Starting point is 00:01:13 Good luck with that is a skateboarding podcast about the past, present, and future of women and gender expansive skateboarding. In our show, we'll talk with skaters like Bobby Delphino on pushing style, culture, and the conversation forward. You break down the door, sick. Now, like, hold the door for everyone. I believe in that solely.
Starting point is 00:01:31 So listen to good luck with that on Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Oh, Cho, I bet Hard Knocks wishing they were following the Cleveland Browns around this year. Now, it's Dylan Gabriel's significant other jumping into the drama. Whoa, what happened? What happened? She's posting a TikTok saying, my fiancé Dylan is not playing. I have thoughts about that, but I'm not going to share it. She then captioned another with Brown's Lost, what's new?
Starting point is 00:02:02 But then he got into a disagreement with a commenter on a post and wrote, actually, everyone in the building wants them to play. But you wouldn't know because you're never been into the NFL or coach, right? Well, you know, I mean, listen, we see this all the time. We see family members display their frustrations, whatever they may be, really not understanding how the game works, you know, the ends and outs of it. And, you know, she wants her fiancee to be on the field. You know, he's not on the field.
Starting point is 00:02:36 Shadour has been chosen to be the quarterback. How does she know everybody in the building wants him to play? I mean, they've been on the news for how long? I'm asking you, how does she know that unless somebody pillow talking? Oh, come on, man. I tell you what, let Charles, when you're in Cincinnati, let Chances say, man, my brother ain't getting the ball. They need to throw the ball with my ball or trade it.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Right. What you tell me what you think, people in Cincinnati and what the Bengals organization is going to think. Where did that come from? Oh, that, did I say something? What you be, I said something? You know they came that came from you. Even if it didn't, that's what they're going to believe. That's why I always tell family, friends, and loved ones, be mindful of what you say because whether they said it or not is going back to them. Yeah. I mean, you know, that's his wife. You know, they have those conversation. I'm sure he does.
Starting point is 00:03:31 Of course I want to play. Of course I want to start. You. You know, you go home and who's the one person you have peace and get vint to when it comes to. Oh, honey, how is your dead work? Well, shit, I ain't starting. Mm-hmm. Those are conversations that I had between a couple, a husband and wife, a fiance. You know, I mean, that's normal. And she's vending and her frustrations about, oh, damn, here we go.
Starting point is 00:03:55 What's new? We don't lost again. But you have to be careful now, Ocho, because back then there was no social media that your significant other could go to. Ah. Now, there's this platform called social media that they can go to and disseminate information all across the world and instantaneous. So even if you were to sin and then hit delete, it's gone.
Starting point is 00:04:16 Oh, it's too late. It's gone. It's too late. Once you hit sin, it's a wrap. Man, Lord, have mercy. I just wish people understood that it's a, it makes, it put Dylan in a bad spot. Right.
Starting point is 00:04:30 because I don't believe See, when she said the locker When she said, hold on, let me say Actually, the building When she said the building I don't think, I think it's from locker room up. I don't think it's the locker room down.
Starting point is 00:04:45 I don't think it's the locker room. I think it's from above the locker room up. The building, I think that's the executive. I think that's the front office. Hold on we already know that though. We already know that. Based on the words versus Based on things that have been said,
Starting point is 00:04:57 you know that part. but down below where it really matters the meat and potatoes of the team I don't need to say no more because I can't throw anybody else under the bus you know like I slipped up long time ago I don't want to do that again but that's what they want
Starting point is 00:05:19 that's what they won't just be that's what they want inside that building the people that's going to war and I'm not telling you what I'm not telling what I heard I'm telling you what I know. What I don't understand is that people need to understand you're not the center of attention. If you weren't dating Dylan Gabriel,
Starting point is 00:05:41 how many people you think would know who she is? That's what anybody, unless you're Taylor Swift. Now, Taylor Swift is a different animal. Everybody know who she is, even if she's not dating travel. Right. But when you look at it, Sierra Rust, okay, that's a different dynamic.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Right. But when we're talking about, somebody that doesn't have that name, that name or brand recognition that you only know, oh, that's Dylan Gabriel, Frionse. Right. Oh, that's such a, that's Ocho's wife. Man, that's Ocho's significant other. So anything to get said out of her mouth, that at court that relates back to football.
Starting point is 00:06:19 Right. Ocho talking ass. That's how it is. I'm sorry. Yeah. It's just like stuff at work. When stuff come back to work, oh, I told you that. I told you that.
Starting point is 00:06:36 I've seen situations get messy because something got said in the locker room. Somebody went back and told their wife a girlfriend. Uh-oh. Woo-oh-woo-woo-woo. Now. And it got all over the place, huh?
Starting point is 00:06:47 All over the place. Damn. And you know where it came from because we talked about it in the locker room. Locker room, yeah. And ain't none of the wives, girlfriends, significant of the other, fiancés, or whatever they want to be
Starting point is 00:07:00 within the locker room to hear. So one of you, mofo said it. Running your mind. And in that group, it ain't but a small group. It ain't like we're talking aloud across the, across the room. Uh-huh. We're talking in a small group, four or five.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Yeah. Oh, so it's easy. It's easy to pinpoint who says something, man. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. I always ask somebody, hey, man, Sean, let me tell you something. I'd be like, okay, who else you told? man I ain't told nobody
Starting point is 00:07:35 because I don't want you to tell somebody else and then they get out and then you told about my shop. I didn't tell nobody but shop you a damn lie. Because if you already told somebody else, don't tell me. Yeah, hold on, hold on. Yeah, it's, Chad, it's just a bad spot
Starting point is 00:07:55 to put your significant other end in the locker room because I'm telling you how athletes think, be it football, basketball, baseball, when something gets out and if team related, they're like, what? She must have heard him say that. He's saying that.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Even if it's not true, she could have just been going out on a whim on her own and saying how she feels. Dylan might not have said anything, but they're still going to attach it. It's just like anything else. If somebody does something, the first place they go, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hey.
Starting point is 00:08:38 You see that? Yes, sir. First of all, why you got my jersey, Ocho? Why you got my jerseys? Hey, listen. Hey, when I, hey, let me tell you something. When I, hold on, let me tell you how I got the jersey. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Hey, see, when you was out of town, right, when you were traveling and you were doing them alcohol, hey, listen, you were doing one of them alcohol signs, and I had to break in your house, right? And I had to steal my trophies. Dude, I snatched one of these jerseys up off of you. I snatched one of these jerseys too. How about we make a trade?
Starting point is 00:09:12 Huh? How about we make a trade? Nah, don't worry about it. I'm going to keep this. I'm going to keep this. I'm going to keep this for the rest of my trophies. Hey, this is the real deal, too. Look, look at the sleeves.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Oh, yeah. Oh, Joe, I got the home in the way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I like that. The beach hot tides. I like that. I tell you what, when you send the rest of my wars, I got you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:34 Yeah, I appreciate this. Hey, it's heavy. It's stitched up, too. This is the real deal, right? Oh, yeah. Hold on, hold on. You see what that's good? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Hey, we look about the same. See the guns? Yes, sir. Yeah, I appreciate that. I just, Chad, it's kind of like, Ocho, is somebody in jail and they escape? What's the, where the first place they go is where? They mama, they girl.
Starting point is 00:10:14 He ain't got no. He got to be going there. Mom and your girl. Hey, think about, think of. Somebody says something, and it has to do with the locker room. Even if, like I said, Ocho, even if that's her, even if those are her own thoughts. And she, I like to believe she's smart enough and she can have her own thoughts. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:32 But that's not what people are going to believe. No, not at all. And I don't think she's thinking about it that way, anyway. She was just more so expressing her feelings based on how she feels about want her husband or husband to be, you know, to actually be out there actually plan. But she knows she knows better now because she's going to get the backlash and then it's going to fall on Dylan Gabriel and he's going to get pissed. What are you doing? You can't be doing that.
Starting point is 00:10:59 They're both new to this. They're both new to this. And she will understand you got to be careful before you hit sin, you've got to think. Because once you hit it, it's there for life. And guess what else, Ocho? Guess who's going to get asked about this? You think they're going to ask 12 about this? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:16 You think they're going to ask the fansky about this? Of course. Unnecessary. Don't really have, shouldn't look, they should be like, okay, what do you guys need to do to get a win? What do you guys need? Blah, blah, blah. Right. I got, now I got to ask, answer questions about something, a lady that ain't, hey, ain't up, ain't, only be going to the game to see Dillon.
Starting point is 00:11:39 Yeah. Now I've got to answer questions about what she said. That ain't got nothing to do that's going to help us win a football game, Mocho. Nothing whatsoever. Yeah. Hey, it just adds to the circus. It adds unnecessary fuel to the fire. So I just, like, Chad, I would just recommend anybody, young ladies,
Starting point is 00:12:00 if you, you're dating a guy in college or high school and you guys might be together. Just keep that in mind. Everything you say that's related to football is going to be tied back to him. And you might have your, you might be your own person. You have your own thoughts. You have your own mind. that I get to talk, I can speak freely.
Starting point is 00:12:20 But they're going to tie it back to him. And that's not fair. And that's not fair to him. And you don't want to put that kind of stress. You don't want to put that kind of pressure. And you don't want to shine that kind of light on him. So just be mindful of that, that your actions going to reflect back on him. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:12:40 It's going to tie back to him. Just like if you do something out, oh, man, that's, man. Oh, man, you heard what happened to Ocho girl? Man, you heard, man, man, man, they say Sharp girl was acting a fool in the mall. Yeah. It's different when you date a celebrity, entertainer, actor, actress. It's a different set of rules. Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:06 And you have to move differently. You got to buy it by. You can't like, oh, I move how you can't do that. Because now you can't just think about you. You have to think about that other person. And the possible jeopardy apparel, you might put this. in. And I don't think enough people do that. No. But you should. I mean, the really ones,
Starting point is 00:13:25 Ocho, you ain't never seen, you ain't never seen Peyton's wife or heard her and her say anything, have you? No. See, that's a, that's a different type of understanding. I had no idea to, she walked there to me. She said, you don't know who I am. I said, I sure don't. She said, I'm Ashley, man. I say, how you do it? Yeah. Had a great. There's, I mean, so many people that you wouldn't even know. That's their Why? Because they're like, hey, stay in the shadows, do what I do. I understand. Well, some understand they have to play the background. Some understand they have to play the background and they're not the main character. I understand I'm not the main character and I know my place and I know my role. There are a lot like that. Then there are some that want to be front center. Okay, that's my man. But I need to be, I need to be front center right along with him. It's different. Everybody's different. It also depends on who you're dating. Yes. Some people date you just because they want to be front center.
Starting point is 00:14:21 Yeah. And quarterbacks, first of all, quarterback's bars are a different level. Yes. You basically dating the CEO. Yes. You date the CEO. The guy. So you definitely, you definitely have to be willing to take a back seat.
Starting point is 00:14:36 You got to be like Savannah James. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. She ain't going to, hey, she's going to do a little podcast. She got a little whatever she got going on. Mm-hmm. Look, they try to beat up for Aisha Curry, but I understand what she said. I understand what she said.
Starting point is 00:14:54 But, man, I just, I just, I just hate it. I just, you know, understand. They're young, though, Cho. Some things, you know, sometimes you have to make a mistake before you understand the gravity of what you're in. Mm-hmm. And then you get a true understanding of what you're dealing with. Right.
Starting point is 00:15:10 So hopefully she learned that, just keep that to yourself. Okay, the building wants them to play. If when that time comes, he gets an opportunity to get back in there. He plays well, he's over to hold down the spot. But don't you go on social media. A new year doesn't mean erasing who you were. It means honoring what you've survived and choosing how you want to grow. It means giving ourselves permission to feel what we've been holding
Starting point is 00:15:36 and knowing that it's okay to ask for help. I'm Mike Dolorotia, host of Sacred Lessons. Try them for free at wasabi.com. If one of us wins, we all win. I'm Ashley Reifeld, and I'm the host of the women's skateboarding podcast. Good luck with that. Good luck with that is a skateboarding podcast that is part cultural record, part news brief. mostly group therapy, and a place to talk about the past, present, and future of women and gender expansive skateboarding.
Starting point is 00:17:19 This week, me and my co-host, Nora Vasconcelos and Alex White, we have Fabiana Delphino on the show, a professional skateboarder from Florida, whose grit was forged in a family of athletes. Tune in to hear how she broke into the boys' club, what it takes to be pro, and why just being grateful you're here shouldn't be the price of entry. Maybe the industry thinks that we just started skating five years ago, because that's when they maybe started paying attention. It's a no-fluff conversation about putting in the year, stacking clips and receipts, and still having to prove your worth while the industry catches up. You break down the door, sick, now, like, hold the door for everyone. We created good luck with that because we want to share our experience of existing an industry
Starting point is 00:17:58 that wasn't always built for everyone. So listen to good luck with that on IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Act up. Coach, the Browns beat the Bears beat the Browns, excuse me, by the score of 31 to 3. the Browns Hill Cleveland to 192 yards and turned three interceptions against your door into 17 points. With three takeaways, Chicago extended their lead
Starting point is 00:18:26 to 30. Remember, Ocho? Yeah. D.A. Dennis Allen. He was in Denver. He was the coordinator. He was at the Raiders. He was at the Saints.
Starting point is 00:18:39 He's an unbelievable defense coordinator. And I think we had Jalen Johnson on earlier in the year, and he was talking about what he brought that sweat. You know, they got guys that can take Kevin Bayar, can take the ball away. They brought in CJ Gardner Johnson who can take
Starting point is 00:18:55 the ball away and seemingly good things always followed the teams that he ends up landing on. But they got guys that have the quarterback. And they did a great job with pressure to the door. They sacked him five times. They picked him off three times. But he's going to have to learn. I keep saying this. He keeps bubbling.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Yeah. He's not going to outrun. defensively ends in this league, Ocho, but somehow he thinks he is. You're not your father should do her. You don't have that kind of athleticism. Sometimes you could step up and then go, but you're trying to bubble.
Starting point is 00:19:32 It ain't going to happen. He made a couple of good throws on Ocho. He hit 16. I forget his name, Ocho. Bon, Vaugh, he hit him. He had him for again, but he put it up, put too much air to win. He got it and killed it.
Starting point is 00:19:46 If he threw that one more on a line, that's a touchdown. That's a touchdown. But he has to understand, bro. That's why you get out there and you try to get adjusted to the wind. You can't throw when it's that cold, that air is heavy. Yeah. If you're in the Midwest, that air is heavy. So plus it's probably a little windy.
Starting point is 00:20:10 You put that ball up there like that high. It ain't going where you think it is. every time, every time, especially this is a good game for him too. He didn't play well enough or he didn't play well for them to be able to compete and contend against a Chicago Bears team and defense and offense that's been clicking on all cylinders damn near all year long. Been clicking on all cylinders all damn year long. But he did make some good throws, but he didn't play well enough today.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Obviously, this is a game that he can continue to grow from. And playing in those conditions, I played in Chicago. I'm sure you played there too. People in the chat, if you're from Chicago, you also know you got to go out there in warm-ups. You got to go out there in the warm-ups and adapt to the elements and understand what you can and what you can do. There are certain throws you won't be able to make. Not in that environment, not with that win and not with those elements.
Starting point is 00:20:59 And, I mean, he just didn't play well. There's really nothing else really to say about it. They were intercepts to date. They made him uncomfortable. He doesn't have the foot speed to be able to escape the pocket like he wants to, especially when he tries to bubbling outrun some of the defense ends. If anything, you've got to play. you got to play within your strengths.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Drop back. If you're in the gun, stay within the framework or what you're able to do. You know, your pocket presence, he has great pocket presence. He has great pocket awareness.
Starting point is 00:21:24 And when you are able to be mobile, do it within the tackles, within the guards. Anything outside is just not happening unless they commit and crash down too fast. Outside of that, trying to bubble out
Starting point is 00:21:36 and trying to outrun the D-Ens, it's not going to work. Because all of them, all of the goddamn D-Ns, they damn their four-fax. Yeah. And even if they're 4 6, they still going to catch him at 4 8, 4 9. Right.
Starting point is 00:21:49 Uh-huh. Ocho, Judy got to happen. He hit Judy in the chest, Ocho. That can't be an interception. It can be an incompletion, but it can't be an interception. In the end zone, the one Jalen Johnson kicked off. Ocho, that can't be an interception. It's a touchdown or an incompletion. Yeah, you got to be able to get that out of there.
Starting point is 00:22:12 And so, okay, hit him in the chest. Yeah. Yeah. You got to make. The one thing that we won't not do, Ocho and I,
Starting point is 00:22:22 we're going to call it like I see it, how we see it. Shoulder didn't play well today. There's no way to sugarcoat that. Yeah, the elements, yeah, Caleb Williams was out there in the same 10 degree weather.
Starting point is 00:22:34 The wind blowing, whatever it was, he was in it also. His players had to make plays. Luther Burton, the third, made plays. DJ Moore. made plays.
Starting point is 00:22:43 Coast of Loveland, made plays. Commet, made plays. Okay. I like Harold Fannie, Jr. He had 14 targets,
Starting point is 00:22:51 Ocho. He made plays. Yeah. Isaiah Bond made some plays, but Judy, you got to make plays for it. Shador, you got to do a better,
Starting point is 00:22:57 you got to do a better job of, hey, just get rid of the ball. It's okay. I think the thing is is that for so long he's been able to make every play,
Starting point is 00:23:08 Ocho, at most levels, he thinks that's the same. It ain't happened. Tom Brady couldn't make every play. Peyton Mani couldn't make every play. You name a great quarterback and he couldn't make every play. Shador is going to have to learn how to to learn when to throw the ball away.
Starting point is 00:23:24 And he hasn't learned that yet. And I don't know why. I don't know. What is it? It's fourth start, Ocho, fourth or fifth start. So as this thing progresses, let's take all this information, all this information that you're getting right now,
Starting point is 00:23:41 catalog it. You're going to have a great portfolio to look at going into this off-season of things that you absolutely need to work on. And when you come back next year, these mistakes, Ocho and I are not going to be as forgiving. We understand that you're a rookie quarterback and only a sports start.
Starting point is 00:24:03 But moving forward as next year, in the same position, we won't, no, you can't make those mistakes. That's unforgiving. And then the one thing, And the one thing about it is he's going to have to be able to recall some of the things that happened this year. And when you're put in those situations again, the following year, you don't make those same mistakes. You don't make those same mistakes because you're able to recall, okay, I know this is happening.
Starting point is 00:24:25 Oh, shoot, they run the same defense. Or I see that safety coming down. I see that safety you plan on the hash. Okay, they're not coming. I understand. And so once you're able to recall the information and regurgitate it mentally in your head and visualize what's coming, because damn, I saw that last year. so I know exactly what's coming. And I think he can going to be all right.
Starting point is 00:24:45 But obviously as a rookie. The one thing, we got to look, there's only one starting offensive linemen that started the season that was starting today. So all this notion that that's the same offense is not. No, it's not the same offensive line that the other quarterback started with. It's not.
Starting point is 00:25:03 So let's take that in consideration. So now he's out there playing. He's playing with a backup offensive line. You see, look at the difference between Chicago. Chicago was the most sack team. They were 30th in Russian. Now they're second in Russian. Their second is.
Starting point is 00:25:22 Only the Broncos have allowed fewer sacks than what the Bears. You see the difference? People were talking about Caleb Williams. I told you they should have taken Jay Daniels. And that all could pan out. But you see what the Bears did. The Bears went out and said, you know what? We've got a franchise quarterback.
Starting point is 00:25:40 We've got to protect. objective. Joe Tuny. They go get a left guard. They go get a center. They get a, uh, uh, uh, Jonah, I think it's Jonah Jones. Uh, I think they got him from the Rams. They get a right tackle.
Starting point is 00:25:54 Now they're able to run the ball. Their second and rush yards per game. Their second have allowed the second few of sacks. You see the difference when Caleb Williams now in last year. Look at this team. Yes. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:06 compared to this year. They're challenging for the number one seed. They got 10 wins already with three games to play. Personnel matters. Offensive line. That's how you build. You build your team front to back. I don't give him down who your quarterback is.
Starting point is 00:26:30 Let him not get protected and see what happens. You see how ordinary Baham's look when he's running for. his life. You see, we saw that with Brady. I don't care who you are. Your offensive line can't protect you. You ain't doing much of nothing. Yeah. Absolutely. But, uh,
Starting point is 00:26:48 man, Miles, man, I should, man, boy, I show Hope Miles. Look like he tweaked that growing on, Cho. He got a sack and a half. He's at 21 and a half. He needs a sack and a half to break the record. He got three games. What's, what's on Cleveland's schedule?
Starting point is 00:27:06 They got the bill. Oh, Lord. Sit this without miles. Get healthy. Bill's Steelers, Bengals. Oh, he'll go get that record. He'll go get that record against Yon. Nah, he'll get that record. Nah, he'll get that record.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Josh Allen is not an easy quarterback to sack, damn it. First of all, getting to him might be easy. Getting its big ass on the ground. Because think about it, he's bigger than Big Ben. He's faster than Big Ben. See, the issue wasn't getting to Big Ben. It was getting his ass on the ground. what you got to it.
Starting point is 00:27:40 Yeah, he'd be as a big boy. Yeah, but Miles Garrett, he's going to be a unanimous defensive player at a year. Nobody else is really in the running for that, 21 and a half sacks. No. I just hope that groin is able to hold up and he's able to play these next three weeks. But look, Cleveland, man, you, you, you got to get, you got to get an offensive line. You got to get, you got to get your dors of weapons. That's all I got.
Starting point is 00:28:07 That's what we got for you. Without weapons? Yeah. You got something up here? What? They said Jerry Judy needs to delete his social media for a while. During the broadcast, Ocho, check this out. During the broadcast, Allison Williams reported that the Browns removed Shador's wristband
Starting point is 00:28:25 and made some changes to the play call. Ocho. How do you remove the wristband and add plays to a risk? Ocho, have you ever heard anything like this? I've never heard anything like that, but I know when you do go into a game, obviously, you know you understand and those that have played the game at any level.
Starting point is 00:28:47 The first 15 plays are scripted. Now, outside of that you have a number of plays that you practice all week. You practice all that on that wristband. And obviously, you go to your wristband to be able to reflect on what they want to call based on what they call into your ear. Now, whatever they did, once they take that wristband off,
Starting point is 00:29:04 I'm still sure it's plays that just might not have been on the wristband. How did they not on the wristband, oh, Joe? What they do, they call it, they'll say 34. You scan down, 34. Okay, red, right, 17, blah, blah, blah, blah. That's what they do. That's why you see the guy. You see that you go, chat, when you look at them,
Starting point is 00:29:22 you see they going down like this here. Oh, there's 304. Okay, right there. That's the play. How to hell you add plays to a, you had all week? What plays are you adding to a wristband that you took time out and you had your secretaries to type up and put on? Now you take the wrist back off and to add plays,
Starting point is 00:29:43 I've never heard of this in my life. Listen, hey, I've never heard of it either, but that is the only explanation I can think of is that there were plays that they wanted to run, that they might have practiced during the week. They just wasn't on the current wrist brand. That's the wrong current risk brand. That's the only thing I can think of.
Starting point is 00:29:59 So why would you not put them on there? Yeah, I have no idea. But listen, your, yo, your thought is just as good as mine. That's the only thing I can think of. Because, because, you know, You know what they're not going to do? You know what they're not going to do? They're not going to call no plays that they didn't run a practice during the week.
Starting point is 00:30:16 They're not going to do that. So why would you add plays? So if you really add those plays, clearly you practiced them, why weren't they already on the wristband? Yeah. Ain't no telling. Because when I heard it, Ocho, Ocho, here's the Fansky being asked about it after the game. Yeah, there was a miscommunication early.
Starting point is 00:30:48 I think they mentioned that you guys had the wrong plays in the wristband on the first two drives. Is that accurate? No, yeah. Yeah. There was something, I don't know if the wristband got something on it or whatever it was, but we got that fixed pretty quickly. Oh, Joe. I mean, you know the funny thing about it is, it's hard when reporters ask a coach, a question,
Starting point is 00:31:13 especially like that, a coach is always going to be PC. He's always going to be politically correct and not give the true honest answer on what the issue is behind whatever it was that happened with the wrist. They're never going to tell us the truth. They're never going to. So now it leaves all of us guessing.
Starting point is 00:31:28 It leaves all of us guessing because the wristband is made up. Excuse me. Before, maybe what? Maybe a Friday or maybe a Saturday because you understand what plays you have, what vocal plays you like, what vocal plays we ran in practice
Starting point is 00:31:41 that should do it well. And that's what goes on the wristband. But here's the thing, Ocho. they're not leaving till Saturday morning. So Saturday morning is the last official wristband that you're going to get. Right. So that's what you're going to have.
Starting point is 00:31:56 That's what your first 15 plays. The first 15, you already know what they are. You walk through those. You've talked about them the night before. The quarterback coach has gone over those which you do. These are the play, the first 15 plays that we're going to call. This is a first down play. This is the second down play.
Starting point is 00:32:12 This is our third down play. This is what, you know, X, Y, and Z. This is our Red zone play. This is our goal to go play. That's all on the wristband. There might be 150 plays on the wristband. And he'll tell you play 76. So you got to,
Starting point is 00:32:26 okay, 76, okay, okay. But I've never heard anything like this because they asked it with the wrong players of the wristband. He said, yeah, no. So I don't know what to make of this. And I don't want to make it seem like we're trying to make excuses for him. But I've never heard this before, Ojo. I really haven't.
Starting point is 00:32:47 I have it. And it's really somewhat of a red flag for something like that happened in the middle of a game. In the middle of a game. We as coaches, excuse me, I'm talking about we as coaches. But as players, I understand how well prepared we are going into a game. So how something like this can happen is beyond me. Especially at the NFL level?
Starting point is 00:33:11 At the NFL level? Preparation? Man, listen, there's one thing you would never be. be able to question about all 32 teams is the way they prepare in a week and preparing for an opponent. There are really no mistakes and no error because there's too many moving parts to it for it to happen. It's too many moving parts. I agree with you, Ocho. It might be a situation. I've never heard of this before and I don't know how it happened. We don't know why it happened. But if I'm Jimmy Haslam, I'm going to need some answers.
Starting point is 00:33:42 Yeah. I'm going to need some answers. I want to know how. For the first two drives, the wrong plays were on the sheet. And we had to take the wristbands and make some adjustment to it. I need to know why. I need to know why. If I'm Jimmy, I'm calling my friends. I don't know who he's really friendly with.
Starting point is 00:34:00 I'm going to ask the other owners. Have your coaches ever had a situation do you know about where they had to change the play band, the wristband? Because the plays that they gave the quarterback were the wrong plays and the plays that didn't want to call or something like that? Because I need to know why.
Starting point is 00:34:16 mistakes happen but not not not the egregiousness of this mistake no no not that they're kind of mistakes every January we're encouraged to start over but what if this year is about slowing down
Starting point is 00:34:34 and learning how to understand ourselves more deeply what if this year is about giving ourselves permission to feel what we've been holding and knowing that it's okay to ask for help I'm Mike Delarocha, host of Sacred Lessons. Starting point is 00:36:12 that is a skateboarding podcast that is part cultural record, part news brief, mostly group therapy, and a place to talk about the past, present, and future of women and gender expansive skateboarding. This week, me and my co-host, Nora Vaskinsellos and Alex White, we have Fabiana Delphino on the show, a professional skateboarder from Florida whose crit was forged in a family of athletes. Tune in to hear how she broke into the boys club, what it takes to be pro, and why just being grateful you're here shouldn't be the price of entry.
Starting point is 00:36:40 Maybe the industry thinks that we just started skating five years ago because that's when they maybe started paying attention. It's a no-fluff conversation about putting in the years, stacking clips and receipts and still having to prove your worth while the industry catches up. You break down the door, sick now like hold the door for everyone. We created good luck with that because we want to share our experience of existing in an industry that wasn't always built for everyone.
Starting point is 00:37:03 So listen to good luck with that on IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. D.K. Mekaff has been suspended two games without paid by the NFL for conduct detrimental to the NFL for initiating physical confrontation with a fan. According to the NFL release, DK.K. actions violate league policy that specifies player may not enter the stands or otherwise confront fans at any time on game day. And if a player makes unnecessary physical contact with a fan in any way that constitute unsportsmanlike conduct or presents crowd-controlled issues, and or with risk of injury, he will be held accountable. D.K. plans to appeal the suspension, according to Adam Schefter, Ocho. If the suspension stands, D.K. will forfeit $55,55, $556 in two games.
Starting point is 00:38:02 But here's the most important issue. If the suspension holds, he voids $40 million in future guaranteed money. Wait. Bring that. The gentleman that he confronted, Ryan Kennedy, the Detroit Lions fan, involved in the altercation, denied he used a wretious slur, misogynistic,
Starting point is 00:38:25 or hate-based language during the incident, according to the statement released by a Michigan law firm. According to Tom Pelliserro, D.K. had a history with this Lions fan. He confronted Sunday. Medcalf reported the same fans to Seahawks security last season while playing with Seattle. Also worth noting,
Starting point is 00:38:43 when D.K. joined the Steelers. He told a radio play-by-play broadcaster that he prefers to be called DeQuillan but goes by D.K., because it's easier to pronounce. I think I read somewhere. Now, I'm not sure, don't quote me on this and don't hold me. But I think he reported, he might have reported it to security, Steeler security.
Starting point is 00:39:04 I don't know. But this is what we know. What he reportedly, what he allegedly told you, what he allegedly told you, what he allegedly, reported, I think James Harrison, and with this gentleman, it does not. There has to be someone. There has to be someone that was in that vicinity that heard the back and forth between the two. There has to be. And obviously, there was audio that came out today, audio that's not clear, audio that does not state what was said or exchanged between those two. The audio that you do here is
Starting point is 00:39:39 the people that, for one, the people that are literally sitting next to holding the camera. Listen, he has no reason to lie. He has no reason to lie. And what I don't do, I do not condone putting your hands on the fan. I don't condone that. That's absolutely that. No matter what they say, you know, no matter what they say, you should not touch a fan. Now, going back and having a verbal altercation, now that's okay.
Starting point is 00:40:04 You know, a little trash talk back and forth. Ain't nothing wrong with that. But I don't condone putting your hands on a fan. But there's certain people that you can tell them how to react based on which you're what you say to them. I know, listen, it's freedom of speech. You can say what you want to say, but also with that, you can't control what people do if they choose to do something, depending on what you say. And that's what I say yesterday. I said yesterday, that NFL, some, they're going to come down now. Oh, yeah, I told us, oh, Joe, he gets suspended for a heavy,
Starting point is 00:40:37 heavy, heavy, I thought it had been a $50,000. Oh, no, it was never going to be $50. But, I mean, hey, listen, it's, it's, it's, ah, man, it, it's, it sucks. It sucks for the lions, for the lines, for their fans in general, just, just for this thing to even be on them for that, you know, for this, for this even, even happened. They have so many, so many good things going on or ready for them. For, for D.K., you know, D.K's been in, D.K.'s been in hot head, not really with the fans, but, but on, on the field in general. On the field, grab face, man, got unsports, like conduct, you know of these?
Starting point is 00:41:10 Yeah, so, I mean, for him. For him, I mean, it sucks as well. The whole 40 million guaranteed that being voided based on whatever it may be. I'm not sure how that even implies or is even part of the situation in general. So you would probably have to explain that for me a little bit more in depth how that would even affect this in general. Any suspension triggers a board of guarantee money. That's it. League suspension or team suspension.
Starting point is 00:41:41 That's, it triggers it. But the team itself would have to, they can, they can pull back from that if they want to. Okay, okay, okay. Okay, but he ain't got nothing to worry about that. He ain't got nothing worry about it. They wouldn't be nasty like that. They wouldn't be nasty like that. I don't know, man.
Starting point is 00:41:59 I don't know. Too many teams that's really, really, feel, get 40 million. But I agree with you. I agree. I totally agree. I just think the thing is that now players, you see what, and you have to be careful now. We're in a sue happy time.
Starting point is 00:42:15 Players, somebody says something that you deemed inappropriate. Go get NFL security and have that person removed. And the process of having that person removed, they're probably going to lose their tickets, those season tickets, they're probably going to lose those. And if who's ever seats they're in, they're going to lose those because they're responsible for whom ever sits in that seat. So that's because you see that with basketball now.
Starting point is 00:42:40 These guys ain't going back and forth. All that, you're talking about this. Hey, come here. Come here. Come here. Hey, but, Bon, I don't like, see, you're different. Well, you know, you know, I love the talk. I love, I love a healthy exchange of pleasantries.
Starting point is 00:42:54 You know, I don't know what it is with this era. But our era, I like going to play in Baltimore. I like going to play the Steelers. I like playing away. I like playing in chaotic, hostile environments. I enjoy the altercations back and throw. forth. I love the exchanges of pleasantries with fans who are not part of the Bengals. Like, I like that. That's fun for me. There's really nothing you can say that can give me angry because
Starting point is 00:43:21 before I get angry, I'm going to tell you ugly ass. I love you anyway. And we're going to keep going back and forth. We can go back and forth all goddamn game. So I don't understand what it is about players from this era in a sense where what fans say actually should, it shouldn't bother you. Like, have fun with it. Enjoy it. Bant to back and forth. No matter what they say. said they say something crazy. You say some crazy back. And just words. It's just words. That's the way I look at it. Now, everybody doesn't react the same. No, they could probably say something. They probably say something about your mom or your grandma that's not just words. Man, my mama
Starting point is 00:43:56 whoop your ass. See what you're talking about. So I think the thing, but here's the thing, Ocho. You see, you've got to be careful when you go back and forth. Because if you get the best of them, then all of a sudden, that trigger word. They start saying true. Okay. Because you got my girlfriend. I see. My grandfather you could always say, boy, he'd say, if you give the devil a ride long enough, eventually he's going to drive the car. Man, don't stop right now. Oh, whoa. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:44:18 Hold on. Hey, boy, hey, you think you stick. I got my pen right here. Now, you pull that one out of nowhere now. You put my kids and took my goddamn notebook, man. I'm going to put it in my notes. Hold on. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:44:31 Ooh. Hey, oh, boy, that was a good one, boy. God damn, that was a good one. Hold on. Bring that to me one more time. Yeah. You give the devil a ride. long enough, eventually he'll drive.
Starting point is 00:44:42 Oh, my God. Then what? You just have to be careful. Hey, um, oh, even when, even us, your old teammates and stuff, you got to be, you know, we're going back and forth. Eventually, somebody go, and you start getting the best, and then somebody start taking it personal.
Starting point is 00:45:05 And then they go, you know what? Don't even worry about it, bro. It ain't, hey, before, before, hey, before I say something or you say something, let's go ahead and end it. And that's how you, that's how you have, that's how you have to deal with it. Oh, look.
Starting point is 00:45:22 DeKalin, the Klan Metcalf. So, D.K. is just easier. Yeah. But, I think his mama call, probably called it, Bkele.
Starting point is 00:45:33 Look, I had, I said, I tweeted something about, uh, uh, as a matter of fact, he was playing the Steelers. And he had an opportunity to get out of the house.
Starting point is 00:45:43 He kept it up inside and clock went off and I was like, you know, D. And that situation is more important to get out of bound than you getting a few extra yards. And he didn't take kindly what I said. But when I sat down and had a conference and interviewed him and I said, what I was trying to do, D.K., I mean no harm by it, bro. But I was just saying you have to understand the situation.
Starting point is 00:46:04 There's a time and a place to get extra yards. And I felt in that situation, that wasn't a time nor the situation for you to get extra yards. The most important thing was time on the clock. And you burnt some time off the clock. And I felt in that moment, you were being selfish. Once I explained to him. And he's like, okay, I appreciate that dog. And, you know, we kind of stay in contact.
Starting point is 00:46:23 You know, he's like, whatever you think, X, Y, and Z things of that nature. But I think he's a great kid. And I think he's a great. I do. And sometimes when the motion is high, logic is low. But moving forward, all, I'm not talking to all NFL players. If a fan says something you deem is inappropriate, just call NFL security and get their ass removed.
Starting point is 00:46:44 I don't care if it's a child. I don't care if it's a child. woman, I don't care what it is. Get them removed. Or, fellow NFL players, get your roast game up, get to joke game up. Listen, go out there
Starting point is 00:46:57 and exchange pleasancies with these fans at away games. Have some fun with it. No, but that ain't, but Ocho, that's not everybody. That's not every, you and I are quick with it. You know, I'm, hey, boom, boom, I'm firing off. I'm disdoning.
Starting point is 00:47:13 You go to an agency, you. You got to be able to. Because you're enough into walking that student center with some bulljive on or looking at a man. And then you're going to get away with it. Yeah. So Jonin is, I'm an expert at Joni. Yeah. But everybody ain't like that.
Starting point is 00:47:31 Yeah. And everybody don't play like that. See, what is joke to you is death to someone else. So you have to be careful because everybody don't joke. Everybody, what you find funny, don't find it funny. So you have to, but you know, sometimes fan trolls and rage baiters or whatever they want to call them. They go to the game just to get that. In a situation, the mere fact that he has a law firm, you know, there's probably going to be a civil suit.
Starting point is 00:48:02 But hey, but you just, I just, if I could, if I could give D.K. Any advice or any player that could potentially find themselves in that situation, just have security and remove. I got it. I mean, all us, all us got that quick wit, though. that's just a part of us in general. Like, think about telling jokes. You got to be on your P's and Q's. Yes, but everybody, Ocho, that's just like,
Starting point is 00:48:26 everybody can't sing, everybody can't dance, everybody can't lead devotional service, everybody can't pray. Sometimes you have to, me, oh, what's after, that's what, if that's what we're going to do with you do. Come on. Now, oh, I keep the, I got a thousand jokes on me. I ain't used with 12 of them.
Starting point is 00:48:44 So I got 900, 884 to tear your ass up with it. So, but that's me. And I know what's going to happen. Because here's the thing, Ocho, this is what happened. If somebody getting on somebody, they don't get mad at the person roasting them. They get mad at the people laughing. Oh, what you're laughing at? Oh, it's funny.
Starting point is 00:49:01 No, now you're mad if you're not laughing. He didn't want to. Mm-hmm. But that's how it is. And so, look, fellow NFLers, moving forward, this is the way you handle that situation. The Seattle Seahawks ruined the return of 44-year-old Philip Rivers. Jason Myers kicked the franchise record six field goals, including one of 56 yards with 29 second left at the Seahawks outlasted,
Starting point is 00:49:38 44-year-old quarterback, Philip Rivers, and the coach 18, 16, without scoring a touchdown. Myers converted 24 of his last field goal attempts with his only miss, a 61-yard try on November 6th. and he leads the NFL with a career best 154 points. He also converted from 47, 52, 46, 32, and 30. The Seahawks needed every one of those points. Rivers, who hadn't thrown a pass in the NFL in a never five years, Seattle extended its winning streak to four games.
Starting point is 00:50:10 Indy Trail for just one little under two minutes, went ahead 13 to 3 on Rivers' first touchdown pass since the Colts. 27, 24 lost the Buffalo in the playoffs on Jayes. January the night of 24. Ocho, you know, they're talking about
Starting point is 00:50:25 that. You know what else recalibrates? Uh-huh. Medical insurance. He gets five more years. You know, when you got 11 kids.
Starting point is 00:50:39 So by this time, another four or five wouldn't be off the payroll, Ocho, be off. I'm just saying. Yeah, you're right.
Starting point is 00:50:46 No, but, but no, seriously, look, I thought he's playing, I thought Philip Rivers didn't play back
Starting point is 00:50:50 and sitting, Ocho, the man ain't really had no serious. He was 18 or 27, 127, 120. Nothing, nothing, you know, they were trying to push the ball down to field, Ocho. They couldn't hold up against that. But Jonathan Taylor ran the ball for 25 times for 87 yards. Amir Dula had four for 15. Seattle was in the red zone all day, but they couldn't punch the ball in zone. Give the indie defense credit for that. Jackson, Smith and Jigba, seven catches, a buck 13. He should be, what is he? What is he, like,
Starting point is 00:51:23 1,500 right now? I think there's an outside chance he, that performance that he had, I forget what he had. A couple of weeks ago where he had like three, it might have been Minnesota, where you, Ocho, you know, he had like 25 yards, and that kind of said him back,
Starting point is 00:51:40 but there's a, it's still an outside chance that he get to 1,800. Yeah, he got, he got to go crazy. He got to go down me, they got to continue to keep. He got 1541, Ocho. So he needs to, 259 in three games, which is about 80 yards a game.
Starting point is 00:51:57 He averaging that right now. He could definitely get that. Oh, as a matter of fact, he averaging over 100 yards a game. So he got 1531. They played 14 games. So yeah. Yeah, he definitely got a chance to get that. Because they put him in position to be able to get him the ball.
Starting point is 00:52:19 They have played specifically designed just to get him open. And he's so smooth with it. Oh, man. Yeah. That joke was smooth, man. Nice. He should be a unanimous first team all pro. You know, he should be a first team,
Starting point is 00:52:34 unanimous all pro. Obviously, Miles Garan should be a first team all pro. Yes. I'm trying to think who else. Oh, McBride, the tight end from Arizona. Oh, man. He nice. He cook it.
Starting point is 00:52:52 He's good. I'm going to catch the McBride guy from Arizona. He cooked. He had two more today, Ocho. Mm-hmm. Bride is the real deal. He got a hundred and five catches. Ocho, he got a hundred and five catches right now.
Starting point is 00:53:10 He leading the league? Have we ever had a tight end lead to league in catches? I don't think so, Ocho. I don't think Zach Ertz made the league when he had it. I don't think Witten, when he had a, I think Ernst got the record. He's going to get that record. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:53:35 I'm still, I'm still, and catch is a touchdowns? Did it? Wow. Grong did. How many Grom have? Okay.
Starting point is 00:53:49 Yeah, I still can't believe Phillip Rivers at 44 was able to come out there and he looked, you can play a position that doesn't require athleticism.
Starting point is 00:53:57 You're not playing that at a corner, you're not playing that at receiver, you're not playing that in safety, you're not playing that in running back, you're not playing that in tidy yet. The only corner of it. The charges beat the Chiefs and eliminated them from the playoffs, but that was not the worst news. Patrick Mahomes suffered season-ended, torn ACL in his left knee in the closing minutes.
Starting point is 00:54:24 Mahomes underwent an MRI after the game, and it was confirmed. He and the Chiefs are now exploring surgical options, according to the team. Patrick Mahomes tweeted, don't know why this had to happen, and I'm not going to lie, it hurts. But all we can do now is trust God and attack every single day, and over and over again. Thank you, Chief's Kingdom, for always supporting me for everyone who's reached out and sent prayers. I'll be back stronger than ever.
Starting point is 00:54:53 You know it's weird, if I'm not mistaken, after winning three Super Bowls, Tom Brady tore his knee in his ninth season. After winning three Super Bowls, Patrick Holmes also tears his knee in its ninth season. It's unfortunate, but understanding players like this as great as they are, he's going to be able to come back stronger. There are changes, obviously, that need to be made within their organizations as well. A lot of changes, a lot of changes.
Starting point is 00:55:21 A lot of changes. And I think they stuck with this roster far too long. I think they stuck with this roster far too long, Ocho. Far too long. Right. So I'm not sure. Obviously, when you look at it from top to bottom, I'm not sure where you start, especially for them.
Starting point is 00:55:40 I think the offensive line. You got to start with an offensive line, Ocho. You need a running back. Yeah. You need a running back, Ocho. Ocho, 21 carries for 49 yards. Yeah. Isaiah Pacheco had 11 carries for 21 yards.
Starting point is 00:55:55 Kareem Hunt had six carry for 12 yards. Breschard Smith had two cares for one yard. Mahomes had two for 15 with a long of 12. You got to start with a running back. You got to go get a running back. Far too long, look. And see, what happens is that when you have success, with a hodgepodge and not having a, you think, no, no, you can't.
Starting point is 00:56:16 You can't. They need to read, they need D-line that can go get the quarterback, though they did a pretty good job today. Yeah. The coverage people, their safeties, they're not good. I mean, they give up a touchdown with, they give up a touchdown right before the half, Ocho. I'm like, nothing cheap, nothing deep.
Starting point is 00:56:37 Yep, you can't, you can't do that. You can't do that. When Mahomes hadn't been seeing the field, he's gotten Rashid Rice blown up like three times in two weeks. Hey, that slant. You can't stare that slant down as much as you want to. He stared at it down. And, Rashid, you better come flat. You take your ass up the field if you want to.
Starting point is 00:57:00 And I say, Jefferson's, okay. I guess, I bet you don't have to tell him again, Ocho. What you want to bet? That's also on the quarterback, on. Because if you give the goddamn safety a beeline by catching the ball or the ball being, the ball snapping in your hands. And the first thing you do is you look at him right away. I mean, he's reading that.
Starting point is 00:57:22 Safety not even backpilling. He ain't going nowhere. That's why it's a bang, bang play. If you keep your eyes right there and force that safety, at least shuffle, maybe three steps. It gives that receiver time to catch and protect itself. But if you don't, if you get the ball and you look right at him right away, well, hell, ain't no threat. I'm going straight. I'm going straight to
Starting point is 00:57:40 And he led him on the shallow I mean he got him blasted last week on like a shallow He got him blasted again I mean He's not look He's still Patrick Mahomes He has an impressive resume
Starting point is 00:57:56 But based on the last couple of years He's not the best quarterback He has the most impressive resume Because I don't I don't I don't let your resume Like oh no matter what happens no I'm not so sure I'm not so sure.
Starting point is 00:58:12 That guy up in Buffalo isn't the best quarterback currently going. Yeah. Well, I mean, I think we can throw Drake May in that conversation, too. All I know is he was out of 21-0-0 to Drake May's team in Drake May's building. And he went five straight possessions with touchdowns. Touchdowns. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:30 I think even though with today's loss, that doesn't take away from the resume Drake. Oh, no, no, no, no. But I didn't think I didn't think Drake was the end up. Matthew Stafford is the MVP. Matthew, yeah, that's not. Don't count out 17 up in Buffalo. He's playing his ass off. No.
Starting point is 00:58:49 Yeah, absolutely. And you know what else? I wouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't, I wouldn't be surprised if this is Buffalo's year. Well, look, I wouldn't be surprised. You got, you got your trip tonight out of the way. Somebody already did your favor. Oh, look.
Starting point is 00:59:04 Three of them, almost out of the way. You don't have to deal with Pat Mahones. I'm not sure with the Ravens. going to do, you know. I mean, no disrespect to them. You might not have to deal with Lamar. And Joe and company, they out of dough. Look, I'm going to tell you this.
Starting point is 00:59:19 If Buffalo don't get there this year based on what? I'm Sean McDermain ain't going to be back. It ain't going to get any easier. Yeah. This is their year. No Burroughs. No Mahomes and possibly no Lamar. Now, he's beating Lamar in the postseason.
Starting point is 00:59:38 Yes. Damn. Damn. Damn. It'll be the first time the chiefs will miss the Pope. postseason since 2014. In 2014, we talked about it, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:59:57 We talked about changes that they need to make. They need a running back. They need to redo the offensive line. They got to get some receivers. Look, Juju is sure. More? Ocho, come on, man. I mean,
Starting point is 01:00:15 Rashid might be a number one for that team. Right. But when we look at number ones, we look at number ones that they can go to a lot of different teams and be number ones. Chase's going anywhere and be number one. Pooka Nakua going anywhere, he'll be number one.
Starting point is 01:00:32 Jetta. I'm looking at guys like they need a guy, Ocho, not guys, and I get it. Because what happens, Ocho, if you have success, think about it, they lost Cheetah. They go to three Super Bowls, they win two. Well, we don't need a number one. We don't need a running back.
Starting point is 01:00:48 We don't need a Jemir Gibbs. We don't need a cook. We don't need a Sequa. We don't need a day. Jerry Henry. Ocho, you can't, 49 yards, you're not going to win, Ocho. With that offensive line,
Starting point is 01:00:59 it puts so much pressure on your quarterback. Patrick Mahomes had to run all year long for his life. Yep. I mean, Ocho, think about this here, Ocho. You remember, like, when the Chief were in the absolute best, you could not go to Arrowhead
Starting point is 01:01:17 and score, if you didn't score 30 points when you were at the Arrowhead, you couldn't beat the Chiefs. You're losing, yeah. You lose. They scored 10 last month. week on the road to get 13 this week at home. And it's been dropping precipitously. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:01:32 I mean, you got to understand. Other teams are getting better. Other teams are used to some of the things that you like to do. They understand and know your tendencies now. They understand your weaknesses, especially up front, you know, being able to get my homes off the spot. Some of the trick plays, some of the fun stuff, some of the entertaining stuff, and the creativity that coach has been able to call for that team, they're not able to
Starting point is 01:01:55 to do it right now. You can't do it now, do it right now. Some of the fun they were having, the creativity, Andy Reed had, you know, with calling plays, you can't do it. One of my favorite plays ever I saw when they came out the huddle and they did the merry-go-round. I'm like, what the hell? And it worked. Ocho, Chris Jones played a game, a complete game, and didn't register a stat. makes $31 million. He's the highest paid defensive tackling football. He didn't register a stat.
Starting point is 01:02:31 He lines up off sides. They see him offside. They call timeout. He come out to time out, and he lines up offsides again. The safety is all very good. Corners are just so-so. Even Trent McDuffie has taken a step back this year, Ocho. You watched him.
Starting point is 01:03:00 I don't know if him not getting, him not getting that contract extension, maybe that was playing on his head. He ain't the same. Follow the Chief's elimination from the NFL playoffs will not include Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Patrick Mahomes for the first time since 1998.
Starting point is 01:03:30 Damn. Hey, don't boy, hey, greatness. Even greatness has a setback. Chris Jones had no clue today was an elimination game for the Chief until reporters told him press post-game presser.
Starting point is 01:03:45 We still have a fighting chance. Oh, we're out of the playoffs? Yep. Y'all done. Tony Jefferson was ejected from the Chiefs game after Helmut de Helmand hit on Tyquan Thornton. Many questioned the ejection on social media. Ocho, do you think it was the right call?
Starting point is 01:04:05 Hey, hey, you don't, that's, they're handicapped defenders so much. They've handicapped players on defense so much. We don't know what's the right call or what's not. This is still the game of football. at the end of the day. It's still the game. It's a barbaric sport.
Starting point is 01:04:20 It's a dangerous sport, huh? It just is. And there's no way to protect players offensively when defenders only have one thing to do. There's only, you can't change the way you tackle. You can't change the speed of the game. I mean, there's nothing you can do. So, I mean, defenders, they hand the tie behind the back.
Starting point is 01:04:42 What do you want them to do? It's like almost you have to come up, play two, hand touch. Your job as a defender is to dislodge the ball from the player. Separate man from ball. That's a job. That's a job. It always has been.
Starting point is 01:05:00 There's nothing they can do. They've handicapped the game already so much for defenders where a lot of catches, a lot of touchdowns are happening because players are becoming gun-shy, not willing to take those hits. You're right. I don't want to get, I don't want to get fine. They're taking bad angles. They're going low, hitting players in their knees, causing injuries.
Starting point is 01:05:26 You know, it's just, I don't know what to do. I don't know what to say. Jefferson was booed heavily as he left the field and apparently made an obscene gesture towards the Chiefs fans. After the game, he apologized, Jefferson. I apologize for that. I'm classes in that. I was just caught up in the moment.
Starting point is 01:05:45 I won't sit here and act like I'm a perfect man. I messed up when I did that. I have kids at home. and there are kids out there watching the game too. So I apologize. They probably got it on television. I don't know. But if they did, I apologize to Chiefs fans, my kids and all the kids around.
Starting point is 01:06:00 We just had T.J. on the show. And, bro, hey, hats off. We talk about this all the time, bro, with emotions, the high logic is low. You admitted you made a mistake. The NFL's probably going to find you, but you owned up to it. It didn't take you a whole lot of time.
Starting point is 01:06:17 And you didn't lie and say I didn't do it. anything or did you say, look, bro, my emotions got the best of me. I apologize to the Chiefs fans. I apologize to all the kids around the world that watch me because I'm classier than that and I hold myself to a higher standard than that. But my emotions got the best of me. And for that, I'm sorry. Ocho, what a game, what a game.
Starting point is 01:06:42 Tyler Luke misses a 44-yard field go wide right and a brutal miss for it from a rookie. Aaron Rogers and the Steelers win the AFC North and they get to host a game next Monday night. As a matter of fact, they get to take on the Houston. Texans, which should be a barn burner of a ball game. The Houston, Texas, finished great down the stretch, and they finished today. They won today. They beat the Indianapolis Colts. But tonight, Lamar Jackson came back after last week, taking last week off.
Starting point is 01:07:09 He was 11 of 18. He only threw 18 passes. 238 yards. Three touchdowns, one in aception. He was sacked three times. Derek Henry ran the ball extremely well tonight, 20 carries. A buck 26. They just steal a.
Starting point is 01:07:24 just dominated time of possession, Ocho. Aaron Rogers was 31 or 47, 294, one touchdown, no interception, clean game. They ran the ball 24 times for 100 yards. Ocho, when somebody goes back to throw the ball that many times and they're not as mobile as Aaron is, and you only get him two times,
Starting point is 01:07:45 that lets you know you need some rushers. Yeah. The Steelers play. Both teams play great. Ravens got up to a great start. 10-0-0. if you look at the Steelers, they were nine of 16. Think about Ocho, you don't normally have 16 opportunities
Starting point is 01:08:00 for third down. No. 16? That's a lot. And then you pick up nine of them. Because eight of them is 50%. So you're probably around 55%. You let somebody pick up 55% of first,
Starting point is 01:08:16 third down, you're going to probably get your ass beat. You probably lose more than what you did. But a missed field goal. I mean, I wasn't surprised that he missed it. That's a rookie kicker, Ocho. I mean, a rookie kicker in that situation, and you have one job, you hear me? You have one job.
Starting point is 01:08:35 I don't care about the situation. Preseason, regular season, implications to be able to go to the playoffs, you have one job. When you go to practice, they do one thing since training camp. They kick the ball. That's it. Let me ask you question. How many times their practice they kick for a chance to go to the play? playoffs.
Starting point is 01:08:55 You block the noise out. You block the noise out. It doesn't matter what you're going for. How many times you think John Harbaugh told him this is a kick to go and take us to the playoffs? Now, we practice, we practice. Do we not practice two minutes? Do we practice no huddle? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:11 Okay, we down three. We down seven. How many times you think John Harbaugh told him this is a kick to get us into the playoffs? How many times you think you think? he'd been under that kind of pressure? Probably never. Probably never. Probably never.
Starting point is 01:09:36 Hey, that's a whole lot, boy, that's a whole lot riding on your leg. Absolutely. That's a different, hey, listen to me, that's a different kind of pressure on. Now, the guy, the guy that they, that he replaced in his rookie season, all he did is go kick the Ravens to the AFC championship game. And you see, you see the importance of having a kick. But you're talking about there's a chance, regardless, he's probably, he's arguing one of two or three greatest kickers to ever, especially clutch big game.
Starting point is 01:10:01 How many big game kicks have we seen him make? A 66 yarder in Detroit to win the game. Playoff games, all these implications. We've seen him time and time again. Now last year he struggled. I obviously had some things going on, but, you know, we saw him struggle. This situation here, and I'm looking at the game, I'm like, damn, Ravens, man, look, y'all got the momentum, man.
Starting point is 01:10:22 Y'all need to get some separation. And I kept like, man, get a little separation. get a little separation. They never could get the separation they need. The next thing you know is 10-3 and then it's 10-10 and then it's... I was like, damn. I said, boy, you're playing with fire. Because we talk about it all the time, Ocho.
Starting point is 01:10:41 When you have momentum, you better get some separation because they're going to get it. As much as you can. Yeah. Listen, the pendulum always shifts in a football game. You know, the pendulum always shifts in any sport, no matter what you play at some point. But like you say, you want to get as much of a lead as you can while you had the momentum. But it's difficult, huh? That's why it looked the way it looked tonight.
Starting point is 01:11:03 It's difficult. And it comes down to what it did tonight where the game is decided on the kicker's leg. And most of the time, you hope you have a clutch kicker, a good kicker who doesn't allow certain situations to bother them, where he can still complete the task under those kind of conditions. That's why Adam Mediterranean is going to the Hall of. Fame. You talk about clutch. How about making a game winning field goal in the snow?
Starting point is 01:11:30 How about making a kick in the Super Bowl Ocho twice? Yeah. With no time on the clock. Can you get more clutch than that? Can you get more pressure than that? That's why Adam Venetary is going to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Yeah, he played a number of years and longevity, but that's not why. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:11:52 You won't find two, you won't find two better. kickers under the gun under immense pressure than Adam Venetary. Minutary, yeah. Everybody remember that divisional game of the playoffs against the Raiders into snow are driving 45, almost 50-yard kick, he nails it in overtime to win the Super Bowl. Super Bowl. And then guess what, Ocho? Two years later, come back against the Carolina Panthers and did it again.
Starting point is 01:12:22 Again. Mm-hmm. He was clutch now. No doubt about it. Chad, y'all may be y'all help me. Where did the Ravens look? I understand. The yet the defense is bad.
Starting point is 01:12:33 And I know John Harbaugh, it's tough, Ocho. When you have a friend and you don't really want to fire somebody, but he probably didn't think he had anybody on the staff that could fill in and do any better than what Zach Orr was doing. That's why he left him in that role. With that being said, this defense isn't good. It's not. Let's be real.
Starting point is 01:12:56 Chat, y'all know it. It's not good. Hold on. They got no past rushers. The guys in courage aren't good. Roquan is okay, but Roquan is not Roquan from three, four years ago. He's not.
Starting point is 01:13:08 Hold on. I got a question. I know, I know you say the defense is bad, right? Yes. But when you look at the third level on the Ravens, are they really that bad? Are they really that bad if they got a couple of people
Starting point is 01:13:23 for 30 seconds. I mean, if you got to cover somebody for 30 seconds, hell, everybody else would look bad too if you weren't getting any pressure on the goddamn quarterback. Well, now I called a question. If you know you can't get pressure, why would you put your corners in a one-on-one situation with like a bomb blitz there?
Starting point is 01:13:48 If you can't stop the run, you ain't got no choice. It wasn't like they were running the football, Ocho. It's the thing is that you realize, like, okay, if I got a Rob Peter to pay Paul, I don't need to be going out there getting luxury items. I need to pay the day to day. I need to pay the mortgage. I need to pay the light bill.
Starting point is 01:14:06 I need to pay the gas bill, the phone bill. I need to play necessities. So with that being said, I know I can't get home. Do I really want to sacrifice a back end? That's not very good to begin with. Am I really trying to put them on an island? Because if I don't get there in,
Starting point is 01:14:25 that's why you need a guy that can win one-on-one, Ocho. You need a guy that can win instantly. You see how Miles Gere? You see that Joe Burrell late? No, he didn't. Look at the get-off that Miles Gary got. If he'd have been running track, he'd fall started. Because you can't go under point one.
Starting point is 01:14:45 He went point zero-two-three. Let that sink in. So when Joe was saying, he was gone. He didn't get the tough. Yeah. The Ravens, Ocho, they need, look, they need defensive linemen, but I'm not so sure they can use a couple of corners too, Ocho. They do.
Starting point is 01:15:05 Nah, I don't, listen, honestly, I like, I like Wiggins. They just drafted him. He's played decent. Of course, he's gotten beat. Well, I think we all get beat part of playing the position. I agree. Yeah, you are going to get beat, but most of the time you want someone that can be clutch in certain moments and that can win
Starting point is 01:15:25 the majority of one-on-one battles. And if you're elite, follow the number one receiver on other teams. I mean, that's what I say. That's reserved for Sartan. That's reserved for Stingley. That's reserved for who else we got, Ocho,
Starting point is 01:15:40 Gonzalez. That's reserved for those guys. A.J. Terrell is reserved for guys like that. Mitchell. and Phelian Mitchell Yes, that's reserved for those guys
Starting point is 01:15:57 He don't need to follow anybody He probably need to be on the third The second or the third receiver while you're bull-jiving That's not nice on I understand what you're saying But young bull, young boy has potential Young boy has potential
Starting point is 01:16:09 Outside of that They need a premier A premier rush on They do. They're very bad They need a premier rush I don't care if you play on the left Or you play on the right
Starting point is 01:16:18 We got to get you in the building Yeah They got to get somebody I agree. I agree. They need a rusher, preferably two. But if you can get a true number one rusher and a solid number two Russia that can win, I mean, they had Jadabian clown. I mean, look, he's a guy.
Starting point is 01:16:43 If you let him get 20 snaps a game, he can generate pressure. If you let him get 20 snaps a game. Now, he's not a never-down player anymore. But he still can generate, he can still generate pressure. if you minimize the snaps. Offensively, they're going to probably need to get some linemen. You're going to probably need to get a guard, two guards. They are.
Starting point is 01:17:05 They just are. I mean, I wish it was something I could, I mean, I wish I could dress it up for you, but chat, y'all know I'm not lying. I mean, you would like to have more than, since you like for Lamar, you'd like to have more than 45 plays. I mean, you score 24 points with 45 plays. Lamar was 11 of 18. You ran the ball 27 times for a buck 37.
Starting point is 01:17:32 That's what, five yards, five yards of carry. You can live with that. Yeah, absolutely. You can live with five yards of carry. Listen, Lamar was efficient when he had the ball, even if they didn't have it a lot. He was efficient with the ball.
Starting point is 01:17:48 And we talked about, you know, thinking, you know what we should do? Hell, I never forget what you said, you thought they'd be their best option was the start. to Huntley if Lamar wasn't healthy. Man, the hell you say, shit. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 01:18:01 I still, I still wish Lamar could. Lamar did everything he could to make sure he won this game tonight. He did. He did. He did. I wish Lamar could have put more pressure on him with his legs, Ocho. He can't. He couldn't.
Starting point is 01:18:14 You know, let me tell you something. You know how I know he not the same? On that third down where he couldn't get out the way. Yeah. You saw that guy catching? On the third down. Well, you saw it when they ran the quarterback draw. He was wrong.
Starting point is 01:18:25 I said, Will Lamar Jackson look like he got a piano on his back. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's tipping. Matter of fact, you know, he's tipping. He's not even extending himself. His gate is closed. He's not even opening up. He's moving, but he ain't moving, if that makes sense. Yes, he is.
Starting point is 01:18:43 To the Steelers side, Aaron Rogers, 31 and 47, 294. They ran the ball 24 times, basically a little over four yards of carry. Gamewell had a big catch. Calvin Austin with the sluggo. Feeling had a big catch. Vada Scanlon had some big catchers. Look, Friamuth had a big catch to set them up, get them down to like the five-yard line.
Starting point is 01:19:13 They played well. You know the Steelers was going to play well. Cam Hayward. I thought Cam Hayward had a well-of-a-ball game. I thought the D. Lyman played really really well. I thought there were some Lane that had the backside been able to get cut off, that Derek Henry could have hit those and maybe popped it.
Starting point is 01:19:31 Instead of getting two, three yards, he probably could have got 10, 12 yards. But I credit the Steelers. They did a great job of disengaging and getting to the ball carrier. Give those guys credit for that. I thought the Steelers D-Line played extremely well. And you're like, well, how do you say they play well? They gave up 120, 126 to Derek Henry. But that could have easily been against Green Bay.
Starting point is 01:19:58 That 120 was 180. That was a different. Cam Hayward played extremely, extremely well. I love the way I look. He might not run fast. But from point A to point B, which is from end to end, he gets there. I was very impressed. I mean, Harry is in year, what's the year?
Starting point is 01:20:23 Year 14? this year 14 he was in that he was in that 2012 draft with cam and von Miller and all those guys Justin Houston Richard Sherman all those guys that the greatest draft that's the greatest draft
Starting point is 01:20:37 that is the greatest the greatest if you look at the players in that draft you did a you know Julio was in that draft right AJ Green was in that draft right Pat Peterson was in that draft right yeah I got Cam Hayward
Starting point is 01:20:53 Cam Jordan, all of them was in that draft, Coach. Hey, the greatest draft is 2001 on. What? The greatest draft is in 2001. I just want to throw that out there. Y'all ain't even close. Y'all might not be better than 90.
Starting point is 01:21:12 With me, Emma, say I'll rest his soul. Ted's rest his soul, y'all might not be better than us. Listen, can you hear me? when Chad Javon Johnson was drafted into the NFL That was the greatest draft Oh Joe, you only one person Who else was in your draft class? Michael Vick
Starting point is 01:21:34 Okay, who else? I can't remember the rest of the NFL Von Miller, Pat Peterson, A.J. Green, Julio Jones, Tyron Smith, Cam Jordan, Cam Hayward, Richard Sherman, Justin Houston,
Starting point is 01:21:51 pull up that night put out of 2011 draft. It ain't even close. Ain't nobody close to that draft. When you go back and look at the players in that draft in that first round, oh, Cho, just the first round. Right, right, right, right. I think Sherman was, what, second, third, fourth?
Starting point is 01:22:08 When you look at that draft on show, that is the greatest. Hey, what Sherman? You told Richard Sherman? Sherman was fifth round, yes. What, what? He was fifth round? Oh, JJ Watt was in that draft. Okay.
Starting point is 01:22:24 Hey, hey, they're some nice boys now. Hey, everybody who named is nice, but Ocho was drafted in 2001. I would draft it in 2001. The greatest entertainer of all time was drafted in 2001. That's me. Yeah. That's me. But you only one player.
Starting point is 01:22:42 You got to have 20-7 mothers. I know, I know, but it's one player that is more entertaining and fun than everybody you just named. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. give the Steelers credit. They get an extra day. This is not an accident. That they put the team that played the last game on Monday night to give them a rest. They didn't want to cheat them.
