Starting point is 00:00:35 I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on good company. The podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi. We dive into the competitive world of streaming. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Starting point is 00:03:34 of Dak destroying his Texas mansion so he can build a new one. Dak spoke today on how he doesn't appreciate the coverage around his home renovation project that drew national attention. Yeah. We can't show that, K-1.
Starting point is 00:03:47 I'm sure everybody else saw it. We don't want to get no copyright. You're the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. Yeah. If someone is recording anything that you're doing, it's going viral. It's going viral. And that's okay. You know what you're going to get.
Starting point is 00:04:04 You've got to understand what's coming with the territory. Dak, you know that. You know that. I can't wait to see it. Invite me over. I'll bring you a gift. Nice little housewarming gift. You know what I think it is, Ocho? I think the thing is that when we normally we see people like that, man, they got
Starting point is 00:04:24 so much money. They tear the house down. They got, man, that got a million dollar home that they tear down to build on top of it. And so it kind of puts that like, yeah, because, you know, when the first thing happened, some Ocho, you go buy a car, man. You know how many people starving in the world and Ocho buy a two hundred thousand dollar car. So if I didn't buy the car, how many people in the world would be starving if a $200,000 car. Huh? So if I didn't buy the car, how many people in the world would be starving if I didn't buy this car? That's what I'm saying. People always have
Starting point is 00:04:54 ideas of what you should do with your money. Okay. I'm like, come on, people. Just because somebody wants to get some enjoyment out of their lives and you're not in a position where you can financially or go buy a car or go take a vacation or do X, Y, and Z,
Starting point is 00:05:13 that don't mean you should try to poo-poo on somebody else because they can. And that's the first thing. Somebody gave a million dollars. That's all? He gave a million more than you. You didn't give 10. Man, if I – no, you a million more than you you didn't give 10 man if i know you wouldn't know you wouldn't everybody always talk about if i had this this is what i would do no you don't of course not but it's easy to say it's easy to say what you would do
Starting point is 00:05:40 when you when you don't have to be put to the test to show. Man, if I had that, man, I would do X, Y, and Z. Bro, you get your income tax check and it's gone before you even see it. So when you do get a little money, you're not doing what you say you're going to do. That's what it bothers me.
Starting point is 00:06:02 I ain't got no problem with that. That says I like the area that I live in. I like where I am. You know what? I'm going to tear this down instead of going and trying to pay another three, four million dollars just for a plot of land. I could just tear this house down.
Starting point is 00:06:17 That was probably $700,000. I got a big enough plot of land. I'll be right on top of this. It's not as expensive as we may think? We're talking about Dallas. We're talking about Houston. Do you understand how inexpensive, how much bang for your buck you get in Dallas for a house?
Starting point is 00:06:37 Houston, how much bang for your buck you get for something here in Miami? Let's say a house on Star Island right now. One of them crazy houses on Star Island that costs $28, $30 million. Man, please. You get something like that in Dallas or Houston for $5. I'm talking about enormous. Huge. For 10 tops.
Starting point is 00:06:56 Yes. I'm like, what? Man, what the? Mm-hmm. Ocho, you know why it don't bother me? Because what Dak doing don't none of that come out my pocket yeah I remember and I'm sure you can attest to this
Starting point is 00:07:14 when you were younger and didn't have no money and you heard what somebody paid for a car or somebody paid for jeans or watch you're like man I would never do that and when you got some money, you could. Guess what? You was the guy that said you would never be.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Man, ain't no way in hell I'd pay $200,000 on a car. That go get me from point A to point B? Yep. A watch that tell the time? Yep. That's exactly what I'm going to do. I don't get mad at what people do with their money.
Starting point is 00:07:46 I get mad if somebody squanders somebody else's money. That's what I get. Your money, Ocho, whatever you do with the 50-11 jobs and checks, if Ocho say, you know what, I'm going to cash all these checks and I'm going to burn this money. Right. I'm going to think you're a damn fool. But that's Ocho money.
Starting point is 00:08:05 He made it. I don't get mad at people for doing with their money or choose the lifestyle that they live. Right. It ain't got nothing to do with me. I ain't losing no sleep. I don't lose sleep. I don't sleep well anyway. But I don't lose sleep about anything because guess what?
Starting point is 00:08:22 Oh, no. I ain't worried. I ain't trying to keep up with the Joneses. Because, see, you trying to keep up with the Joneses. Because see, you try to keep up with the Joneses, the Joneses are sleeping good because they know how they're going to pay for that. You done got all this ish and you don't know how to pay for it. And you, oh, Lord. And you know what's scary? economy or just in general with that when there are people that are trying to keep up with the joneses that don't make the joneses money or don't have the kind of revenue coming in like the joneses those no you'll scare me because they will do anything anything
Starting point is 00:08:57 to be able to keep up yeah and maintain a lifestyle that they know they can't afford that that that's that scares me yes To be able to keep up and maintain a lifestyle that they know they can't afford. That scares me. Yes. Someone that is willing to do anything when it comes to women. Yeah, you're absolutely right, don't you? When it comes to women. I mean, obviously, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:15 my situation is... I'm just saying in general, women that want to look a certain way, knowing you don't make that kind of money. Yeah. Impossible. There's only one way to get it. Knowing you don't make that kind of money. Yeah. Impossible. There's only one way to get it. And you're willing to go to any length
Starting point is 00:09:30 to make sure you maintain and be able to portray that lifestyle. That's scary, huh? How'd you look? How'd you look? Hey. Can I help again? That's scary, boy.
Starting point is 00:09:44 How'd you look at those jokes? Hey. I got a couple of dollars on me. Yeah, I know. I'm with you. He was swapping those windows. I'm just saying, that type of stuff scared me. You know?
Starting point is 00:09:55 Just the thought of it. You do anything. You'll cross me. Just to be able to, you know. Man. Oh, yeah. I stay from you know, man. Oh yeah. I stay, I stay from around that boy. You're right.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Yeah. Yeah. I've just, I'm, that's how I am. I live within my means. I got what I got, man. That's all you, man. You don't wear nothing, man. I'm comfortable in this.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Y'all want, y'all want somebody to be dressed with three piece suit. Y'all want somebody to be dressed in a three piece suit y'all want somebody to be LB down I'm at the gas station you know what it's okay every blue moon it's okay to treat yourself it's okay but every
Starting point is 00:10:40 goddamn time you step out of the house you in high fashion looking like the goddamn mannequin? Come on, man. Yeah. Yeah. But there's some women like that, Ocho. They can't go out of the house unless they got on makeup,
Starting point is 00:10:55 got everything to the nine. I like... We going to a restaurant where the most expensive thing on the menu is $45. Yeah. And you got to dress like that? Oh, yeah. What you wearing? Oh, you
Starting point is 00:11:13 going to get dressed? You looking at what I'm wearing. That's it. Ta-da! What? This is all I got for you. Right. And the food going to taste the same. Sunday was another rough outing for the Cleveland Browns offense,
Starting point is 00:11:32 but there won't be any changes made to the quarterback position. Kevin Stefanski told reporters Monday that he won't be benching Deshaun Watson in favor of Jameis Winston. Following the 2016 loss to the Eagles, I think there were moments, obviously, that yesterday, I think Deshaun gives us the best chance to win. You're not winning. Continues to give us the best chance to win, and
Starting point is 00:11:52 we need to play really good offensive football at his position, and really at every other position to be successful. What you thinking? Let's think from a business standpoint. You understand how those owners are thinking, and you thinking, huh? What you thinking? Let's think from a business standpoint. You understand how those owners are thinking, and
Starting point is 00:12:07 you know Kevin Stefanski doesn't pull the strings on that puppet. If I'm paying somebody that kind of money, he's going to play, even if things aren't going well. I'm going to try to get my money's worth until I can't no more.
Starting point is 00:12:24 I'm paying the guy $45 million. I'm paying the other guy $5 to $7 million. It doesn't make sense. Why would I put him on the bench making $45 million? Why would they make a change? Him saying
Starting point is 00:12:40 Deshaun Watson gives us our best chance to win, is he wrong or is he right? What do you think? Do you think Jameis Winston gives the Cleveland Browns a better chance to win at the quarterback position? How about this? He gives you your best chance to win, but you're not winning.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Okay. So how good of a chance is it? You think maybe it's the flashes of brilliance that you see? Just the flashes aren't as consistent as it used to be? He says, I think Deshaun gives us the best chance to win. Continue to give us the best chance to win. We need to play really good offensive football at his position and really good football at every other position to be successful.
Starting point is 00:13:21 No crap, Sherlock. Wow. Yeah. That is some great coaching that is man that is some motivational stuff right there we need the quarterback to play good right and we need to play good at every other position well the quarterback has to play the best because he got the ball in his hands all the time he has the ball in his hands every place So his decision making and everything he decides to do with the ball impacts and affects everyone else around him, especially offensively. Hell, even defensively. Because if you make mistakes, then they
Starting point is 00:13:53 always on the goddamn field on the defensive side of the ball. I agree. Yeah. He's not playing well, Ocho. Yeah. But you keep saying, Ocho. Me? I didn't say. I'm just saying. I wascho. Yeah. But you keep saying, Ocho. Oh, I didn't. So he gives you the.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Me, I didn't say. I'm just saying. I was asking your thoughts on what you think. Should they make a change? Ocho, after three years. Yes, sir. I mean, it's tough. And I get it.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Yeah. When you invest that kind of money. Yeah. A lot of times, it's just like anything. It's just like with an investment. When you put a lot of money into an investment, Ocho, it's hard to get off it. Yeah. It's hard to get off it, Ocho, because you want to see some kind of dividend.
Starting point is 00:14:33 Yeah. You want to see some type of return on your investment. Yes. Sometimes you got to cut your losses. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming,
Starting point is 00:16:01 how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Starting point is 00:16:43 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions. In just a second, I'm going to ask... I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn.
Starting point is 00:17:21 In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran-Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see. Muhammad Ali was never afraid to express himself loudly and boldly and stays true to form in Ali and Me, an eight-part Audible original. Guided by his own words, this series explores Ali's life and legacy through never-before-heard audio recordings and discussions with those who knew him best. Muhammad had this real sense of his own personal values and principles, things he believed in, his own sense of conviction,
Starting point is 00:18:27 those convictions never wavered. Hosted by Muhammad's wife, Lani Ali, and his close friend, award-winning broadcaster, John Ramsey, Ali and Me goes beyond the boxing ring to delve deeply into Ali's extraordinary life through conversations with Billy Crystal, Mike Tyson, Rosie Perez, Common, Will Smith, and Bob Costas. It created a North Star for me of how I want to be in the world, you know. As a child, as a young person, he gave credence to my audacity. There's no debate that this is the greatest global sports figure of our lifetime.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Listen to Ali and me now on audible. After Kyle McCord threw 354 yards and four touchdowns in week one and a win over Ohio, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown said he planned to send a bottle of champagne to Ohio State's Ryan Day for a liar McCord to hit the transfer portal. Today, McCord threw for 381 yards, four touchdowns, and an upset win over number 23 Georgia Tech. McCord is the first ACC quarterback to throw for 350 yards and four scores
Starting point is 00:19:43 in consecutive games since Kenny Pickett did it in three straight games for Pitt in 2021. McCord was widely cast as the fall guy Ohio State's inability to beat Michigan last season and the Buckeyes move to Kansas State transfer Will Howard. They paid good
Starting point is 00:20:00 money to get Will Howard too. What? You know the numbers? I just want to know the numbers. They say that Ohio State got a $20 million roster. Hold on. You really think they got a $20 million roster or people just throwing that number out there?
Starting point is 00:20:15 The going rate for a top quarterback is somewhere between $800 and $1.2 million. That's for a quarterback. Receivers garnered somewhere between four and eight hundred thousand what? yep well can you imagine
Starting point is 00:20:33 boy being 16, 17 getting eight, four, eight eight and you show them numbers I'm the only guy, I'm a go, when I go when I went to one of those D1 schools you know Joe, getting the projects for one month, after that them numbers. I'm the only guy. I'm going to go. When I went to one of those D1 schools, Ocho, in the projects for one month.
Starting point is 00:20:49 After that, Granny, get that stuff up out of there. Let's go. We out of there. Ain't no more buying the sausages. Ain't no potted meat. Ain't no more soggy-ass cornflakes. Oh, we eating good, Granny. $800,000 for a receiver? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:09 I mean, it was reported that uh what you call him got excess of a couple of million dollars addison when he left pitt jordan you remember he was the belitnikoff award winner he leaves pitt and goes to us right so you know it took a number to pry him away hey boy that's that's crazy when you when you think about it because i'm thinking to be thinking about me being that young getting that kind of money i mean even though i i did make it to the league but i'm just saying as a freshman no no man i'm just i'm just i can't and i would still open up uh crackerjack boxes man excited about the prize i'm finna get out of there all i know all i know is granny ain't got nothing to worry about yeah yeah most definitely did you have wait whoa whoa whoa whoa
Starting point is 00:21:57 wait a minute did you have that same mindset when you were that young oh yeah oh yeah my whole thing oh joe only thing i ever thought about get granny out of that that's it but you know most kids don't think like that when they're that young you know that yeah so you you you you'll you'll it's it's amazing what going to the bathroom in 10 degrees outside okay it's amazing yeah When it's 100 degrees and the mosquitoes lighten you. Right. Okay, but see, that's different because circumstance. Yes!
Starting point is 00:22:32 Because of circumstance, it makes you think a different way if you got some money. You gotta take you gotta take raid out there try to put a cloud around you so the mosquitoes don't come tear you up. Yeah, man! Man, they have come tear you up. Yeah, man. Man, they have your pride on you.
Starting point is 00:22:47 Oh, man. If you're from the South, y'all know what I'm talking about. We got no mosquitoes. They call them gallant dippers because they drink a gallon of blood. They hit you. Yeah, they get a gallon up at you. Oh, just think about that, man. Could you imagine being at age 17, 18, going to college, going to Alabama,
Starting point is 00:23:08 going to Georgia, and being so good that they're willing to pay you $700,000, $800,000 before you even sniff the NFL? Shiloh making $4 million, $5 million. Okay, I know about that. Arch Manning was on the bench. He did $ and a half million he's a backup already he make a three and a half already he didn't touch the field that was last year
Starting point is 00:23:32 three and a half again this year yes you promising top recruits nope nope you know top five guys that's coming out of high school position oh they're probably getting somewhere between half a mil and a mil out the top. That's at the minimum. That's men. So all the money is coming from the boosters, specific boosters. So how do they, how do,
Starting point is 00:23:56 I understand paying them, but how do they get the money back? How do they? They write it off because the guy, you got to pay taxes on that money. Okay. Okay. Oh, ain't no free money yeah yeah the first thing you do if you go get that kind of money you need to go get you an accountant so you don't get yourself jammed up because you don't keep all that 1.5 me no no all these free oh can come here and eat free and all that stuff. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Hey, they writing that off.
Starting point is 00:24:29 You better make sure. You're dating a woman. You've been dating her for two or three years. And you're thinking about all the money and everything you've invested in this individual. And you just, and you keep on, you keep on trying, you keep on trying. The thing just don't seem to be working out and going the way you'd like it to go in the right direction. But you keep thinking about all the time you spent, all the money you spent invested in this individual. Are you going, are you going to shelf her?
Starting point is 00:24:56 Are you going to say, you know what? I don't want, I don't want to do this no more. You know why? Let me tell you why. Because you don't want her to be what you think she can be with somebody else when you've invested all that in her. See, that's why a lot of teams don't want to get upset player. Because what if he goes and be somewhere else what we thought he could be here? You done bought five, 10, 15 YSL, Louis, Hermes, Gucci bags, Balenciaga. You done bought five ten fifteen ysl louis hermes gucci bags balenciaga you done bought a whip
Starting point is 00:25:29 she won't do right damn but what does she do right over there but think about this don't think about this what if you cut your losses forget the bags and everything you bought because you can get that back right and then if she does leave and you get rid of that think about it not being that's an expense that is no longer on your on your tab it's no longer it's no longer on your plate and that's okay i get it that's okay i get it but a lot of people don't think like that because like you said you made a heavy investment it's just like you buy a stock or you buy an investment property. If you don't want to get off it, Ocho, because you thought this was the run property.
Starting point is 00:26:12 This was going to be your Netflix. This was going to be your Google. This was going to be your Apple. Right. Your Uber, whatever the case may be, that was going to be your time to hit a lick. And that's the funny thing. When it comes to investing, that's something that we always need to learn and understand. Everything we invest in, we're not going to get a return on. Everything we invest in, we're not going to get a return on. So you have to know when to cut your
Starting point is 00:26:36 losses. And it's okay. Because at some point, that loss for you becomes somebody else's responsibility. Because they ain't doing right by you. nine times out of ten, they ain't going to do right by the next motherfucker either. So if a certain individual, if a certain player looks a certain way, it ain't like all of a sudden they're going to go to another team and they're going to be magic and all of a sudden turn around and be somebody else
Starting point is 00:26:58 that they're not. Silver medal winning 4x4 mixed relay, Vernon Norwood, Bryce Dedman, Kalen Brown, and Samir Little. Vernon, I'm going to start with you. You're the elder statesman here. Going into that, did you guys think you could set the world record in qualifying?
Starting point is 00:27:16 Or what was your strategy going in? Obviously, you want to qualify. But did you think world record was a possibility? 100%. We already talked about it before. Once we saw the lineup and the talent that we had, we was like, oh yeah, world record was a possibility? 100%. We already talked about it, like, before. Once we saw the lineup and the talent that we had, we was like, oh, yeah, world record gone.
Starting point is 00:27:32 Because we knew world record was going to win the race anyway. So, we, like, we just go out there and do our thing. I mean, from me starting it off, getting it to Shamir, to Bryce, to KK, I mean, I already knew world record was gone. And then we heard y'all comment about, you know, y'all coming out with this cash. I said, oh, look look let's see across the line i said oh yeah i'm gonna i'm gonna hit him up right now tell that boy hey guys did y'all know bryce that when he got back to his room he dm'd me about run me my money yes that man did heard you. Yes! That man DM'd me. You should tell him, Bryce.
Starting point is 00:28:07 You should tell him, Bryce. I don't know. No, you, bro. No, I said tell him. Run me my money. I heard y'all was talking about it one time on the show. I was like, man, hold up, man. Let me see them boys come through their world. I'm like, them, hold up, man. Let me see them boys come through the world.
Starting point is 00:28:25 I'm like, them boys from around the way. So I know they're going to come through. And then y'all actually came down. I was like, damn, y'all some real ones, man. I appreciate y'all. And then there was a mutual friend. He hit up a mutual friend and said, man, I'm trying to get an uncle. I don't know if he's going to see my DM.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Hey, y'all good as my hood. Y'all come down to Baton Rouge. Hey, y'all good as my hood. Y'all come down to Baton Rouge. I got y'all. Oh, man. No, guys, we just want to show you guys some love. The crew at Nightcap here, myself and Ocho, and all of our subscribers and listeners and followers, man, we wanted to show you guys that we really appreciate what you do,
Starting point is 00:29:00 the hard work, the sacrifices, the time away from your family, the times that you don't feel like training, that you go out there and you push yourself farther than you ever thought you could. And so for us at NICAP, it was easy because to run a world record, that means everybody contributed. Everybody did their part. And we wanted here at NICAP wanted to say thank you. Not only for your effort, but for what you've given before that race, because the race is the easy part.
Starting point is 00:29:29 The hard part is the training up to the race. And so from us, from the bottom of our heart here at nightcap, thank each and every one of you. Every last one of you. Make sure y'all get some mcdonald's with that money now man burning the way bernie hit me up burning money nah i ain't rocking like that man i'm chilling i'm chilling i'm chilling i'm chilling man adrian peterson who earned more than 100 million dollars during his 15-year nfl career
Starting point is 00:30:02 he now faces a debt in excess of $12 million, and he's been ordered to turn over his assets to pay for it. According to the USA Today, a Houston judge has ordered AP to surrender property to satisfy the debt. Constables have been ordered to seize assets from his home. A court-appointed receiver has accused Peterson of playing a shell game in order to avoid payment.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Ocho. Ocho. Ocho, man. AP. Bro, you made $100 million. And then he borrowed, I think he borrowed like 5 million in like two years, the interest.
Starting point is 00:30:47 So when you borrow money like that, you got to play like 20, 25% interest, Ocho. So it went from 5 million to like 8 million in three years. It might be 50% interest. Ocho. But then you throw a birthday party and you fly everybody. I wish I might have a birthday party and you fly everybody. I wish I might have a birthday party.
Starting point is 00:31:09 And I fly y'all in to come to my party? Where they do that at? He got camels. He got tigers. You thought he was talking for real. Man, listen, you know how I am. The chat know, hell, the goddamn world know how I am when it comes to finances.
Starting point is 00:31:30 And I don't play that. I don't play that. Listen, him being in this situation is very unfortunate. I wish him well and hoping everything turns out in his favor. I'm not sure how this works. It ain't going to turn out in his favor. He owe $12 million. I mean...
Starting point is 00:31:48 And in front of the looks of it, he ain't got it. Yeah. I hope so. I hope he does. I hope he has some. I hope he has some. How you take out a loan to throw yourself a birthday party?
Starting point is 00:32:04 You better go down there and get about five or six dozen crabs and some shrimp and say, here you go. Who takes out a loan to throw themselves a birthday party unless you're what? Trying to impress the party goers.
Starting point is 00:32:20 I don't know. That's crazy, man. A hundred? Damn. I don't know. That's crazy, man. 100? Damn, man. Ocho, how you... Ocho, you throw a birthday party and you bring in... What'd he fly in?
Starting point is 00:32:38 300 guests? He flew in 300 guests. I don't know 300 people. And I'm 56. I don't know 300 people and I'm 56 I don't know 300 people and I damn sure don't know enough of people to fly their ass to my event right
Starting point is 00:32:55 man you think I know 300 buckets or 300 burns hell no that's messed up man he flew in 320 people Ocho check this out Ocho
Starting point is 00:33:12 but guess how he flew him first class first class oh is there any way oh can you just file bankruptcy? Hey, if you ain't got no money, it's hard to file bankruptcy if you ain't got no money.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Because guess what? Your credit going to be shot. So what you going to put up for collateral? Damn. I mean the more people you say hey can we get this the more women you say what I'm gonna get it with ass and mouth we ain't got no money
Starting point is 00:33:53 what I'm gonna pay with it what I'm gonna pay with it what am I going to pay to get what you're asking for so if he doesn't have the thing is the best thing to have if you don't have money is to have great credit. You can have F-ed up credit if
Starting point is 00:34:09 you got money. You see how that works? Yeah. Boy, and the people don't care. And think about it. Anytime you try to buy something, what are they going to do? They're going to pull them credit scores. Credit scores? Equifax, Empyrean.
Starting point is 00:34:26 What's the other one? Experian. So at this point in general. They got three of them. Now, some might be a little higher than the other one, but I feel very good. Mine all start with an eight. I ain't going to tell you what else they got.
Starting point is 00:34:41 You know what comes after that. But I feel very comfortable. All three of mine start with an eight. Right. But okay. But I feel very comfortable. All three of mine start with an A. Right. But okay. But I got a little bit of money. I ain't saying I'm the richest man in the world, but I got great credit and I do have a little cash.
Starting point is 00:34:55 But I'm not doing anything to impress anybody. I'm not buying no $10 million home. I'm not buying no million dollar car. I'm not buying flying million dollar car. I'm not buying people in. Oh. I used to have a party in Glenville. Hey, y'all can drive in.
Starting point is 00:35:14 Hey, you're welcome to come. You ain't got to bring nothing. I got all the alcohol. I got 100 pound of crab leg, 100 pound of shrimp. We got like 200 hot dogs, 200 hamburgers. We got like 200 hot dogs, 200 hamburgers, all of that. Hey, have at it.
Starting point is 00:35:30 But to get there the best way you can. Preferably I prefer you to walk because you're going to be drunk by the time you leave. Nobody have no accident. Knock on wood, thank God, we'll watch it over. Nobody got no DUI, nobody got harm. But I ain't impressing nobody, man. Y'all know I got money. I'm playing
Starting point is 00:35:45 in the NFL. I'm the highest paid XYZ. But I'm not finna impress nobody. A fiend birthday party. Blue jeans, t-shirt, shorts, flip-flops, sandals, whatever. That's the fiend. I don't even celebrate my
Starting point is 00:36:04 birthday. I just say me a little prayer I'm glad to see another year yes give me a little Starbucks give me a cigar man and kick my feet up I just feel bad Ocho that people come in and I mean some people never
Starting point is 00:36:20 see a million dollars in their lifetime and I get it. When you say he made over $100 million, you figure Uncle Sam will take 50% of that. So that's $50 million. Let's just say, Ocho, I throw $25 million. I just throw $25. You still got to have $25 left.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Even after your agent take his cut back then, they take, what, 3%, 4%? I don't know, 5% if they paying for everything nah and people like oh kids don't listen here's the thing yes my grandfather told my brother and I we were young he said the worst kind of poor you can be
Starting point is 00:36:57 is child poor don't let that go over y'all head people that's an 18 year expense that's damn near as long as your mortgage now just imagine your mortgage you got one because there ain't a people there ain't very many people that have seven mortgages so you start having five six seven eight nine ten kids okay and they're not by one guess what Ocho that's 18 years I know I done done the math oh shit I done done it too plenty times okay so you know what that mean that's right that's right Shannon you ain't went on

In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir? No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask Attorney General.
Starting point is 00:40:23 I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see. your podcasts. through never-before-heard audio recordings and discussions with those who knew him best. Muhammad had this real sense of his own personal values and principles,
Starting point is 00:41:31 things he believed in, his own sense of conviction. Those convictions never wavered.
Starting point is 00:42:10 There's no debate that this is the greatest global sports figure of our lifetime. Listen to Ali and Me, now on Audible. Dixon, my ass. Oh, we grew up like good times but in the deep south yes yes I mean yes spam I've made uh volume of sausages uh bologna
Starting point is 00:42:36 ate all that I'm talking about the tube we ain't getting no Oscar the slices nah you had to get that big tube with that big thick ass red cases. Don't!
Starting point is 00:42:55 Dang! Fry that thing up, and you got to put in the hole, because you know that bubble going to come up there, Ocho. Stick that fork in there and make that bubble, pop that bubble, fry that thing, put that thing in the library. That was back then, Ocho, I would eat mayonnaise there and make that bubble. Pop that bubble. Fry that thing. Put that thing for light bread. That was back then, Ocho. I would eat mayonnaise. I don't eat no mayonnaise, nah. You eat mayonnaise. I can tell
Starting point is 00:43:12 you, man. I can tell you eat mayonnaise. I warm the syrup and dip the syrup, dip the bread in the wheat. I get Wonder Bread. You got Wonder Bread? Man, you can't feel no damn Wonder Bread. That shit was high.
Starting point is 00:43:30 Didn't I just tell you the bread was $3.40 sunbeam? It's real soft and buttery like. Yeah, you know it was. But if you bought a loaf of that, guess what you're going to be wondering? When you going to get some more bread? Because that'll be it.
Starting point is 00:43:47 But you couldn't buy no bread for no... That bread was like a dollar. A dollar nineteen for one loaf. Man, man, for it wasn't going to happen. Didn't I just tell you bread was three loaves for a dollar? And you think we're going to let us splurge, let us waste one loaf of bread for $1.19 and we can get three loaves for man please
Starting point is 00:44:11 yeah I wonder when you gonna get some more bread cause that's what you'd have been wondering yeah it was nice, the nice packaging Captain John Durst, you know Captain John Durst coming in that brown, that brown wrapping, you ever seen Captain John Durst I know y'all knowst coming in that brown wrapping. You ever seen Captain John Durst? I know y'all know in the chat.
Starting point is 00:44:27 Y'all know what I'm talking about. I don't like no wheat bread. It's like you said, buttery. You don't like wheat bread? No. I ain't know what kind of bread. We called it white bread or lightning bread. I told you the story, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:44:42 I asked the lady. I was in Colorado. I said, man, where's the light bread? She said, excuse me, sir? I said, light bread? You mean white bread? No, lightning bread. She's like, sir, this is the only bread that we have.
Starting point is 00:44:59 I said, this is what I was talking about. I don't know what the hell you thought I was saying. It's light bread. Ocho, you know I got bad now because she's looking at me like I don't know what I'm talking about. I don't know what the hell you thought I was saying. It's light bread. I don't know. You know, I got bad now because she's looking at me like I don't know what I'm talking about. But in the South, we called it lightning bread. Ain't nobody calling it white bread. I didn't know what hell
Starting point is 00:45:15 white bread was. Light bread. I know I ain't the only one. Y'all try to make it seem like I'm the only one that called it light bread. I know y'all parents and grandparents called it like bread too. Uh, master time. It says, I'll never forget that.
Starting point is 00:45:31 I couldn't get a loan because my address was weird and I couldn't be directly linked to my bank account. Even though I have a seven 80, a seven 80 credit score. I was so mad. Never again. That's a good credit score. It's serious.
Starting point is 00:45:48 I don't think people understand how important credit is because anytime, listen, just the hypotheticals they always do on Twitter. Anytime I see people say a certain amount of money or credit, people always pick the money. They always pick the money. Credit. They'll make you put all that cash down to get it
Starting point is 00:46:08 and see I'd go get down to anything with no money down with good credit absolutely maybe they just have a fascination with just having money instead not knowing you can damn near get anything
Starting point is 00:46:24 if your credit is on point. I think that's why it's so difficult. And they, they require you to have a certain level of discipline consistently showing that you willingly, willingly able and can pay things on time. Yeah. But you know what I hate Ocho when they send you like this is not a bill yeah it is
Starting point is 00:46:52 you send it to me yeah it is a bill I'm gonna have to pay it I can pay it now or I can pay it at the end but either way I gotta pay it hey yeah when that Verizon bill hit Pay it. Hey. Yeah. When that Verizon bill hit, your Verizon bill will be due in two weeks.
Starting point is 00:47:11 You pay it right now. Pay it now. I pay it right there. Hey, thank you. Because as soon as it show up on my thing, I hit Shelley. Hey, Verizon due.
Starting point is 00:47:27 Thank you for your payment hey no ain't nothing I ain't got no bill I'm talking about not even three days old the minute it hit it's gone I ain't never be in that situation again Ocho that's a bad situation to be in
Starting point is 00:47:44 I remember when I first bought my Rolex, Ocho. Yeah. I had a stainless steel one my brother brought me for graduation. Yes, I did. But I wanted a presidential. And I walked into the store, and I never get due name Bob. And I said, man, can I look at that watch? He took it out from behind the counter, set it down on the thing,
Starting point is 00:48:05 said, go ahead, try it on. And I looked at him because all the other places, they never did that. Oh, just gave it to you and let you try it on? He just gave it. He had the little black thing. You know, they set it on the thing. They don't set it on the glass. He set it on that little black thing.
Starting point is 00:48:22 He said, okay, go ahead. Oh, he knew who you was. That's why. He had no idea who he was because I was like a second year player. He had no idea who I was. He looked at me and I'm looking at him. He looked at me. I'm looking at him.
Starting point is 00:48:39 I was like, you trust me? He said, yeah. He said, you wouldn't have came. He said, I'm just judging by your mannerisms. Yes, sir. It never even crossed my mind that you was going to try to take off running.
Starting point is 00:48:55 I bought it on the spot. For real? I did. How much it was? How much it was? Back then, I think it was about $15,500. That's it?
Starting point is 00:49:11 That's it. I bet. What'd they cost now? I bet it's about $39,000. I'm sure. That was 33 years ago. So I'm sure the price of a Rolex has gone up substantially from that point on. But it's nice to know that, you know, hey, I'm a black kid. I'm a black man in a high
Starting point is 00:49:29 end, you know, store. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I mean, because I've had people, you know, not want to show you anything. I've had people walk by. That happened to you before? Yeah, sure. Women clutch their purse. I'm like, look at you, little lady, I'll buy you. Ocho. Yes, sir. You couldn't lady, I'll buy you. Ocho.
Starting point is 00:49:47 Yes, sir. You couldn't go to Dubai. You couldn't go overseas. Spirit don't go that far. Who don't? Greyhound or the Airways don't travel that far. Oh,
Starting point is 00:49:55 the Megabus go there? You been on the Megabus before? Yeah, but that ain't Spirit. I know, Megabus cheap though. No, ain't cheap.
Starting point is 00:50:04 You should do that. I know you don't like road trip. Take the Megabus somewhere. Ain't nothing cheap. Ain't nothing cheap about going overseas. Nah. I mean, listen, depending on how early you buy it now. Even if you buy I mean, you go United Emirates
Starting point is 00:50:19 it's still going to be $30,000, $40,000. How much? $30,000, $40,000. Nah, I don30,000, $40,000. Nah, I'm going to... Listen, I'm flying. Look up a ticket. Look up a ticket. I ain't sitting up here. United Emirates.
Starting point is 00:50:30 Hey, chat. Chat, how much a ticket? Just randomly. Just give me the price of a ticket. Not business. Just regular. Regular seat. How much it is?
Starting point is 00:50:48 I know the chat ain't laughing about the Megabus don't act like y'all ain't been on the Megabus before y'all too rich for me nah man you take Spirit they have to turn around and come back they run out of gas you don't have to turn around and come back. They run out of gas. You don't have to turn around.
Starting point is 00:51:08 We just land and get some gas. On United Emirates, what's first class? See, why you got to go first class? Why you can't fly coach? See, $1,500. That ain't bad. Dwayne Jackson in the chat, he just said it's $1,500. That ain't bad.
Starting point is 00:51:26 $1,600 to Dubai. Oh, no. See? $24,000. First class is $24,000. You don't need first class, Unc. If you're sitting there coach, you get there at the same time. Why spend $40,000? You can spend $1,500.
Starting point is 00:51:39 You're going to be back there funky. I'm going to take me a shower. Take me a couple of showers. I'm going to give me some good old hot food. Hey, I can get some hot food before we get on the plane. I can take to take me a shower. Take me a couple of showers. I'm going to get me some good old hot food. Hey, I can get some hot food before we get on the plane. I can take a shower before I leave the house. I'm paying $1,500 for my seat
Starting point is 00:51:51 and it's already roomy. The seats is roomy already on Emirates Airlines. And guess what? I'm going to become a member of my hot club. You can't do that. Hey, I don't need to be a member of my hot club when I can get in before we even board. No, that ain't the same.
Starting point is 00:52:07 That ain't the same. It's the same. Because what's going to happen is you're going to be on the no-fly list. That's like saying scoring a touchdown in practice is the same as scoring one in the game. It's different. You're going to be on the no-fly list when you get caught. Now, you're going to get caught.
Starting point is 00:52:19 We're just going to be, you know, you're going to be on that side. Just be on the side. Just lay in there. Have them blank it over and everything. You don't even know how to do it, laying there. Have them blanking over and everything. You don't even know how to do it, Ocho. Nah. Nah.
Starting point is 00:52:29 Uh-uh. Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. Big shadow going to tear it up. Big shadow going to tear it up. Hey. You scared, Ocho. You scared.
