Right now you see the ticker as we tick down even closer to 2 million subs.
We're at 1,997,000.
So we're about 2,500.
I think 2,500, 2,800 away.
So I'm thinking probably by Sunday, Monday, Tuesday at the latest.
Yeah.
We're going to hit that magic number of 2 million organic subs.
Go ahead, don't you?
Hey, hey, Uncle Joe, when we hit two men, what will we going to do?
How are you going to celebrate?
I might let you and Joe just do the show.
I take the day off.
Oh, okay, okay.
Okay, okay.
I like that. I like that.
I like that.
Hey, I got to show you something.
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
I know we're doing the beginning.
Hold on, I got to show you something.
Okay.
What are you going to show with Joe?
Nah, he's better with some board jobs.
You already know what going on.
But hey, hey, we gotta play alone, okay?
You got your fun go.
Hold on.
That's, me and you together?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hey, that's hard, man.
Oh, man.
How do you get a fuck go
and you and out together?
It don't matter.
You ain't getting it.
You ain't getting it.
Hey, Chad, you all see that?
I mean, I might be willing to swap it.
Hey, look at that.
Hey, you got a little, you got a soccer microphone.
You got the glasses on.
You got a cheeseburger in your hand.
Chat, what's your thing?
Hey.
Even swap ain't no swindle.
Hey, you got my wards.
You got my high school jerseys.
You got my funco.
those jerseys, actually I went into a storage
and I purchased them.
So they're theoretically, they're mine.
Mm.
Mm.
Mm.
You're not a joke because I'm sending me a joke
as part of your restitution payment.
Yeah.
Okay, okay.
Well, listen, I'm gonna just take it from the joke.
Ain't no problem.
You gonna take what?
Them jerseys?
Not tonight.
No, it ain't gonna happen, partner.
Yeah.
I'm gonna tell you right.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, Ocho.
You tread lightly, partner.
Hey, let me tell you something.
All I do, I'm going to turn them over to Joe.
What happened with him if I put them in your hand?
That's between you and Joe.
Hey, Joe, I can take you something real quick?
Go ahead, man, talk.
I got a particular set of skills.
Yeah.
A set of skills that I perfected over the years.
Yeah, yeah.
A set of skills over the years that will tear your ass up.
Okay, okay, Liam.
Okay, Liam.
So, all right.
Kentucky beat number 10 Santa Clara in overtime.
I thought I had this one.
I really, really thought I had it, Joe.
Hold on, hold on.
You picked Santa Clara?
Man.
Joe, I had a three-point lead with two point four seconds to go.
I didn't think the guy going to bank him a 45-footer.
Hey, Santa Clara should be moving on.
Otega, O'awi.
Not today.
Owee.
scored a career high 35 points to send the seventh-seed to the wildcast to the next round.
Owee's mid-court prayer, banked in through the net,
the buzzer went off in overtime to help the Wildcats avoid an upset.
Alan Graves thought he had won the game one with his game winner with two seconds left.
But we made sure the Wildcats advanced.
So he hits that shot.
They tied up late.
So make it a 72, 72.
Then the guy comes down, hit a three-point shot, making 75-72.
And then the bank shot, making 75-75.
They had the overtime.
And that's where Kentucky took control of the ball game.
And they ended up winning this ball game.
Joe watching this game, I mean, like I said,
and I think when you picking these brackets, Joe,
you just can't go with the higher seeds
because you can't lose every time.
You won't even make it to the six tweet 16.
And so you know, at some point,
you got to start picking like, you know what?
I think I could see a potential upset here.
But give Kentucky credit for them to find a way
to get this game in overtime and then winning in overtime
speaks volume to this team.
Yeah.
I thought that Kentucky got lucky, bro.
They got lucky.
Hey, I'm rooting for the SEC throughout the whole tournament,
but Santa Clara had them on their heels.
The whole game.
And yeah, the entire game, and they was able to rally back.
But I like the guts that they played with.
I liked it.
What's his name?
Uwee.
Oh, yeah.
His brother played for the Chargers.
Oh, that's his brother played with the Chargers?
Hold on.
No, he just went to the Commanders.
He was with the Ravens, right?
He was with the Ravens.
Ravens with the charges and now he got the big contract to go to the commanders.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
I like the aggression that he came and played with, especially late.
So Kentucky could be a scary team.
You know, that first win, Ocho, you know, to get that dub, bro.
It's hard.
I don't care who you playing because that's why I say these neutral sites,
it don't matter.
There's no homeward advantage for real.
And you know it's going to be some upsets.
That's why they do the billion dollar bracket.
Nobody.
Who's going to get out?
No, man, come on.
Please.
it.
Oway.
Oway.
Owee.
Owee.
O'A. O'A. O'A. O'A.
Yeah, Kentucky, they got back in there.
They gave themselves another chance.
Oh, yeah.
Chance to fight another day.
Better to be lucky than good, fellas.
Hello.
Hello.
Yeah, but I mean, when you see the gentleman play,
he played 43 minutes, so he played all but two minutes in the game.
It was 40-minute regulation and then five-minute overtime,
so he played 43 minutes, 35 points on 10 or 12 from the free.
three throw line three or eight.
He also had eight rebounds, seven assists,
a steel on the block.
So he did a little bit of everything for this,
for this ball club.
Aberdeen had 16.
Deerbatee, 17, Garrison, 10.
So they got contributions from everybody.
Look, I don't really know what Santa Clara can do.
I mean, you hit, you know, you had to lead late.
They tied up with a two and then you hit a three.
But if you notice,
Sarah and Clara coach tried to call a time out.
So he can set his defense.
But they didn't give it to it.
So it's going to be some controversy of that.
I'm sure the staff and the players are upset about that.
I'm sure fans of Santa Clara.
They're upset about that.
But, you know, hey, you didn't get it.
He did not get a, he did not get the timeout call.
and Kentucky hit the long three-point shot,
and they went in an overtime.
And that's what you have to have.
Sometimes, like I said,
it's better to be lucky and good
because you have to find a way to survive in advance.
That's the motto of March Madden to survive in advance,
and they definitely survived and they advanced.
And so we'll see if they can continue this moving forward.
But I thought Santa Clara played about as well as they can play.
They're 10 C playing in Kentucky.
Not Kentucky of old.
They have all these five-star,
and they had the Murray's
and they got the Devin Bookers
and they had, you know,
the Boogie Cousers and all these guys.
They don't have that level of talent currently.
And so, you know,
how many, how,
this is going to hurt.
Oh, for sure.
If Santa Clara, hell yeah, it hurts.
Yeah, you're Santa Clara players,
the summer going to be long
because you're going to continue to think about this here.
Yeah.
Ooh.
Hey, that was luck, boy.
That last shot.
Hey, hey, hey, he,
Yeah, yeah.
Hey, we're in March, oh, Joe.
This will happen when you were in March.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
One game.
That's all the take.
That's what.
It don't matter what it's sitting is.
This is why people love March Madden so much.
Because it doesn't matter where you rank.
I can play you close and then I do something crazy at the end of the ball game.
Make a shot like that.
Right.
But here's the thing now.
That shot just got it.
That didn't win them the game.
It just got them to overtime.
They had to play well in overtime to win.
So it wasn't like a shot that walked it off.
They still had to play five more minutes.
And so they still, you know, sometimes we've seen teams get into overtime
and that's the high point.
And then for whatever reason they fall flat in overtime.
Give Kentucky because even though they were on that considerable high,
they still was able to carry it out.
Santa Clara, I could imagine what that did to them.
Oh, I mean, all the air probably went out of their sales
because, you know, hey, hey, we just hit a three.
It wasn't a two.
So the only thing that happened, the best case scenario,
they hit a three, we go to overtime.
What's the like of the odds had to be less than 1% of that happening
because they got to go to length of the court.
Yeah.
Hey, hey, if you Kentucky, all you, all you, when he made that shot,
I'm thinking, okay, we can't lose this game.
We got a new life.
Yeah.
We get another chance at overtime.
And that's when they kind of,
I just took over the game, but I thought Santa Clara was great, bro.
They gave him great competition.
I do think they should be advancing, but we in March, fellas.
Yeah.
This is how it goes.
You got one shot.
One.
I mean, Kentucky had 22 losses on the regular season.
But hey, here we are.
Like you said, guys, this March badge, bad to Santa Clara.
Woo.
That would really.
Getting ready for a game means being ready for anything.
Like packing a spare stick.
I like to be prepared.

Why hasn't a woman formally participated in a Formula One race weekend in over a decade?
Think about how many skills they have to develop at such a young age?
What can we learn from all of the new F1 romance novels suddenly popping up

And how did a 2023 event called Wag Ageddon change the paddock forever?
That day is just seared into my memory.

John Green. You may know me as the author of The Fault in Our Stars, and now I guess also as the co-host of The Away End, a brand new world soccer podcast.
I'm Daniel Alarcon, a writer and journalist, and John and I have known each other since we were kids.
My first World Cup was Mexico 86. I was nine years old. I watched every game, and I fell in love.
On our new podcast, The Away End, we'll share with you the magic of international football, all leading up to the 2026 World Cup.
For us, soccer, football, is a story we've shared for over third.
30 years since Daniel was the star player on our high school soccer team.
Very debatable.
And I was their most loyal and sometimes only fan.
I love this game.
I love its history, it's hope, it's heartbreak, and above all, it's beauty.
Together, we'll find out why, of all the unimportant things, football, soccer, is the most important.

It hurt. Miami, number seven, Miami, beat number 10, Missouri 86 after Missouri finally climbed
ahead after hanging around all game. Miami reeled off of 11-0 run down the stretch to put the
hurricanes firmly in control down the stretch. Senior, Malique Renault struggled early, but used a couple
of three-pointed to find his groove, scored 19 of his game, high 24 points in the second half.
Friday night felt like the de facto road game from Miami where they were able to handle the environment
in the Pesky Tigers to pick the hurricane's first NCAA tournament since 2023.
Yeah, Miami got it going, bro.
I hate Missouri lost the SEC team, but I pick Miami to beat Missouri.
Same.
Yeah, I pick Miami.
I'm surprised, Ocho, you ain't got Miami going to the national championship.
Yeah, you pick everything else, Miami.
No, I wouldn't do that.
I wouldn't do that, you know.
You know, he ain't going to pick no hurricane over no tiger, you know,
nothing like that.
You know, he'd be going out of mass guys, man.
I mean, man.
Hey, I ain't, I ain't going, hey, listen,
when it comes to, when the kind of picking March Madness,
listen, your basketball knowledge and your basketball prowess,
it don't really matter.
It don't really matter.
It's all about understanding who will win what game.
Yeah.
And who won't get lucky.
Yeah.
That's it.
That's why my bracket is going to be, go, go, going to finish first in front of
of both of y'all.
Well, I'm killing y'all right now and the brain.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Yeah.
Nothing.
Wait till you see your bracket and wait to you sign it tonight.
I already looked at them.
Okay.
Well, you would know I'm in first right now.
Well, please.
He in first.
I am in first.
That's what, that's what Uncle.
That's what we're looking at all?
You in first, Ocho?
Look, the problem that you guys got is that the team that you guys picked that y'all lost,
y'all got them going to win it, like pick in the suite 16.
So, yeah, I lost early, but I don't.
got them going any farther y'all got them guys going sweet 16 elite eight i got i got i got i got that
that's joe huh that's joe oh oh oh oh i got joe picking up the big schools to go all the way to
no no no no listen i i got i got i got i got a little room for you know a little a little mistake here
in there i'm good all right all right listen i my
I picked my mascots.
My mascots ain't going to let me down.
We'll go find out.
We go see here shortly.
West region, Miami.
Look, Miami, you know, one year Miami went to the final four or the elite eight?
I think it was lead eight.
That's when they had Jim Laranagan who ended up taking,
I think he took George Washington to the final four one year.
I think it was George Washington, UCLA, LSU,
somebody else because I remember going, it was an indie, and I went to the,
the final four matchup.
Not the actual game.
I went to, you know, the semifinals.
Yeah, I think the past few years, they've been pretty good.
What's my man named who took over?
His son, his dad played in the NBA.
Lucas, John Lucas.
His son is a head coach over there at the University of Miami.
Okay.
Wait, right now, Joe?
Yeah, right now.
He got them boys playing good ball.
I think this is, if I ain't mistaken, Ocho, this is first year.
I think this is first year there.
Okay.
As head coach, I think, yeah.
But look, they should be pretty battle tested.
I mean, coming to ACC, they play in a very tough conference.
I mean, obviously the selection committee, they always say that.
Who's it?
What conference did you play out of?
Who did you play?
Who was your non-conference opponents?
You know, they say all that.
They say it matters.
It don't matter if they want to get you.
you in. It do matter if they don't want to get you
in. If they don't want to get you in.
So I don't know what you look.
Hopefully you're on a nice conference and then
you're able to play.
I'm trying to see head coach.
Well, I mean,
Miami only had eight losses this year playing in the
ACC. They're playing in a pretty good
conference. Yeah. And Missouri
in the SEC, they ain't no
bad. They ain't no slout. You know what I mean?
No.
Jai Lucas.
That's who they had to.
Jai.
Yeah.
He took him for Jim Laranaga.
Yeah, he got them boys playing good ball.
They're playing really good ball.
Henderson, 15,
Tray Donaldson had 17.
But they lost some heavy minutes.
But you know, in college, you get that, Joe.
These guys be playing down the whole game.
They've got to be playing 37, 38 minutes.
Yeah, and say, hey, look, especially this time,
I mean, they, you know, Miami's starting.
bounce back. Yeah, yeah, in Miami top heavy with they starting five, you know, it ain't
but a 40-minute game. I mean, you, I mean, your best players, bro, you hope they can suck it
up and still be able to, you know, continue to play through a little for team. I mean, like I say,
man, guys ain't playing no more than six, seven dudes, man, in the NCAA tournament.
Yeah. Uh, hey, uh, hey, uh, hey, uncle Joe, they ain't really got no depth like that,
how off the bench, huh? No, well, they, they didn't play them. Come in and make a difference.
Not unless you're one of the top teams
and you got like you got four, five, five stars
and you got three or four or four stars
and a couple of three stars, you can run some depth like that.
But for the most part,
your best guy's going to have to shoulder the lion's share
the playing time.
The whole game.
Because you saw CNN, they started five all 40 minutes.
That's the first time somebody done that since DePaul did it.
I think they said it's 79.
So that just lets you know they got no depth.
Right, right.
And then plus you look,
your number 16 team going up against the number one seed,
overall seed,
you got to throw caution to the win.
I'm throwing everything I can against the wall.
Something got to stick.
I ain't really got no choice.
You can't.
Hey,
when you play them number one seeds,
man,
you can't go in there,
Timmy.
You got to go in there swinging.
Yeah.
For real, I'm saying.
You got to try to keep the game close early.
Yeah.
And you want to let them know, you want them to feel,
you want them to know that you're there.
Because once they sense a little fear,
but the next thing you know,
you're going to be down 15 points.
Well, we saw that tonight with a PV.
Yeah.
Oh, man.
I mean, it was 15, 15.
You look up again.
It's 33, 15.
You look up again.
Now they're down 20.
Now they're down 30.
I mean, 20, what were they down?
39 at the half?
And the next day, you know, they down 50.
Yeah.
That wasn't even.
Fair, Joe.
Hey, hey, a Lodontay who had on the show,
that why I tried to tell her.
I told him, hey, man, Florida got some dogs.
Hey, they're just too big.
You know, they go 610, 6, 9, 6, 11.
I think the tallest guy that the PV had was 6, 7.
They just clean them, they just clean the clocks
on the glass.
I mean, just rebound after rebound.
And they go.
And it's just.
They got, they got the, I think they got the number one,
they got the number one rebound in the NCAA.
I can't remember his name,
the big dude in the middle.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But they defense.
He might be a lottery pick, the tall white kid, right?
Yeah, man, listen.
Hey, hey, yeah.
Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about.
Yes.
I don't think it's no bigs in the country who can deal with them boys they got down now.
Now, if they guard's playing great, that's a bonus, Uncle Ocho.
This is what you're going to get.
They're going to beat you about 40, 50 points.
Straight up, bro.
Like, they got the total package, man.
They got some, hey, well, I'll tell you, Florida's scared.
I'm glad they way across town over there.
And we meet them.
It's going to be in the championship game.
Get back.
Going to be a move.
Yeah, yeah.
They're all the opposite sides.
Yeah, Florida beat PV by almost six, beat them by 59.
But, I mean, we're not surprised by that.
I mean, that's a, that's a, that's a, that's a very good team.
They were, they were ranked.
That's expected.
Yeah, they were ranked very high in the regular season.
No, not 50, not 50, guy.
Not 50 for them.
No, I mean, no, not 50, Joe, but yeah, yeah, we're,
I knew they probably be a right.
No, no, no, no, not not, not first round.
It's not like that.
You see what prayer, you see what, uh, uh, uh, Purdue won by.
They won by 33.
Yeah, but look what they plan on.
That's not fair.
That's not you playing Queens.
Like I said, you go six,
11, 16, 6, 9.
That's your front court.
Yeah.
And your tallest guy six seven.
Hey, man, they're gonna kill you on the glass.
I mean, and you can't.
That's tough.
And you know, uh, uh, PV.
got hot there early on from the three point line.
And so you know they made it, they been,
bam, bam, bam, bam.
But if you never go cold,
because you're not getting any second chances.
And they're going to get second chance,
second chance, a third chance or four chance.
And that's what happened.
I mean, probably have to look at the rebounding.
They probably got out rebounding by 30.
I mean, you get out rebounded by 30.
How many second chance points you think that's going to real?
Easy.
So, Joe.
Getting ready for a game means being ready for anything.
Like packing a spare stick.
I like to be prepared.
That's why I remember, 988, Canada's suicide crisis helpline.
It's good to know, just in case.
Anyone can call or text for free confidential support from a train responder anytime.
988 suicide crisis helpline is funded by the government in Canada.
Why hasn't a woman formally participated in a Formula One regular,
weekend in over a decade. Think about how many skills they have to develop at such a young age.
What can we learn from all of the new F1 romance novels suddenly popping up every year?
He still smelled of podium champagne and expensive friction.
And how did a 2023 event called Wagageddon change the paddock forever?
That day is just seared into my memory.
I'm culture writer and F1 expert Lily Herman, and these are just a few of the questions I'm
tackling on No Grip, a Formula One culture podcast that dives into the under-explored pockets of the sport.

Very debatable.

I love this game.

You like the graphics team.
Look at the what the graphics had today.
Hey.
What they?
Hey, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't know how many people part of the graphics team.
Hey, they need to raise on.
I don't know what they make.
Hey, they need to raise, boy.
Hey, people been hitting me about the graphics team, bro.
They're how amazing they.
All know how y'all are we coming.
Hey, hey, what you?
Hey, Joe, they did give you a little sunroof, Joe.
Yeah, I know.
They gave me a little sunroof.
It's okay.
They're trying to hate.
I ain't got no sunroof.
I ain't, hey, hey, my hurt line ain't received, bro.
You want to be Larry?
Oh, you want you to be Larry?
No, no, no, no, no.
Hey, hey, hey, what, hey, which one am I?
Larry.
Why I gotta be Larry?
You just asked which one were you.
Then you talk about why you gotta be him.
Who would you like to be?
The one in the middle, Mo?
Okay.
I want to be Mo.
We go do Moe.
But you not?
No, we can't repeat the same graphic.
Hey, we had a graphic team, man.
They need to raise on.
Everybody said you perfect for Larry, also.
Yeah.
Who me?
I mean, you know, it ain't nothing but a character, that's all.
When that camera rolling, you know, I turned it on now.
Uh, yeah.
Uh.
Hey, Joe, you feeling good, Joe?
Hey, I'm a hundred, baby.
What's up?
How many did I hold out rebounds?
I'm a hundred.
What's up?
Talk to me.
I'm just making sure you good.
Yeah, I don't, hey, I don't think I even over here working on my jab.
I see you. I see you. Hey, hey, with your hands all the way up there, you know your stomach
and your rear wide open. Hey, Joe, Ocho, Florida out rebinding of PV by 34, 54 to 20.
Oh, man. Yeah, they got some dogs under that. You got a big old tall kiss.
And you know, you know, you know the only way PV could have won the night, Joe,
uh-huh.
Make 33. They would have had to be a bingo and they would have had to be so efficient from the field.
I'm talking about super efficient where they couldn't even get the rebounds.
And they killed them.
They killed them in assists.
I think they probably, I think Florida probably had like 26 assists.
I only think PV had but like six assists.
Bro, you can't win no games like there with no six assists.
So, hey, Joe, they would have to literally get up like 53s
and probably have to make half of them to give themselves a chance.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Because they're so outman, outgunned.
Yukon beat firm in 8271.
Tars Reed Jr.
too much preferment. The 611 center out rebounding the paladin's all by himself hauling in 27
boards to go with 31 points in an absolute dominant performance for Yukon. The three point shot
wasn't falling for the Huskies 5 or 25. But Reed is just the third player in the last 50 years
to have a 30-20 rebounding game in an NCAA tournament game. The 30-25 in the NCAA tournament game
since 1960.
Elvin Hayes did it in the Elite 8 in
1968. Elvin Hayes also
did it in the first Routel of Loyola, Chicago.
Elvin Hayes did it again.
And so did Jerry Lucas
in the Elite 8. Jerry Lucas did it again.
He was on that team.
He was on that team with Jerry West,
if I'm not mistaken, Lucas.
Now, Jerry West went to West Virginia.
Bobby Knight might have been on that team.
Wait, Bobby Knight, Bobby Knight?
Look at the Seattle.
I think that was like the 1960.
I think Ohio State might have won the championship.
And they must have told Reed to get everything come off the glass.
That man had 27 rebounds.
Elvin Hayes.
Also, you know how.
You know how hard.
The University of Houston.
He's one of the teams.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, was it Hablick?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was like, hold on.
Yeah.
Ando, Hablicek went to Ohio State with Jerry Lucas and Bobby Knight was on that team.
Jerry West went to West Virginia.
But Elvin Hayes was a monster at University of Houston.
He was that team that they beat Kareem, with his prior name when he wasn't Kareem then.
And then Kareem came back and just wiped them out in the title game.
But that's a phenomenal.
I mean, in a college game?
Yeah.
In a college game, in a tournament game.
I think Michael Beasley might have had a 30-20 game.
His first game, probably Shaq had won college.
But I'm talking about this is the tournament.
So congratulations.
That was a hell of a performance tonight.
12 or 15 from the floor, Joe.
He was 31 points and 35 minutes.
12 or 15 from the floor.
He didn't shoot any threes.
He was seven or nine from the free throw line.
27 rebounds, three assists.
He had 11 offensive rebounds.
Damn.
They had 18 offensive rebounds as a team.
The Palinans had four offensive rebounds of the team.
So you're going to be only able to do so much.
You keep letting teams get cracks at you on the offensive end.
Eventually they're going to get second chance points
and they're going to start to pile up.
The Palinans had, you know, two guys with up with 20 plus points.
They had another guy with 10.
But, and I give them credit, they hung around for a long time.
This game was really, really close.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, they was fighting.
They was fighting.
Great game with 27 boys, man.
They must have told him, hey, hey, anything come off that glass.
We want you to go get it.
We got to have it.
Because guess what?
They pay guys.
They pay guys to do that.
They pay guys.
Hell, yeah.
You can make you a lot of money doing that.
31 and 27?
Shh.
That's a lot of boys.
No offense the output, Joe?
Huh?
Huh?
But no offense to output?
Hell, he had 31 points.
We got 31 points.
Oh, no, I'm just saying.
Joe say they pan you just, you know, grabbing rebounds.
I mean, yeah, if you can rim run.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hartenstein.
Hartinstein, he's a rebounding guy, offensive guy.
He said great picks.
I can teach you how to do that, Ocho.
Some people just have a knack for the ball.
Dennis Robman.
How do you think Dennis Robben got into the league?
Oh, yeah.
Dennis Robin probably had him for about six points a game.
But he's a nine-time rebound champ.
Yeah.
So you got to want it.
And like I said, I can teach you how to sit,
hey, a screen, that's all you need to be able to do,
screen and rebound.
Man, man.
Get your little chain in your pocket.
That's it, bro.
Yeah.
Get you, get you, honey in.
Oh, Joe, remember how you and I played?
What the hell?
We have a couple of guys on the team.
All they can do is stop the run.
And can't get no pass, Rush.
Just stop the run.
Right, right, right.
We had big fam and goose.
Y'all job, stop the run, keep the guys off rate.
Big Sam Adam.
You know Big Sam was over there with us too, huh?
He played with me in Baltimore for two years.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
He was in Seattle when I was in Denver.
Big Ten Washington.
I played with Big Ten Washington, too.
Big Ten.
Big Ten.
Okay.
Adam's a big boy.
Oh, my goodness.
Hey, Big Sam, Big Sam and let you know he got the fastest step.
He got the fastest step of the game.
Don't get him started.
I'm talking about, Shea, I beat you in a five.
Yeah, we're going to the other table.
That's the only place you're going to beat me to them.
Hey, Joe.
What's up?
A big Sam Adams had to be by what?
But 350, three what?
Easy.
Three 50.
We don't really know because him and Goose didn't really wait.
So he wouldn't, because Goose wouldn't wait.
Sam wouldn't weigh.
Right.
If Goose didn't practice, Sam wasn't going to practice.
So, you know, Rex Ryan was not D-Ly line coach at the time.
So you got to realize that's half.
Marvin was the D-C.
Rex Ryan was the D-Corpsinator.
Jack Del Rio was the linebacker's coach.
We had Steve Smitty that ended up coaching that Atlanta Falcons.
He was on the defensive staff also.
So that defense staff was crazy, crazy.
and
but boy,
you weren't running the football.
I thought like,
I don't.
I don't know a whole lot else,
but I'll show hope your game plan
wasn't to have your guy
rushed for 100 yards
because it wasn't happening.
I mean, they didn't even come close.
They didn't even give up in 16 games.
They didn't even give up a thousand total rush yards.
Hold on,
they played on the line neck to each other,
off the line.
So they'll push it probably by,
they'll probably push it about,
I give them probably,
Goose might have been about 3.30,
Sam probably about 345, 3.50.
They damn six,
ain't a damn just 700 between the two of them.
Ooh.
Hey,
Hey, Joe,
they ain't moving nowhere.
No,
absolutely.
You ain't gonna me.
He ain't gonna move them nowhere.
It was just like when,
hold on.
I think Big Ted and Trucker was in Cleveland,
was in Chicago together.
Because I played,
I played with a,
uh,
uh,
Ted in 95.
Ted was with me in Denver in 94.
Trucke was with me 91, 92.
Then he left.
He was a linebacker.
Ate himself into a nose tackle.
Y'all laughing he did.
But hell, he wasn't making weight.
That was the best thing to happen to him
is that he just told me to go ahead and get down
to the three-point stand.
Because he wasn't making weight in a linebacker.
He ain't make weight not one time.
Truck ain't make weight one time.
Not ever.
Hold on, so they make out, they make out,
they made y'all do weight and body fat too long.
Not body fat, just waiting.
So we had to wait, we had to wait again every, every Friday.
Every Friday was weighing.
Yeah.
You get fine.
Every pound, every pound you're overweight.
Every pound, it's $50 a pound for every pound you overweight,
and then it doubles the next week and then tripled and so forth and so.
Hey, that's how Miami, that's how Miami heat work.
Wait, hold on, you got to have, you got to be a certain weight for basketball, Joe?
Yeah, man, you got to weigh in every Friday.
Oh, Joe.
And depending on your position, whether you are big or you are small,
you got to have a certain amount of body fat.
You know what I mean?
So you got to weigh a certain amount.
You got a certain amount of body fat on what they would like.
So, you know, if they want you at six and a half, seven percent because you're a guard,
then, boy, hey, they got a program for you.
Okay, I understand.
So if you're a big guy and maybe they want you at 10%, 9%,
they got a program for you.
Yeah.
Dan Reeves, we weigh on on Friday.
And like holidays, because like the holidays like Thanksgiving.
So they would, he was like, okay, he would give you grace.
But you waiting that Thursday, he's like, you know what?
We're going to have weighing on Friday too.
I ended up having no problem with the way, boy, you all right.
You all right.
You know what I'm talking about.
How many guys in that summer on Friday morning?
Hey, trying to get that way down.
I was saying, hey, look, on Thursday,
dudes be in the sauna.
They don't even be eating.
They're like, we got waiting by the fact tomorrow.
I can't eat.
Out there practicing that plastic.
They got them sauna.
They got them sauna jacket.
So Joe out there practicing.
Yeah.
They ended up to practice.
And then Friday morning, they come there early,
get on the bike, and then get in the sauna again.
There you go.
There you go.
I do all that.
That was a routine, boy.
That was a routine.
Hey, $50 a pound add up quick.
You're talking about $50 a pound,
you're three, four pounds over,
and it doubled the next week.
Because it's only going to get harder as it gets colder.
So if you overweight in September, October,
what the hell you think are going to happen in November, December,
in January?
In December, yeah, it's tough.
Hey, they got 10 listed at 375.
He was about that.
God, damn.
Ted is, but, see, here's the thing.
Ted was like six months.
That's all Ted was.
I tell was tall.
And all he wanted to do is crack jokes.
But don't get it mad, don't get it mad.
You got hell on your head now.
UCLA beat UCF 7571.
The Knights put up a fight with a late surge,
but the Bruins walked away with a win after finishing
it with 13 steals, nine block,
to kickstart their transition offense.
The Knights turned the ball over 17 times
compared to eight for the Bruins
and went just five or 16 from the free.
three throw line. Damn. Donovan did 10 points five six steals ran the show for
UCLA daily title season high with 20 points. UCLA, uh, Sky Clark lost the
teeth, lost the tooth and a fight for a loose ball. God damn. Man like that look like a real
jack-o-lanter. Oh yeah, they got, they got it. They got it where you can see the two
falling out of it. Yeah, yeah. Hey, as a matter of fact, I'm going to get me,
some I'm going to get some, uh, some, give me some porcelain.
Ooh. You know what I'm saying? Oh, Joe. I want that Mondo. I want some porcelain.
What, Mondo? I want that real stuff. I want them real good teeth. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I got that
the porcelain. Oh yeah, yeah. I ain't able to do it now. They won't do it now. Because he got to be,
he's got to be able to see it. Okay. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, man. Oh, man.
Man, damn.
Man, they got the two falls out of his head, Joe.
Man, I had seen that, bro.
Like, oh, my God.
Right there under his chair, yeah.
Damn.
Yeah, they're like a hockey player now.
Yeah, he said, you know what?
I don't just fix that one.
Go ahead and fix the front four.
Let's get this, let's get the D line straight, don't you?
Yeah, get me right.
Hey, because, hey, ain't no sense of having one, one shiny white teeth.
Right.
Excuse me.
And then the rest of like, damn.
Nah, you got to paint this whole fence, cuz.
Hey, you know what best.
You got to paint the whole fence.
They got to get it right.
They got to get it right.
Oh, man.
But, hey, you got scrapping, guys.
That's what it takes to win.
Hey, every loose ball.
We saw LeBron do something we had never seen him do for a loose ball in order to get a win, right?
So you imagine what these,
And you're talking about a guy that's as accomplished as he is
getting on the floor for a loose ball
I wouldn't be surprised the coach says, hey, this is what it takes to wins.
Like, damn, that's what it takes to win?
As a matter of fact, if we can win the next ride, I might lose another two.
Hey, the boys out there fighting for their life, man.
Hell yeah, hey, put it up on your pillar.
Go, drop him a little, drop him a little thigh.
up on this pillar, two fairs.
They did with a two fair brought you.
There was the good old days, man.
Hey, Joe, you pulled him,
oh Joe, you pulled him teeth out,
putting that bag up under there.
You get a quarter, or a 50 cent, a dollar.
I got a dollar.
I got a dollar.
Hey, man, you know this happened
when we little kids, Uncle Joe,
like one thing that your parents always tell you
is they tell you not to lie.
Yeah.
But everything they told us was a lie.
The truth fairy was a lie.
a lie. Santa Claus was a lie. I mean, everything was a lie. I mean, then now, y'all get on me
because I'd be lying in capping. Well, hell, it started when I was a goddamn shorty.
And then if you don't put your tongue in it, it'll be a gold one will come. And when you get
your two-pulled, if you don't put your tongue in it, a goal would come back there. Man, I try
so hard not to let my tongue touch that empty spot. You're by like,
Hold on, Unk, I know you used to do this.
Remember what they say to tell you, if you flip your eyelids,
it's going to get stuck like that?
You get to flip them up?
Yeah, you flip them up.
Hey, hey.
My grandma, man, stop.
Boy, if you don't stop flipping it before it gets stuck.
Hey, y'all ain't never heard of the one where they say,
if you don't go to sleep on Christmas Eve.
Like, he's going to come throw ashes in your eye.
For real?
Yeah, it was hard for me to sleep on, you know,
the night before Christmas, Ocho.
I couldn't wait to get up in.
I couldn't wait to get up and open my presence.
So they are coming, hey, if you don't go to sleep,
boy, you know you're gonna come put some ashes
in your eyes.
What?
Mm-hmm.
And all kind of sin.
Every time I think about it, Joe, you know,
maybe we were so performative, man, I'm putting out milk and cookies.
I'm happy.
My grandma, my mama, my mama, no, just put three chocolate chip cookies,
put some milk out there, you know,
sending gonna come down and we drop the presents off.
You know, he gonna enjoy some milk and cookies.
So not that I think about it as I get older,
like y'all, y'all really,
playing me. Yeah. Yeah. Hey,
quiet as kept, though. I'm
repeating the cycle. I ain't going to lie to.
Oh, you doing it. Oh, yeah, yeah. Oh, I'm repeating.
Listen, I'm repeating it too. I'm repeating it,
too. I'm repeating it, too. I'm going to lie to
you. Hey, that's a French fry. French fry swear,
I swear to Santa Claus, boy.
Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't tell her no different.
Oh, I'm not. I'm not. I'm a let it, I'm a let it
until you get old enough, understand.
They'd put out a little bit more money. I might have
put it out all my teeth.
I'm about, but oh, hey, that bit,
hey, that finish, like, damn,
hold on for one tooth, I got 32 of these things.
Yeah, I know, I started adding up back in this early family.
Hold on, man, that's 16, 1650.
It was always, make some real money.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
It was always weird when you lose a tooth, though.
That little space right back.
Yeah, yeah, you definitely didn't want to lose.
them thing on the front.
The side wasn't that bad, but man, I don't know what.
That front and the front?
Yeah.
I should have did like my uncle.
My uncle lost the tooth.
And my grandfather, Papa, put a court up on his pillar.
They had killed a hog like a week or so earlier through the head out of the woods.
He went out a pair of plows and pulled out every tooth in the hog's head and put him up on this pillar.
man stop it he's like oh jo joe he said if i got a quarter for what how about you think i'd give for 40 50
right boy my grandma said she went to wake went to make up the bed and say she the sheet and say
man them teeth hit the flow she said i shut down on his ass because you know back then
they didn't play they didn't play the drum they didn't play no kind of way they didn't play no kind of
with no kids, all that back talking.
Yeah.
I don't know when this generation started
about that back talking and being flip at the lip.
Yeah, yeah, talking back.
Like I said, I don't know what happened in North.
I don't know what happened in Midwest.
I don't know what happened in the West.
But I know in the sound,
where I grew up, that was a no game.
They ain't played that.
Hey, same thing over here.
No.
That was a no.
Talk.
Hey, hold on.
You talk about talking back, you better make sure your facial expression don't change
even.
What?
Right.
Who are you looking at like that?
You couldn't say lie?
You better say you're telling the tail.
They fix your face.
Ooh, that's a lot.
What you say?
He's telling the tail?
He's telling the tail?
He's telling the tale.
Barney, man, part of him.
Yeah, you can say that.
Yeah.
Oh, sir.
I don't know where these kids got that from.
That talking back and that, hey.
Hey, that kiss of your teeth, we call it a, uh, uh, yes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Play around.
Hey, play around if you want to.
Poppe you right.
She'll pop.
Boy, if you don't stop.
Look, throw back.
And I understand because that's how they, that's how they were raised.
They were structured, you know, even as my grandpa, my, my aunts and uncles, they were grown.
It wasn't that, you know, whatever my grandfather said just to keep the peace, because they
know how he was.
and you didn't ever want to get him to 10
because you got him to 10,
they're gonna take days, probably a week,
to get him down.
So just, hey, whatever, whatever Barney said,
just go, just ride with it.
He could be wrong, just ride with it and keep it moving.
But all that talking back, the grants,
like none of that play, play, all that stuff.
I don't know where he key,
Joe, I don't know where he can get there from.
I don't know.
Yeah, but they like, they like to play game now.
They pay your on camera, require you, they,
Hey, man, I don't want to be on no TikTok.
Don't be TikTok.
No, I don't play that.
I don't play.
Real, for real.
Oh, they were going to do what you call them?
You remember the show MTV Punk?
Yeah, yeah.
Asson Cusha had it.
They want to punk me.
Hey, if you try to get you.
Hey, Kayla, say, don't do that, my daddy.
Y'all don't know my daddy.
My daddy hurt somebody.
You were, you would have snapped on him?
Because I don't play like that.
I ain't, I mean, God to tell you,
anybody that's ever, I don't play like that.
Mm-mm.
No.
I'm going to make sure I get you then.
I'm going to make sure I get you.
See, hey, well, you better make sure there ain't no camera to ride
because we're going to get canceled.
Because I was sure.
I'm just going ahead and go ahead tell you.
Nah, nah, but I think that's the thing just like,
that's a southern thing.
And like I said, I don't know, like I said,
I didn't grow up anywhere else but the South.
And I know everybody that I was,
around, their parents and grandparents didn't play like that.
They went all that joking and Kiki-ki-in and all that running out,
in and out of the house and that loud talking,
Papa was sleep.
Boy, you bet.
Oh, Lord, how it was, hey, it's funny.
Like, because like, when me and Spanke get together, we talk,
we talk about like how we grew up and, and listen to other people how they grew up.
Like y'all got to do that.
Y'all can do that.
You couldn't just go, you couldn't just go, Joe.
And my house was like, okay, I'm going to go fix me something to eat.
You had to ask.
Yeah.
You just couldn't go get it.
If something's in the refrigerator like real food, like if you want to make cereal, that's fine.
But when it came to food, food like rice and beans and chicken or something like that,
boy, you better not go in that refrigerator and go in granite pots.
Hey
Okay, Ocho
My auntie used to shut the kitchen down
You couldn't even go in the kitchen
And like at the 930, bro
She was a military, military lady
She ain't played that
Military, hey, at the 9 o'clock
No food
Don't take your ass in my kitchen
Yeah
But see that was the thing
What we like going to our dad's moms
Because she, because we didn't get to see them that often
So you know the parent is just like
like anything.
The parent that don't get to see you that after what they do,
Ocho, they overdo.
Let's go get this, let's go get that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So when Papa would tell me a spanking, they pick up,
we come off of school, I'm gonna take it to your grandma, uh, uh, uh,
grant, he called William and Charlie.
That was the name, but granted William, Grandin,
and Grandma Charlie.
Well, I'm gonna, y'all gonna spend the weekend.
And we, hey, okay.
Okay.
Because if you pretended like you wanted to go,
he might shut that down.
Yeah.
He might shut that all the way down.
Man, as soon as we hit the dope,
soon, hey, cause we gotta wait to see,
hey, you don't be giving them all that sweet,
so forth and so, boy, hey.
Yeah.
Man, spakey, we look right that cold as soon as that joke
turned down and hit that left and getting up out of there.
Rema Chalda, we wanna go to the stove.
Here y'all, y'all, right.
Brame me my purse, boys.
Here's a dollar.
I'll push that door on me and Spaker,
push that door over,
down to the door.
And Saturday, they wait until we get there
and we're going grocery shopping.
That's the only time you put stuff in the buggy.
Because Mary Porter wouldn't let you put
an inch in that buggy in Glenville.
He was putting nothing in granite buggy.
Grandma Charlie, get what you want.
Man, I got fruit, loose.
I got Apple Jacks, I got Diggum snacks,
I got honey buns, I got chips.
We get hot dogs.
Yeah.
Hey.
Hey, Uncle Joe, you know what it felt like back then,
especially when you was a little kid,
and you get a dollar, maybe $2.
And let's say you get $5, you get $5.
Well, you know what that feels like that little kid, what?
What?
And then you got, I don't know, Joe,
I don't know if y'all had a joke,
you had a candy lady house.
Were you from?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Man, you get about $2, three dollars for doing your chores from your grandma, man.
And you go to the candy lady house, man.
I get some, get some lemon head, get some baked beans.
Man, get some goddamn pit.
I don't know if y'all eat pickle eggs.
You eat pickle eggs, Joe.
You're talking about lemon head like this.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, how you got them hung?
You know, I keep a candle by death.
I got a little canned over there.
Hey, Joe, I used to get the pickle eggs in the hot sauce and Joe.
Yeah.
Man, couldn't tell me.
Nothing. Give me a little jungle juice.
Jungle juice. Yeah, that's a good. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Sometimes I go to the Stone Ocho just to get the Tisri,
25 gallon jungle juice. Yeah, I get all that. Yeah.
But you know, back then on your candy with a penny. You get penny candy. So you get
a fitted piece of candy for 50 cents. Yeah. How much of chips back then? How much? How much a little
bag of chips? 20, 25 cents? Yeah. Because, you know, like, we used to be a little
Hell.
You got those wise potato chips.
Had a little hour on the bag, the little bag.
So that was like 15, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But lays with like 20, you get laid for like 25 cents.
Coca-Cola was 25 cent.
A honey bun was 25 cent.
So, oh, yeah, stuff was cheap back there.
So a dollar went along with, boy.
Yeah, well, yeah,
$5.5 for me, $250 for me, $250 was Spanky.
See, Spanky would save his money.
Ain't save it nothing.
Boy, don't spit it all in one place.
where you were to take me multiple places,
because you taking me to one place, it's gone, right?
Hey, listen, hey, wasn't nothing like getting that honey bun,
cracking that thing over and put it in the microwave.
Microwave, 11 seconds, Joe.
By 10 seconds.
11, 11.
Y'all have a microwave?
Yeah.
I'm saying, look, look, hey,
I'm talking about at the cornerstone at the snow.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, right here.
You have a microwave and you, and you warm that thing up.
Yeah.
Hey, ain't nothing like, hey, Joe.
And you ever had the big Texas cinnamon rolls
that come in the purple package?
Man, come on, stop playing.
And you put them in the microwave,
and you put them in the microwave away.
Yeah, yeah.
They ate them little Swiss pecan rose, them little Swiss.
Boy, I remember,
that honey, boy, that truck,
hey, that truck driver steak.
That's what they call honey buns in the south truck driver state.
Cause you see the truck,
and they hopped out of that truck,
they go get a honey bun, they'll get some chips,
and they're going to get a coat.
Hop back up, you hit that road.
Oh, the Viadol, salt.
You know, viand salt.
You remember they had the vining sausages,
and then they came with the big can.
Because the small can had by seven in the,
the big can have about 14.
Yeah.
Now, you big wheelie that you get the 14 can.
You get that big can.
I don't know if they still make the big cans like that.
But the, and them sardines?
You eat sardines, Joe?
Yeah, I still eat them.
The sardines, and then they came out
with the sardines with the mustard in there.
Yeah.
I ain't never had that.
What?
You eat sardines, Ojo?
No.
I never had that.
Hey, them good mega threes for you, bro.
They fatty now.
Okay, they're fatty.
What that means?
That's the fattish fish.
That's the fattest fish you could eat as sardines.
Okay, okay, okay.
But they're good.
They're small, they small fish.
They're bigger than they're eating with some crackers.
They're small.
I hadn't had sardines.
I mean, I don't think I had sardines since I love Glendville.
Eat them with some crackers,
some little white soutines.
Yeah.
I don't know.
Boy, hey, that's a go-toe right now why you're out playing.
Now, I ain't had no sardines.
I ain't had no buying the sausages.
I ain't had none of that.
I ain't had no buy any of the sardines.
See?
See, Ocho?
See, you don't got outside yourself.
You don't eat like that no more.
No, no, no.
Everything else I name I still eat.
But hey, if I'm my grandma house and I hear that ice cream truck coming around the corner,
well, I'm shooting outside, boy.
I can still get my pickle egg.
I can still get my eggs and my hot sauces off the ice cream truck.
Hey, boy, you were running an ice cream truck down at you.
Man, down.
But yeah, we had a guy used to come by and sell fruit, fruit.
Name Mr. Lester Denson.
I never forget.
He said he had bananas.
He had apples, oranges, pears.
Man, and he drove the school bus because we rode bus school bus 31.
He drove us 32.
Man, Mr. Leson just come out there to, ooh, man.
I have some good days, boy.
He had no word and a war.
Didn't realize how much.
broke you were because everybody else was broke just like you.
There you go.
There you go.
There you go.
Real talk.
Yeah.
You had like,
damn.
And I look back now,
they're talking about,
oh, the poverty.
Yeah, yeah,
we wave below poverty.
We wave below.
I don't know what poverty was,
but we're below that.
So whatever,
okay,
this poverty right here.
So what's this right here?
We below that.
Yeah.
But when everybody eating what you eating,
doing the same thing you're doing,
you don't think about it.
It wasn't like nobody had,
getting new cars,
or had all this others,
this lavish stuff.
Ain't nobody had nothing like that.
Made you appreciate everything that you got.
There you go.
That you got.
Let's go.
