back to this episode of Debo and Joe.
I'm your host James Debo Harrison,
and I'm here with my co-host, Joe Hayden.
Please make sure you like, subscribe,
and download where you get your show.
How you doing today, Joe?
Brother Debo, I'm doing great, my man.
Another great day to be here, you know what I'm saying?
Chop it up.
I saw some real actual football.
So, yeah, it's a good day.
It's a good day.
Might not have been the best in my predictions,
but, yeah, it was a good day.
Heavenly, look here, man, the people have been asking this, man, for the, for the hit, you know, for my son.
Yes.
So, we went on here and we got a little something together, you know, so that they could see it.
Actually, let me, let me get that first clip, man.
Here, here, here, it's a little grainy now.
It's a little grainy.
Okay, all right, they got the highest attack.
You understand?
Yes, sir.
Yeah, sir.
Now, you're seeing that at fast speed, you know what I'm saying?
So it looked like, yeah.
Full speed.
Full speed.
Five.
You don't know.
You don't know.
You didn't launch?
Yeah, you know, a helmet pop off.
The helmet pop off.
You know, they're looking for something, you know what I'm saying?
But what you got to do, man, is you got to slow that thing down.
Go ahead and slow that thing down.
Man, get head across, shoulder down around his chest.
And the helmet just, it just goes and it hits.
And it pops on.
On the side.
He's on the side.
It pops off, Joe.
That's Debo.
That's what happens.
I saw a couple of hits like that during the week.
When you hit someone in their chest that hard and their head just, it caves down.
His head is not in the way.
It's not helmet.
If it would have been helmet in the helmet, his head would have straight back.
When you get hit in the chest, your head has to go forward because you're not hitting you in the head.
You're hitting you in the chest.
And that force is making you snap forward.
So it looks, it looks brutal because it's just the whip, the whip of it.
But it's not direct contact.
Because if it was, you would see him go straight back.
It wouldn't be able to go forward.
Yes, sir.
sir, look here, man.
Oh, the kid that ended up getting hit, he actually commented in the post, and he put a
picture up.
So if you go to the post that we were talking about, his name is actually Jack Kinneth.
Okay.
Jack Kinneth, he is the quarterback at Hill School over there.
He's the starting quarterback and baseball player.
He had two-sport commit to Maine University.
Okay.
Oh, sure.
Yes, sir.
Good luck the rest of the season, Jack, man.
One thousand percent.
Make God continue to bless you.
You know, he commented all that.
He did everything.
So if you want to see it, he actually put a picture of him up there too.
So when the helmet popped off, it kind of skint him up a little bit.
So if y'all want to see it, you got a little.
It skid him up a little bit.
But he said in the country, he's like, hey, that's football.
You know what I'm saying?
Shout out.
Shout out.
Shout out.
I think his name is, uh,
is Jack underscore Kneff.
And it's K-E-N-N-E.
Is that F-F?
F-F.
Yes, sir.
Shout out Jack Keneff.
The underscore is actually after the Keneff.
So it's Jack Keneff underscore.
So y'all want to shout him out, see what he doing over there.
Two-sport commit to Maine University, man.
Good luck, brother.
Also, Joe.
Yes, sir.
We got to let the people.
No, man, we go be giving away two sets of two tickets to the Steelers Home Opener after the show.
You and I personally will be picking them.
Okay, brother.
So make sure you like, subscribe to Debo and Joe.
You follow Joe and you follow myself for a chance to win these tickets.
And we will be picking you through probably any.
Instagram or one of the other three, or the one of the other two, one of the three, you will be
notified by Saturday if you have one tickets to go to the Steelers Home Opener.
So you better let us know, you want them, especially if you're in that chat.
You better throw up what it is that you'll, everything that you want, you can get right here,
babe.
Okay.
Yes, sir.
Put it up in there.
Not everything, but you can just.
Not everything.
You know what I'm saying?
You get.
Joe, you get some tickets.
We're doing that.
That's a hard thing to do, right?
You're doing that.
Season opener.
Tickets.
That's what we got for you.
Season opener.
They don't understand that, man.
Come on.
Season opener.
It's time.
It's football time, D'Bow.
All this ball is all this ball we've been talking about.
Hey, matter of fact, speaking of his football time, the 49ers defeated the Rams 27 to 7.
The greatest team in the history.
The spirit of the world of your universe of the Milky Way galaxy, got dog walk last night, beat like a redhead stepchild.
Your guy Stafford, what do you do?
155 yards of pass rating of 62.1?
Purdy?
While Purdy over there, he said, hey, let me show you how it's done.
That boy went 25 of 34 for 205, 105.5.6 quarterback rating.
and won the time of possessing on that defense.
The Rams defense, the greatest team ever,
gave up 175-4-yard rushing,
almost six yards of carry.
And your other boy, Miles Garrett, MVP,
man, that man didn't even get a sack.
He made me look bad, makes you look bad and everything else.
Matter of fact, Puka had more tackles than him.
And Joe, what's going on?
Some more happened.
Some more happen.
What about, you know, read on about everything.
You know what I'm saying?
The situation of travel.
Hold on.
Let me look.
Also was involved.
It's what is what it's going.
Read.
Come on.
Jump down, man.
Hey, damn it.
I see it.
Put the, put the, put the tweet up from, from Peter, Strader.
Read the tweet.
Read the tweet.
Read the tweet.
The Rams are on.
In four.
The Rams are all in for a night.
It's nine.
145 being in Melbourne.
They slept on a flight overnight and will sleep in the hotel for one night.
They'll wake up and play a game in 12 hours.
Oh, my goodness, in 12 hours.
This isn't some trial and error approach.
They sent 15 staffers over the last two years and track their bodies and sleep rhythms.
This was deemed the approach.
No turning back now.
15 staffers.
Brough.
15.
Don't over, don't,
this is what we're not going to do.
We're not going to overreact,
act like the world is falling.
Like we,
the Rams,
they flew in the day before,
24 hours,
you 16 hours on the flight,
your body's swollen,
your legs are swollen.
I was thinking,
you know,
when you do this sometimes,
if you were flying like,
like, plays,
And we were flying from Cleveland to play California.
That's a five-hour flight.
You could do that maybe the day before,
keep the same time schedule.
When you're 16-hour flight,
nine-hour time difference,
you're playing 1030 in the morning,
that's different than what they did.
So at the same time, no matter what,
San Fran, they went out there,
they were acclimated.
At the first half, they were still not playing as well.
So it was what it was.
I'm not, this is what happened to.
Matthew Stafford did not play well.
Matthew Stafford did not play well at all.
Miles Garrett did not play well at all.
You know what I'm saying?
So I can't sit and say on paper, when you have your offensive MVP,
he's never scored less than 10 points at an 82 starts in his career.
So that was not the Matthew Staff that I'm used to seeing.
Miles Garrett, he didn't have, not only did not have a sack.
He didn't have a tackle.
And then, Debo, this goes to show me too now when we're looking back at him missing all
at training camp, the knee being a little swole.
Like, what is it really?
Like, it might be a little, like a lingering injury.
Because after the game, you heard what he said?
He was like, yeah, I got to get back to myself.
That was the worst version of myself.
I'm hoping he's just saying that because he had no effect.
He was looking like he was kind of tired.
It was body like he wasn't, he hasn't been in it.
He didn't play no training camp.
He didn't do no preseason.
And then he's just getting out there trying to play.
So he got to get itself back right, got to get itself back together.
Flight didn't help.
The injury that he's saying.
man, like, I got to get myself back together, didn't help.
So Rams did not look good.
15, hold on.
Hold on.
It's 15 staffers.
That's one game.
It's the first game of the season.
The defense, getting, the defense, but that's the other thing, too.
The defense, they got to do, they got to do better.
Coverage, running, they was running all through them.
Joe, I ain't going to lie to you, but.
I'm looking at this thing right now, and they're talking about it's 15 staffers over two years
that y'all track their bodies and sleep
and this is what y'all can't listen
y'all need to be shot with a shit gun
okay for this this is plum dumb
okay rams like how much money
did y'all waste over two years during this study
like yeah that was what the who did they hold up
hold up hold up hold up they actually sent over actual players now
okay all right so is kevin kovind
Kevin Dotson, whoever that is,
Kyron Williams,
Xavier Smith.
He played for the Steelers.
He was, he played for the Steelers.
He was the line.
And, and Tyler Davis.
I don't know who they are,
because I'm not,
I'm not familiar with their names.
And I guess they,
uh-huh.
They worked out and did sprint some weightlifting,
uh,
looked like they actually did some football drills.
Joe,
I'm gonna keep 100 with you right now.
I can sleep.
or not sleep for about four or five days straight and only sleep two or three hours a night
and get up and kill the gym.
I mean kill the gym.
Uh-huh.
Well, maybe when I was back playing.
Now, it was probably like two or three days.
Back at a half.
I'm lucky if I get two, to be honest with you.
And I'm out there thing feeling like King Kong.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm feeling good.
But you're talking about a game.
You didn't put them through a game.
You put them through a workout.
That don't even make sense.
So you was 16 hours on a flight.
Grown men, 16 hours on a flight.
Then went to the hotel and slept.
Don't nobody even sleep good on the plane.
I know I don't sleep good on the plane.
No, for sure.
Even if they're trying to give you them lay flats,
that's just still small.
And let's do, unless you went and had beds for every person,
which ain't no plane that got a bed for every person.
Like, that's not happening.
That's not happening.
A lay down ain't it?
A bed is it, okay?
I don't, it's no way, I take it back.
I don't know too many guys that would have been cool with this,
but you would have went and did it because you had no choice.
Well, you had no choice.
I'm in my head already, Joe, like, this can kick rocks.
You too.
Yeah.
When I first was thinking about Adibo,
have you ever traveled like the day before
if you were just going from east coast to West Coast?
Yeah.
where you didn't want to go to try to adapt.
You're good.
It's just Cali time.
It's three hours different.
That's fine.
But like I didn't, I was trying to think about the same.
That's 16 hour flight.
The amount of not being on that five hour flight of just swelling.
When you're on a flight, your feet.
And even if you got them compression joints on, everything, like, you're swollen when you get off a flight.
Like, when you try to put your shoes back on, it's tough to put them on a five-hour flight.
Made it three times that.
So just the, just your body, like getting back acclimated.
So I could see now looking back at it how completely you should get,
if you're going to Australia, you should go there and try to,
and 16 hours, you should adapt.
There's time that you're being able to get out there,
being able to, there's time that you can be able to adapt.
I think that's the smarter point.
Second point is, though, too, it was just.

Okay, well control is a harsh word.
I would say that's a harsh word.
I am more outspoken.
Growing up a lot of the times because she was so quiet.
I would speak for like the both of us.
Now I'm working on like thinking a moment, reeling it in,
thinking before I speak.
And Joey King.
You know if your like mom is yelling at your sibling
and even if you're annoyed with your sibling,
you just like won't let that slide.
It's like only you can yell at your siblings.
I'm like, you can't do that here.
That is, you do not talk about her like that.
Only I talk about her like that.
Plus, we've been taking your calls,
listening to your voicemails and giving you advice.
Or at least trying to.

Yeah, it's reading.
It's called reading.
So we don't like to use that word anymore.
Okay.
A panel of New Yorker cartoonists.
Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class?
No!
I've been dying too.
I'm so sorry.
I'm seeing a reading of Sadako and the Thousand-Paper Cranes by Audra McDonald's

That's crazy.
I went to the Wonderland Bookstore yesterday,

School is a different world than the one we grew up in. I'm Dr. Joy, and this is therapy for black
girls. We spend real time on it in our surviving middle school run, bringing in a child
psychologist and a psychiatrist who's raising two black girls of his own to talk about what's
really going on with our kids right now.
So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological and psychological chaos happening
all the same time.
We got into group chats and gaming, friendships and bullying, and how to tell the difference
between healthy monitoring and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust.
There's belonging.
You could think of belonging as I can be myself and I can still be accepted.
And then there's fitting in.
Spitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection.
Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers, sitting down with therapists
Keir Gaines on Black fatherhood and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage.
You don't have on shorts, so you can't do flips, you have on the dressy, up across your legs.
That's the range of this run, from screen time to identity to the fathers doing the work at home.
We have to get off her device.
But the reality is there's a lot of life out there that we don't want you as your adults in their life to miss out on.
This has been our surviving middle school run.
Brought to you by the people who spend their career.
thinking about exactly this.
I'm Dr. Joy.
Listen to Therapy for Black Girls
on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcast.
I mean, I don't want to say
it was just bad ball.
Dude, you got to understand this,
man, bad ball.
I don't even,
I'm thinking,
this right here,
bad ball,
what you expect?
You got them on a 16-hour flight.
You forgot to add in dehydration.
People that ain't go sleep well on the plane,
can't sleep well on a plane.
You're talking about grown men.
that playing the NFL at the highest level of football,
the best athletes in the world at doing it.
And you think just because you had a couple players go over there
and work out that this is going to pan out,
hell no.
Joe, the dehydration on the plane is the biggest issue.
Like, your performance just from a 1% dehydration
is drastically different.
Your ability to perform,
you perform mentally and physically.
like your processing is slower.
Everything is slower.
Stop playing, man.
What is y'all doing?
No, for sure.
And that's why I'm not going to give this as much,
as much as a, as much like, okay,
obviously it's one game.
We don't want to, obviously we were crowning them at the beginning
because of who they had.
Because Matthew Stafford, because of Pukum and Nicole,
because of Devonte Adams, they average 30 points to game.
You know what I'm saying?
So you're expecting when you see these players and then the defense comes in,
Miles Garrett.
no show, basically.
27 snaps, one pressure, no tackles, no sacks.
You know what I'm saying?
Aaron Donald, he didn't even, he didn't even play.
My man, that's why he didn't play.
He heard they was going over there.
He was, man, we're going out there same day.
I'm not about to go out there.
Oh, no, you're doing what?
No, you're not about to have me coming out there
and look like I ain't had nothing left in the tank.
I came back on, no.
They gave up the 99, the 99-yard drive.
Brock Purdy went from the one
and marched that thing all the way down.
on the field.
Like, and in the offense, they went two for nine for third down.
Joe, Joe, this is, this is, this is, this is, I thought I had something too.
I thought we had.
No.
Yeah.
It's going to, we got, they definitely have to play better, but this is more to, 49ers.
Nobody never said the 49ers weren't going to be good.
It's always been health with the 49ers.
Can they stay healthy?
Are they going to be able to make it?
Are, are the players, is Christian McCaffrey going to be good?
is Trent Williams going to be able to stay healthy?
Is Joey Bosa going to be able to stay healthy?
Fred Warner came back looking like that's how a linebacker is supposed to look.
And a three down.
He's attacking.
He's punching the ball, creating turnovers, running full speed everywhere, controlling the defense.
So with the 49ers, they got talent all over the board.
The new defensive coordinator.
They was out there, Rahim, bawling, calling the plays right.
So the thing with the 49ers is skill.
talent never been the problem.
It's always been about health.
George Kittle, coming back nine months from the injury.
He's back out there looking smooth.
So it's just about if these dudes are going to be able to stay healthy, that's their problem.
But the game, they look good.
Defense balled out.
Bro.
I understand they look good.
I understand that.
But me getting this information knowledge.
You're just saying they went against a half team.
They went against a real team.
Come on, bro.
That's what you say.
We ain't in high school no more.
you can't hop off a bus, you know, three hours and go to work.
What are you talking about, man?
You're up there talking about, hey, man, let me get these.
It's not even off a bus, though.
You know, performance cars, this 87 octane.
And then let's drive them over there, basically.
And then put them on a track.
That's what you're doing when you got these boys just sitting here for 16 hours,
going to the hotel and then waking up and playing 12 hours later.
Yeah.
Matter of fact, don't even tune it up.
Don't even give it no maintenance.
Don't even take care of it.
That's what y'all did.
So what you telling me is you giving the Rams a full good pass.
I got to.
That was not even, that's not even game one.
They're game one for real.
We're going to tell from moving forward from this point forward.
Because everybody gets, you know what I'm saying.
You just can't overreact.
Oh, no, no, no.
Okay, that was a bad game.
Matthew Stafford played bad.
He was still sleep.
That's what a man, Dibo's saying.
You know, I'm with you.
He was.
walking, sleepwalking.
Sleep walking.
16 hour flight.
I don't even know what,
my knees,
his swollen, ankle swollen.
Do not jump on the ram's neck
just yet, just yet.
Just yet.
I was on their neck.
I was on their neck.
Listen,
I'll listen.
So come out.
I would go let them know
all that talk that went on
at the beginning of the year
before the season started
about how they was already crowned champions.
Uh-uh.
My friend said,
we wanted the 31 other teams.
But I guess I can't say that right now.
No, not yet.
Not yet.
But yes, because the 16 hours,
they was in the flight, it was in the air.
Let them get a little by.
But the 49ers, I ain't going to lie.
They look good.
They played a really good game.
Defense, everything.
They just got to stay healthy.
49ers.
Now, listen.
Hey, Ram, don't y'all never do that again in life.
in the history of the world.
It's a big difference between going and working out
and going and playing a game.
It's a big difference.
I can go out there and work out.
Joe, how many times you don't came in
at that, you know, oh, man,
it ain't even no need to sleep.
Let me go to practice and kill practice.
Oh, for sure.
Because it's not...
You wouldn't even think of it.
You wouldn't even think of a game.
No, no, no, no, no.
The game is the show.
Everything is for the show.
I just handicapped these boys in the show.
I took away my mechanics on my F1 car.
I say, hey, they don't even need it.
Hey, matter of fact, don't even tune that engine up.
We got it.
You believe in your own height.
We that good?
Hell no, you're not.
Look here.
Matter of fact, on Wednesday, Seattle,
they went out there and they defeated the Patriots 13 to 10.
Now, Drake May shine like a diamond for the Seattle Seahawks, man.
That boy went 23 or 33 for 178 yard, one touchdown and three in a Ceptsons while wearing a Patriot's jersey.
No, let me stop.
Oh, hey, Joe, let them let them know.
Let me know.
If you play good, if you play good, people will cry on you.
If you play bad, it is what it is.
So, hey, Joe, what do you think, uh, uh, for this performance?
in this game after, especially after what we've seen in the last two years, man.
Like, is this just a bad game or is this one of those things where he may be having his
sophomore slumped his junior year?
It could be that because the end of the day, this is where it comes to where people talk
about it's longevity.
It's what have you done for me lately.
And when you're at the quarterback position, rookie season looks beautiful.
Same way with C.J. Strout.
Then your next year, it's like, okay, all right, bet.
is looking good.
And then he does two great seasons.
And then we gets to the playoffs last year, the last five games,
all these turnovers, not getting the ball to the right players.
And then you start your next season.
And then this first game, you don't want to say too bad,
but in the fourth quarter, you throw three picks.
We could have actually won the game now.
You're not only, you're not helping us.
You're hurting us.
So when it gets to the point where you start looking at quarterbacks where
Drake May, it's not, we know what you've done.
We know that you can throw the ball.
We notice you're a great quarterback.
You were doing good.
your rookie season, you let them to the playoffs last year, 30 touchdowns, 10 picks,
and then you come to the playoffs, and then you, then we remember that.
You're trying to get half of your needs.
We need you throwing the picks.
We remember the last thing that we saw you doing was not looking as good as you were doing
these.
We remember the good times, but the bad times in the playoffs is not looking that well.
And then you start off the next season, and it's like, okay, you're playing against
the Super Bowl champs.
We're in the building.
This is the squad.
We can see what happens.
They lose their starting quarterback.
So now you're playing versus the backup quarterback.
You've not been playing well.
Now you get to the fourth quarter.
It's a tie game.
You can get a field goal.
You're in field goal range.
You throw a pick.
Throw it out of bounds, bro.
You throw it out of bounds.
Live to fight another day.
Like, don't try to do too much.
You've already thrown two picks.
And now you throw three picks with 25 seconds left.
We have a timeout for us to be able to go to overtime.
You'd be doing that us stuff, man.
Who do you with?
When I say us, I'm just saying for people that,
are rooting.
Okay.
When I'm talking about a team,
I like to just say,
I'm just trying to put in the perspective
of what we're talking about.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, not us.
Like, I don't care.
But when you're looking at people going on Drake May
and like I respect him being,
when you say he's a franchise quarterback,
yes, I think that he's shown franchise things
and he's been able to do that.
But then when you start watching the games
and you're being able to grade each game individually,
it's not like we're taking away everything he's done before,
but it's what have you done for me lately?
When we've been in the position of playoffs,
with a good defense, you wet the bed.
Now we're going in here.
We're playing against the backup.
Our defense is bawling.
They've been putting us in position the whole game.
You've thrown two picks,
and now we get down so we can get another field goal
and you throw another turnover.
It's just like one touchdown, three picks,
that doesn't look good.
And there's no reasons for it
when you're looking at the tape.
It's just bad, you're throwing into bad situations.
There's checkdowns there.
It's not like you're running for your life.
If you were running for your life,
getting hit upside to head,
we have a different conversation.
But you're standing in the pocket,
making bad decisions, like throwing it to a squatted corner in cover two.
Like, no, don't throw that.
That's a bad play.
That's just you, not, you know what I'm saying, executing the quarterback position.
So when I'm looking at it like that, I'm like, okay, the Patriots, Drake May, right now,
it is, we know what you've done, but you have to show better play on the field.
Right now we're grading you from what you're doing on the tape.
So that game was not good.
You could have played way better.
The Patriots lost that game because you did not.
deliver. You wet the bed. So when we watched the next game, we want to see what's going on.
If your defense is playing this well, Gonzalez and them boys, Gonzalez balled. He's worth the bag.
When he was guarding J.S.N., he had no catches. He was one and over in motion.
Communicating. He was able to like, do his thing. I'm like, yes, that's beautiful.
But when you have Drake May out there, dude, everybody's doing their job. Now was your turn
to deliver the goods and you fumble. So we go to the next game. We'll watch it again.
and we'll see how the office does, the running game.
If he's making bad decisions with the ball,
they held the team to 13.
You know what I'm saying?
So, like, score 17.
It's you win the game.
And then we go talk about this stuff in a whole different way,
not in the way like, dude, you got to still play better.
But it's better talking about this when we win 17, 13,
then we lose 10 to 13.
It's like this.
You just jacked it all up for real.
You really blew the bag.
You could have blown the bag with two picks,
and then we ended up winning the game.
And now we could still talk about it.
because it wasn't, it's not that good, but we still won.
But now you're causing us to lose games.
Yeah, and you ain't got everybody jumping on your neck afterwards like we're doing right now.
You understand?
Yeah.
Come on.
Seattle, man.
And that's what franchise put about.
Seattle, they had a little scare with Sam Darnel.
He went down.
And Joe, I ain't going to even lie to you, man.
I thought when I saw it, and they did that replay, I thought his kneecap was gone.
But then they later, they said it was his hip.
So now, I guess,
Darnold is expected to miss, they said, two weeks with, I guess they got a report.
Yes.
So the report that came in said, it's not as bad as they thought it was.
I guess Mike McDonald saying that they don't know how long it's going to be.
But quote, really, really good news.
Joe, you got hit problems.
You know what I'm saying?
You're the hip dude.
What you think,
what you think happened to is hip, Joe?
But, Debo, I don't know.
I couldn't tell you.
I'm definitely not a doctor.
I just,
I'm just hurting in the hips.
All I get to tell you is,
I know what it feels like
for your hip to hurt.
You know what I'm saying?
But I hope he's able to return,
but it's just with me,
it's the Seahawks,
their team.
If he's able to return,
they're going to go.
Hold on, man.
Drew Locke stepped in.
Now, he handled,
he did himself.
Now he went 16 to 22.
He 187 yards, no interception and a touchdown, okay?
You think that with Darno out, you think they're going to be able to sustain
and he'll be able to hold it and play well enough to keep them in the fight until he returns?
This is what happens.
I was worried about the running game, and they ended up drafting my man from Notre Dame,
not love his backup
and he got him in the 30 second pick
in the draft. He's a baller.
So their running game
didn't really lose any
push. The offensive line's still blocking.
Their running game is still looking dialed.
JSN is still doing this thing.
They got,
they resigned their receiver 22.
So for me, I think the Seahawks
just have a full team.
They're not asking Jew Locke to do too much.
He didn't do too much.
He just basically methodically got the ball where it needed to be.
That pass to JSN was a five-yard pass that he took 45 yards for the touchdown.
So it's like when you have a great defense, when you have a good team that's putting you in positions, it's the don't lose it.
So Drew Locke, when he has great coaches, they're putting them in positions where it's like, boom, hand it off, hand it off.
They were never behind the sticks.
They were never asking Drew Locke to go convert a third down to 15.
If they were, check it down.
We'll punt the ball and our defense will put us in the position to get you the ball back.
hopefully with better field position.
It's like you got to realize what you got.
And with Sam Donald, he was making those good passes.
He wasn't just out there slinging it all around.
It was whenever it was time to make a good pass when that banged the JSN to like just certain.
He was delivering the goods.
Nice little passes.
Tint, 10 digs, a couple posts.
It's not like he's just out there shotgun willing and dealing just making people like just freestyle.
It's like your coach is calling the plays.
You're executing.
It's a team game.
You got to do your part.
Take them what they give you, Debo.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, that's what I'm looking at Drake May.
He was, you were down, your team still got you to get to deliver the goods.
You were still through two picks, but at the end of the day, you were down 10 to 13 on the 25-yard line with 25 seconds and the timeout.
You can kick a field goal and you can go to overtime.
And then we're, you know what I'm saying?
The team, we're figuring it out.
Like, let's make something happen.
Don't lose it.
So it's like with Drew Locke, as long as his coaches still continue to run the ball well.
the defense continues to play at a high level.
They didn't have all of their DBs.
Their best safety,
my rook, number three, he wasn't even out there last game.
So them dudes out there just making plays, communicating.
There's no bust.
Defense, they're out there bawling.
So as long as the team continues to play well,
you're not asking your quarterback to do too much.
So I think the earlier Sam Donald gets back, the better because, you know,
he's in his vibe.
He's in his back.
He won the Super Bowl.
I saw him beat the Rams making those passes.
Drew Lup, if the coach can protect them,
I think he might can be able to make it happen.

Okay, well, control is a harsh word.
I would say that's a harsh word.

Yeah, it's reading.
It's called reading.

Okay.

On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude.

I chose option B.
I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself

I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita,

Every time I tried to be alone,
I kept meeting people, and they were like,
you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here.
It's when you're alone that you're most receptive

and not the lies you're sold about it.
It can be a time where you push your limits,
change your mind,

Middle school is a different world than the one we grew up in.
I'm Dr. Joy, and this is
therapy for black girls. We spent real time on it in our surviving middle school run, bringing in
a child psychologist and a psychiatrist who's raising two black girls of his own to talk about
what's really going on with our kids right now. So it's literally physiological and neurological
and psychological chaos happening all this end up. We got into group chats and gaming,
friendships and bullying, and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring and the kind
of surveillance that erodes trust. There's belonging. You could think of belonging as,
I can be myself and I can still be accepted.
And then there's fitting in.
Spitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection.
Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers,
sitting down with therapists Keer Gaines on Black fatherhood
and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage.
You don't have on shorts, so you can't do flips.
You have on the dress, so you have to cross your legs.
That's the range of this run, from screen time to identity
to the fathers doing the work at home.
You have to get off her device.
But the reality is there's a lot of life.
out there that we don't want you as your adults in their life to miss out on.
This has been our surviving middle school run.
Brought to you by the people who spend their careers thinking about exactly this.
I'm Dr. Joy.
Listen to Therapy for Black Girls on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Because 16 for 22, 187 in the tuttee.
But that's, that's, if you can continue to just play within the office, manage the game, and don't turn the ball over.
If he can do that, I think he'll be fine.
Those numbers aren't great, but the big thing he did was he did not turn the ball over.
He had a good percentage of the throws that he made that they caught the ball.
I think they'll be fine.
A.J. Brown, he also went down.
But I guess it's now confirmed to have a high ankle sprain.
And he's expected to miss four weeks, bro.
Joe, how much do you think this is going to handicap the Patriots?
I think it's going to handicap the Patriots a lot because with Drake May, I mean,
end of the day, we got Collins and who is really, who's the other receiver?
We got Collins.
I can't think of his name right now, dude.
Hollins.
Hollins.
Hollins.
Romeo Dobbs.
Romeo Dobbs.
So that's, Romeo Dawes, we're speaking about how he wasn't playing well.
Hey, I might help me, help you.
catch out there, Joe.
Help me help you.
So it's, you got to be able to catch the ball.
Help me.
Help you.
So when he got, Joe, when he dropped the ball right there,
when Drake made fine, he had a good one,
the overrout right to him.
He turned his head before.
I understand, like, everybody's not perfect,
but got, right now your quarterback is struggling,
we need one.
So we can't just be having your quarterback,
your receivers got to help your quarterback out.
So then I think with, with Hollins and with Dobbs,
if A.J. Brown not out there.
I thought the addition to him would be able to help.
Drake Mae. No matter what, end of the day, if there's man to man, you know you got you one over
here that can go get something done. So not having him with the way that Drake May is looking,
he needs to get back into that mental game where, boy, you better check down if it's not
available. Don't turn the ball over. Don't try to go out here and be creating nothing if it's not
there. Don't go doing the most. Like still, because you franchise quarterback, you hear that,
but franchise quarterbacks don't turn the ball over. It doesn't take, you just got to manage
the game. Just do, don't hurt your team. You know,
I'm saying. And when you start hurting your squad, that's when it's like, you're trying to do too much.
You got to do your part. If the line not blocking, if they, but when things are open, hit it.
You know what I'm saying? Like, don't put too much pressure on yourself, but you got to start
making the right plays and don't hurt your team. Yeah, I think it's going to handicap. I don't think
it's going to hurt them as, as much as you think it'll hurt them. I think it's just going to come down
to even with him gone. They could have won that. Drake May just lost it for him.
like that's just that's just really what it came down to but let's get over here and let's see
the stillers the Pittsburgh Steelers are playing the Atlanta Falcons at home like I said Joe yes
sir and uh Joseph I don't even know what I what do you I don't want no nothing else but who
you think are wins or that's it stillers the man stillers go win that hey that's it that's a that's a
That's a good thing.
Hey, look, don't y'all forget it.
Y'all want to get to this game for y'all late comers, baby.
Make sure you like, subscribe.
And follow.
Follow us.
We got tickets.
Bebo and Joe, myself and Joe.
And as soon as you do that, we and Joe, me and Joe,
and I will be personally picking the winners of two sets of two tickets.
It's going to be four people going to the game.
Joe will pick two.
I'm going to pick two.
We're going to notify you either on Debo and Joe, Joe, or myself.
Okay?
Yes.
Now, you will be notified.
They are playing the Atlanta Falcons.
And, um, that's they are.
Your guy, you got Tunga Voloa.
I got his name right.
I'm hitting this thing.
Tua Tunga Vailua.
Tunga Vila.
Went down with an apparent oblique injury during practice.
and was out for the remainder of the day.
Joe, look at this video.
Got to be more careful.
Yep.
Oh, huh.
Want to take you down like that?
And he's trying to, yep.
I believe you.
Oh, yeah.
Joe.
What is that, Joe?
He had an oblique.
That's that oblique.
How you put that?
That's that oblique.
I had an oblique.
How'd you do it?
Throwing the football?
No, not those heat.
How'd you do it?
I got hit.
Oh, you got hit.
I ain't seen nobody hitting, bro.
Like, what happened right there?
Listen, listen, Tua had some back issues earlier in track camp, okay?
And he played, what was it, two of the three games during preseason four later.
So he got two of the three.
Pinnick's still not ready.
He's working this way back from an ACL tear.
So the starting quarterback against the Steelers, looks like it's going to be.
be Cooper Rush or
it could be Tua if he can
play. Okay. Joe
what's going on
with Tua? Because you know I got my theories.
No, I need to hear you. I want to hear your theory
before you, before I say what I have to say.
Listen, go ahead. You already know.
Let me hear you. And I have my
theories. So, and I know what
happened. Allegedly.
I'm going to say allegedly, because I don't,
really no, but I'm thinking if I was in the same position and I was him, not me, of course,
if and I was him, they was watching game tape, okay? And you get to that Thursday, Friday game
tape and they start pressure, you know, you're showing pressure, res, all that, you know, you're showing all that,
you know, you know, you should, you know, hold on. I don't know where you're going. Okay, okay, go ahead.
And what happened was the distillers, you know, when he played in Miami over there last year, that tape came up.
And that man started having flashbacks.
And that man said, hey, let me get up out of here.
I'm pulling my back, oblique, everything, my ass, everything, Joe.
I'm pulling whatever I need to do before I get up.
Not to go in there and be the starboard.
Before I get in here and they don't name me the starting quarterback, I'm healthy.
You understand?
Like Atlanta, hey, they go put me out here.
They go let them Pittsburgh Steelers put their hands on me again, Joe.
I am a boy, Damon.
Debo, you got to do.
See, Debo, that's actually hilarious.
Because I don't, that's not what happened.
What you did happen, Joe?
You know, Tua is, Tua is going, it's just bad luck.
It's bad luck, Dibo.
I don't think Tua wants to be hurt.
I don't think that he likes that.
I think that when he did that injury right there, that's like,
when he did that injury, okay, go ahead.
When he did that injury, keep talking.
I think, I think when he threw the ball, he might have really just, ah, like his oblique just
was, ah, and then it might have really messed up.
He might have torn it.
I don't, I don't know.
I can't, I'm not in this.
body. I'm not in his body. I just don't know what toa now with this with this happened in
Debo, I'm telling you for real. If he is, you're talking about injury prone. Now we're talking about
I was hoping to get out there. Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, injury prone is the thing that's like you do
by yourself. He was getting popped with concussions left and right. Somebody else was helping him do
that. He did all this by himself. No, no, no, no, no, for sure, for sure. No, injury prone is too
when you're running around
sometimes he's running around
on his feet a little silly
maybe he's trying to learn how to slide
that's a little self-inflict.
Maybe that was just from the concussions
he forgot.
So, stop it.
That's C.C. C. Devo, don't do that.
I'm not bad. Don't you tell my bad.
I know. I see. Real talk, though.
It's
For the Steelers,
for us, for the Steelers,
now who did, long story,
I'm looking for the best interests of us.
I hope two is going to be successful.
Well, I say us, Steve,
I don't want him to suffer this week.
I want him to come back, though.
But look, Cooper,
Cooper, which is you worried about, I won't.
I won't.
I'm worried about it, dude.
I just feel like Moor Rush might have a better chance
of having a little bit more success
because of, you know, his,
well, not with the Ravens.
That was, that was.
Can I tell you something?
Let me tell you something.
We don't, let me tell you something.
say something. If we worried about...
I ain't worried about it. Tua,
Pennix,
or what we need to do is tackle
Bijon Robinson.
If we do that... I'm not worried about that. You got
Kevin Stavansky over there. He ain't going to run the ball.
He knows what's going to help him.
Kevin Stavansky going to realize he only...
Who's going through? He got Cooper Rush on. But he don't want to
be, he don't want to be, you know...
Tua. Tua hair is oblique. And then my man,
Pennix got the ACL.
You know what I'm saying? He don't want to be.
All I'm telling you is this.
We're going in there playing these Atlanta Falcons.
and going to spank him out the way
because we have to stop bid.
The main reason we'll win
is because we stop Bijan Robinson.
They got a tight end over there too now.
They got pits.
They do got Kyle Pitts.
Now, if we put two in there, we eliminate him.
If we put anybody in there,
I'm trying to, Debo, I hear you, I hear you,
but they got, if we were about
the Lama Hopkins past me in bowl,
that's the last thing.
They had Bejohn Robinson.
If he, we just need to make sure he,
Bejohn catch.
Is nephew go play?
Is nephew go play?
Listen, yeah.
Nephton, you ain't got no contract.
We got a couple.
We got a couple of days to figure that out.
I mean,
I'm hoping,
we're hoping.
We got a couple of days.
We got it,
we got it.
We got less than 48 hours, Joe.
We got.
Yep.
We're going to have some good news in 48 hours.
We got less than 48 hours.
Neph,
you ain't got no contract, brother.
Listen here, I'm going to tell you this.
I'm going to tell you with God love, and that's the truth.
Yeah, that is.
If he go out there with no contract, that is the goofiest move in the world.
And I ain't never known to be a goofy person.
Look here.
Speaking of Aaron Rogers, he called the Packers Head Coach.
Matt LaFure, a clown.
After saying Jordan Love was a better pre-snap quarterback than.
him.
It wasn't as bad as it sounds,
so listen to it.
He's probably still mad.
I changed too many of his plays.
Big statement when he had a guy
went back-to-back MVP's, you know?
I guess I wasn't doing too much at the LOS.
That's a clown, man.
He says some things from time and time that are funny.
Then he's like, oh, maybe I shouldn't have said that.
Like, he's backing up his quarterback.
I mean, like,
Yeah, I'm sure Jay Love is real good at the skirmings.
But come on, man.
Hey, Joe, I ain't a lot, G, man.
Yo.
I kind of love this level of petty, you know what I'm saying?
I think it could have been much, like, it could have been way worse.
Like, you know, like, he could have went harder, especially if that was like me back in the day, you know, when I was playing before I highlight him now, you know what I said?
I probably would have went way further than that.
So you could tell by Aaron's response, his voice.
Like, it's a level of understanding that he has with the fluror that he's going to say something that's not thought out of, you know what I'm saying?
Because, yeah, that is definitely one of the craziest statements that I've heard.
Somebody say about Aaron Rogers.
What do you think?
Yeah.
I think it's the same thing, Debo.
Sometimes people forget that when, like Aaron Rogers, he's been in the league for such a long time.
He's had MVP's, him and the coach have a different relationship.
So, like, when he's saying that he's mad at him.
I'm changing his plays.
And then his coach is peeking on his quarterback.
He's like, yeah, he has every right now to, like, speak for his quarterback.
So there's a level of now when you're able to get these answers from people,
Aaron Rogers could have easily said, you know what I'm saying, nothing or just been chill.
But now he's going to let you know kind of like, he has a relationship with this dude.
He would say that to back up his quarterback, but like I'm an MVP's.
This is how I really feel.
Aaron can say how he feels about it and thinks it's like a petty relationship that when coach make those comments,
he's like this.
What do you guys really think?
Like, obviously he's going back his quarterback.
He's good at the line.
I mean, I don't think nobody's asked him.
I'm changing his plays.
Precisely, does Jordan Love have a better pre-snap organization in recognition than Aaron Rogers?
I think he might have just put that out there by itself, you know, just trying to, like you said, trying to boost up his quarterback.
Yeah.
And Aaron Rogers had every right to feel a certain type of way.
Because if somebody says something that's putting.
their quarterback, which he should do as a coach.
He's like, oh, yeah, this is my franchise guy, I'm pumping him up.
And Aaron Rogers being on a different team hearing somebody talk about you, he's like this.
And you feel like you're better than that person and that statement is false,
then you feel like you can speak on it.
So it's like when you're looking at it's like, that's kind of what happens.
When you hear coaches say this pumping up somebody else, Aaron Rogers has every right to defend
himself and the coach want to pump up his quarterback.
Yeah, I ain't tripping on it, man.
Look here, man.
let's go over here to your
Cleveland Browns
your your Cleveland Browns
played the Jacksonville
Jaguars at one o'clock
same time we do on Sunday
on Sunday in Jacksonville okay
now you know what
it's a simple question Joe
who you think of a win
who you got winning Joe
who I got winning
you can't hear it my mic knock
the Browns
can you hear me
oh now you
muted, Debo.
Debo, now you moved it.
Hey, Joe, that's a good, hey, that's a good thing that you couldn't hear because I said something real disrespect with Joe.
I said something real disrespect.
No, I didn't, Joe.
What I said is, that's a good thing that you, you know, you feel like y'all go win.
But I don't, I don't feel that same way.
I don't think y'all going to win.
