Ocho, the Chiefs have continued their undefeated start to the season with a 26-13 victory at home over the New Orleans Saints. The Chiefs improved continued their undefeated start to the season with a 26-13 victory at home
Starting point is 00:06:05 over the New Orleans Saints. The Chiefs improved to 5-0. Mahone Boy threw for 331 yards. 130 of them went to Juju Smith-Schuster. Kareem Hunt ran for 102 yards in his first game in Arrowhead since rejoining the team. Derek Carr left the game in the fourth quarter after suffering an oblique injury. He was replaced by Jake Hayner. Jake Hayner. Ocho, you watched this game 26-30. Yeah, I did. What did you like about what you saw from the Chiefs? And what do you think they need to improve on to keep this streak alive and possibly three?
Starting point is 00:06:39 Hey, listen. Speaking of improvement, I thought they weren't going to play bad because Patrick Mahomes always finds a way, and we have a quarterback like that. He always finds a way to make it happen. But you have no Pacheco. Kareem Hunt comes in. You have no Rasheed Rice and Juju Smith and Xavier Worthy, and obviously they still have Travis Kelsey.
Starting point is 00:06:58 And Hollywood Brown is out from the start of the season, but go ahead. Oh, yeah. So I'm thinking, okay, maybe things are going to start a little slow. Maybe things are going to start a little slow. He's going to try to figure out ways to manipulate the offense, and they're going to scheme people open to give them the ball. And, hell, they look better than they did last week. This is the best I've seen them look, Ojo.
Starting point is 00:07:18 Exactly. This is the best I've seen them look. So the fact that you were 4-0, you're missing key pieces to your offense, and you look better than you did when you had those two key pieces that were missing is beyond me. On the opposite end, the Saints, it all comes down to decision-making when you're playing a team like the Chiefs. Derek Carr, throwing the intercept, just throwing the ball up in the air
Starting point is 00:07:40 like that for grabs? No. What are we doing? What are we doing? Then I sent a tweet out. I said, it all comes down. Derek Carr, settle down. Let the game come to you.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Run the ball. And then pick and choose when to take your shots. I swear, as soon as I press send, maybe about the next offensive series, they got the ball. What did they do? Run, dink and dunk, run, dink and dunk. Rasheed, Rasheed, Rasheed Shaheed on the Dino route, the post corner post, touchdown. That's all.
Starting point is 00:08:17 I'm not saying that's all you have to do. It's much more difficult than that. But Derek Carr, his decision making, it kind of hurt him a little bit. The all out blitz, the all bit. The all-out blitz. The all-out blitz. The zero blitz. I can't remember the receiver's name. He was wearing 84. He has to make that catch.
Starting point is 00:08:35 For the Chiefs? For the Saints. All-out zero blitz. You got to make that catch for your quarterback. You got to make that catch for your quarterback. You got to make that catch for your quarterback. Other than that, man, listen, the Chiefs look good. They're going into the bye week 5-0.
Starting point is 00:08:52 And I'm thinking at some point they were going to have a slump because they're missing some key pieces, you know, to their offense. Listen, it's unbelievable. And I'll say it again. When you have a quarterback like that anything is possible it's like plug in next man up same thing when Brady was with the Patriots
Starting point is 00:09:12 players get hurt a different piece of that puzzle always change consistently but for some reason because of quarterback because of the person they have at the helm it doesn't matter who's out there he's going to make it happen andrick mahomes is doing the same exact same exact damn thing well as long as if you play spades as long as you got the big joker you know
Starting point is 00:09:34 you got one book got a home brady those are big jokers you know you got a chance yeah it ain't no hoping they're gonna to give and they breathe confidence into your entire team because you know like we just do our job. He's going to make it work. They have an outstanding defense gave up 13 points. They've only given up what 29 points in five games. They've only given up 29
Starting point is 00:09:57 points in the second half. Hey, you know, it's funny. So I thought the defense would obviously with the absence of God what's the young boy's name? Ladarius Lee Ladarius I thought there would have been
Starting point is 00:10:14 a little lapse in defense once Ladarius left and they missed the beat that god damn Chris Jones he's so god damn he's staying in the backfield he's staying in the backfield. Listen, he's staying in the backfield, but they double-teaming him. Yeah. They double-teaming him, and the opportunities
Starting point is 00:10:30 where he beats a double-team, he gets skinny so quick at the point of attack. I'm like, what is y'all doing? Just squeeze, squeeze down. He's spinning right through you. You know, he's gonna get some procedures, because he's guessing a snap. He's jumping.
Starting point is 00:10:46 He's got it down to a science. Now, you're going to get him now on a 31, 32, 41, 42. You're going to get him a couple times. But more times than not, he's going to get you. And like you said, he's hitting and he's skinny so quick. Quick.
Starting point is 00:11:01 He does a great job in what I tell receivers is play on edges. You can't play square down a man. You can't let him put his hands in your breastplate. Give him one side. Matter of fact, you know what, Unc? Now that you just said it, playing skinny for the people in the chat don't
Starting point is 00:11:17 understand what playing skinny means. Think about boxing. When it comes to boxing, you turn one side. You always got one side. So you give him the big-ass target. Yeah. It's the same thing with defensive linemen, some of the best defensive linemen.
Starting point is 00:11:36 The fact that they double-teamed Chris Jones tonight. And at the point of attack, as soon as the ball snapped, he getting skinny right away. Sometimes I saw him get skinny, his hands way up here. And he just, I'm like, man, what the heck? What is y'all doing? He's so good. He's so good with his hands, how he can stab. What I mean, use one hand to turn the offensive lineman.
Starting point is 00:11:59 Now I've got you turned. You can't do nothing. You got no leverage. You'll take one of his, push your arm up, go right on by to the side that he lifted. It's great watching guys that are so technically, he's so gifted. It looks like he's about 6'5", maybe 300 pounds,
Starting point is 00:12:18 but he's so light and quick off the ball. Oh, my goodness. For a man his size and the way he can get skin in the ground. And Spads do a great job of moving it up and down. They'll put him in his natural position, which is a three technique. They'll put him at the nose. They'll put him in a five. They'll put him in a
Starting point is 00:12:35 seven. A seven shade. They'll put him in a nine. They'll put him in a wide. Guys, I'm just saying, a wide nine is what we call a cowboy front. You can have a nine, which is slightly outside. Now you can go head up. Now you can go to a seven shade. Now you can go to a five, which is inside eye of the tight end,
Starting point is 00:12:53 outside shoulder of the tackle. Or you can go five. Or you can go three technique, Warren Sapp, Joe Green, Aaron Donald. When you think of three techniques, those are the guys. Chris Jones. But they do a great job of moving Chris Jones up and down the line of scrimmage. Because what he's trying to do is he's trying to fight a weak link. And so what he's going to do,
Starting point is 00:13:14 he's going to say, okay, I'm going to try your right tackle. I'm going to try your right guard. I'll try your center. I'll try your left guard. I'll try your left tackle. Whichever one is weak, you got hell on your hands. This is the problem. You're going to have hell on your hands regardless. Because regardless, unless he's playing either
Starting point is 00:13:29 some of the better guards and tackles in the NFL, everybody is the goddamn weak link when it comes to him. Because since Aaron Donald is gone, guess who the next man is? He's the tackle here. Yeah, he is. He legit. He for real.
Starting point is 00:13:44 He's working on legit. He for real. He's working. He's working on an extensive case for Canton five years after he retires. Oh, yeah. Most definitely. He's had that kind of impact. He's been the best player on their defense all those Super Bowl years. He's been the best player. And so that means something.
Starting point is 00:14:02 He's a multiple time all pro. He's fairheads that he's the one that makes it easier for mcduffie and when they had legeria sneed and when they had all those guys back there he made it easy because he's a hell raiser yeah he's a hell raiser he does a great job with his hands he can get skinny and he's good stout at the point of attack when it needs to be but he's trying to live in your backfield and like I said that's what they do you find a weak link
Starting point is 00:14:28 hey we turning door handles oh this was open we there we finna come here bro hey I like that one hey
Starting point is 00:14:35 you better be hey you better be on your P's and Q's Kareem Hunt 27 carries a buck or two Ocho that's crazy awesome
Starting point is 00:14:44 awesome night running the football. How long Kareem been there, Unc? Two weeks? Two weeks. Well, 13th and 13th week. I remember the first time they put him on the practice squad. To get him a week to get him acclimated. Right, right. Let him get his legs up on there. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:15:00 But he was special. I don't know if y'all remember when he first got there. That game, his come outout, break-out game was that Thursday night game against Kansas, against the Patriots after they won the Super Bowl. And he had like 100 yards rushing, 100 yards receiving. They had over 500 yards of total offense. They totally annihilated the Patriots.
Starting point is 00:15:20 That was his coming-out party. He had like, what, 13, 14, maybe even 50 under yards rushing that season. He's phenomenal. He's a dual threat guy that can run between the tackles. He can get outside. He can catch the ball. He was going to have, I would love to have seen him play his entire career or at least the years that he ended up going to Cleveland in Kansas City.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Yeah. Because that's what they missed. His numbers would have been crazy. Numbers would have been crazy because if you take that, if you take what he's able to do as far as being able to run the ball between the tackles, outside the tackles,
Starting point is 00:15:58 stretching, then you take him and put him in the passing game as well. Then you got Kelsey. Then you got all the other weaponry you got around you. it's like it's almost unfair when you think about it but listen god don't make no mistakes god god don't make no mistakes he had to sit him down and then bring him on back home and look at juju remember juju last couple years in pittsburgh yeah nothing you remember what he did you remember how he looked? What'd you call him? End up cutting him. The Patriots.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Now look how he looks now. Remember in the Super Bowl against the Eagles? You know what I always say? I always say when players, I don't want to use the word disappear, when they
Starting point is 00:16:44 go to other teams where they're not used in the right way where they can be efficient and still be productive that's what you get you get what you saw when you were with the Patriots or when he was with the Steelers, when Antonio Brown was there and he was putting up all those
Starting point is 00:17:00 numbers they doubled in AB so boom he's getting opportunities. But you have to understand that. But see, Ocho, that's the hardest thing. When people think they're number ones, when they're really a two, because
Starting point is 00:17:15 the number one is getting all the attention. So now you go somewhere, and you're the number one. And so now my focus, you're getting Latimer, you're getting Jai Alexander, you're getting Ramsey, you're getting Jai Alexander, you're getting Ramsey, you're getting Sertan, you're getting Saltz Gardner. That's a big difference between getting one constantly and getting two and three.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Yeah, I don't think people understand, but especially people in the chat. If you watch the game of football and we talk about some of the elite receivers, the Jeffersons, the Chase, the A.J. Browns, just down the list of number one receivers from each team. I don't think you understand the difference from a one and a two. There's a reason for that. There's a tremendous drop off from somebody being a number one.
Starting point is 00:18:01 So when teams break the huddle, they're making their calls and defensive assignments based on where that number one lines up. For sure. So they key in on you every down. First down, second down, third down. We need to know where he is. Yeah. And DBs, and when you're the number one,
Starting point is 00:18:20 the DB get a lot of frequent flyer miles because they travel. Oh, yeah. They follow you. Oh, yeah. Where you going? Okay, I'm there too. Yeah. Oh, you invited to the slot? I'm coming.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Hey, make sure you're going to plus one because I'm going to be right there in front of your ass. And you know what? And that's where, for a receiver, you really hope whoever your officer coordinator is has a lot of creativity when it comes to scheming. Because then you got to move them around yeah you got you got to move you around because they leave you out there by yourself well you're gonna be mad as hell when you don't touch the goddamn ball to the fourth quarter oh joe and we had this conversation i think it's about two weeks ago when you sign somebody in free agency are you going to use him like he was being used at the team that made you fall in love with him exactly because if you're not you're going to be upset your fan base is going to be
Starting point is 00:19:11 upset because they say well he ain't playing like he did over there they're not using him like they did over there you talk about derrick henry and in reference to derrick henry remember yeah you got yeah or anybody because how many times have you seen ocho a guy get big dollars in free agency and he's a a a four three defensive end they put him in a three four stand up right right or he's a three four stand up and they put him in a four three d and put him in his hand in the dirt right or this guy used to play in zone coverage of the corner and you put him in man to man hey but you better use him use him but understand, listen, when you take zone corners and they go to a man team, well, you get exposed so fast. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:51 You get exposed real fast because that's a whole different ballgame. Now, there's only a handful of players. There's a handful of DBs in NFL that can actually play man-to-man. You know what? I don't even need no help. Or it's third down, or I don't even need no help. Boy. Well, you ain't got no you don't have you don't first of all you don't have the line backer buzz in the flat so you don't have to worry about anything underneath you've got the safety over the top they're playing a lot of teams playing that two shell now because teams are
Starting point is 00:20:16 unwilling to try to run the football so i ain't got to worry about i'm like bro bro i know you all all of a sudden you want to get physical you don't think I see that safety ass way back there? Yeah. Yeah. You and you all all that. Oh, Joey, you know, they get down there, the little stand. They wiggle their little booty. Yeah. Yeah. Me and you. Get your ass out of my face. What about when they put one foot back like they get ready
Starting point is 00:20:37 to bail and try to jump press too? Yeah. Hey, everybody. Everybody want to be like Ty. They got their arms hanging. They wiggling their booty on you. I said, man, get your ass out of here. I see that safety way back there.
Starting point is 00:20:52 You are all of a sudden, you tough. Man, get the hell up out of here. Y'all ain't fooling nobody. I'll tell you what. Tell them you want to cover me, man. And I guarantee you'll find your name. I bet you on monday morning your name will be on the wave or why you know i i always wondered when it comes to
Starting point is 00:21:11 let's say just just for instance hypothetically speaking like when it comes to like a sauce gardener or patrick sartain jr i wonder are they allowed to go to their coach and say i want to travel i know we have a certain scheme that we run. I know there's certain things that we do defensively, but do me the favor, allow me to travel with whoever it is because I want to match up against him all day. You think DB's have the freedom to say that?
Starting point is 00:21:35 Probably, Ocho, but the thing is is that you give the offense keys because they know when you go and you play in a certain coverage with that guy. So now, that's why a lot of teams don't like to travel because I don't want you getting keys on what I'm doing based on what he's doing. So I want to disguise it as much as I possibly can.
Starting point is 00:21:53 So you think it's zone. Nah, bro, we in, man. I just got, I just going to roll some help late over the top. See, that's, that's how, if you really like that, I'm just, I'm just saying me, if I was a DB, if you really like that, hey coach, who we got me if i was a db if you really like that hey coach who we got this week man listen i got him all game you run whatever coverage you want to to the other side of the field this side i got this don't even worry about it i got you
Starting point is 00:22:15 well see that's the problem that you run into like when you play a team like the 49ers or you play a devon you play the eagles because while you got somebody dealing with aj brown and aj go make your play, Devontae Smith gonna eat that number two up. Yeah, killing you. Brandon and I, you gonna eat your number two up. Right. So that's the problem that you run into. Okay. Y'all got, now T.J. gonna eat.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Oh, y'all gonna do what y'all do to Ocho? Okay. T.J. gonna eat. And as soon as y'all start rolling the coverage over there to help T.J. out, I'll be back. Oh, you forgot? I'll be right back. Oh, y'all start rolling the coverage over there to help TJ out, I'll be back. Oh, you forgot? I'll be right back. Oh, y'all forgot, huh? Starting point is 00:23:50 I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on good company, the podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen.
Starting point is 00:24:34 Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair.
Starting point is 00:25:18 And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask... I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Chiefs heading to the bye week 5-0 after
Starting point is 00:26:11 a 26-13 victory over the New Orleans Saints. They're undefeated in their quest to be the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls. The Chiefs received some good news today, Ocho, regarding Rasheed Rice's status. Ian Rappaport reported that
Starting point is 00:26:27 Rice's LCL may be the only ligament that needs to be repaired. Schefter reported it's unlikely Chief Rasheed Rice will play again this season, but doctors will not know for sure until they do the surgery. He's going under anesthesia. They're going to look around and see
Starting point is 00:26:43 what they find and what they repair will determine the extent of the injury and how much downtime. What should the Chiefs do? Hey, Tyreek. Hey, Miami. Y'all want to trade us Tyreek back?
Starting point is 00:26:58 I'm going to Tyreek first because he knows the offense, Ocho. Right. I'm going to put that out there. I mean, that's a good one. I like it, but they don't need to. They don't need to. Not based off what I saw tonight.
Starting point is 00:27:09 Oh, no, no. That's not good enough, Ocho. Not based off what I saw tonight. That's not good enough. You don't need to. I don't know if you'll beat the Ravens again without, see, Tyreek is that fear factor. Whoa, but they only got Xavier Worthy. You already got the fear factor.
Starting point is 00:27:22 Mm-mm. I won't. No, see, he's scared. he ain't the boogeyman he ain't i want the boogeyman right i want you afraid to come outside i want to hey man you gonna you got tyree nah nah bro i won't use you matter of fact that that ain't even fair now that i think about it could you imagine a team now think about when hollywood hollywood brown come back think about if they did get tyree think about it, could you imagine a team? Now think about when Hollywood Brown come back. Think about if they did get Tyreek.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Think about and Xavier Worthy at the same time. Yeah. Come on, man. That's what I need. Matter of fact, you know what? If Tyreek was to come back, just say hypothetically speaking, how about we just hand him the goddamn Lombardi now? Because you're not stopping that.
Starting point is 00:28:04 You're not stopping that. I don't think there's a defense or a scheme or a team that is put together. Well enough. Has the personnel to stop something like that. No. So you reach out to tell you, reach out to Miami, see if they're interested with Tyreek. Then I'll probably go.
Starting point is 00:28:18 Uh, uh, D hop. Cause I don't believe me personally. I don't. This ain't, this ain't mad. You trying to create a,
Starting point is 00:28:24 uh, ultimate team there, but here's the, but no, I'm just saying all personally. I don't. This ain't mad. You trying to create an ultimate team there. But here's the, but no, I'm just saying all that. Oh, Joe closed mouth. Don't get fed. Now.
Starting point is 00:28:32 Jerry said he thought Derrick Henry was too expensive, but did he see? That's like, you're going, you're going to the, you're going to the club or something. And that fine girl over there, man,
Starting point is 00:28:43 she probably got somebody. Did you ask to see club or something and that fine girl over there, man, she probably got somebody. Did you ask to see? Well, listen, if you see that fine girl over there, I, you'd never forget the game of soccer just because there's a goalie in net doesn't mean you can't go.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Exactly. So go over there and ask her, guess what? She might be on the out. They might've just broke up. Yeah. Yeah. He might've did some floss-ish.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. She want a lick back. You got to be, hey, listen, that's one thing about it. They will get that lick back. All she can do is tell me no. She probably ain't going to tell you that.
Starting point is 00:29:22 I want to hear her say it, though. There's something refreshing about being told no. You like that? It don't make you feel bad when somebody tells you no? No! Do you know how many times I was told no that I ain't gonna be ish? That I ain't gonna do nothing?
Starting point is 00:29:37 And if you go to college, you ain't gonna do what you did in high school. And if you go to the NFL, I done been told no. It ain't no thing to me. But do what you did in high school if you go to the nfl you i done been told no i don't it ain't no thing right right right right right right but here's that guess what she say yeah man i'll be clicking my heels like dorothy in the window of the bar there's no place like home there's no place man please don't show heycho. All you can do is say no. Listen, I know one thing about it. You've
Starting point is 00:30:07 heard more yeses than you've heard no's in life. I know that. Absolutely. And guess what, Ocho? There have been some times there have been no turn to yeses. I see what I'm saying. It was no yesterday, but tomorrow? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Quick. And I be thinking all the time. I remember you told? Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Quick. And I be thinking all the time. I remember you told me no. Oh, yeah. One hand on you. One hand on you, Ocho. Yeah. Sometimes.
Starting point is 00:30:33 Sometimes you got to make them pay for saying no, huh? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got to make them pay for saying no. And depending, like, I don't mean to be getting off track, but it's funny sometimes when they say no and you get an opportunity, for some reason, it always seems like they free time.
Starting point is 00:30:51 They all of a sudden have free time. Oh, I got free time now. Oh, now you're not busy no more. It's funny how that works. Sometimes, no. Are you telling me to turn the page or are you telling me to close
Starting point is 00:31:07 the book? Boy. Hey, hold on. Hold on. You know, I'm in a hotel. I'm in this fancy... Look at the pin. A little feather.
Starting point is 00:31:22 You must be in Philadelphia, right? With Ben Franklin. Who the hell are you, Ben Franklin? I'm in New York. And somehow, I don't know where Doug got me staying at, man. What you about to sign the Declaration of Independence? There you go. You got me in one of these fancy hotels.
Starting point is 00:31:42 Come on, now. Don't do me like that. Give me that quote one more time. But that's the thing, Ocho. Sometimes you got to understand, okay, do I turn the page or do I close the book? Stop. Stay right there. Stay right there now.
Starting point is 00:31:56 Do I turn the page or do I close the book? See, now that's a good one-liner when you're in an argument with your woman. That's a good one-liner when you're in an argument with your woman. That's a good one-liner. Now, that can stumble up or trip up, and she might not have a way to answer to that because that's a good one. How do you want to continue this conversation? You want me to turn the page or close the book? Because if I close the book, then we done. So if I turn the page, then the conversation over.
Starting point is 00:32:24 Now, which one you want? Hey, I'm a you. If I close the book, we over. At least if I turn the page, I can continue reading. All I'm saying is I'm done with this conversation at this time. Hey, well, you be having
Starting point is 00:32:40 some. Oh, that's a good one. Wait till I'm in the argument. I close that book yeah that ain't the bible i ain't going back into it and open it up when i can find a hard time you know a lot of times people go back to the bible they don't read the bible until they fall on hard time right right right right oh i don't man i don't believe but guess what happened with something lord have mercy that's the first thing that hollered at Ocho. Hey, when you're driving, when you're driving, right,
Starting point is 00:33:10 and it's raining, and you start sliding, who the first person you call on? Alright, now. Boy, boy, boy. But Ocho, that's a, that's tough. Yeah. Because we've all been in
Starting point is 00:33:28 situations where you want something, and then it's like, no, hey, I got time. You know, I ain't gonna lie, I got time. Right, right, right. Sometimes it's been a year, sometimes it's been two years, three years. Yeah. But you know, on fire, when they ain't got no expiration date, not with Ocho.
Starting point is 00:33:44 Hold on. I know you ain't waiting that long. fire when they ain't got no expiration date, not with O'Shea. Hold on. I know you ain't waiting that long. I know you ain't waiting that long. No, no, no, no. Who said I was waiting? Oh, I mean, you said one year, two years. I've been trying to. I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Right. Sometimes the line to get into the restaurant is long. You got to wait your turn. Oh, come on now. You got to wait your turn. You know what's funny? You know what's funny when you say that this is this is the weird thing about life this is the weird thing about uh relationships this is the weird thing about about marriages or situations in today's time the funny thing about it if there's someone you want all you have to do is wait
Starting point is 00:34:23 all you have to do is wait because everything has an expiration date. There's something very difficult, something very difficult. Three things you can't make happy. You can't make people on the Internet happy. Ain't no way to make the IRS happy. And the most difficult thing of all time is keeping a woman happy long term. The most difficult. Now, there's a man out there that has figured that out.
Starting point is 00:34:50 Please let me know and write a book. Very difficult. Long term, huh? Yeah. Once they've known you, when the butterflies are gone, the dopamine is gone. When the honeymoon phase is gone, how do you still continue to find ways to keep a motherfucker happy? Because when you have that feeling of the unknown and you don't know, I mean, it's always exciting then. You know, you always got butterflies then.
Starting point is 00:35:14 What happened when you're in year five? What happened when you're in year seven? You're in year eight. See, it's different now. This ain't back in the old days, baby. What? You know what? We ain't got nowhere else to go, so we ain we had no choice but to stay with who you with now blowing them up ain't
Starting point is 00:35:31 happy now but they hit the door so goddamn quick yeah next because yeah it's like that with everybody everybody think it's better everybody hey guys think they got they're gonna find a better woman women think they're gonna find a better better woman. Women think they're going to find a better man. In some cases, you might. Some cases, you just might. But a lot of times, it's not that you found someone better. It's that you were willing to do more. So you would do more for someone new than you would for what you had.
Starting point is 00:36:03 That's the problem. Ain't nothing changed but what you did your girl asked you to go ID nah baby I'm hungry I don't want to go out that new one asked you where you want to go that's called complacency all the things
Starting point is 00:36:22 you used to do to get them it kind of fades away as time goes on. But that's what. It kind of fades away. But that's what, that's how I am. I am, I am very,
Starting point is 00:36:35 whatever I do, I'll continue that. I'll continue it. That's hard. No, it ain't. You don't think so? Not for me. Not for me. I want you. This, it ain't. You don't think so? Not for me. I want you.
Starting point is 00:36:47 This is what I'm willing to do, not only to get you, but to keep you. But don't be all of a sudden, Ocho. All of a sudden. I ain't never did that. Can I connect you to something? Yes. I know we all track a little bit but stay with me now
Starting point is 00:37:07 do you understand how difficult it is and it's one thing you see quotes and you hear people talk about it but you know how difficult it is if you wear the same shoe all the time over and over and over and over and over and over and over and After a certain amount of time, what happened to the bottom of that shoe? Did it get wore out? It's hard. It's hard. And then you have to reinvent and create a new soul. But guess what?
Starting point is 00:37:33 When I think about what you just said, how long have you actually been in a situation where you've been able to do the things you did in the beginning and still kept up that same pattern. That same pattern because after a while, boy, you see these Ocho?
Starting point is 00:37:54 These are what I wear in my house. They don't go outside. They're going to eventually get worn down, but guess who wore them down? That old lady that I had, 10, 15, guess who wore them down? It was O'Shea ground her down to the nose. down. That old lady that I had, 10, 15, gets more down. It was O'Shea grounded down to the nose. Hold on, hold on. I'm in a hotel
Starting point is 00:38:14 and I can't get too loud. But that's what it is. I mean, look, I do what I love. You know, one thing about women that's ever been in my presence, they'll tell you, oh, I knew he that's ever been in my presence. Yes, sir. They'll tell you, oh, I knew he liked me.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Ain't no question. Yeah. Ain't no question. Ain't no ifs, ands, buts. Right, right, right. I think he kind of digging on me. You know. Because O'Shea coming.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Yeah. I'm coming. Yeah. Shoot, I'm coming too now. Yeah. And when I come. Yeah. Category five. When I touch down, I'm coming to then yeah and when I come category 5 when I touch down I'm wrecking shop
Starting point is 00:38:48 that's what I'm talking about still coming down Ojo still coming down that's all I'm saying just 5 weeks in we're down to 2 teams chasing the 1972 Dolphins the only team to finish the regular and post season undefeated in the same season. They went 17-0 in winning the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:39:11 The Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Vikings are the only two remaining undefeated teams. Ocho, who will lose first, the Chiefs or the Vikings? You know what's funny? I'm not sure who will lose first, but they will want to lose, though. At some point, you want to lose. I wouldn't even be wanting to chase that record,
Starting point is 00:39:33 especially before it comes close to playoff time. If anything, continue to win over and over and over before you reach the playoffs so you know what adversity feels like, so you know what it feels like to lose and know what you need to do to make sure it doesn't happen again the team that i think would lose first it'd probably be the chiefs it i for some reason i think it'll probably be the chiefs i'm not sure what team will have that number but when the chiefs do lose a game it's going to be a team that we least expect
Starting point is 00:40:01 it and it's probably going to be the raiders percent i'm And it's probably going to be the Raiders. It's probably going to be the Raiders that they lose to. I'm trying to see. Which one is, so the top is the Chiefs? Oh, yeah. So the Chiefs' next game is at 10-20. Is that the 49ers? So the Chiefs have the
Starting point is 00:40:19 49ers at Raiders, Tampa at home, Broncos at home, at Bills, at Panthers, Raiders at home, Charcos at home at bills at Panthers Raiders at home charges at home at Browns versus Texas uh Steelers on Christmas Broncos won five Detroit so no so now the Minnesota Vikings they got Detroit the Rams the Colts the Jags the Colts, the Jags, the Titans, the Bears, the Cardinals, the Falcons. Man, it looked like the Chiefs were going to lose that first. They got the 49ers, the Bucs, Buffalo.
Starting point is 00:40:59 Oh, Joe, I remember we started the season in 98. We started 13-0. I didn't want to lose. Damn. We started 13-0. Y'all won Super Bowl that year? We did. We were 14-2 in the regular season, won the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:41:15 Ocho, the thing is, we had a lead. I think we had the lead. The Giants. We had the lead on the Giants. We kicked the ball off. We tackled them on the 13-yard line. Yeah. In three plays.
Starting point is 00:41:30 They were 87-yard touchdown. Three plays? Three plays. Golly. And we lost. We threw a Hail Mary in the end zone. John threw a Hail Mary. A Hail Mary. But we lost. We threw a Hail Mary in the end zone. John threw a Hail Mary but we lost. And then
Starting point is 00:41:50 we played Monday night. We played the Dolphins on Monday night and they beat the Braves off us. But it made us mad because they were celebrating. It was Sam Madison, T-Buck, all them guys was over there celebrating.
Starting point is 00:42:06 And I just remember it was me, Foots, and TD. I said, look at them. We'll see them again. We got something funny ass when we see them. Division around the playoffs, 38-3. Y'all mocked them like that?
Starting point is 00:42:22 Did we? Y'all must have played in Denver, huh? We did. Okay. We did. 38-3 Ocho. TD had like a buck 99. Damn. And we called the dogs off on him.
Starting point is 00:42:34 Hold on. Zach Thomas. This one. Well, no. Zach Thomas. Oh, Zach Thomas was there. Jason Taylor. But we ran him.
Starting point is 00:42:40 Brock Marion was at safety. We ran him off the field. Ran him out of my eye hold on hey Louis Oliver was playing then no no no Sweet Lou had been gone oh he'd been gone okay and Jarvis Jarvis Williams was there too
Starting point is 00:42:58 I played against both of them Jarvis and Sweet Lou that's what gave I remember O Ocho, we went to Berlin, we played them in Berlin. Right. We went all over, I mean, the Broncos, because obviously we had John, so
Starting point is 00:43:13 we went to Japan twice, we went to Australia, we went to Berlin, we went to Barcelona. We played, we was playing them, we was going to play Miami and Berlin. So, obviously, we have practice, scrimm play Miami and Berlin. So, obviously, we have practice. Scrimmage against each other.
Starting point is 00:43:28 So, one-on-ones. I had actually never done one-on-ones as a wide receiver. Right. Well, early in my career,
Starting point is 00:43:36 my first year, then when they moved me to tight end, I didn't do it no more. Right. So, Dan said, Shannon, got me out of 907,
Starting point is 00:43:43 said, I want you to go run some routes. I'm like, okay. So, I went down there. I was like, John said, Shannon, got me out of 907. Say, I want you to go run some routes. I'm like, okay. So I went down there. I was like, John said, I want you to get, I want you to, you know, I know what you can do. I want you to go. I want you to show them what you can do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:57 I cooked everybody. Everybody. They start in corners. Right. Jarvis, Lou cook, I'm cooking everybody that's when
Starting point is 00:44:12 I knew at that point in time I said okay they gonna it never really dawned on me Ocho cause when Dan pulled me out of down on seven to go down there, I'm just like okay then it really dawned on me and John pulled me and said, okay, I want you to
Starting point is 00:44:27 get this work now. I want you to do what you do. Cooking. Cooking. Rumors surrounding Devontae Adams and talks of him being traded away from Las Vegas are ramping up. According to Kay Adams, he will not be on our show Tuesday as originally scheduled.
Starting point is 00:44:46 She tweeted, oh boy, lots happening at the moment with our guy Adams. He won't be on tomorrow. Sorry about that. Stay tuned. Today, Adams, you have to name the Jets. The Saints are the most likely landing spots for Devontae Adams' services. I mean, it makes the most
Starting point is 00:45:02 sense. We know why the Saints, but I don't think most sense. We know why, the Saints, but I don't think the best fit for him would be the Saints, being that they have their targets already, you know, Lave and Rasheed Shaheed. But what makes sense to me, to help both of the offense over New York, is Aaron Rodgers.
Starting point is 00:45:20 I mean, it makes the most sense, you know? And I think if he is to come, I think he will restructure and promising that he'll be there, obviously, more than one year, because I think Aaron will probably come back another year as well because of the injury the previous
Starting point is 00:45:38 year. But just, I mean, the writing is on the wall. The writing is on the wall. I'm sure Aaron, behind closed doors, is going to try to do everything he can to get the Jets to get Devontae on down there, and it gives them a chance. It gives them a chance. I think if you have Aaron Rodgers, you brought him there for a reason,
Starting point is 00:45:56 so you might as well give him all the tools you want to to see how far you guys can go. The AFC East right now, I mean, it's up for grabs. It's up for grabs, so why not improve your offense and go take it? All that being said, Aaron's going to have to play better than Ocho. Oh, yeah, yeah, most definitely. He's not playing well. Based on what we saw last night.
Starting point is 00:46:16 And the week before against the Broncos. Yeah, yeah. He hasn't played well. Even if you go back to the first game, he played well in one game. But other than that, he hadn't played well. Even if you go back to the first game, now he played well in one game, but other than that, he hadn't played well. He's going to have to play better because remember, Ocho,
Starting point is 00:46:32 he was supposed to be the reason why they're winning, not why they're losing. And so their defense is, look, their defense isn't historically great, but they're playing well enough. Well enough, yeah. He's not holding up his end of the deal. I'm not
Starting point is 00:46:47 breaking news, guys. This is not an Amber Alert where Shannon Sharpe is breaking news about Aaron Rodgers being bad. He's not playing well, and we can acknowledge that. A lot of people don't want to acknowledge that, but I think athletes want you to be honest with them. I believe you can be honest
Starting point is 00:47:03 without beating them over the head. He's not playing well. It's okay. And the funny thing about it is, you know what I but I think athletes want you to be honest with them. I believe you could be honest without beating them over the head. Right, right, right. He's not playing well. It's okay. And the funny thing about it is, you know what I like about Aaron, which I think most of the time, or maybe he doesn't, he took accountability for that. He said he has to play well.
Starting point is 00:47:18 I mean, he said that most times they deflect and point the fingers at other people, you know, but the fact that he was able to take account of it, you know what? I didn't play well. I didn't play like myself. So, I mean, we're going to see what happens. I'm not sure who they're playing. I'm not sure who the Jets are playing next.
Starting point is 00:47:33 But hopefully, he has a better showing. Is the Lions going to have a fire sale? What about Max Crosby? Does he want to stay? Does he want out? Yeah, nah. They must run. Somebody get him. Woo!
Starting point is 00:47:50 Hey, he'll raise Ojo. He's relentless. Big time. He reminds me of Jared Allen. You remember Jared Allen? I'm not just getting ready to say Jared Allen. Remember every time Jared Allen got a sack, he would steer the cow and tie him up?
Starting point is 00:48:05 Yeah. Yeah. Kansas City and Minnesota. I think he played one year in Carolina, too. But that's where he made a name for himself, with Kansas City and Minnesota. But, well, look, I just want Devontae to get somewhere where he can play out his last.
Starting point is 00:48:26 Because what, he got two more years left on that contract? He's in the third year of a five-year deal, right? So he needs to get somewhere. And obviously, he's going to look for what Schefter is reporting. It looks like the Jets and Saints. And listen, it needs to happen sooner than later, too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:50 It needs to happen sooner than later. On this most recent podcast, Michael Parsons said he thinks the Jets is where Devontae's going to land. I think that relationship with the Jets is going to come to life. Michael said where Devontae is going to land. I think that relationship with the Jets is going to come to life. Michael said that Devontae brings a winning culture after predicting
Starting point is 00:49:09 that he would head to New York. Yeah, I like it. It makes the most sense. I mean, it just makes the most sense. If it's another team outside of that, to me, I mean, it just, I don't understand it. I wouldn't understand it. But the fact that it
Starting point is 00:49:26 got out Ocho that he wants out he he's brought down he suppressed his value because I know you got to get rid of it see Ocho anything I know you trying to sell I ain't going to give you I'm not going to give you market price for it because I know you got to get rid of it because you know why I know you got to get rid of
Starting point is 00:49:41 it because he wants out and he will cause you problem if he doesn't get out not publicly not going to do anything but remember why I know you got to get rid of it? Because he won't stop. And he'll cause you problem if he doesn't get out. Not publicly, not going to do anything. But remember, and I told you off the air, I said, I believe AP was talking about Devontae Adams when he said guys are making business decisions and we will make business decisions moving forward. Right.
Starting point is 00:50:01 I believe I could be totally wrong, but I believe that's what he was talking about. Yeah, I'm not sure. Ain't no telling because I wasn't able to see the film. I think if I was able to see the film, I'd be able to tell you exactly who was making those business decisions. And
Starting point is 00:50:15 what would that happen? The tweet Devontae Adams played his last game. Somebody that either runs his account or AP the tweet Devontae Adams played his last game. Somebody that either runs his account or AP liked that tweet. Oh, that's right. That's right. I know what you're talking about.
Starting point is 00:50:32 I know what you're talking about. Yeah, yeah. I remember that. I remember that. If somebody's saying something about Ocho and somebody from Rail account liked that tweet, you're like, hold on.
Starting point is 00:50:47 Rail, you like that? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:50 We had to have a little conversation. We'll be on, we'll be on, sister. Yeah, we'll be on. You like your tweets
Starting point is 00:50:59 that they talking reckless out here about your boy? You like that tweet? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Starting point is 00:51:04 yeah, yeah. You got something you want to tell me? In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair.
Starting point is 00:53:36 And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask Attorney General. Please do.
Starting point is 00:54:10 To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. head coach Kevin Stefanski maintains that one in four Browns are sticking with Deshaun Watson as his starting quarterback when asked is there exclusively Stefanski decision to stick with Deshaun Watson he said I understand the question as you know, I make decisions for our football team, but I obviously consult with GM Andrew Barry and I obviously talk to Andrew about everything we do. I talk to ownership about everything we do. That's how we operate.
Starting point is 00:54:56 Ocho, do you think this is Kevin Stefanski's decision alone? No, absolutely not. You know, the decision is being made from upstairs. The decision is being made from upstairs. The decision is being made by the person in the position of power, regardless of what Stefanski wants to do. Jameis Winston is a
Starting point is 00:55:12 phenomenal quarterback. He's a phenomenal quarterback. I'm not... I think if he was to go in, it would be somewhat of an offensive resurgence because of just what he brings to the table and who he is. But Stefanski doesn't have any would be somewhat of an offensive resurgence because of just what he brings to the table and who he is. But Tafansi doesn't have any power.
Starting point is 00:55:29 He knows that, and he has to say all the right things. He has to say all the right things in front of camera. Is this what he really wants to do? Probably not. But the owners and those in the positions of power upstairs that went and gave Deshaun the money in which they
Starting point is 00:55:46 felt it was going to pay dividends. It just hasn't worked out for the better for them. You have to stick with your quarterback. You have to. Ocho, they added $90 million to the contract and he haven't even got to the extension
Starting point is 00:56:02 that Houston gave him the year before. Yeah, right. They added that when they didn't have to. That's how bad they needed the quarterback, Unc. That's how bad they needed the quarterback. And the great understanding, think about, look at the commanders. Look at the commanders. You get a quarterback, it changes your entire franchise around.
Starting point is 00:56:24 They were 4- 12 last year. Yep. They got four wins right now. In one season, your entire franchise has changed around because of the quarterback play. Yep. Understanding what Deshaun Watson was his last year in Houston, that Cleveland Browns are looking,
Starting point is 00:56:40 if you look at all the quarterbacks they've been through, how many years of trying to find that guy? Well, hell, I mean, you have to understand why they did what they did. Look how long they've been searching. You mean to tell me Deshaun Watson's available and based on what he was able to do and Houston with not that much talent around him, where he was considered a top three quarterback at the time? You think we're not gonna throw 20 30 million guaranteed at him you goddamn right well we had never seen a quarterback at this age come
Starting point is 00:57:12 to the market without a a career threatened injury we saw drew reed we saw peyton manning we said tom brady in year 20 but we had never seen a quarterback that was 24, 25 years of age become a free agent, become to the trade market because they're so valuable. Those guys just don't become available. We've seen top players at every other position become available.
Starting point is 00:57:37 We've never seen that guy. I'm not saying Deshaun, but I'm saying a quarterback of his caliber at his age with no career in. Look, yes, he's had two ACLs, but I'm saying a quarterback of his caliber, at his age, with no career in. Look, yes, he's had two ACLs, but ACLs is not career-threatening. I think he tore his ACL his first year. Actually, his first is rookie year because he tore it in college, and then he tore it again in NFL.
Starting point is 00:57:59 But we saw Drew Brees. Drew Brees had a career in what many believe that was a career-ending shoulder injury. He was available. Peyton had a career-ending neck injury. That's why he was available. Tom Brady was in year 20. So we're talking about a guy that was, what, 40, 40-plus years of age. So that's why they were able to become available.
Starting point is 00:58:22 But we had never seen nobody in their absolute prime, 24, 25 years of age, become available. So you're absolutely right. You're damn right, team. And there were several teams in the bid. But at the price, like, well, we need you to add some money, you know, Atlanta stepped out. Because he's from the Atlanta area. He grew up in Gainesville, which is about an hour away. I think maybe New Orleans. There are a couple of teams that was
Starting point is 00:58:45 but ended up Cleveland. The Browns are currently 30th in points scored and 32nd in total yards. Deshaun has completed 60.2% of his passes, 852 yards, five touchdowns, three interceptions, while taking a league-high
Starting point is 00:59:02 26 sacks. Deshaun is on pace to break the dubious record most sacked in the season. 88 in 17 games. That would break the record set by David Carr of the expansion Houston-Texas. Carr was sacked 76 times that year, and it's been the record ever since,
Starting point is 00:59:23 and we know what that did to Derek David car mentally. Watson has lost 154 yards on his sack. If he continued at this current pace, he will finish the season. Have it lost 524 yards on set. The record is 489 set by Randall Cunningham in 1986. Damn man. I mean, I'm not surprised that he gets sacked a lot, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:59:52 I'm really not. Because if you go back and look at the most sacked quarterbacks, they're the most mobile. Michael Vick, John Elway, Steve Young, Randall Cunningham, Deshaun Watson. Quarterbacks that are mobile, because guess what happens? They run away from one thing and run themselves into trouble on the other side.
Starting point is 01:00:09 That's funny how that works because you would think a non-mobile quarterback can get a sack more. You're right. Oh, man. The Buffalo Bills are coming off their two worst games of the Joe Brady era and Josh Allen had one the two worst games of the Joe Brady era.
Starting point is 01:00:25 And Josh Allen had one of his worst games of his NFL career in week five against the Houston Texans going 9 of 30 through the era. Despite the struggles, the small losing streak, offensive coordinator Joe Brady isn't worried even if fans are. We believe in who we are. We believe in this unit. We believe in the guy throwing the football. It's just not words. It's belief. The believe in this unit. We believe in the guy throwing the football. It's just not words.
Starting point is 01:00:45 It's belief. The sky hasn't fallen. And now it's time for Money Moves presented by DraftKings. Despite their struggles, the Bills still have the third best odds
Starting point is 01:01:05 to win the AFC. The Chiefs are plus 220. The Ravens are plus 300. The Bills are plus 425 ahead of the Texans who just beat them. Ocho, do you believe the sky is falling on the Bills?
Starting point is 01:01:20 No, I wouldn't say the sky is falling because anytime you have a quarterback like Josh Allen, you always have a chance. You always have a have a chance now Josh Allen's Achilles heel has always been the turnovers if you can minimize the turnovers and somewhat continue to facilitate the ball and this offensive coordinator doesn't put him in harm's way to where he has to play Superman if he has to put that cape on mistakes are to play Superman. If he has to put that cape on, mistakes are going to be made. If he has to put that cape on
Starting point is 01:01:48 and do everything himself, mistakes are going to be made. It's going to happen. Because that pressure, when you have pressure like that, it busts pipes. It busts pipes. So the players around him are going to have to step up, especially the receivers. They got to get Keon Coleman involved a little
Starting point is 01:02:04 bit more. They got to get him involved. Shakira will be back at some point. I'm not sure how long Shakira is out, but they got to get him involved. They have to. But they can't have him playing Superman. He can't be a savior. He can't be a savior.
Starting point is 01:02:20 Ocho, you're in a tieball game. Tieball game. You're on your own one, two yard line. Oh, that was horrible clock management. Why would you throw the ball three straight times and stop the clock? That was horrible clock management. Run at least one time. But then you also got to be careful, huh?
Starting point is 01:02:37 You got to be careful. Because what's the first thing the defense think you're doing when you're on the one yard line? Running the ball. Good. That way I want time to go off the clock you didn't stop the clock safety what happened quarterback sneak right oh okay okay the one thing that you don't want to happen is stop the clock
Starting point is 01:03:00 fuck yeah because unless the guy uncorks a 70, 80 yarder, Ocho, he gonna get that ball at the 50. You get a first down with the way these kickers are kicking the ball now. Oh, yeah. That's a field goal. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:19 The Bills are the only team. Ocho, I want you to listen to this. The Bills are the only team. I want you to listen to this. The Bills are the only team in the last 45 years to be tied or leading in the final minutes of a game inside their own five-yard line to throw the ball three straight times.
Starting point is 01:03:36 Think about what I just said. The Buffalo Bills are the only team in the last 45 years to be tied or leading in the final minute of the game inside their own five-yard line and throw three straight passes. That's
Starting point is 01:03:51 how ridiculous Asinine utterly insane what they did. It's been 45 years. Yeah. Hey, matter of fact, you see what Joe Brady did?
Starting point is 01:04:08 You see what Joe Brady did? What did he do? Josh Allen backed up all the way on the one-yard line. Throwing the ball three times. What about shotgun? Yeah, even the shotgun, yeah. That's what the goddamn Bengals should have done when they had that goddamn ball in overtime
Starting point is 01:04:23 when they got that ball. Oh, yeah. Yeah. But not on the side of your own five. I'm just saying. But, I mean, you see the difference? I mean, one situation, you run the ball three times. Then another situation, hell, you should have been in the gun doing what worked for you the entirety of the game, but you just don't do it.
Starting point is 01:04:46 I mean, I don't even feel like getting mad all over again about my Bengals, but it's all good. The commander's quarterback, Jaden Daniels, has exceeded expectations to begin his rookie season, including those from his own teammate, Terry McClurin. Talked about the quarterback's hot start with Albert Brissett. I did not anticipate him coming in and hitting the ground running like that. I played with a few quarterbacks and definitely a few rookies. Sometimes it takes some time to get comfortable in an NFL system,
Starting point is 01:05:10 not just at practice. Then you go into the game as a different animal. What's always encouraged me about him is his ability to get better every day in practice. When we would have a so-so practice the next day, he would not make the same mistakes twice. Same thing in in practice. When we would have a so-so practice, the next day he would not make, make, uh, making the same mistakes twice.
Starting point is 01:05:27 Same thing in joint practices. Then you get into the game and you see him getting better each and every week. I think it's a testament to the experience that he had in college, but it's also his preparation. He puts in that dude works so hard. He's always prepared. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:43 I think it also has to do with where he came, where he came, what school he came, what school he's coming from. Being under the big lights, being at LSU, used to the large crowds, coming from a college team that is preparing you for the next level anyway. So all you had to do was do just that, hit the ground running based on everything you you you take it from there everything you've learned since your adolescence since you've been playing quarterback you come on to the nfl you put the right people around you if you're in the right situation you get what you get from jane daniels at such an early age even as i mean such early age at such early time even as a rookie but he had 55 starts so Joe, do you know how many starts that he has in college? Yeah, that's a good thing.
Starting point is 01:06:28 Most time college quarterbacks, their red shirt, play two years, they gone. Yeah. That's why he looked the way he did. Let's just say, if you play for the national championship, you're probably playing 14 to 15 games. Obviously he didn't play for the national championship.
Starting point is 01:06:43 So he's playing, Basically, he's been a starter ever since he walked into college. To get that many starts. It's extremely impressive. It goes to show you the work that he's put in. Daniel's completing 77.1%
Starting point is 01:07:04 of his passes, the highest among all starting quarterbacks. He set a single-game rookie completion record during Washington's 3-3 win over the Bengals, connected on 91.3% of his throws. Young boy
Starting point is 01:07:19 look like he's been there before, man. Him and him and him and C.J. Shroud, they look like they've been there before, man. That's the only way. Him and CJ Stroud, they look like they've been there before. They do. And if you can believe this, he's playing better than CJ did last year because CJ didn't pick up his play to like week three, week four, week five. This joker came out the gate. On fire.
Starting point is 01:07:43 Gerard Mayo had a noticeably different tone about his quarterback room after week five. Many have wondered if, when he'll make the change from veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett to rookie Drake May. Last week, when Mayo was asked about the possibility of quarterback change, he said, Jacoby is 100% our starter.
Starting point is 01:08:01 Today, he said, every single day, we're all being evaluated, and it's no different now. The Patriots have fallen to 1-4 on the season after dropping their fourth consecutive game on Sunday in the loss to Miami. The New England mustered just 10 points while Jacoby Brissett completed 18 of 34 passes,
Starting point is 01:08:19 160 yards. Ocho, in the words of Sam Cooke, is a change going to come? I would hope not. I would hope not. Jacoby Brissett can't get it done as a veteran. Don't put your rookie quarterback out there. Don't put your rookie quarterback out there
Starting point is 01:08:38 like things are going to miraculously change just because he's at the helm. He's a rookie. He's a rookie for a reason. Now, CJ Shroud, different. Jane Daniels, different. Understand what they have around them to make that offense go. Hell, if you change some of the weaponry
Starting point is 01:08:52 for Jacoby Brissett, I'm sure things will be different. You're one and four. You're one and four for a reason. You're one and four for a reason. And I don't think chaining to a rookie as your quarterback ain't going to change much anything.
Starting point is 01:09:04 Let the man get some experience, Ocho. I was just going to say that. Now, you might want to stick him out there for the sake of getting him that experience, but you know what happened with experience, too? You know what else could happen to him? You're going to take some bumps, but like you say, you don't learn nothing from the bench.
Starting point is 01:09:22 Yes, but one thing about it, if you're going to take those bumps, you got to leave them in there. You got to, once you make that change. Oh, yeah, once you go to Drake May, oh, yeah, he's quarterback. He's quarterback for the rest of the year. You can't go back. I agree.
Starting point is 01:09:36 I agree. The Volume. I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on good company.
