Jerry Jones chose the opening training camp by taking a shot at Michael Parsons. Ocho, let's take a listen to what Jerry had to say.
Just because we signed him doesn't mean we're gonna have him. He was hurt six games last year.
Seriously. We've signed, I remember signing a player for the highest paid at the
position in the league and he got knocked out two thirds of the year.
Dak Prescott.
So there's a lot of things you can think about when you just as the
player does when you're thinking about committing and guaranteeing money.
He just can't help himself.
Dallas Cowboys fans, Dallas Cowboy players.
This is your head coach.
This is your, excuse me.
Hey, I'm talking about your head coach.
He's the head coach.
Hey, this is the man that, he is the head coach.
This is the man that runs the show.
This is the man that lets you know in short term
how they really feel about you. It's the big. After all that man to show. This is the man. This lets you know in short term how they really feel about you. For sure. It's a big... After all that man is doing. This is how they
really feel about you. There's nothing like getting, taking a dig or taking a shot at your
two star players. Your two star players, oh well, I made made one the highest paid, but he missed it.
Missed a season because of injury.
We play football.
It's a contact sport.
It's a barbaric sport.
Sometimes injuries do happen.
I remember he made another quarterback the highest paid
and he never took a shot at him and he stayed injured.
But that ain't none of my business.
I don't even know why I brought that up, Ocho.
This is who you have to go out there and play for. This is who you have to go out there and play for.
This is who you have to go out there and play for.
I wanna know, was Tony Romo-
That is how your owner thinks about you.
Yeah, but we know that.
See, the thing is, oh, see.
I remember in 2016 when Colin Nipton,
oh, but Jerry loves his players.
Jerry loves people that look like you and I that can do something for him.
Don't you fool yourself?
So the mistake that people make, oh, Jerry, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Michael Irvin could do things for him.
Des Bryant can do things for him.
Emmett Smith could do things for him.
Charles Haley can do things for him.
Nate Newton, Larry Allen. I could go on and on and on.
Stop fooling yourself.
Oh, out of the kindness of your heart.
Okay.
Okay.
I have a question.
And this is for the chat, for the people in the chat as well.
If you played for the Cowboys organization organization how would you feel as a player understanding that's
how the man who runs the show and writes your checks felt about you.
I already know how I feel about me.
I've done my homework.
How does that even give you the motivation even want to go out there and play for that
man outside of the money.
That's all I'm doing.
See he what he has upset he's upset at Dak because Dak has always
husband posed it.
Dak has always been what it was.
You're the owner, I'm the player.
A lot of players get close to Jerry.
Dak has never allowed that to happen.
Todd France comes in, does the negotiating,
hard line, boom, I'm up out of here.
Dak goes about his business.
Dak ain't trying to go to his house.
Dak is not trying to go out, hang out with him.
Dak is Dak.
Dak does what he does.
Dak now has a family.
Boom.
Strictly business.
You see, he taking a shot at Michael because Michael would
have let him would let him glaze him.
Oh, oh, it's between me and the player.
You never did a deal with just the player
when the player had representation.
But you know what it's going to cost you
because you let Max Crosby get a new deal.
You let Miles Garrett get a new deal.
You let TJ White get a big new deal.
And guess what?
Michael Parsons is three to four years younger
in all of them.
So guess what he's about to do?
Poll voter.
So whatever TJ White got,
Michael Parsons is gonna get a million to $2 million more.
And don't give me that junk I play in Texas.
Oh well, I know there ain't no state income tax.
And I'm glad for that.
So that's 42, 43 million. Uncle Sam's gonna go get 36% of it.
No state taxes.
Right.
And I'm understanding, obviously I wanted to text Micah,
I wanted to call him, but I was like, you know what?
I'm not even gonna bother him.
Just ask, how you feel?
How does that make you feel?
And I'm just thinking about-
Like crap, that is just my own thing.
My own thing's about me.
Now what about the time when he missed some games,
but I guarantee you there's some games
that he should have missed more.
Because I know Michael has some issues going on,
but that ain't none of my business.
I don't even know why I brought that up again.
Damn, I keep telling people business.
You know how many times all of us
have played the game of football
and went out there anyway?
Yeah!
Had to take toward all pills, had to take toward all shots, just to find up and play
for the same.
Zala Kane, Mark Kane, yeah, court of own, yes, all that.
Shooting up in your shoulders and in your knees.
Well, I didn't shoot my knees up.
I shot my ankles up, shot my shoulders up, ribs.
Did all that, Ocho.
Did all that.
I mean, how do we not understand or just have any self-awareness
where that's the kind of stuff that you say to yourself
but you never say out loud
about the players that are on your team?
You don't say stuff like that out loud.
Had the nerves deadening my ankles, so I couldn't feel no pain.
The whole, that's what nerves do.
They allow you to feel pain and say,
okay, hey bro, back off that.
I had my nerves dead, had my nerves in my ankles dead,
so I couldn't feel pain.
So I could go out there and play.
And then to have somebody talk like that,
man, please, I'd have lost it.
I'd have lost it.
Hey, you know what's funny is when you think about the owners,
obviously it's 32 owners.
I think Jerry is the only one with the cojones to come out and say how he
really feels. No one else would do that.
Would you, would you, what you saw today?
Nobody else would do that.
Why wouldn't it? But Jerry, Jerry, but see, that's what Jerry wanted to be about him.
See, Jerry don't want no superstar Jerry, Jerry, but see, that's what Jerry wanted to be about him.
See, Jerry don't want no superstar
because you know why he want a superstar?
Because he would never take a Tom Brady.
He would never, he couldn't play for Peyton Manning
because they'd be bigger than he is
and he don't want that to happen.
Right.
I've been very fortunate.
I played for two owners, Mr. Bowling.
I did something for his family today.
Yes, sir.
But Ocho, it was about us.
We were the superstars.
He was telling me all the time, Sharpie,
I ain't catching no passes.
Sharpie, I ain't making no tackles.
Why the hell I need to be up there and talking
and carrying on?
That's what I pay you guys for.
I say, you play us quite well.
I don't get why Jerry felt to open up training camp like this.
I don't know.
Everything that comes up doesn't need to come out.
Right.
But Micah.
What you thinking doesn't need to be said.
Every little thought, especially stuff that you know is going to ruffle people's feathers,
catch media headlines.
Hell, the only thing that should be catching headlines today is cowboys opening up training
camp and George Pickens looks motherfucking good.
Excuse my language.
Sorry.
George Pickens look good.
Day one. That's it. That
would actually, that should be the conversation. Not what you said about that and what you
said about Michael. Man, come on.
JJ Watt took to Twitter, excuse me, X to defend him. Anytime you can publicly take a dig at
your star quarterback and your young star pass rusher simultaneously right before the season begins you got to just take it nothing makes guys want
to fight for you more than hearing how upset you are that they got hurt while
fighting for you. Micah reposted that. No discount for you Jerry.
Wait hold on what if what if what if if, what if, what if he didn't, excuse me.
What if he even goes worse?
What if Michael says, you know,
that that's how you feel about me?
Trade me.
Why don't you trade me? Yeah.
Then what?
Then what?
And the funny thing is,
I'm just finding out all about Jerry's ways
because I never played for the Cowboys.
And obviously when I was playing,
you know, I'm blind to what's going on over there.
But Unc, you don't want to introduce me
and told me about the whole thing with Jimmy Johnson.
Yeah.
So that raised my eyebrows, but I thought, okay,
maybe that's just, okay, maybe that's just a one-off.
Maybe they just had a disagreement
and he's not really like that, but they got into it.
He thought after three years, he thought after,
he hired 89 with Jimmy's first year.
That's the year he took over.
He brought the, I think, Bumbright.
I think that's where he brought the Cowboys from.
So he took over him and Jimmy in 89
because Troy was their first draft pick.
They won the championship in 92, won it again in 93, it again in 95. So in four years, so 89, because Troy was their first draft pick. They won the championship in 92,
won it again in 93, it again in 95.
So in four years, so 89, 90, 91, 92.

We go behind the scenes
and explore the stories of those involved.
San Diego coming to MLS is gonna be a game changer
because this region has been hungry
for a men's professional soccer team.
We need veteran players and we need young players.
Like you're building a team from scratch
and so the succession plan of long-term success
needs to be defined.
We need to embrace this community.
When I was 13, my uncle took me to a qualifier and we watched Paraguay against Chile pouring rain.
Just watching the fans jumping up and down, I think that was definitely a watershed moment for me.
Not only was that going to be my game, but it was going to be my life.

So in the fourth year, he thought he knew more football than Jimmy.
Now see, Jimmy, see what Jimmy could do.
Jimmy was coming from college at the U.
So all these guys that's coming out, guess who knew him? Because he tried to recruit college at the U. So all these guys that's coming out, guess who knew him?
Because he tried to recruit them at the U.
Yeah.
See, Jerry think because somebody handed him
a piece of paper that they've done all the work for.
See Jerry's that guy that does no part of the project,
but he gets an A.
You ain't do nothing.
You just happen to own the team.
You did nothing.
Jimmy, the scouts, the evaluators, they did all the work. It burned him. It burned him that
Jimmy got the credit. Everybody gave Jimmy the Toasty.
That's a tough spot to be in for a play up.
It has to be just to hear that
from your owner has to be a tough
spot to be in.
You know, he's running it.
It's supposed to be a football team.
It's supposed to be an organization,
but you're running it like I'm not
going to say the P word.
You run it like the P word. Oh, Joe, as long as finna say the P word, you're running it like the P word.
Ocho, as long as-
You saw Django?
Yes.
You saw Django?
Yes.
Okay, okay, you see where I'm going, yeah?
Okay, you're running it like that.
You don't say that about the players that you paying.
You don't complain, oh, I made the quarterback the highest thing because
you fucking waited to pay him. You waited to the last minute. You waited to the last
minute. You would got Michael Parsons on the fifth year option. So you waited to the last
minute. And he said it. And I used to say this all the time. I am not going to give
you, I would give you a discount if you signed me with a couple of years left because now
you giving me guaranteed money. I'm not giving you a discount if you signed me with a couple of years left because now you giving me guaranteed money
I'm not giving you a discount if you make me get to the punctuation
The end no, bro. I got to get maximum dollar out of you max value. But see here's the thing on Joe. I
Know who Jerry is and as long as they know who Jerry is they should never have a problem with it
He applauds what you do, not who you are.
It's transactional to him. You can provide a service, a damn good one.
He gonna pat you on the back. But if you think it's anything more than that, you're sadly mistaken.
Sadly mistaken.
mistaken, sadly mistaken.
And it's, man, that's, that's, I ain't never heard nothing like that.
Now I know a lot of them think like that.
One thing they think, but they actually say it out loud.
Bro, listen, see a lot of times people want to, they'll take what he says about them, but I listen to what he says about everything else
and how he handles everything else.
That told me a lot.
Yeah.
Oh, your toes are gonna be on the line,
your hands gonna be over the heart.
Okay?
Oh, oh, oh, doing that, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, I see where we're going with this.
Yeah.
I see what you're, I see how you think. Yeah. I mean, listen, it's unfortunate. Okay, I see where we going with this. Yeah. I see how you think.
Yeah.
I mean, listen, it's unfortunate.
It be you, be you.
I hate to try, like I said, I know Michael Little.
I like him a lot.
Great personality, I know he's representative.
But I'm gonna be very, very disappointed
if y'all don't rake Jerry ass across the coals.
If y'all don't get at least 42, $43 million. If y'all don't rake Jerry ass across the coals, if y'all don't get at least 42, $43 million,
if y'all don't get 10 million,
if y'all don't get 5 million more than what T.J. Watt got,
T.J. got three years, 143 million,
he got 108 guaranteed.
With one year, oh, man, y'all better get you on 115 million.
Guaranteed, fully guaranteed.
As a matter of fact, Jerry, since you've been nasty, I want a hundred of it in signing. I want a hundred of it in signing.
As soon as I sign the dotted line, I'm not even shaking hands.
I'm not even shaking hands. I'm happy to be a cowboy, but I'm more happy
that I get to secure my family. This is generational wealth. My family, my dad, my brother, hey, we good now.
That's crazy.
He really said that out loud. Yeah.
But that's, Ocho, don't you like that? Don't you? Let me know why I stand with you.
But that's, Ocho, don't you like that? Don't you, let me know where I stand with you.
See, so far too many times, far too many times,
I just need to know.
See, that's the difference between the South and the North.
And the South, you know they don't like you, they tell you.
Yeah.
I don't like you, bub.
As opposed to hiding.
Right.
Yeah, that's crazy. I can't tell y'all what he think. as opposed to hiding. Right. Yeah.
I tell y'all what do you think?
Michael actually reported to training camp today
despite the contract standoff.
Should Michael, no, should Michael trust Jerry Jones
enough to report to camp?
Yeah, I'm gonna report to camp.
I'm gonna report to camp.
I don't wanna get no money back.
I don't want to get no money back. I don't want to, but I just
cause they've tried to, that's another thing, Ocho. See, see what they put in there.
Now, hey, there's no forgiveness.
Though it doubles. I mean, what did it start at 15,000, 30,000?
You missed 10, you missed 10, 15 days of practice. That's over a million dollars
that the team can't forgive.
Yeah.
But now that you know, you go in there,
you know, you play the game.
Hey, I'm playing for the number on the back of my jersey.
I'm playing for the number, the name on the back of my jersey,
F that name on the front.
Cause that's what you said to me.
Yeah, basically.
Basically, in not so many words.
Yeah, that's crazy.
So, hey, go do what you do, Micah.
I hope Micah.
I hope Micah get 25 sacks.
And the 40 million you gonna pay us 50 now.
50 million.
Micah, hopefully you get a contract extension.
What's Micah playing?
What's his 50th year option?
21. what?
Because he's outside, he's the angel here, DN. 24 minutes. Micah, all you do is that you pay your monthly expenses. Don't you buy nothing. Don't you buy a car. Don't
you, hey, tell your mom and dad, hey, look here.
There'll be no expenses going on.
I'm going to pay my rent.
I'm going to pay X, Y, and Z. I'm just going to pay monthly expenses.
I'm going to sit tight because of this, you know what?
Try to franchise me?
Yeah.
I'm not coming.
I'm not signing no franchise tag.
I'm not signing no franchise tag.
I'm not signing a franchise tag.
Not gonna do it. And you think you would play with him?
Yeah.
You do realize, here's the thing, Ocho,
you didn't do it to me now,
so you've made me run the gauntlet two years in a row.
Where I, oh no. Bro, I got to hit you over the head with a heavy
hammer. Yes, absolutely. Yes, the price goes up 10% every year
that you don't get this done. So right now it's 42 million. You
don't pay me this year. Guess what? It's a 10% increase 46
million and plus another 10% on the guaranteed money.
I don't, I don't, does he purposely,
what is the method?
You did it with CD Lam, you did it with Dak,
you did it with DQ Elliott, what's the purpose of
what you did to the last minute?
He's thinking they're going to give him a discount.
I'm not giving you a discount
when you making me run till the last year of the contract.
Oh Joe, I'm not.
See, he thought that would give him a discount
like Wentz and Golf gave their team discounts.
But those teams, they were first and second overall pick.
They got huge, their total contract was guaranteed.
They got 45 million, they got huge, their total contract was guaranteed. They got 35 million, they got 32
million fully guaranteed. I don't know what that, that was the fourth round pick, so I don't really
know what those numbers are. Then three years into the deal, they give a new contract. That is what
they did with that. So, Ocho, I've already gotten 32, 33 billion dollars guaranteed,
So, Ocho, I've already gotten 32, 33 billion dollars a guarantee, plus you come to me early.
Okay, I'll give you a little discount.
I'll help you, I'll help you sell a recap.
Right, understandable.
I'm not giving you a discount
when I'm that low of a draft pick my first contract.
Now, first one, I'm trying to split your dome.
Oh yes, absolutely.
Now, I might give you one, the second one,
but that's my choosing.
No, you say, oh, you know, you tell me that's, you know,
football business and let football people do football
things, well, I'm gonna let y'all handle that salary cap.
So my job is not to try to help y'all manage
y'all salary cap.
I'm trying to extract because I care just about as much as winning as you do.
Jerry Jones has shown you over the last 30 years,
he doesn't care about winning.
So guess what?
Me either.
You care about making money?
So do I.
Hey!
What's up, boy?
What's up?
That was the Pro Bowl tight end, Kyle Pitt.
Kyle, how you doing, bro?
I'm doing good, how you doing?
It's Ocho and Joe, Iso Joe, joining us tonight, man.
Okay, appreciate y'all having me on here.
How y'all doing?
We're motivated.
Most definitely.
I'm gonna get right into it.
Michael Pinnix Jr., unprompted,
not from the reporters, not by anybody encouraging.
The first thing out of his mouth,
hey man, y'all saw KP?
There gonna be a lot more of that today.
What happened today for people that weren't at camp,
that didn't get an opportunity to see,
what has Michael Pinnis Jr. so excited
that he started off his press conference
mentioning Kyle Pitts?
Obviously it's day one, it's first day camp,
you know, the emotions is high.
We had a pretty good day as an offense,
just juggling and moving the ball down the field
and you know, it's a tight end.
It's always great to be a safety blanket
for these quarterbacks to be somebody he relies on.
So for him to have that confidence in me is amazing.
Go ahead, Ocho.
No, I was gonna say, I hope Zach Robinson, right?
That is officer coordinator, yes?
Yes, sir.
Yeah, listen, I'm hoping Zach Robinson
can get back to putting you,
well, obviously I don't think he was there,
he was there your rookie year,
but get you back to doing what you do best.
Understanding what you did at Florida
that you can still do in NFL.
There are so many mismatches that you can create based on what you can do and
your unique skill set. When we talk about the tight ends in NFL, top five, you were
supposed to be in that conversation based on what you could do. After rookie season,
you had a thousand yards. Obviously due to injury, there have been some minor setbacks,
but this is a year for you to get back to what you're known for. And that's being a stellar playmaker regardless of what's around
you, regards to who's in front of you. And I'm hoping brother Robinson does
everything he can to put you back in position to make the plays that I know
you can make because not only is gonna help you and build your confidence, but
it's gonna make brother Michael Penning Jr. Also his confidence and be that
quarterback number one that the Falcons
have been in search of since Mike Ryan's been gone. Sure. Sure. How difficult is it? You have
the outstanding rookie year, as Ocho mentioned, over a thousand yards. There hadn't been very
many tight ends to come in as a rookie and get a thousand yards. Now you get that so the expectations
are through the roof because you know
you're a draft pick and you come out like gangbusters and then injuries then quarterback turnover.
How difficult is it to stay positive when your quarterback there's a quarterback carousel
and the injuries start them out? I mean obviously everybody has a different path and I think mine's pretty unique.
Just obviously it'd be in my fifth year
and it'd be in my fifth quarterback.
But I've learned something from everyone,
from Matt to Marcus to Desmond to Taylor, from Kirk.
I mean, everybody brings something special to the table
and just to learn a lot.
And now this be my first year of having someone
from the previous year as a quarterback
and growing the continuity over the summer
Working out together get those routes in it's amazing to see it and you know just to go to a relationship with him
Just to you know work working this time during camp or on the way to game one
Hey, what's up brush go ahead? This is Joe man. What's up?
man chillin chillin chillin uh Go ahead, Joe. It's Joe, man. What's up, Big Duller? How you doing? Man, chilling, chilling, chilling, chilling.
Man, what's your expectations on the Falcons
this year on the season, this upcoming season?
First, I won't go as far as expectations
because we taking it in, we're about progression.
Just first, a healthy camp.
Right.
Get out of this healthy and then getting ready for week one
and just trying to stack as many wins as we can
because obviously Atlanta's a hard fan base it's a city
that is very passionate about their sports for sure and just to be able to
we want to get back to you know having Mercedes been rocking which we have
there but you know we have some different things up some bumps in the
road but we're coming together and we all bought in a second year system so now you know we got the opportunity to take it to the
next step right okay hey you go ahead don't you I want to say would it be in
a second your second year in this system how comfortable are you with the
offense we don't have to think anymore you can hear the play call you go out
there and you can just line up based on what that means in front of me you can just go
without having to think.
Yeah, very confident.
And like I said, it's year two.
We've been working in the summer,
just mentally and physically.
So it's just, you know, so now we here in camp,
we're not taking a step back.
We just, now we're just going against the defense
and there'll be pads on next week and, you know,
going into showing practice and, you know,
into the preseason.
So things like that is big for us.
Kyle, having played the position that you played,
and I don't know if people understand this,
but when you injured, you are a move tight end.
Line you up outside the numbers, they'll put you in motion.
They'll put you in the slot.
You'll line up top.
They'll put you in the backfield.
But when you're injured, it's hard.
Man, I just wanna get, hey,
I just wanna get somewhere and just go.
All this bad, I can't, cause I can't do it.
And it's, and you know, you know what, like,
my body just, it's not giving me what I want.
But because the fans have seen what you're capable of,
they don't understand that body.
The mind is willing,
but the body just ain't able right now.
Yeah, I mean, obviously, everyone goes through injuries.
Some people don't, but in my specification,
having the knee and just different with small dings,
it's just a testament of what's gonna happen this year.
And I'm excited for what's gonna happen
and how we're growing as an offense
and how we're gonna take that next step.
So we got some games, usually we just going to start week one with Tampa.
Divisional game, man, go out there and try and get first win and just keep building
them and hopefully win our division and then taking it step by step from there.
I have one question.
How much, I don't want to call it, I don't want to say power, but
most of the time it's called power to me.
When a player can go to an officer coordinator, can go to a head
coach and ask to do more, are you healthy enough?
Where is your body back in a state where you can ask coach Robinson, listen, I
need you to put me in different positions to be able to make plays.
Because if you, you put me out here at receiver, it's a mismatch.
You know, if you put me in motion, you know, it's a mismatch is your body is
a knee at a point now where you can do a multitude of things offensively
to open up the play and also for you?
100%.
And just mentally being able to play faster.
Because that's a big thing.
When you hear the plays, be able to break the huddle and play fast.
So definitely, you know, being the best asset to this offense is the goal.
Because there's a bunch of playmakers on this offense.
You know, Drake, Bijon, Mooney, Ray Ray.
I mean, everybody can, you know, we can spread everybody offense from Drake, Bijan, Mooney, Ray Ray.
I mean, everybody can, we can spread everybody out
and then you go nickel and then we running it.
We got Tyler, so we got the one, two punches
and just being able to definitely take that load for sure.
I like it.
Did you hear, because of the injury,
because of some lack of production,
there was rumor swirling,
possibly Kyle Pitts might be on the move.
How did you stay in the moment?
How did you, like, I'm here right now,
if and when that were to arise that I'm somewhere else,
I'll deal with that then.
But how did you stay present in the moment?
Because people say, oh, I don't think, it's hard.
Boy, you talking about me.
You know, unless there's another Kyle Pitts I don't know about, but in the meantime, you talking about me. You know, unless there's another CalPits I don't know about.
But in the meantime, you talking about me, I'm CalPits.
And I hear all of this going on.
How are you able to stay focused, stay present,
and says, you know what, if it happens, it happens.
But in the meantime, I'm here.
I mean, I'm very much deep in my faith.
So I know what God has planned for me.
But most important is like, you know,
those people have a job and fans are fans for a reason.
They can't do what we do.
So they don't really know me.
You know, I know the player I am,
and I know the bumps and the bruises
and the different things we've had to go through
in these past couple of years,
but it's, you know, everybody has their time.
And, you know, I feel like my moment's coming.
Oh, yeah.
Hey, Karrion.
Go ahead, Joe, y'all.
Y'all.
Go ahead, Joe.
Y'all open up here in Atlanta against Tampa?
Yes, sir.
Man, I got to come check out.
Hey, Joe, let me go to the game with you, Joe.
Not bad.
Say less.
Say less.
Oh, what's up?
What you trying to do?
Joe.
All right, all right, all right.
We just get back to it.
You can't come to the game with us?
That's crazy.
He busy, he busy, he busy.
Can't commit to that just early.
Can't commit to that just early.
Hey Kyle, I'll be there man.
I'm worried about it.
Hey Joe, I'll be there.
Week one, week one.
We in Atlanta, man.
Y'all heard that.
I'll make sure y'all good.
Y'all in the house.
Y'all good.
Everything set up.
Come on.
Man, I heard that thing be rocking though, KP.
I ain't gonna lie to you now, PN.
But I heard it be rocking, the food be banging.
I mean, and they got this, you get, what is it?
A hot dog, I don't need no glizzies though.
I gotta come up with something else.
But you get a pretzel, a big large soda, fries,
and all the food is like, we accept alcohol,
it's like all you could eat, like a certain price.
We got one of the best owners in the business.
Mr. Blank is great.
Oh yeah, Mr. Blank, yes, yes, absolutely.
He's a great man.
And he makes food for everybody.
And you know, it's a great time.
It's only one way to, you know, taste for yourself.
You gotta come see it.
You know, so I'm like, yeah, we had to get him to the bed.
We gotta get him to the bed.
Hey, hey, hey, let me ask you this though.
Does preseason count?
Can I come to a preseason game?
Nah, nah.
Nah, you don't even like sitting there with me.
Hey, hey.
Hey Kyle, I got a question, right?
Do you understand the seriousness, which I've just learned?
And this is long after I'm done playing.
You understand the seriousness between the Falcons
and the Saints rivalry? At first, I didn't really, if I'm done playing. You understand the seriousness between the Falcons and the Saints rivalry?
At first, I didn't really, if I'm being honest.
You didn't even see me do.
At first I did, and I didn't really understand that,
the hatred.
It's not like a dislike, it's a hatred.
Yeah.
And it's like, that's kind of like George vs Florida.
That game, it don't matter if you dinged up,
you find a way to get on that field.
You know, that's a rivalry game. matter if you dinged up, you find a way to get on that field. You know, that's the that's a robbery game.
It's going to be down to the last, you know,
and thanks to the great team.
And I feel like, you know, each year is a fight.
Yeah, to be able to go down in Caesars Dome is loud, too.
You know, especially when we come into town.
So it's like, you know, vice versa when they come up here and they're all fan-based, travels heavy,
and it's a very competitive game.
Yeah.
Kyle, let me ask you this.
When you look at it, where you started,
and now you see all these guys,
they got to make brides that come in,
and they got the Hockensons, and they got the Laportas,
and they got all these guys, and don't seemingly,
whoa, whoa, what happened to, what happened to, They got the Hawkinsons and they got the Laportas and they got all these guys and don't seemingly that,
whoa, whoa, whoa, what happened to, what happened to,
y'all ain't talking about me no more.
Y'all know I've been that boy, I've been him.
I just been Nick Duh.
So y'all just go look over me?
That's okay.
Look, that's all right.
That's all right.
You know what?
It's not too many people who have perfect careers.
You know, so when I get back on the mat,
other things are doing,
then I gotta do what I need to do first though.
Yeah, it is.
Right.
You said today that you're not paying attention
to any outside noise.
I don't read that rap poison.
I don't get on Twitter and I don't listen to the bots
who can't come out here in 90 degree weather
and come and do what I do.
Expand on the rap poison,
cause that was coach Saban's one of his favorite sayings.
That's the rap part.
You get a little praise or you get some negativity
and it festers.
It'll kill you.
Yeah, even though I didn't go to Alabama,
that was something that just watching him
and I had a couple of buddies go to Alabama,
that was something that they would say that he's big on.
So I never really, like I said, I don't read it
because they can't come out there
in the heat of the moment
and hear a play call and game on the line,
people screaming, you can't hear the snap count
and go out there and perform.
So it's like, I don't really value that at all.
And you guys know those athletes,
they're on the sidelines for a reason.
They just, you know, they're invested
because they betting now.
You know, so it's like, we know what it is
to go out there, run across that middle fourth quarter,
catch that ball and move the stick. Right, right. The reports, now I don't know what it is to go out there run across that middle for quarter catch the ball move stick, right?
right
The reports now, I don't know if this is true
But this was being reported that be you're being used use they see you more with the receiver group than with the tight end group
Like you said I can't do what you do piss no more I can't come, I ain't there. Like you said, I can't do what you do, Pierce, no more.
I can't come out there at 90 degrees.
Not even with an umbrella and some Gatorade.
I can't be out there in that heat.
Me and heat don't get along anymore.
Not no more, not no more.
But you had your day when it was your day.
You had your tour days, you know.
Left me alone, won't have those no more.
Won't have those no more.
But yeah,'s going to be
it's a plan uh following behind coach Morrison you know what Raheem and you know of course uh
Z Rob has definitely put together for me for this camp and just entering this year. It's big on just
you know like I said buying in and you know trusting what they have and you know it's it's
I would say hybrid. Won't say specific position.
Definitely want to be hybrid.
The more you can do it, the better you are.
I love it.
I love it.
Listen, I'm predicting.
I can do this.
You ain't got to say nothing.
I'm predicting 1,300 NADs.
I'm telling you what it's going to look like this year. So what's the prize?
We'll talk about it after we're done with it.
Yeah, yeah, we'll talk about it after we're done with it.
Stop, just call me, I got you.
Hey, Pizz, I'm gonna put you on the spot.
I'm gonna put you on the spot.
Give me your top five tight ends of all time.
You study position, you play the position.
Hey, keep it a stack, keep it a stack.
If I ain't in the top five, I'm cool with that.
I'm cool.
Like you said, I'd have my time.
There was a time I was in the top five,
if I'm not now, but I was.
Well, 100%.
No, I never get into specific numbers
because everybody be like, oh, you missing this person.
It's really just who you kind of model your game after.
So like my five in no specific order would be definitely you
Tony G. Mike Dick who was a start before I would say Jason Wayne is a someone who I feel like
in high school when I really started to learn about the tight end position and you know he
wasn't maybe like the fastest but he knew how to beat you mentally. So, cause I learned that from a guy named Lee Smith,
who, you know, he may be older,
but they're beached to the spot.
But, yeah, Tony G, you, Mike Decker, Jason,
and I'm gonna have to go give Travis his followers.
He the best doing it right now.
He the best doing it.
It was between him and him and George,
the one they, like one they wouldn't be running.
They definitely setting the person in
for how to play the position and how to win
at that position.
So I was definitely, you know,
loved watching them on film.
Yeah, watching you play, you kind of remind me of myself,
the speed guy, we did a lot of our damage outside
and in the slot.
I ain't really trying to bang like that,
but I had to block a little bit more than you had.
I had to block.
But I think Gates, you move move Gates wasn't that fast. Yeah, and Gates knew how to get open his catch touchdown
I'm like how this mofo get any touchdowns like this
And that's what I'm saying like, you know me putting the wind in my top five
I really had Gatesy in my top five cuz that's who really you know him in LA when he's playing with
You know, him in LA when he's playing with, you know, Dane Thompson.
So that was the one I really was watching
when I was getting into watching, you know,
different tight ends.
That was like, man, how they score all these touchdowns?
How?
This man got 117, 118 touchdowns for a tight end.
That's unheard of.
Y'all gonna have to get on the ball.
Cause that break is gonna be that long time
if somebody don't get on the ball, Pitz.
I'm sorry.
You don't think nobody gonna get that on
the way they throwing that ball now?
Titans don't score like that, man.
That joke is staying with double digit Titans.
Seven Kings is an anomaly, I feel like.
Yes!
You had you some games in the red zone where you was hot.
You had you some straighter games where you 10 plus,
for sure.
But here's the thing, think about he had LT.
I mean, he went to three, LT went three years.
LT had 69 touchdowns in three years.
Do you, so they, yes.
And so for a tight end, there've only been two tight ends
that have over 100 TDs in a career.
That's a gonzo engaged.
So in a hundred plus year history,
105, 106 year history,
there are only two tight ends
to put up those kind of numbers.
And Les Hawkinson and LaPorte and McBride and Kittle,
you get pissed, you get on the ball.
Man, it's hard to score down there.
Cause like you said, he could, he could score.
I could never, I was a guy that get yards.
You know, I lead the game with 150, 160 yards
with no touchdowns.
That joker have like 88 yards with three touchdowns.
Right, right, you have to go that way.
Yeah, you got, you got to think,
you got to remember Antonio Gay's skillset too now.
They get down to that goal line,
they get him out there wide.
Yeah.
That basketball background coming to play.
Man, listen, his lateral movement,
he move in short areas,
his releases is like a damn receiver.
Yeah.
And how long, what was his career length?
How long did he play, y'all?
I think he played 16.
I think he got 16 or 17, Pitts.
I think he got 16.
Yeah, I think it was 16
because my coach Tim Brewster,
he used to show me all his tape when I was coming out.
Yeah, yeah.
I think Brewster was in Denver too.
Mm-hmm, yep.
Okay, yeah.
100%. Was Wade Harmon there when you got there? Who was your
position coach when you first got there? His name was Justin Peele. Okay. Justin Peele?
Mm hmm. That name sound familiar. I think he played. Yeah, he played here in Atlanta.
Okay. Okay. Okay. Yeah. I thought that name sound familiar. You're a hundred percent healthy. You're raring to go.
Ocho tried to put some numbers on you.
What is health the precursor?
Cause I know you look, I don't want to put you on the spot
and say, okay, give us a stat total
where you say a hundred and 1200 yards and this.
Health is the precursor.
And then everything else will fall into place after that.
Is that how you approaching it?
Not at all.
Well, you know, once I got back to, you know, last year
and then this off season feeling great,
that's the last thing on my mind.
Now it's just, like I say, playing fast mentally, physically,
being able to get to my spot and, you know,
being the best asset.
Check out Behind the Flow,
a podcast documentary series following the launch
of San Diego Football Club.
We go behind the scenes and explore the stories of those involved.
San Diego coming to MLS is going to be a game changer
because this region has been hungry for a men's professional soccer team.
We need veteran players and we need young players.
Like, you're building a team from scratch,
and so the succession plan of long-term success needs to be defined.
We need to embrace this community.
When I was 13, my uncle took me to a qualifier
and we watched Paraguay against Chile, pouring rain,
just watching the fans jumping up and down.
I think that was definitely a watershed moment for me.
Not only was that going to be my game, but it was going to be my life.

When I do get my opportunities in first, you know,
first, second down, third down,
ball come my way,
we moving the chain.
We getting yanked.
That's the big thing, yank and you know,
putting that shoulder down, get across that goal line,
get the, move the chains, you know,
be more valuable for this offense.
Yeah, yeah.
Unc you heard that, rise up.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Let's go.
Hey Unc, yes.
It's an experience in that thing, man.
You gotta go check them Falcons out, baby.
Yeah, so week one, we there in Tampa,
and then we in Atlanta.
Do you understand how hard it is, Joe?
Like when you trying to evaluate like what we do,
we gonna have to talk about the game.
So how we gonna talk about the game
that we don't watch on television
if we at the Falcons game?
You got a phone, use the phone.
You got Twitter.
NFL Rizzo, you can put all the games on your phone.
Bro, see that's the thing though, see.
So how you watching the Falcons game
if you looking at your phone?
We can just look at the tidbits.
Look at the tidbits.
We're back bro.
I see where I'm coming from.
I see where he coming from.
Nah, nah, he just trying to get out of going
to the game with us.
What he doing?
He gonna sneak in on one of these games. One of these games.
Maybe a primetime game.
I'm gonna have to call Mr. Blank.
I'm gonna have to go through the private tunnel,
the secret tunnel.
Oh yeah, they gonna take good care of me.
We'll make it work.
I'm pretty sure he'll accommodate you.
Kyle, man, thanks for joining us, man.
We appreciate it.
Stay healthy.
This is the year you gotta stay healthy
because you know what this is, this your fifth year.
You know what the fifth year means,
what comes after the fifth year.
Woo!
They pay it.
Hey, Kittle got 19 million.
Hello.
Hey, you could be the first $20 million guy.
Shit, make it 22.
Hello, I like that, I like that.
Hey, I'm just. I like that.
I'm just saying, the first guy,
the first with a two in front of it for a tight end,
more than I made in my whole career.
Damn, I might have to go back out there, Joe.
Hey, keep your head down, keep working baby.
Chopping wood, let's go.
Yes sir, brick by brick, baby.
And congratulations, man.
Continue success, stay healthy, man.
And come back and join us. After that first, man, and come back and join us.
After that first 200 yard game, come back and join us
and talk to us, tell us about it.
I got you, I'm gonna hold you to that.
All right, bet.
All right.
Y'all pissed.
Appreciate y'all.
Guys, just when you thought Cam and RC Beef was dead,
Gilly the Kid, hold my beer.
Let's take a listen to what Gilly had to say in response to Cam,
criticism of Jalen Hurts. your feelings. They shut your tight jean wearing ass up man. You had on a jersey with a bow
tie you corny ass. Get out of here. You will never be able to with jail and hurt you super
goofy corny ass. Get out of here. You what you do you want MVP won a Super Bowl and a
Super Bowl MVP and you hate morning cuz he did what you could do
with a Super Bowl
Anything to two of them
So when you hate know him just know you weren't better than him
You tell her can you name one of my albums you ain't got to be able to name one of my albums
Wrong with you you in my space.
You ain't bigger than me in this space.
You a low ass boy in this space.
You low ass boy.
I could come sign you.
Damn.
Damn.
Hey.
Anybody ever met Gilly besides me? Anybody ever met Gilly besides me?
Anybody ever met Gilly besides me?
Yeah, I met him.
And I know Gilly, we done played basketball together.
He got that energy all the time.
All the time.
Yeah, he took that personal.
Let me ask you, what y'all think about this, Ocho?
Let me ask, what y'all think about Gilly?
Cam, we saw RC.C.'s response to Cam.
We saw Gilly's response to Cam.
And we've already, Joe, you weren't here.
What's your response?
I'm gonna start with you first, Joe.
Joe, what's your take on Gilly's response to Cam?
I just thought it was too personal of a shot
because we can talk trash back and forth.
You know, it could be a good sparring session,
but I just think when he get personal, bro,
I think it kind of draws a line.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Like, so I don't know if he took it personal
when Cam said something about him dropping an album.
And I think it just kind of no-holds-barred.
He just went berserk after that.
Yeah.
What'd you think, Ocho?
Listen, you got to understand in that culture, you already know what time it is, you know?
The eye meets the eye. You say the wrong thing, I'ma say the wrong thing. You say the right thing, I'ma say the right thing.
Respect is earned, it's not given. Therefore, when you take shots, you have to be, you expect the other individual.
Some coming back.
Some is coming back. That's the space that we
live in. Cam, he not going back down. Gilly, we've known Gilly for a very
long time. What he does, he's not going back down. You say something, he
gonna say something back. You say something to Cam, he gonna say something
back. Ryan, I'm sure probably at some point, he's gonna respond. I'm
assuming so, or maybe not, because I'm assuming Ryan and Cam will probably have to see each other at some point on ESPN, but still, that's just
one topic. It won't cause any feud in the work environment. Other than that, listen,
it's entertainment at the end of the day. Nothing will probably happen outside of those
mics and in that space of podcasting. So I think, listen, it's a good jabbing war. It's
like it's a good jabbing war. May the best man win in that situation.
Yeah. I agree. I agree with both of you guys. I hate when it gets personal. You know, I
hate when Cam, you know, Cam was a quarterback. Obviously his influence is going to be different
than any other player on the field.
Regardless where round was drafted, regardless of how many Pro Bowls, there's not any quarterback
that's worth anything that's going to have more value basically than anybody else.
Cam was an MVP.
Cam wasn't a multiple time Pro Bowl player.
Yeah, Cam won the Heisman.
His accolades speak for themselves.
We don't need to go off to list them.
And for me, if Cam had just stuck like,
look, this is what I'm saying.
It's hard for me to evaluate Jalen Hurts
when he has so much talent around.
I'm not saying that he's not talented,
but it's easier for me to evaluate someone
when they don't have as much talent,
when they don't just have to turn around
and hand the ball off and have Saquon hit his head
on the goal post from 80.
Or he has these two receivers that's pro bowl receivers
or an offensive line that's as good
as that's ever been assembled.
Right.
Keep Ryan's accolades out of it.
Ryan, keep Cam whether he did or did not
jump on that football.
Okay, we know that.
We know Cam didn't jump on the football.
And he said it.
If he could go back and do anything different
in his playing career,
that's the one thing that he would have done.
So if we want to evaluate a player, evaluate the player, say, all right, this is why, this
is why everybody's not going to like your opinion.
Right.
Because if you try, you can try to appease everybody, Ocho.
Yeah.
And the one person that's going to be very disappointed
and upset is you.
Because when you try to please everybody,
the only person that's hurting and disappointed is you.
Yeah, you can't please everybody.
You can't.
Or should you attempt to?
No, hell no.
Gilly, look, Gilly my guy, I love Gilly.
I love Wallo. I talk to them brothers
and they good people, really are.
Gilly take things like to the Eagles, like, and I've been in a very similar situation
one time before, and it's probably one of the times that I regret something that, you know, you, you, somebody says something about a team or a player that you like
and then you take it personal. You take personal shots at them. And then,
you know, you have to realize, okay, that man's entitled to his opinion.
Right. That's his opinion.
Just because you feel passionate about this as a pro and he feels passionate
about this as a pro,
and he feels passionate about this as a negative, it doesn't make you more right than him.
It doesn't make him more right than you.
That's his opinion.
I agree with you, Joe.
I think when, when Kev like, well, hey bro,
I can't name not one of your albums.
I think that's why all gloves went off for Gilly.
Gilly like, well, bro, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
That's why he said, you not bigger than me in this.
Right, right.
And that's when it started to get real personal,
you could tell.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
I hate that.
But we know it's gonna be some back and forth, man.
Jalen Hurst is a very polarizing figure
Because it's not like you know every other year. I mean think about it. We had
Doug Williams. Yeah, I think we had a big low
So we got 87 and then we had to go all the way to 2012
Before we got another so we had to go Almost three decades to 2012 before we got another. So we had to go almost three decades
before we got another black to win the Super Bowl
at the quarterback.
And then we got Mahomes and now we got Jalen Hurts.
So it's not like it's just littered.
And so now it's like, you know,
and I think maybe RC and maybe Gillie feel like, man,
they'd be unfairly criticized.
Cause, excuse me, when Tom won his first U-Bow,
they applauded him.
And he threw for a buck 42. Yeah.
But we trying to find ways, but that's, I mean,
when you're an analyst,
when your job is to critique and analyze,
the only thing I will say about this,
and this is what I always, never went to journalism school.
I didn't go to Syracuse, I didn't go to Missouri,
I didn't go to any one of these fancy journalism schools.
This is what I do know.
Never become part of the story.
You see now, Cam, Ryan are part of the Jalen Hurst story.
This should be about Jalen Hurst.
Yeah.
But they've become a part of the story.
You stay away from the story.
You talk about it, you critique, you analyze,
but you don't become a part of it.
But the critiquing and the analyzation
is why they're part of the jail and her story
No, you can do that. But see now we're not talking about them. We're talking about what?
Cam and RC going back and forth. Oh, yeah, I mean give it a kid going back and forth, right? I
Mean, okay
They don't squash that that ain't that ain't nothing. That's all that's all talk. They don't squash it
It's not going anywhere outside of the space
in which we're doing right now.
And that's the heart of that.
