So when we're saying he's not to reset the market, I don't think at the same time, Devin Spoon is better than when Denzel Ward.

in a past completion rate of 57.2 for nephew and 79 for him. It looks like he beat him in every category. They don't show you what my – look, I respect that too. But Gonzalez, they don't count his pick and how he was bawling in the playoffs. Do you remember – I understand. I understand what you're saying. It is what you see. Like I said, but we're talking pure numbers.

Joe, after you get round that especially for D.Bs, you know, going to signing up a new deal at 30, 31. Densel war. Because you got to pay that.

That's why he got the two-year extension. He got it. to you because you got to do it. You got to perform at a high level every season now once you start getting older. And I think here is where we're getting things misconstrued.

with the numbers because I think a big part of this is that J.C. Horn and the deal he signed last, what was the last year? No, it had to be, it was it last year? It was March of 2025. Okay, he signed a four years for a year ago. No, let me take that back. That was 18 months ago. Yes.

and it's a balk on that or if we can't get to there that's it diabolically crazy when I'm looking at Adibo when I'm looking at these deals and I'm looking at Devin Witherspoon and I'm looking at Christian

Gonzalez when we talk about like you say numbers and stats I'm with that too so I'm with the agent is right you can't representing Joey Porter Jr. on the highest level of what how much money he should get and these are the dudes that drafted in the same draft class so they so Devin Witherspoon and Christian Gonzalez were first round picks so they were still under contract like we said for an additional two seasons. Joey Porter Jr., he only has one year left so when he gives these dudes their extensions, Christian Gonzalez was under contract for two more years at $20 million.

Devin Wetherspoon was under contract for two more years. Next season was five and then with his fifth year option was like 22. So he's under contract for two for 26. So when they give them their extensions, now they had them under contract for six years. Now six years

add their additional money around $155 million. So they got them for six years, $155, $158 million, and 101 guaranteed. With Joey Porter Jr., our extension now is if we give him a four-year, say $30 million a year, that's $120 million. We have him now under contract for five years for $124. And that would be averaging out about, what, $5,000, $125 million a year. I think that it's with the new money, the still has got to look at it like, end of the day, this is the market.

He's playing against with these other guys. It's just the new money. they're not trying to, if they can't get to that 30 mark, I think right now, dude, and that's the thing. That's the crazy part about it, dude. You and I both know that man wasn't even in the 30 neighborhood, bro. Oh, no, no, not even close to it. Like, what are we talking about?

And if I'm him and I'm sitting back looking at this and I know what it is, and I'm seeing this, it's no way that I'm going to sit there and be like, Like, I'm almost begging for what it was I was asking for. Mm-hmm. Versus what it is I know I can get. Yep. If this ain't what you really want, man, why don't just trade me or something? But this is the thing, too, Debo, like we said, the same way that the Patriots was talking about,

they were so far away from Christian Gonzalez. Their numbers were so far. Like, they didn't nobody, we didn't know what was going to happen. Their game is on Wednesday. It can take to the 19 to the 20 to the last hour to be able to get the deal done. So that's what I'm hoping and praying that happens with the Steelers. But like we said, I think they're going to keep to their ways. Dude, if that's the case, if that's the case, we know the Steelers' way.

I know the Steelers' way. The Steelers negotiate from a very low end and they work their way up to it over a course of months. This man ain't get an offer until a week ago. And you telling me that all of a sudden we're going to change how we've operated. It's just going to spark. I'm hoping it does. I'm hoping it does. It's because it's,

because I'm telling you right now, the guy that just got this deal done for Christian, for Gonzales? Yes. Who is Asian? Who's Joey's Asian? I think Joey's with athletes first. And I think,

and I think Gonzalez. In sports group. I think Gonzalez and Witherspoon had the same agent. Both of them would win sports group. Gonzalez and Willispoon, I think, had the same agent. I'm looking at right now. It's Gonzalez and Joey are both with win sports according to that. Oh, okay.

So you think he's sitting there going to tell his boy, you think he ain't had or heard, conversation or whatever it may be ear hustling somebody that you're struggling over there, listen. I know he can go get it. I know he can go get at least,

at least a 30 ball. That's right now. You're telling me he's not top five. Cool. He ain't top five. Is he six? But at the same time, if he's six, if he is six, Dibault, like you said,

With Witherspoon, with Gonzalez, with his agent and with these numbers, he could still be able to set the market. Once you in that category. That's what I'm saying. What you in there? Debo, I'm with you. I'm saying, worst case scenario, it's a 30 ball. It's in there. I am with you.

I am with you. That's just what it is. That's just how the market goes. You don't have to be. If you up there with the best, they like Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, we got Pickens. When you in there, like, everybody can say, no, you have a reason to say he's the best or, no, I got a couple of dudes that are better than him.

But if you throw out that name, nobody's going to disrespect you by it. No, man, get him out of here. No, he's in the room. You know what I'm saying? So I may not put him at the top because there's certain little things that I like qualities as a corner

that you can just do it all. So I think if he gets his little, but still six, that's not crazy. And that's still in there to be able to reset the market for another team. You know what I'm saying? For another team. Right.

If you were free, all teams, oh, they give Joey 34. But maybe with the skill is just like this, look, we got the situation going on. We love you here. We want to pay you for your stuff. But you're being comfortable here. This is what I said. $30 million a year, $30 million a year isn't punishment. That's what I'm saying.

It's not. If you were to get to $30 million dollars, that's what you're telling me right now, if they had ever got to $30 that we still be having this conversation, stop playing, bro. You and I broke, no, that's a false. I know. I feel you. I feel you. I know.

I know. I'm just saying it's not not resetting 30 something not 20, not 25 because it's not what it was when J.C. Horn signed. Right now it's dudes in my class, I see them. They signed for $30 million. And that was only a year ago to them. And the numbers are the numbers. And the numbers are the numbers, the time that it took to get to where we're at now, which is 18 months, a 35% Johnson. It is. It is. At the same time, that's why when we say like, and D.B.'s, cornerback, the highest paid cornerback is making 33.7, right? The highest paid defensive end is making $50 million a year. So that's $16 million difference between the best defensive end and the best cornerback.

So once you start from there, so that's when we look at, you can't be, or different people, Well, you can't, like with Herbic having $25 million a year, that's half of the highest paid defensive end. The highest paid corner is 33. So half of that is around $16.5 million a year. So it's nowhere near with 25 for Joey Porter, 26. It's not like it's the same type of money. It's not like, no, we're paying you more than, like, you're getting paid D.N.

It's like, no, D.Ns are making 50. The highest paid corners are making 33. So it's still perspective of 27 as the highest paid corner. That's way higher. That would be like Nick Herbick making $42, you know what I'm saying, a million dollars a year, in perspective of when you look at the highest paid to different positions, that's how when you kind of got to look at that. Yeah, I don't, I'm not, bro, I am not.

I'm not very optimistic on this one right now. Yeah, we got what? Tuesday, Wednesday, when is it, Thursday, Friday? We got three, four days. We got until, what we got was, yeah, three, four days. We got three, four days, bro. We got three, four days to find out what's going to go down. I could see him now, going to walk through, walking out the walk through,

like the way he's like, like, to it did it. Like, they saw, they said, Potomalu signed day before the game. Not saying it's the same exact player, but it's just contracts getting done at the last hour? I hope so, man. I hope so. But I am not very positive about this. I didn't really know what was going on, but I see that he done it, this is what he does. He did it in Green Bay. He did it in Dallas. So this is just how he rose. You know what I'm saying? Like that he just doesn't do captains

from the beginning of the season. And, I mean, to each his own. It's not something that I was used to. Normally, I know, like, you go through training camps, And then right before the season, you get the captain's name, and they just said the dudes are normally represent. But to each of your own, I don't think there's no right or wrong way doing it. But I just see Mike McCarthy was on some, just prove it.

And like, ball out, I in the sky, I don't lie. Accountability, I would see him being able to just rotate. If you're hooping, then, okay, boom, you're going to be able to represent the team this week. It's just fluent. You know what I'm saying? If you're not balling, like, I can just be able to hold everybody accountable, is captain or not. You could do it if their captain still be able to hold them accountable.

but I feel like as a coach when you come in there and like, no, this is the way it is, I'm going, I can set the captains each week. He got the power to do whatever you want. What did y'all do in Cleveland when you were there? We voted captains. So you voted or the coach picked? I think that sometimes the coach picked, sometimes we was able to vote. We just kind of switched it up.

Oh, yeah, y'all had a bunch of different head coach. We had a bunch of different coaches, man. Seven different ways to skin a cat. How did you feel about? when the coach picked it versus when the players picked. I was. Because he will be picking captains even from here, but it will be for the year. Here, here's my, here's my thing.

Go ahead, what you're taking? The reason I don't like it is because now I am picking who it is. I feel are the leaders on this team by how they practice on that field. that's cool. I understand that. That's a good thing. But some guys, even though they may have,

everybody on the field should go hard. That's, that's a prerequisite. That's a given. For sure. Now, what you've got to realize is who they go follow. Who is going to lead them?

Who is the guy that has the whole locker room, not the guy that you want to have the locker room because you have his ear and he's going to put out what it is that you want pushed to the rest of the team. You speak in facts, Debo. So when it comes down to that and you get in situations like that, and actually you have it where the team is voting.

I get a certain, I get a scenario like that. So now you have it to where the team is voting, okay? The team is voting and you go and you do the vote, right? So you do the vote and everybody writes their vote down and they turn it in, right? It counted out and you get your captains. Yep. Now, somebody gets voted a captain, and you're like, what? What's the first thing you do?

You go to your home boys. Y'all go to each other. How did they get captain? Who voted? Who voted for this person? Who voted for that person? So now, y'all are doing a personal count. Okay?

And I know I have been part of it. There's been other people that have been part of voting that you're like... Take your votes? Don't matter what your vote's talking about. It don't matter what your vote said. it don't matter what we tallied as a team. That person got picked because that was actually the coach's pick,

not the players pick. We had that situation. We've had situations like that, other players, other team, all that stuff. You had situations like that. So now that's why I don't like the coach picking it purely because I'm going to follow. He don't got the ear.

leader. Yeah. Like, and you don't necessarily have to have that C on your chest either. It's some dudes that you go follow and they ain't going to say a word, they're going to lead by example. Yeah. But when they talk, everybody listening. Everybody listening.

Yeah. That's why I, like I said, that's the only reason I don't like it, because now it seems more unnatural. Yes. of me picking a captain. Like, you're picking your cat, no. That's why I like, when you're on the team,

is picked by your players. And that's why when I always, when the vote is starting, and everybody was doing a little, you know, send a thing in, I'm like, we were in high school,

we were like, yo, if you all want to vote for captain, they put the name on the board. From there, you walk up to the board, you strike who you want. Now everybody is playing,

it's open. Now all this, others, I don't understand the process. Yeah. Debo, I think this is, I really like that perspective of it too because end of the day, captains for your team, if you really want to do it the right way, is like you said, you're going to vote. Because leaders, when you in the locker room, when you see dudes, it don't have to be somebody that's talking a rah-rah dude, somebody that the coach feels like is the best player.

Because they're the best player. You want to have a, it's obviously great to have your best players. You know what I'm saying? He's the captain. But if they're not a dude that, like, once, like, this is, sometimes the best player doesn't want to be followed. You know what I'm saying? He just does football. This is what he does. There's other dudes that just, you lead by example, you see him. You see the way he works. You see the way he moves. And you're just going to vote for him just because he's a pro.

I follow this dude because he practiced what he preaches and he leads by example. He's not with the bullshit. So I want this to lead our team. And people would just, boom, captain, yep, I like him right there. He wouldn't even know it sometimes. with your team. votes for them when your team literally is like this because you can't tell another grown man who is his captain who is he going to follow that's like okay bet majority normally when you get it like that majority of the people are voting for the same people you know what I'm saying they like everybody sees the same damn thing we're like yeah that's the dude that we're believing in you know what I'm saying like listen you got it is what it is captains that are literally what you said they're captains now listen you got dudes that may be the mouthpiece ain't a captain He's going to break us down.

That could you can call him. He's the rah-rah guy. He's the rah-rah guy. He's got to get the guy. That's fine. I would hate it when you have somebody to coach be like, hey, so-and-so, break it down. I'm like, man, why they got this dude?

He doesn't have no juice. He about to piss us off. Right. What's going, man? He's about to kill the whole move. He about to say some old goofy, soft, Pillsbury doughboy shit. And we're going to be out here depressed

and about to get our face. case kicked in. Mm-hmm. Coming out the tunnel, like, what the... Did he just say? Why would... What that even mean, bro? We have a conversation talking about.

What was that weak-ass pep talk about? What was he talking about? Fly with the birds and... What? Fly like the butter and the stink? I'm like... What? Come on, man.

It's only, we got him traded him from, got him from Jacksonville. So that's good to see. Because I feel like if coach, I don't know how our captains were appointed. I don't know if we voted for them, or I don't know if coach appointed them. So do you know?

Y'all did the same thing we did. Your coach appointed them. Okay. All right. You can appoint them. Okay. These was appointed. Okay.

Now, how do you feel about it? I still feel the same way, you know. How do you think the fans feel about it? Oh, the fans are hot. The fans are probably hot. You know, the fans are going to be fans. They just don't, you know what I'm saying? They're going to feel some type of way.

But this is why in the locker room, I don't know. I think Deshawn, he hasn't done nothing or said nothing in interviews about his team, about the way he feels about him in the quarterback competition with Shador. So in the locker room, I don't see friction. It's only like from the outside of, you know, just the way people feel about Deshawn Watson. So him rehabbing, him trying to get back right

and him working on itself to get back out there inside of the locker room from the Browns team looking at him, I can see how they're like, okay, boom, he hasn't done anything besides try to get better and try to lead by example. So in the locker, I can see that. From the outside looking in, it's definitely the Browns fans are not a big fan of Deshawn. They would definitely see like this is not a good feeling.

But from coach, coach is like, look, this is our starting quarterback. This is who we've named our quarterback of the team in the locker room. He has done nothing to detour, be him and Shador. Great relationship. Every time he's had those media things, he's handled, he's been trying to be media trained as possible. The preseason thing he did when he spas out, he said, like, Like, I was in my emotions. I was in my feelings.

That was the only thing he's done since he's been trying to recover from his ACA, from his Achilles joints. So from the coaching's perspective, I could see how they did it from outside looking in. Obviously, you know, how to brown, you know, it mean we, you know, a little hot at Deshaun right now. Yeah. I mean, I'm saying, like, you know, I mean, I could see why, you know, maybe the fans would be upset, you know.

But, you know, we just, I mean, the still is we. That's what I'm talking about. We don't have problems like this. So I don't know exactly what that is like how that feels, that process of that whole. Listen, we kind of are the same right now as far as the captain situation because Mike McCarthy is he didn't, he doesn't have named any captains yet. So he's going to just be naming captains every single week. He's doing the same thing. That's what I'm saying.

now, we've been doing it for a while. It takes a couple of them to hit. So now we're hitting, we're still young.
