This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor?
It signals to the world that you're not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.
Listen and learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
On the Look Back at it podcast.
From 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 is big to me.
I'm Sam Jay.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild.
I mean, it was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Welcome back to this episode of
Debo and Joe. I'm your host
James Debo Harrison and I'm
here with my co-host, Joe
Taylor. Sir, yes, sir.
Make sure you like, subscribe, and download
where you get the show. How
you doing today? I'm doing
great, brother, Debo. Doing
lovely. Great day to
me. Yes, sir. I ain't going to even lie to you,
bro. I didn't even
think I would see you today.
I like, because I, like, I didn't see you Tuesday, but, hey, it is what it is.
You know what I'm saying?
We here now.
We go do what we go do, bro.
I was going down memory lane, bro.
And this hat right here, bro, it's my daddy's.
I have, right?
Okay.
My daddy's hat is from the first Super Bowl.
We won, man.
Dude, this the ring.
And, brough, like, you want to know why I wore this joke.
What's up, man?
Because the Lakers and the, and.
and your cavaliers down 02.
And who did it?
Detroit!
Look where I won this at.
Detroit.
I thought she was getting the most.
I thought you was getting the most.
Oh, yeah, you thought wrong, you thought wrong.
It's the D for me.
Hey, that's why I thought you weren't going to show up.
I knew you was like, yo, I can't show up now.
I was like, okay.
I'm like, damn, they just got bopped again by double digits.
And she goes.
All late.
All they did, all they did, they protect their home court.
They protect the home court.
They want two at their crib.
Now we got to go protect ours.
We got to go protect our house.
No, they're about to sweep me.
You sound crazy.
You sound crazy out your mind.
Ain't no sweeps.
Ain't no brooms.
They did what they had to do.
They protected home.
They protected their home.
Oh, that's what they did.
They did what they had to do.
They protect their home court.
And guess what we're going to do?
We're going to have to do what we got to do.
Caves situation is completely different, though, than the Lakers situation.
I will let you know that as fast.
What's the difference?
The difference is the Lakers are outnumbered in so many different ways.
Oklahoma City Thunder, Shea Gilder's Alexander, hasn't even been being Shay Gilder's Alexander, and we still lost.
Well, Hart didn't been doing over there with the calves.
Okay, so the calves at the same time, they protected their home.
We got to close out in the pool.
I don't want to, what is hard him to do?
He's been turning it over a little bit too much, just a little bit.
But it's still, they protected their home field.
When we go home, when we go to our.
So some turnover is okay, just not too much.
Yes.
Because he has the ball in his hands all the time.
If you had a bowling hands all the time, you're going to have a turnover or two.
Four or five, I.
What was they, what was they three?
How many, how many threes they shoot?
How many did they make?
What was that?
I don't even know.
I don't know.
I heard something crazy.
Maybe like three of something.
We got to do a better job finishing these games.
I'm not lying.
I'm understanding.
I'm letting you know.
It's not looking as positive as I thought, but we still got a chance.
They still got to come in the Cleveland and get them dubs.
So Mitchell, Hardin, Jared Allen, Mobley, you know what I'm saying?
My Goodman, everybody.
let's go. When they come over there, let's do what we got to do.
The Lakers, okay. It's a different situation.
We just need, I just need them to get one.
Just get one, don't get swept, but OKC is a different animal.
I told you, I told you, okay, as long as they get one.
As long as they get one, it's cool.
Long as they don't get sweat.
Definitely. They can't get sweat.
Somehow we're going to have to get one, somehow, some way.
I'm talking about, please.
No, no, we're not going to get swept. Cleveland's still going to win it.
I still like Cleveland to win it.
We're not out.
We're down 02.
They got to come to our spot.
We're going to win our two games.
It's going to be two-two going back to Detroit.
Am I hearing something?
Maybe I started smoking dope or something.
Like, I'm, did you just say they're going to come back and win it?
I'm getting old.
That's what it is.
It's still, no.
Cleveland, we still got our shot.
Harding ain't been doing what he got to do.
Exactly just with a little bit of turnover.
And he don't do what he got to do in the playoffs.
And he don't do it.
He is.
He's going to do in the playoffs.
He said so.
I mean, what are...
All right, let's get it. They are.
I'm just saying, brother.
I'm just saying, look here, man.
Reports say that Aaron Rogers is heading back to Pittsburgh.
Now, it's also a recent report that said,
ain't nobody saying this man or heard nothing about him being in Pittsburgh.
Oh, you know they're tracking flights.
Bro, you think Aaron flying regular?
He's flying private.
Bro, you got 400 million.
that you done made, plus all this other stuff.
He ain't ready.
We got PJ trackers, too.
Dude.
What you think?
Listen.
Yes.
Me?
Listen, I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.
You know, Joe, Joe, I go, you know, I go a little bit of here, a little bit of day.
You're everywhere.
You're all over the place.
I just, I just, you know, like the other day, I'm like, yo, I don't want to talk about this no more.
But they keep bringing it up, Bibo.
I'm going to tell them like this, bro.
I said this all the way.
back, what was it, like March, end of March, something like that.
I'm like, yeah, the Steelers don't understand.
Aaron is not going to give them a decision until they give him a number.
Because he's not trying to come back and play for the same thing that he played for.
They gave a number.
Hey, and I said, hey, Aaron, when he was on a Pat McAfee show, he said himself,
they ain't gave me no offer yet.
So it's nothing for me to decide on what I'm going to do yet to even make a decision.
Okay.
all right and most people think like a without Aaron I'm one of those people we don't even get
the 500 we damn sure don't make the playoffs so that's 12 million dollar contract he and I'll
play that like that's that's that's way for this and he's like yo you want me back I'm gonna need
to be compensated especially when you got what is it near tier quarterbacks making 20 to 30 million
dollars a day. Hey, so what does still do? They say, all right, cool. They made him an offer
by putting an unrestricted free agent syndrome. 20% increase.
They said, come back. You go get 15 million. You can come back, you know, after training
camp starts. And even before training camp starts, you can still go out there and pursue other
offers because who wants a 43-year-old quarterback right now? Yes, yes, yes. Okay. It's, it's
It's not like he's going to have a whole bunch of office there.
Okay.
But if you don't sign before training camp start, hey, we're the only option you got.
So you can sign with us and get that money that we go give you,
or you can sit out, which he can't do, or you can retire,
because this is more than likely going to be his last year playing football.
So it's going to come down to how bad does he really want to pay.
So the report of him coming back,
I believe is because he's like, yo, I'm not playing for $15 million.
So let me go over there and see if we can possibly sit down and work something out.
You know what I'm saying?
You know, let's sit down, talk about this and see, you know, where we go?
Where can we get?
What are y'all willing to give me and what is Aaron, you know, maybe willing to accept?
But we don't know what that is.
So it's another thing, though, that has me like, maybe he's like, you know what?
Let me get in here because ain't nobody knocking my door now.
Let me jump over here and get in this thing first and go ahead and try and get a deal done
before they get a chance to see if Will Howard and Drew Aller or both of them.
look like something.
Start tearing it.
Right.
Start tearing it up in camp and OTAs.
And I believe that that happens, Aaron loses some of the leverage.
Okay.
And you take what happened with Mike McCarthy, what they said, you know, towards the end with him and Aaron, that reportedly the relationship was strained, you know, towards the end of that.
Like, yo, maybe he's going to see, hey, is it, how, how strange was it?
What is it?
Da, da, da.
And now you got the talk of Aaron.
He's coming back.
You know, the Steelers believe that he's coming or that he's going to go and sit down.
But that number is not going to be $15 million.
So he's going to sit down to try and get a deal done to secure basically his last year, you know, playing football.
If that's, you know, what he wants to do.
And I believe that's what he wants to do.
I believe he wants to play this year.
And, you know, see, if he could go ahead in this last year and possibly, you know,
catch lightning in a bottle.
You know what I'm saying?
So maybe it's another part of me that's thinking like, okay, so maybe he's like,
hey, I come down there, I get in, and now I can go and be the guy that's actually, you know,
helping with these dudes, you know, I believe he wants to, you know, get in there or have the
opportunity to get in there and, you know, work with Will and Drew and show, you know,
and show them the process of, you know, how things could go, you know, and be able to say,
you know, hey, I got, I got another one under my belt.
He already had Will.
Now he could have Drew, especially when you look at what Kurt Warner said just a few days ago.
oh about drew outler he said quote he is the he said he said he is the most gifted
thrower in this class in this entire class and even ahead of mandosa simpson and he said i know a lot
of people have ranked uh higher have mendoza simpson ranked higher than them but he said he's
naturally, he's a naturally gifted thrower.
Okay.
Warner also said that his arm talent, he said,
the talent jumps off the screen when you watch this guy throw.

I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS.
on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year
for black people. Really? Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people
in American history.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross.
Because you find it important to be a good person
while you hear on earth.
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

He said, it's effective.
No, he said it's effortless.
Sorry, it's effortless for him to push the ball down the field.
One of the questions always with a big armed quarterback was if he can control the big arm
and be able to consistently, to be consistent with his accuracy, okay?
So right now he said if he also said, well, if he could do that, basically, that he'd be the still of the draft and because he would be the best quarterback in the draft, boom, basically.
Now, that's Kurt Warner.
I like Kerr Warner as a Hall of Famer.
He's a two-time MVP.
He's killing the rock.
Like I said, maybe this is the opportunity where Aaron is like,
yo, let me check this out and see.
Maybe I could get in there and help develop another young quarterback.
And now I got two guys talking about, yo, when, you know,
my rookie year or my first two years, Aaron really helped me out, you know,
and did this and that.
Like I said, I'm a little bit of everywhere.
I'm all over the place, too.
I'm all over the place, Dibo.
All over the place.
The reason why I'm all over the place is because you're telling me,
if we, you're hot, you're on fire, you good.
I'm on fire, go ahead.
I'm all over the place, D'Bow.
And the reason why is because if we were to get Aaron Rogers back,
I'm never saying I want Will Howard or Drew Ailer to get in there before Aaron Rogers.
Aaron Rogers is one of the best spinners of the ball that I've ever seen.
I love him as a quarterback.
And like you said, if he's on our team, he's starting.
None of these other dudes, like you said, Will or Drew, all the potential, all that stuff,
they have nothing on A-Rod.
So if A-Rod was in the facility, if A-Rod comes back in the building, soon as he steps in there,
you are the starting quarterback instantly.
And when I say other things about Drew, I want to give Drew a shot, it's never if A-Rod's on the team.
if A-Raw's on the team, he got the keys.
You know what I'm saying?
So that's why I want to state that off by when everybody's saying,
oh, Joe, Will, da-da-da, you always pushing Will.
I'm saying that because A-Raw is 43.
He doesn't, he's not on the squad.
He could not sign.
We're saying there reports that he's on the plane coming in town.
Nobody's seeing him.
You know what I'm saying?
So it's still, until A-Rod signs on the damn contract,
he is not the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, in my opinion,
because there's been all these timelines,
there's been all these dates.
He's supposed to sign now.
He's supposed to sign before care.
He's supposed to sign before here.
He did not sign.
Everybody's expecting, everybody's waiting.
So I'm like this.
Until Arod signs,
he's not the quarterback of the team.
But when he does, he's the starter.
Facts.
So let me get that out the way.
We have May 18th, Debo, is when OTA started.
And if we want, if Drew Aller and Will Howard,
we're going to start being able to get them reps.
Like the first weeks, you know, it's just meetings.
The first two weeks, meetings, you can't do nothing.
You can't even go on the field.
Then the next three weeks is nine weeks.
The next three weeks, on field workouts, you know what I'm saying?
I think we get a little extra time because we got a new coach.
You do.
You get a little more extra time.
That's even better.
So we probably get like 11 weeks.
So all I'm saying is if A-Rod is not there, this is where we do get the time to see how good they are.
I'm hearing you now, A-Rod, if you want to come in there and, like, we've been building the team to be successful with whoever the quarterback is.
So I'm saying if you are in there and now you have more weapons, we have a better offensive line.
We did get some people on defense.
So you're saying the same thing.
I'm like, A-Raw, if this is going to be it last year, you see what the team has got.
Please come.
Please sign.
So now we know what we got.
You're getting those reps.
These younger dudes can learn.
and now we can get the best of the best of what we have for this team.
It is going to be what it is.
So we might be get to the playoffs, win a game, even if it's, I don't know if that Super Bowl,
hopefully it can be.
If we have a good enough defense, a good enough running game, a good enough special teams,
Arod is the best version of itself.
Pitman balls out.
You know what I'm saying?
Our new running back, Rico Donald balls out.
Everybody just plays to the best of their ability.
Our defense.
T.J., Highsmith, Ramsey.
Porter, all of these names, ball out.
We got a lot of all pros on offense.
We got a lot of all pros on defense.
Our linemen, you know what I'm saying?
Our running game is special.
If all this happens and A-Ride is there, it's amazing.
So I want our team to be able to start building towards something.
So A-Rod signing, yes.
But if he doesn't get here, I'm just looking at it like, that's going to be the opportunity
where OTAs comes.
Dudes can really get that time.
Like Will Howard, Drew, we can see what they can do.
we can see like getting,
getting what the team's going to look like.
So I'm never knocking A-Roy.
I want him to be on the team,
but it's like he can do,
he's going to do whatever he wants to do.
I'm waiting for the timeline.
I'm waiting for him to sign.
Because when he signs,
now I know what we got.
When he doesn't,
I'm leaning towards our team's still going to be good,
no matter who is under center.
My thing is this.
He, in my opinion, is not signing.
Jack for 15
they're going to have to up
I just do not see it happening
is it's
you think this is what I'm saying
Debo with that I don't think other teams
nobody else is not
it don't matter about other teams
I think he's willing to just be like
would he rather retire
than 10 million
I think he'd rather retire than take 15 million
if that's the case then
I'd rather think that
why not sign it now
and get it off the way
that's what I'm saying.
If that's the case,
maybe because he doesn't want to,
just because he doesn't have to,
he knows it's on the board,
he doesn't want to go to OTAs, maybe.
You know what I'm saying?
Just being a, okay,
but the Steelers aren't saying anything.
Like, oh, he ain't able for sure.
Yeah, I'm coming.
I'm going to be there at the training camp.
Don't you worry about nothing.
Like, what are you?
My thing is this, if he's not signed,
before we get done.
Before you get, that's what I'm saying.
Yes.
And training, and training.
And right before, like,
Training camp starts a lot.
I don't think they go sign him unless they don't like what they see in Will Howard and Aller.
But that's what I.
Why would I slow down their progress to bring you in and halt it when I know, especially if I feel like I, if Mike McCarthy feels like I have the guys that I need here right now and one of these dudes can be the guy that I need.
I just need to develop him.
Why would I halt his development by stopping it and bringing somebody in?
You got to learn by fire.
You got to be put into the fire.
You can't sit back there and just watch.
You got to be put into the fire.
I'm saying the same thing that you're saying.
But that's when we had to put our mind note in A-Rod.
A-Rod don't give a damn about the Steelers, for real.
He's really on his time.
So that's why I'm looking at it where you're saying.
If A-Rod signs instantly get in there, work with your receivers, get it done.
We got May 18th.
OTAs are starting to come.
OTA is going to be here.
If you're not going to be there, then we got to move on.
You know what I'm saying?
He says, I'll chill.
I'll wait until July 28th.
If the contract is still there, he signs July 28th right before training camp.
He can still, I'm still putting A-Rod in over those dudes because you got A-Roll.
Not if I'm seeing what Kurt Werner was talking about.
And he can control that big arm.
And he could place that ball.
Why would I stop that?
I'd be a damn fool.
I feel you.
I feel you.
I'm with you, Debo.
I didn't, Aaron Rogers is holding the team hostage in a way there where I'm respecting him at the very
beginning where I'm saying all of those accolades and respecting him as a whole thing.
I understand that.
We also got a guy in Mike McCarthy as a head coach.
That's a quarterback supposed to be guru of developing quarterbacks.
That's what I'm with you.
I'm saying that all the A-Rod got the team still.
If they can pull, pull, they put up the unrestricted.
If he wants more money, Dibo, I'm saying there's no way he's going to play for the Steelers then.
For sure.
They're going to give him that $15 million, and that's what it is.
And if you think you're going to go play for somebody else, you're going to have to go sign that contract.
Go find you a better deal.
You don't, you don't think he can squeeze another three or five out of him?
No, no, no.
No.
No, no, it's 15 or you got to go.
Because the same way with like, when you're getting old,
Patrick Peterson, my good man, they gave him no, he had to go sign forward.
They were talking about practice squad.
Like, there's a point where as soon as you get out, it was like, no,
you went from $10 million a year to practice squad.
I went from the same thing, $10 million a year.
I couldn't find a deal.
They're like, no, how about five?
They're like this, no, Peace Squad or you're not going to be able to sign here.
Like, your time is done.
So I'm feeling like, A-Rod, love him to death.
You're going to be first by the Hall of Fame, but there's no, that middle tier where Duel
are making $60 million, they don't care.
I'm giving you $15 million to come play quarterback.
I don't think of what everybody else is making.
That's not you.
You're going to get this 15.
You know what I'm saying?
Come get it, come take it or not.
Because if you don't, we got Will, we got Drew, and we can put that 15 to other talent.
We can come help out some more.
That's not just $0.
That's $15 million.
You can go get some really good players that look at 15, like, okay, yes.
sign me today, I'll take that 15.
I'll take four of that.
You can go get three good dues, you know what I'm saying,
at 4 million apiece.
And we don't need that money.
I know, but I'm just saying when you talk about $15 million,
if, if, uh, if, if Aaron come, we already got one too many.
I feel you, but I'm just saying that 15 million,
you got two other quarterbacks.
If you think those are the dues and they end up showing you, like you said,
like Kurt Warner, then they might pull a joint.
Can you pull it?
can't pull it, but I'm just saying.
Maybe because...
If they're looking good, Debo,
and he still comes back and signs the contract.
They're looking good.
I'm pulling the offer off the table.
If he...
They're looking like that?
If he ain't signed it,
yeah, you can pull it, I think, dude.
That's, I'm saying.
Let's...
Goodness.
Yeah, we're going to check that out and find that out.
The door is open.
I'm just, dude, I'm just...
We need.
We need...
Every time we get on here, we got to talk about this, right?
I know, because the key.
keeps on happening and he's supposed to be catching.
I'm like, you know how we feel?
Listen, bro.
Your boy, Darry Slate, he had,
he had some comments about
the Stiller defensive schemes.
He said, I ain't go lie to you.
That Pittsburgh stuff.
That ish backwards over there.
That ain't Tyrell Austin's-ish.
T.A. ain't,
T.A. ain't teach that.
Tee ain't teach none of that issue in F in Detroit.
We played outside leverage every F in play.
That's why when you see Jalen Ramsey ever got scored on,
he's chasing someone that's running away from outside leverage.
Slay added that the Steelers were coached to play outside leverage
because the defensive line was expected to bat to bat balls down if passes win inside.
I don't do
if the
this is what these
he said this is what these coaches
were telling me
you play all side leverage
and if they catch the ball inside
it's on the D line
because they're so good
at batting the ball down
I'm not banking on that
and that's the only thing
I did not like about the stillest
bro this can't be real
it is it
huh
I ain't never
heard that we counting on the D-line
the back to ball down. I ain't never heard that. No, man.
I mean, no. I talk
to Slay, and I'm saying
when I... What is it? I said about the outside
leverage, because we play corner, and I'm like,
Slay, did they tell you to play outside
leverage on everything? Like, was it no
alignment splits? He said,
that was only in the red zone. In the rare
zone, you had to play outside leverage on everything.
So, I'm going to put that out there. You did play splits
the stuff, but it was in the red zone. Everything
in the red zone, you play outside leverage.
So that is one thing that he did say.
With the batting.
Why would I do that?
That's crazy.
But we're batting the ball down.
I can see how when you're saying rush.
Dude, that's not on the deline.
That's not on the de line at all.
No, that doesn't make any sense.
I'm saying that, yes, that part didn't make any sense.
But rush and coverage does work together.
When we're saying that if you got to catch and tackle,
some things like that, but I completely,
I'm telling you, you don't have to cover.
nothing inside, play outside leverage,
and the D-line's supposed to back everything down.
That is goofy.
That is not.
That is, that is, that is, that is, that is, that is, that is, that is, that is, that is, that is, that is, that is, that is not, he didn't, he didn't say that.
He said that they had to play outside leverage only in, on, on, in, uh, the red zone.
I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't give you that either.
It's too much inside.
Just go line.
I understand.
You still, it's still 40, it's still 52 yards on outside, uh, uh, uh, uh, it's still, uh, uh,
still 52 yards wide.
So you're telling me I'm playing outside leverage
and let everything else go in.
That's crazy.
Yes.
Thank you.
That's crazy.
When I played outside leverage as a corner to,
that means not everything.
Were you ever taught to just play outside in the red zone?
Well, you didn't play under them, did you?
You play, who did you, did you play under?
Under T.A.
Yeah, I did.
He was my, he was my quarterback coach,
but then the next year he went to a defensive coordinator.
So I played with him as my DB coach.
And where were you taught as a DB?
I mean, it wasn't always, it was more, it was more alignment.
It was leverage.
If the receiver was lined up outside of the numbers, it was more you, you're inside.
You know what I'm saying?
So who was your, um, oh, you had, um.
And he had GA too.
Dude, let's stop playing, bro.
Nobody did, no, nobody did a job that was actually titled to him.
That was ran by somebody else.
Everybody got a title and got paid for it,
but very few people did the actual job of the title.
We're going to move on from that, man.
The Steelers, blocked from the London game.
Jaguars are reportedly protected in their matchup against the Steelers
because they know it's guaranteed to be a sellout
because of how well, Stiller fans travel and gobble up seats
in opposing stadiums.
Of course.
they know what we do
we go be there
we take over we take over stadiums Joe
we meaning to me
in the chat
not you
you
stay over there
with all that Cleveland stuff
you've been talking about
the basketball team
you already know it's right you already know what it is
rocking with the land
but anytime the Steelers are not against
the Browns
always
hey
But that ain't the real reason.
You know what the real reason is, Joe?
Don't nobody want to go all the way over there, man,
and play no game, bro.
You just.
Don't nobody.

I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to?
Do a little kill.
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.

To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS.

Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year

You think the Steelers don't want to go to the Lunding game?
I went last year.
That's fun.
Right.
You went to Ireland.
That's a great time.
Did you play over there when you played?
Did you play overseas when you played?
Okay.
You didn't play overseas when you played.
Okay.
Well.
I look for the players.
That wouldn't have been.
You know you get taxed there and in the States.
I see you.
Taxes.
Players have to play taxes over there.
Like, they got the similar taxes that we got over here.
Like, they got a jock tax over there, too.
And you end up playing taxes over there and the United States.
So you play in the country that you played in and here.
I know.
I play the NFL.
Europe. I did NFL
Europe, dude. Like, real talk.
I was over there in Dusseldorf, Germany, bro.
Like,
no way.
So, it's, like, dude.
It's not because of the taxes. It's because you're getting tax.
The turnaround is crazy, bro. You're talking about you flying
all the way over there. What is it?
8, 10, 12, more hours. Depends on where
you're going. And then you've got to turn back
around. And then they're talking about
what is it now? It ain't even a short week.
no more. They're trying to get a cut to where a short week means if you get four days,
it ain't a short, or five days, it ain't a short week no more. So they're trying to get you on
like two, two games where they can hit you on a Monday and the Thursday or I'm sorry,
a Sunday and a Thursday and that being, that ain't a short week. Yeah. Huh? Stop playing.
Bro, when I played over there, bro, and of course, we were over there like the whole time.
So the longer you're over there, the more you get taxed. That's why all these teams that go,
they try and be over there as little time as they can
because the amount of days that you are over there
you get taxed each day.
So cash they go over there and they're like,
they're there for a week or they stay there for two weeks
and because they got to play a back-to-back,
man, they're getting cracked over the head over there.
And here.
Dude, I was getting about, real talk,
about 40% of my check back then, bro.
Dang, okay.
Yeah, bro.
I was making,
I was making like $450,500.
a week doing NFL Europe, dude, because they were hitting you so hard with taxes, dude.
And that was for, like, eight or ten weeks, bro.
Like, I don't know how the dudes that had families.
I don't even know how they were over there for, like, two months, bruh, two and a half months,
taking care of their family and all that.
And everybody got paid the same thing, except for the quarterbacks.
The quarterbacks might have got like $300 or $500 more a week.
but that was it.
Like you walking, like they walking away with maybe $7, $800,
everybody else, $4,500.
Thank.
Okay.
Question though.
If you was, when you're doing it for the league and you went over there,
are you still getting,
how much are they taxing you from the NFL checks
when we go play over there?
Because I didn't go play.
I did a whole NFL Europe season.
So I don't know what they tax them.
And it's different in different countries, too.
however they do it.
And then some of them will get your tax credit back
so you don't get double tax through, however that works.
I was thinking about mostly for me, I mean,
I was saying, is it just the tax purposes?
Or I wouldn't really like, when I went out there.
I don't want to fly over there and then have to turn back around.
It was for the, I went out there last year as a fan,
watching the game, got to the scene.
And I was saying if I was going to actually go play,
it's a completely different time.
Think about being in the season.
And like, everybody else is on vacation.
when they come visit you, they're ready to have to, hey, what you got going?
I'm like this.
I am locked in right now.
Because I really, like, I got a, I got to go 12 hours.
Now they go straight to practice.
No, no, no, for sure, for sure.
When I went, it was more fan-wise.
I would think just traveling during season, prep, being able to get to the stadium the night
before, boom, sleep.
You got your routine.
Knocking out of routine during the season is a reason why that would be the biggest thing
why I'm not tripping on going over there for the, I'll go doing my.
my off season where I can go travel and actually go enjoy it, go see the stuff.
When you're going out there to go playing a game, if you're going to go see stuff,
you're out there for the wrong reasons.
We got a game to play.
Like, everybody should be locked in, curfew, chilling, because end of the day, it's only
during the season.
This is one week.
You can go see that seriously.
After we win the Super Bowl, we don't make it.
We're losing the playoffs.
You got an off season.
You got those good little month, like when the season's still going on.
You could travel, still get your work in, but your time where you can.
you really actually enjoy yourself.
So it's like a business trip for me,
like when you go out to that stuff.
So my biggest reason why I wouldn't want to go is like,
I'm not tripping because I got a job to do,
but for games and for tickets and for business,
oh yeah, for sure.
They want to stealers.
You'll sell anything out.
You're traveling crazy out there because they want to see you.
Bro, you're talking, you lose in six hours.
For sure.
Player-wise, schedule-wise,
you're really just trying to stay as routine as possible.
You talk about not a routine.
I'm not doing that, bro.
Yeah, I'm not, I'm not trying to do that.
Hell, I don't even like going to always west,
and they keep the time.
As long as they don't take us out early.
Clock don't change.
When I was with Cincinnati, dude, we went out there early.
I'm like, why in the hell are we going out here a whole day and a half,
two days early, bro, for what?
We gained three hours.
We go out there during last minute.
Let's get the schedule, keep the time what it is.
We just changed it.
in my mindset, every clock I see
should be like we're still in the East Coast.
Bro, right.
And then we get there, bro, and they want a curfew.
You go try, you go curf me on a Wednesday and the Thursday,
bro.
I don't have, what did you talk about?
No, don't bring me out here, bro.
No, no, I could have stayed out.
Don't bring me out here, man.
All you do is upset, man.
Facts, facts.
So your boy, what's his name?
defensive lineman,
Malik Collins.
He said, man, he said, listen,
I've seen the type of player
Deshaun watching this.
He said, I've seen how dynamic he is
in the past.
He said, I think he has a lot to prove.
I think Shador is super talented.
I think he also has a lot to prove going forward.
I think they,
I think they said it was going to be
Open competition, so may the best man win.
So he was talking about the two quarterbacks, y'all two quarterbacks battling it out for the thing because you had some, somebody that wrote a article saying that Deshaun had the edge.
And he's like, nah, Deshaun ain't got the edge.
It's open competition.
They both got what they got.
And then you got some cat, the Browns, that is some writer that believes Todd Monaster.
has already made a big mistake by not naming a starting quarterback.
I'll listen to there doesn't need to be there does need to be a quarterback competition resulting in a young.
There doesn't need to be a quarterback competition resulting in a young starting skill player position practicing with the quarterback who isn't going to start.
Anyway, he thinks this should be a quarterback there practicing with the guys who should go start.
Who the f- Who is this dude, dude?
Not listen to him.
Listen, Debo, you know how it is.
Everybody wanted to rush to be thing.
Bro, I don't even, type this article.
Why did y'all even put this in?
Who is this, man?
So, long story short, and I'm going to go off Malik Collins.
Malik Collins is making sense.
It is going to be a quarterback competition.
and I believe that Shador Sanders is probably going to win the competition.
When they're saying early on right now he was getting more reps, it is what it is.
That's what happens in the competition.
They still haven't been to OTAs yet.
He's going to have to split the reps.
And by the time we get the training camp, Tom Monkin said that he's going to have a started quarterback that he's going to name.
Right now, Debo, you know how it is.
When you don't have a quarterback, everybody's going to bring up every single situation.
And then we're going to come on here and talk about it every single day.
and literally feel like we're being repetitive
and what we're talking about
because people just,
everybody got something to say
about the quarterback position.
Everybody got something to say.
But when I listen to Todd Monkin,
and he's telling me,
end of the day,
it is going to be a quarterback competition,
Deshawn Watson and Shador Sanders.
I believe both of them
are going to be able to get their chances
in OTAs to show how good they really are,
and I think Shador is going to still be able to continue the ball.
He did not play unbelievable last year.
He has footwork.
things he can work on. He has timing things he can work on. He has awareness things in the pocket
that he can work on. So there's so much growth. But I like to think that now when you have a
quarterback coach, you have a head coach that are also trying to help you out. They're giving you.
You're getting an equal opportunity. You're getting first team reps. You may be splitting them with
Deshawn, but back in the day last year, you didn't see the first team. You didn't see anybody.
They didn't give you a chance at all. So at least right now, Deshawn coming in, healthy.
making $46 million a year, was a franchise quarterback.
I've seen him that's coming off two ACLs,
and he still didn't perform too well back in the day.
But when you're making $46 million,
you're going to get the benefit of the doubt.
You're going to get an opportunity because that 46 gives you just due.
And you've been doing your job.
You've been rehabbing.
You've been staying out the way.
You haven't been making any mess.
You haven't been trying to do any noise.
You've been trying to play football and do the best you can do.
So for him, Deshawn, I hope the best.
and for the reasons I state, the 46, that you stand out the way, and now you're healthy,
you get an opportunity, obviously.
Shador, you coming off of last year, starting basically half of the season, knowing that you need progression steps,
being able to get aware in the pocket, not retreating.
There's things that you can get better at, too.
You're off now.
You have a line that can block for you.
We're going to have a situated running game.
Our receivers are getting better.
We got, we drafted two.
We drafted what we need.
We draft the receivers.
We draft the protection.
Boom. Now both of you guys are going to be able to see what you can do during OTAs and training camp.
See who plays better and let's get to it.
I still look at your door as a first round pick quarterback.
Other people look at him like a fifth round pick.
I look at him like he should have been picking the first.
They didn't like him because of his personality.
He rubbed people the wrong way.
But statistically on the football field, what he did at Colorado, what Campbell did in Miami, was not too different from me.
So I'm like, give him a chance, give him a shot, out there with real legitimate weapons.
I want to see it.
And if he's not, I was wrong.
I take that on the chin.
But I want to see Chador be able to be out there with weapons and a legitimate team and
a legitimate coach coming off a whole season and reps.
Boom.
That's all I ask.
So I'm going with Malik.
I'm going with this an open competition.
I'm going with Deshaun Watson.
You deserve that because what you've done before previously in the NFL, that is what it is.
That's what got you that guaranteed contract.
That's why you still have one more year here.
You're not going to sign, the Browns are going to sign you next year.
So it's either going to be you.
This year we're going to find out.
I think two quarterbacks are going to play.
If Shador ends up starting, I don't think Shador is going to lose that job.
I think he might go the whole way.
If the Sean Watson gets the job and plays amazing, that would be great.
But I don't see that happening just because from my previous experience,
it's just him coming off the injuries.
And it was speed.
He was able to run.
He was able to move.
It wasn't just his arm talent, which made him Deshawn Watson.
He was fast.
He was explosive.
He was dynamic.
He can throw and run.
He was a dual threat.
He started slowing down a little bit and then coming off of two surgeries.
Let me see how explosive you really are.
You know what I'm saying?
Not knocking them, but once you lose that step, the league is fast.
These dudes are not playing.
Nobody's getting any slower.
Dudes are only getting faster.
The league's only getting younger.
So we're going to see what happens.
I'm here with the league like.
So let's go.
Okay.
Yeah, for sure, for so.
This person, this so-called beat writer,
this so-called beat writer is a fucking comedian.
Don't put this stupid-ass shit in the dock no more.
Thank you.

Don't.

Please, thank you.

Let's go, brown.
Cocksucker time.
I got to speak my piece on my Browns.
I just keep my piece on my Browns.

Yes, you did, sir.
