Spotter Claus said this for Travis Hunter. It wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Starting point is 00:02:55 It wasn't a dry eye in America. I don't cry much, but man, I cried for this young man. I mean, look. The love that he showed Coach Prime because he said Coach Prime was the one that believed in him and said that, you know, I can play both sides of the ball. And Prime treated him like his own
Starting point is 00:03:11 son. He's always looked out after him. He's like, you know, he trusted Coach Prime because a talent like this, the likelihood of you getting the number one overall college high school player not at all come to an hbcu is not very good and then he followed he trusted him so much
Starting point is 00:03:32 when he left he could have went to a lot of there are a lot of d1 schools that had the bag for him he said no i believe in coach prime coach prime i follow coach prime to j state i'm gonna follow him to see you and it's more than nobody in the history of college won more awards in a season than what this young man did this year he won the belitnikov he won the nagurski he won uh uh no he won the bignaric he won the ronnie lot he won the heisman he was he he won it all and and yeah and you can tell you can tell he's such a humble kid he wants to do the right thing yes he's green yes he's young we were all young we were all green we all made mistakes but it's hard not to root for the kid it really is and I know look I know people like Jenty should have won and
Starting point is 00:04:25 you know, say to Jenty, you know, I love, I look. We've seen guys have rushing seasons like this. We've never seen, and we might not ever see a guy do what he's been able to do on both sides of the ball at the level in which
Starting point is 00:04:41 he's done it. I'm not taking snaps out of it. People are like, snaps is not a stat. Do you believe have you ever seen anybody in your lifetime? I'm talking about somebody 50 or younger. So I'm going to say between the ages of 50 and 35, have you ever seen somebody
Starting point is 00:04:58 at the collegiate level play at the level in which you played this year? I don't believe you can say you can't. Mm-hmm. And that's why he won the award. So,
Starting point is 00:05:15 I'm happy for him. I'm happy for his family. It was great. His speech was great. Well-deserved. Well-deserved. Oh, Joe. Travis Hunter is the Associate AP College Football Player of the Year. He received 26 of 43 votes on a panel of AP Top 25 voters.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Hunter kept piling up the hardware. He also won the Walter Kemp Player of the Year Award, along with the Chuck McNerrick award as top receiver and the Bolitnikoff award. No, the Chuck McNerrick as the top defensive player and the Bolitnikoff
Starting point is 00:05:56 award as the top receiver. And he should have won the Thorpe award. Because if he'd have won that, nobody else, I don't believe another player would have ever won these war awards. Well, that's not the only one.
Starting point is 00:06:09 He got one more coming too now. Oh, yeah. He got one more coming. That's some good hardware too before the draft. That's some real good hardware. But, Ocho, does Thorpe understand
Starting point is 00:06:22 how that looks? I'm not saying, let's just say one single argument, Ocho. He doesn't win the award. But dope understand how that looks? I'm not saying, let's just say one single argument, Ocho. He doesn't win the award. But do you know how that looks when you don't have him as a finalist? And he just won the Chuck McNerrick as the top defensive player. Is DB not on the defensive side?
Starting point is 00:06:37 They don't know what they're doing. They don't know what they're doing. Okay, we can't give them everything. We can't give them everything. Why do you think? Because they didn't you you know you know how they are no you know how the people are the people that are in positions of power you know we we gonna find a way we gonna find a way around it we're gonna find some type of excuse yeah and i would love i would love to hear the reasoning behind whoever makes the
Starting point is 00:07:01 decision on whether he wins it or not why why wouldn't you give it to him? What's the gripe? Did you watch him play? Do you actually understand the game of football and what he was able to do this season as a defensive back? No? Oh, come on now.
Starting point is 00:07:16 It's always personal. It's always personal. Mm-hmm. He had a phenomenal season. He had a phenomenal season. The number 10 season the number 10 boys in state grabbed the college football playoff spot beating the number 19 unlv uh uh running revs in the mountain west championship aston genti uh 32 carries 209 yards and a touchdown um many believe that he closed the gap. Some think he might have overtaken Travis Hunter, who was off.
Starting point is 00:07:47 I don't, because his odds did fall, Ocho, because the young man, what's he now, like 150, 160 yards away from Barry Sanders' record? Ash, give me his total numbers now, because I think he has 344. I think he had 212 3 oh yeah 312 32 344 uh so he had 344 carries but i still think he's 100 and something 150 yards let's just say give or take 10 yards uh from barry's uh single season rushing record like i said bowl game so he's going he's got another game to play. And the thing that gets him, Ocho, is that he's going to pop one.
Starting point is 00:08:30 If you go back and look, he popped a 30, 40, 50, 60, 80 yarder. So now he's playing with house money. Because if I give him, if he pops one for 70, 80 yards, Ocho, I give him the ball 20 more times. He's going to have at least 80 yards. I don't like, I don't, listen. I give him the ball 20 more times. He's going to have at least 80 yards. Listen, I don't think people understand. Yeah. Ocho,
Starting point is 00:08:52 before you go, Ocho, he has 344 carries. He's three yards short of 2,500. So he needs, I think Barry had 26, 28. So he needs, I think Barry had 26-28. So he needs 132 yards to break Barry's single season rushing total. Now, remember now, Ojo, Barry did play in the Holiday Bowl.
Starting point is 00:09:21 He rushed for 225 and five touchdowns, but those stats didn't count. And a lot of NFL players are voicing their support for Aston Jenty. Jonathan Stewart, Aston Jenty is the Heisman winner. If you swap Colorado, they are in the top 10 team. Matt Leinart, Brock Heward said Aston Jenty should win the Heisman Trophy. Yeah, you got that right.
Starting point is 00:09:49 I have a strong disagreement. I just want to name all the people that have done what Aston Jente has done. No disrespect. No disrespect to him. You know, kudos, salute, you know, for his achievement this season. Barry Sanders has been a 2,000-yard rusher in college. Am I correct? Melvin Gordon has been a 2,000-yard rusher in college. Am I correct? Melvin Gordon has been a 2,000-yard rusher in college as well.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Am I correct? Marcus Allen. Am I correct? Yes. Okay. Derrick Henry. The first 2,000-yard rusher in college. LaDainian Tomlinson.
Starting point is 00:10:20 Am I correct? Adrian Peay. Wait, wait a minute. Yes. No, I meant to say. No, AP did 1960th freshman year. am I correct Adrian Peay wait wait a minute yes not no I meant to say no AP did 1960
Starting point is 00:10:28 freshman year he did it twice Troy Davis he went to South he did it twice down here down south of Miami let me keep going
Starting point is 00:10:35 Matt Forte had a thousand right 2000 correct Ricky Williams 2000 had a 2000
Starting point is 00:10:42 in the RC correct Larry Johnson Kansas City and played for Cincinnati Larry Johnson had a 2,000 yard season correct Larry Johnson had a 2,000 um Ann Smith from Central Florida had a 2,500 had a 2,000 yard season right
Starting point is 00:10:58 Ron Dane I'm still going on and on and on the people that have achieved exactly what Ashton Gentry has done what Travis Hunter has done this season on both sides of the ball hasn't been done before it hasn't been done before
Starting point is 00:11:19 at the level at the level he's done it we've had two way players we've had the Charles Wilsons, you know, the Chan Bailey's. Is it Chris Gamble? Chan Bailey's. Ohio State.
Starting point is 00:11:35 What you call them? Miles Jack. Yes, they've done it, but they didn't do it to the extent in which he did it every goddamn snap of the season. Both sides of the ball. Efficient on both sides of the ball.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Come on, man. I respect what brother Jenty has done, but everybody's done it. Nobody's done what Travis Hunter has done this year on the defensive side of the ball and the offensive side of the ball. Every snap? Come on, man. What are we talking about? And that's no disrespect to my brother from Boise State. Man, you had a hell of a season.
Starting point is 00:12:17 But what Travis Hunter did this year, man, is different, man. That's some old alien type. Man, come on, man. I'm going to let you finish. I don't want to say the wrong one. Yeah, for me, for me, I think
Starting point is 00:12:36 Travis Hunter is the best collegiate player in college football. And I'm not talking about snaps because snaps is not a stat. But I'm saying if you look at what he did on the offensive side of football, you look at what he's done on the defensive side of the football. It's hard for me to say that there is, I've seen a better college player. I haven't, I don't know if we've seen,
Starting point is 00:12:58 I don't know if we've seen a better college athlete that played a game of football. I can't say that I've seen that. And to, to, to be top five in receiving yards, to be top five in receptions, to play at the level that he played at on the defensive side of the football, that's just me. Look, and I understand, I respect these guys.
Starting point is 00:13:18 Matt Leiter is a Heisman Trophy winner, and he gets the vote. Brock Huard analyzed the game. I love the way he called the game. Jonathan Stewart played in the league and played at a very high level. So I respect all these guys' opinions. But for me,
Starting point is 00:13:36 the best collegiate player in football is Travis Hunter. I mean, anyone that would disagree, again, some people are going to hold Travis at the stake because of their personal vendettas against Prime, because it's Colorado, for whatever reason. They won't give him his credit, his due credit.
Starting point is 00:13:53 Those people that can't get or side with their personal reason for hating Prime are going to allow that to affect what Travis Hunter has done and their decision-making when it comes to, you know, the Heisman voting or just like, it's ridiculous, man. It's ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:14:11 And those that have played the game of football, that have actually played the game of ball and are watching them do what he's doing and still have thoughts that someone else should win the Heisman is beyond me because I've never seen it. And I was a great athlete and I ain't never seen no shit like that what the hell is y'all looking at
Starting point is 00:14:32 and I don't care and my thing is I don't care if he can do it at the next level we're talking about at this level the Heisman trophy ain't got nothing to do with the NFL level we're talking about this year and for people to sayan Trophy ain't got nothing to do with the NFL level. We're talking about this year. And for people to say, well, he's not even a top 10 player. Come on now.
Starting point is 00:14:49 I believe, look, yeah, see, now y'all just saying stuff just to say stuff. Because he is a top 10 player and his draft is going to, his draft status is going to reflect that. Look, maybe he won't be as good a receiver in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Maybe he won't be as good a DB. But we're talking about right now as a collegiate player, Ocho. That's what we're talking about. Because who's to say that Ashton Gentry is going to go to the NFL and play and have the type of career in the NFL that he had in college? A lot of times, Troy Davis, I don't even think, played us now. Matt Forte had a couple of good years in the NFL that he had in college. A lot of times, Troy Davis, I don't even think played a snap. Matt Forte had a couple of good years in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:15:29 I think the Smith kid from UCF, I think he played a year or two in Detroit, but he never had the... Obviously, Barry and LaDainian, Marcus Allen, Ron Dane. Ron Dane didn't have the type
Starting point is 00:15:46 of career. He was the all-time lead rusher in college history. It's different at the next level now. It's one thing to be able to do that. When you get to that next level with them grown men, they got mouths to feed.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Them grown men, they have a wife to take care of. They got kids. Mortgages due. Card note. Rent. Insurance. Side chick. All right. You finna come to the next level of the 2000 every season?
Starting point is 00:16:21 Man, s***. I'm Michael Kassin, founder and CEO of 3C Ventures and your guide on Good Company, the podcast where I sit down with the boldest innovators
Starting point is 00:17:32 shaping what's next. In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there, and if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content.
Starting point is 00:18:08 The term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things up a bit in the most crowded of markets. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In the fall of 1986, Ronald Reagan found himself at the center of a massive scandal that looked like it might bring down his presidency. Did you make a mistake in sending arms to Tehran, sir?
Starting point is 00:18:48 No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask... I'm Leon Nafak, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran- Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you.
Starting point is 00:19:22 Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see. Muhammad Ali was never afraid to express himself loudly and boldly and stays true to form in Ali and Me, an eight-part Audible original. Guided by his own words, this series explores Ali's life and legacy through never-before-heard audio recordings and discussions with those who knew him best. Muhammad had this real sense of his own personal values and principles, things he believed in, his own sense of conviction. Those convictions never wavered.
Starting point is 00:20:12 Hosted by Muhammad's wife, Lani Ali, and his close friend, award-winning broadcaster, John Ramsey, Ali and Me goes beyond the boxing ring to delve deeply into Ali's extraordinary life through conversations with Billy Crystal, Mike Tyson, Rosie Perez, Common, Will Smith, and Bob Costas. It created a North Star for me of how I want to be in the world, you know. As a child, as a young person, he gave credence to my audacity. There's no debate that this is the greatest global sports figure of our lifetime. Listen to Ali and me now on Audible. Every, because here's the thing in college and what I try to tell people.
Starting point is 00:21:02 Look, on a college team, let's take the best college team ever assembled. Let's just say out of 115 players, they got 30 NFL players. The NFL got a 53-man roster. All of them most old in the NFL. All of them there. Even the 15
Starting point is 00:21:20 or 16 practice squad guys are in the NFL. That's the difference, what you're going against. And what I tell people this, Ochoa, I tell people all the time. I don't care if you take the best player, the best offensive lineman, the best defensive lineman. You take the best DB, you take the best wide receiver. If that guy is in the NFL, he can make it look foolish.
Starting point is 00:21:45 An average DB can take a great wide receiver and tie him. What happened to him? He must be hurt. And the same thing. I've seen great offensive linemen and guys, just guys. How you beat that man for two sacks?
Starting point is 00:22:03 That man's a first-team all-pro tackle. And you got two sacks that man's a first team all pro tackle and you got two sacks and three pressures on him yep yep it's different when you're going up against a grown man and his only job is to what be a football
Starting point is 00:22:22 player these guys gotta go to class they gotta go to study hall. They got to do all this other stuff. Professional football. Like where I said, basically, that it's grown men at the next level and it's not going to be easy. And then they will probably say, well, hell, the same will go for Travis Hunter and him being successful at the next level. Listen, if you know football, if you understand skill sets, if you understand DNA, if you understand a person being special at what they do, you know when it's going to transition well. He's one of them players.
Starting point is 00:22:59 He's one of those people. He's one of those people. It's going to transition. Just so people don't say, oh, you just said it's difficult when players go from college and the chance of making it at the next level or being as successful as you were in college at the next level is difficult.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Yes. But you can tell. You just know. Ocho. But Ocho, we're not saying he's going to dominate the NFL like he did college. Yeah, but I'm saying, let's just say he has to speak. Let's just say they have packages. And because you know what happens, Ocho, when you have a dominant college career,
Starting point is 00:23:42 people automatically assume you're going to come do that in the NFL. But you set those expectations by doing what you've done at the collegiate level. So it doesn't matter when you play football or basketball or baseball or whatever the case may be. When you have, when you've set lofty expectations, when you see
Starting point is 00:24:01 guys like a Fred Curley in track or you see guys like a Michael Norman in track and they have outstanding careers. What is it? Xavier X-Man. He won the 100 and the 400 meters but injuries. So they expect
Starting point is 00:24:18 you to go, I mean, but there are some guys, you look at Michael Johnson, Michael didn't have that great a college career and he's one of the two or three greatest track sprinters in the history of the sport. When you talk about speed, so you talk about, you know, from 400 down, I mean, what you got, Usain? Maybe Carl? That's it.
Starting point is 00:24:42 But he didn't have a stellar career like some of these others. Like Carl. Carl could have made the eight Olympics had he not boycotted. But you don't know, Ocho. But I'm just saying, I'm throwing NFL apart. I'm talking about right now. What we saw this year, Ocho. Think about the great receivers.
Starting point is 00:25:03 When you saw Megatron at Georgia Tech, you knew what time it was. When you saw Megatron at Georgia Tech, you knew what time it was. When you saw Larry Fitzgerald at Pittsburgh, you knew what time it was. When you saw Julio Jones at Alabama, you knew what time it was. When you saw Travis Hunter at f***ing Colorado, you knew what time it is.
Starting point is 00:25:23 Well, I knew Megatron would even be better pro. I said, because if he ever had a quarterback, he could be something special. Because he was at Georgia Tech, they ran the football. So, he catches 45 passes. But when you look at his size, he's
Starting point is 00:25:40 6'4", 240. He's running 4'3". You're like, who will deal with that? First of all, who's going to press it? What DB tried to press Megatron? Okay, now you get him in the red zone. You got to give him gunner. You got to give him gunner support.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Basically, line two guys up over top of him. Or he's going to jump up and catch the ball. He got a 40-plus-inch burden. He's 6'4". He's 240. So we saw when he got a quarterback, well, you just saw the numbers that he put up. He just had arguably one of the greatest single seasons in the history. He still has the record almost 2,000 yards in 16 games.
Starting point is 00:26:24 So you're absolutely right. Sometimes you can just look at a guy and see it translate. You're going to be him. You're going to be him. You're going to be nice. Yeah. Well, guess what, Ocho? Next Saturday, we're going to find out.
Starting point is 00:26:38 All this speculation, I think he should win because there are going to be some disappointed folks on both sides. People are going to say Jenty should have won if he doesn't win. People are going to say Travis should have won if he doesn't win. But hey, whatever the case, it's not a situation where it's like Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow was the overwhelming favorite.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Reggie Bush was an overwhelming favorite. People shouldn't even be sad. If Jenty wins, if Travis wins, at the end of the day, both of them won regardless. And I'm not talking about the goddamn Heisman. I'm just saying in general,
Starting point is 00:27:11 both of them won regardless, no matter who's going home with that goddamn trophy. They both had great seasons. They both getting ready to do great things at the next level. Yeah. Man, look here, Ocho. I want that trophy. I happen to get here and tell them, man, hey,
Starting point is 00:27:27 I'm just happy to be a part of it. I want that trophy. Because guess what? Yeah. Because they remember that. You see all those Heisman House, and they have all those old guys. They have Archie Griffin, and they have they have
Starting point is 00:27:43 Marcus Allen, they have Barry, and they have Tebow, and they have all have Marcus Allen and they have Barry and they have Tebow and they have all these guys. Bro, I want to be a part of that. Okay. Yeah, because guess what, Ocho? 15 years from now, ain't nobody going to remember no 2000 yard rush season if you don't win the trophy.
Starting point is 00:28:02 We remember Marcus he was the first to do it he won the Heisman Barry did it he won the Heisman Ricky did it he won the Heisman Henry did it
Starting point is 00:28:15 he won the Heisman y'all don't mean to say if you ain't got that trophy to come out with it listen I'm with you when you're right but
Starting point is 00:28:23 yeah I'm with you but that're right but yeah I'm with you but that 2000 yard it was a beautiful thing it was a great thing you know but so many other people have done it already yeah what Travis Hunter has done we haven't seen that before not that level consistently week in and week out
Starting point is 00:28:40 so it's going to be very, very interesting. I'm ready for Saturday to come. I'm ready for Saturday to come so we can find out Travis Hunter fights back, tells people to mind their own business. His fiance released an eight minute long
Starting point is 00:28:59 video addressing everything. Can I say something before you even go up? Can I say something? Oh, Joe. We're in an era of social media. We're in an era of the internet. And what happens is
Starting point is 00:29:14 if you don't put anything online when it comes to your relationship or the person you're dealing with, then you don't have to worry about anything. But the minute it touches online, then everyone is welcome and is allowed to have an opinion on say a topic, whatever that may be. And that includes Travis Hunter, his fiance, everything he has going on. Some of the things that we see online, you know, I mean, I don't,
Starting point is 00:29:38 don't really care to chime in about it, but everyone else does because now you put us in your business. Small example, myself, you know, I'm one who doesn't care and always been in that media, you know, so I'm one that over shares when things are going good. So I'm also one when things are going bad, I'm going to continue to over share because I don't want you to think like, oh, I'm only going to show you the good when things are going beautiful and all of a sudden when things, oh, I'm only going to show you the good when things are going beautiful. And all of a sudden when things are bad, I go into hiding. No, if I live publicly when things are good, I'm going to live publicly when things are bad. So that's something I'm used
Starting point is 00:30:15 to. But as far as Travis concerned and his fiance, you're young and the best way to go about things, if you don't like the people in your personal business, then you just got to be offline. You got to keep your relationship offline, you know, if that makes sense. Mm-hmm. Yeah, yeah. I don't like... Coach O, you know I've been supportive. Oh, okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:30:42 But she should never trend in front of Travis. Wait, say it again? Why are you trending? We know you because been supportive. Oh, okay, okay. But she should never trend in front of Travis. Wait, say it again? Why you trending? We know you because of Travis. Okay, okay. You're never going to be... We know her because of Travis. Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:53 She's not... Okay. She's not... We knew Giselle before Tom because she was Giselle. Okay, I... She's not a standalone. She's a stand-beside. Beyonce is a standalone. We's a stand-beside. Beyoncé is a standalone.
Starting point is 00:31:06 We knew Beyoncé before we ever, before her and Jake ever got together. Yeah, I'm going to use that. I appreciate that. Sure. Right, right. I don't get. Bro, you have to understand.
Starting point is 00:31:24 And she's like, these women, there have to understand. And she's like, these women, there are Adidas. Do you understand how this works? And I'm going to, like I said, I don't know the one, and I'm on her side, and I wanted to win at the end of the day. And
Starting point is 00:31:37 if Travis happy, some things, guys, how many of y'all listen to what the internet say? None of you. But y'all expect this man to listen. Do y'all listen to what the internet say? None of you. But y'all expect this man to listen. Do y'all expect this man to take y'all advice on his relationship? When who advice do you take?
Starting point is 00:31:56 Who advice have you ever taken? That being said, young lady, like Adidas, when these people come around, there are going to be times you're going to have to sign. He's going to have to sign footballs. He's going to have to sign helmets. He's going to have to sign jerseys. He's going to have to do me. He's going to have to take pictures.
Starting point is 00:32:16 You know how I know? Because when I go to sponsors, I have to sign footballs. I have to sign helmets. I have to sign photos. I have to sign jerseys. That's a part of it. He understands that. You're about to come into a situation. You're going to be,
Starting point is 00:32:33 have more money at your disposable than you even dreamed of. And why is that? That's a part of it. And for you to say, when he's taken, when he's taking those talk about how long do I have to stay here all day? You should graciously and willingly stay there a month. If that's what it requires. And for you to talk about, well, the reason why I left him on for my inbox.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Well, you know, he's younger than me and he cheated. You see, now you threw that man on the bus. We didn't need to know that. We did not need to know that. Why you put that man business in the street? Are you perfect? That's, look, I don't like the part of oversharing in a relationship because it was unnecessary.
Starting point is 00:33:20 Why you and Travis got together? Did you have to say he wasn't my type? That was for nobody to know you don't have to share everything people you don't and now you it's none of my business but it makes
Starting point is 00:33:36 you it makes you it paints you in a bad light oh he wasn't your type but now he is my type well it seems like your type might be george washington ben franklin you listen says grant it might be some of those types you know what i'm saying ocho just you young lady you don't have to share that's you and travis relationship guys i don't know what y'all want ocho and I to do. Ocho has met Travis once.
Starting point is 00:34:06 I've met him once. The best. He has the best mentor that he could possibly have. And that's one prime. He has the best. Guys, we're just like you. We're on the internet. He's not going to listen to us.
Starting point is 00:34:26 Sometimes you have to, something has to happen to you. You have to see it for yourself. Somebody can't tell you about it, Ocho. If somebody you didn't know offered you advice on finances, anybody on the chat, who y'all listening to him? If somebody that y'all didn't know, tell y'all what y'all should do with y'all money. Say, hey, give me your money listen no you're not so you he looks at you guys and i'm sure he appreciates your support but he's not gonna take your advice when it comes to his dating or who he's gonna be with i just have a problem with her sharing i have a problem with her understanding and ocho she's young she doesn't understand what comes along with it. But I'm trying to enlighten her. As somebody that's been in that space, as somebody that understands it, when you're dealing with sponsors and you're dealing with advertisers,
Starting point is 00:35:12 you go into a room and there are footballs and there are helmets and there's jerseys and there's pictures. And you're taking pictures. You understand. For the kind of money that they're going to be paying him, I don't really think that's an awful lot to ask. I don't. I could be wrong, Ocho. And some
Starting point is 00:35:30 people might think, well, you know, hey. But I just don't think I just don't think, ma'am, you need to have this because you were trendy. Trav won the Heisman. You didn't win no war. We shouldn't have to have this conversation about you. Y'all chose
Starting point is 00:35:46 to be together. You're young. Travis is young. Everybody knows that first love. The best thing about it, when it comes to that first love, you try to make it last as long as possible because you think that's the one. I'm hoping it is. I love
Starting point is 00:36:01 what they're doing. I love that for Travis. I love that for her as well. I love love in. And I love it. I love what they're doing. I love that for Travis. I love that for her as well. I love, I love love in general. I love it. You know, I just say the issue is if you can, uh,
Starting point is 00:36:12 understanding if you, if you have relationship online, it allows everybody in your personal business and everybody to have an opinion. If you can't take that and you have to, you know, come out and say, well, this is that, then you have to take it offline.

Starting point is 00:37:40 In this episode, I'm joined by Anjali Sood, CEO of Tubi, for a conversation that's anything but ordinary. We dive into the competitive world of streaming, how she's turning so-called niche into mainstream gold, connecting audiences with stories that truly make them feel seen. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. It's this idea that there are so many stories out there. And if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Get a front row seat to where media, marketing, technology, entertainment, and sports collide. And hear how leaders like Anjali are carving out space and shaking things
Starting point is 00:38:26 up a bit in the most crowded of markets. No. It became known as the Iran-Contra affair. And I'm not taking any more questions in just a second. I'm going to ask Attorney General.
Starting point is 00:39:04 I'm Leon Nafok, co-creator of Slow Burn. In my podcast, Fiasco, Iran Contra, you'll hear all the unbelievable details of a scandal that captivated the nation nearly 40 years ago, but which few of us still remember today. The things that happened were so bizarre and insane, I can't begin to tell you. Please do. To hear the whole story, listen to Fiasco, Iran Contra on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,
Starting point is 00:39:45 your hands can't hit what your eyes can't see. Muhammad Ali was never afraid to express himself loudly and boldly and stays true to form in Ali and Me, an eight-part Audible original. Guided by his own words, this series explores Ali's life and legacy through never-before-heard audio recordings and discussions with those
Starting point is 00:40:05 who knew him best. Muhammad had this real sense of his own personal values and principles, things he believed in, his own sense of conviction. Those convictions never wavered. Hosted by Muhammad's wife, Lani Ali, and his close friend, award-winning broadcaster, John Ramsey. Ali and Me goes beyond the boxing ring to delve deeply into Ali's extraordinary life through conversations with Billy Crystal, Mike Tyson, Rosie Perez, Common, Will Smith, and Bob Costas.
Starting point is 00:40:37 It created a North Star for me of how I want to be in the world, you know. As a child, as a young person, he gave credence to my audacity. There's no debate that this is the greatest global sports figure of our lifetime. Listen to Ali and Me, now on Audible. If you, look here,
Starting point is 00:41:07 I'm just saying, when you date publicly, that breakup's gonna be publicly. And just like you, oh, that goo goo, I love this man, I love this. When you do all that publicly,
Starting point is 00:41:17 guess what happens when it goes sideways? You see it, when they date publicly, now they saying this and I didn't do that and you didn't pick the kids up and you was sleeping with this person and you, you see?
Starting point is 00:41:28 All that playing to you. You know, hey, you finna get exactly what it is. When things are bad, oh, you finna get that too. You finna get the good and the bad. I mean, that's his day. I mean, yeah. You ain't getting nothing.
Starting point is 00:41:43 Yeah. I like to speculate man he like this oh he like this oh he on date nothing but this oh he on date nothing but that oh he do this and nobody wants to come see me nowhere with nobody
Starting point is 00:41:58 so I don't know how y'all know what I like you said 210 and you all in I know what I like you know what I like no I said 210 and you're all in. I know what I like. No, I like who high at the top, beat at the bottom. That's what I like. That's what I'm looking for. But, uh, look,
Starting point is 00:42:17 no, bro, ain't no backpedaling. I'm just saying. I don't agree with what she's saying. I agree with them to have a right to be together. That's their decision. She ain't got no gun to his head. So I'm glad everybody, ain't nobody else, only you and I, Ocho, better be in a situation
Starting point is 00:42:33 where someone didn't approve of our relationship and we just walked away. He's not wired like that because if I'd have listened to that, people just, I wouldn't have became what I became because people didn't believe I was going to play in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:42:50 They didn't believe I could go to college and get a degree. Oh, Joe, you'd have never left Liberty city. If you listen to other people, when you're a professional athlete, you're wired differently because there's going to be a lot of times that people don't believe in you.
Starting point is 00:43:03 They say they believe in you, but you know that they don't. Because everybody don't see your vision. It wasn't revealed to them. And that's okay. The problem that I have is that she's revealing too much information. Travis is revealing too much information. You didn't need to tell that she got drunk and cried herself to sleep.
Starting point is 00:43:23 That was romantic. That was unnecessary. We didn't need to know that. It was. That herself to sleep. That was romantic. That was unnecessary. We didn't need to know that. It was. That's between you and her. Think about it, though. Listen to the words. Man, that ain't no romantic, Ocho.
Starting point is 00:43:31 Got drunk and cried herself to sleep. Now, think about Lenny Williams. What did Lenny Williams do? He cried and watched TV until TV went off. So what's the real current theme? You see how you cope with things? Right, right, right, right. Ocho, you see how she has to cope?
Starting point is 00:43:51 Do you see how she has to cope with things? Alcohol, drugs, you see? Is that a good thing? No, it's not. Right, right, right, right. Drugs and alcohol is not a coping mechanism. Oh, no. I know.
Starting point is 00:44:06 I ain't never been down that path, but I can agree with you when you're right. Because I've heard the stories for those that cope in that manner. Now, my coping, can I tell you? I can tell you about my days when I cried. My coping and how I cope, I cope with cigars. I cope with caffeine. You know, when things aren't going well for me, you know, when I was in the fetal position during my time, you know, I cope with caffeine. When things aren't going well for me, when I was in the fetal position during my time,
Starting point is 00:44:27 I go to Starbucks. I go to the Cuban spot. During my time, my coping mechanism, I game. I play FIFA. I play Madden. I play Call of Duty. My type of coping is a little bit different as opposed to those who consume alcohol
Starting point is 00:44:42 and pills or whatever it may be. My coping is just different. little bit different as opposed to those who consume alcohol, you know, and, and, and, you know, and pills or whatever it may be, you know, my coping is just different. I just, it's just thinking, Hey, I'll just think about the pain that I'm talking about that, that, that, that fetal position pain, like every man has been through it. And, and, and some, and sometimes it changes men for the worse for those that have been through that fetal position, because they never see women the same. They never see women the same after that kind of hurt and that kind of pain. And I wish it on no man. No.
Starting point is 00:45:15 I wish it on no man. And everybody out here, you know, they walk around thinking they tough and I'm so-and-so. Yeah, okay. But you will find the one that day will have you in that fetal position, boy. And when she do, well, may God be with you. Say no joke. Yes, sir. Yes.
Starting point is 00:45:34 But Ocho, everybody, people make it seem like, oh, she... So what about the people that you thought was going to be together for 10, 15 years and they don't make it? Then what do you say? Y'all make it seem like it's a guarantee that if everything is perfect today it'll be that way tomorrow it'll be that way five years from tomorrow or 10 years from tomorrow then what yeah
Starting point is 00:45:56 look how you do with how you do i i'm a very private person i don't reveal as much as i don't reveal a whole lot if you notice i used to i used to reveal my dogs and and show different things i said let me shut this down let me shut this down and it's okay i never i never revealed a partner they speculate but then I mean the only one time I think that was in 2012 we went to the first honors was in Indy and I got a picture snap
Starting point is 00:46:32 but I'm okay with y'all not being in my business I don't want nobody talking about kids I just recently started posting my kids I'm like hey y'all okayall, are you okay with it? For the longest, I've never posted them.
Starting point is 00:46:49 We're grown. We good. My son, I've never posted my grandson. That's not my job. That's his parents' job. If they want to post him, they can post him. I don't do that. My other daughter, hey, yeah, you can post.
Starting point is 00:47:05 Hey, you good. I just like to, I don't like people in my business. I don't like people speculating because they see one thing. And even if they see one thing, they'll believe something else. So I just like to keep people out of my business. And Travis, if I can give you any advice, not that you have to take it, because like I said, I believe you have one of the great mentors
Starting point is 00:47:29 of mentorship. Or is that bro, keep it offline. Keep your dating, keep your dating life offline. Now, if you want to post you working out or stuff like that, have at it. But man, them relationships, because everybody's Dr. Ruth, everybody's Dr. Phil, everybody's
Starting point is 00:47:52 Dr. Lars Schlesinger, and it's just not going to end well. And then what makes it worse, Ocho, is that he's listening to the comments. He's reading the comments. She's reading the is that he's listening to the comments. He's reading the comments.
Starting point is 00:48:07 She's reading the comments. She's listening to what's good. I don't give a f***. I've had that I don't give a f*** very long time. I don't give a f***. What y'all say? You got to. I'm going to do what the f***
Starting point is 00:48:17 I want to do anyway. When things go good, I'm happy. When things go bad, I'm happy. It's going to be in the public. I don't give a f*** what you say. I'm going to still do what the hell I want to do.
Starting point is 00:48:27 Blah, blah, blah. Nothing going to change. I've always been this way. Whatever. On to the next. And just keep on. What? Because most of the time, you know what they're waiting to say?
Starting point is 00:48:40 I told you. I knew it wasn't what I tell you. Did I? Oh, yeah. Hey, hey, hey. Remember I told you? Hey, Joe, remember I told you? I told you. I knew it wasn't what I tell you. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Remember I told you? Hey, George, remember I told you? I told you. I knew it. I knew it was fake. They do it too much.
Starting point is 00:48:52 Every time they turn around, they make it seem like... Everybody just waiting to say I told you. The Las Vegas Raiders now currently hold the number one pick. The Giants hold the number two pick. New England number three. Carolina number four. Jacksonville number pick. The Giants hold the number two pick. New England, number three. Carolina, number four.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Jacksonville, number five. The Tennessee Titans, number six. The Jets, number seven. The Browns, number eight. Chicago, nine. The Bengals, 10. New Orleans, 11. And the Dallas Cowboys, 12. Top 10 pick. How'd that make you feel, Ocho? boys. Well.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Top 10 pick. How that make you feel, Ocho? Who knows? Y'all might be able to draft Travis Hunter. Y'all might trade up and get Travis. Whoa. Can you imagine? No. Can you imagine? Chiefs fans, Mike Brown ain't trading up nothing. He better have, hey,
Starting point is 00:49:45 he'll have to break that piggy bank over to pay Chase. See? You see what you have when you kick the can down the road? That's that balloon payment. I know you don't remember that. Hey, that's what the housing market crashed. They used to have what they call,
Starting point is 00:49:57 you know, balloon payments on interest only loans. All you had to do was pay the interest on the loan. You got a 10,000, 15,000 square foot house that you pay $2,000 a month. Now, that balloon payment, you have to pay that thing off. You see what happened when he kicked that can
Starting point is 00:50:11 down the road with Chase? Now Chase about to, ooh, ooh. And Chase said he got no scheme, man. Pick it up. Give it a loop. Give it a loop. Yeah. Oh, I want you to see me.
Starting point is 00:50:26 This is what they call strong arm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Hey, now I'm sitting here thinking, now let's think about this now. If right now, based on our record, I'm not sure how the rest of the season is going to go, but what if the Bengals do trade up
Starting point is 00:50:41 and go get Travis Hunter? First of all, ain't nobody going to trade you for it. And first of all, that's not how y'all do business. You know that. I know that. Wait a minute. What we've done is we've turned the culture around and we have a winning culture. We're going to have a winning culture.
Starting point is 00:51:00 Let me finish. The Detroit Lions ain't used to have a winning culture. What do they have now? When have y'all? Okay. Tell me the time that Detroit Lions ain't used to have a winning culture. What do they have now? When have y'all... Okay, tell me the time that the Bengals have traded up. They haven't, but we're trying to change the culture to a winning culture.
Starting point is 00:51:16 But you said y'all had a winning culture. I'm trying to figure out when y'all won. I didn't say that. I said we want to have, so we have to make the necessary changes to do so. And if trading up, doing something we've never done before, is going to help us get to that point, maybe we can trade up and get Travis Hunter to help bolster that defense.
Starting point is 00:51:35 I want to have dreads. How long do you think I need to want to have them things? Well, actually, if you want dreads, you could just order the goddamn little cap no I want the dread I want to grow them I want to grow them at my own school that's going to take about a year and a half before they lock up
Starting point is 00:51:52 I should lock you up for saying that I should call the cops right now ain't no locks growing on my head in a year and a half ain't no at this stage of my life it's over this is what I got this is what I got
Starting point is 00:52:10 yeah oh huh your hair can't grow I been just gonna grow like this I been ain't gonna grow no dreads
Starting point is 00:52:16 I can't grow no locks you can grow some locks we just talking about if your hair can grow in general you can let it grow enough to where you can twist it and it'll lock up
Starting point is 00:52:24 all its own don't your hair start to itch like if I grow a couple of days without shaving my face start to itch don If your hair can grow in general, you can let it grow enough to where you can twist it and it'll lock up all its own. Don't your hair start to itch? Like if I grow a couple of days without shaving, my face start to itch. Don't your hair start to itch? All you got to do is wash. You got to wash. You sell some blue or head and shoulders. No. That's what I use on my hair. The Volume.
