You good?
I'm just making sure you good.
You sure?
What's really going on?
I'm making sure you good. You You sure? What's really going on?
I'm making sure he good.
Do you want to coach?
Do I want to coach?
I do not want to coach unless it's my kids.
I would be willing to do that if it was my kids.
But to put actual time.
To put actual time. You understand the time that goes into it.
Yes.
A lot of time.
It's a lot of time that goes into it.
For me as a player, I put a lot of time into it. But as a coach, you're putting even that goes into it. Yes. A lot of time. It's a lot of time that goes into it. Like for me as a player, I put a lot of time into it.
But as a coach, you're putting even more time into it.
No.
And that's not something that I'm willing to do.
My love for the game is not that great.
Especially, you know, if I'm playing it, I'm going to give you everything I got.
Right.
I'm going to be there from dusk till dawn.
You know, I'm going to do everything I need to do to take care of my body.
But just, you know, coaching it,
I don't have that left for me.
And then you know what it took to be great.
And then you coach and you see guys
who are jiving around.
Listen, that's something that I would have a hard time with,
especially when you're looking at what they could be
if they put in, you know in the time, the effort.
And that's not just on the field.
It's in the weight room.
It's in the offseason, especially now where you don't have much practice
and all that.
You've got a lot of guys with all these soft tissue injuries.
They want to point to the field, the turf, and all that.
What you need to point to is guys aren't training like they used to.
You aren't putting those forces on your body in the offseason or you're not getting it leading up into the season.
You only got three games. Guys play, you know, 20 snaps for the whole preseason.
And then, you know, week one come and you're like, hey, give me 100 miles an hour, 65 plays.
And you wonder why dudes are tearing and getting all these soft tissue injuries.
It's because they're not preparing their body to go out and play a season.
When I trained, my hardest thing was the offseason.
Like I put in more work.
I put in more strain on my body than I did in any practice.
But that's the thing, though, because when you look at it, we played in the preseason.
You might only play 10 pre snaps in the first game. And then you went to 20. Then you went to the half, maybe we played in the preseason. You might only play 10 pre-snaps in the first game.
Yep.
And then you went to 20.
Then you went to the half, maybe a series in the third quarter.
You were off the fourth game.
Third game.
Third game.
You got three quarters.
That was a three-quarter.
Yep.
That was the actual game.
Yep.
And then the fourth game, you didn't see nothing.
That's who they trying to figure out who they go keep,
who they going to get rid of, the guys that are on the board.
Not guys.
The key guys don't play any preseason.
At all.
Yeah.
And then you throw
him out there and you say, hey, give me
65, you know, 70 snaps at 100
miles an hour. And you wonder why
the body is breaking down.
It's fatigue. The more tired
you get, now they're dehydrated. You're talking about
10% less here, 10% less here
of what they can output, but they're trying to force
their body to give it. Something has to give.
And it's usually soft tissue.
I like it.
What's next?
It's early.
It's early in the year.
We're only in February 2025.
We got a long way to go.
What's next for Devo?
What's next, man?
I've been trying to get into the acting thing,
but they just really don't know.
They don't mess with your boy like that.
You know what I'm saying?
You know what happened?
You taking classes?
I'm taking,
I'm good, man. I'm real good.
I'm trying to tell you, man. Check out Heels. I'm good.
Now, I was actually on a whole series
now. Check out Heels. It's on
Netflix, actually.
But I think I might
have upset them by, you know, not taking that shot.
So, you know,
I rejected it. Coke.
Yeah, I rejected that. So I was out of it, you know,
when they mandated it.
So, you want to do that?
You willing to relocate, McAllen?
Why I got to relocate?
That's where the gigs are.
I understand.
I can come out there and do the gigs.
I don't need to live there.
But I need...
Like, see, I got to call you.
See, I need to...
Hey, James, come in and get this read for this part today.
I can send you the read.
All you do is tell, send me, send me what it is you want me to read or record it.
Nah, nah, nah. You might be splicing.
They need you in person, though.
I ain't willing to move like that.
Man, you try to be a superstar or not? You try to be the rock or what?
Yeah, you can be the next rock.
No, I can be far better than rock. I just ain't got the opportunity.
I like that.
You see what rock
move to Kelly? Rock move to Kelly? I got the opportunity. I like that. You see what rock moved to Cali.
Rock moved to Cali? I'm not moving
to Cali, man.
The traffic is horrendous.
Stay away from the 405. You'll be fine.
The traffic is horrendous, man.
Go to the valley. The cost of living is out of control.
True. Man, you know what I could get
in Pittsburgh for what they want in L.A.?
Yeah, I know. I could have
the city.
Oh, yeah, for what a house cost out there? Oh, yeah, for sure.
No question.
Man, they think you the
Roonies.
For what you build in
Pittsburgh, for what you pay for in Arizona.
Ocali, man, absolutely.
But I thought you wanted to use
in the fight.
Into the what? The fight game. No, I'm not were in the fight. Into the what?
The fight game.
No, I'm not really into the fight game.
My son is into the fight game.
Like, what you talking about?
Like, fighting like...
MMA.
With Fizz?
MMA.
Yeah, he likes to do MMA.
How old is he now?
17.
Okay.
But I ain't letting him do nothing thus far.
Why?
Because he got to gain weight to play ball.
Why don't you spar?
I ain't got no weight.
I'll spar you.
Anytime, man.
No, for real.
Why don't you spar?
Oh, I'm dancing anytime.
Nah, he think it's a game.
This shit different over here, man.
Hey, you sweet on that.
You know what's funny?
After I did my exhibition,
and I had a few fights,
a few local fights in Miami,
my hands are registered now.
They registered with who?
I didn't have, with Vegas.
I ain't had no choice but to register.
What you mean?
You know with who.
Stop playing with me, man.
Fuck.
Come across this table, cross your head, boy.
Come on, man.
All you need to do is swing.
I'll take you to anything else.
Really?
That's it, man. Really?
That's it.
You want a box of that or MMA?
Oh, I'm MMA all day.
I don't care.
He can kick all he want to.
I don't need to kick. What you going to do? All I need to do is grab you. You ain't going to grab shit.? Oh, I'm MMA all day. I don't care. He can kick all he want to. I don't need to kick.
What you going to do?
All I need to do is grab you.
You ain't going to grab shit.
Nigga, I'll beat your ass.
You got me in the ass.
I'm going to choke your life out you.
They're going to have to choke me out to get you to let go.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Help me understand something.
You tell me we get in the octagon, right?
Me, you get in the octagon.
Are you going to run?
No.
What the fuck?
Run from who?
Did I run from you when we played? Did I run from you when we played?
Did I run from anybody when we played?
No, it's no different.
I have the same mentality.
So we get an octagon.
We can make this happen.
Hold on.
We get an octagon.
You tell me you're going to try to grab me,
and you think you're going to be able to do so.
Understanding as quick as I am, with these feet,
understanding these hands, you're going to grab me.
Listen, man.
Fighting you would be like fighting my son.
You know what?
Practice.
Can you do me a favor? Yes.
As God is my will, please
make this happen so I can beat you. We gonna make it happen.

You soft, boy.
I see through all that shit.
I see through all that muscle.
Shit ain't about nothing, boy.
You got the right one.
Dog, I'm going to.
You got the right one, baby.
I'm going to try to see what he said in the chat.
Because I beat the chat ass too.
See, man, listen.
We're going to have to listen.
I'm tired. I'm not listening.
I'm Helen Keller. Don't talk to me. You're trying to make me laugh.
Laugh for what? Because whatever you smile,
we're going to be missing.
All right, bet.
You got to get it.
He asked for this. I'm going to give you. I don't bust your ass too bad. Okay. All right, bet. Nah, nah, you got to get it. Bet. You got to get it. Hey, he asked for this.
He asked for this.
Oh, I'm going to give you
anything you're looking for.
March, April, May, June, July, August.
I think August will be
about the right amount of time.
I don't need it.
I'm good now.
You better talk to him.
Hey, Ryan, I'm going to fuck him up.
Lies.
All right.
I got Debo chat.
That's fine.
You know, I want you to better get

Somebody that believe in me
That's Ocho's producer Aaron
Unfortunately Put all your money on him too Thank you. Thank you. Somebody that believe in me. That's Ocho's producer, Aaron. Okay.
Unfortunately, uh... Put all your money on him, too.
James Harrison, ladies and gentlemen.
Thank you for joining us, Deebo, man. Appreciate it.
Hey, get right. Get the knee right. Yeah, get right.
Get right.
Yeah, I know. I know.
I thought playing football was easy.
Okay.
That's gonna be the easiest money you ever made.
Okay.
Ever made.
We'll see.
You owe the money right.
Yeah, we'll see.
The money gonna pay you back for the money.
We'll see.
Yes.
That's how I know he gonna get his ass up
because he worried about the money.
No.
I'm going in for business.
You going in for business?
I'm going in for business.
What you doing after the show?
Huh?
What you doing after the show? I'm gonna go to the French Quarter and smoke a cigar. You wanna go? Tell? I'm going in for business. What you doing after the show? Huh? What you doing after the show?
I'm going to go to the French Quarter and smoke a cigar.
You want to go?
Tell me where you're going.
I'll meet you there.
Okay, bet.
We can take care of it then.
I just told you.
I just told you.
I'm going to be in the French Quarter.
I'm going to be in the French Quarter smoking a cigar.
Okay.
So whatever you want to do.
Yeah.
All right.
We got our next guest coming to the stage, Ocho.
Hey.
I ain't even shaking your hand.
Go on here, yo.
I don't need to shake your hand.
I'm taking these off.
All right, man.
Man, I see you.
Hey, I got Devo.

In the fall of 1986,
Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal
that looked like it might bring down his presidency.
Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir?
No.
It became known as the Iran-Contra affair.
And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second.
I'm going to ask Attorney General.
I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn.
In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a
scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today.
The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you.
Please do.

Muhammad Ali was never afraid
to express himself loudly and boldly
and stays true to form in Ali and Me, an eight-part Audible original.
Guided by his own words, this series explores Ali's life and legacy
through never-before-heard audio recordings and discussions with those who knew him best.
Muhammad had this real sense of his own personal values and principles, things he believed in, his own sense of conviction.
Those convictions never wavered.
Hosted by Muhammad's wife, Lani Ali, and his close friend, award-winning broadcaster, John Ramsey,
Ali and Me goes beyond the boxing ring to delve deeply into Ali's extraordinary life through conversations with Billy Crystal,
Mike Tyson, Rosie Perez, Common, Will Smith, and Bob Costas.
It created a North Star for me of how I want to be in the world, you know.
As a child, as a young person, he gave credence to my audacity.
There's no debate that this is the greatest global sports figure of our lifetime.
Listen to Ali and Me, now on Audible.
Luca released a statement.
Seven years ago, I came here as a teenager to pursue my dream of playing basketball at the highest level.
I thought I'd spend my career here and want it so badly to bring you a championship.
The love and support you've given me is more than I could ever dreamed of.
For a young kid from Slovenia coming to the U.S. for the first time, you made North Texas feel like home.
In good times and bad, from injuries to NBA finals, your support never changed. Thank you for not only sharing my
joy, our best moments, but
also lifting me up when I needed it most.
To all the organizations I work
with throughout the Dallas community,
thank you for letting me contribute to your
important work. Join you
in bringing light to those who need it.
As I start the next part
of my basketball journey, I'm leaving
a city that will always feel like home away from home.
Dallas is a special place, and Mav fans are special fans.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Luca, 7-7.
I like it.
I like it.
I like it.
He's remaining very, very, very professional.
Obviously, you don't have a choice at this point.
You know, whatever issues were going on behind the scenes, it had to be egregious.
It had to be something so bad for them to trade someone of that magnitude that is that great.
They were just in the finals last year.
They were just in the NBA finals last year.
Was he the average again? If I'm not mistaken, you know better than I do.
He averaged like 34-9-9 in the regular season.
That's crazy work.
34-9-9 in the regular season.
You take your team to the NBA finals, the following season, they trade you.
And not that you asked to be traded.
Ocho, people are dogging
Nico.
Luka became the
first player to lead the playoffs
in points, rebounds, assists,
and steals last season.
Yeah. That's crazy,
man. That's what I
kept telling Mark.
It might have some... It's my – you know what?
I don't want to say nothing because I don't want to be rude.
Listen, and this is what I told Jamal and y'all heard it.
In order for you to trade a player like this in his prime,
giving him the accolades five times he's been a first-team All-Pro
in his first six seasons.
The behavior, the attitude had to be so egregious.
He said, we're done with you.
There's no getting through to him.
And I believe what Jack was saying is that the coaches,
I believe they've tried.
I don't believe it's a lack of effort that they've tried,
but you've got to want it as bad as I want it for you.
Because if I want something more than you want it for yourself,
you're going to win out because it's you.
You know what you want.
You know what you have to do.
Because guess what?
He wanted to be an NBA player.
Ain't nobody had to take him to the practices.
Ain't nobody had to do what they had to do.
He did that because that's what he wanted.
If and when Luka wants to get in shape, if and when Luka wants to take his condition serious,
if and when Luka want to eat right, that's what he's going to do.
That's what he's going to do.
It's just like anything.
When a person makes up their mind, they got an addiction to something.
When that person makes up their mind, see, we create our
demons, only we can chase them away.
If and when he
wants that to be
an afterthought.
How do you want it to be?
You want it to be your story
or you want it to be a footnote?
Because you get to determine.
Wait a minute, but you think get to determine. Wait a minute.
But you think you slick now.
Hold on now.
Hold on.
Hold on.
I got to use that.
I got to use that.
I got to use that.
I get a prime example.
You heard what Jokic put up those numbers.
But Jokic said I was fat.
I was out of shape.
So I stopped drinking soda.
I cut back on soda.
Dropped weight.
Now he's a three-time league MVP.
Shaq is going to cut.
It's right now. it's him and Shea
Gilgis.
I would give Shea a slight lead. His team
is better. He's putting up phenomenal numbers.
Go look at Jokic's numbers
and look at what he does on a nightly basis.
I know you're not a record player, but I need you
to rewind and give me that footnote
quote again.
You want that to be your story or you want it to be a footnote in your story?
Because the thing about Ocho, it's our career.
We get to write it.
We got to be it.
You get to write the Ocho story.
I get to write the Shannon Sharp story.
But that was a good one.
Like I said,
everybody knows how I feel about
Luka. Luka, my guy.
I gave him the name Baby Bird. He's like I
said, when LeBron leaves, he's going to probably be
my favorite player. No question about it.
Because my favorite player was
Larry Bird. He's the closest thing
for that type of player that I've seen to Bird.
And I just, like Jack said, Ocho, he cost himself a –
now he was eligible to get $345.
Now the max he can get is $229.
That's real money.
I mean, you got to think about it, huh?
And listen, what can you get with $345 you can't give a 229 I want that I
want all that or y'all would all that oh let me think about Ocho this dude was in line to get 70
million a year and in five years Luca would been 30. He'd have been eligible to get
400.
Another one.
That's crazy. Maybe more.
That's crazy.
But this might be a wake-up call.
I hope so.
Sometimes it takes something like this.
Sometimes it takes something like this.
I wouldn't say humble you.
Maybe humble might be the right word
because we don't know
what's going on behind the scenes.
Obviously, you're not being humble
if they're willing to trade you at 25
with the type of production
you're putting up.
This might be a humble moment.
And I hope it pisses him off.
Yeah.
Because he might get a different Luka.
You know, a pissed off Luka
might be worse than the Luka
that was chilling, drinking beer, you know,
playing around. The man had a 60 point, the man
had a 60 point 20 rebound triple double.
Man, stop playing.
The dude is, is, is,
but see, Ocho, when you
in the profession, I keep telling people,
but they tell me I don't know what I'm talking about.
Y'all will listen now.
People will tolerate you until they can replace you.
It can be sports.
It can be in a relationship.
Treat your significant other like crap
and let them run across a person
that'll treat them better.
You gone.
Yeah.
Oh, let me do it.
As long as I'm doing my job.
That's not the way it works.
Now, if you want to be however you want to be,
create your own company and you create a dress code.
You create coming to work, doing however you want to be.
But as long as you punch that clock for somebody else,
literally, figuratively, you got to do it.
Ain't no other way around it.
Ain't no other way around it.
Ain't no other way around it. Y'all get way around it. Ain't no other way around it.
Y'all get mad all you want to, but I'm just telling you the facts.
Yeah.
And people that don't understand that,
you have to ask yourself, why don't they understand it?
Why don't they get it?
25, five-time first-team All-NBA. And they said, nah, we good.
Normally, guys at that age, when they get traded, they requested a trade.
Right.
They requested it.
He didn't request it.
He didn't know anything about it.
My antenna perked up when Rick Carlislele wouldn't sign an extension do you know normally coaches
get fired doug collins got fired uh i'm trying to think who's his first coach who's doug collins
was it raftery who's uh uh michael jordan's first coach coach. But normally, if you get a guy like that, you don't not sign an extension. You
don't resign. They fire you because you're not getting the job done.
You don't walk away because you know how hard it is to get a guy like that.
Right.
Kevin who?
Lowry.
Yeah.
The writing must have been on the wall.
Mr. Carlisle saw it, you know, and he didn't want to deal with it.
I mean, as a coach, how does that really affect you if you have a player?
It's difficult now.
What he's doing on the court?
How could you still not want to be there because of that?
They're going to – it's – that's on – I hope he gets it.
I hope he figures it out, Ocho.
Because the talent is there. There's no undenying it.
But Ocho, I mean, because here's the thing, Ocho.
If you exhibit this and you're making $35 million,
what you going to do when I give you $70?
You know what happens when you give me
you give somebody more money
you know what happens
and so they just like
I'm surprised they didn't
but I think the thing is Nico like he had a
relationship with Rob Palenka
as you heard I think the thing is, Nico, he had a relationship with Rob Palenka.
As you heard, I think that was either Jack or Jamal
said Rob Palenka was Kobe's agent.
Nico Harrison
used to work for Nike.
So there's a relationship. This didn't get
out. See, if you open it up to
other teams, Ocho, it's going to get out.
The reports are Luka is being shopped.
Reports are AD is being shopped.
You see,
now, you know what, Ocho?
I'm glad this happened like this.
Now y'all see, when they start
reporting stuff, they ain't
making it up. See, y'all
quick, the media made it up.
You see how it didn't get out? Because
ain't nobody wanted it out.
Yeah, but you know why it didn't get out? Because there't nobody wanted it out. Yeah, but you know why it didn't get out?
Because there were only two teams involved.
The Dallas Mavericks
and that Los Angeles Lakers. And nobody wanted it out.
Yeah, oh yeah.
Absolutely, because I guarantee
you they kept it between two people.
Mr. Niko and
Palenka. I bet nobody else knew about it.
It's reported that Mark Cuban
didn't know about it. It's reported that Mark Cuban didn't know about it. It's reported that
Jason Kidd didn't know about it.
Anthony Davis didn't know about it.
Rich Paul didn't know about it. LeBron didn't know about it.
That's why it didn't get out.
Because they kept between two people.
The two people that had the power to get the job
done.
It's kind of
a blessing because he's like,
you know what?
We want to move him,
but hey,
at least move him to LA.
Because
everybody's opening up
the coffers.
Everybody opening it up.
What you want?
Yeah.
Give us AD
and a first round pick and Max Christie.
That's it?
Okay.
Okay.
Bet.
Bet.
Bet.
But hopefully Luka gets his condition, gets his eating habits under control,
takes it a little bit more serious.
Look, Ocho, he ain't never going to be able to sit down in a chair.
He ain't going to be Kobe.
He ain't going to be Jordan.
He ain't going to be LeBron or Kawhi in their prime.
That's not what he is.
But he's great at what he does.
But you can't, Ocho, you can't just open the door
and let the man come in the house and then talk about,
hey, man, he robbed our house.
Y'all should have locked the door.
Bro, that's your guy.
Right. That's your guy. But hopefully he figured this out, Ocho.
Ocho, people are dogging Nico Harrison for comments he made earlier.
Let's take a listen.
And I'd like to give Rob Palenka a lot of credit. You know, trades,
you guys have been around here.
Trades don't happen at the smallest level without stuff getting out.
And Rob and I were able to have, you know, really intense conversations over the course of, you know, three or four weeks.
It started out as a coffee that, you know, was more, hey, would you ever?
I don't know.
Would I?
Let me think.
You know, and then it built upon that.
And, you know, we kept it between us. We had to, we had to keep it tight. J. Kidd didn't know about it, but J. Kidd and I are aligned and we talk about archetypes and we talk about the culture
that we want to create. So I know the type of players that he likes without actually talking
to him. Hey, would you like, you know, so I know that.
And J.K. coached them when they won the championship.
So I think when you're aligned with your coach like that,
I know the type of players that he likes.
And so I felt good about it making sense
to where we're trying to go.
How does it?
Ocho, the mere fact that you's like,
hey, man, would you, Ocho, if it? Ocho, the mere fact that you're like, hey, man, would you?
Ocho, if it ever comes up, man, would you cheat on your wife?
Would you cheat on your girl?
No, I was just playing.
I was just playing.
You already put that thought out there?
You thought about it?
Yeah, yeah.
You thinking about it, Ocho?
The mere fact.
Right.
Hey, would you trade Luka?
I don't know.
What?
Nah, I'd die, man. I'd die, I wouldn't train no Luka, man.
Stop, stop.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Uh-uh.
Hey, kid, like, don't speak for me.
Hey.
Kid, like, I don't care if he 300.
All I know is he give me 30 plus 9 and 8.
Every night.
But here's the thing, that's how it doesn't get out. Oh, Joe, normally two people can keep a
secret but one normally has to be dead. Yeah, because the more because the more people you
tell and then there's a chain that you don't know
where the breach came in at because you done told so many people.
What's been your favorite celebrity come in the ring?
That you've been in the ring, you have a celebrity come in there,
you're like, man, this is pretty cool.
This is all right here.
Man, I can be honest, man.
Lil Wayne.
Really?
Like, yeah, man.
Come on, man. Man, I love him Like, yeah, man. Come on, man.
Man, I love him.
Come on, man.
We listen to him.
We listen to him since he's coming up.
You know, the Carter one.
You know, Lil Wayne.
The Carter one.
Come on, man.
The dope part is when I first started wrestling,
me and my brother came out to go DJ.
Like, that was our walkout song.
You know, in the little independent scene. wrestling me and my brother came out to go DJ like that was our walkout song and you know in
the little independent scene and just to have him you know walk me out at a big WrestleMania
on stage and fire it's like full circle yeah yeah hey I you know what I know what it feels like dude
to to have your name called out for me just to give you perspective
to come out that tunnel
you know and they call your
name when they announce the offense
and they say Shannon
Sharp or they say Chad Ochocinco
Johnson and 80,000 people
dog 70,000
60,000 whatever it may be are screaming
your name and the fans have
embraced you as the main event Jey Uso.
How does that feel, dude, to hear those chants and see the crowd rally behind you?
That actually has to be one of the greatest feelings in the world.
Man, come on, Locho.
Yes, man.
I appreciate that view.
You know why?
Because we're the only few that can see it from our eyes.
Right.
You know, because the rest of the world is looking at us.
I just told my son, I said, hey, I brought him in the ring after.
Wow.
Man, man, man, oh, sure.
Hey, hey, yeah.
Hey, I said, man, I told my son last night, man, I started,
I started, I was like, hey, man, because he knows what to do. Like, he has it. He, sure. Hey, hey, yeah. Hey, I said, I mean, I told my son last night, man, I started, I started, I was like, hey, man, you, you, he, cause he knows what to do. Like he, he has it,
he has it, man, man. I bought him in the ring and, and, and he had the people like this, like
they was going with him. I wasn't doing that. I was, but I'm, I'm telling him, I'm like, wait,
wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, you know, in the the ring you know i'm like hold on hold on wait for the beat to drop you know now i'm like okay go he's got he's got ci he's got
60 000 in his hand and i was just sitting here like this and he's over there he's over there
man but i told him when he's about to go to sleep man i told him man last night i was like man son
you did you what is that how'd that make you feel like did you see all those people he's like yeah he's like and they're like like dad like
that's a lot of people i'm like they was looking at you though you know wow man it's just a
different i appreciate it though like i wish i wish my my messages to the people. I wish you guys, I wish everyone could experience that,
what we get to experience, man.
Yeah, man, because that's kind of why it keeps us lit in the game.

One more question.
One more question.
I'm thinking about the mental part of it, right?
The mental part as far as Luka's concerned.
How is he going to react?
How is he going to, is the trade, this is a wake-up call.
Is he going to fold?
Now, two things can happen.
Most of the time, you think you're a player, you're sitting on top of the world, you feel
like you're invincible, you know, you're making good money,
you're one of the best players in the NBA. Now, all of a
sudden, you get that call. Oh, yeah, you've been traded to
the Los Angeles Lakers. Now,
what Luka are we going to get from this point going forward?
Are we getting the pissed-off Luka?
Or are we getting the Luka that's going to fold under the
pressure? We don't know that Luka that you're talking
about folding under pressure. All he's done in
six years has been great. He's been a
generational talent. He's been special.
What
just happened? He got traded.
Exactly. Now getting traded can
do something to your mental now. It can do
something to your mental. I'm talking about the different kind
of pressure. Pressure playing and being comfortable
in Dallas, knowing you that guy, is
different. I agree with you with certain dudes, but
I don't care where you put Tom Brady.
He's Tom Brady in New England. He's Tom Brady
in Chapel Bay. Luka Doncic,
we're not going to cheat his talent and his
level of greatness. He's a special talent.
I believe it'll elevate him
conditionally-wise and
in the fight
defensively because he's got
a guy in the locker room
that's a hero of his, that he looks up to.
Now, LeBron James certainly has his flaws at times,
but one thing he does is take Kevin's body, and he's an all-time great.
He's a special talent that if you just hang around,
you've got testimonies from teammates, coaches.
He's going to make you better.
And Luka Doncic will be a better conditioned athlete
and a better conditioned athlete
and a better defender, competitively speaking,
because of being around LeBron James.
That's one thing LeBron James will bring to the table with him,
without a doubt.
But you know what, Jack?
I had a guy that tell me one time he said,
they'll tolerate you until they can replace you.
Profession, Luka is a professional basketball player.
It seems to me,
Nico Harrison had a problem
with him being a pro,
which was how he conducted himself
in being a professional basketball player.
You don't,
it had to get to a point,
Mark, and you know this,
having played,
Mark, you played what, 17 years?
Yes.
You played 17 years.
You coached in this league in order for you to trade a generational talent
because we've never seen it happen before.
At 25, the behavior behind the scenes, it had to be egregious.
There's no other way around it, Jack.
There's no other way.
You're right.
That 25-year-old generational
talent, we've never seen it before
unless he asked to be traded. That's a different
ballgame. This guy didn't ask to be traded.
He said he wanted to spend his life as a Dallas Maverick.
So there is clearly something
that made them
pull the trigger and
make the trade and pick up the phone and call
Los Angeles. I don't know what it is.
That'll come out at some point. It'll come out. If it don't know what it is. And that'll come out at some point.
It's going to come out.
But if it don't come out in the watch, it'll come out in the rents.
Yeah.
He's too great of a player that you just decided to pick up the phone.
No, I can handle it.
Think about it.
When it's like a defensive intensity for 48 minutes and it's like
conditioning overall,
the dude was still a five-time first team all nba player in six years
yep so i'm i'm gonna live with i'm gonna live with some of that and try to make them better
i'm not just gonna pick up the phone on a random day and call the los angeles lake so it's something
that pushed the button to make them make this call but jack my my antenna raised when rick carlyle
wouldn't sign the contract extension.
You know how hard it is to get a generational player.
They don't fall on trees.
And a lot of coaches never get an opportunity to coach a generational talent.
Rick Carlisle didn't accept the contract extension.
And he had a 22, 23-year-old Luka.
That should have raised the antenna.
But Rick really raised my antenna when I heard Nico Harrison say, culture. When you hear that, Jack, I know your antenna raised too,
because we see this with Zion. We believe his conditioning plays a role in his injuries.
We see that with Joel Embiid. We believe his conditioning plays a role in his injuries.
They believe, I believe, it is my estimation, and I'm just looking at this from a distance,
I believe the Mavericks believe that Luka's condition
or lack thereof, his training, his eating habits,
play a role in those injuries.
And I got to give you $70 million this summer
for next summer for five years?
Oh, no, Jack, I can't do that.
Oh, I can do it. Oh, that. Oh, I can do it.
Oh, no.
Oh, I can do it.
And you would do it too.
The guy's a top five player in the world.
There's no question about his ability.
The thing I got a problem with is we compared him to Joel Embiid
and Zion Williamson, two guys that have a tough time staying on the floor.
That's not Luka's issue.
He plays hurt. He plays hob floor. That's not Luka's issue. He plays hurt.
He plays hobbled.
He's not 100%.
He doesn't take care of his body.
He's not in the best condition physically.
He doesn't come in shape and camp, but he plays.
He loves to play.
Those other two guys have missed a substantial amount of games.
I think culture is the conditioning.
It's how we act on the bus. It's how we act on the conditioning. It's how we act on the
bus. It's how we act on the plane. It's how we
act in the locker room. We don't
know that story. I'll give you an example.
Jimmy Butler. Report come out.
Jimmy Butler had the plane waiting for an hour
while everybody was waiting for him.
Are you kidding me? That's not on Jimmy
Butler. That's on me. I'm not waiting an hour
for nobody.
That's what happened?
The report is? The plane
is taking off and we're leaving Jimmy Butler.
If you wait for Jimmy
Butler and you're setting yourself up
for disaster.
You're setting yourself up for a
culture that allows that.
No, we're going to set the tone right away. We're leaving this guy
and if he shows up to the game, he shows up to the game,
we're handling that.
What kind of president are you sitting with, Luca,
when you know he's out of shape,
when you know he's not conditioned properly,
when you know he's not training properly?
The dude is averaging 30 and 9.
He's the best player on the floor every night.
So you got to find other ways to push the button
to get him to respond.
You got to pull
them into office by yourself and talk
to them. You got to pull them into office
with Kyrie Irving. You got to pull them into office with the GM.
You got to pull them into office with ownership. Bring in some
former greats. Bring in Dirk Novitski.
Whatever trick you got to do to push the button.
Dirk's there! He's
seeing Dirk every day! Whatever the trick
is you got to do to push the button,
your job, my job, is to find that button and push it.
Because he is great.
And he's an all-time great.
But I want to put him in that special room that he deserves to be in.
I'm not – like, there's guys you had to talk up to be great.
When he walked into this league, he was great.
You don't have to hype him up and talk him up.
He was great from day one.
So now let's get you into that special room.
He just lost $117 million, Ocho from day one so now let's get you into that special room he just lost 117 million dollars ocho basically one year can it cost him 117 it cost him 117 million now if that don't get your attention it should have your undivided attention
now i don't know where y'all who makes 117 million dollars a year maybe some ce CEOs, maybe Cristiano Ronaldo, maybe Mbappe,
maybe
some of them, but ain't a whole
lot of players making $117
million in salary, Jamal.
And you're in California
tax.
Just think about it. You could have
been in Texas,
no state income tax.
It's 13.5%
in California.
I don't know if you noticed anything. So,
$40 million, they're going to take
13.5%. That's
10. So, they're going to take $4 million.
So, they're going to take about $6 million
from you right there, Ocho, on
$40.
Hey, listen. Let's say he missed out on $117,000,
right? Whatever he missed out on. Let, right? Whatever he missed out. Let's
say he gets himself together.
Gets himself together, gets on the right
track. Is it still a possibility
he can recoup that money
on the back end in the next deal?
It all depends. Hold on. He's a big
enough superstar that he can have
deals outside because
he projects. That's one thing. He projects
globally. Right. So, yeah, he can have deals outside because he projects that's one thing he projects globally right so
yeah he can make that much but you can't make up what you miss it's kind of like time because yeah
let's just say for the sake of argument show he signs this deal with the Lakers so 117 minus $345,000, so he gets $228,000. $228,000, $228,000 good money.
But just think, same, Jamal, you remember when Boogie?
Boogie missed out on what, $200 million?
By getting traded to the Pelicans.
And then he gets injured.
Never saw a payday again.
See, that's the thing, Ocho.
You see, we're under the assumption and we
hope we knock on wood that nothing happens but when you're continuously overweight you put stress
on your body your body ain't used to that your body ain't used to being trying to go up and down
that court on a nightly basis Jamal you know at least two nights a week sometimes three nights a
week when you meant to be 220 all of a sudden you're trying to play in 260.
Something got to give, Ocho.
Something got to give.
You got to form it and you keep hauling logs on top of it.
And you see what happened to it.
That's like Ocho talking about he going to play me when I'm going to be
drinking Coke.
You can't play me.
You got to tell me.
Hold on.
You got to understand.
I would go on five for 180 on McDonald's and cheeseburgers and fries and a Coke. You can't play. You gotta tell me. You gotta understand.
I would go on fire for 180 on McDonald's and cheeseburgers and fries and a Coke.
Having to deal with you at
my age with this skill set
with never having any injuries, that's
easy work. See, you was doing that
at 25.
Listen, age ain't nothing but a number.
The man created that.
I know age ain't nothing but a number. I know that. Whenever you're ready, I, listen. Age ain't nothing but a number. The man created that. Oh, I know. I'm going to get there for you now.
I know age ain't nothing but a number.
I know that.
Whenever you're ready, I'm here.
That's all I got to say.
You've seen that food worker gets primed.
I ain't working on this.
Let me ask you a question, Jamal.
Who do you think won the trade?
I think Dallas won the immediate future.
The immediate part of it, I think the Lakers won the future part.
And the reason being is
AD will not let us help either.
And as you know, Unc, like we've seen sometimes
where he's, it ain't his fault. And he's
played games over the last few years, but
he's going to have a different workload now.
Like you said, he's going to be involved in picking roles a lot with Kyrie.
Luka,
that's a great transition from LeBron
to Luka as a future superstar whenever
LeBron decides he's had enough.
Because you've got to have that in LA. So I think
both sides won it. It was just so weird.
The weirdness of it was everything.
Because I just, who would have guessed it?
Could you imagine Minnesota trading it right now?
No. Or Boston trading Tatum?
Or Denver trading Joker? It was just as shocking.
That's why it's so crazy. And I'm going to tell you
something else. I think there's going to be one,
at that level, I think there's going to be a shocking trade that happens
over this next time period.
I promise you.
I think something's coming.
And if you look at what Minnesota gave up to get Rudy Gobert.
Yeah.
Dallas didn't want but one first-round pick.
I'd say give me 27, give me 29.
I want a pick swap in between.
And give me what you gave me.
Yeah. Yes.
That's how you got to be because
this dude is generational.
Luke is so good at basketball. Luke will figure
out the game a long time ago.
When he's playing at times, he's not even playing
against you. He's playing against your coach.
Kevin Junker got that quality. LeBron as well.
Are you on this? I got you on that.
What you going to do, coach? Okay, I'm going to expose him over there.
He's one of those dudes. The games, I've always said he plays like I got you on that. What you going to do, coach? Okay, I'm going to expose him over there. Like, he's one of those dudes.
The games, I've always said he plays like he got headphones on,
like he listening to Sade or something.
He's so at peace with his game that it's crazy.
But now he's going to go to L.A., so we're going to see.
I can't wait to see it.
Three times six-man of the year,
the oldest man in NBA history to have a 50-point game,
the only man in NBA history to have at least 50 with four different franchises.
The one,
the only Jamal Crawford.
Good luck next year and calling games on NBC.
Jamal,
congratulations.
Job well done.
