
Which said that he heard
That he was going to be starting
Before practice started
So then when he go out there and say
Who he heard it from?
The coach.
Oh, you heard it from the coach?
You're starting.
You're starting to practice.
And then Mary Kate Cowitz talks to Deshawn before.
It's like, no, I heard 45 minutes before practice
that I was going to be the starter.
And then you go to the media thing
and tell everybody, oh yeah,
Shador's going to be started.
Sean already knows he started.
Like, don't just say that then.
Please, just don't say anything.
Don't.
See, Deshawn's probably starting.
I have some formations that I want him to be playing about.
I'm like, legit, say it.
Don't say.
Oh, yeah, today's Shradora's day.
He started, and he doesn't start.
Like, I don't care if he's not playing well.
If Deshawn's playing better, it's just my, why are you making drama when it doesn't need to be none?
Like, brother, just said Ash would start today, and everybody would still be cool because they're switching days.
I am trying my best.
going on. You're trying to figure out why. Because that's what I was trying to do. I don't,
I'm out of the way. I want everybody like, I'm trying to give Todd Monk in the benefit of the doubt
because he came in at the rip. It's a quarterback competition. Da-da-da-da-da. Chodor's going to be
getting his reps. Deshaun's going to get his reps. But when you come out and say today is
Shador's day and Deshaun already knew it was his day and he gets out there and gets all the
reps, that looks crazy to me. As much as I'm trying to. You're trying to say something
against what I'm saying. I'm trying to
I'm trying. I see why you
stutter when you ain't got nothing.
I don't have nothing. Yeah, you just
don't have nothing. You got to agree. I got to disagree
then when I stuttered because you're right. You're right.
You're right. You catch me something like,
you're right. You're right.
They causing a whole bunch
of confusion where it needs to be none.
Like you said, that's something that could have been cleared up right there
before A, uh,
Cedore was supposed to start, but I need to see
you know, I'm going to need to see, you know, Watson do this, that, and the third.
But I'm just telling you, that's just another example of the Browns Browning, man.
They can't get out of their own way.
That's the only thing.
That's what I, when things like this happen, that's what you can say to me.
It's been like that forever.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
This one right here is just a little, it's all.
Since they came back.
Who's been the owner of the Brown since they came back?
Mr. Haslam.
Well, Mr. Hasn bought it in probably 6. 14, something like that.
14, 13.
14, 13.
How many courts like you all that had since then?
A lot.
Listen, man.
Y'all got a very supportive base that ain't going nowhere.
The fan base is not going nowhere.
I just want.
I think that's what it's about, man.
We got a lot of.
The thing is, defense, we're still getting players,
offensive lines good,
we're getting some squad,
we're getting some players.
So the quarterback is the main,
obviously, but we got Shador,
we still have him at the,
at the rookie contract,
we still got Deshawn there.
I just,
I'm going to lie, Joe,
I don't understand the concept of putting,
of putting Watson in there
unless, like Hasam said,
he has a potential of actually saying,
you know what,
I'm going to find this way after the next year
if you play well,
which means you no longer have,
a competition, and you don't get to see what Shadour could do.
And if you don't do that and then you don't sign him,
you actually burn up a year that you could have saw what Shador did,
which leads him closer to actually being a year closer to another contract.
We're doing, this is the thing, too.
We're acting like once the season starts,
if the Sean Watson started, we're going to be able to,
I thought we're going to be able to see both quarterbacks anyway.
So I, yeah, we'll still see.
We're going to see who ends up being the quarterback by after the second preseason game.
Once they finally announced a starter, obviously.
You got to announce your starter.
The second preseason game.
Got to be.
Because ain't nobody go playing a third.
The starter's not going to play in a third.
Because it's only three.
And this is my thing.
If coach didn't just say that Shador was going to be, I don't, I'm not trying to just bully coach.
You got to start Shadoor.
If there's a really legit competition and coach thinks like,
They're kind of the same.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, I don't know.
Like, Deschior Chador hasn't played good enough to literally take the spot from the show.
If you're going to let him play, then it's not like I'm trying to bully Chador to play,
but I just want coach to just, obviously, try to win, make the best quarterback play that you think is the best.
And just don't, don't lie.
The lion, the lion got.
It's all right, Joe.
They got me, D, Bo.
It's okay, Joe.
