Melissa Jefferson Wooden joins us a little bit later.
But first,
Deshawn Watson was asked if he needs to have a big game to start the Brown's first home game this season.
Here's what he had to say.
Then return home goes really well.
No, I think personally, I think all that is for the media.
I mean, I think the media has this expectation that I'm supposed to throw 400 yards and five touchdowns every week.
So until that happens, I guess it's going to be the same situation.
So again, my job is to make sure I'm operating well.
we can try to get a win and keep moving forward from there.
Ocho?
Yes, sir.
He said 400 yards and five touchdowns.
I was just hoping that we can get $2.50 in a couple of touchdown.
But what do you think?
That's it.
I think he understands.
Obviously, he's trying to answer in some of the humorous manner
and understanding that his job is on the line.
His lease is extremely short.
He has to play well.
He has to play well.
Again, I've said and I say it again,
for those that are watching,
for those that are listening,
that the Sean Watson lease is extremely short,
and they can't start out the gate O and 2.
They can't start out the gate O&2.
I think they have Tampa Bay this week,
if I'm not mistaken,
he has to play well.
And obviously Tampa Bay coming off,
I wouldn't say an upset,
coming off a losing effort against Cincinnati.
They're looking to go into Cleveland.
Actually, no, they're playing in Tampa, actually.
In Tampa.
Yeah, they're looking to have their first home game
winning Tampa against what they
probably already checked off as a win against the Brown.
So I'm hoping Deshaun can get itself together,
have a better understanding on how important it is for him to play well.
If not, I think they make, make a move going into week three
with their first home game being in Cleveland.
You know, guys, I hate to get on here and say how someone should speak.
But how about I need to play well in order for us to win a game?
forget playing well so I start the game at home.
What about Ocho?
I need to play well in order for us to win a game.
Damn, where the game is, home on the road.
We could be playing on the moon.
But I need to play better than what I'm playing.
You see the difference between quarterbacks that really have,
that get it?
Jane Daniels, what did he say?
Even though it was not his responsibility,
he said, you know what, I should have reminded him in this situation.
I should have reminded as a third year quarterback.
I should have had to remind a 12-year event.
veteran, let's not do anything stupid.
You notice what he said? He said, I should have.
Listen at Cam Ward, we should have.
Listen at what he said.
You see the difference between those that get it and those that don't.
I'm going to let you go ahead, chime in Joe.
Then I'm going to follow up after that.
My bad.
I don't think we are.
We're not necessarily looking for 400 yards.
Okay, Ocho.
You know what I mean?
We ain't looking for that.
But I'm looking for comfortable, you know, quarterback play.
I want to see a guy back there who looks,
who's making plays, who's being decisive in what it is that he want to do.
You know what I mean?
I just think right now it's a lot of indecision.
There's a lot of pressure on Deshaun.
But man, listen, he does.
He does have to play well for him in order for that man to keep his job, bro,
in order for them not to make changes.
I think if he take care of his part, OK, Ocho, meaning, don't turn the ball over.
You know what I mean?
Yes.
Do your part.
But to say that people, you know, are looking for him and throw for 400 yards.
man we ain't looking for that bro we just want you to get back to looking
comfortable back there looking comfortable looking confident okay you tried it
your way okay 400 yards tell me what you think how many how what dinkin and dunk is
gonna get you Ocho tell me throwing the ball at the line at or near the line of
scrimmage tell me how many games you expect that to win for you no not not very many
but also also it's it's on it's also the job of the office to play caller to get
Deshawn Watson in rhythm. You know his confidence might be shot right now. Obviously,
everyone had expectations for him going into week one, start out, first drive. I think it might
have been the first drive. Ethos Interceptional. Yes. That does something to you. Yeah. I don't
know what anybody says. That does something to you, especially with all the noise that's going
on the outside. And the one thing that he does need, and whoever's calling the plays has to
understand, I got to get Deshawn in a rhythm in these games. Shut up.
short, you know, whether there's some sort,
something in the flat or a quickslan or a quick out.
Hey, hey, Ocho.
He threw a pick on a dig, Ocho, damn.
How much short do you want?
We didn't throw a goal ball.
We didn't throw a post, we didn't throw a deep over.
Hell, we threw a dig.
And he got that pick.
Yeah.
Tell the chat why he got a pick, don't you?
He stared him down.
Yeah, he stared him down.
Oh, yeah.
Hell, I knew he were going to him.
You hear me?
I didn't, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, Cho, I think, you know, Deshaun is going
have to improvise a little bit back there playing the quarterback.
It ain't going to be, you know, everything going to be black and white,
bro.
He's going to have to figure some things out back there.
You know what I mean?
And I think, and that's making plays outside the pocket, you know, on the run,
whatever the case may be, but he got to do whatever he can, bro.
Just to, I don't even think necessarily got to win the game, but he got to play better.
Yes.
Well, they can't win if he doesn't play well.
They're not good enough at other positions, Ocho, Joe,
to overcome his inability to play well.
That's what I'm saying.
It's good.
And defensively, we saw he got a handy to him,
and that was, look,
the first game of the season,
aberration, we chalk it up.
We'll give them the benefit of the doubt
and say the defense will play better.
But if you look at them,
overall, offensively,
they're not talented enough.
Ocho, you like to say the term
instead of like quarterbacks normally raises
everybody's level of play around them,
but they need to, they're not talented enough to do that.
Now, they had a J.S.
They had a chase, they had a trade make bride, and they had loaded on the offensive line where they got a, uh, uh, a big Trent Williams and they got Clinton Nelson and they got guys like that. They got, uh, Creed Humphrey. Okay. He can play like he's been playing. And there are enough talent around. If you got Derek Henry or you got, you know, you got Bejohn Robinson or Jamir Gibbs to elevate. Okay, now I can say, you know what, Ocho? He ain't got a play great. No. He doesn't have that. No. And if he doesn't.
doesn't have that, he has to play well.
But the problem is, Ocho, you said, it does something to you.
Go talk to any quarterback that's worth anything and ask them.
When you throw an interception, do you shy away?
They're going to tell you, hell no.
Dan Marino told me, say, look, hell, if I throw two or three,
I'm going to keep throwing, might as well end up with five.
Because if I, if I start throwing two or three early and I don't got four or five,
that means I shied away from trying to push the ball down the field,
which gives our team no chance to win the game.
Yeah, yeah.
Hey, Ocho, and a lot of people, it does.
It does something to you when you make a mistake early in the game.
It does something.
You have to be a strong individual.
You and I caught the ball for a living.
We dropped that first pass.
It gets like, God, dang it.
Now all of a sudden it goes through your mind.
Do I catch it like this?
Do I catch it like this?
Do I catch it like this?
And my body catching.
It does.
I used to hate that, yeah.
But you know what, Ocho, I got to remember, hey, man, look here.
You're the highest paid player at your position.
Hello.
For a reason.
Hello.
Ain't anybody trying to hear them a damn excuses.
The ball beats you up.
Go back to your technique, the fundamentals.
Hey, give me another, hey, my bad, that's on me, John.
I got you.
Come back to me.
I ain't talking about it.
Yes, I'm disappointed in myself.
Yeah.
Because there's a level of expectation no matter how difficult to catch you.
My teammates and the people in the stands expect me to make that play.
They expect you to make that play just like you, Joe.
No matter what the situation, like damn, y'all expect me to make every last second shot.
Yep.
what they expect.
Yeah.
Because we've seen you make it so many times before.
You damn right, we expect you to make it.
Even in games, okay, Ocho, when you start off, you may start off the game in basketball,
you may start off, you don't miss your first three, four shots.
Hell, you got to keep shooting.
If you him, if you him a thief, you got to keep shooting, bro.
You hear me?
So at the end of the game, I may have already don't win four for 17.
Ain't got no rhythm can't hit Nathaniel.
You hear me?
Hey, hey, we dropped that last second shot.
I guess who's going to.
We're going to your boy now.
Exactly, if it's supposed to.
Yes, sir, it's going to your boy.
And I gotta come through and deliver.
That's just part of it.
That's just, that's how it is, bro.
You got to-
Go ahead, go ahead, Joe, finish.
And I relish and cherish those moments, bro,
because it's been many nights.
And a lot of them game winners that I hit,
okay, Ojo, to where I ain't have a great rhythm,
bro, it was like, it was some dull moments,
you know what I mean?
But at the biggest moments, you know,
your boy came through.
Can I ask y'all a question?
Yeah.
At making damn near $50 million a year, what should I expectations be?
I just, I'm going to thought y'all guy.
I just want to put that out there in the universe.
Tell me what should the expectation from the fans?
What should the expectation of your teammates?
What should they be expectation of your coaches?
What should it be?
Well, you know what?
It all starts with you.
If you're making 50 million, your place to reflect what you're making.
You should expect that from yourself, right?
You expect it.
Hello.
Were you surprised when you caught for 125 and two touchdowns?
surprised no but you expected it right take the money take the money off the table take the money off the
table okay not making 50 million i'm still expected to make those plays when the ball yes wait whether i'm
the third string the second string or first string you're in the NFL you have a job to you're paid
to do a job now some people make much more money than others that is expanded expected to do it
at a higher frequency and a little bit more consistent yeah that's all to come down to yes
But the fact that the matter is, Ocho, the more you make, the greater expectations.
Oh, yes, sir.
You think the janitor have the same level of expectation as the CEO?
No.
Absolutely not.
There's a reason why you think green, the rookie, has the same level of expectation as Deshaun Watson when he's a first year guy.
And Deshaun Watson is a multiple year guy making that kind of money.
It just is.
People say money should, but it does.
Yes, sir.
Because guess what?
He got paid based on what he did because the expectations that he made.
met. Now all of a sudden he's making the money. We've got to take the money off the table because
of the expectation. Absolutely not. He shouldn't want it to be. He should say I'd rather the
opportunity to go out there and play well because I still believe that I can play well. I haven't
shown you my best yet, but I believe the best is yet to come. We're going to keep plug. I'm going to
keep plugging. I would do my part. I worry about it. I know the defense is going to get their act
together, but the last thing can happen is everybody get their act together and I ain't got mine
together.
Hello.
See, I don't talk about anybody else's house when I know I left dishes in the
sink.
You see what I'm doing, Ocho?
You see what I'm talking about, Joe?
I can't do that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hey, I see.
I was a bar.
Okay.
Hey, my expectations for Dishon, bro.
I expect to see, you know, a game or two from, like, Lamar had this week, this week.
Yeah.
Okay.
Oh, Joe.
I, can I expect something like that from Deshaun from, you know, hell, look at, look at
Jacob Brissette.
We can't expect Jacoby Brousset?
We asking too much to get Jacoby Brissette, don't you?
But hold on.
And that's the-Ducoby-I don't mean that as a slight.
But I'm saying, here's the guy that's making $15 million,
plus some incentives for every game that he wins.
You mean to tell me a guy that's making damn near $50 million?
We shouldn't have no expectations?
But hold on.
Also, notice how you said Lamar Jackson.
Notice how someone said Josh Allen, right?
Yeah.
Jacobi Preset, Mike Wilson,
Marvin Harrison, Harrison, Jr., they're showing up for him.
Yeah.
Lamar Jackson, did you see Zay Flowers in the first half?
Zay had 150 and two TDs, if I'm not mistaken, in the first half.
Yeah, right, yeah.
Josh Allen, D.G. Moore going crazy.
You know, Josh doing what he does.
Yeah.
That's why I keep saying when it comes to Deshaun Watson,
the fact that he's not this kind of quarterback anymore
that can raise a level of play with those around him,
that those that are around him have to play with.
have to be in the right place.
When they call him routes, you got to be it to death.
You got to be, everything has to be perfect
until he gets himself in a comfortable position
where he's confident enough to playoff script
and do things that you can't teach
and you can't coach.
He's not there right now.
Hey, hey, everything is.
So what I got to do?
I get my eyes beat out in the meantime
until he get there.
Hey, I'm just telling you.
Joe, what are we supposed to do,
Joe, that was I'm like, well, there, Ocho, he might, he might, it's about time for him to pull that rabbit out of the hat now.
Hey, hey, Joe, listen, he can pull the rabbit all he want.
But if he ain't got no crowd, if he ain't got no crowd to entertain, the crowd is obviously supporting cast, you know, in this, in this scenario.
Hey, Fanning, Concepcion, Boston, Judy, man, and boy, got to be, man, planning.
Hey, Ocho, it ain't like he ain't got no weapons.
You see what you did?
Ocho, Joe, you see what he did?
What?
You see he's asking more from his surroundings.
and cast that he's asking from Deshaun.
Yeah.
You see what you just did, Ocho?
You said I need Concepcion, I need Fanning,
I need Judy, I need all these guys.
Yeah.
What do we need from Deshawn?
To play well.
To play well.
Is that asking, make me, chat,
forgive me.
If I'm asking too much, chat, forgive me.
Oh, you're not, you're not,
you're not, you're not, you're not asking too much,
but I'm just saying if you know, listen,
if you got a herd of Buffalo, right Joe?
Yes.
Yes.
And, one.
One of the buffalo hurt.
Yeah.
If you leave that buffalo behind, what's going to happen to him?
He's going to get what?
He going to get eight up.
He going to get his ass eat up.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I need all y'all that surround that buffalo that's hurt and go ahead and hold her together.
I can only stay there.
So if you look at any animal, they might, but they got to keep moving because they got to keep eating and they got to keep drinking water.
I can't stay here with you and die.
We all can't die.
Because we got a herd.
We got a herd now.
If you go back and look at animals, they absolutely will do exactly what you said.
But after a while, they'll come to the realization.
Yeah.
This is a lost cause.
Yeah.
This is what they call nature.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Got to go.
Watch it.
Got to go.
They're not waiting.
That's why they pray on the week in the in the end of the old.
The elderly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's why people are.
So that's why we get so up in arms when people pray on the weak and the elderly.
Yeah.
Because those are the defenseless ones.
Yep.
It comes a time, just look at, y'all, I don't know how many of y'all are old enough,
but watch Nat Geo and watch how animals get, and they get sick.
And all the animals like, they really come to the realization he's sick.
There's nothing else we can do for him or her.
And they just start mosing on.
And he might try to get up, he or he or she might try to get up and he might try to get up
But he realized this is where it is for me.
I've had a great three year, four years
whether a black mama bid it or he got injured in a hunt.
Yeah.
It realizes.
This is it.
I'm going as far as I can go.
Damn.
Guess what I'm going to do.
I'm going to go over here in the planes.
I'm going over here in the grass.
I'm a bow my head and I'm going to die like,
I'm going to die like a proud animal than what I am.
Well, I tell you what, I tell you what,
if they don't win this damn game against Tampa Bay,
If he doesn't play well against Tampa Bay,
he's going to be laying out there in that grass that you talk.
Yeah.
They're sparkling.
Ocho,
Ocho, hold on.
I'm saying,
even if he,
even if he play well,
no turnovers,
right?
Let's say he have no turnovers,
Uncle Ocho,
but he plays well,
and they still lose the game.
You're still telling me they got a,
they got to go with a different,
a different.
You know what?
I like,
I like that scenario,
Joe.
I like that scenario.
I think he plays well,
Uncle Joe.
if he plays well
and they have a fighting chance
and just happen to lose,
I think they still stick with him.
I still think that,
but listen,
that Tampa Bay defense, boy?
Me personally, I think
they give him at least to the quarter pole.
You think so?
But I tell you what, I know y'all ain't there.
I don't know, Joe, I know you from the country.
You know when you look up there and you see those buzzards,
you see them circling, you don't know where,
and you don't know what.
All I know is.
was they circling.
Yeah.
They circling in Cleveland.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Oh, Joe, I grew up in the South where they had
an old wash machine on the back, they had the ringer.
It would ring the tub, and then you pull them through to wrestle.
Yeah.
We had an old cat one day.
He was sitting up there, and his tail got caught in the ringer.
He's talking about it won't be long now.
I didn't know what he was talking about.
His tail wouldn't be long anymore,
or it wouldn't be long for it all be over with?
Now, what you think he meant?
Damn.
I'm telling Deshaun just like this here.
It won't be long.
if you don't play well.
I'm nervous for him.
Yeah.
I'm nervous like a long-tail dog on a porch full of rocking chairs.
You know what they're rocking and you got a long-tail,
hey, he just, he know what's gonna happen.
Yeah.
It's just a matter of time.
Yeah.
Hey, think about this.
If you're nervous for him, right,
how you think he'd feel and he won't have got to play?
He's nervous, because I can't help him.
That's why I'm nervous, so Joe.
I didn't get nervous.
Yeah.
You know why?
Because I can control the way I played.
You control the way you played.
Joe complained.
He could,
he could do something about the way he played.
We can't.
I want Deshaun to succeed.
Right.
But I can't do anything for him.
I can't pour my confidence in him.
I've never lost confidence.
Right.
You can take a lot of things away from me.
You can't take this talent because you can't give it to me.
You can't take something that you didn't give me.
Right.
They didn't give me this ability to play.
They didn't give me this ability.
to run. They didn't give me this ability to think. Take everything you want to strip me down to the bare bones.
But you can't take what's inside of me because you didn't give it to me. You can't take anything
you didn't give. Hello. Hello. That's all. A, A, A, A, Ocho. And, oh, no.
Oh, damn. Damn, Joe, boy, you got, Joe, you got ghosts over there.
Damn. And in the, in the word. A, a little paranormal activity.
over there, boy.
Hey, hey, hey.
And the work, and the confidence should come from the work
that you put in.
Yes!
Yeah, it should come from the work you put in.
You should, you know, at this stage,
your age of your career, Ocho, you grown, bro.
We're professionals.
This is what we do.
This is why they pay you the big bucks.
You gotta put the work in, bro.
You got to come confident.
What you mean, talking about some,
until he gained his confidence.
Come on, man.
Hey, but Joe, you know that's what it takes, Joe.
When you're not playing well,
the first thing to go,
when you're not playing well,
is your confidence.
Joe, and the reason I keep saying that too,
Ung and Joe, is when I drop a ball,
well, I lose some of my confidence.
As arrogant, as cocky as I was when I was playing,
but when I drop a ball, it does something to me.
In my office coordinator, Marvin Lewis,
and Carson Palmer knew.
We got to get him a touch early.
Yes.
Smoke route.
It could have been some quick.
It could have been a reverse.
Just let me feel the ball, Joe.
Once I get that, the feeling that touch of that ball one more time,
that confidence just,
clicks in. I don't know, it's a mental thing.
Yeah. I don't know why I was like that.
Uncle, you might have been different, but it bothered me a little bit because my expectations
that I had for myself.
Joe, I'm talking about, Joe, I felt like shit, Joe.
I drop it, you hit a whole crowd, say, oh, damn.
Hey, hey, next play. You gotta keep it moving, Ocho, because once you sit there and get that
bad body language, then now the whole stadium, no, you may, man, next play.
You know, especially in who's, bro.
You know, you missed three, four, five shots in a row.
Hell, I'm going to make the next one.
I ain't tripping.
The thing with basketball, Joe, it's only five of y'all in the court.
And most of the time, the ball moves around.
And the one who's shooting who has the opportunity to miss has a green light
and much more opportunities than I do.
Yeah.
You know, Joe, I think I don't even know what the most catch game I've ever had is.
Joe, I ain't getting up, but maybe four, five play passes the game, Joe.
Oh, Joe, I've been in that position, too, partner.
I'm talking about to why I come in the game,
And I know I ain't gonna get no more than about seven shots a game five or seven shots a night
Boy, I gotta make sure I hit at least four of them. You're in my eight line. I'm trying to make
sure they good shots and I'm trying to keep it comfortable because I know, you know, I just got to
work hard, you know, play hard on defense and I know that ball ain't gonna find me but about
seven times for real. Right. You know what I mean? So with that, then you know and understand that,
your workout is different, bro. Like when you get there, I'm trying to get to it quick. Because if I
get some early if I can get some easy ones early hell late you never know man you know
yeah I just you see the difference is Ocho the way I looked at it when I dropped the
past that drop was on me it ain't in me that ain't who I am yeah that's just what I did yeah
you see confidence see confidence shouldn't be on you it should be in you yeah from the work that you
put in you know what pressure people say pressure pressure is what you feel when you don't know what
the head you're doing and you don't know if you can do it oh hello hello where did you come
Yeah. Think about where you came from to where you got that's pressure
Catching a damn football and making a basketball ain't no damn pressure
Getting out of the impoverished environments that we lifted our family out of that is pressure because if we don't change it
Who's going to nobody? Yeah, that's pressure. Yeah, well you don't know your next meal coming from that's pressure.
That's pressure when your grandma making $197 every two weeks you
She's making less than $400 a month.
And you got two aunts at home.
And you got your brother, your sister, your grandma,
and my sister, my nephew.
That's pressure.
Yeah.
I never felt pressure.
My pressure was to get my grandmother out of that environment.
My pressure was to make a better way for my family.
Not so they didn't have to work,
but I wanted my family.
I knew there was something better for Shannon Sharp outside of Glenville.
Sean's got to believe that.
Deshawn left Gainesville, Georgia.
went to Clemson, went to two national championships,
one, one, and was a MVP, a ball game MVP.
He's an all, the Sean is better than this.
I don't wanna hear all this excuses,
what their expectations are.
You should expect it from yourself.
You can't expect more from Shannon Sharp
than Shannon Sharp expect from his damn self.
I promise you.
So damn the media what they expect.
What do you expect from you?
Man, they didn't stop using all this media, man.
Man, you notice everything is the media.
The media want me to throw for five touchdowns and 400 yards.
What do you want to throw for?
What do you want to do?
You got no expectations for yourself?
Find a way.
Make a way.
See, this is also, see, now you see why I can't coach.
Now you see why I, I mean, me.
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
See, you got to understand.
You always say, now you see why you can coach,
but imagine if you were coaching.
They'll know.
Deshaun Watson's words, it may be different if he heard what you just said.
If he said that to him, like, you know, say that in front of the team.
I see what you're saying, Ocho.
I know he got it in him.
I know he got it in him, too.
No, man.
And you can pull some out of players that nobody else could.
There you go, Ocho.
I can only pull out what you got in.
Oh, it's in there.
Sometimes I can't pull out.
I can only pull out what you got in you, Joe.
You hear me?
See, I can only push.
See, the thing is with a coach.
He's supposed to be able to be able to push a player and get more out of a player than what he thinks he has in him.
I don't know if these guys got it in them because that ain't how they talk.
Yeah.
What did my homeboy tell you?
There's that prayer abuse.
That was my roommate.
He said he always talked like this.
Y'all don't think I just talked like this yesterday or the day before.
He said in 1990 when he first got there as a seventh-round draft pick,
the way you hear him talk now is the way he talked back then.
He ain't like.
I asked him.
I asked him.
I said, man, this dude would be talking like this back then.
He said, man, this dude don't shut up.
He's been talking like this.
Yeah.
You got to believe, Ocho, you gotta believe,
if you don't believe in Ocho, who believed in Ocho?
You say your teachers didn't.
You say some of the people in Liberty City didn't.
Ocho believed in Ocho.
Even when he got kicked out of Langston University,
he didn't give up.
He went to Samma, had to go to Juko.
He didn't give up.
He went to Oregon State
and had an apple and read a comic book
on the Greyhound bus and guess what?
End up in Cincinnati,
the all-time lead receiver in Bingles history.
Yeah.
In the ring of fame.
The Pro Bowl are all pro.
Hello.
All those things.
Now how many people in Liberty City believe that was possible for you?
There's only one person.
When everybody told me I couldn't,
the one person that told me I could was me.
I believed him because I was with him.
Y'all ain't with me?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Everybody got an opinion on what they think you did
to get to where you got to.
How many was there with you?
All the people that had an opinion about you, Ocho,
when Ocho from the ages of four
until Ocho was 22.
How many of them people with you at night?
No, no.
Just grandma, that's it.
Exactly.
How many with you, Joe, you and your mom?
That's what it was.
That's it.
Not everybody wanna tell you
who they think you are,
what you think they think you should be.
Nah, I ain't fit to listen to you now.
Yeah, hello.
Because when I needed advice and when I needed something,
you were nowhere to be found.
There you go.
That's a good one now.
That's all I'm saying, Deshaun, you better than this.
I know you're better than this.
But there's only so, I can only pull you so far.
And the passage said when you saw those things at the roughest
and you only saw one foot and one set of footprints.
I said, well, what you thought that was you?
I was carrying your black ass.
You had been stopped and sat down.
I picked you up.
He said when things were going good,
I saw two sets of footprints.
Yeah.
But when things were going bad,
I only saw one.
That's because I was carrying you.
That other set of footprint was gone
because you was riding.
I like that.
Yeah.
Well, y'all,
hey, y'all got Reverend Shott started today.
That's what I'm talking about.
Man, I'm talking about
that they want to hear, boy.
Yeah.
I like when you go out like that.
Hey, Joe, and this is exactly why I need to be coaching
because, oh, man.
Hey, listen, the player need to hear this.
I don't talk like this.
You hear me?
None of the coaches talk like this.
I know you can put down a mean speech before a game, boy.
I already know why being that so hype ready to go.
Come on, man.
I'd be ready to put my cleats on, Joe.
Man, come on.
Bad, they need to.
Former Houston, Texas.
Great.
Andre Johnson spoke about the one thing he likes about, dislike, excuse me,
dislike about CJ Stroud.

With him, and this is just me personally, but I dislike about CJ, I dislike his
body language like his body language is bad like any time something happens it's like
okay you're looking at me you know I'm saying this comes from Dre you know this he talked
about we know this picking on yeah yeah yeah it's bad body language and I don't know like I think
as a me being a former player your quarterback having that type of body language is bad because it
because other guys look at you as the quarterbacks.
When they see you and they see you, you know,
feeling a certain way or your body language a certain way,
it kind of trickles through the team.
Guys, what do you think?
This is how CJ responded.
I respect Dre as a person.
I appreciate his critiques, but I'm focused on this week.
Joe, I'm kicking you first.
You agree with Andre's callout of CJ?
Yeah, I agree.
Okay, Ocho.
I'm going to tell you why.
Why? Because body language, no matter what sports you're playing, bro.
It, you know, it's a tell-tale.
It's clearly letting everybody know how you feel, your opponent, the fans.
I've always been the type to try and be even-kill.
I don't want you to know if I'm too high, feeling too good, good,
or if I don't really got it going, and I'm like, damn, tonight ain't tonight.
You know what I mean?
I try and stay even-kill.
But I understand what Andre Johnson is saying.
your quarterback, he determines so much of the game,
and if he exudes bad energy and all that, come on, man.
Y'all know that's infectious, bro.
It's infectious throughout the team, throughout the offense.
So I'm with Dre on this one, bro.
Ocho?
I mean, I kind of like it in a sense a little bit.
I don't like the infectious part because regardless of how my quarterback is feeling,
regards to his body language, I still, me personally,
I still got a job to do because that, that I understand.
it don't lie, Joe.
Die in the sky, it don't lie.
Now, what I don't like is, this is the same conversation we had
about the way players should answer questions.
Comparison, the way Cam Ward answers and Fernando Mendoza,
like everybody operates in different manners.
Everyone reacts in different manners when some goes well or something goes bad.
I do agree with Dre in a sense that obviously he should show some type of emotion.
Another quarterback that showed no emotion.
He was always one way, whether it's a good player or bad pay.
Hey, Uncle, remember Jay Cutler?
Yeah.
Did Jay Cudler show any emotion?
No.
His face was always the same way.
His body language was always the same way.
I think Jay and C.J. Stroud might be the only two I can think of that don't show any emotion, whether it's a good play or bad play.
Maybe it's something he can work on.
But what he does and what he shows right now is how he's always been, how he's always been.
He's always been like this.
You know, it's not like he just started not showing emotion once he got to the NFL.
failed. So I think for him to try to change that now, it would be somewhat performative,
and it would probably be someone that he's not, you know, just to appease those to make it
look like he cares. But I agree with him in a sense. I don't like the part that it can affect
everybody else because everybody else ain't worried about what my quarterback looked like. Hell,
I got a goddamn job to do. But that's pretty much it. I agree.
Hold on. Yeah, I don't have a problem. I think, like, look, things are going to go wrong during the
course of a ball game and you can be disappointed.
But what I can't do is let it linger.
I can't let it fester.
Right.
Because a lot of times it's see,
and that seems like what Dre is saying,
and I don't want to speak for Dre,
because Dre, I think, you know, said,
you know, the greatest, the demographical people
that are the greatest body language communicator are black people.
It's been studied.
We can read body language better than any race of people.
Absolutely.
There's something to what Dre is saying.
He said, I am not saying that you shouldn't be disappointed when you make a mistake,
but I'm saying I think you let it fester.
I think you let it last too long.
and it bleeds into the next plate.
Do what the way to say?
On to the next plate.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You started early.
Go ahead.
I'm tripping.
What?
Eli Manning.
Yes.
Eli.
Eli.
Oh, you get nothing.
Nothing.
Let me think about receivers because you know all of them.
But see, the problem is what you're saying now with Eli.
Eli had no emotion.
You see CJ get highs and lows.
Yeah.
Right, right.
He thought, I mean, he coming out there, he coming at that thing.
He thought he was an touchdown.
I thought he was an old choice of the thing.
Hey, hey.
All of a sudden, he threw a pick and he fumble.
Yeah, yeah.
There you go.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's the ebbs and the flows.
It's the extremely high and the low, low.
I'm not saying you should not be disappointed,
but you got to be even, he's got to be an even keel.
You can't get too high.
when things go good you can't get too low when things go bad yes I'm not saying you
shouldn't celebrate I'm not saying you shouldn't be disappointed when things go bad
all I am saying is that you if you let it faster oh Joe we got what we call
leaders on the team yes sir you were a leader your leadership style is oh Joe is fun
fun going yeah oh Joe is outgoing personality he ain't gonna let nothing even
except that one time in the locker room that you got upset that you know we would
you let the steal us that was the first time in
they had ever seen you it overflowed like it did oh yeah i will hot and it shocks the people like man
this ain't the oh choo i know man what happened oh joe cracking jokes they're having a good time funny
it was no laughing matter then no that's an isolated incident yeah but you've heard other people
say that his body language is not what it needs to be a lot of the time look you're absolutely
right everybody can't be a certain yeah you like a look hey man he got upset when he threw a
pick Tom Brady, but they didn't send him in no damn shell.
Yeah.
No.
It's a part of the game.
If you, look, unless you Aaron Rogers, where he was having, when he was in his absolute
prime and he's playing 16 games and throwing five interceptions, unless you got to having
that type of season.
Right.
You're probably throwing double digits.
Yeah.
And you know what the other issue is too, Uncle Joe?
What's that?
What's that?
He hasn't played, he hasn't played well.
And now everything is magnified.
Yep.
everything is magnified now.
So they're finding every little thing to nitpick and maybe not nickpick.
He did that to himself, Ocho, by having that great rookie season.
Yeah.
So what's it you, Ocho, if you go out there and let's just say your rookie year,
you catch 85 balls, 1,350 yards and 12 touchdowns.
What do you think the expectation is going to be moving forward?
We do better to do the same thing to follow when you are better?
Prime example, Randy Moss.
When Randy Moss came out of his rookie year and had 17 touchdown,
what were the expectations moving forward?
Not only did what they're up here, he exceeded him.
Yeah.
CJ did this to himself.
You could have stunk it up.
We wouldn't have had no expectations.
And then if you play bad like you did in the postseason last year,
we'd have talked it up, said, hey, this way, but no, you set the bar here.
Yeah.
Once you set the bar here, we ask you to continually clear that bar.
Yep.
And it becomes the expectation.
And that's what we expect to see
weekend and week out.
Same thing with LeBron.
We talk about his greatness.
It doesn't matter how many damn years
he'd been in the NBA.
Every team that he goes to,
they expected to win.
They do.
Look at the odds.
Look at what clearly odds went to.
When LeBron joined the team,
look at what they were and then what they were.
You're talking about this is what y'all expect
from a 42.
You're damn right.
He shouldn't be so great.
Ain't nobody tell his ass to be this great this damn long.
That's just the way it is.
When you set a level of greatness for yourself,
that's the level of expectation.
That's why when a guy does a song,
man, that at that first, man,
this album no hit like that first one.
Hello.
Well, you shouldn't have sold 10 million damn copy.
You should have sold 300,000.
And then nobody wouldn't have been said
in the second album don't sound bad.
Right.
But when you sell 10 million copies,
you sell 15 million copies.
Look at him.
If you em and him, he didn't have no choice.
You can't come out there that hard.
And, man, man, he won.
So your one hit wonder.
Yeah.
Millie Vanilly.
Ice, ice, baby.
Yeah.
Damn.
I just hate the fact now when something like this gets out,
now you got to think he's been this way all this life.
Now when things don't go well,
he has to pretend and have to, you know,
he has to be performative and act as if, oh, damn,
and be, you know,
you know, I don't know.
It's weird, but I kind of get it.
You know what cure is this too, huh?
What's that?
Going out there and winning.
Hello.
You know what's unfortunate?
The fact that we're having this conversation
about his mannerisms
and acting like he doesn't care
is the fact that he has to,
he got to play the goddamn bangal Sunday.
You hear me?
And he's not going to win.
So we're going to be having this conversation again
come Sunday because we're going into Houston
and NRG Stadium or field,
whatever it's called and we put in BTA.
Damn, okay.
That goes to all my Houston fans in the chat.
I'll be sitting in the stand behind the bench.
We can argue all game.
And if you come over there,
make sure you bring me a hot dog.
Hey,
they're coming out for loss now.
I know they ain't, they ain't fin of,
they ain't, hey, they ain't fin to come home.
And the offense, really, even with the two turnovers,
the offense didn't play bad.
The defense allowed a 96-yard game winning drive.
We saw the defense give up 36 points.
We saw Josh Allen had two touchdown passes
and two touchdown rushing against the number one,
number two defense last year.
That's who should be disappointed.
That's who's gonna be pissed off, Ocho.
Hey, can I tell you something?
Yeah.
Didn't I see Nico Collins on the injury report?
I don't know, I didn't see that today, Ocho.
I've been busy trying to get some stuff together.
He on the injury report.
I could have swore.
I saw somebody, somebody with a little hamstring something.
He didn't practice today.
I'm glad you said that boy,
I gotta check my fantasy.
I gotta make sure I get him,
I gotta get him on the bench.
Hell, you got, oh, you got, Nico?
Yeah, yeah.
Hamstring, uh-oh.
Yeah, I got to get it.
I got to get him out of there.
Hey, take there, hey, tank there.
Don't come back to what, week four, right?
Damn, I ain't know that, boy.
Hey, Joe.
And now, Joe, you just, you was real confident.
Talk about, talking about they just came off a loss.
They're going to beat us.
Yeah, I think, hey, hey, C.J going to have to show us something,
Ocho.
Hey, show you what?
He's going to have to show you next week.
Not this one.
And he at home, he at home, Ocho.
You think he's going to let somebody come on their front porch,
knock on his dough talking about less fighting?
He's going to go out there and lose.
That man, they ain't going to lose.
I'm going to tell you something right now,
and this goes for everybody in the chat.
If you got common sense, listen,
Jamar Chase had two cats and for 12 yards last week.
Jamar Chase makes $40, $41 million, right?
Something like that?
What do you think they're going to do to that young bull at Dan Houston,
where they're going to have Stingley and last of the playing man-to-man?
What you think they're going to do, Jamar?
Ocho, Ocho.
Do he want, do he want.
They're going to feed him like his 12 years a slave, what?
Ocho.
Ocho.
Ocho, Ocho, do he want to win or do he want the stats?
Which one he won't?
You can't have, he probably going to be the half of them.
He might have two touchdown for 150 with the L.
That's all that.
No, no, no, that's not going to happen.
That's not going to happen.
Don't A.
L. No, no, L must stand for LSU.
L must stand for Louisiana.
That's the only L you're talking about.
I'm telling you what's going to happen.
This is the way to get the flow of the game go.
This is the way a team, when the play of that magnitude makes that kind of money and he has an off game,
they don't play that in that game.
They will not allow that to happen the following game.
But one, he already missed.
Well, listen, can I say something?
If I'm a team just come off the road and I got my home opener,
okay, Ocho, and I lost on the road and I come home with my home, boy, listen,
do you know I'm going to do everything I can for us to get this dub?
Y'all ain't fun to come in here and show out on our feet.
We ain't having that, Ocho.
I'm sorry.
I know what you want.
But, boy, we ain't having that.
We're feeling to get down.
Hey, Joe, can I say something like?
Go ahead.
Every time Joe go against me and what I'm saying,
do you realize I win every single time
and am I always right?
Every time, Joe, and you're doing it again.
Like, when you're going to disagree with me
and be like, you know what, Ocho, you're right?
Because every time I go against what you're saying,
for some reason I always isn't up losing.
No, I ain't, I ain't going with you this one.
I'm sorry.
So, hold on, okay, so you saying, you saying that the Texans going to beat us Sunday.
That's what I'm going to hear you say that.
Yeah, I got the Texas being here.
If I'm a bed man, if I'm a bed man, if I'm a bed man, I'm going to bet I'm going to, I might use prize pick.
I might need to make a couple of bets this weekend.
You know what?
Hey.
You got a bet more or less.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
What, I got to use cold Shannon?
Yeah.
All right, I bet.
Yeah, I got you.
Hey, but hold, the thing is, though, Joe.
is that if the Texas lose,
they would have lost two games at home to start the season.
Oh, yeah.
Two games.
Hold on.
Another thing, two AFC games.
Now, we're making the playoffs.
You don't win your division.
Now it comes head-to-head, conference record.
Hey, hey, I don't know if he's listening,
but C.J.
C.J. Stride, if you're listening.
Hey, boy, you better go out there and do your one-two.
You hear me?
Yes, son.
Hey, hey, Joe, he could do is one, too.
But Burrow and Chase, they're going to do the three-four.
Oh, yeah?
Huh?
Huh?
All right.
I'm T-P.
Man, don't go against me when I tell you something, man.
Godlie, you did the same thing with the NBA playoffs.
Let it go.
Let it go.
You steady talking about old stuff.
You bring old to we in a new, come on, man.
You got a question, Joe.
Was the Cowboys game last week against the Giants?
Was that old too?
No, it ain't that old, but, you know.
We got a little fork in the road, you know,
had a little mishap, it happens.
Yeah, we ain't gonna go, we ain't gonna go 16 and no.
But the fact of the matter of Ocho,
you know what he's trying to get 70 million.
He just put pressure on himself.
He could have took that 55 to 58 million
and moved him on about his business.
That could not- Right, right, right.
Hold on, he probably, he probably,
he probably think like, hell, I can get there 50 million.
I can get that, even if we have a, you know,
a not so good.
Yeah, you know, I'm, I'm swinging for the fences, man.
Hey, yeah, but you guys have to be talking.
I got some of them.
Go ahead, don't you?
I got some of my teeth.
Y'all ain't even tell me, man.
Man, ain't anybody can see for way back there, man.
What the hell you think I got?
Oh, man, yeah.
Yeah, ain't nothing but a little, little public here.
For my cigar.
Yeah, you, you, you, oh, man.
Oh, man.
Hey, listen, he ain't say pupe, he said public,
he said public.
He can't be anybody.
No, I bet to say that, but they know what type of hair it was.
It was my cigar, a little cigar leaf.
Mm, that what it was?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So they say.
Yeah, that's what it looked like to me.
Hey, my baby noticed the way, watching from way in Boston, man.
And y'all, y'all ain't even tell me nothing.
I ain't see it. I ain't either.
Hey, appreciate that, man.
Appreciate that, baby.
I ain't all in you grill like that, bro.
Yeah, yeah.
You're supposed to be in there.
Cambodia's supposed to be in there watching everything.
Right.

Dag says that the expectations haven't changed and that he's commented the Cowboys will bounce back this week after the first week's loss.
Let's take a listen to what Dak had to say.
Yeah, I mean, it sucks to lose.
Damn sure sucks to lose the first one to this team of division game, but still optimistic.
That doesn't change.
Our goals doesn't change how we feel about our team.
As I said, credit to those guys that they beat us tonight.
This is a marathon, though. It's a long season.
And we're going to respond.
We've got great leaders, and I feel confident in just even the message and the feel in the locker room after that.
Yeah, guys are pissed off.
Nobody's more disappointed than the players in that locker room and the coaches and everybody that put this game plan together
and attempted to go out there and execute it and failed to do so.
And as I said, credit to those guys.
They'll have to see us again.
And we've got to turn the page and got another division game next week at home.
What'd you think, Joe?
You share that confidence?
Sounds like the leader to me,
Okay, Ocho.
I want a guy like that lead my team.
Listen, listen.
We squandered game won away on the road.
You know, very disappointed.
But we got to get back to the drawing ball,
Arcan Ocho, because we got a game next week
and we got a team we got to tend to, the Washington commanders.
We can't worry about what happened against the Giants.
We got to move forward.
That's what you want to hear in your leader and your quarterback, bro.
Everybody has to play better.
a period point blank I'm with dag man I'm with the optimism that he that he's
talking about now hey man come on we gotta get back to the drawing boat we got to
get a damn win that's what we got to do you do realize y'all lose this is y'all
owing two in the division here you go here you go I guess you got I guess you got I
know what you're right yeah that ain't none of my business I can know you brought
that up yeah you ain't supposed to put that off in the air you're supposed to keep the
optimism like that guy like you know y'all ain't gonna go oh yeah ain't gonna go oh too
oh here he goes see what I'm saying and then you know if y'all go oh and two
There's a 75 chance y'all go 0 and 3.
Because we got,
because we got the Ravens, we got the flock.
Hey, hey, hey, I ain't even, I ain't,
what I say, they might go on what?
What I said?
They might go on what?
Yeah.
I thought it be, I thought there'd be two and six
at the first six weeks of the seed, two and six.
That's what I see.
I said, oh and six, but Joe optimistic.
Man, y'all got sure.
That's yeah, that optimistic.
So yes, I'm, I do have some optimism.
Yes, I do.
Leave me.
gonna get this thing right.
All right.
Hey, look, look, look,
Jacka y'all look team and gotta, gotta win,
boy, y'all feeling good.
It's just week.
No, no, I ain't just week one.
It's just week one.
Okay, you know what?
And you're probably gonna say it's just week two next Sunday, too.
See what I'm saying?
Hey, I'm just, my joke, Joe, I just,
you be boasting and you keep boasting
each of my optimism, all the words in front of the press
in front of the camera, that ain't got nothing to do
when it's time to get up there at one o'clock on Sunday.
That ain't gonna help.
Yeah, dude.
What?
Go ahead, Joe.
Go ahead.
I'm going to let your team.
It lets your team and your teammates know, Ocho, that the guy that you got at the hell,
yeah, he's going to be ready.
I'm going to do my part.
I'm going to be a better quarterback next weekend, this weekend coming up.
Yeah, we're going to be a better team.
We're going to get a win.
But he was ready.
He's been ready since training camp.
He's been ready since OTA.
Come on, man.
He's been ready since the preseason.
Oh.
And they got the Giants.
They lost to the Giants.
Now they got the command.
Sanders coming in.
They got Baltimore and Rio.
Then they're at Houston, Tampa at home,
on the road against Green Bay.
So they play Tampa on Thursday night.
They play Green Bay on a Sunday night.
And then they play Philly on a Monday night.
Y'all act like we're supposed to be scared or something.
Hey, um, hey, um, 0 and 6, boy.
Man, you got a cheer.
You got a chill.
Oh, and six.
You got a chill.
Ooh.
Did you hit that schedule?
Did you hit that schedule?
Did you just ran off?
Boy, do you know we them boys?
What you mean?
That damn, that's scary.
But y'all don't make no noise.
Yeah, we are going to make some noise.
We're going to make some noise.
Yeah, we're going to make some noise.
Y'all ain't made no noise.
It's been a while since y'all made some noise, Joe.
We're going to make some of course.
We lost one game for week one.
Joe, you're a little bit boy.
We y'all last time y'all made some more.
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
You stay the time about old stuff, man.
I don't know why you.
Joe, you were 15.
Joe, you got to think about it.
Joe, you were 15.
Oh, can we, we're in 20206.
You didn't even have your ear peers back then, Joe.
At 15, yeah, I had my ears period at 15, y'all.
Your mom let you get to do that?
No, my uncle took me and my mom
got pissed.
She was pissed.
See, I do.
Boy, them southern balls don't be pissed.
She was pissed.
She was pissed.
She was pissed.
She was pissed.
I was pissed.
I was never forget.
We was doing basketball season, too.
So you know, when you first get them done, you ain't supposed to do it.
take them out, huh? Right, yeah.
Well, she made me take them out one game and I never put them back in, but like the
next year I went and got them redone again. Yeah, you know my mom play that, my mom play out
that. Hey, you got yours done with a gun? Yeah, when you sit there and they put that little gun
on there and they yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But see, before the gun came out, people piercing their
ears with a needle. They just put ice cube to freeze the load. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
My sister did her own ears. Yeah, I said to do my cousin of ears. Yeah, freeze the
with ice cube and take a saw a needle and stick through it and then take that brood,
had a broom straw back then.
Yeah.
I don't know how they put in there now.
You put a broom straw or a little piece of string in there.
Yeah.
Hey, uh, uh, uh, uh, oh, oh, oh, oh, so I remember back then, I've seen people do that.
Boy, you gotta be a little gangster to do something like that, what?
You gotta have a little gangst in you.
That's how I did mine, Joe.
No, you didn't.
No, I'm saying, with the needle ice.
I did mine when I was jammed up.
What'd you get jammed up for?
Hey, you know, I did a little time, bro.
But you were trying to, you were slanging?
No, no, no, no, no.
I just, I was a little shorty.
I was a little shorty.
So when I would, you know, I was, you went to juvie,
huh?
Tattoos and then all.
How you know?
I just, I just figured you probably,
where you did a little time in juvie?
I'm saying, what job were doing?
Doing miscellaneous and stuff?
You know, just being bad, delinquents?
Taking, taking, taking them calls back in the day.
I bet you, I bet you remember the mission ship,
Mitsubisi, Galant.
Yeah.
That that long ago.
I was a man, I was about 1615.
Joe, I was bad, boy.
Yeah.
I was bad.
Damn, what?
Yeah, I mean, hey, he spent a little time
of, you know, I.S.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Hey, what I have to stand for?
In school, in school suspension.
Oh, yeah, we got ours.
And beaches called CSI.
I don't even know what it stood for.
Hey, Ocho.
CSI.
The crime scene in Belmont.
No, I'm not, that's the, that's the show.
I'm talking about CSI.
It's in school.
You get in trouble, you gotta stay after school.
They call the CSI.
Yeah.
I mean, can you explain to us what the C and the
Issaid is?
I don't know what it, I don't, can't remove
what it stands for, but I remember who the person was.
His name was Mr. Colman at Miami Beach Senior High.
Hey, I would show, you should have to,
you had to take class in the cubicle.
You had to sit in the cubicle all day.
Hey, I was an honor.
Yeah, and everything is blocked off, Joe.
So yeah, look, you can't look at no side.
You can't see nobody.
You just sitting in.
Yo, you heard me, Joe?
Yeah, you what?
I had honors classes.
What's you talking about?
And you were in school suspension with honors class?
Because I was skipping school.
I was skipping class.
Oh, Joe, how are you honor students with your grades?
You should be honored that you got out.
That's the honor.
Hey, I had a brilliant mind.
I just chose not to stop myself.
I think they're here.
Hey, Joe, listen, I'm a joke.
You don't achieve what I achieve
without having a brilliant mind.
Yeah.
Impossible.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know.
Well, we know if you applied yourself,
but that's the thing.
I don't know if you're honest to do it
if you applied yourself.
Yeah.
I'm saying you were on Dean's list and all that?
Yeah.
Jimmy Dean, the sausage.
That would.
But I'm not doing Dean.
I was on the dean.
You know I graduated at top of my class, Joe.
Paul a Dean.
Validictorian?
Huh?
You was Valid Victorian?
Even though I graduated late, I was a valedictorian for the four people that graduated late.
Damn.
I was first.
He just had the high GPA of the people that graduated when he graduated.
He said, no, by this class.
Hey, that count, though.
Hey.
This man graduated Paula Dean.
You're going to talk about you.
